July Journalers: Let's Perk Up and Try Again Starting NOW!!!! Wow! Pow! Zam!
Ok, I think we had a little journaling "club" going here that was pretty successful in helping us focus! So why not try, try again?
I'm reminding myself that I did the best weight management work in years for the months that we did this journal ... something about the focusing and checking in with the group rather than just going it alone. I'm reminding myself that a "journal" entry can be a menu/exercise list or simply a notation of what I ate or did. Reminding myself that this thread does not need to be a long conversation, just a quick note posted on the wall here each day.
Reminding myself that there's no time like the present to begin a new beginning.
Hoping someone will join me in committing to journaling food and exercise here for the remainder of July and sharing our successes and setbacks as well.
Ok, Journal Club Member Amarantha! I see you are ready to focus again. I will join thee in a (more or less) commitment to the journal thread for the month of July. ~ Signed, er, Amarantha
Thursday, July 1: 2650 calories, 60 minutes jogwalking, did not log food, only calories
Friday, July 2: Career gone haywire, ate every unhealthy thing in sight in order to feel better but felt worse, estimated calorie count 3000, exercise 25 min weights in gym
Exercise: 10 min Wai Lana yoga, starting 21-day yoga challenge that I'll log on the 21-day challenge thread as well as here! Huzzah! Sick of the negativity, must do yoga!

Reason: Adding exercise, adding another low carb shake
Not sure I'll be steady here the next few days but I'll try - kept thinking all day that this or that would be a good choice to report - like several good things I passed up in grocery store that were ever so tempting.
Anyway - exercise was walking an hour in the grocery store. may still get out for a little walk this evening. If I do, I'll report but here's my food so far.
mix kashi cereal 2% milk (dh made breakfast and forgot I'm drinking skim)
8 fish stix
broccoli carrot mix
frozen yogurt (about 160 calories)
one taco chip w/creamy dollop of something on it at grocery store
1/2 svg of cranberry/orange relish
taco salad - no chips or sour cream
Friday was higher
1/2 rye bagel w/pb
1 cup lowfat yogurt
celery
slimfast meal bar
glass of zinfandel - first in months
tuna panini (good size)
several chips
frozen yogurt
I think that was it.
Don't remember Thursday but recollect it was moderate.
Yowza, Anagramatic's in the house!!! Huzzah! Now we're cooking (metaphorically speaking)!
I'll be editing mine through the evening if anything comes up. Going to have another low carb shake to steady the ol' blood sugar! Huzzah!
Will be working in mountains all day tomorrow and then covering fireworks, but WILL be journaling carefully and be back with a report tomorrow night! If I am not back, send the dogs out with brandy! Thanks!!!

Thanks for starting the thread, Empress! I'm feeling a faint glimmer of hope--by golly, I've done it once and I'll do it again! I have some new "toys" to play with and I'm hoping that they'll get me going again. Garry bought a badminton set today and we've tried it already and it's a great workout, surprisingly. And I bought a set done by 'The Firm" at Target today. 3 videos and a weighted stick sorta thing. I'm still loving the 'Firm" videos I bought a few months ago--just haven't been using them as regularly. I highly recommend them!
Anyway, here's today's food intake:
coffee w/ ff 1/2 and 1/2 [my giving up coffee didn't last long! ]
ww tortilla w/ cheese, egg sub, veg. sausage, lettuce
Salad w/ ff raspberry dressing
3 pcs. veg pizza [small pieces!]
root beer {Had this meal at a restaurant}
Peppermint patty
peanut butter-choc chip cookie
1 pc. veg. pizza
ff pudding w/ raspberries
3 saltines w/ almond butter
calories: ?
Water: dismal--only excuse is we were gone all day
Exercise: 3 mile walk AM
30 min. badminton
Add a sliver of lemon meringue pie to yesterday. Plus what started out to be a litle walk that ended being a long stand as I ran into my good friend (and she wasn't in her walking shoes) and we were just going to talk a few minutes and...........So it was a very little walk but a long chat.
Well, Sunday -hmmm
2 sour cream donuts (auspicious start?)
lo carb meal at Ruby Tuesday's -
chopped steak (fairly small)
broccoli
mashed cauliflower (their menu lists it at 166 calories which I didn't read before I ordered - I think next time I'll get something else. their new menu is great as it lists all sorts of info on lots of menu items and includes a lot of healthy choices plus what they do fry now is fried w/canola oil)
cream for 2 decafs
4 cherries
ham sandwich on ww
more cherries
piece of cake (served by dh so it was 2-3 times my sliver but I ate it anyway)
fr yogurt
pretzels
'
a little walk, enough water
coffee w/ ff 1/2 and 1/2
2 ww toast w/ lite cream cheese, egg, lettuce, peppers, onion
crackers and peanut butter
wha guru chew
lite caramel frappicino
1/2 dulche de leche bar
bean burrito
chocolate ice cream cone
That's the damage so far----we were gone again all day, so I didn't get much water or exercise. Bad excuses and I must do better. The good news is my body's craving something really clean like fruit, so I'll probably have some tonight.
By the way, Starbuck's has lite frappicinos now and they're great. Huge difference in fat and calories--they'll be glad to show you their nutritional info. Made with low-fat milk and sweetened with 1/2 sugar and 1/2 Splenda---it's a lovely treat, still as expensive as ever though! Don't forget to tell them to leave off the whipped cream on top---it's full of FAT!
Calories: ? [must start counting again!!!!]
exercise: 2 mile walk AM
15 min. yoga
Well, this isn't pretty, but it was HOT out there in the Arizona sun covering a parade, fire, festival and fireworks on top of not feeling well all night, so:
Thanks everyone for being so friendly!
I am not doing perfectly as I have my period and want to eat everything in sight, and we need to do some grocery shopping and all the healthy food (i.e. produce) is gone. There will always be excuses, though, so I have to learn to be more resilient.
Here's Sunday, 7-4...
9:45 AM in the kitchen with my dad, kind of dissappoined (I missed my July 4 goal by half a pound) and very hungry. 3/4 cup Honey Bunches of Oats with "bananas." 120 calories.
12:30 PM at work with my assistant manager. A Wendy's frosty, small. I was hungry. I work in a mall and there are very few healthy alternatives at the food court.
3:10 pm lunch break at the food court. General Tso's chicken and fried rice from the Chinese place. It can't be good for you, but I like this place because the food isn't greasy or covered in syrup.
11:30 pm in the kitchen, a granola bar. This breaks my "no eating after nine" rule but when your stomach's growly that's okay!
exercise: 20 minutes workout mode on Dance Dance Revolution, which is probably the only high-impact cardio I'd willingly do. Every time I do it I'm drenched. I'm trying to gradually increase my endurance and get to 25 minutes 30, and so on. Also, an upper-body focused yoga session.
Hmmm. Abba, if you're not doing perfectly, you fit right in here!
Er, didn't mean to imply that anyone else is not perfect, just me! My report is a narrative and, E, my focus is maybe at a minus 2! But I'm working on it, too! No more negativity.
Anyhow, the narrative: After a 4th of July working until 10 p.m. or so in the grueling heat on what should have been my day off, I started the first of two production days in my new position ... hmmm, I think that was Monday ... wait, it IS still Monday and that means I still have Tuesday, anyhow, I digress. I woke early but gym is closed. Wanted to go and buy French toast sticks at BK but made healthy choice of a whole wheat chicken sandwich w/spinach. Drove to newspaper office ... it's in the mountains and there is a convenience store there with lots of stress food. Everything went black after that. At some point I came home but have to go back tomorrow. I will try to go to gym first and make healthy choices and keep calories down.
I did do 10 minutes of Wai Lana yoga sometime in this endless day. That is all!
anagram- what part of PA? I'm in the Philly suburbs... Bucks County.
Monday 7-5
9:45 AM in the kitchen with my dad, tired and very hungry. 1 1/2 cups of Honey Bunches of Oats "banana" flavor.
3:00 PM at my grandmother's house with my whole family. Feeling uncomfortable, a little hungry. A handful of "pub mix" (like chex mix). A handfful of cheese curls. 3 bite-sized brownies.
5:45 PM, same place, not very hungry but feeling obligated to eat. A few forkfuls of mashed potatoes, a big bowl of salad with nuts, grapes, goat cheese and a really light dressing, and half a slice of herb bread.
exercise: I was planning on going for a walk today in my neighborhood but my boyfriend and I went to a shopping town instead and power-walked for a while.
Not a great start to my posting here, but I have nowhere to go but up. Tomorrow, no seconds!
