Thanks! Mostly I just watched what I ate and exercised. Cutting out a lot of coke helped (I love Coke). :D I still drink one (or less) a day. I just can't give it up completely. I'm sure ya'll understand.

I also focus more on eating healthy. Or, at least as healthy as I can.

If only weekends weren't so hard! At work, I can control what I eat, and mostly at night too. On the weekends, though, I tend to mess up some.

my3suns 09-19-2005 09:59 AM

WHEW I missed a lot this weekend, huh? Short on time but wanted to stop in and give quick "hi". Chris and I were at Nopi Nationals all weeekend. Placed 1st, 3rd, and 4th in 3 different comps. I'm so looking forward to our next show now and I think this was super for "us". I'm also looking forward to starting on my own car now, woohooo! Got tons of walking in, lots of water, and only a few small (not too unhealthy) meals. Gotta get on track this week, next year I'm sportin' a NOPI CHIC tube top.....or at least it's my goal!

the slim me 09-19-2005 11:12 AM

Good morning everyone, Looks like everyone pretty much stayed on the right tract this weekend! Glad to hear everyone is doing so well! I did ok too, could have been better. On the weekends I have so much trouble drinking enough water. I drink coffee all day because my husband does.

faye, I could have written that book list! Most of my favorites were in there. I have read a few Dick Francis and never really got into them, besides that, those are my favorite authors. I read all the time, plus listen to book tapes when I walk!

Got my walk in this morning. Went to meet a friend and we walked around the lake. It was so beautiful this morning.

Make it a good day!

gma22 09-19-2005 01:55 PM

Freda: Just finished Lisa Scottolini's new book, Devil's Corner, am almost finished with Jeffrey Deaver's The Twelfth Card, just finished Nora Roberts, Origin in Death, should get two more today, one called Hot Number and the other one The Thing about Jane Spring, both of which look cute. I also just ordered Parker's School Days, Cornwell's Predator, Woods, Iron Orchid, which is his Holly Barker character, and Balducci's The Camel Club. Nothing like spending ALL your money on books is there? BUT, I can read one a day so in between knitting when the old hands start hurting, I read!

Melissa: Congrats on your wins this weekend!

Sarah: Weekends are the pits, aren't they? I am home alone all day, then cook a meal for dh and I that is good for us, then the weekend comes and we go out to eat and screw around at home and eat junk! It is stupid, but that is something the two of us have to work on.

I have one knitting project, my dgs scarf done, the blanket almost done, his hat almost done (the almost dones need more yarn SIGH!) and yarn to start my ddil's scarf, but need to finish the blanket to use that size needles! That durn blanket has been the bane of my existance!

Better go see about the mail and see if my books came. One of them is a soapmaking book so I am excited to be starting that too! I think my son is going to get me candle making supplies for my birthday, which is a week from Wednesday so I will happy as a pig in slop for awhile!

Faye

rubyblushu 09-19-2005 03:35 PM

I think one of the bigger problems with the weekend is that many of us do special things on the weeken. Like last weekend, I went to a slumber party at a friend's new house to celebrate the move. There, I ate plenty of pizza, oreos, and cheetos. And then in the morning we made lemon blueberry muffins, and I WAAYYY overdid it on those!

There just always seems to be a "just this once, it's a special evening" on the weekends.

Sweet Tea 09-19-2005 04:09 PM

Afternoon Ladies :) Just popping in before I get to cleaning the kitchen. Baby Logan is taking a nap and the other two are having an after school snack - I can smell fruit roll up and I am in a completely different room.

Weekend was actually ok and we had a good time at my in-laws house. On Sunday my dh and I were able to go grocery shopping together and actually talk about relationship stuff. It must have done good 'cause he has sent me 2 online messages of love and called me at lunch to say he loves me :D.

I have been waffling on 2 more lbs down for the last few days. I am not going to add them to my ticker until I see them gone for a few days straight. I have been craving chocolate and bread this past week so I am going to work on increasing my veggies this week. I want to go get some more spaghetti squash and fresh green beans if I can. I was shocked that I was able to get DH to eat the squash but he loved it. He has been doing well on his eating and is down about 8 lbs or so. he gained weight during my last pregnancy and I didn't so he's losing his "baby" fat. :)

You all are making me wanna read some of the paperbacks I've squirreled away. My mom and friend Harriet pass on their crime and detective books on to me and I can read a few a week if I have time. with the kids I am lucky to read one a week or one in two weeks lately :(. One day they will be independant and I will get to go back to reading more.

Ugh, I would love to have someone else come in to help clean this house up. Kitchen here I come...

Hugs !!!!!

my3suns 09-19-2005 04:32 PM

I have to say, my housekeeper is my one indulgence I couldn't live without!!! Even if you only do it every few months, it's sooo nice to let someone else do it!

lucky 09-19-2005 04:41 PM

Melissa, I used to have a housekeeper and it drove me crazy. I am one of those compulsive perfectionist types and nobody has ever been able to clean my house to meet my standards. It is MY fault, not theirs. They did a fine job - but they weren't scrubbing corners with a toothbrush. LOL! Of course, it is all a moot point now anyway. As I am sure you know, nothing stays clean for long with three little ones afoot!

my3suns 09-20-2005 08:12 AM

LMAO, when we got home it took all of 7 minutes to have stuff scattered every where.

lucky 09-20-2005 10:49 AM

I am having trouble getting out of a maintainence frame of mind. I want to buckle down and knock off these last 20 pounds. But, I just can't seem to make myself do it. Part of the problem is that I am still trying to find a routine now that school is back in session. My eating is fine but I need to drop by calories by 100-200 to give myself a jump start but I haven't been able to do that consistently. I'll get there - it just might take a week or two before I can talk myself into it. I guess as long as I am not gaining weight I don't have to worry.

We had an open house at my son's school last night. It was nice meeting all of the other parents. I am the assistant room mom this year and it was good to get a feel for who we'd be able to count on throughout the year. I love being involved but every year I wonder what I've gotten myself into!

Hope everyone's week has gotten started off right! Have a great Tuesday!

rubyblushu 09-20-2005 11:53 AM

Mornin', ladies. I've done pretty good the last two days. Last night I had to have an extra coke (sometimes the craving just won't go away), but I managed to say "no thank you" to my dad when he asked if I wanted a candybar. I walked yesterday, and for once I got up early and walked before work. I might try that tomorrow, too. I don't have to be in at my clinicals 'til 9:00, so if I get up at 7:00, I'll have plenty of time.

my3suns 09-20-2005 12:35 PM

That's great Ruby, the strength that comes with being able to say "no thanks" is amazing. I wish I could get up early to workout, but every time I try my hand lands on "snooze" instead of "off"...lol

the slim me 09-20-2005 01:35 PM

Hi again, I'm baby sitting today with my granddaughter and she is finally taking a nap. My hat's off to you ladies with more than one child! She runs me ragged. Melissa: I envy you, I want a housekeeper too! But I know I would clean the house before she got here. Can't have any body comming in and seeing a dirty house!

Tricia: Those last few pounds are the worst! And you get so few calories to play with every one counts! It always takes me awhile to get in the right frame of mind too. After that I'm ok.

Rubyblushu: Do you mind giving us your name? If you do that's ok. You were speaking of clinicals? What kind? Good for you for saying "no". It's not easy but it's worth it.

my3suns 09-20-2005 03:55 PM

My mother says all the time "I don't know how you do it". I was an only child and well behaved if I do say so myself. I just look at her and say "what choice do I have?" lol

Did I tell y'all I'm hitting Coyote Ugly this weekend? Probably not but now I have to rant, I got a suite at a hotel in Buckhead and now all my "friends" have backed out. Looks like I'll be dancin' on the bar alone. Grrrrrrr

rubyblushu 09-20-2005 07:25 PM

So, I'm sitting in class, bored out of my mind. And craving a candybar. REALLY BAD. I think it's a good thing I'm here. I'd have to go to the next building over to find any vending machines. Hopefully, by the time I get home, a couple of Hershey's kisses will do the trick.

my3suns 09-21-2005 08:10 AM

A girl here keeps semi sweet choc chips in her desk, it's not as "bad" for you and curb the craving. ~*~ go away cravings vibes ~*~

gma22 09-21-2005 08:36 AM

Hey girls, how are you all?

Freda: I have ONE grandson and he's 5 and you would think I had 11. Like you, when he is here he poops me out just playing games. When he was younger, whew, I really couldn't keep up with him. Now it is just a bazillion rounds of Kerplunk until I want to throw up. I don't get to see him much (even though they only live across town, another story I can't go into) so I went out and bought a whole bunch of board games like checkers, Kerplunk etc and keep them in one of those little cubes you sit on. When he comes over he heads right for it. At home, he plays a huge amount of video games so this is nice for him. I need to get him some modeling clay and stuff like that as the stuff I had has gotten icky. He is supposed to work with it anyway for his gross motor skills.

Ruby: My suggestion is get you some of the Slimfast bars that are like candy. They are lower in fat and sugar and taste great. Also, if you can't give up the soft drink have you at least tried C2? I don't think it is bad at all and I don't like Diet drinks unless I am eating something. I am a Pepsi person, but I think the C2 tastes more like Coke than the Pepsi Edge tastes like regular Pepsi. At least with these two things you would be cutting some of the sugar out.

Gosh it is hot here and no end in sight. It reached 100 in places here yesterday. I am ready for some fall weather. I took my little yorkie for a walk at 7:30 yesterday morning and had to carry him part way home because he got overheated. So, no more of that until it cools off some.

I guess I better get hoppin. Today is Mop the floors day (since it is so very hot here right now, I break up my weekly cleaning into days instead of doing it all at once and getting overheated.)

Have a good day!

Faye

my3suns 09-21-2005 10:13 AM

Oooh Faye good idea, and the Peanut Butter South Beach Cereal Bars.....OMG YUMMY!

lucky 09-21-2005 10:28 AM

Faye, my kids are about the same age as your grandson and one of our favorite projects is making our own play dough. I don't know if it would be as good as modeling clay for developing his motor skills since it isn't as stiff, though. But, if you want to try it here is the recipe: 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, 2 t. cream of tartar, 1 cup water, 1 t. food color, 2 t. oil - Mix it up over medium heat and stir continually until a gooey ball forms. Remove from heat and let cool.

My kids get excited watching it turn to play dough - it is pretty cool. Also, I don't add food coloring until it has cooled. That way I can divide the dough up and make 4 colors instead of just one. It keeps forver in a ziplock bag.

Okay, so remember the other day I ran my first mile without stopping? Today I made it for 2.25! And I still think I could have gone further but I had to get back home to get the kids ready for school. Here's the thing, though. Today I had gone about 3/4 of a mile and I really wanted to quit. I wasn't tired really I just didn't want to do it. But, since I'd made a whole mile before I couldn't give up because I knew deep down that I could make. So, now, I'll never be able to stop short of 2 miles because I can't tell myself, "I can't" now that I know I most certainly can. I know I should be glad that I don't have an "out" for myself anymore. Honestly, though, I'm not quite sure that I am.

It is probably a good thing that I've come to a point that I am pushing myself while exercising. I can't seem to consistently lower my calories so I know the only way I'm going to shed these last 20 pounds is to burn them off. I need to go shopping - it seems to be my best incentive these days.

Melissa, I am sorry to hear that your friends backed out on you. Tonight was the night DH and I were supposed to go see SonVolt and our babysitter fell through. I'm trying to talk him into going alone. I think he was more excited about us going out together than he was about seeing the band so I don't think he is going to. I am still going to try and find another sitter but it isn't likely with such late notice on a school night (we wouldn't be leaving home until 9 so we wouldn't be back before 12:30-1).

Sweet Tea 09-21-2005 10:33 AM

Mornin' all :D. Just popping in before chasing Beren down for a diaper change. I am pretty sure that smell is not coming from the cat next to me :(.

Those South Beach bars are good but I used to eat The Zone bars and they were really really good. The chocolate based ones were the best. I used to eat them when I worked and it really helped me get through the day and through cravings for chocolate.

I ended up doing my exercise video inside yesterday since it was just too hot to go out with the boys. I felt good yesterday but this morning my left knee fels kinda crappy. I have a touch of arthritis in it so I think i need to watch what I do. Hopefully today we can just go take a nice walk outside and i'll do my upper body stuff today to rest the knee a bit.

today is the first day of Fall right? I can't wait for it to cool down a bit. Evenings in the upper 70's or lower would be a dream.

off to change diaper... be back later!!

my3suns 09-21-2005 11:44 AM

ohhh i'm ready for cooler weather too!!!

rubyblushu 09-22-2005 01:14 AM

I know. It's cool enough in the mornings (I don't need my airconditioning most mornings) and in the evening (I don't feel like passing out after a walk), but the middle of the day is still too darn HOT!

I'm looking forward to fall. It's a pretty sweet time of year. Holidays. Birthdays. Holidays. :D

I'm hoping to talk my mom into trying some new lower cal Thanksgiving recipes. I expect to see lots of those on 3fatchicks starting in November.

I feel bad for football players. They must be dyin' out there.

Oh, BTW, speaking of football...at the hospital bookstore where I work, they have a lot of Alabama/Auburn merchendise. Expensive merchendise. And people by them everyday. We sell tons of the scrubs, and they're $50 dollars a pair. They can do what they like. It's not my money they're spending!

Sweet Tea 09-22-2005 01:21 AM

Hey ruby! $50 for scrubs just ain't right!! LOL

I should be in bed but I'm just not sleepy yet. I had to make candles tonight but I didn't get to go out to the workshop until after the kids were asleep. I got the baby put in bed at about 10 pm. :( I then worked on orders until about 12:30 am. My arms and upper body definitly got a workout this evening :) YAY! I never did do the exercise dvd earlier in the day. Playing with the boys was more important.

I found out today that my DH asked off work for our anniversary next month (on Oct. 31st) so that we can plan a whole day to be together. I was so suprised and touched. I hope we can figure out something nice to do and I also hope we can pawn the kids off on auntie and grandma!! :D I need to lose a bit more weight before then so my dress up clothes fit better! Another 8 lbs would be awesome.

I can't believe that Rita is a catagory 5 storm -- I cannot imagine the fear that Gulf coast residents in Texas and LA are feeling about this. My prayers are with them...

Ok, I think I am getting sleepy now. I will see ya'll in the morning!!

No, I'm Sweet Tea 09-22-2005 02:13 AM

Hey Everyone! Long time no see! I haven't posted for a couple of weeks :( I have been really busy at work and just not spending as much time when I get home on the computer as I normally would. I think its stress from work since I sit behind a computer 10 hours a day. Much needed break when 5pm comes! Tonight...I can't sleep - ick! So I'm sitting on the couch with my cat and my laptop!

Sounds like everyone is doing well! :D I'm glad to read that. I hope to start posting more again in the future. So far everything is going fine with me. Still holding at 16 lbs down, but I haven't weighed in almost two weeks. I should know soon if there has been a change or not. If there has been, I hope its a loss and not a gain! LOL! I have done well with eating, but I really want and need excercise!!

I am to meet my new Dr. next monday who will be giving me the epidural shots for my back (another ICK!). I am hoping it gives me relief long enough for me to be able to get some decent excercise in, to help me lose more weight, to help my back! I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Sara - I was going to call you around 10 pm but I was afraid it was too late. Now that I see you were up, I wish I had called :( That is great news to hear that Bryan asked for ya'lls anniversary off - YAY!! If I can help with the kids in any way, just let me know! I think I am going to have to steal you again soon for another few hours for some girl time!

Anyone wanna hear a funny story? Ok here goes...
last friday I was walking from my living room to my bedroom, and my shorts just completely fell down around my ankles  THAT was a good feeling!

Well ladies, I am off to see if I can finally get me some sleep before I get up for work in the morning :dizzy: I will try to be better about posting! I hope everyone has a great nite! ;)

the slim me 09-22-2005 11:25 AM

Good morning all, It's a cool rainey day here in Michigan. I did get my walk in before the rain started but it looks like it's going to rain the rest of the day. GOOD! We need it bad.
Ruby: My Psych teacher used to tell us to eat a bag of peanuts before we had a test. They upped your energy and improved your brain power. Takes away the cravings too. Not too many though, they can be high in calories. But they are much better for you than the nutritional bars.

Melissa: I haven't been out dancing for a long time. Scoot over, i'll jump up on the bar too!

Gma2one: I baby sit for the kids 2 days a week. I've kept them since they were 3 months old, when my DIL had to go back to work. They have their own rooms at my house and this is second home! So sorry to don't get to see him as much as you would like. How can you have too many people who adore you?

Jawsmom: You ran 2.25 miles!!! You totally ROCK! I walk for 30-40 min and that's about it. I have tried running but I have weak ankels and I always turn my ankle. If you just drop 100 calories a day and burn a couple of hundred you will loose the weight withouht feeling like you're working too much.... it's just slower but you wil get there.

Sarah; What kind of candles do you make? How do you ever find the time! You must be so organized. I guess you have to be with kids anyway.

Sweet #2: I have had those epidural shots 3 different times and I'm ready to ask for them again too. My back has been so bad this summer. I'm ok during the day but it's almost impossible to sleep from the pain. I hate taking pain killers but if I didn't take something I would never sleep! I have a story simular to yours: I was walking down the hall and my pajama bottoms fell off! Glorious feeling, isn't it?

By now, have a great day Freda

my3suns 09-22-2005 01:00 PM

Come on up, there's plenty of room on the bar cause I just broke 200!!!!!!!!! 198.5 this morning!!!!!!!!!!

the slim me 09-22-2005 01:38 PM

Melissa what great news!!! You are going to be looking pretty awsome up there! Tell hubby he better go and take a big stick to beat off the guys!

rubyblushu 09-22-2005 03:00 PM

Sweet tea- Isn't it great when you have a whole day to spend with someone close to you? Especially when you're both very busy.

The Slim Me- Thanks for the peanut tip. That actually works better for me than nutritional bars-I prefer savory snacks. I might start packing a bag of unsalted (my favorite kind) peanuts with my lunch to have at school.

Melissa- SWEET! Best way to celebrate? With a BIG slice of pizza! Only kidding. :D Keep up the good work.

curlylocks 09-22-2005 05:18 PM

wooooo hooo Melissa!!!! YOU GO GIRL! :cheer: my scale finally moved also!!!

lucky 09-22-2005 06:34 PM

Melissa, that's AWESOME! Welcome to ONEDERLAND! Keep up the good work!

rubyblushu 09-22-2005 09:00 PM

I deserve a medal.

Y'all, I did so good today. Not only did I drink water all day (4 20oz bottles-I was in and out of the bathroom all day ), but I passed up both cake and corndogs (I had a lean cuisine instead).

GO ME!

Sweet Tea 09-22-2005 10:39 PM

Way to go Melissa!!!!

Ruby -- good job on passing up the cake and corndogs!! I am such a sucker for cake that I think it would have been hard for me to pass up. Good Job :D

Freda -- I make handcarved candles with ribbons and bows designs. If you click on my name and go to my profile you can see a pic of one of my wedding candles that is not personalized with text. I am actually very disorganized and I am really unsure how I get things done. I think I thrive on chaos and worrying. There is nothing more motivating than a looming deadline for me :).

Ugh -- I hear the baby... I'll be back later!

No, I'm Sweet Tea 09-22-2005 10:53 PM

Melissa - Congratualtions!! It must feel awesome to get below the 200 mark! I definately can't wait for that feeling!!

I am down 4 more lbs today - so that's 20 down on my end! YAY!! People are starting to notice and that is a good feeling. It makes me even more motivated to keep going :)

Today I got to have lunch AND dinner with Sara (sweet tea)! What a treat! She also made those south beach brownies tonight and much to my amazement - they were actually very good!

Well, is everyone preparing for another weekend of being well behaved and passing up all the temptutious things that the weekend always seems to bring??? LOL! We can all do it!

Have a great night ladies :)

the slim me 09-23-2005 09:42 AM

Good morning all, Hope it's a wonderful day where ever you are.
Curlylocks, WHO HOO! Glad to hear that the scale in moving in the right direction! Doesn't it give you a little added incentive to see that hand on the scale go down?

Ruby, Way to go girl! That must have been hard, turning down the foodm but you did it girl! I know when you first start drinking moe water you think you are going to have to get a port-a-potty to carry around, but your body will adjust to it and you will stop having to go all the time. It's flushing out all the toxins!!

Sarah, Your candles are awsome!

rubyblushu 09-23-2005 11:30 AM

Sweet Tea-What a beautiful candle! That's really cool. I've seen homemade candles before, but I don't think I've seen any with that level of quality.

The Slim Me- Thanks for telling me about the water thing. It would be nice not to have to be doing the "I really have to pee" dance all day.

lucky 09-23-2005 01:04 PM

SWEET TEA! What beautiful candles - I wasn't expecting something so extravagant! I had a "craftier" look in mind - but only because that would be about the most I could do. I lack creativity for much more than that. It must feel a great sense of accomplishment when you finish one. Really, I'm impressed!

Loud_Librarian 09-24-2005 11:05 AM

Hi Girls,

I've been away. Went out of town to DC and unfortunately gained 2 lbs :( I'm so upset with myself!

It sounds like you're all doing so well. I'm behind on this thread and having trouble keeping up. I'll try to do better bc I need to! ;)

Going to the lake today to see my family. I'll check back soon.

No, I'm Sweet Tea 09-24-2005 12:19 PM

Hey Kerry - 2 lbs? Hey it could be alot worse. Don't be so hard on yourself, ok? You will knock that 2 lbs back off in no time! We ALL know how much easier it is to gain than lose. You will take it back off, don't worry! We are here for you whenever you need us!! :)

Glad to see you checking in! I am a lil behind myself so I just jumped back in the other day and started posting and read back through to get caught up whenever I get a chane.

the slim me 09-26-2005 09:29 AM

Morning Everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful, productive weekend. I know everyone ate healthy and exercised, right? Everyone but me! I worked all weekend and didn't do so hot! Had a pt. code and that makes me so stressed I can't eat and couldn't sleep! But I'm off work for the next few days so it's back on the wagon! I wanted to go for a walk this morning but it's raining. I don't mind going for a walk in the rain if it's light, but it's poring out! I will still go if it slacks up some.

Remember, today is a new day, a new start.

Go make it a good one, Freda

rubyblushu 09-26-2005 02:39 PM

*facepalm* I know better than that...

Saturday morning I woke up at 9:30. I wasn't hungry at the time, and then started cleaning my room. Then it was naptime. By the time it was time to go shopping with my mom at 3:00, I only had time to grab an Oats N' Honey bar.

That was a really stupid idea. The entire time we were shopping, I had no energy. I wanted to go back to sleep, and I couldn't think at all. Thankfully, we grabbed a bag of apple slices for snack, which made me feel better.

It's amazing how cruddy you feel not eating enough. How to ana's do it?

BTW, I mostly did pretty bad this weekend. But, I usually manage to do well during the week, and I can only hope I'll do better next weekend.
