Hey guys! Where has everyone been?

Ok. So I woke up this morning... and I realized just HOW bad I DO NOT want to look like this come cruise time. I just don't want to. I want to lose weight and be so much more healthier. I even told Troy that I didn't want to go to Sonic tomorrow! Cuz we were gonna try it. But no, we won't go. I just have to do this. I don't want to be miserable on our cruise. I don't want to not have my picture taken of me, or video recorded of me just because of the way I look (we're brining a video camera this time too! yay!).

So yes. I can't do it alone, I need you girls. ALL of you. And you all have been SO supportive of me, I appreciate it SO much. Please, keep it up and remind me how bad I really do want this.

Thank you!

debbietexas 08-28-2005 10:30 PM

Let me tell you how bad you want it Nicki if you want it as bad as I do. You feel it in your gut you feel it in your soul you know you can do this.Every night I pray to God to forgive me for destroying this temple he created for me and to give me strength to to restore it to its natural embodiment he meant for it to be. We did not get this way in one day and it won't happen over night. Together we can do this. Use your soul to get what you want. I never want to look at my vacation pictures and see a fat cow sitting in a boat smiling as she floats down the river in a raft( that would be me if you haven't guess) Just hang in there gal. Know that we love you and together we all can do this.
I got the best deal today. I bought a pro form electric cross trainer treadmill today. It even has weight bench and weights all the bells and whistles( some I haven't figured out) Valued when bought 699.00 dollars has ten miles on it. Guess how much I paid. 75.00 dollars. Can you believe it. That is why I feel God is supporting me on this. I feel so good and things just keep falling into place for me to do it. One of my sons friends mom had it sitting in her bed room with clothes on and sold it to me just to get it out of room. Ain't it great. No more walking down the hot highway. Now if some of you professionals can help me I don't know how to figure how much fat I burned and how many calories. I don't know which is what. Oh well I know I am sweating lol.
I am so glad I found you guys. Such inspriration here.

Celeste0722 08-29-2005 08:30 AM

Can I just say I am SO frustrated beyond belief? NO weight loss AGAIN!! I've been stuck at 155 for several weeks now. What am I supposed to do? Run a freakin' marathon to lose weight? These last few lbs are SO stubborn!!!

fitnessweetie 08-29-2005 09:54 AM

Hey ladies!

Wow! I had a buzy weekend. I did not have a chance to check in, but I stay on course this weekend. I ate within my cals and portions.

Debbie: I know the smiles are fun to add! ;) Sounds like you are going to have a home gym soon! What fun and some great deals. I can tell you what kind of lifestyle change I am doing. I am eating between 1300-1700 cals a day. With protein about 35-40%, carbs 30-35%, and fats 25-30%. I am trying to eat under 100 gms of carbs a day. I keep track on fitday.com. I lift weights 3x a week for 45mins and do cardio about 4-5 days a week, and at least one day of yoga a week. I eat every 2-3 hours a day. There are many good web sites to figure about how many cals to eat and how much to lose. Like Mel point out that web site before and also 3fat chicks has some tools to help. But, everyone is different and will like to do differents things to help lose weight. I do have my cake and eat it too! :hb: Lets be real! As long as I do not go over too much! Hope that helps!

Nicki: You have done so well. I know that you can do this! :coach: So, get your rear into gear. What do you think will help you the most to stay on track? Do you keep track of your food intake? Just work on changing one thing at a time. What do you want to change this week? You have been so helpful to me on this weight loss journey. Without you, this thread would have never been here. You have help so many people, now it is time to help yourself! Some days I have to eat, breath, and think 24/7 about what I want! You can do this take it one day at a time....

Celeste: I know it can be so upsetting! What do you think is happening? :?:

My weigh in:

8-28-05 219.3

I think I lost a pound...Need to look back and see....

Hope that everyone is doing well!

Karen

Meldiggety 08-29-2005 10:59 AM

Dear Ladies,

Kinda down right now - I ate horribly on Saturday at a family reunion, got carried away with a bunch of high calorie appetizers and desserts. I knew I probably ate 2 X the calorie amount I should have, so I ate nothing else that day - just drank a ton of water. Then yesterday, I was doing ok until I went to a BBQ and someone handed me a piece of ice cream cake & of course instead of turning it down, I ate it - all 450 calories worth! Overall, I have been doing really well at making good choices whether at home or eating out - I don't know what happened this weekend, it's like I didn't have self control.......maybe it's because I am depressed that I have been working so hard at this and not losing? Anyway, I had to vent - but I am going to get back on track today. I can't let the guilt of what I ate destroy my motivation this week.....that's what I would have done in the past, but not anymore!!! I have come too far to let it all go down hill from here!! :dizzy:

Celeste - I hear ya loud and clear! You are doing everything you know how to do to get the weight off and your body is just being stubborn - how frusterating. Maybe you can share with us in detail what a normal day of eating, drinking water, exercising looks like and we can see if there is something that might help you get out of this plateau? Just an idea to get a fresh perspective.

Karen - So proud of you for sticking to it this weekend - great job! :cp: Hooray on losing a pound too - keep at it!!

Nicki - C'mon girlfriend - you can do it. Let's get serious about this, k? Your cruise is getting closer and closer and I know that you can do this! :D

Debbie - How wonderful that you got such a great deal on your treadmill! I like your attitude about working hard to keep the temple (our bodies) that God created healthy.....it's so true. We have to take care of what He has given us. ;)

Hugs :grouphug:
Mel

Sunfire 08-29-2005 02:44 PM

Debbie - It’s true, I really do feel it. BUT, the problem is… is that whenever I go to lose weight, I always feel like I’m going to do really good and actually do it this time! But I never seem to, so NOW I’m feeling like “Why will this time be any different?”. What a horrible attitude, huh? But I feel that if I keep checking in here, it will help me. I don’t want to look at my vacation pics and see an overweight girl, either.

Celeste – Ok, let’s go over EVERYTHING right now, ok? Tell us an average of how many cals you eat a day. Do you have a cheat day/meal once a week? What is your workout routine like? I want to know intensity, duration, frequency and type. You will get through this, and we are all going to help you! And I know you know this, but the closer you are to your goal weight, the harder it is to lose those pounds! Pretty crappy, huh?

Karen – Great job on staying within your cals! The weekends are hard for me! I hope you lost a pound let us know, ok? Anyways, I don’t know what will help me stay on track. Well. Food journaling helps! I write down everything. Maybe I should start checking in here at LEAST once a day, at the end of the day to let you girls know how I did? If I can do that from work around 9:30-10pm, that would be good. Because usually, my downfall is eating when I get home from work. I don’t know what it is! But I just want to eat, and I’m NOT hungry. Ugh. So very frustrating.

Melanie – Man, situations like that are so hard to control. But look on the bright side… after you ate that stuff, you didn’t eat anything else for the rest of the day (which I’m hoping it was at least in the evening to late afternoon?), and then the piece of cake… yeah it was 450 cals, but you can work that into your day. AND you said that overall you have been making good food choices! And that’s great! Stuff like this is just going to happen. No one is perfect! And you won’t be going to a family reunion ever weekend, so this was just something different, you know? So you’re not losing either? Have you tried to change up your workouts? Are you lifting weights? Are you eating enough cals? Let’s figure this out!

And you guys, I'm back up to 205 (from 203.5). I kinda don't understand, because I didn't really think I was doing THAT bad. So that's pretty crappy.

Celeste0722 08-29-2005 02:58 PM

Nicki, I really don't know how many calories since I go by points..I eat 22 points.

Morning:
Usually 1 c of 1% milk 2
3/4 c of WW's Honey Almond cereal 2

Afternoon:
2 tbsp of tuna salad (which was made of 4 tbsp of light miracle whip, 2 boiled eggs, 1/2 c of celery, and 2 boiled eggs)--2 pts
2 slices of whole wheat/whole grain bread: 1 pt
12 baked lays: 2
Tea with saccharine-0 pts

Snacks:
Some kind of fruit, oranges, grapes, or plums (1-.5 pts)
2% Cheese stick: 2pts
WW's ice cream cone: 2 pts

Dinner:
Dinners are usually chicken and something..Varies between 4-6 pts

Workouts are usually running an hour or so. Intensity: high
I usually work out 5 days a week. Last week though was 6 times a week trying to shake this plateau.

Any suggestions? Anything I should change?

haleys 08-29-2005 03:20 PM

I'm baaaaaccckkkkkk! Melanie, don't worry about some screw ups, I think we all need screw ups now and again to remember we're all human. I hope you enjoyed them, at least! Just get back on track and get back with the exercise and the eating healthy and I doubt you'll even gain anything!

I didn't eat very well the few days before I left for school, but now I'm at school and have re-committed. I went to the gym yesterday, an hour on the elliptical and machines for about 20 minutes and I'm going to go the gym after class, which ends at 4:45. I don't know what I'm going to do about the gym, so my classes end at 4:45 Mon-Thurs, so that'd be the perfect time to go. But there will be traffic there (it'll probably take me 15-20min to get there), busy at the gym and then more traffic on the way back. I'm contemplating just trying to go at a later time. Maybe, I can come back to the dorm, work on homework, then go around 7 or so. I hung out with some people I hadn't seen since I went home for the summer and they told me I definitely look like I've lost weight. It made me smile because I can't tell that I've been losing, but if other people can, that means a lot to me!

I need to buy a scale because I don't have one here and I'd like to keep track of my weight.

Celeste, I think everything you're doing looks pretty good. Just stick with it. If you haven't been doing strength training, perhaps you should incorporate that into your regimen? I remember Melanie saying something about how it may be a good idea to switch up your caloric (I guess point in your case) intake, perhaps you could look into doing that and see if it kick starts anything??

Good luck to you all! I will definitely be around more, so we can keep each other accountable and kick each others butts or just give a helping hand when its needed. I know I couldn't do this weight loss without all of you. Thank you!!

fitnessweetie 08-29-2005 03:23 PM

Celeste: Wow! That is alot of carbs...I would try the core plan on WW for one week and see if that works...Also, I would try weight lifting...The more muscle mass the better the metabolism, the more you can eat. I did WW and think that it is an excellent program...but, I did find that my weight was on hold when I was around your weight. Then my trainer at the time said to eat about 100 gm of carbs a day and more protein. I thought that she was nuts :dizzy: , but it did work for me. The core plan on WW is very much like that, but I would still count pts. with the core plan. This may shock your body..Hope that this works.... Sounds like you are getting lots of cardio in, and your body might feel it needs more carbs...I would cut back on it too...sounds scary...but it may work? I like to go to ladies that lift forum and read there post, I have found it helpful too me...

Mel: You are doing so great! It's a nice day to start again! New, month new goals. We can always have a new start anytime...I like that....But, please do not be hard on yourself...lets start over again....right Nicki! :smug:

fitnessweetie 08-29-2005 03:27 PM

Hi Haley....glad to hear from you....It's a nice day to start again....

Celeste0722 08-29-2005 03:29 PM

Karen, OK, I switched to Core..Hopefully this will help! Did your trainer tell you all carbs? Or just simple carbs? Looking at that, I do need to cut out sugar and eat more whole grains and stuff.

Sunfire 08-29-2005 03:32 PM

I KNEW that was gonna be it! Like the other ladies said, weight lifting can really help. It can change your whole body. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. I can't stress enough how important it is! I'm not quit there yet, but man, I would love to design a weight lifting routine for you! I'm like a chapter away. Boo. Try going here . Read that, and then click on "workouts".

Also, I have been reading in my text book, that when you work out, you should be able to hold a comfortable conversation with someone. If not, you should turn down the intensity. But I have to say... I do intervals, and when I'm jogging, I can't hold a comfortable conversation. I sometimes wonder if they are just talking about beginner exercisers. But they didn't say they were. So shoot. Maybe that wasn't helpful. I should go back and read that.

Haleyyyyyyy glad you're back! :D I LOVE when other people notice that you have lost weight! :D

Celeste0722 08-29-2005 03:39 PM

OK, I'm kinda confused on Core...

fitnessweetie 08-29-2005 03:48 PM

Celeste: Are you going to any WW meetings? I know on WW core you do not count points, but I think I would...I personally could not do core, I would do better with about 100gm of carbs a day, and it could be more carbs...listen to your body. My trainer said whole carbs, such as brown rice, whole wheat bread, but allow for a little treat at the end of the day...about 2 0r 3 points...
Also, EFA are important to...if you are eating too little EFA then your body will hang on to the fat... Celeste...does this help?

Celeste0722 08-29-2005 03:49 PM

Thanks Karen, that's making a lot of sense! What is EFA? AFter reading the Core user guide, I think I am understanding it now...

Celeste0722 08-29-2005 03:51 PM

I'm not going to meetings, I am doing the online one.

Thanks Nicki, I do need to do some weight lifting! Thanks for that link, I am totally new to the weight lifting thing...Not sure where I should start though!

Does anyone know if Curves does any strength training?

fitnessweetie 08-29-2005 03:54 PM

Celeste: There is a WW core forum on this site, maybe that may help I don't know....EFA are the good fats...they help you burn more fats.....such as flax seed oil and it is in salmon...I was eating fat free for a long time and cut my fats down to below 20% so my body thought it was straving, so it hung on to the fat...EFA are the good fats that help you burn more...Sounds crazy to eat fat....But, it worked for me.... :smug:

fitnessweetie 08-29-2005 03:57 PM

I never did curves...but I heard about it from a friend...It sounds like it would be great for a beginner....They work a circuit workout...for 30mins...

debbietexas 08-29-2005 04:08 PM

Thanks for info on the weight lifting. I am just now beginning that since the tread mill come with the bench and the weights. I am totally clueless. I read in my book that you should be able to just speak short sentence not carry conversation. Last night for sure all i could do is say I am k poppie aka hubby. He is afraid I am doing to much. I am down to 190 now. I want to change my ticker and make me a weekly one but I am not sure I know how to do all that. I can not wait till next summer. I am going to be so buff it will make all my skinny friends sick. I am doing this for me now. I totally recomend everyone to read stop the insanity and food by susan powter. She is great!!! Old books but fat still applies lol.

Meldiggety 08-30-2005 01:34 PM

Hey Ladies! Thanks for all your encouragement when I was feeling blue yesterday.....I am over it now, thank God! Perfection isn't what I am going for anyways, just to be a better version of me is what I am looking for. ;)

Karen - You are such an encourager - you are the sunshine on this board - thanks for being you! :cb:

Celeste - To add to what everyone said about eating enough protien, I also think maybe you should try to eat more - it doesn't sound like you are eating enough for how much you are running. I know Weight Watchers tells you to add points each day if you exercise. I know that my weight loss seems to stall if I am not eating enough, especially when I am doing lots of cardio. Also, instead of only running for cardio, you may want to do something else a few times a week because your body may be so efficient at running now that your in shape that you don't burn as many calories as before or work as many muscle groups. I just know that your body responds a lot better if you switch things up & never let it get use to what you are doing. Maybe you could incorporate a few exercise videos (step aerobics or Tae Bo, etc...). Oh yeah, I have done Curves before and it is mostly circuit resistance training - they have machines that strengthen muscles and work you aerobicly at the same time (you switch machines every 30 seconds). It's nice if you are short on time, but I find that it's mostly for beginner-intermediate exercisers, I think at this point you might not get a lot out of it because you are so active and in shape now. :strong:

Debbie - God job on your dedication and getting down to 190 - woo hoo! :bravo:

Haley - So good to hear from you girlie, I missed ya! I am so glad you are doing well and feeling good about what you accomplished over the summer - it's great your friends can see the results :D

Sarah - Hope all is ok, how ya doin'?

fitnessweetie 08-30-2005 04:41 PM

MOG!!!! I ate really badly today too....Is there something going around? My red light food now is kisses....no more!!!! I need to come to this web site more and focus more ....I have been away from the computer...I will get on track on wednesday....hope everyone is doing better than me today..... :o

debbietexas 08-30-2005 09:22 PM

loving it

Don't beat yourself up because you ate bad. Just remember how bad you want to be thin and ask self if the kisses are worth it. This board has been such great help to me. When feeling weak come here and type.
I am loving my weights and tread mill. I am not sure how to do the proper weights yet. :wl: Does anyone have any suggestions of books or dvds? I just have the light weights 6 lbs, Not ready for power lifting yet.

fitnessweetie 08-31-2005 08:44 AM

Thanks Debbie, I needed to hear that! I got on the scale and I weighed the same. I am eating to a T today! I over slept this morning for my weight lifting workout, but I plan to do a spin class tonight. Oh well. If I just lose a pound this week I will be very happy.

Debbie, I don't know of any books or DVD's for working with weight, but the body for life book does have some workout suggestion and rountines. Try looking at there web site. Body for Life. I am sure if I helped you....Hopefully someone else will have some input. :strong: Keep on doing it...I bet you will have a lost this week!

How is everyone doing today? :?:

Looking4TheWayOut 08-31-2005 11:28 AM

Hi Emma ;)

You are more than welcome here! We are a very connected group and most of us post everyday or every other day. Tell us a little bit about yourself! Debbie (very passionate & committed to being healthier)
Sarah (very down to earth, a mommy as well)
Me (I'm Melanie - after years of wanting to lose weight, but never doing it, I am finally doing it now! I'm a mommy too.)

There is a summary for ya :D
Nice to meet ya,
Melanie

fitnessweetie 08-31-2005 02:36 PM

Melanie you are such a great warm welcomer....hum? is welcomer a word?

Just wanted to say HI! :smug: Emma!

I am doing much better today on my eating, the kissess are all gone since Tuesday. I will be getting remeasured on Friday, to see what a difference 11 lbs makes, also starting the body for life contest on Sept 6th. Hope that everyone is doing well!!!!

suzefactor 08-31-2005 03:58 PM

Okay, I haven't died. Although...I'm surprised, with the way I ate on Monday. It was my birthday, so of course I went all out. Lunch was a 5-star restaurant with my dad and his wife - potato gruyere soup, black olive bread with olive oil & spices, roasted pork tenderloin in a sherry cream sauce with green beans and a mound of yukon taters. My snack when I got home was a couple of birthday chocolates my insurance agent sent to me. Dinner was with my mom at Red Robin, a THICK cup of clam chowder, and a fried chicken sandwich with full fat mayo and provolone. OHMYGOD it was heavenly.

I'm holding steady at 194. This is good news. Especially since I haven't exercised lately...gotta get back on that pony and RIDE!! I'm thinking of joining Weight Watchers, I'm going to ask my nutritionist how she feels about that. I have an appointment after work.

My mom and I went to Old Navy yesterday (she wanted to buy me a pair of corderoys). I picked up a pair of 18's, thinking MAYBE they might fit. They were loose. I tried on 16's. They fit, and weren't uncomfortable. At my highest weight, 20's were getting tight. WOOHOO!!

Emma - welcome!

Karen - Curves is great if you're totally out of shape. Even then, you need to mix it up with other workouts, or you're not going to burn very many calories as your body becomes accustomed to it. I go to Curves, but I also walk, and I TRY to do Billy Blanks Bootcamp.

Debbie - Congrats on 190!!

Celeste - How are you liking Weight Watchers? It's so bloody expensive but I really want to join. I went to a meeting to see if I wanted to join, and I loved it! I'm still sitting on the fence.

Hope everyone is doing well. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was in Katrina's wake.

Sarah

debbietexas 08-31-2005 05:16 PM

welcome emma

Welcome Emma :grouphug: You have found a wonderful home here. I hope to see you post often. Everyone here is such great inspiration.
:woo: Happy late birthday Sarah!!!! It sounds like you had a great one.
I just talked to one of my friends that started Susan Powter diet with me 3 weeks ago she is gone from 275 to 269 :cb: Way to go Katey.
I will check out the site that you told me about. btw I am under 190 now just making sure it holds before I change stats. I can't believe two summers ago I wore size 22 now wearing 14 and 16.
I am loving the treadmill. It seems that I can't wait to turn it on in the evenings.
Well I better get busy. I just wanted to pop in and say hey!!! Everyone keep up the good work.

fitnessweetie 08-31-2005 09:30 PM

Hi Sarah: Glad to hear from you. Celeste was asking about curves. I do weight lifting 3x a week with a trainer. Yes, I too think that curves is a great option for someone starting out. Happy belated birthday! :hb: Sounds like you had a wonderful cheat day! I would have done the same thing!

Okay Nicki! Where are you girl!!!! You know you want this....I want to hear from you everyday!!!!!!!! :smug:

debbietexas 08-31-2005 11:28 PM

I wish I could get a trainer. I am kind of flying solo on this but doing pretty good. I just had tread mill three days and can't keep it on fat burner stage but about 5 minutes. Some day I know I will be able to jog I hope. I found some muscles I forgot I had. One I never even knew I had. The one on the back of the thigh. Imagine that. Hubby is beginning to take notice of new mama now and that is pretty nice. I pray every nite I will be 135 by next summer. Tonight everyone please remember our gulf coast people. I couldn't even eat today thinking of all those children and families starving. We just don't know how very blessed we are till we lose. Karen is that a recent pic of you. You and Mel are just cute as speckled pups under a red wagon. ( Remember I am from Texas so excuse all my slang. )Keep up the good work everybody. I don't know how I would do it with out all of you.

Sunfire 09-01-2005 12:24 AM

Hi Karen! LOL Thanks for wondering about me! You're so sweet. It makes me feel so good when I see you or Melanie wondering where I'm at. A lot of times I pop in here and read what's up, but don't have enough time to post. I'll try and make more time. Well, my eating has been good so far today, and was good yesterday. I went to the gym today! So that's like 5 times in a week I have been! It's a new record I think! :p I have a new weight/cardio schedule, so I'm excited to start that. I start it tomorrow. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my days off from workign out, but I went to day since I didn't go Monday or Tuesday. So I'll just have an extra day of cardio in there, and I KNOW that can't hurt me. :p

Debbie I love you. I think you are the cutest thing! If you ever need help with anything, don't forget, I'm studying to become a personal trainer! I know I'm not one yet, but I have already learned so much. Feel free to ask me questions! I will answer them to the best of my ability.

Hey Emma, welcome to the group! Everyone here is really nice, so don't you feel lucky? :p

I'll catch up on everyone else later, I gotta study!

Meldiggety 09-01-2005 12:48 AM

Hiya Ladies :D

Had a great big cheat meal tonight and I don't feel bad about it because I know it was only one meal and I'll be right back on track tomorrow. It was hubby's b-day :hb: dinner at a really nice restaurant, so I had wine, an entree & cheesecake. I figure I am about 300 calories over my maintenance calories for the day, but I will work that off with some Tae Bo tomorrow ;)

Nicki - So great to hear from you, I've been missing you. I look forward to your posts everyday and when you aren't here, it never goes unnoticed. I am glad working out has been going so well for you - exercise is so important. Good job! :hat:

Debbie - I'd have to agree with Nicki, you are the cutest thing! I love your slang and your passion for becoming healthier is contagious! Thanks for the compliment on my picture too :D

Karen - Have you been affected by all the weather that Katrina brought on? I hope not! You live in Georgia, right? Great job on nixing the kisses - it's not worth it in the long run, unless of course, that's your cheat meal for the week!

Night Gals

Love to you all,
Melanie

Welcome Emma, good luck!

Not too much time to post, but I just wanted to say I did pretty good on my eating today except I had a crunch bar with caramel, it was good, but I felt guilty so I went to the gym. Did an hour on the elliptical and 20 minutes of weight and played basketball for about 10-15 minutes. I feel sore from Sunday still, so I'll be even more sore tomorrow. It's all worth it! I haven't bought a scale yet, so I don't know where I am right now, but when I get a scale, I'll update my weight on here.

I need to try really really really hard to not eat badly at night. i usually do fine during the day, but at night i get really hungry. i usually go to the coffee shop and get cheese quesadillas or FRIED cheese sticks, I need to stop this. Any suggestions??

I am going to get some yogurt tomorrow to fulfill my late night binges, but does anyone else have any ideas?

umm tomorrow remind me to NOT type while my sleeping pill has kicked in because i cant remember what i'm saying. ill remember tomorrow.

you all are amazing, phenomal, beautiful, strong, kind, sensitive and thoughtful!! in other words...you all are awesome. GOOD LUCK!! Make good decisions and do the exercise because when we get to where we wanna be we will be even more sexy than we already are. and i guess that's my ultimate goal to feel SEXY.

i may have to delete this post tomorrow cause i really cant re-read what i wrote to make anything make sense that doesnt..

GOODNIGHT ALL!!!!

Good Morning! Boy, I am hungry and we don't have any stuff to eat in the house. I guess, I will have to load up the kids and head for the store.

Debbie: I love your slang! That pic of me is before I had my two little pups...It was taken about 3 years ago. Glad to here that your thights and butt are burning, see you are doing such a wonderful job getting in shape. I wish I could just jump on a treadmill! How is everything doing in Texas, have you been affected?

Nicki: Wow! That sounds like a great plan. You have done better than me this week with the cardio! I always look forward to reading your post! I bet you will have a lost soon! What are you studying? Are you in school?

Melanie: Hey there gal! No, the storm did not affect us. But the gas prices are going up! I live in Atlanta. One station was changing the price within 15mins up to 25 cents. What a great cheat day you had. Say, Happy Birthday to your hubby! By the way, I got some tae bo tape from a friend and last nite, I did the 8 min workout, boy, I was like on fast forward. She gave me four of them, so I think I will try another one. The 8 min workout was very fast paced!

Haley: Hey there girlie! I know what you meant by trying to find something to eat at night. I like to have some rice cakes and sometimes with peanut butter. Or maybe a weight watchers fudge cake. Or little Debbie ginger breadman, Hum....I guess these are not that good for you...Boy, I am getting hungry.

Celeste: How are things going?

Sarah: Great on trying on the clothes...I cannot wait to be a size 16! Way to go!

Emma: How is it going? Tell us something about you?

See ya!
Karen

Well, thank you for the welcome. Let me see ... about me, I'm 34, have two pre-teen children. I've battled with my weight since I was 18. It wasn't a big deal then (only a few pounds), but starving myself to lose them and then becoming pregnant, made it a very big deal.

I have lost the weight 3 times. I have gained it back each and every time.

I started this time at 213.5. Now I'm down to 211.5 just because I was dehydrated and my body finally let go of some water.

I am not doing anything "fad" now. I am changing my habits slowly (I started with 3) and seeing where I end up. Slow and steady.

My hobbies are gardening, knitting, reading, movies, and running. I don't run well at this weight, but I want to be able to really do it once again. I miss it.

So, that's the basics of me. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Welcome Emma!! :wavey:

Hey ladies!

I think things are finally moving! I didn't switch to core, I am just eating more veggies and fruits, more whole grains, limiting simple carbohydrates.

Sarah, Happy Belated Bday!! I LOVE WW's! It really has helped my portion control, I am amazed at how many servings I was REALLY eating.

Debbie, I think you must've told me, but where in TX are you from again? I'm in the DFW area! :)

BTW, I SENT IN MY NURSING APP!! I'm officially a nursing student applicant! I won't find out anything until October!

Haley - So glad to see you posted........I know what you mean about the late night munchies. Sometimes at night I'll drink a hot beverage, like tea (I like chai and sweeten it with stevia) or hot cocoa w/ skim milk & it will give me my sweet tooth fix without making me feel guilty for eating too much bulk or calories at night time. Try it sometime? :^:

Karen - I know, isn't Tae Bo a true butt kicker?? I do his 40 -45 min videos and they kill me everytime! I feel so great afterwards though...it's definitley a love/hate thing for me  So glad to know you weren't affected by Katrina!!

Emma - Thanks for sharing about yourself. I look forward to getting to know you as well :)

Celeste - Yeh!! You are getting through that plateau - we knew you would :D Congrats on being an official nursing applicant, too. :cb:

Hello! How is everyone doing today? So, I got up at 10am this morning! That is early for me, lol. I usually get up at like 11:30am or so! This is because I don’t get home until midnight from work. But I have to wake up early so I can get all my gym time in w/out feeling rushed. I only did cardio yesterday and when I came home, I had to hurry and get ready for work and then hurry and make my dinner! So, hopefully this whole getting up early thing will pay off. :P

Melanie – Thanks for your kind words! I always look forward to your posts too. :P You’re so sweet! Such a great group of girls we have here! How are you doing today? How are you feeling? How is your little man? Dinner sounded good last night! Good for you for not feeling guilty!

Haley – I have the same problem you do! I did really well yesterday, and then came home and had Baked Dorrito’s! Thing is, is that I didn’t just have one serving. If I did, it would have been fine. But I probably had… 4 or 5. I don’t know WHY I do it. I mean, why ruin all that hard work? Ok, I think the yogurt idea is good. I have these natural orange popcicles w/ ice cream in the middle. They are SO good, and only 80 calories for one! So, my goal is to have one of those and NOTHING else. I could for sure work that 80 cals into my day, but nothing else. I think the yogurt idea is good. Maybe throw in some Kashi cereal?

Karen – Get some good stuff from the grocery store! :P And that’s ok, you can just get back on and start doing cardio anytime! Do it! Do it! And I always look forward to reading your posts too! Oh, I am studying to be a personal trainer! Ugh, it’s SO hard.

Emma – The best way to go, is to eat in moderation! Losing weight isn’t easy, but you can do it and we are all here to support you!

Celeste – Make sure you let us know ASAP about the nursing thing! How exciting! And good for you for cutting out the simple carbs! It’s not easy, but good job. :D

Ok, time for me to go workout! I'll check in with you guys later on today! :D

Celeste0722 09-01-2005 02:03 PM

Thanks guys! I can feel a difference. I feel more satisfied than I have before. I can do this!
