Hello, Ladies. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Work has been crazy, no time to post! I am heading over to the gym after work to sign up for a membership. I have been trying to walk after work, but it is impossible to fight with the daylight, I never win. So, I am just going to suck it up and join the gym. That way, I can go before and after work, with no excuses!

Kandice-I am also upset that Moe left, he really did need that treadmill, but I am sure he will get some sort of endorsement deal from the show. I am so inspired by all of them, although they did have a lot of help and a completely controlled environment. I wish I could go away for 6 months and get skinny, but I just have to accept that this is a slow process. I am just too impatient! I love your pic-you and your friends look like you were having a great time, there is nothing better than good friends. I am sure they are so proud of your weight loss! You will make a beautiful bride.

skinny butt- I have been doing pretty good with my points, I know that WW is the best diet for me, it has already worked once, but I gained it back- sigh! We will do this the right way this time and keep it off!!!

K, girlies gotta run to the gym to let this sales guy talk me into a membership! I know that I need to do it, so I will! Welcome to any new people, I know that this group will help us all to reach our goals. Everyone have a great nite. Stay healthy! XOXO~Nicole

Hi ladies
I have had a good day today stayed OP agian. The water issue tea is ok as long as it is decaf for every glass of non decaf tea or coffee you need to have I glass of water. Pretty much all I drink is water or green tea. So much so I had to increase my water because my body got use to the amount I was drinking so I now drink anywhere from 10-16 glass a day but I sure know when I haven't met my range in water my body lets me know. I didn't get to the gym today due to our lovely winter storm but I should make it there tomorrow night. Have a good evening everyone.

Oh,sweetpea 01-06-2005 09:56 PM

Hi Ladies~

I had a good day, too. Folks here in southern Ohio are looking over Arc plans as we are having major flooding! So, I had to stay indoors and walk the treadmill today again, but watched the first half of NOTORIOUS with Cary Grant (yes, library movies - old movies, but I love to look at the clothes and sets!)

As for the water/tea question...my daily FLUID goal is 1 gallon (or 4 quarts or 16 cups or 128 oz). I make sure that no less than HALF is of water (64oz or better). The rest I make up in 1 quart of green tea and 1 quart of other flavored teas or flavored water (no sugar). I am cutting out caffiene and carbonated beverages...more as an experiment. I haven't had too much trouble getting in my fluids as I have a rule that if I get the hungries or think about food, I grab a fluid and nurse that until the feeling goes away. The hard part is when I am running errands....I am learning where all the CLEAN public restrooms are in my town!!! lol

SInce I stayed OP today, I am giving myself a mini reward. I am going to bed EARLY (10pm is early for me) and starting a new book.

High Fives to Everyone!!

KandiceS 01-07-2005 09:16 AM

Good morning!

Cole- did you sign up at the gym?

Sweetpea- that sounds like a good reward! Mine is a bubble bath and a book. The boys are good about it too they know when I’m in the bath- that’s my time. Chris takes care of everything.

May have to “down” by V-Day goal. I weighed last night at Curves and I was down to 179. I knew I weighed less. I brought Carrie over- a trainer the same age as me and she’s getting married in the same chapel we are later on this summer. She’s great.
So anyways, if this stays off this weekend then I’ll have 5 weeks to lose 4 lbs. I think what happened is I jump started my metabolism again. Last week I ate and ate and ate and then this week I’m doing Phase 1 of the diet. When I first started the diet I think I lost 5 lbs that first week too. They said that would happen, when you’re at your peak, you can eat all month and only diet strict for 2-3 days out of the month to maintain.

Flora- I think you and me talked about my stepmom on the Christmas post. She was good at Christmas. I got all Large shirts except for a PJ set- XL and she said she bought that before I told her the smaller size. They had French toast one morning and she made me eggs- without being asked- and she stressed while we were growing up that she wasn’t a short order cook- you ate what she made. When we got “home” and hugged hello- she said “you really are getting smaller!” the rest of the visit was good too with her. She even got me my dannon carb control yogurt that I have every day.

Wondering if this happens to anyone else- people that “don’t believe” in them. That you can keep off the weight and everything. I hate getting comments like “are you doing this just for the wedding?” Are you going to keep it off? Things like that… YES! I needed to lose weight for a long time but obviously the wedding is a huge motivator- what bride doesn’t want to look beautiful on her wedding day?! But yes yes yes- this weight is staying off- never to gain it back again. That and I’ve spent too much on smaller clothes already not to wear them for longer than I have

Have a great day everyone!

KandiceS 01-07-2005 09:18 AM

oh and if I updated my ticker- I will on Jan 27th- official weigh in day- I would be 1/2 way to goal! YAY! :cheer: 25 lbs lost- 24 more to go!

Oh,sweetpea 01-07-2005 10:27 AM

Yea Kandice!

Yes, I understand about the struggle with relatives/friends being understanding. As far as explanations....I think you explained it very well in your message! Sound like all good reasons to me! Mostly I get "growls" from people who need to lose weight, but haven't the muster to do it. It's like I am making then feel weak about their problem when I am strong and doing something about mine. As we all know...we can't make someone face up to their problem, whatever the addiction may be (ours just happens to be food!). They have to find it in themselves on their own to make a lifelong change, THEN we can influence them by being supportive, etc. We ALL here had to dig deep within ourself and do that. My sister, for the first time in her life, weighs more than me. I know it bothers her to be around me when I am in "diet mode" because she hasn't found it in herself to do anything about her problem. I can't get her to that point either. BUT I can't feel guilty for her either. I have to take care of me. If what I am doing, being strong and taking care of my health, inspires her, then that is all I can hope for and I have to just focus on myself. Whew, glad I got that off my chest!

Have a great day, everyone.
Sweetpea :^:

Oh,sweetpea 01-07-2005 10:37 AM

I was wondering...

Dena, Could you tell us more about the body flex video. Although I am walking and strength training, my main focus on the physical part of my plan is to increase my flexibilty and balance. At 43, I see those things really becoming a problem. Activities that require a lot of balance, such as skating, skiiing, kayaking....all of which I used to be pretty good at... I have noticed I am having trouble with them. Plus, my posture is getting bad, especially when I am tired, and my flexibilty has diminished. Pilates seems to focus on strengthening the innor core by contracting muscles. I guess I am looking for something to stretch them. Any hints from the rest of the gang??

Thanks!
Sweetpea :^:

KandiceS 01-07-2005 10:42 AM

sweetpea- it was in the christmas challenge that I was talking about my stepmom- she tried everything and always loses and then gain all + back. She hadn't been supportive and was comparing my success to her history. Dreaded seeing her at Christmas and her making a comment or not accepting my loss (buying me "fat clothes" still). You said it exactly right! I wish my stepmom would see what I'm doing and inspire her- I've even brought "home" a guestpass from Curves and asked her to go, but she was "too busy". 30 minutes out of your life a day (2% of your day!)- you at least owe it to yourself. But I can't make her see it- she's gotta want it.

KandiceS 01-07-2005 11:29 AM

sweetpea- are you near lima, oh? they had a picture on the front page of our paper today about the ice storm. all the trees hanging down with ice. I was in Maine in 1998 during our ice storm up there. 11 days without power and the HS turned into the the Red Cross shelter- showering with strangers, was not fun.

Florafae 01-07-2005 02:55 PM

Good afternoon to all of you.

Dollar and Sweetpea, thanks for the feedback on the water/tea issue. I appreciate it.

Kandice, I’m glad things went relatively (pun intended) well with your stepmother during your visit. I’ve been wondering how things turned out and was hoping you’d mention it. I think it says a lot that she fixed you eggs without asking. If she were in full sabotage mode, she would have made a big deal about it.

Regarding relatives and friends and negative vibes about our weight loss, there was an interesting article on weight loss in Parade Magazine last Sunday. Did anyone else read it? The gist of it was that losing weight has as much to do with the brain, as it does with the stomach. It talked a lot about the importance of positive affirmations and positive images in attaining and maintaining weight loss. For example, visualizing one’s self as a thin person and saying things like, “I am in control of my eating” can improve the outcome of a weight loss program.

I’m giving it a try. I’ve created an image in my mind of how I will look in a pair of jeans when I’ve reached my goal weight. I’ve also started saying little positive mantras throughout the day. I figure it can’t hurt, and it just might help. ;)

Thinking good thoughts,
Florafae

Den@ 01-07-2005 05:06 PM

Wow, is this place jumping. I love it! Everyone is so motivated. Cheers for us!!

Yesterday I walked for an hour and did my Body Flex tape. I drank my 10 glasses of water and ate right, too. I'm so happy I'm doing the right things.

Sweet Pea, you asked about my Body Flex tape. It's a combination of breathing while tightening your muscles. It's great for the circulation, breathing, strenthening muscles, flexibility and stamina. I know it works because I did it religiously for a year, and I lost many inches. And it only takes 15-20 minutes. But somehow life got in the way, and I stopped, and I when I started up again a few days ago, I was surprised to see how pathetic I am these days. My flexibility and stamina really need help. What an eye opener! By the way, SP, I like looking at old movies, too. I love looking at the costumes and decor. Of couse, I just love movies in general. And before I finally got cable, I went to the library for my videos, too. :D

Kandice, I'm glad your step-mother is trying. I can relate to your situation. My mother tries to sabbatage my success with lots of temptations and then watches every thing I do. She doesn't try to make things easier, always harder, and somehow gets satisfaction when I fail. No compliments when I look good, but lots of comments when I gain. (She has lost weight with my help, so you'd think she'd be understanding, but my hubby thinks she doesn't want me to succeed.) Just thinking about the situation is very irritating. I can't seem to win either way. I just hsve to believe I can do this! With God's help and the support of our little group, I will reach my goal!

Flora, I like the idea of visualization. I definitely know that I dress and act differently when I'm looking good. I'm a lot more outgoing and fun, too.

dollar, you're doing a great job. Keep up the great work! It's snowing here fabulous in Las Vegas, too. What a crazy winter. It hardly ever snows here.

Cole, I think it's great that you are joining a gym. I know I do better at a gym. It's good to have a regular schedule and routine. And you get tons of motivation from watching all the other people work out.

Like I said, it's snowing here today, so I'm freezing. Not used to this cold weather. Can't wait for Spring. Hope to be looking great in my new shorts!

Have a great day, everyone!
Hugs,
Dena

Den@ 01-09-2005 12:50 AM

Bonnie,
Great to see you back! :) I'm glad your trip went well. Sounds like you had a great time, and that what life is all about. Sorry about your sister's pain. But congrats to you for your wonderful Christmas present!
Hugs,
Dena

Oh,sweetpea 01-09-2005 11:17 PM

night-night

Hi Gang
Just time for a "quicky". ;) I've had a good weekend. Still struggling to get my butt moving in the morning and motivated to work out. I seem to be really run down until late morning....ach-y even. By that time, my exercise "window" has passed and I am full-swing into my day. I'm thinking I may still be adjusting to the change in diet and my body is reacting (or retaliating!) Late this afternoon, I went for an hour walk and was happy to go and it felt very good. Sooooo, my goal this week is to really work on getting my workout done early.

**Dena...thanks for the info in the stretching tape...I will definitely check it out. I think something like that would help "loosen" me up in the morning so I can move on into a work out.

**Bonnie...yes, my mother had knee replacement two years ago and it was over a year before she was "painfree", although she still complains sometimes that it "bothers" her. She is 72. Still, it is not as bothersome as the pain she had BEFORE the replacement. And I do know several of her friends who have an knees, hips, shoulders replaced and have no complaints.

**Flora...what a good idea..."mind over matter", so to speak. Can you share with us some of your mantras??

**Kandice....no, I am south of Columbus. But we now are having terrible flooding....in JANUARY!!!! School busses can't run and roads...heck, major highways, are closed everywhere. I think EVERY place in the USA is experiencing UNUSUAL January weather.

** Dollar?? Cole??? You still there?

DewCan 01-09-2005 11:45 PM

Hi all, hmmmm...flooding, doesn't sound like fun. Seen it, but never experienced it. But we do have a ton of snow, which is great, it feels like winter. But it's also bitterly cold which sucks (-30's, celcius). I guess I could say that it makes it feel like winter as well.
Okay, a gallon of fluid a day WOW. A few questions about that, are you on the can all day, how about at night. Do you make sure you drink all your fluids before a certain time so that you're not peeing all night? How about weigh day. How do you make sure that your'e not up 2 pounds because you jsut drank a liter of milk? :?: Just wondering. I think (or rather, know) that I often eat when I'm actually thirsty, maybe I should try what you do.
Okay Kandice, in that picture, you were in the white sweater? Okay the girl in the pic looks fantastic and doesn't need to lose any weight??? I'm a little confused:?:
Tomorrow is my weigh day, I exercised well and ate like a pig. :o I think it will show up. I've kept up with my exercise though, and I feel good about that.
Well, goodnight all

DewCan 01-10-2005 02:17 AM

okay, just finished biking. That's 9 days in a row of 1 hour of biking each day. And my situps, still doing well with those. Today was the first day since my New YEar's resolutions that I actually ate well :spin: starting is the hardest part, and now I've started. My fourth resolution was to drink more and really ahve to work harder on that.
well, it's after midnight and I'm tired, goodnight
diana

KandiceS 01-10-2005 09:02 AM

Dew Can- Congrats on the biking! That's something I wish I could/ would do. I know alot of people set it for a goal when they lose weight to run the marathon or bike or something but I would too. I don't remember the last time I biked though. I was young. (when I was 8-9-10 years old, somewhere around there, the neighborhood boys said, "I didn't know Shamoo knew how to ride a bike" )
and  to your other post- about not needing to lose weight. thanks. My upper body has always been fine- I've been happy with it- My arms when I started exercising/ dieting were only 12.5 inches anyways and my waist was only 33 inches and My calves. I like my calves too- so knees down and waist up. what you can't see is the bum and thighs in that picture. They've come down a lot though. (lost 8.5 inches on each thigh)

I've going to Curves tonight (we're celebrating a birthday at work at lunch time so no curves lunch time :( ) I'll weigh in tonight too.

Movie review- we rented The Butterfly effect this weekend- it's been out for a while now but we hadn't rented movies in a long time. It was weird but GOOD! recommend it. and then I rented the terminal with tom hanks- it was cute. Chris didn't care for it though.

Have a great day everyone!

Den@ 01-10-2005 11:38 AM

Measurement/Weigh in Day

Hey, hey, hey~~it's weigh in day!

It's January 10. Ten days into the New Year. How are we doing so far this year? Are we sticking to our weightloss plans?

I'm happy to report that I have lost 4 1/2 inches. 3 1/2 inches in my waist, 1/2 inch around my bust and 1/2 around my thighs.

I'm proud to say that I've been eating right (around 1300 cals with no starchy/processed foods, exercise and 8-10 glasses of water. :)

OK, who's next?
(Hugs),
Dena

KandiceS 01-10-2005 12:51 PM

Dena, That's terrific! way to go! :cheer:

I'll post mine after 6 pm. My newest "worry" is that I'm not going to be able to stop losing weight when I reach goal. I didn't do very well this weekend, not nearly as much water as I should have, lots of fried foods, little debbie snack cakes invaded my house (Chris stopped at the discount bread store Friday evening) and no exercise since Friday afternoon, all that and I still was down 2 lbs this AM on the bathroom scale. Maybe it'll (the weight consequence) show up- I can't keep eating like that!

Den@ 01-10-2005 01:06 PM

Kandice,
Thank you, thank you very much! (Said in an Elvis style. Las Vegas, land of Elvis impersonators).

Good luck to you tonight!
Hugs,
Dena

skinny_butt 01-10-2005 04:48 PM

Hello, ladies

Hope all is going well. I had a new program loaded on my computer and, of course, it messed up almost everything else! Aauugghh! So, here I am. I haven't given up.

Well, no change in the scale today. But, I just started back and my TOM is next week so I'm not fretting. I'll just keep pushing through until I see a drop. I have been op all week and have met my exercise and water goals. I just have to keep hanging in there!

Dollar-welcome to the board. You'll find a lot of support and encouragement here. I know it's helped me a lot!

When do we weigh in? Is it every week, every other or what? I'm just not sure. Any help?

Sounds like everyone is doing well from what I've read.

KandiceS 01-10-2005 06:19 PM

Skinny- every monday weigh in. Congrats on staying OP.

told you I'd post when I got back from Curves- I'm at 179- down 5 lbs from last week.

Got a sick "hubby", he came home from work today even- he never admits he's sick- so it's gotta be pretty bad... So I gotta go play nurse (and cook! :( ) tonight.

Have a great night!

DewCan 01-10-2005 06:31 PM

Skinny, dont' let it get to you. Scales are very moody. :p

Dena and Bonnie, keep up being losers

I was down 2.5 lbs. So I have 7.5 lbs to go for Valentines, and 5 weeks to do it. Hmmm...so if I lose 1.5 a week, I'll get there. Now lets see if I can change the trackers in my signature.

DewCan 01-10-2005 06:34 PM

Kandice, you must have posted while I was typing.

Congrats!!!!!!! That's amazing!!!!!!! You're over half way to goal!!!!!!!! Wow, 5 pounds, so...how'd you do it? You're such an inspiration. Just keep it going.

Diana

Cole63 01-10-2005 08:24 PM

I'm Still Here

Thanks to all of you for your questions and concerns about the gym membership. Just to update you, after driving around for 30 minutes trying to find a place to park and talking to the over bearing sales guy, while noticing that there was not one piece of cardio machinery open, I decided against the whole gym membership. Mainly because they only offer contracted memberships and I do not know where my job will lead me in the next few months. (that's a whole other story :dizzy: ) Needless to say, my life is a little crazy right now. However, I will manage to rush home every day from work to walk the pup. We walked around Stone Mountain on Saturday and Sunday (5 miles around!!!) I wish I could do that every day, but there just are not enough day light hours. Can't wait until day light savings time.

So, my TOM came this past week and I was unsuccesful in losing any weight (probably in part to the chocolate attack I had, I wonder why?) However, I did maintain, which I guess is good. I am kind of discouraged, but I know that I just need to keep on with my points and I will be able to do this! I am so proud of all of you who lost, esp. Kandice-what a great job you are doing-5 pounds? I can only wish for that much of a loss, you are all such an inspiration to me to keep truckin'

DewCan~you are doing such a great job with your biking! Only 7.5 more pounds to go, I know that weight will literally fall off the way you are going!!!

Skinny butt~I am in the same boat as you with the TOM thing, hopefully yours will go better than mine with the whole weight thing. I don't know why, but I always make that week an excuse to eat bad. I hope that you have more will power than me. We will have to encourage each other to keep up the excercise and points! I am going to start going to the meetings with a friend from work. I know this will keep my butt in line, being held accountable to more people than just myself.

Kandice~again, I am so proud of you! Congrats on your loss!!! Good luck with the whole sick hubby thing, that will not be fun :^: Try to disinfect the house so that you will stay healthy! Keep up your hard work, it is obviously paying off! I also meant to post about the whole relative thing, it is really hard when people around you are not supportive or when they say, "what will this one time hurt"? It is like I have to explain to them why I am trying to be healthy and then they just look down at you. Shouldn't they be happy that you are making this change to your lifestyle? I am glad that the step-mom visit went smoothly for you, mabey she is finally accepting your lifestyle change!

Dena~Congrats to you, too!!! You are doing such a good job. It seems like you are really on track. I know that you will have no problem meeting your goals!

tobaccygirl~Florida? That sounds so wonderful. Where exactly are you going in Florida? You will do fine, just stay on your plan and we will all be here for support!

Hello to anyone else I missed on this post. Hope that everyone is doing well towards reaching their goals. I am so glad we have such a good little group going here. Thank you to all of you for your kind words of encouragement, I really appreciate it!

Sorry so long, I had a lot of catching up to do! Good nite, see you ladies tommorrow!

Oh,sweetpea 01-10-2005 10:14 PM

H2O Queen...

How do I drink a gallon of water a day? Well, I have a one quart Rubbermaid bottle and I put 4 heavy duty rubber bands around it. I make sure I drink one bottle before 9, one before noon, one before 3, and one before 6. If I get to my time marker and the bottle isn't finished...I guzzle it. I just carry the bottle around all day and sip. And, when I finish a quart, I remove a rubber band, which helps me keep track. As far as running to the potty...yes, I do do that alot during the day...but sometimes it is the only time of my busy days that I get to SIT DOWN! SInce I don't drink after 6, I am usually "well flushed" before bedtime. By the way...I only make no less than 2, but no more than 3 of the quarts pure water...the last one can be green tea or sugar free lemonade, etc. I drink this amount for no better reason than to just keep myself feeling full. Seems to work:
I've lost 7 pounds since January 1. (and not ALL fluids...har har)

Sweetpea :^:

Den@ 01-11-2005 03:54 AM

Just wanted to congratulate Bonnie, Kandice, and Dew (and me) for being our big losers this week! And congrats to everyone else, too. This week wasn't easy~~trying to change our habits from eating Christmas goodies to training our bodies that this is now a new year and new way of eating. :)

Sweet Pea, thanks for the water explanation. By the way, how did the scale treat you this week? The author of Body Flex is Greer Childers. You can find info on the internet.

Cole, sorry about you gym membership experience. I understand what you're going through. I have been scoping out various gyms I wanted to try, and they all have that 2 year membership, drawing out of your account monthly. There's no way I'm giving my bank account number to these people, so they can take money out. I've heard too many horror stories.

Skinny, sorry about your computer problems. We weigh and/or measure on Mondays. Good luck next Monday. :) Not many weeks left until Valentine's Day... the final goal date.

Flora, how are you doing this week?

Hope I didn't forget anyone.
Hugs,
Dena

KandiceS 01-11-2005 08:40 AM

diana- 2 weeks ago- the week after Christmas I ate and ate and ate and then last week I went back to phase 1 of my low carb. no more than 20 carbs a day. That's how it came off. I'm on phase 2 again this week (40- 60 carbs) so I assume it'll slow down next week. YUP- half way to goal! The number doesn't look so bad now... actually looks attainable.

Cole- thanks for updating us on the gym membership. Is there any curves near you? They let you cancel your membership if you move 25 miles or more away.

Dena- I have heard horror stories too. actually a year or so ago I had my credit card number stolen. (I still had my credit card in my possession) Charged almost 4k on it. What a pain it was to get it all taken care of! I was going to Bermuda on vacation and wanted to charge my airline tickets and didn't have enough because the theif put me close to max. Fortunately they reversed all the charges- after a million papers for me to sign and a new credit card.
I did authorize Curves to take out of my checking for 12 months, but they're the only ones. No problems with them.

dollar 01-11-2005 09:30 AM

Good day everyone - Well I'm down 2 lbs this week which makes me feel great, so in actual fact I'm done 7lbs since Dec 26 but I'm only really counting from when I joined in here. I have been a little frustrated about not getting to the gym as much as I would like. My husband and I went last night at 830 and the place was so crowded we couldn't get on the equipement. I forgot how bad it is at this time of year with all the new members but that usaully only lasts for the month of Jan and then they stop coming, I think someone gives them a 1 month pass for Christmas and then they don't join up and stop coming. So my plan was to go today during the day since it is my day off, yeah well not going to happen the car wouldn't start this morning so it is now in the shop. I guess I just wasn't meant to go but I guess that is ok because my son just came home from school sick he was only there about 15 min, the stomache flu is making it's rounds up here again, it is that time of year. At least we made it through the holidays without getting it.
So I will try the gym again tonight and see if we can go but I will call ahead first before driving down there because it is in the next town.
Hope everyone has a great week and I will check in often.

Cole63 01-11-2005 09:38 AM

Good Morning, everyone.

Kandice~yes, there is a curves close to me. Have you been pretty happy with them? What is your plan/montly dues, if you don't mind me asking. I have heard a lot of good things about curves, but never checked it out. I liked what you said the other day about the 30 minutes of excercise only being a small percentage of your day, I owe myself at least that much! How is your hubby feeling?

Dena~I know what you mean about the credit card scams, my sister had her check card number stolen twice. I have a problem trusting people with my life when it comes to my finances! I can't believe they charged 4K on Kandice's card-scary!!!

Hope that everyone is having a great day. I stayed OP last nite and am doing great so far today. Talk to you all later :D

snoopychick26 01-11-2005 10:39 AM

Hi Everyone!! 2 pounds lost!!

Hi Everybody!!

I joined this group yesterday and am happy to report that I have lost 2 more pounds!! Sure, it could be just water, but I am hoping that the scale says the same thing tomorrow or less. Woo hoo!!

My food is going ok, not perfect, but I am avoiding sugar and foods that cause me to binge.

My bf text-messaged me yesterday and was very sweet and kind. He is a very supportive guy---has never said anything negative about my weight.

I am hoping to get into a size 16 or smaller dress for a formal next month. Wish me luck!

I really appreciate all of your support and encouragement!!!

Good Morning, Everyone!

First of all, I want to welcome Snoopychick! And congrats to you for losing 2 pounds. Good for you for cutting out sugar. You will fit into that size 16 dress by Valentine's Day if you continue to eat right, exercise for 30 minutes a day (walking is good) and drink 8 glasses of water. It's so great that you have a caring and supportive boyfriend. Good luck to you, and we hope you will post often and weigh in with us on Monday. We're rooting for you!

Cole, good luck with finding a good gym! Congrats for staying OP last night! Keep up the good work today!

dollar, congrats to you for losing 2 lbs! Sounds like it hasn't been easy, especially with that crowded gym. They are super crowded here, too. Plus some of them have weird hours. I decided to research a new place, called "Workout Express" on my lunch break, and it was closed! (They must be making lots of money to be open a few hours in the morning and a few at night.) So sorry about your car and son being sick. Take care of yourself.

Kandice, wow, what a hassle! Your credit card stolen? 4K charged on it, too? I'm so glad you got it all straightened out. And keep up the great work, my friend. :)

Time for me to exercise~~
Hugs,
Dena

Cole- go check it out (Curves) they usually show you the machines and you do a couple to show you how anyone can do them. When I signed up I was one of the first 100 people at my location so they knocked off $100 off the sign up fee (usual $149) and then it's $29 a month but you can go as much as you'd like- 6x a week if you want. so like $1 per workout. My curves has promotions all the time. We had one not too long ago- Nov? for breast cancer- if you showed proof of your physical or mammogram in the past year- no sign up charge, then in Dec they wanted to get to 500 members- we had 460ish and they were offerring no sign up fee. in September they had a special for teachers...

I've been very happy with them and obviously seen results- 20 lbs and 44 inches from June 30, 2004- December 22, 2004.

Chris isn't feeling good still- but he went to work today- poor guy. I bet I'll have to cook tonight too! I hate cooking! we have a deal- whoever gets home first cooks- so it's usually him- he gets off work at 2pm... I felt sick this AM all stuffy and everything and still tired and sore even now, hope I'm not coming down with it too!

snoopy- welcome! Congrats on losing! Tell you a secret that helped me- go buy a dress now- not something real expensive just in case- but definietly a nice dress. I have a size 8 dress hanging on the front of my closet because that's the size I want to be. I bought it off a girl on theknot.com for $20. Chris, my fiance, has agreed to take me out someplace special for a celebration- probably dinner and dancing. set your goal now with your bf and hold him to it! Good luck!

Good Afternoon,

Congratulations to all of you who had good weigh-ins! That’s the way to start the new year.

Sorry to have been out of the loop for so long. I live in Southern California, and I’ve been dealing with (and continue to deal with) the fallout from the incredible rainstorm we’ve been having. In my area, we’ve had almost 12 inches of rain in four days. We are currently 360% over our annual rainfall average, and it’s only January. Though the electricity has never gone off completely, it flickers all the time, so I’ve been reluctant to turn on the computer.

My older son was evacuated from his house and is staying with us. Many, many roads are closed throughout our area, and lots of businesses are running on a skeleton crew, because employees can’t make it to work. Our house is fine, but the yard is a swamp and the far end of the patio is under water. (Luckily, it’s sloped correctly.) Right now it’s sunny out for the first time in six days, but there’s more rain forecast for this afternoon. Things are supposed to clear up tomorrow, thank goodness.

As you can probably guess, I have found it impossible to think about eating correctly during all this. I did manage to weigh myself yesterday, and I was happy to discover that I had at least maintained and not gained anything. I’m hoping things will start to get back to normal in the next day or two, and that I can report a weight loss next Monday.

And that’s the news from soggy Southern California.

Hi Ladies.....is this the thread for if I joined the valentine challenge in the buddy forum? I hope so, but if not let me know

I am setting my goal at losing 10 pounds by Valentines. I need to lose 40 pounds total to be at a size that is good for me and I think that short term goals is good.

Hello, Ladies. Hope that everyone had a happy and healthy night. I stayed OP during the day, managed to talk some girls in the office into walking during our lunch (we have great sidewalks around the office park and the weather was perfect) and walked the pup when I got home from work. So, I am feeling pretty positive today! How is everyone else doing with their goals?

Kandice~Thanks so much for the information. I went on the web site yesterday to see if they had any specials posted, but I will def. go and check it out this weekend. That is so funny about the cooking, I hate to cook and am not very good at it! The best things that I can make are on the George Foreman, how much easier can it get? Hopefully Chris is feeling better today, do you still have the sniffles?

Welcome to snoopy and knsj!!! Snoopy, a loss already? You are on the right track, keep up the good work. It is always better when you have someone there to help you along the way. My bf is opposite, he is over 6 ft. and can eat whatever he wants to stay his size, must be nice. That is actually part of my weight gain, after a year and a half together I'm like, ok I can not eat like you, I will gain 50 pounds. He says he loves me no matter what, but I still see the looks he gives those skinny girls, ya know? OK, getting off of my soap box now. Good luck to you !

Florafae~glad to have you back with us. I have seen pictures of those mudslides/flooding and it all looks very scary. So sorry that you are having to go thru this, but just remember: "If God brings you to it, he will bring you thru it". Hopefully things will start to clear up over there and everyone can get back to normal.

On the water note that everyone was discussing earlier, I have one of those 32 oz. thermos water bottles that I keep at my desk. I chug it all day long, I probably drink 5 or 6 of them a day, when it is sitting there in front of you, it forces you to drink it! Another trick I use when I get bored of water is to add a little bit of equal or crystal light (the powdered kind-one tub can last you a week, if you use it sparingly).

Well, I hope that everyone has a great day! Keep up the good work... :strong:

Kandice~ I meant to tell you, you should do sales for Curves, with your percentage of the day to work out and $1 a day for 6 days a week. You really put things into perspective. This whole weight loss thing is as much a mind game as it is a food game and I appreciate your view on things!
