Talking A little hyper right now--please forgive!

Sleep deprived, maybe!

Seems like stress is the theme of the week now--hang in there everybody!

I read through some posts today but didn't have a chance to post anything myself, but I was thinking about you guys all day today! I know what you mean by withdrawl, kayelle! I messed up yesterday and really thought about going awol on the diet today, but I knew I'd just have to come in here and 'fess up to it, so it kept me straight for another day.

Tonight I watched an Oprah rerun--all about the body and what foods we should be eating and all. They really stressed insoluble fiber because it absorbs extra water and gets everything moving out of the body. Some of it was kind of graphic, but it was really neat to have everything explained in such detail. I'm going to start to pay more attention to fiber! 25grams seems like so much! Has anyone else seen this show? I feel like I just learned a lot about my body. Also, eat bananas, tomatoes, whole grains and watermelons!

I did GREAT on my exercise today--I'm sure my arms and thighs will be a little sore tomorrow, but wooo! My husband says he can already feel my guns!

theresa~you should TOTALLY keep track of your miles every month! That's great! Maybe you could keep a tally in your signature? I tried that with the situps and pushups, but I haven't really kept track since I've been doing this new program. But 100 miles! yay!

iceprincess~Sounds like you found some new motivation to get back on track! I love checking out the success stories--they really do make you want to get going.

Okay-so how many hours till weigh-in, cause I think I hear a plateau breaking!

Hey guys--should we have some sort of challenge for ourselves this week? I am going to challenge myself to consume more fiber! And take my daily vitamin! (i'm so bad about that!)

hey everyone!
I have been so crazed these last 2 days - no time to post -so now while I am at lunch I am gonna catch up..

Laura: I have to be so careful not to start nibbling because before I know it I've eaten more than I should have. I try to be careful and measure everything But there are those times it's right in front of you and I just grab one or two,... 5, 10, 12 pretzels.. goldfish etc..and don't worry about complaining- that is what we are here for.

YAY Cadwell! Whoop 3 pounds down..

Ice Princess- I am sorry you are having stress right now- I agree that reading the success stories are motivational. It still sounds as if you are staying focused!

Kayelle:glad it wasn't too bad with MIL. I used to be sooo sweet to my ex MIL and she hated it.. Drove her crazy because I was so nice and she couldn't complain that I was mean to her..

Melissa: YAY Odessa!!! It is so great when they finally "get it" about potty training. I wil Mentally smack your ex upside his head - I have a good friend who is going thru the same thing- her ex is 4 months behind on Child support but yet he went out and bought a new car with payments of 400 a month..he took a cruise- But can't pay child support- she finally turned him in and he is heading for jail if he doesn't pay.

Melra- My doctor told me not to eat anything white unless it has 3 grams or more of fiber per serving. it took me a while but I am getting a lot in everyday..( gas -x works really good when getting used to fiber increases )

Theresa- Ok you have inspired me to exercise.. 100 miles is unreal.. I am impressed!

I feel fat today.. I know I haven't put on any weight at least I hope I didn't .. but i feel fat..
Have a good day all and if I missed anyone I am sorry-

Regarding trying to eat healthy-I started reading ingredients a while ago and I was shocked at what was in things that I thought were ok. I know it's easier when the kids are out of the house and it's just us 2, but I don't go down the aisles in the supermarket anymore, just for tea, paper goods, cleaning and pet food. Fruits and veggies, fish, meat, chicken and dairy are all around the perimeter. It makes shopping easier and I don't see all the junk that I might still want and I know is full of additives and chemicals and make believe things. I don't buy bread cause I don't have to make sandwiches, and I will want it. The less temptation there is in the house the better for me. A friend sent over home make cookies for my married son and I put them in the car cause if they are in the house, it will make me crazy. Maybe that willl change one day, but right now I have to put temptation out of my way. Silly, huh?

I read this advice a few weeks ago somewhere and it really is true...all the junk is down the aisles! By not going up and down the aisles you not only save calories, but it saves a lot of time at the grocery store too!

Cool

Thanx for the kicks ladies! I am walking again! I have been doing very well with water and food, but like everywhere else-THE FAIR IS COMING! We will be going Saturday, and hubby is trying to talk me into entering my to-die-for chocolate pie in the "Chocolate Extravaganza" contest, the only problem is, I haven't made it in a LONG time and I would want to make a test one first, and then I would have to taste it then I would want another taste and another-you get the pic? AAAHHHH! Might have to tell him I forgot the recipe yeah right! He probably knows it by heart!!

Cadwell- WOOHOO!! 3 lbs!!

Melissa-I am so glad you reposted the ravioli recipe, I searched through about 10 pages the day before after everyone said how good it was!! I have bought everything for it and will be making it tonight for hubby's birthday dinner. My family likes broccoli and cauliflower so I bought both to put in it!
I hope the weather cooperated so Josh could go to the fair!!

Laura-Complain away-we all need to once in awhile! We're here for you and understand the ups and downs, not only of dieting but of just being us! Hope tomorrow is a bright, shiny day for you!!

Ice Princess-You can do a lot in 13 days!! Get going!! Be Strong for YOURSELF! Yu can do it(((HUGS)))
I love reading success stories, makes me hopeful! I don't think I could lose 80-90 in 5 months-she completely cut out all junk and fast food and ate TONS of veggies-If I don't cheat once in awhile I feel really deprived and over indulge-not good! Losing slowly is better for you anyway!

Well, I better get moving, gotta finish the Hope everyone has a great night, and a good WI tomorrow!!

Well the weather cooperated! Odessa rode her first ride this year and loved it! I had 1 corndog and a kiddie cone while we were there but I skipped breakfast and will have salad for dinner tonight. Believe me I think it is the first time I have ever left the fair not feeling sick and bloated. They had a petting area and I took two of the kids in and they just loved that too. It is first time Odessa has been up close and personal to animals. It was a great time and Josh was pretty much under control the whole time too.

My Mom said to me today that you can tell I am losing weight and looking good. Made my day! I am wearing a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear before. I am worried about what the scale will say tomorrow cause I think I am up a couple of water pounds.

neo~sounds like you guys had a great time at the fair! Good for your mom for noticing all you've done and congrats on the jeans fitting! I'm also a little worried about water weight for tomorrow's WI--do you think our bodies know what day it is?

fancyfrog~i don't think I could handle the temptation of making such a rich dessert. Just skip it and instead experiment with a low fat low cal dessert--there's a ton of them listed on this site. Resist!

iceprincess~hang in there. I'm sorry things seem to be going wrong right now. Keep focused on what you are trying to do for yourself. Good luck!

I've already finished dinner and I'm only at about 800 calories now. Lots of FIBER today! I am going to have a great big glass of milk and a multivitamin. I haven't worked out yet today and I'm not really in the mood. I'll try to get out and at least walk once the temp drops a little. And abs...ugh...I have to do abs tonight.

Thanks for the Ravioli recipe Melissa - can't wait to try it!

I have been pretty much on plan the past two days but am up 1.5 from last week??? I guess this weekend did more damage than I thought
We have not been able to walk at work at all this week either- raining every day!

Caldwell - Great Job on the 3 lbs!!

Teachers are back at school this week and a few noticed that I had lost some weight, so that felt good - can't wait till I lose even more!

Keep it up everyone - you are doing great!

I only have a minute but somebody mentioned the importance of fiber and I wanted to say I how important fiber has been for me in my weight loss this time around. I feel like eating a high fiber diet has made the biggest difference for me as compared to the other times I lost weight. I eat more than the recommended 25 grams daily (I recommend working up to that amount gradually instead of just suddenly increasing your intake by a whole lot, though). It has greatly reduced my cravings and I don't feel hungry when I'm eating enough fiber every day. For me, getting enough fiber is as important as not eating too many calories.

What kind of things are you eating for the fiber? I know I am not getting enough in my diet.

I get a lot of the fiber from all the fruits and veggies I eat, but I also eat a lot of high fiber breads, whole wheat pastas, whole wheat pizza crust, whole grain soft tortillas, high fiber cereals, etc. I never eat the regular, low fiber versions of those foods. In the first place...the whole grain foods taste better to me. Oatmeal and Fiber One are great sources of fiber and I love them both. Fiber One has something like 14 grams per half cup serving so if you are low on fiber for a day a big bowl of Fiber One can fix that in a hurry and it makes me feel really full and satisfied. I know a lot of people aren't wild about the taste of it, and I didn't like it all that much at first but now I get cravings for it if I don't have it for a while. I have it with skim milk and a little Splenda and I think it's great. I love oatmeal, too....I usually just make it with water and sweeten it with a little Splenda or Equal. Sometimes I'll throw some raisins or other fruit in my oatmeal, too. I always check labels for fiber content and look for the highest fiber/lowest calorie that I can find for any food. Also with most fruits, leaving the skins on adds more fiber without calories, and the same goes for potatoes.

Hi All
I was just clicking around on fitday and I discovered so many more things. Did you see the exercise part? You can enter your exercise of the day and it will tell you how many calories you burned, even housework. This is such good motivation. It can also tell you about the nutrients you've consumed, or not. I love it.
