  • Happy--Good morning I see your light on. My paycheck arrived just a few minutes a go and my co worker said their were huge snow flakes about 5 this morning . It's cold enough to snow. I'm thinking about going back to the 1500calorie limit and using 1200 as my metabolism set point. Since I have this thyroid problem I can't take the normal route. I was loosing weight by doing this.

Java--I've been keeping up with the news on the miners. I'll keep you and them in my prayers.

Madcat--I think you should continue with your marriage plans. I had a cousin get married the day his dad passed away with a heart attack. He told them not to let that stand in his way.

Tig--Thai'd one on, now that's cute. Glad your hubby is feeling better.

Mel--How did the doc's visit go?

Not much news here. Met my new neighbor yesterday and of all things I worked with her years before. It's good to have her next door.
I got in 50 minutes on the air bike yesterday. It helps me by breaking up the sessions.

I'm still taking baby steps toward changing my life style to get healthy.

  • Ladies, we have snow
I heard snow plows in the night. There's an inch or more out there, but the roads appear clear. I have to leave a whole hour early today because I'm lifting weights with an ex-coworker's wife. But the big news is that last night when I came home, after changing clothes, checking in with the boyfriend on line and checking a few emails, I EXERCISED!!!

I put my new Kathy Smith Time Saver Workout tape in and set a timer, but quickly got lost, so I hopped on my trampoline and used the beat from her music to bounce my way through fifteen minutes. I started to sweat too, ya know when you start smelling your hair products, you know you have it heated up.

My water was excellent yesterday, but wouldn't you know my food was over. Seems like I can't get all three on target at once. But I do know how to juggle. Shame it's not the same talent.

I work alone tonight, so perhaps I'll check in on you and address you all individually.
  • Warm fuzzy thoughts to the worldly ones!!!!

My pic didn't show the colours well.
You will just have to assume I look smashing!! ROFLMAO!!!
  • You all write SO much... and it's already noon and I got up late and I gotta get a move on or DH will come home early from work (it's Friday!!!) and I'll still be in my Jammies... (at least they are MY jammies, Mel!! and What to you mean lying on the bed with Micky (or was it Andy) Rooney on it?!!!!)

Shad, please send some of your left over rain this way. I think the dust bowl is coming back to Texas.

CeeJay... I've got both Photoshop and painter IX essentials to mess with pictures. I'll see what i can post if I "lower" the quality... I get thrown off when it asks for a url to go with the picture. I have successfully posted thumbnails, but it's so cool to have BIG images IN the text box. sigh.

Hope those of you with flu/cold etc. are feeling better. I wonder if it was all the chemo or the flu shot insisted upon by the oncologist is what has (so far) kept me going.... Hmm. There was that course of antibiotics from the primary care doc...I almost forgot!

I'd like a pat on the back... have "only" had a midnight food rendezvous once this week... and am feeling better for it. My not-quite-fattest pants are going to fit by Easter, I'm sure.
Yesterday I paid bills (also had to transfer from savings..) and discovered the miracle of multiple month (!) account reconciliation via Quicken. Wow. That was cool.
Also began filling out the dread "universal provider" paperwork required to deal with @#$%^&ing insurance companies. I feel like lost the battle to have a therapy practice comprised solely of out-of-pocket payers.. but it just wasn't happening... enough... to put savings in the bank. I have to go into the office (rather than work from home today) to get finicky little deatils about which months I did what internships... that were 15 years ago. But the insurance companies don't know how great I am, so I guess I have to put something on paper.
I also am looking into generating some art cards.. the art part is fun and I get lost doing the research for papers, envelopes etc.

OK. Sorry I couldn't respond to all... Glad most of us are getting the sleep, attention and weather we want!! TTFN. Warm regards to all you buddies.
  • Happy New Year - I'm Back!
    Hi everyone,

Well that bronchitis bug kicked my butt and I stayed home pretty much all week from work. Today was my first day back.

I'm still really tired and very congested, but I'm hanging in there.

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the new Year (hard to believe it's 2006 already!!).

    Take care.

    Lisa

  • Morning, morning, morning all
The threads are really busy at the moment. All those new year resolutions and LindaT's chatty Forum etc. I see from Ruthxxx thread that there are changes coming to signatures, in that we may only see it once a day from now on. Don't know how that works but its okay. Some of the siggies are huge!

We had a doozy of a thunderstorm last night. Much lightning and thunder and rain like someone upstairs was dumping bucketfuls at a time. Should that be bucketsful? I have no doubt there has been damage somewhere and some people will be without power overnight or today. I need to go check out the news shortly. Pity it didn't cut power around here as a neighbour across the road had a bit of a fling last night and the music was truly awful and truly LOUD. Still they did tone it down around 11pm as per the laws around the joint and they don't do it often, in fact they have never done it before so I won't complain too much. A bit of banging around the front yard today may not go astray though.

Yesterday I took my lawnmower to the repairman as it had a bad case of indigestion. Funny looks in my direction. Remember the saga of the lawnmower six or so months back? I did state that I KNEW it had fuel this time and that the oil seemed to be okay (shades of Happy wrecking a mower long ago - see I remembered that) and that I thought it maybe the spark plug. Funny looks in my direction. No, it is more likely the filter spongy thingy he said and promptly unscrewed it. Now DS2 looked at that and cleaned it for me and the result was the same indigestion. I said that there had been a fair amount of dry dusty mowing so maybe it was clogged up somewhere. Probably the filter he said again. But the filter was looking good. It's only six months old said I. More funny looks. Finally he had to give in and check out the spark plug. It is running a bit rich he says about the blackened sparky - don't know about that as it keeps me poor says I! More funny looks. Replace spark plug, pull cord, runs like a very noisy dream. Couldn't have been the filter then could it? $6.00 please. Next........

Tig - nice play on words there. Thai'd one on...... What is your favourite sushi then? I like the temaki (sp?) sushi where they bring out a whole raft of fillings and the nori and you basically make your own. Enjoy the long weekend, they come seldon enough. You two really crack me up. So much like my own parents in the retirement years of their lives (not that I think you are about to keel over) when they took SKI (Spend the Kids Inheritance) to the nth degree and spent a lot time away from home visiting and playing bowls and enjoying themselves and really living without the kids. It's great and I'm all for it.

Madcat - way to go on the exercise. I'm keeping up with 5x a week as well so its all good. Okay, so the outfit is not going to be white. What colour are we thinking of? My friends daughter said that no way was she going to be in white as it did nothing for her at all, besides which was contrived and artificial as to meaning, and walked up the aisle in a strapless fitted dress made from an Indian silk sari material in bright red and gold. It looked gorgeous.

Meadow - you still walking? I think you must be the mistress of understatement on the thread.

Happy - Glad to hear you are getting back to your old self again. Take care after all those anitbiotics since your resistance will be down somewhat for a week or so. Don't want to have to do it all over again. As for the anti-inflammatories - well you have to do what you have to do. I'm sure you will work out the correct dosage soon.
Don't know how the DB2 will react after the event. Maybe it will become a habit to live on next to nothing. Well we can hope can't we?

Ceejay - it is nice to have good neighbours and even better if you know who they are!

Mel - this chick is not that subtle as to have a handy baseball bat lying around. A quick bash across the side of the head with a piece of 4x2 with nails in the end gets the message across faster! You are going well with the exercises - just take is slowly and don't overdo it, you hear. The words 'bull at a gate' come to mind sometimes with you. You and DS2 should get on well together. He can't do things by halves either. Either he is horizontal on the couch doing a bit of Maori PT and watching the tv through the back of his eyelids, or he is flat out doing whatever has to be done in the shortest possible time.

Hiya Turtle - way to go on that exercise. You just gotta sweat. No point in doings something and ending up looking just as you started. There is obviously no effort put in there. Sweat is good.

Holly - that is a terrible excuse for not posting pictures.

Painter - sounds like you are getting it back together. And here is a pat on the back 'pat' 'pat' for not snacking at midnight. Believe me I know all about #$%^ insurance companies and their quest for getting as much out of you without giving anything back. Surely they have on file your credentials?
Sorry, can't send rain as we need all we can get here. You will have to do your own rain dance I'm afraid. None of this rain is falling in our catchment areas - do you get the impression that the catchment areas may be in the wrong place? But at least it waters the garden. Makes digging somewhat easier as well.

I'm still on the wagon as far as food, exercise and water goes. Yesterday I made an incredible Chicken Curry Laksa for my lunches. Its full of spices and vegetables, noodles and herbs. The recipe came from my new low fat cookbook and is only 8g of fat and 225 calories and is very filling. I have enough for the next 4 days as well.
The water is over the 2 litre a day mark, often around the 3 litre mark but not less than 2.4 litres since that is 4x 600mls bottles (600mls is a pint) so thats going okay.
Exercise is doing okay as well, although I may have to change the routine shortly as it is getting mundane. I've added in the abs and crunches to the gym workouts as well.
However with all this good stuff, I have also added a kilo. I think it is water weight as I can see I am holding a bit. I think it is the summer weather. I seem to soak up fluids like a sponge despite the running to the loo and the big sweats both in the garden and the gym. I can see it in the wrists especially at the moment. The diuretic doesn't seem to be working as well as it should.

Okay, there were other things I thought of to say but hey, no doubt I will think of them again. See ya.

PS - Lisa I see you have snuck in while I was chatting up a storm. Nice to have you back.

  • Ahem! I knew my CyberMother would be hunting me down. Hi Ladies! I hope no one minds if I join this circle of friends, with so many amazing people. Mel, thank you for the invite. Now everyone will know who to blame. Yes, I'm back to the journals, and after surviving the building of the new house, we're getting ready to move in. I finally have a kitchen where I can prep, and cook, and I have more than 18" of counter space. I don't know what I'll do with myself.

This is just a quick stop in, since we're on our way to the new house with more blinds, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and tools. Hubby got me a Swiffer duster, and hopefully that will help me reach some of the plant shelves & areas that I can't really get to. Tomorrow, I'm cleaning 39 windows, inside and outside, and trying to hang blinds. Wish me luck- hubby will be helping with the blinds, and if we are still alive, and married after this event, it will be a miracle. 2 very stubborn people should not both be trying to be in charge, right?

Have a wonderful evening, and great weekend!
  • My favorite people
Well, hail hail the gangs all here. I'm so glad to see Jennifer here. She's my coach from WAY back. Great to see ya Dragon. Best of luck to everyone. This is going to be a GREAT GROUP

  • LindaT may have The Prod, but MEL obviously has some sort of bait and tackle for people... Casts the net and reels 'em in !!
  • Wake up!!! We were on page two!!! Had to go hunting!

I am still in vacation mode.I am just kinda half into things. I babysat all week but there were no deadlines, kids to get to school etc. It was enjoyable.
DS has 2 hockey games today. I have some Avon to do. Vacuuming. Food has been good. I have been really gassy with all the fruit and veg, even crampy sometimes. sigh. Been doing some more yoga. No walking yet. In the 3 hamlets around here I can drive, park and walk to deliver books. That will be easier with kids in school. My guys are too slow and it is too far for them to do it too. Everything is spread out here.
    My brain is fairly empty!!!!

    Happy weekend!!
