So far so good today. :carrot:
Slept through alarm clock (buzzer AND radio) and was almost late to radiation. Made it, though. Came home to find out that DH had woken up in the middle of night with horrible headache. Good news: it was now gone and we went out for breakfast. :D Had a waffle and a banana. Maybe not PERFECT choice... but this place's omelets drip fat... and this tasted really wonderful. Ate slow and read the paper and talked to proprietress.

Picked up a few things around house, and came to computer. Am avoiding writing a promotional newsletter... there are some technical/uploading issues at the end of the project that Im avoiding..... You'd think I'd just forge ahead.... but I'm not. I can do it. I'll at least do the forging ahead... it's OK if I need to ask for extra help on the uploading part. (All that converting from Word to Web-format and PDF and what to name the files so the server knows which ones I'm talking about. I did it about 8 months ago... but THOSE neural connectors are probably fried by now.

Oh... and the tenderness they warned me about with radiation is coming on. (I don't wish the feeling of sunburned titties on anyone.

Happy~ phase 1(2 weeks) is strict and then are no carbs at all, it is like a detox but in phase 2 you can have 1 fruit a day, and whole grains like oatmeal or whole wheat pasta, it is 1-2 servings a day and portion size matters. I had a 1/2 cup whole wheat pasta last night. It is not phase 1 but still a good SB choice.
If you go to the South beach forum on 3fc they have stickies with the food lists. I am finding phase 1 hard to do but I have stopped a LOT of the unhealthy carb choices and added 3-5 c of veg a day.

thanks very much for the info Holly, I may have to give this another look again

Shad 10-26-2005 02:52 PM

I see the Panter snuck in there while I was reading and checking out the thread. Can't stay for long as I have to finish putting the last of the stuff in the bag and and getting myself ready for the flight. DB2 will pick me up in about an hour and you can bet he will be on time this morning. How come he can make it on time for this but when I am taking him somewhere he finds it all to much to be on time? Maybe because I am only the sister and not the boss or words to that effect.

So the flight day has arrived. I leave here to go to Cairns and switch to International from there. Arrive in Japan at 1845 tonight. Japan is 1 hour behind Australia, so wont have a problem with time zones this time.

Happy, gentle stretching and using the muscles again and again is the only way to get rid of the stiffness and keep the muscle motivated as far as I am concerned. If you sit around saying oooooh and aaaaaah each time you move then the muscle wins and sinks back into oblivion. However if you tell it that it will get better by moving and move it, I find it doesn't take long for the stiffness to go away.

Ceejay - Are you aiming for Superwoman status? all those drums. Do be careful. Rolling is fun, but how do you stand them back up again. Good going on that exercise again.

Holly - Of all the "eating plans" around the place, South Beach seems to be up there with WW as far as sensibility goes. However that phase 1 must sort out a lot of the starters really quickly. I suppose WW pasta is better than the real stuff but I don't think it is strictly OP!? Might be wrong - but whatever it seems to be doing you some good, you seem to be a bit more - I'm trying to choose a word here - not stable as such, not controlled as such - maybe more evenly distributed through your day. Does that make sense? Probably not - it's 10 to 5 in the morning and I'm trying to get my brain into high gear! More coffee - shower - that might do it.

PW - doesn't sound like fun that sunburned feeling. But just remember the outcome that you want. It's worth the discomfort.

Okay, better go and finish the packing and tidy the house. Be good while I am away. I shall be in touch as I can. Probably every couple of days. Mel thank you for the bon voyage smilies. And thanks to Tig et al for the good trip wishes.

0 days to go. It's Here!!!!!

ceejay52 10-26-2005 03:18 PM

Holly thanks for the information. I've just printed off the heatlthiest food list. Also printed off phase I and II. I'll probaly skip phase I and go into Phase II. I want something I can live with the rest of my life.

More later.

Hollyhock 10-26-2005 04:17 PM

whole wheat pasta is OP for phase 2, page 198 in the hard cover book, jusy double checked. All the starches are to been eaten "sparingly".
Shad~ it is helping me stay on track and I do feel like like I am detoxing from years of bad eating habits. It is not easy either but it is getitng there.

I always tried to follow the Canada food guide and then make good choices. a lot of what I did was "low fat" thinking. It didn't work so. I will see how this does. It is VERY important to have stuff prepped ahead.

Happy travelling Shad!!!!

Hollyhock 10-27-2005 07:25 AM

Waxing philosophical. I have made some positive diet changes for the first time in months. I got to thinking last night about the whole process. When i first started to really focus on weight loss it was 2 years ago. I did well in the beginning but then the old habits crept in. Emotional eating. I have kept that initial 18 lbs off, thankfully.
Then a bunch of weird and tragic things happened and the bottom fell out of my world. Stir that in with a high needs son and I had used up up all I had to give. The process then became more about emotional healing.I ended up letting go of my closest friendships. Regaining closeness with my husband. Finding new strength to cope with my son. The last leg of this has been confronting and standing up to my family. It has come to a decent resolution too.
I am working at a home based business which is what I love to do. I am an entrepeneur at heart. I have found a great niche at the school.I feel good about my work at church. I am earning okay income and still am at home for my family.
It finally feels like I am at a place where I can put the energy into planning my food and following a plan without all the baggage.

That's good Holly, sounds like you are at peace with yourself which is always a good place to start back on the right track again.

I am delighted, the Chicago White Sox have won the World Series Title. The last championship was 1917 so it's a long time coming. And... didn't have to wait until 2am for this game to end either!

I woke up this morning and my first thought even before I threw off the covers was that you can't accomplish anything if you spend the evenings sitting in front of the TV. I'm mentally gearing up here. Already working hard on the food and water part. Walking down the stairs this morning I actually have hope that this pain is going away. I have a new appreciation for those of you who live with constant, chronic pain. :grouphug:

And if I had any doubts that I was no longer allergic to cats, they were erased this morning. Stray kitty was looking for food and a good cuddle. I gave her a good scratching which she appreciated and afterwards I sneezed for 10 minutes straight. Good thing I have allergy meds. She's such a cutie and I'm such a dumbo bleeding heart. She can live here but it will be out on the back porch.

Time to get on with the day. Have a good one all.

ceejay52 10-27-2005 11:35 AM

Today I'll be going to Jonesboro to the Podiatrist to pick up my new shoes. I want to get there about one and then drive out to see a girlfriend. She has been having a rough time physically and emtionally, mainly emotionally. She is one that will diagnose herself and when the doctor says that is not her problem she gets upset.

I finally decided to put all this about Lisa on Tim's plate so to speak. I'm through with it. I'm not going to be writing down all this information when she is not trying to help herself. He on the other hand may think differently. Lisa has worked here for almost 8 years on night shift. I don't think she knows the whole operation of the plant and therefore is having trouble putting it down on paper. I almost laugh at her because she thinks day shift would be grand. Once she gets here I doubt that she would last. There's more involved than just paper work. Senority wise she is next in line. I do the work of a man. I'm in a man's field and one of the first women to do so. A lot of what I do is based on experience. The one thing that bugs me about Lisa is that she is a con artist.

Holly--I think you and I are in the same boat.

Happy-Be careful aroun the cats. I watched part of the game last night but was tired and went to bed.

Painter Woman--I've been reading your journal. Glad you had a good doctor's visit. One of my coworkers went through chemo. He's retired and still doing well.

For those that are concerned about me moving those drums, it's part of my job and
I've been doing it for years. I just do my best at my job. And I don't roll them on the floor. The cl=hlorine cylinders are rolled on their "bottom side".

Wonder where Mel is?

Shad 10-27-2005 09:25 PM

Morning all,

Quick note here. We are on our way from schoo to Nagoya today. Dont have a lot to report. Things here are fine and mostly warm. Someone asked me if I was cold today but it is quite pleasant out there. Went for a run in the school grounds this morning so that got the aeroplane kinks out of the way. Didn't get lost either.

This keyboard is a killer, very small space bar. I end up with one very long word every so often. No idea what some of the symbols mean either. But it is all fun.

I think Mel is tired and a bit stressed. No doubt she will be back.

We have done a 55 minute English class this morning. Lots of fun and shouting so I think that is it until a kindy class tonight.

Glad to hear it is all going okay with everyone so far. Try to get back tomorrow again.
Now I better get ready to read the signs to the railway station. It's all fun!

ceejay52 10-28-2005 09:32 AM

I have a feeling it's going to get pretty quiet around here for the weekend. That's ok. I will hunker down and get things done around here which is a good thing. Time to see if I remember the combination to unlock the safety and start the treadmill belt rolling again.

I'm tired of being a cow. I will no longer accept excuses. It's time to do something about it once and for all and that's what I intend to do.

Enjoy the Zorro movie Meadow. It looks like it will be fun from what I've seen on the trailers. Check out Catherine Zeta Jones corset. She said it was the worst part of the movie - so tight and very hard to move around in. She's looking kind of different face wise but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe she's had some subtle work - saw her in a magazine and on a commercial and she had that different look in both.

Have a good weekend ladies - do yourself proud. Hands out of the Halloween candy bowl! :nono:

Shad 10-28-2005 08:29 PM

GoodMorning everyone,

It's raining up here in the hills. Started when I was on the downhill side of the run this morning. According to the weatherforecaster it is to be cloudy this morning and come fine this afternoon.

Yesterday we didn't go to Nagoya, we went up into the hills to a place where you make paper and design patterns on your paper. My paper is blue and I drew what was supposed to be a bird on it, but it looks more like puff the magic dragon! Chris did some thicker more textured type of paper in leaf shapes - sort of. We went to a coffee bar for lunch and had 'Italian' spaghetti (Japanese style ) which is nothing like Italian but for all that was quite nice - tried eating spaghetti with chopsticks lately?

The leaves are starting to turn nicely and I have seen a couple of brilliant red maples on the roadside when we went to a pottery place. Speaking of the pottery place - which is not just pottery - it has pickles and preserves and apples and the weirdest looking veges I have everseen in my life, is built like a space ship and has a cafe and telescope up on the roof. And you should have seen the loos!!!!! Talk about Starship Enterprise - automatic doorclosers, automatic flushers, automatic lights - I was expecting God Save the Queen at the end of the performance.

Went for my exercise this morning - Tig would love it - had to walk up the hills cause they are so steep, But I ran down from the Golf Course and around the baseball diamond and past the gym and then went out the top gate and ran down the road - waving and saying good morning to the people around the place all out doing their gardening or beekeeping in one case - I ran faster past that place - or Tai Chi. Got home in around thirty five minutes with a good sweat up so guess I managed about 3 or 4k. Long hot shower and a big breakfast - Chris is big on big breakfasts. Apparently lunch is Soba noodles and then we are going to Toki for a kindergarten class - I may go and do some shopping if we are anywhere near shops that is and I can find them - Some shops don't look like shops. Wouldn't mind going back to the pottery shop and will do so if it is not too far away from the class. Chris says it is not - we will see.

This afternoon I believe we are off to a Ninja museum and something else up in the hills. Tomorrow I believe we are going to Grandma's Market. I say I believe because sometimes the things that happen in the day are not what was discussed the night before, but it is all good fun.

Chris seems okay - a bit p*ssed off that things are not coming right as quickly as she would like but she gets around. I'm always a bit worried that I might be making her move too fast or too far. But she says that she will tell me if she is tired or stretched. She has lost a lot of weight - much that she really could not afford to lose, but says she has put on several kilos since she came home from hospital and wentback to work.

And that is about it for today. I'll be back tomorrow if we come up to school.

Have a good weekend and have fun.

happy2bme 10-28-2005 11:50 PM

Shad, that was a lovely recount of your day in Japan. I could imagine being there right beside you. Sounds like you are having not only a good, but also very interesting trip. We look forward to hearing more.

I had heard rumours that the Japanese were really into innovative toilets and you just confirmed that.

Looking forward to the next installment...

And I did get the treadmill going without a problem. And we now have 4 cats visiting the yard. They must be passing the word on the street. And it also looks like we finally have neighbors in the house next to us that has been up for sale since when we moved in at the beginning of the year. We have a large privacy fence so we'll have to go over and knock on the door in order to meet them.

SOMETIMES I MYSELF HAVE TO SAY "LET TOMORROW TAKE CARE OF ITSELF" AND JUST GET THROUGH TODAY. I KNOW YOU SHOULD REALLY BE EATING HEALTHY WHILE IT'S ALL GOING ON BUT EMOTIONAL COMFORT IS IMPORTANT TOO. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO SAY..."WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THROUGH THE DAY"...KIND OF PEOPLE.
BECAUSE LET'S BE HONEST...THE WEIGHT ISSUE WAS A PROBLEM BEFORE THE CANCER. THIS BREAST THING IS TOP PRIORITY RIGHT NOW. IF YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON THAT THEN SO BE IT. KEEPING HEALTHY FOODS LIKE FRUITS AND NUTS OR WHATEVER YOUR LIST HAS ON IT IN THE HOUSE, AND KEEPING THEM HANDY, MIGHT HELP GET YOU THROUGH THE DAY A BIT MORE HEALTHIER.
I SEND MY LOVE AND ALL GOOD THOUGHTS YOUR WAY....LET RALPH SHOW US BOTH HOW TO LOVE OURSELVES MORE  I HAPPEN TO THINK YOU ARE DOING A FABULOUS JOB. YOU HAVE HELD YOURSELF TOGETHER ALL THIS TIME AND I THINK THAT'S A GREAT THING. THAT'S MY OPINION AND I AM STICKING TO IT!

AB ON ANY DAY IS A GOOD THING. I W3ATCHED A BIO OF HIM OR MELANIE, I FORGET, BUT THEY ARE VERY FROUNDED IN EACH OTHER AND THE KIDS AND IT WAS NICE TO SEE "REAL" PEOPLE IN THE MOVIE BUSINESS. I JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T END UP LIKE MOST OF HOLLYWOOD'S MARRIAGES. I HAVE ZORRO HERE AND NEVER WATCHED IT!! NOT BIG ON ACTION MOVIES HERE. LOL THANKS FOR THE GOOD THOUGHTS TOO :encore:

:carrot: HOLLY~ I HAVE BEEN MEANING TO ASK....WHAT IS WITH THE LONG JOURNAL THING HERE? I DON'T REMEMBER READING WHERE YOU FIRST STARTED IT OR WHY? JUST WONDERING WHAT BROUGHT IT ALL ON. HOW GOES THE AVON BUSINESS? PICKING UP? FUNNY TO SEE THE HOLIDAYS COMING ON SO FAST TOO! WHERE DID THE YEAR GO? SO DOES THAT MAKE YOU A GROUPIE?!?! SHAD IS RIGHT....INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!! :lol3:

I THINK I HAVE ALREADY TOLD YOU THIS....THE VEGGIE MAN COMES ON FRIDAYS NOW SO I JEN AND I BOUGHT QUITE A LOT. HIS STUFF IS SO-SO. NOT THE BEST BUT FAR FROM THE WORST. THE PRICES ARE RIGHT BUT SOME STUFF NEEDS EATING RIGHT AWAY. SO WE ARE SHOPPING ACCORDINGLY. EVERYTHING IS $1 A BAG SO I BUY WHAT IS A BARGAIN...NOT CORN THOUGH!
I WANT TO MAKE A TURKEY MEATLOAF. TOUGHT OF PW'S POST AND IT WILL BE A HEALTHY COMFORT FOOD. MY GRAM ALWAYS MADE MEATLOAVES! LOL
STILL WORKING ON THE ANGER/FEAR ISSUE. MUST BE GETTING SOMEWHERE CAUSE I DON'T NEED AS MANY TISSUES THIS WEEK.  AND I WASN'T IN THE OFFICE ALL WEEK. JUST COULDN'T STOMACH THE PLACE.
I HAD A PROBLEM AT THE FOOD STORE. FEELING FAINT. IT WAS THE LOW SUGAR THING THOUGH. HAPPENED AGAIN BY THE VEGGIE MAN. CAME UP AND HAD THE PB ON BREAD.... ALWAYS WORKS. GUESS THE SOY BAR WASN'T ENOUGH FOR BREAKFAST WHEN I TAKE THE CODEINE. THE DRUG KILLS THE APPETITE SO I DON'T EAT ENOUGH DURING THE DAY/NIGHT AND THEN THE NEXT DAY THE LEVEL IS WAY TOO LOW. (SIGH) THIS TOO SHALL PASS. :cp:
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEEKEND:MOPED:

happy2bme 10-29-2005 10:45 AM

Good morning ladies,
Mel, you're just a jumpin' jack flash with all those carrots this morning! I feel some positive energy coming out of you. Must be all those veggies you have to eat before tomorrow. :s Sorry to hear you are on codeine - that's some serious stuff. Do be sure to take care of yourself. If your appetite is gone, perhaps it's better to rely on habit for a change. Can't have you swooning all over the streets of Joisy, at least not until I put an advance call to the fireies first. Wish we had a fireman smilie just for you. Meatloaf is good stuff and if you make it out of the ground turkey then it turns into a tastes good / good for you food. So pop one in the oven. I made cook up one myself.

PW I forgot to respond when you talked about the burned boobies. Oh man :grouphug: I forgot that one of the side effects of radiation was that. Hope you are doing ok. My cousin's wife is going through the same thing you are right now. From those of us on the other side of the fence, we want to help, to comfort but we feel so powerless and helpless. I guess the best thing I heard was from a survivor a long time ago. She said that each day that you wake up you have to decide - am I going to live and make the best of it or just give it up and lay down and die? Hopefully you will decide to make the best of it. C'mon, it's a cool but sunny day. Let's go for a long, slow walk and you can get it all out. I've got some issues of my own, we can take turns listening and hopefully motivate each other a bit. I'm quite a yakker, I bet you can be too - we'll probably get 5 miles in before we notice it. :gossip:

Ceejay I see you have a busy weekend ahead of you. How are those new shoes? Hope they are comfy. It gets to the point where you start to really appreciate the importance of well fitting shoes vs shoe pain and problems. I have fat all over my body except for the one place I lost it - the bottom of my feet and now it's bone on skin - ouch. Anyway have a great productive weekend.

Holly - have fun refinishing great grandma's trunk. Sounds like it will be quite the show piece when done. Those are such neat things - especially for a small child to play in :o

Meadow - how was the movie? Are you still in dreamland with AB?

Shad, got a good giggle when you said you were out for a run and ran "a little faster" when you got to the beekeeper's place. I could just imagine that. I think it's great that you are keeping true to your exercise program even on holiday. Look forward to hearing more about Japan. You seem to be in more rural areas - I always thought of Japan as rather crowded except for the beautiful garden areas. But then again, it's limited to what we get to see on TV.

Sure would be nice to hear from Teel, Linus and Tig. How is fall progressing up your way Nae - seen snow yet in the big skies of your area?

I have managed to lose the extra weight that appeared a while back. Now to keep the downward trend going. It's a beautiful cool day outside. I just went to fill the bird feeders - there's a yard full of leaves that needs some big time clean up - worth a few calories there. I think I'll go out and leave the inside chores for tomorrow.

One of the guys I work with has lost a substantial amount of weight - about 50 pounds so far. He purchased an eliptical trainer for home use and said that he uses it twice a day. 30 to 45 minutes each time and he says he's not pushing himself really hard. He said the hard part was getting to do it every day so he's focusing right now and just slow and steady and consistent wins the race. It's very inspiring. Sometimes we look at the long road ahead and get discouraged and forget it's the little act of putting one foot in front of the other that gets us there - and the fact that we have to cut out stopping at the "roadside stands" along the way to gobble up the treats

Ok, I'm off to get busy, hope you do too. Enjoy your day, may the sun smile warmly on you. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Weekend YIPPEEE

Morning ladies. Thought I’d pop in and say howdy. The only time I seem to be able to find to get in here to catch up is weekends. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Last weekend I spent almost all weekend (it seemed) in car repair shops getting things done. New brakes, new tires, getting my engine flushed, tune up, new wiper blades and other things I’ve blocked out because thinking about the money I spent makes my head hurt. Of course it was all in the name of safety, so that makes it a little easier to take. Now to convince my wallet of that. Work has kept me hopping during the week and I think I am getting better at it. I had my panel interview yesterday and boy was I nervous. Which was silly because I am already doing the job and I know all of the people who were on the panel.. Anyway, I am delighted to report that I PASSED my panel interview!! I did have reason to worry because another contractor who had been on the job longer than me, who also applied for this same job, didn’t pass his panel. So now my boss has to schedule me for I think one more interview with the CFO. There is a rumor that the division President might want to meet with me, but that is still up in the air. As far as my boss knows right now, I have one more interview to get through. I met with HR last week, which was another odd interview because I’ve known this lady for four years so there wasn’t much she didn’t already know about me. She let it slip that my boss is not pursuing anyone else for the job right now, so I am only competing against myself. So more than likely it’ll be another week to week and a half before my (hopefully) final interview and a decision, one way or the other. This weekend I am going to be playing catch up from last weekend’s chores that didn’t get done and then spending almost all day tomorrow on church stuff (church, bible class and council meeting). BAH.

Happy - good going on the loss. Now you are back to virgin poundage and are ready to kick some butt! Isn’t that a great feeling? That is great you have a co-worker that inspires you. I think it really helps to have someone you see every day living a healthy lifestyle because I always think, If they can do it, so can I! Enjoy the kitties! I am jealous

Mel Mel Mel. How are you doing today? I hope you are feeling perkier and less drugged. A buck a bag for veggies is a great deal! Turkey meatloaf sounds yummy. I am looking forward to the cooler weather so I can make some comfort food. Right now I just cannot get into that idea when it still is getting into the 70s <ducking since I know some of you are really getting the nippy weather>

Shad. I am glad you got to Japan safe and sound and it sounds like you are having a wonderful and restful time. I think I might starve in Japan because I am ashamed to admit I have never mastered chopsticks. I always end up asking for a fork when I go out. High tech potties sound fascinating! I guess the next thing would be machines that wipe for ya.

Hiya Holly. For heavens sake, try not to breathe around all those sick kids. Don’t want you coming down with anything. Isn’t it great to get a clean bill of health from the doctor? I cannot wait until I go into see mine someday and am at goal weight with my great medical tests. Have fun at the Farmer’s Market. I really need to go to the one near me and check it out.

Meadow.. Oh Antonio fix. Slurp. I still think one of my favorite films of his was Interview with a Vampire. Nice wallpaper. ;)

Ceejay - I think you do the work of a woman in a man’s field because we ALL know how much more work a woman does than a man anyway.

Painter . Sorry to hear about the tender chest. I remember when my Mom had radiation for her breast cancer. She went braless when she was at home for the same reason. I hope this gets better. How many more sessions do you have?

Well I only had time this morning to scroll back two pages so I apologize for leaving anyone out in some replies. I need to go make breakfast - veggie filled Shannycakes and another mocha and then get cracking on my cooking for the week. Enjoy the weekend AND the extra hour we get!

Hollyhock 10-29-2005 02:49 PM

Afternoon Ladies!!
i am procrastinating at the moment. I am a bit under the weather with a bit of a cold. Mostly yesterday was looong day and then DS was up many times in the night with leg cramps. I did the farmers market this morning. The party last night was great, I did chocolate dipped apples with each kid( over 30) and, ghost prints, we had pumpkin bowled and had a parade.
It is a crisp, sunny fall day. I want to get out in the garden and transpalnt some periwinkle. I need to write the church newsletter and do some bookkeeping and my house is it's usual pigsty. The boys are at hockey right now so it is quiet!

Mel~ Yes ,I was a bit a of a groupie in the good old days. Met some sorta famous people. Did hair for a lot of bands. It was pretty cool.
The journal was a idea an old tops friend gave me. I like that is makes you look at things individually and keeps me more accountable, rather than random blathering. Just thought others might like the model.
Take good care of yourself, okay?
Okay, dirt to dig out there.
HUGS and well wishes to everyone!!!

linus 10-29-2005 06:26 PM

hey im here but not sane and not sleeping had to put the we man on formula so sufferring withdrawels and very very sore boobs i now have a foot wide exclusion zone around my body lol will get back soon now hes hopefully settling down
love to you all
kirsty +all the evils

Meadow 10-30-2005 02:00 AM

Hey Linus-good to see you popping in. Hugs for the sore boobs and give your CJ a nose wiggle from me :D

Mel-Well now you do have some catching up to do, not having seen Upstairs, downstairs is just not on... check the library ;) It was a great show, really well acted. I hope you are decorating with bright colours to cheer yourself up, do you have a red pillow? a yellow blanket? You need to create some zing! I am on the hunt for some red pillow, should be lots about now, with CHRISTMAS only two months away :dizzy:

Holly-Sorry to hear the cold sniffy bugs have caught you. Drown them in orange juice *diluted ;) and take a nice, long warm bath and allow them to vaporize away. Kick the clutter under the couch, no cleaning up until you can lower your head without it making your noggin getting flooded.

Linda-congratulations on the interview, sounds like it is a bit of stress there. It is tough when you are being interviewed by more than one person, good luck, I hope it all works out for you. Time to get out the Donald Trump book and work some deal magic with the big wigs ;) Pretend you already have the position and relax, you know your stuff. They are idiots if they don't snap you up!

Happy-Oh, those eliptical things look like they would hurt your hips, take it easy and warm up first. Congratulations on getting back to a weight where you felt you had it figured out. Best of good energy, long may it continue.

Shad-what does the air smell like there? Is it more humid than down under? Being an island I'm guessing it would be. Whenever I see a picture of Japan, I think of volcanos, are you visiting any of those? You sound like you are enjoying your stay and I'm glad to hear Chris is a sensible sort and has let it be known that she will chirp up if it all gets too much for her. A tourist can be a very draining companion ;)

PW-Ouch, are you putting cool washclothes on them? Gosh, much sympathy pains being felt here, I hope that isn't a lingering side affect. Did they give you an idea on how you could ease things? Peppermint lotion to cool or cucumber cream or something? What are you doing to take your mind off of it? Have you been thinking about treating yourself to a pedicure/manicure, new shoes? I look at Antonio Banderas to bring a smile to my face, but everyone is different... what makes you grin?

I was up visiting the neighbours in the depression posts because I thought maybe I was suffering from that but I guess I'm not. I don't feel like I'm in a black hole, more like I'm on a hamster wheel going around but not progressing very far, you know? Sigh, can you tell I got into Halloween treats? My husband went and bought crunchy cheetos (my favourite) instead of some other crap that I could resist. (I think my doing the 4mile WATP is scaring him :P ) Just letting myself down and feeling like punching something, I need one of those workout bags. I saw a movie with Paul Hogan (he was an angel) in it tonight where he was working out on one and I thought yeah, cool!
Antonio was fabulous as Zorro, he looks good in and out of the mask ;) Lots of action, comedy and explosions. The sound was a bit too loud but that seems to be the way they put the movies together these days, can't seem to get it equalized between the dialogue and the music.

:wave:How is the weekend going Ceejay, Teel, Tig?

MELODY525 10-30-2005 08:29 AM

I would wait forever for those lips of wine
Build my world around you , darling
This love will shine girl
Watch it and see
If you give a little more then you're asking for

I , I just want to be your ev'rything
Open up the heaven in your heart and let me be
the things you are to me and not some puppet on a string

I feel terrible thet I dont have time these days to write more personals. I read every word each of you write and frankly I could easily spend 2 hours here "chatting" every morning. Ss I type this DS and the cat are leaning on me ,1 meowing and the other brrrroooming like a dirt bike...lol. HUGS and love ladies.
Laughing my A$$ off.
I slept til a glorious, beautiful 8:30am. Lounged in bed for a bit. Made a coffee, sat down at the computer, DH was reading the paper , the kids were watching cartoons, life is just peachy and then AAACKKK! The time change. The kids and I scrambled into clothes and ran out the door to church. UM! No one was there. FALL BACK. BACK.It was 8am not 10am. Weeeeheee. SO now I am home again having coffee #2 and will have some oatmeal in a few minutes.
I bought a homemade apple pie and the market. I ate one piece. it was soooo damned good. It was a treat for all of us but I REALLY wanted it. Kind of a reward for a week well done. Not good to reqward wiht food. Just knowing it was a good week should be enough.
I need groceries and to prep more food so it is accessable.
It was agood day all around. I LOVE having my Avon booth at the market. I also realized that I am paying $5 for solitude. It is so kid free and peacefgul there. I bought the paper and actually read it. I stamped books. I had adult conversation. The added bonus is that I am getting the Avon books out to new people. An older fella came in. Bought us all coffee. He is the prez of the local Lions Club. He offered to pay for a flyer to advertise all of us and the farmers market to go out in a mailing. Yahoo. I will design a flyer and off it goes.I LOVE this community. I came home and ignored the housework and gardened for 2 hours. It was sunny and breezy. Thern I made a roast pork loin dinner. I had found a jar of prepared kale at the store . I made it up for myself, mmmmm. My Oma always served kale when I was a kid. It grossed everyone else out but I loved it. I burped East Germany all night. AND it is super healthy.
I wrote the Nov church newsletter in the early evening. DH vacuumed upstairs!!!! I watched some skating and then Trading Spaces, tidied during the commercials.
It is all GOOD.

Church this morning and then home for lunch and then into the city to see Grandma and do 2 other hair appts.
Love to the chickies!!!

Tig 10-30-2005 08:00 PM

My laptop had crashed (again) so I had to recover it for the jillionth time from the recovery disks. Not a big deal except I had to sign into the forum to be able to post. I had a brief moment of panic when I tried to remember my password! What if I had to sign in as a different name and nobody knew who I was!?!? :dizzy:

Holly, I understand exactly what you are talking about. I read faithfully every day and really enjoy reading everyone's news. I wish I could have grabbed a fork and had a tiny bite of pie, by the way. By the time that I have a minute to sit and post it's really hard to comment to everyone. I certainly do make lots of comments while I read, but no one knows unless their ESP is turned on High!!

I broke my third pair of glasses in a year this week so we made another trek for new glasses today. Not only did I break the frames somehow (not telling), I also dropped them on the concrete and the lenses were scratched. I told them I needed frames that would survive a 10 year old. The guy said "Wait here." And returned with a very sturdy frame. I tried them on and really liked them. They look great. Stylish - not Old Lady. Okay, you're all ahead of me, aren't you? Yep, the kid's frames fit me just fine.

Yesterday was the Creaky Bones 5K race and I came in 2nd in my age group. :carrot: There were Explorer Scouts at the turns and I told one of the scouts (probably about 15 or 16) that I was going to catch up to and pass the younger woman in front of me. She said "You go, girl!" So I did.

Last weekend Slim and I went to Daytona was wonderful. I'm crowdphobic so we just looked at the people from the periphery and rode around and enjoyed looking at the bikes and bikes and bikes. I loved the ride. I love people watching. Speaking of people watching, we went for a bike ride yesterday after the run and went to our favorite biker bar for lunch and there we found a gathering of the Red Hat Society. Girls just want to have fun. And they were having a blast.

Ellipticals? I ADORE the Elliptical! I always call it the Elliptical Torture Machine. ETM. If you spend any time on one, you know why. It isn't that you have to take it easy - it isn't as easy as it looks!

Easy hugs to those who need easy hugs. Big hugs to those who can take Big hugs. :grouphug:

ceejay52 10-30-2005 10:02 PM

Sounds like everyone is in a cheerful mood.

The week end was great. Friday I went to Jonesboro to pick up shoes at Podiatrist office. Then went to Sears cause I'm still looking for an electric blanket. I did find one but when I checked out I almost had a heart attack. It was $195.00 dollars. YIKES. I asked them if that was right, but dumbfounded me brought it home. I told myself on the way to Paragould that if I find one cheaper I'd return this one. Told my aunt about the purchase. She called WalMart and asked them if they had electric blankets and they did. I bought the exact same one for $70.00 dollars. Evidently I started to look for them before they had them in stock. We went to Jonesboro on Saturday. I took back the blanket, and went to Target and J.C. Penny's in the new mall. I bought a crock pot at Target. I'm going to like the new mall cause it reminds me of the Battlefield mall in Springfield, MO. We had to get Weslyn something for her birthday. In the near future, Jonesboro will be getting a Kohl's.

Today Weslyn is 2 years old. She had to be shown how to open her gifts but she soon got the hang of it. My aunt got her a Barney video and she immediately went to the vcr and said play. My aunt fixed lunch for the whole family and we had birthday cake afterwards. Weslyn couldn't say happy birthday but could say happy day.

Got up early this morning due to the time change. So I went downstairs to their exercise room and rode the bike for 30 minutes. I took some exercise video's that didn't seem to play good in my vcr to check them out in my uncles vcr. They play just fine in his so I'll probably get myself a new one for Christmas. I've already saved up enough money for this and yes I've cleaned it. I want one that has both vhs and dvd.

Guess I'm long winded tonight.

Tig, I really need to make a recovery disc for my computer. Thanks for reminding me.

Linda, Glad to see you here and hope the next interview goes well.

Mel, Good for you in preparing part of you meals ahead of time. This always helps me.

Holly, I wondered why my aunt and uncle wasn't up this morning. The clock on the phone had 7:30 a.m. but when I checked the clock in the kitchen it was only 6:30 a.m. I still have to change the clocks at my house.

Hello to Linus and CJ, Meadow, PainterWoman and Happy.

happy2bme 10-31-2005 07:59 AM

Good morning everyone.

A good busy weekend is over tho I'm a bit stiff and sore today. Stretch out the kinks. I love the fall back on the clock day. It's the only day out of the year that I feel I have lots of time all day. Nice to wake up early and have daylight out there. I won't feel the same in the evening. I have bad night vision, this time of year I have to race the sun home after work and hope that I don't ever get stuck too late after hours.

Ceejay good to hear you finally found that blanket. They are frightfully expensive. I can't believe you don't have a Kohls. I thought like Wal-mart there were everywhere. Of course now that you found the blanket the temps are creeping upwards again. But as they say what goes up must go DOWN.

Tig good to hear from you too. Daytona eh? I can only imagine the swarms of people. Probably nothing like spring break tho or is it like that all the time?

Holly, your mention of roast pork loin sounded so good I picked one up at the store too. Cute story about being too EARLY for church. :D

Mel, all day long I was humming to that Bee Gees song. It also lends itself to a little dance / sliding with socks on the wood floors too. DH caught me and thought I was crazy (actually confirmed his suspicions) but I said I was just singing along with Mel. :carrot: So you've got all your cooking done and now you're going to race outside with your sheets? Ok after all it is Halloween. You go girl   hahahahahahah

Meadow, my niece and nephew gave us (as a joke) these blow up things you put on your hands called Socker Boppers. It's intended for kids and they can imitate boxing - well actually punching each other when you come right down to it - without hurting one another. They are not only good for exercise but sometimes for a much needed venting. I find a small pillow tossed about with some heated words occasionally allows me to get some feelings off my chest. (after all they don't call them THROW pillows for nothing  )

LindaT always good to see you again, even if it is for weekend visits. Best of luck to you on the job interview. Sending good karma your way... I know they've been dragging this out FOREVER. Geez louise already.

Linus I'm sorry to hear that things have not yet settled down for you. Very soon I hope. 2 sentences from you is better than silence.

Awaiting Shad to get to a computer so we can hear about another area of Japan...

Painter get yer butt back over here. Just don't run too fast to bounce dem sore boobies. What's going on with you?

Teel, Nae same goes for you. Teel where are you lassie? Do we have to send out the search dogs? We miss you.

On with the day. Have a good one. Stay out of the candy bowl. We have the best Halloween decorated house in the subdivision. Why is everyone too busy to care these days? :(

ceejay52 10-31-2005 01:38 PM

James, mine and Tim's boss, told me this morning that he is going to test Lisa. Yipee, and it's going to be essay. Oh, by the way it's a secret!!!!! shhhhh. He doesn't want me to start her on anything more paper work until then. I hope he lets me see the out come. He almost freaked when I asked him.

Holly, I see you are down a pound. Congratulations. How did the party go?

Mel, You be careful taking codene. That stuff makes me loony tunes.

Happy, I'm glad that I took that other blanket back. I bought some Christmas presents with the left over money. My aunt wanted a cabbage patch doll for Christmas and I bought Whitney's Chrismas gift. Pop suggested that he wanted some weights for exercising or a canteen when he's outside working. He almost made himself sick Saturday cleaning off the garden. He didn't take a break to get water, and he's a heart patient.

Shad, it's good to hear that you are having fun in Japan.

hello to all the rest. I'll write more later. This is the first chance I've had today to get to this sight.

Hollyhock 10-31-2005 03:23 PM

Ah man! I am feeling yuckier as the day goes on. DD is home very sick. She laid on top of DH on the couch ALL day yesterday. DS came with me to church and to the city. We had a dreamy time. He was so calm and fun. It was just so nice.
I am super tired but resting as much as I can. I will probably take DS trick or treating and then split the treats between the kids. -DD doesn't seem to care.Thankfully.
I made up a big batch of falafel for the next few days lunches, 6 g fibre, 8 g protien gotta love it, great with a nice big spinach salad!
Supper is in the slow cooker. DS is home is 15 min and then we leave at 4 for hockey. Yawn.
Hope everyone is having a lovely fall day.

PainterWoman 11-01-2005 01:46 AM

November

Does anybody else have to take notes to remember who said what? Maybe I just don't have a clear enough picture in mind of each of you so that when you write something I attach it to your persona, geographical location, avatar or previous posts....

My weekend was relatively uneventful. Sleeping late in the mornings, doing minimal chores in the afternoons, watching hockey or football. It was really pretty, but I'd worn "dressy" shoes and my feet hurt too much to do any walking. Bah.

Shad-- I'm lost about the agenda/purpose for your trip... Is this a leisure tour? Or are you teaching English along the way? I am glad I gon't have to navigate a Japanese toilet... I think I'd need to be hosed down. Or something.

CJ-- So glad you got to return the electric blanket. Sears should be ashamed! And for $200 I want one that makes the bed... or comes WITH Zorro. On these chillier nights, I do appreciate the knit night caps I made in the heat of summer. I can believe that we DO lose more heat out of the tops of our heads than anyplace else. All that hair I used to have was good insulation.

Meadow... I'm glad to hear you liked Zorro... Roeper and Ebert thought it was horrible... certainly not as good as the first one.... Banderas isn't "the one" for me... Tom Cruise was until he got wonky with the scientology stuff and dumped Nicole. I'm liking the much older stars. (Jeez, it would be amazing if I actually acted my age!!) Maybe the reality of DH is enough excitement for me!

Mel-- I hope you are settled down after the codeine. I LOVE codeine.... it always zaps me enough that i forget what my pain was and where it is located. I have a friend in Estonia who went to an All Souls Ceremony over the weekend... she said she didn't quite understand the part about "mushrooms of happiness"... but I bet most of us Boomers have some idea.

Hollyhock... Your Halloween party plans sounded amazing... no wonder you got pooped out latger... Are you doing better? And kids too? It seemed to me that kids always got sick first... then exH... and then when they were fine, I'd finally sink into the pit of whatever they had had... by then there wasn't anybody who was sympathetic. :(

Linus... My sympathies to you... No sleep AND sore books is tough. I remember it well. My #1 child was a chomper. I didn't think I'd have boobs left. I understand that udder balm is helpful... if you have feed stores close by.... I am using clear aloe gel on mine and that helps, too. If you are doing supplemental feedins with twinkletoes, does that mean you still plan to nurse a bit? My milk and nursing "skills" didn't develop with #1 child for several months... it was H*ll at first, but got good later....

Linda-- keeps us posted about your job. Way to go on the interviews.

Tig - you have a smart, practical opththamologist or optician. DS needs new glasses, but I think he has too big a head for a kids siize!

OK. I'm falling asleep at the key board.... Hope all of you are well.
Maybe I won't weigh MORE tomorrow. Sigh.

happy2bme 11-01-2005 07:45 AM

Painter, as far as taking notes, if you're away for a while seems there is so much to catch up on that it's easy to get lost. Happens to all of us. Your comment about the mushrooms made me smiile. So much we have experienced, so much the younger crowd doesn't understand. Wouldn't change it for all the youth and beauty that there is.

We had the house decorated nicely for Halloween. DH carved 2 pumpkins, one of which was a cat sitting in the shadow of the moon. He told me the decorations I had taped to the alcove at the door stoop were going to take the paint off when I pulled them down which would cause him to have to repaint the doorway. :yikes: I freaked and pulled a bit off very, very carefully. I think we'll be ok. Kids didn't start coming until after 6pm - well after it got dark which was a change from up north where they would come out immediately after school got out. Did see alot of little kids coming in groups with adults watching over them. They are so cute.

I was just starting to feel better myself and thinking FINALLY I think my back and leg are getting better. I went to the door to give the kids candy and was standing half in and out of the door - I let the kids pick their choices out of the candy bowl. As I turned to go back into the house, I must have hit the sensitive spot in my back because POW - the pain. I stood there unable to move. So here I am right back in massive pain again. I am so very, very tired of this...

Hollyhock 11-01-2005 11:59 AM

It’s a GIRL!!!!!

DS and DD are the proud new parents of a lovely medium haired, golden eyed, calico tabby, ten week old kitten!!!!
Her name is Rainbow in keeping with their cousin’s calico named Rambo.DD thought Rainbow was more suitable for a girl.giggle.

Parents a kitty seem to be doing well.

Clyde is also doing fine. We are making sure he is still king of the household. We haven’t had a baby kitty around in almost 17 years.

By the way~ this was all DH’s idea but I did have Rainbow in a box and in the van and at the vet within a 1/2 hour of him suggesting it.

Weeheeee!!!

ceejay52 11-01-2005 04:15 PM

Where is the rest of the chicks?

Happy--Guess you can call me a scrooge when it comes to Holloween. I simply detest it. Last night, however, I had to work til 7 p.m. and then stop by Walmart and the grocery store which made it around 8 p.m. when I actually got home.

Holly--Sounds like you are a happy new mother with Rainbow.

PainterWoman--Still haven't heard anything from my sister. I'm getting excited about getting a break from work and from Arkansas in general.

Lisa either will sink or swim tonight when she finishes the report. I told Tim that I was going to tell her to pretend that I was not here. He's agreed to it.

I have had a busy day and am just now getting caught up. All of the reports have been completed and distributed. Didn't want them around to where someone would take advantage of them.

I've started back on the South Beach Diet, but starting phase II instead of phase 1.
Had to force myself to get out of the bed this morning and exercise. I suppose 30 minutes is better than zero minutes.

Is there a new Zerro movie? I loved the old movies.

Think I have found something that is going to work on my allergies. I almost knew that I needed an antihistamine and started taking Benedryl. It's doing the job.

Have a good day.

Argh! Too much chocolate, must escape the Halloween candy, must not let another one pass my lips, poison, evil, sugar laden horror :yikes: :tape: I got one session of the 4mile WATP done on Monday before the evil decended and I became the give me sweets glutten. Tomorrow is another day!

PW-well reality wise, my husband is fine but when I want fantasy fun I look to Antonio:p What age do you feel like acting? I say go for it;) Some days I'm 116, others I'm just the 16, depends on my mood :D I hope

Ceejay-fingers crossed that Lisa gets it together or gets out. YES, Antonio is Zorro and it is an old fashioned fun fest of explosions, comedy and fluttering eyelashes, I only noticed AB's eyes but Catherine Zeta Jones may have been acting somewhere on screen too :p If AB tends to blur the other actors

Holly-aw, congratulations on the new addition to your family. Kitties are such fun, there will be lots of laughs at your house while you get to know her and her personality. How are you feeling? Is your head back from its swim?

Happy-wasn't Halloween fun? We had 180 kids come to the door, my husband kept track on a piece of paper :dizzy: We had been warned by the neighbours that car loads of kids get dropped off at the end of the street because this area has a reputation for giving out the good treats :p I'm sorry your back gave you an unwelcome pain, are you putting hot or cold on it to make it feel better? Gentle hug ((Happy))

Tig-cool, new glasses and they fit and are durable!! WHOOT! you will never have THAT problem again. Sorry your computer crapped out on you, that drives me crazy. This old machine of mine is always freezing. Way to go on your creaky bones run, you are a star!

Mel-has the time change messed you up? What song are you singing? Wake up, little Melly?

 Hello worldly chicks, where ever you are! Linda, Shad, Linus, Teel, Rose and all the rest of your wonderful people in the world :D

Evening all,
Not much time tonight but it is the only time I have and will have for a while.
We have been tripping around to Museums, gardens, castles, flower shows , ninja museums and the biggest garden show I have seen in a long time.

Nabana no Sato is a sort of theme park of flowers. At the moment the flowers are Dahlia, Cosmos and Begonia anb it is absolutely beautiful. My mouth dropped open when the doors slid open and the Begonia house was displayed. I could only say - oh, oooh, oooooohhhhhhh, aaahhh for quite some time. Just wait until you see the pictures. There was an entire field of purple, lavender and white cosmos. About an acre of it. Just delightful. The dahlia ranged from the dinner plate size to the tiny miniature pompoms and they were superb. We found one from NZ and one from the States and one from Australia. Try as I might I could not see Canada or UK.

At Nagoya Castle there was a Chrysanthemum display. I have never seen some many huge Chryssies in all my life. And they had some Bonsai ones as well - again you will have to wait for the photos. There was also some dolls done up in flower costumes - not quite as good as the ones I have seen at the Ellerslie flower show but good - and being Japanese at least one of them had to be animated and make a noise. I went up into the castle - 5 floors of stairs, anly to find that there are elevators in the place (only found that one out when I got to the top) Silly me.

The ninja museum was very interesting and the ninja show good. I don't think I would have liked to get on the wrong side of that lot.

Today we have been in and around Mizunami, Chris had to go to the Doctor because she was getting itchy everywhere. It isn't anything serious but best to get it checked. I walked around town and did a bit of shopping. I'm getting better at it, but not good. If I have an idea about what the conversation is about I can pick up some words but only if they speak slowly. Mostly I can't answer them but I've drawn a lot of pictures since I have been here!

Okay, best get off and let Chris have a go. Then we are going to a Tempura Restaurant for dinner. Yum Yum

Love to all. Sorry I can't reply individually. I just don't have the time.

Thanks for checking in Shad. Your trip sounds even better than you had planned. Can't wait to see the pictures! I can even imagine the look of complete bliss on your face in the gardens. Enjoy some tempura for me. Yum yum.

Meadow - 180 kids - wow! Where do you live, maybe I'll come knocking on your door. :s We had about 30 of them which is probably more than we had when we lived up north. Halloween seems to be petering out tho some people at work said they were out of candy in one hour. (Of course I do wonder if these were people who bought only 1 or 2 bags of candy but I didn't ask). Will be time to start digging out those Christmas decorations soon. Thanks for the hugs - they feel better than hot or cold :) Back is doing ok, just tired of being in pain after looking forward to finally feeling better and getting into a routine again.

Ceejay hope you are enjoying the comforts of those new shoes. Hope Lisa gets exactly what she deserves. Seems like the schmoozers go way farther in life than the good, honest hard working people. I'd like to think not but sometimes it sure seems that way. Ah the wonders of Benedryl - as long as it doesn't make you sleepy. Enjoy life breathing a whole lot better.

Holly enjoy your new kitty. I got a new one and now you did too. How fun is that? Of course mine has to live on the porch but it's ours none the less.

I actually picked out my clothes last night, went to bed early, got up early today and did some stretches and upper body work and I intend to get to work far earlier than I have been. Go me! So I'd better get off the computer before I lose my lead time.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
