Just a quick note to say that I'm back on track today. What a difference a day makes! I was totally overwhelmed yesterday. I guess we all get those kind of days. I'm usually pretty outgoing and optimistic, but maybe I've been staying indoors too much or watching too much news on TV. :lol:
Thank you Kandice, Diana, and Selina for your kind words and cheers. I really love our group! I was inpired by Oprah yesterday on TV. She looks great, so I looked up here web site to see what plan she is on. It's kind of a low carb thing. 3 lean meats per day, no white carbs (bread, pasta, cookies), lots of greens and 2 fruits a day. I think I'll try that. Plus the other part is exercise... 30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes weights 6 x a week. I've been doing that about 5x, so I'm almost there. It's the food part that gets to me! I did get measured today because Chris is getting his car fixed tomorrow which leaves me without a car to go to curves tomorrow and Monday weigh ins are scary... I weighed 178.75 down 5.25 lbs and down 2.5 inches (.25 on my bust, .75 on my waist, .5 on my abs, .5 on my hips, and .5 on my thighs) every 1/4 of an inch is a step right? my body fat was back down to 30% too after it went up last month. ( In nov it was 29.9, december 30.4 and january 30.0) Unbelievable= 46.5 inches since beginning, 25.5 lbs, and 16.63 lbs of body fat. Pretty happy with myself. They asked me if I was at goal yet, and I said no- 23 more lbs to go... they looked up in my folder and said I was far past my inches goal... when I signed up for curves they did my measurements and to get into a size 11/12 I had to lose 20 something inches... (those 20 inches haven't been where I need them :lol: ) so I got my name on the wall as an amazing loser. Yay me!! |

i'm up for the challange. i lost 2 lbs this week of the 10 i want to lose for valentines day. i am ready to rock and roll. this is the year i get health. personaly, emotionaly, and spiritualy. i think the whole body is important. so am looking forward to great things. hope you have been kind to yourselves this week. if you gained last week. that is last week and you WILL get back on track this week. you GET to start a whole new plan this week. it would be fun to here what some of you are doing. is it a diet, if so what one? excersice, waht kind? water intake or something else remember we only pass this way once. so let give it our bst shot. Question: How do you all count your inches? I only count one bicep, one thigh, one calf, my hips, waist and chest measurement. Should I add in the other bicep, thigh and calf?? This is for when I want a total of inches lost. Ok, doing well with my food.. but staying on the high end closer to 1500 a day..with about 20 grms of fat. Still jogging 30 mins a day.. plus my other daily toning stuff, leg lifts, etc. Not meeting water goals every day. Just not thirsty.. it's cold outside! Uggh!! Anyone else have this problem? I went online today. www.fastfoodfacts.com and it helped me. I wrote down the grilled chicken sandwiches, soups, veggies, subs, and desserts I might eat out and are ok with my plan, not too high in fat. That way I can add them in and not guess at how bad they are! Cuz sometimes, you needa eat out. I try to bring food with me every time I go for a long day of errands, etc. but if I really want hot food, I need to know my facts so I can choose wisely, you know? selina- curves doubles the arms and thighs and then bust, waist, abs, hips = total inches. I wish they would do the calves because I know my calves have gotten nicer- and I didn't even have a problem with them before!

Hey ladies! How goes it? I am doing well today. I have exercised the last few days and stayed within my calorie limit (1500 is my goal, although I have been closer to 1300 lately).
Mary- Hi and welcome. I am new, too. I am calorie counting. I do it all on fitday.com. I love them! I aim for 1500 a day (that is what the calculators say I should eat to lose 2 pounds a week). I also aim to exercise at least 4 times a week. When I start to plateau I will up the exercise. So far it's gone great. I haven't felt deprived at all. I've lost 7 pounds in the first two weeks. I also watch my fat intake...which brings me to Selina... Selina-everything I have read says that you shouldn't go under 20% fat content, even when dieting. Normally you should aim for 30%. Isn't that right?I try to keep between 20-25% fat. However that is more like 40 grams of fat a day. You are only around 12% at 20 grams. I admit that I struggle sometimes getting up to 20%. When you eat food low in calories, they often don't have much fat.According to some different medical sites, you are unlikely to feel satiated when you eat lower than 30% and you are much more likely to binge. Anyway, what you're doing seems to be working so I guess you're fine. Just wanted to make sure that you knew. Kandice-I'm jealous of all those inches! Way to go girl! I can tell that I am losing inches (especially around the middle, where most of my weight is). I don't know what I was when I started, or even what I am now. I need to measure! Also, thanks for the tips! Dena-I've been inspired by Oprah, too. Doesn't she look fantastic?!? I still could never do low carb, though. I dislike meat too much, lol! May the force be with you. I have a new low (saturday and sunday) of 172! yay! back to 173 today though... so probably 178 still at curves, I'll know at lunch time though. Still the 172 is real good news, trend has it that I'll bounce along between 172- 175 now and then lose a couple more lbs. Sorry I haven't been around in awhile, I have been working some very starnge hours at work extra ones and I have been on the computer typing tons of stuff at work so I just haven't been able to come home and get on here, but the crazy hours are over so here I am. I actually think I worked too many extra hours and I ended up being sick on my weekend off and because I work in a Nursing home I had to take today off as well, I feel better but we have to be 48hrs symptom free from a gastrobug before we can go back so I'm taking my time off now to be here. I'm down about another 3 lbs this week so that makes me feel better. I tried to make sure that even with all the extra work time I put in that I still made time for my exercise. I didn't get to the gym as much I think just 2x but I made sure I was doing my walking tape for 30 mins most days. I think I did it 5 out of seven days. I am not up to it today but hopefully I will be back at it tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good day. |

I’m just about caught up with work and ready to join in the discussion again. I didn’t check in at all last week, and it took me while to read all the messages. Wow, what a great group! I didn’t report in last Monday, so my combined weight loss for last week and this week is 4.5 pounds. Two pounds a week is what I’ve been aiming for, so I’m right on target. There was one week in early January that I didn’t lose anything and stayed the same (the week of the big storm), but other than that, I’m doing well. Reading so many posts all at once, instead of one at a time, the thing that jumps out at me is how we all have our highs and lows, good days and bad days, triumphs and discouragements, and through it all the other members of the Valentinies are there to listen and offer encouragement. I guess that’s why it’s called a Support Group. :balloons: Have a good week everyone, Florafae P.S: Dena, I really like the logo by your name. I think it’s a good fit. |

Just checking in. Busy week last week so no time to talk. I am doing well with my exercise and water goals. I stepped on the scales this morning and was down another pound! Woo-hoo! That's four pounds gone. 3.5 for Vday goal. I have set the goal of being under 200 by my bday in May and, by golly, I'm just stubborn enough to do it! :D
Congrats to all the other "losers"! Keep up the good work. Welcome to our newbies as well. Keep up the good work, ladies. We can do it. Thanks for all the posts. It's very encouraging just to know we are not in this thing by ourselves! Have a great day. Be kind to yourself. |

Well, I took a deep breath today and registered to be in Houston's 96.5 radio Biggest Loser challenge. Wish me luck that I get chosen! (Although, we do have four million people here and only eight get to do it.) :?: So we'll see. We'll have to be at Bally's at 7pm to work out with our teams. Two teams of four. No one gets kicked off. We all stay til the end. Winner gets a trip to Florida all paid. Second gets a year at Bally's. I think I would be fine with that one. Dunno about a trip. But I want the membership..lol. I have done ok this week. I'm sick with a cold and three of my five kids have been sick for days, fever, coughing, sneezing, vomiting (one). Uggh! So needless to say, I barely hit 5,000 steps today (but managed 10K on the other days). I'm out of it. I hate being sick. :( Hello Dollar! Nice to meet you. Congrats on your loss! Flora- Congrats on staying right on track! 4.5 lbs in 2 weeks! :cheer: Skinny- every lb is a lb closer to Onederland! you'll get there! Dena- congrats on the 11 minutes! you must be so happy (motivated!) with your improvement! Selina- good luck on the biggest loser! I played survivor in college one weekend and I loved it- I was the last 3 too! :D not the same I know, but the small spinoffs can be so fun! When do you find out? And the scale- I do hate to see it bounce along, but it's been long enough now that I "know" my bounces- it's usually within 3-4 lbs of each other and then I'll drop. Like this weekend- 172, now I'll go between 172 and 175 for a week or so- never up to 177 or more again. and if I do get up there then I know I have to adjust my eating habits. I'd rather face up to it day by day then wait a week and then be shocked at the end of the week and be stressed- "wow- I gained 5 lbs this week!" I think it gives me more of a true number, just in case if I happen to weigh on a fat day. Have a great day everyone! Just wanted to say hi from sunny Las Vegas (around 60 degrees today). I've been going for my morning walks again now that the weather is better. And yesterday I did "12" minutes on the elliptical with my usual treadmill/weight machine workout. Maybe today I'll try for 13! Still doing good on my eating plan and water. Glad to hear we are all doing real well. Keep up the great work, everyone! Kandice, congrats on your new low! :) Selina, I hope you get well soon. so I changed my ticker (finally!) Today was my third day at 172 and I weighed at curves and I was 176.5 and I'm not going back up, the ticker will hold me accountable- as you ladies do too!
1.5 more lbs to the valentines (and my wedding day) goal! I would love to get there next week! and next monday I'm going to get my wedding dress altered again because Carrie at Curves told me I had lost 16 lbs since my alteration! :eek: but YAY! I want the dress to look like it was made for ME and fit ME perfect! |

You know I just had to say that no matter how skinny I get I am never going to look like that lady on the side panel in the jeans, lol. When I was in high school and my very fittest (I played basketball and was naturally small) I never looked like that! I only weighed 105 pounds! My thighs always touched though. See how her's don't even touch all the way up? I will never have a body like that and it's okay! That is the problem with this world. Everyone is trying to attain a body like that and if you are not genetically formed that way it's nearly impossible to get a body like that! Okay, sorry, time to get off my high horse, lol!!! I am doing okay today. I feel down for some reason. Sometimes it feels like my progress is so small and that I have such a LONG way to go. It can get depressing. it's a fabulous friday. it's been another week of no contact. i don't know if am even contacting people or if my messages are going to "lost in space." this is all so new. i have never been on a site like this. i don't know what i'm doing. i hope you are all doing well. isn't life great. i just keep plunking away at the keyboard hoping someone is out there. i love it. we are in this together. on step at a time. with a little help from those who are in the same position. i care about you because your are worth caring about. just because i can't see you doesn't mean you have been forgotten. or who have been there. loving life is a great challange when som many things go one nationally and at the locat level. the news can make things look pretty bleck. |

yup- the grooms "cake" is KKs. We're big simpsons fans so we got homer and marge made for a grooms cake topper (with our colors- Marge is carrying a purple and white bouquet) and we're going to make a pyramid of KKs... mmmmm. My fam has never had KKs- it's all DD up there- so they'll be in for a treat!

Seems like its hard to not eat what every other person around you is eating, drinking more water than they are, exercising more than them, and they are small. I've never been small in my whole life. I gained too much weight the year I turned five and i've yo-yo'd ever since. Big from then on tho. I feel younger now than when I was in high school. I can never say I want to be like I was in school because I'm smaller now! LOL. My thighs have always touched too.. I'm almost there tho, where they won't. I can't wait. At least you were sorta small before and you know how it feels, I don't. So I'm entering a whole new arena. I've never, I mean never, since I've been about 11 bought anything that wasn't XL or bigger. So never since I've been grown. Just getting into a large will be great. Either way, you and I are on a journey. And we need to keep our chins up and our eyes forward and our thoughts positive. We CAN do this! :cheer: Dena, you are doing just great on that elliptical. You've gone up so much on minutes! Kandice, I'm soooo excited for you! It's gonna be a great wedding! Homer and Marge are really really cute too! Smart idea! Hey, when is the wedding again? I have been sick lately still, can't seem to get over it. My son is sick too, on meds now.. took him to the doc, he has an ear infection too. But even tho I'm sick and taking care of sick ppl too, I'm staying a little above 10,000 steps a day. If any of you count steps too, go to www.americaonthemove.org and sign up. It's neat. After 3 days of logging steps, it sets you a daily goal. Also, you get to choose a virtual trail to walk. Mine is the Lewis and Clark trail. It's fun. I'm with the group walking.about.com. At about.com. Anyway, it makes me even more determined bc I want to surpass my goal every day. So far I have for every day this month. I have gone over my cals a little on 3 different days, but not too bad. I also measured myself and I'm only 1/2 in. away from my valentine's goal. I hit my waist and hip 1 inch off! Yay! But my chest is still .5 away from it... only lost .5 there. One more week! Well, have a great week everyone! Oh and does anyone else find it hard to drink enough water even when that's all you drink? I'm just not thirsty. I'll come back when I have more time! This week has been so busy. Uggh!! :wave: |
selina- wedding = march 5th- 26 more days! so excited- going to make up programs tonight probably. after work I got get fitted again... and I think I'm going to need it taken in again because... drum roll please...
I WEAR SIZE 12 NOW!! Chris and I went shopping friday night for honeymoon clothes and I found a couple skorts that I liked- thought they'd be "dressy" enough if we went anywhere during the day (we're going to the bahamas with carnival cruise lines) so anyways, I picked up a size 14 and I said I was going to try on a size 12 too just to see. made chris wait outside the dressing room. I came out and asked him what he thought- he said "they look real good, are those the 14s?" :lol: NO! they're 12! he was shocked! Chris picked up a couple pair of shorts for him and a couple bathing suits. oh and I almost forgot- when we got home- I was curious as to whether my shorts from last year would fit... looked at the size- 18! I tried them on and could easily pull a couple inches from them. I made Chris take a picture with me holding them out. So when I get the film developed I'll surely post it. Man it feels so good. When I started Curves I told them my goal was to wear a size 10 or 155 lbs whichever came first... I'm pretty close to GOAL! :cheer: hope everyone else is doing great! (and the eagles put up a good fight for my pats- a lot closer than I expected! we had a pool going at work and I had a 20 point spread (34-14 Pats)- so obviously I lost, oh well) |

Bonnie- Curves has a "electric" body fat % "reader". I know those aren't the correct terms- but hopefully you know what I'm saying. They punch in your weight/ height/ age and then you hold onto the reader- it's metal- a lot like a pulse machine and after a few seconds it comes out and tells you what your bf% is and what your BMI is too.

Hi everyone! Hugs to you all. It's Monday, and official weigh in day for me. Now, for MY drumroll...
HOORAY, I hit my Valentines Day goal!!!! I am down 10 pounds! I am so happy. DH is going to take me out dancing on Friday to celebrate (that was my planned reward if I made my goal. I am so happy! Yesterday I spent like 20 minutes trying on clothes (at home :dizzy: ). I have lots of smaller clothes. I was so happy to find that I fit in TONS of stuff that I didn't just a month ago! Losing weight makes you feel so great!!! Kandice-CONGRATS on the size 12!!! I can't wait until I am comfortably in size 12!!!!! I am currently more in size 14, but some 12's (those made from stretch material :lol: do fit). Doesn't it feel great to be SMALLER??? Soon2Be-I have trouble hitting my water goal, too. I love water, especially cold from the fridge, but I just seem to forget sometimes. I am going to work on that this week. Tobaccy-It is great to have you back! Hope you had a FABULOUS time! Kandice, I can’t believe it is so close to the wedding. How do you concentrate at work? I am so proud of you for reaching a size 12! That is so cool. :dancer: Bonnie, glad to hear you had a good vacation and that your back is no longer hurting. Selina, thanks for the tip on the “steps” website. You’ve convinced me to buy a pedometer. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Amy, I too have a long way to go and have days when I feel so discouraged. It seems as if it will take forever to reach a healthy weight. I just try to remind myself to stay focused on my short-term goal and not look too far ahead. As for my weekly weigh-in, the scale showed I was only down one-half pound. I did well all week, but yesterday I succumbed to the Super Bowl chips and dip. :shrug: I didn’t eat all that much of it, but it definitely put me over my calorie limit for the day, and the salt probably contributed to water retention. Oh well, at least the scales were tipped in the right direction and I didn’t gain weight. I can’t believe there is only one more week on our challenge. It sure went by quickly. today was weigh in. i have lost another pound this week. i'm headed in the right direction even thought it's going slow. i was discouraged after last weeks drs. appt. this is a new week and i get to start over. i hope you are ALL doing well. staying on track, water intake. taking care of yourselves well. the weather here is cold. it froze last night. my dog didn't even want to go out this morning. it's sunny but in the low 40s. flora- I can't focus- I made up my programs yesterday during some down time at work and planning on finishing them today- I would love to be able to take them to the printer this afternoon and get that checked off. but that's to be expected right? :lol: getting paid to plan my wedding... :lol: Superbowl sunday did it for me- too embarrassed to say I went up 4 lbs yesterday, but dropped 2 as of this morning, so hopefully a couple more tomorrow and I'll be back to my 176 again. got my dress realtered last night. Lady was kinda mad at me for losing more weight and making her fix the dress again, but oh well. It'll be ready feb 25th. She was mad that it's so close- it's not my fault- I called you last week and asked if I could come in. You could've squeezed me in then. oh well! she said this time she's going to take in the zipper. Last time she took in the sides and said that I'd lose a lot of the beads if she took in the sides again... so she's going to take in the back this time. The dress was a size 16- so making it a size 12 (or less because I'm smaller on top where it's fitted) of course it's a pain. She had an attitude about my slip too (crinoline?) . I bought a size 16 slip and I asked her if I could just trade- for a smaller one- it's only been worn twice for the fittings, she was going to charge me again!! said keep the old one then and deal! I'm not paying for another slip when there's nothing wrong with this one, besides it's too big (it makes little creases under the dress around my waist)! but she gave in and gave me smaller one before I left. I AM a princess and I want to feel like a princess and like the dress was made for me on the wedding day- not like I'm playing dress up in Mom's clothes that are too big. that dress, when I'm done with it, will be a mold of my body! |

Hi all, sorry I've been away for, like, 2 weeks. My life has been crazy busy, Had tons of visitors for a while and we're building a new house, so that means lots of appointments, and I'm starting 2 new jobs (both casual) but still, there are so many things they need from me even before I start, and with a little guy, leaving hte house is always a chore.
Well, I'm only down four for V-Day, I guess I still have a week, but I know I won't hit my 10 pound mark. Hey, at least I'm down. Congrats to all the new smaller sizes, that is the true measure of improvement on the body!!! :cb: :cb: It's really exciting! I like the Simpsons cake topper. Very cute. |
bonnie- of course "fresh" kks! Chris and the boys are going to Winston on thursday night to get their tuxes, so they'll get them then. Friday is just too busy- Chris is going to work until 2 pm, I'm getting a mani with the girls and then going to workout with them and then going for a good lunch. and then the rehearsal at 6- it's in dobson- so about 45 mins away... not a lot of time to go to W-S- about 35-40 minutes from us. 1 day old KKs are still yummy though!
I'm back down to 176- after the terrible weekend. so just 1 more lb to go to get to the v-day (wedding day) goal. so close! mad at the future in-laws this morning.. so Chris' brother owns his own flower shop and I thought that they were going to give us the flowers for our wedding present- that's been said somewhere- his mom or something, we just didn't get it from ourselves. anyways, got an email from david, Chris' brother, and we owe $300 something now. Ugh! I thought we had taken care of most the wedding bills and now this! and his own brother! it probably cost them less- maybe 1/2- the Sister in law owns her own salon too- and they're pretty well off. just makes me mad. oh well I guess. |
