Jawsmom - I got some jeans at Express the other day - most of theirs are on sale for $29.50 (usually $59.50  ). They have a new thing where they categorize their jeans by curvy or slim and they have a "short" which meant I could get some jeans without them puddling up on the floor or having them hemmed. Yippee
|
I had the day off.. and went looking in the thrift store! I got 5 pairs of jeans a red wool blazer and 4 tops for 11.00$ woo hoo.. I didnt want to spend a lot of money on sizes I am passing thru!! but that was a really good deal!
|
Hey girlies! Sorry for the absence yesterday. I had to go with the boys to an appointment and what should have taken an hour at best took 4 hours. :( I was pooped after that and didn't get much else done all day.
I've been doing pretty well on my eating but my exercise has been lacking since friday. I have let errands and house stuff come before some me time to move my butt and I need to make the exercise a priority instead. I know it makes me fee so much better. Anyhow... I will be doing an exercise tape this morning before doing errands with the boys. It's a 30 minute deal that I think Beren will get a kick out of too. We shall see... How is everyone else feeling????? |
I'm slacking too, thanks to a UTI followed up with a yeast infection. I love being a woman, ;-p
I weighed yesterday though, down 3 more lbs. WOOO HOOO! |
Way to go Melissa!!! congrats on those pounds lost!!!!!
Sorry about the UTI and infection though -- every time I have a uti my DH wonders why I am so grumpy with him. It's so unfair :(. Hope you are feeling better though!! |
Hi Every one, Haven't been around for awhile and missed everyone. Nothing great going on, just work and very, very busy. I have been so busy and tired I haven't even thought about my self or my diet and it shows! I've gained and I'm so mad! At myself! We all have times like that and it's just one more challenge to overcome. but I've been reading everyones entries and it's good to be back.
Jeans.....I'm 5'1" and jeans are always a problem. My favorites are the gap and Levi's! And answering the questions: 1. Food, Fat free jello and FF whipped cream. 2. FAv. TV show, Too many! Lost, CSI, ER. I love to watch ER and Critique. I drive my husband crazy. I set there and go on and on "A dr. would never do that, and Please, I really would have time for that!" 3. What I do for myself. I read. Give me a good book and i'm lost to the world. 4. Color ink. Black. I can only use black ink at work, it's the only color that's legal. Good to be back, I missed hearing about everyone! Freda |
Afternoon gals! I finally found time to get back to you guys! Hope you enjoyed the webpage.
Answers to mini poll: I like pretzels with ff cream cheese and a icy glass of Mr and Mrs T's spicy Bloody Mary mix sans the booze. My favorite tv: Las Vegas, CSI Las Vegas, (definitely a pattern here) all the Law and Order shows (too bad they don't move to Las Vegas... :D ) I Love Lucy (I collect her and have almost all her tv series including Here's Lucy, I liked Biggest Loser last year and the Home Makeover show. What do I do???? I read, read, read, knit, knit, knit, and do puzzle books. Plus I clean house EVERY day like an idiot. I mean, there are only two of us and our kitty and doggy. Unlike you ladies, I neither have a job nor children at home so I can get really bored on top of the fact I have no friends here in Memphis. Because I don't work we cut back to one car and with gas the way it is, I don't feel I can afford to spend a bazillion $$ volunteering. It is 50 miles one round trip to my dh's work then go to wherever I volunteer and then go back and pick him up besides having my dgs's soccer practices to go to twice a week and 2 games of his a week and of course, they are across town so I stay home. Bad for eating though! Right now I am in the midst of almost being finished with a baby blanket for my niece who's baby boy is due in January, a Harry Potter scarf for my grandson for Christmas, which has come out pretty cool, scarves for my two kids and their spouses for Christmas plus a couple books and 3 more on their way from my book club. I occasionally get bored, but my darling hubby takes me out of town on little jaunts all the time (once a month or so to like Nashville or down to the casinos in Tunica) and I love staying home and cuddling up with him, Butterscotch and Fortune. We came home just last night from Thomas's soccer game and cuddled up on the couch and watched Sahara. I am also working on our trip for next year to Vegas. I haven't been in a pair of jeans for years and years. Right now, I am revamping my whole program and trying to get jump started back on that along with my dh. I need to pull lbs off him before he goes back to his cardiologist and the dr has a coronary from him gaining weight eating all those buffets in Vegas! Do any of you ladies have Bellsouth DSL for internet service and do you like it? We are changing from AOL and I hope we like it. Time Warner is our cable here and it is like $65 for the stupid cable modem internet and they can forget that. I don't even have cable right now because I am mad at them and have knuckled under to have it put back in. I hate cable companies being allowed to have monopolies so they can charge you up the wazoo for something that costs them pennies. Blab, blab, blab, I better go. have a great afternoon girls! ***Oh and Beeeeeeautiful children btw!!!! Faye |
Faye, my parents have the BellSouth DSL and have a lot of trouble with it. We have Adelphia cable internet and Dish Network for the tv, we love our Adelphia cable so far, but have only had it a month. Anything is better then dial up though!
|
What are you currently reading? I love to read, I'm just now making it around to the VC Andrews books my mom read when I was younger. Which reminds me, I gotta return this book and get the next one!
|
Faye, we have our internet service through Time Warner cable now but we used to use Bellsouth DSL and didn't have any trouble with it. I worked back then, though, so I wasn't surfing the web nearly as often. It could very well be that I would have noticed more trouble (like Melissa's parents) if I had been online as much as I am now.
As for Time Warner, well, I know how you feel. I hesitate to even post this but here goes...We've been getting free cable from them for about a year now. We cut our service back to the very basics that we had to have to keep our internet connection but they never acutally turned the channels off. I called them and the customer service rep told me that it could be a couple of weeks because they have to physically come to the location. So I waited. A month passed and we still had the channels so I called again and got told the same thing. Soon after that we got a bill for the full service so I called. She told me that it was because we'd cancelled after our cycle but that it would be adjusted the next month. I took the opportunity to tell her we STILL had the channels. Same story. FINALLY, the guy came out but he messed up and only turned off two of the stations. So, I called again and they've never done anything about it. At that point I decided that I wasn't going to keep trying to do their jobs for them and we've enjoyed free cable without guilt ever since. If they ever figure it out that is fine by me since we really don't watch a lot of TV anyway. But, in the meantime I'm not going nag them every month. I nag enough at home already! Okay, I went to the gym this morning and got on their scale. DH suggested that he thought ours was off by a few pounds and I wanted to check. Just as I'm stepping off the tiniest little thing you ever did see hopped on - WITH HER TENNIS SHOES ON! Now, who VOLUNTARILY weighs with shoes on. Heck, I would have stripped down to nothing for the sake of an ounce or two if I could. Anyway, I had to sneak a peak at her weight. Honestly, I wasn't being nosey but I have no concept of what different weights look like. And I kind of wanted a visual of what range her size was. 115 - with the shoes. I think, "good for her" and head on out to the treadmill. Not long after she gets on the treadmill right next to me. I know how silly it is but I find exercising right next to someone like that rather intimidating. Well, I had just increased to a jog and she was jogging too. Which brings me to the point of this long drawn out story. I ran faster than her and longer than her. For a second there I thought she just might pass out. I've got to say that I am not usually very competative at all but, darn, that felt GOOD! And, best of all it was a great reminder that the outside of a package doesn't necessarily reflect what is on the inside. I'd still like to be 115 lbs with my shoes on though! Hope you gals have a great day! |

Good morning all. I guess most of us are competative to a point. I know I just want to be able to do as much as the next person and not look like a whimp, I think a little competition is a good thing if it keeps us going that extra few minutes. And being thin does not automatically mean fit. I know lots of thin people who are not fit at all. My SIL is very thin and her BP is high and so it her cholesterol. We are building muscle and endurance with the exercise. BIG incentive to keep it up. With eating right and exercising we're becomming healthier every day.
READING: I am a big fan of Janet Evanovitch. Her new book just cam out, Eleven on Top. She is so funny. I've gotten everyone at work hooked on her books and my family too, who are not especially fond of reading. I also like mysteries. A few favorite authors are Michael Connelly, J.A. JANCE, iRIS jOHANSEN, FAYE KELLERMAN. just to name a few. I read a lot. I get my books mostly at the library. I can't afford my addiction because I read several books a week. In addition to listening to books on tape in the car! I always have a couple going. Hope every one is doing well and getting fact to focus on dieting and exercise!! Freda |
I guess I'm pretty competative too, I do the whole "see if I can go farther/harder" thing at the gym. I signed up for 48 personal trainer sessions yesterday, I'm ready to see the real me laying dormant under all this fluff.

Hi ! You people are about the most enthusiastic group I have read in a while. Sooo nice!
I wish I was the same. I am old, over weight, out of shape and don't have the desire to change a thing. I believe that's called stressed out. My marriage of 35 years is failing. At least I guess that's what most people would say...when I daily find myself wanting to twist my loco husband's head off and bag it with the garbage ! We are building an addition to our home and having a real time of it trying to find workers that want to pick up more than a pay check. Our son began the project and left with it fifty per cent complete...$40,000.00 after! He and his father are not speaking...and I am in the middle because I love both of them. My daughter is having family problems of her own..which makes me even sadder. And on top of it all I'm going through midlife crisis! It just doesn't get any worse...you think? Sure it does. My husband is trying to buy more land...without a thought in his head that he can't possibly get any more credit right now and he continually brings home more "pets", chickens, ducks, cats, fish, ferrets, hampsters, gerbels, pigeons, goats, and yesterday a full grown not too friendly pit bulldog ! Hello insurance increase! I'm just a little depressed...but I do still believe the old adage that..."In fifty years I won't know the difference! Anybody got any helpful advice? Please write. |
HI Ivy, WHOW, you make my head spin with all you're going through! I've been married for 40 years in August and there have been many times I've wanted to kill him and bury him in the back yard! But you do get through those times, Thank GOD! Just so much happening with you at once. And w've went through the times we've been distant with our son too. He married a girl we couldn't stand and pretty much thought she was perfect for about 11 months. They got divorced then but of course he couldn't come to us right away. Had a hard time dealing with it, but we all got through. And you know you will too! Just hang in there and take it day by day. Like you said "in fifty years it won't be remembered. You will actually be able to look back and laugh at some of this! Hard to believe right now, I know. Hang in there girl, and know that this too shall pass! Freda
|
My advice? Just go ahead and shoot him and bury him in the backyard, but remember when you dump the quick lime on him for fast decay, don't add water, for that will only preserve his remains.
Ok just kidding (except about the quick lime part, that's true). I'm only 27 and married 10 years and I'm having a midlife crisis too. We should just build a commune, hire nanny's for those of us with kids, and sit by the pool drinking Long Island Ice Teas all day. No wait that won't work either will it? Just remember, if the grass looks greener on the other side, maybe it's time to water your lawn. |
how bout we all meet up at a week long spa?
|
ahhhhhhhhhhhh spa!
I go every February to one in Kentucky, meet my best friend there, it's our half way mark. A day at the spa and hit the clubs at night. I am soooo looking forward to that trip this year! Does anyone else take girl trips? I usually take 4 or 5 a year, they keep me sane. Does anyone else love nightlife, if so does your Dh go? I love to dance and party and love people and the "night life". My DH is the opposite. So he never goes with me and it makes me soooo sad. I want to go dance with him (rather then my girlfriends) then take my sex charged self home with him. Ohhh if he only knew the mood dancing puts me in.....oh well. |
Melissa - My DH is a club DJ (I think I mentioned that before) and we are into the dance club scene here in Charlotte. We are planning a big night out the first weekend in Oct at a club when he is not playing (some friends are) and we'll dance and get crazy and hot for one another :o and then go home in a frenzy. It sure keeps things exciting getting dressed up and going out like that together. He also spins at a club once a month at least and that's kinda hot too when I can go hang with him in the DJ booth after dancing to the music he's playing. It's been so good for our relationship esp during these trying years of dealing with infertility. It's a GREAT release.
I've not done the girl trips though. I have flown out to Hawaii to stay with my best friend twice (2 weeks each) in 8 years and she came to me once when I lived in FL. The spa sounds nice. :) |
I would love that, I'm totally jealous!
I am so looking forward to this weekend at Nopi Nationals. We'll be together for 48 hours with no kids in a fun atmosphere. Hopefully that'll pull me outta my "marriage is over-rated" slump. |
I do love nightlife but we very rarely venture out. First of all DH does not dance. And I don't blame him - he's TERRIBLE at it! But, mostly, it is just too expensive for us these days. We can afford to go out but paying a babysitter for three kids requires a home equity loan. So, if we go out it is usually seperately. He'll get a night out with the guys and I'll get a night out with the girls here and there.
Now, here is my awful little secret. I kind of like hitting the town without DH because I still like to flirt. My husband is the love of my life and I absolutely adore him but, I have to admit, I miss the "chase" of my single days. I suppose after being married for 10 years and having kids it is just fun to get back to "me" and prove that there is still a woman buried somewhere under the mom and wife. It is all perfectly innocent, of course, and I would never not be upfront about being married or anything like that. But, it is fun all the same. We do like to entertain at home but that doesn't really create the same "charge" as getting dressed up and going out on the town. We have a regular date night each week too. We'll put the kids to bed and have a special late dinner complete with drinks or wine. Usually we rent a movie too. It is fun and gives us a chance to really focus on each other and just have some down time together. |
Ivey-- Wow... I just don't have words for how frustrated you must feel everyday with your dh and situation. The only advice that comes to mind right now is that you have to find love and peace within yourself right now. It may be difficult but you need to just focus on yourself and the things that are in your immediate control -- like working on your depression (are meds an option? they really help me a lot) and your health. Feeling better about yourself can make a tremenous difference on how you handle other situations and how you view your role and power in them. There is no easy and quick fix but if you can take control of the small things in your life first then others will follow. We are here for you and I know we all offer our shoulders for your tears if you need us. When you do not believe in yourself we are here to believe in you and know that you have the power within yourself to make your life better. ((((Huge Hugs))))
Weekends with just the ladies???? I would kill for that opportunity right now. At best I get a few hours once a month for time alone with my best friend. Last Saturday we had about 3 hours together without the kids and it was divine. It really made me feel good and better able to handle the kids when I got back. The thought of a whole weekend to devote to doing something for me is staggering. Truthfully, I am in tears at the though of it right now. I feel so overwhelmed by this week with the kids that I just don't know how I am going to make it through the weekend. DH has to work all day tomorrow so I won't have his help at all. I am hoping that his mom will come down and take our oldest to stay sat night with her. I feel like I get no time for me other than the little bit I get to go on the computer in the mornings while the boys play. I really need to take my own advice sometimes and do something that focuses on me and makes me feel better. Sorry for my griping -- just feeling pitiful today and need a huge hug. On the weight loss front I am still holding steady and staying away from temptations. If I could have something it would be a bar of dark chocolate. Godiva has a sugar free line that is to die for so I may have to splurge this weekend if I actually get to go anywhere. Reading now-- I still have not finished the last Harry Potter. It's sitting on the table still. Todya I am reading a newsweek bit by little bit and I have a copy of the Funny Times that I have not finished. Hugs to you all!!! I will be back later today if time permits. |

PS I've been married 10 years and have 3 kids too! |

Sara, big ole hugs honey! Do apologize for griping, we're here on the bad days just as much (if not more) as the good days. |
i wanna pout cuz i miss my DBF, he went to work for the army corps for engineers and has been busy.... busy .... busy :( havent seen him for a month now :(
|
Awwwwww curlylocks, it's ok, I bet he's as lonely as you are.
|
Good morning all, I don't know if we ever get over that need to "flirt" just a little bit. Reminds us we are females. And doesn't it make your day just so much better? Who could object to that, especially when it's innocent. Just make sure it's innocent! Sometimes, when things are going bad, the grass looks a lot greener on the other side of the fense. It's usually not, of course. There are just as many weeds over there you just can't see them as well as you can the ones growing in your own yard.
Sarah, Big HUGS to you! It's rough raising kids. No matter how much you love them, it's hard work. And when they are young yoy don't see the end. But one day you will wake up and they will be grown and you will be alone to do all the things you think you want to do. Have a wonderful day |
I just saw this group.
I'm Sarah. I'm 25, born and raised near Birmingham. |
Question!
I have a bacon and eggs question. Every once in a while, my dad will make bacon and eggs for supper. Now, I know we can't be the only people that do this.
Well, last night he made them. I made my eggs with just one whole egg, a big bowl of grits with spray butter, two small flaky biscuits (ya'll know which ones I'm talkin' about), and just ONE piece of bacon (a major miracle in and of itself). I completely avoided the Walmart frozen, almost-the-size-of-my-fist biscuits. Another miracle-I love biscuits. So, my question is, what would y'all do to cut out the caleries in such a meal? |
Quote:
I am lucky to have very few strains on our marriage so I don't usually feel like any other couple has it better. More than anything, we struggle in keeping our relationship somewhere above "roommate" status. We work hard at it by doing things like our date night. But suffice it to that being at all spontaneous is pretty much out of the question for the next severl years. :( But, hey, that's where the flirting comes in! Quote:

As for cutting calories and such I'm with jawsmom, you have to allow yourself these simple pleasures but in moderation not just in portion but in frequency. And of course then watch you intake the rest of the day, don't have a southern breakfast followed by fried chicken for lunch and cube steak and gravy for dinner. |

|
Hi Sarah -- nice to have you here :). I don't think you can cut calories on that southern breakfast meal :D. It would be something we only have every once in a blue moon and usually it would be for dinner or maybe it would be something we would have while visiting my mom. Those biscuits sound good -- I'm on South Beach so yummy kinds of bread like that are a no-no for me. I can't have just one. Actually, for me most processed carbs just make me hungrier and make me feel bad if I over do it. Still... a biscuit would be good right about now... :). So, what have you been doing so far to lose your weight? You have made wonderful progress so far!! Way to Go!
I really miss going out to bars and just hanging out with friends. My brother is a musician and it was always so much fun to go hear his bands play. There were always the same forls around and everyone had a great time. I always loved live music and a smokie bar. Bryan and I go out very seldom. Maybe to a movie here and there. We went out to dinner together back in February... man that's a long time ago. We have maybe eaten alone one other time since then. We have not been onthe same page since Logan was born in March though. My weight really gets to him and he blames all our issues on it. Another story for another time though... My SIL talked to me about the Y and their gym and personal trainer programs. She goes several times a week and really enjoys it. I was a bit suprised at how much it cost but she told me that they have a scholarship program where you can qualify for free or reduced cost memberships. I have downloaded the form to fill out and I hope to have it in the mail by Monday. I hope we can qualify for it 'cause I think the kids would love it and I would absolutely LOVE to get back into a gym. Working exercise int o my day with the boys has been hard and I never seem to get my heart rate up for very long. Do any of you know about the YMCA stuff or their scholarship programs? I really should be in the kitchen figuring out what to cook but I don't want to have to cook anything at all. I get tired of figuring out what everyone will be happy with. I think the kids just want popcorn anyway :D. I can handle that for them. Maybe Bryan will eat cereal??? Hummus and crackers for me would be good. I want something easy that doesn't require a stove or effort. You lovely ladies have a wonderful evening!!!!! |
Good morning all, It's a wet, cold day here in Michigan. We had plans but they included dry weather, so I guess we will have to change then. Maybe lay around the house all day and do nothing. Sounds good to me!
As for the big, southern breakfast. I was raised on meat, eggs, gravy and biscuits every day. Truthfully, I never liked it, especailly the biscuits and gravy. My family swears I must have been adopted. I don't like biscuits at all!!!!! I can eat gravy with cornbread. But, my husband loves it and I do make it for dinner occasionally. When I do have a big calorie meal that I love I just have very small portions. You can't deprive yourself of everything or you will end up pigging out! At least that is what I would do. Have a nice day, Freda |
Afternoon all :)
Freda -- sorry about the rain changing your plans. Having a relaxing day sounds wonderful! My Dh is having to work all day today so it's just me and the kids. Logan is taking a nap and I really need to get the other two cleaned up. We have had a lazy morning too. It is pretty hot here so I am not really inclined to taking the kids out to play in the yard. The grass needs to be cut again so that we can treat the ant beds in the front yard. I can't stand fire ants and the kids are not really good at watching out for them. We are supposed to go over to my in-laws later today to have dinner and let our dd spend the night. They live about 30 minutes away in the same town that my dh works in. I think he is just going to go there after he leaves work. For some reason I just don't want to go. I actually don't want to go anywhere really. My low self esteem/confidence is in full force today for some reason. Kinda weird since I have been doing so well lately. Maybe it's just capping off my long week. Some sleep would be nice :). I should be happy that someone else is going to help me entertain my kids for a little while and I won't actually have to cook a meal. That is actually pretty fantastic -- I am so tired of cooking and being responsible for feeding everyone everyday. Having someone cook for us one night is a nice relief for me. I need to change my attitude to be more positive about today. Ok, I'm rambling here... the kids just aren't good to talk to today and I need soem adult time :). How much water do you all drink in a day? I try to get at least 64 oz in as a minimum. Around 80 to 100oz is typical for me if i am not out and about running around doing errands. I also have a cup of coffee in the morning and maybe 3 times a week I'll have a diet soda. I have only made tea with splenda for myself maybe 3 times in the past month. Feels weird! Off to fill my water bottle and put together lunch for the kids... Hope you all are having a good Saturday. Hugs and Love! Sara |
Sara, I don't drink a ton of water. I usually go through a sports bottle worth while I'm working out and I'll have it with lunch or dinner every now and then. If I'm actually thirsty, I'll get water instead of diet coke or tea.
Drinking more than that has never made a difference in how I feel over all or helped with my weight loss. It has never curbed my appetite or anything like that either. In fact I really dislike that sloshing feel I get in my stomach if I drink a lot of water without food. I keep an eye on my urine - as long as it isn't too dark I know I'm getting plenty. I don't feel guilty about it because lots of recent studies have debunked the notion that there is any benefit to drinking large amounts of water. They seem to think that the original recommendation of 64 oz. a day is about right but that the water in food, coffee, tea, etc. counts towards that total. I'm not trying to talk you out of drinking it - a lot of people swear they benefit from drinking a lot water. I just happen not to be one of them. No sense forcing something down if it isn't going to make a difference for me anyway! |
Hi. I hope yall don't mind if I jump in here. My names Tina. I'm 23 and from North Carolina (born and raised). I think I started noticing my weight issue in high school. At one point, shortly after graduating, I did manage to lose 80lbs and get down to a semi-managable weight. I was still overweight, but not this bad. Anyhoo. I kept that weight off for a while somewhat until I got into a car accident, thats when I really put on the pounds. Today I'm at 249lbs and I'm 5'4. This is week one of my new healthier lifestyle. its taking a bit to get used to. I started walking yesterday with my boyfriend. Its so humid, but I make myself cuz I know I need to.
My vice...PEPSI. I used to drink it like water. Now I've been drinking watered down koolaid with splenda (i dont like our tap water, tastes funny). Another vice...Id have to say just food in general. I don't know. I guess I just sorta eat to eat. Still tryin to find things to do to distract my mind, since I'm currently unemployed. I try to keep myself busy looking for a job and whatnot... Tina |
Welcome Tina, And good for you for taking that first step. Walking is great exercise and as you get fitte you can increase the distance and time. It's the one exercise you can do almost any where/any time. And we all have food issues here! That's why we're here. Sorry to tell you this girl, but ther is no easy solution! You can't just "want" to do it, you have to just "do it". I find if it helps if I keep a journal and record every thing I eat. Yes, everything! Every bite, every french fry, every thing you put in your mouth. It is a big eye opener sometimes to see how much you eat. Keeping a journal also gives you something to do. What play are you using? Actually, almost any plan works if you stay with it. I think some are healthier than other. WW teaches you how to eat and portion controle, but so does South Beach. I don't care for drastic low carb diets. I dont think they are healthy. You will work out what works for you.
Good morning every one. It's a wet, cold day here in Michigan. How about where you live? Sarah, hope you had a good time at your in-laws yesterday and some rest. I know the kids can be a handfull sometimes. Heck..all the time! But, they grow up and go to school! Yeah! Everyone have a good day, Freda |
Well for this first week I'm tryin to control my calorie intake. SO I guess we'll see when I weight myself on monday if it helped any..
I didnt get to walk today. It was so yucky humid out. So I did 5 miles on an exercise bike in 23 minutes doin 14mph. Counts for something eh? |
Boy is this a blabby group!  I can't get in to this thread everyday to post and when I come back, I have to go through a bazillion posts to catch up!
Here goes with some of the stuff you guys talked about: Breakfast change: turkey bacon, egg beaters, NO grits and lowfat buttermilk biscuits (I have the recipe if anyone wants it)! better yet, skip it all and have yogurt! (as for the gravy, I make it with 1% or even skim milk and lowfat sausage from Jimmy Dean for my dh once in awhile) As for marriage, Ok, don't boo me here, but I have been married 33 years in Nov, my husband is a doll doll doll and calls me gorgeous instead of by name. At least a 100 times a day tells me he loves or adores me and in fact just a few minutes ago leaned over me and said, "Do you have any idea how much I adore you?" He married a chubby 185 lb woman who is like 340 lbs now and still thinks she is absolutely sexy. He, like all men can be a pain, but to tell you the truth this menopausal pain in the butt is no picnic to be married to some times either! I really feel saddened for you ladies who have troubled relationships. I have a sister who has been married a year less than I and they are both so self centered they neither one consider the other for a moment. Their life revolves around MONEY! I guess because until 3 years ago we didn't have a pot to spit in (cleaned it up just for you gals  ) we learned to wade through the hard times TOGETHER. Believe me, living on an enlisted man's military pay is like being at poverty level and we did that for 20 years! I may be an OLD BIG gal, but I am a flirt too! I guess it is just inborn in us females. I love the little bit of good attention I may get occasionally from men. We are lovin' our dsl. We had a devil of a time getting them to shut off crummy AOL though. It is in Jack's name so he called and spent 15 minutes trying to get the jerk to cancel and give him a confirmation number. He finally told him if he didn't quit the sales pitch to try and get us to stay and give him a confirmation # in 10 seconds he was hanging up on him (the guy refused to give him his supervisor) so Jack hung up on him, I went online and logged into AOL from my dsl and low and behold the e-mail with the cancellation was in Jack's old mailbox and had been in there from about 3 minutes after Jack gave the guy his info! As the moron signed the stupid thing, I am contacting AOL and giving them a piece of my mind about it all. With that being said, BEWARE OF TAKING AOL AND THEN TRYING TO GET OUT OF IT!!!! I checked yesterday and thank goodness they did cancel us. As for books, I read a bazillion. Janet Evanovich is a hoot big time, Sarah Stroymeyer is funny to with a beautician names Bubbles Yablonsky who wants to be a detective, funny stuff, I like Jeffrey Deaver (he is an absolute doll and will e-mail you back if you e-mail him about his books), Stuart Woods (great books, but a jackass of a person), Robert B Parker (these are the Spenser series, the older ladies probably remember Robert Urich in Spencer for Hirer on tv years ago), Some of Danielle Steels stuff, Nora Roberts when she writes as JD Robb, Dick Francis (these are horseracing mystery novels that are great) until he retired, I am Harry Potter addicted and have read them each at least 6 times, Lisa Scottolini, David Balducci, Sara Paretsky (VI Warshawski is her character and Kathleen Turner played her in a movie a few years back), Edna Buchannan, Patricia Cornwell (these are medical examiner thrillers), and I could go on and on. Most of these people, write series books and I love series books. Too bad we don't live closer together we could get a book club going as long as I don't have to read any of the junk Oprah suggests. I do NOT READ to become more socially conscious nor do I go to the movies to learn something from them. If I can't read something for enjoyment, I don't read it! My soapbox statement for the day! Well girls, need to check my roast in the crockpot. Oh, for those of you who occasionally want or need a recipe that is something in your favorite restaurant, here is the website for it. copykat.com I don't want to put it as a link. Have a great Sunday girls. Faye |
