  • Geez linus, does that kid ever do anything by halves??? Ho hum, I don't think you ought to say anything to mel about the wheelchair being held together with trojans. You have problems with a tape measure!!!! Hope you are still off the cigs too.

Meadow I didn't mean to leave you in tears. Not that there is anything wrong with a good weep once in a while. Does the stress levels the world of good. We've all been in a bad place as far as the weight goes, and there are days when it all seems too much. That's the point where one should never, ever give up. In fact one should never ever give up at all. Just stick with us, we will help pull you through. Set little goals. There is always the biggie at the end, but little ones are easier to control. Set lots of them and aim for the nearest. If you miss one then there is always another little goal coming up. They don't all have to do with weight. You can make goals to achieve some crafty bit, or a trip with the kids or ........ the imagination is limitless. And sometimes if you are concentrating hard on something else, you are not in the fridge or wondering what to eat.

Mel must be enjoying herself with Clara or the bus driver - she hasn't been in in a couple of days.

Teel, it's time we all got in on a NOPE challenge here I think. It might spark all of us up after Christmas. Think about it and lets see what sort of challenge we can come up with for next week.

Diane - I'm so sorry about the nephew. It must be awful for the family to have him so sick. What a terrible set of numbers for the blood pressure. Hope there is an improvement soon.

Holly - likewise, I think a challenge might just help you out of the blue funk. Sometimes after having such a good time it is hard to come back to the ordinary every day life again.

Hiya Tig, stop embarrassing the other half - poor guy. Good thing he loves you!!!!

Nae - come out and play for a while. Stop all the housework, sit with coffee and join us again.

It was a back to work day for me today. Must admit I really didn't feel like going but toddled off to the gym and then to work. I was fine by the time I got there. I coming back into the next life rich instead of beautiful! Another stinking hot day. There is a promise (more like a hint really) of a storm tomorrow and then some cooler temps - I'll believe it when I see it.

I've been watching a special on the tsumani disaster. Am I the only one who is beginning to think that Phuket and Thailand got off more lightly than the others. I keep seeing pictures of hotels and tourists all clean and sparkly and enjoying life. I know life must go on and the beaches are out of bounds, but the reports from Sri Lanka and Banda Aceh are truly heartbreaking. Those poor people. Not only do they have to cope with loss of life, loss of income, loss of housing but the help supplies are sometimes nicked by the rebels in the hills as well. Their government seems inept and no one seems to be doing a lot about it. Banda Aceh is at least getting help from the air and from the sea. We sent another load of troops and personnel carriers in landing craft to go into the places which can't be reached by land any more. Why aren't we doing this in Sri Lanka?

Anyway, it is time I went and got myself some dinner. Catch you all.
  • Today is the official Get The Funk Out Day!!!!
In spite of the funk yesterday I did tons of stuff.Didn't particularily enjoy it, but still accomplished a lot.
I ate too many cheese and crackers last night. Will not do that today. I WATP yesterday though. Yoga today.
5 kids today. All playing well for now.DS is at school.

I really am sad that the holidays are over. It has been the nicest Christmas I have ever had in my entire life. I am not ready to let it go. I suppose I could aim for the nicest January of my life. It certainly can not be any worse than last January*shudder*. I am thankful for that.

Shad~hmmm a challenge.Good for you for getting to the gym. Thanks for the boost.
Linus~ oh dear, it this what I have to look forward to??
CL~ your nephew is in my prayers.
MEEEEL~ wake up!!! How's your day going??

Have a wonderful day. Oh, the sun just peeked out here. Nice.
  • Hello to all. Now for a mystery! I have just posted on the other thread that I post on, and my smilie link was working perfectly, and now I have just started this post and my smilie link isn't playing ball at all? 'Tis one of the great mysteries of the universe I think!! No. Just tried again. Click on a smilie and the whole page jumps around. I don't understand.

I could have been in prison posting this to you this evening! Let me tell you the tail! I met with my social worker at noon and we had coffee in a very busy coffee shop where we sat near the door. After about an hour we aranged our next meeting and got up from our table and put coats and scarves on, and left...trying not to knock everyone over standing in the doorway in the process. We walked halfway up the hill and Judy had gone on ahead as I was having a "go slow" day. I put my hand in my coat pocket and to my horror felt the £5 note I had previously got out of my purse to pay for the coffee! I called to Judy "did we pay?!" and she gasped and came back down the hill and said she would go back and pay to save me from going all the way back down the street again. I wonder what they said. I wonder if they had even noticed?! Perhaps we had not better go back there for a few weeks!! They might think we make a habit of leaving without paying our dues!!

What is a NOPE challenge? Please help me out here!!
Linus, I swear that boy of yours is going to have his brain knocked out one day, that's for certain! Stupid boy. He is going to hurt for a while yet with a broken nose. I know he is your son and you love him dearly I am sure but can't you hypnotise him to stay out of trouble for a few months? Please....I know how much you worry about him and I know the stress takes it's toll on your health as well.
Hollyhock I hope your day felt a lot better today and that your mood has lifted enough for your day to be enjoyable. I am glad that you enjoyed Christmastide so much! Treasure those memoires!!
I'd better go. My friend Edwina is bit upset on the phone. Better give her my full attention for now.See you soon.
  • Teel~ NOPE is no off plan eating
Shad~ I just heard on the noon news that Canada is sending troops to Sri Lanka today to help out, medics, food supplies etc
  • Good on Canada Holly, the report I saw the other night said that there was a team of Doctors going from Colombo down to Galle and they were escorted by the police. However the police refused to drive overnight in certain areas as the 'days' belong to the police and the 'nights' belong to the rebels. The roads are apparently so bad, that what would be a normal 4 or 5 hour drive for people like us takes over 10 hours in Sri Lanka. For the life of me I couldn't work out why the doctors and the medicines were not dropped in by helicopter or taken in by sea. The darned place is right on the waters edge for goodness sake.
You know, my father was there during the last world war. He said that Sri Lanka was an absolutely beautiful island - takes good ol' man to come along and stuff it right up with politics hey!!! And going back in history - they had a woman Prime Minister for many years and didn't have the problems that they have now. But then I am just being cynical.
Good sleep last night, but it is dawning hot cloudy and horribly humid. This type of weather reminds me of why I should be rich and summer out of the sub tropics. Mind you, the weather in NZ this year has been atrocious and I hear that the summer so far has been the worst on record in over 60 years.

Holly, hope the blue funk goes away soon. I'm sure it is just a let down from all the Christmas/ New Year activities and excitement. Again, setting goals and making achievements may well help you to move on. Plan something social for later in the month. That always give me an incentive to get on and do things. Mind you I am a great one for saying to myself that I have time to do this, and put it off until I am forced to get into top gear and work like a maniac.
Still working on a nope for us all to have a lash at. But for the moment I had best get off here and go feed her majesty. I'm getting some really shirty looks here!
  • good evening chickies
how are we all this evening ??????? good i hope ??? ""MEL WHERE ARE YOU ""do you think they forgot to pick her up in the bus ?? or maybe shes run away with one of the maintenance men?? kidnapped by aliens?
well the little darling woke up with a lovely set of black eyes this morning and a lovely cut on the bridge of his nose the school are going to think i batter him !!!! next thing you know theyll be on the phone telling me to hit him harder i asked him when he was going to start revising for is prelims and he told me "are you having a giraffe" {having a laugh} so i think hes goingt o do so badly in the practice exams that it might scare him into really cramming for his proper exams
SHAD still not got to grips with that tape measure yet dh says i feel fine im terrible at thinking about plans so anything you come up with ill give it a go
TEEL that was craig at the door when i was getting off the phone last night and id really go to task with him but he didnt start it and in this day and age he has to stick up for himself or **** have to stay in the house for ever ill phone later if i get time in between trying to get the brats showered and there clothes ironed and the bags organised and im going to have to shower cleo cause she decieded to try and eat andrews bolognaise sauce off the worktop and as only her tounge reached the bowl her face is now orange and ive spent the last hour washing the sauce off my white kitchen
HOLLY your kids would never be this bad and if they are just send them to me as ill have already done it once the school say its because hes so clever so i suppose i shouldnt complain but then again conner never causes any problems hardly ever goes out knows computers inside out and is so quiet and the school tell me hes clever too sometimes you just have to hold on and hope your still there at the end of the ride and they really are the best two things that ever happened to me and they can be so sweet
TIG i was out with the dogs last night and i had to chase cleo to stop her attacking this dog that was trying to have its wicked way with her and i ran all of ten foot and i was knacked so im very much at awe of you and to keep a toy boy too what do you eat for breakfast?????????
HAPPY tell them to wait there turn im positive that in reverse they wouldnt have gotten off for you roll on your house hunting and an internet connection of your own {as if thats all you need a house for } any luck yet ????
MEADOW you need to have more confidense in your self just sit one day and do what i did and take a good long hard look at your kids and just realise that you made them and the best brains in the world havent been able to make kids without using the basic ingrediants from a WOMAN and you did it and from what youve told us they are real good kids and goprgeous too so just be proud
CANDLE hows the nephew?? hope the family are pulling together for him and each other you take your time well be here when you get back and pass on my good wishes for a speedy recovery
MEL ill pop back in later to see if your back from road testing the trojans {took me ages to work out what trojans were we have durex} as i worry when your not here to keep us all in check
right im going for round two of "are you sure everything you need is in the school bag ,do you need shorts have you got all your books and no you are not wearing that to school " and ill speak to you all later
    kirsty
  • Can't believe I had to actually log in tonite! Almost forgot how to do that! !
I am just checking in and will post tomorrow sometime. New boss coming in and much goings on. No one will be there to need me so I should be fine for the rest of the week. I DID get to food and clothes shop!!! got some lovely veggies and fruits and clothes in similar colors! Hope you are all well and smiling. Sweet dreams and good morning to those south of us just getting ready to face the day! :-)
  • Christmas is really over now
Took the decorations off the tree today and put away all the periphery things. Sigh, I do like the sparkle of Christmas, I'm going to miss it. Maybe I should get some fairy lights to put around to ease the withdrawal A fresh cut tree drops very few needles and we will probably go that route again next year. My sister-in-law had a fake tree that spun around with an Angel on top that flapped her wings My kids looked at our tree like it was some sort of letdown after that but I just kept backing the corner of the real tree with its beautiful scent and its immobile drooping branches.

Shad-Will this NOPE challenge involve no white chocolate? I need to clean a space and get exercising. I'm missing it but... my husband is going on a business trip tomorrow for a week so maybe I can focus on myself and not have his energy draining me I don't mean that in a bad way, just that I find it easier to get things done if I'm not being asked what I'm doing, when are you going to be done... yada, yada. I saw a picture in the paper of a village that was totally wiped out after the big wave hit, all that was left was a mosque. Looked like an archeology dig, just faint outlines of the buildings that used to be there, very eerie. Gloomy and scary. It is horrible to think that people are trying to get airfare into these places to take advantage and pillage. I guess the human race has its cruddy as well as its noble qualities come out when something this huge happens.

Mel-does the new boss coming around mean you have to tidy and make things ship shape so that you will not be called upon to explain things? Is there a office procedure manual? I had to make one of those up before I left my last job, no one knew how to do my job or where anything was.

Linus-How distressing that your son had to defend himself. Maybe he should get some proper lessons in kickboxing or karate so he doesn't wind up so bruised up next time.

Teel-Fancy you doing a dine and dash Glad the situation was put right and you discovered in time before they sent the cops after you. Can't imagine why the little smilies aren't working for you, must be a hiccup in the cookies or something. I know the page takes forever to load for me as my spyware stops all the cookies trying to load onto my computer.

Holly-I know how you feel about the holidays passing. I am sad about the change to regular routine again too. Oh well, can't have the glitz and glitter all the time *though I am plotting to get a bit of it back

Diane-I am sorry your family is suffering with your nephew being so ill. I hope he stabilizes and gets better soon. Gave me the chills reading that his insides were full of infection. Big hug for all the stress

Tig-I used to have a dog that shook terribly during thunder storms, fireworks, etc. I always turned up the tv or radio so it wasn't so noticeable for him. He was very high strung. We have a Beagle now, nothing bothers him. He gets poked in the nose by my friends two year old and just blinks. Such a trooper.

Happy- how is it going? Are you feeling southern yet? What food have you discovered? Is the southern fried chicken really better? Not that I think you are eating it, just talking to people Hope you are relaxing into the new space and finding your way around alright. It will take time till you get your full bearings but you knew this adventure was going to take some time to navigate
  • Just wanted to check in and first of all thanks for all the well wishes for my nephew. He is just about the same, they tried taking breathing tube out yesterday but had to put it back in, his pneumonia is still there. I feel good about his recovery, just think it will take time. I will check back in from time to time, the stress is really getting to me.

    Hugs to all, Diane
  • Trying to catch up with you lot is like pedaling uphill in a blinding snowstorm!
Diane~ I am glad the nephew is doing better and sending good thoughts his way for a speedy recovery. Shame the Drs didn't do the job right the first time!

Tig~ Loved where your mind was wandering to! Too bad you didn't finish the story.....or don't they let anyone write porn on 3fc?!?!?

Meadow~ You are so busy helping and motivating others that you forget yourself!!! Seems we all have a lot in common on this 80 chicks. We should all concentrate on US this year and boot anyone in the butt that isn't doing it! Good luck with the New goals what ever they may turn out to be. Happy Exercising!

Linus~ God bless the kids of today. Especially boys. the need to defend yourself is so much more necessary today as it seems we live in a more physical world again. Hope Craig's nose is getting better. Glad Connor likes computers as they seldom attrack anyone unprovoked or so I heard. Also glad you figured out the durex thing! I forget sometimes that we are multi-national! all the talk of durex and tapes over there is not getting your measurements done! But at least it's more fun!!! Maybe I should get one of the boys from maintenance to do mine!!

Shad~ words fail me at the way things are being done overseas. Rebels everywhere and the slowness of the system! Let me attem!!! We'll get the job done and do it right to boot! I am going to plan my meals better this week and took the hint from your journal. don't want to be wasting all the food I just bought by not eating it!! glad I read your post this morning bright and early. Now don't you go forgetting breakfast anymore either!

Teel~Sometimes I am afraid you can read my mind!! I am a bit weary for a lot of reasons. I need to find some balance here in my life. Then I won't tire myself out!
BUT.....I must ask "are you doing the same?"! (giggle, giggle)

Holly~ my bright friend....there is a lot of letdown after Xmas and I for one am fighting it like mad!!! Hope the funk leaves soon. (((((HUGS)))))) Soon you'll find something that will make you forget all about it!

Hello to Happy and Nae!!! And Shaker if she is peeking in once and awhile!

Shopping was great fun and I got a lot for the $$! 3 complete outfits and 2 tops.
The outfits can go almost into any season except the hotter part of summer. So the clothes are very versatile. Got a watercolor how to book. After one try, I realize I could use the help! The closets are stocked with good food from yesterday and the rest of this week should belong to me! The new boss is only part time but I hope he smacks some heads and gets the ball rolling soon.
A man I know and who helped us at the building has passed on. Vinnie was a very caring perso. He ran the Department of Public works and helped us with snow removal every winter. A building this large and with so many disabled people, snow and ice is a nightmare. Through all my ranting and raving he was a saint and a good friend. He leaves big shoes for the next guy to fill and I will miss him.

Well sitting here is not getting started on the day. Just got off the phone with Jen too. Called Mom to complain!!! Gave her the offic phone number and said CALL THERE YOU SILLY GIRL!!! Hope you all have a great day and Happy Humping!!
  • Are we humping today. Hard to believe it is wednesday already. I am still trying to get my week started!
Mel~ watercolours are the hardest painting medium. Did you know that? Have you painted before? Oils and acrylics are far more forgiving as you learn. Hope the book helps you out. I have always been a watercolour chicken!!
Happy to see your smiling um*typing* here. Was going to say face.Dont have a clue what the term would be.
  • Okey dokey. Here is my plan for the aft. The babysitting kids are gone.I just had a devine soak in the tub.I will watch my soap, file my feet, fold a load of wash and have a tea.At 2 I will WATP. I will then dust and vacuum. At 3 I may have another tea. My kids get home at 3:40.
    breaky-1 ww toast,scrambled eggs,banana, yogurt
lunch- cheese and crackers, fresh fruit and veg
dinner will be a chicken stir fry and brown rice

    This is my morning post.......
Yesterday was all about shaking out of the funk. Today is all about getting in a new groove.
That fudge fairy attacked when I had tea in the aft. The rest is getting pitched out today. My goal for today is a no cheese, no sugar day. I need to cleanse the body of those critters.
I weigh in tonight. I will start a new challenge with TOPS. I will see how I did on the NO Gain Holiday Season.
I will do yoga this morning and then WATP at 2 this aft. I stayed up too late reading again.I need to to get to sleep earlier. My dad gave me a hilarious book on Fairies for Christmas. I read it last night. For a chuckle look for Lady Cottington's Fairy Album.
OH, I got a phone call from the local library last night. They had put a sign up sheet up for a reading group. They had such good response they are forming 2 groups. Woohoo! Who knew that there were so many bookies in this tiny hamlet. We meet on Thurs to set it up!!
The kids and I took down all the decorations last night. The tree will, alas, come down today. sigh
DD cried a sad small cry getting on the bus today. DS is all keen. They are learning about money and Japan.DH taught him to count to 5 in Japanese. DS was thrilled.
I just put the baby down for his morning nap. Time for some yoga. I have a stiff neck again.

    SO.....
I did the yoga, ate cheese, no sweets, all the decoraitons are taken down and put away
The last of the good wine flavoured cheese is gone. Tomorow I will NOT eat cheese.

All My Children is waiting. Hope everyone is having a good day in their part of the world.
