Good Morning Chickies and WELCOME to our new home. It is always a good idea to make a fresh start and when it is connected with our health then it is even better. We all know by now that eating well and exercising is essential for us to have a healthy life so let's us decide today, not tomorrow or Monday, that from now on we will strive to be healthy most of the time. We will not say all of the time because there will be times when it is difficult to be completely healthy such as the weekend and parties etc., but even then we don't have to go overboard! We have only one chance at living this life so why not do the best we can with it and make it as happy for ourselves as is possible. The short term happiness that comes from indulging in 'bad foods' is not true happiness. True happiness comes from living a good life, having good friends, eating good food and exercising. Let's make today the first day of the rest of our lives and from now on we will be truely happy.
I am going to try and report in here every day just to say how I am doing. I may not have time to 'talk' to everyone but when I do have the time I will.

HAPPINESS

You can't eat happiness
You can't buy it. You can't wear it.
You can't drive it, or drink it, or sell it, or steal it.
You can't lock it away. You can't negotiate for it.
You can't win it, you can't marry it, you can't inherit it,
you can't cheat it. You can't smoke it, or inject it,
or rent it or borrow it. You can't campaign for it
or beg for it, or talk other people into giving you theirs.

You can live happiness. You can create it. You can be it.
You can give it to others. You can enjoy it. You can share it.
You can claim it. You can have as much as you wish.
You can enjoy it as much as you want, at any time,
under any circumstance. You can work with it,
play with it, worship, travel, eat, and sleep with it.
Happiness is yours to live and yours to give, if only you will.
It comes from the inside, and the best way to experience
it is to get it flowing out.

Forget about trying and striving to get happy.
Just decide to be happy, and happiness is yours.

Good Mornin' Chickies~~ And a big Thank You to MOOZ~ for giving us this lovely start again. #13 already! And thanks for the pep talk. I know i needed it.
You are right that we know what to do by now, and what makes us feel better in our bodies. I think the hardest thing for me is that i feel like i've cut way down on snacks/bad for us foods, and still i stay the same weight. I know my metabolism is such that i need to IN ADDITION to what i am doing right, add the exercise in, and keep it varied. Or i will get no-where.
I hope in saying it on the boards it will help me to achieve these goals.

~~CAT~~way to go on eating more fruits & veggies and feeling better for doing that i'm sure. Prayers n   for your DH. Hope his tests show that it won't be necessary to do that to his esophagus again. But if it's the only thing again that will help, i hope he goes thru it well.

Going to get dressed and go outside. It is going on 7 a.m. the sun is up and now will be the coolest part of the day. So why not do a walk around our little resort.

I'll check back here later on. Everyone have a great FRIDAY~~ i do remember how good those days felt. And post soon to update us on how things have been for you this work week.

Mornin' chickies. It is a very wet Sat morning here today but I just got my 2 mile walk in before the rain came on. I am in arush as I have to go food shopping so have a nice Sat wherever you are.

Dividing moment

This is the moment that divides the past from the future. And this is the moment that you control. It's a powerful place to be. What you do right now will determine what you carry from your past into your future.
You can choose to hold on to all the good, empowering things such as your knowledge, your positive relationships, your wisdom and experience. And you can choose to move beyond those things that have held you back, such as negative habits and low expectations.

If you've dragged yourself down, if you've held yourself back, now is your opportunity to begin moving yourself forward. Now is the time when you can put all your past experience, whatever it has been, to positive and productive use.

The past does not equal the future, and right now is the moment that proves it. Right now is a doorway through which you can carry those things that will bring a brighter future.

See this moment for all it is, and live it fully for all you can be.

RE: God Bless Our New Home...

http://www.imgag.com/product/full/ap...9/graphic1.gif

Happy beautiful Saturday morning everyone!!! I hope everyone is finding our new home, and as always when we begin a new thread - if you are new and would like to join us - please do! This is a safe, comfortable place with lots of support and knowledge from a group of caring and dedicated individuals.

Mooz: Thank you as always for providing lucky number #13 thread. I cannot say why, but that number has always been the opposite for me - lucky! I agree and appreciate your words of wisdom and encouragement. I am there with you.

Thin: The heat is up here in central Kentucky! Upper 70's today and 80's tomorrow. We had 6 inches of snow in parts of Kentucky this week - honestly!

I hope everyone is blessed with the ease and comfort that comes from making positive decisions that provide each of us with the desired results. Oh what a feeling. I shall move it this weekend! :flow2: :dancer: :flow1: :flow2: :dancer: :flow1: :flow2: :dancer: :flow1: :flow2: :dancer: :flow1: :flow2:

Catlover777 04-17-2004 09:54 PM

Mooz--

Thanks for the new home, and also the inspirational quotes.

Have been discouraged on the exercise because of my foot hurting--I see the podiatrist Wed., and if she doesn't come up with something different, I am going to get a 2nd opinion.

DH will need his esophagus reamed out again--actually, the dr said he expects to do this every 14 months with patients with his condition, so his going almost two years is good. (The older you get, the weirder good news gets.)

Meanwhile, I have been doing better at work, so that helps some.

Beautiful weather today! Hope everyone has had a fine weekend.

mooz49 04-18-2004 04:37 AM

Mornin' chickies glad some of you found us. Nita, I know, lost us but hopefully she will be here later on. If some of you don't like the number 13 we can soon move on to No 14 ;)
I hope to get for a walk soon .............. but I have to go to a funeral later on ....... one of the linedancer's mother died suddenly on Friday.
Eating is good.

http://www.imgag.com/product/full/ap...8/graphic1.gif

Hey everyone!

Just a quick hello to say great to hear from everyone and enjoy your frree time if you do not have to work or have lots and lots of committments today. I as usual have committments to school work and such, but do plan to take some time to celebrate Rocky's first birthday today!

I went to a wedding party last evening and did not eat any of the food. You have no idea how good I felt driving home. Oh what a feeling, success to overcome what I know has been bad for me for my entire life. I only pray for the strength and resolve to commit to me. The tulips and flowering trees wer incredible to watch during the hour drive to the party - love this time of year.

CAT: I use a hot parafin wax dip for my feet. I think I've told you I have bone spurs in both heels. No fun when they kick up the pain factor. As they say, when you feet hurt, you hurt everywhere. I also love my Birks.

Mooz: Thanks for popping in... thanks for the new thread. #13 works for me. It was my ticket number years ago to my senior prom. I won the door prize that evening! ;)

Nita 04-18-2004 05:24 PM

Mooz, Thanks for the quick reply on how to find our "new" home! As usual, you have done a "SUPER" job. 13 happens to be my "lucky" number so this is fine with me.

HalGal, Thanks for reminding me about dog's birthdays. Our Tiffany turned 3 yesterday and I completely blocked it out. Perhaps we will have a belated party today. Our friends came over the last minute and we played pinnochle and I guess that's why I forgot.

Thin, You must agree this weather has been fantastic. I am just afraid one day I will wake up to those 100 degree temperatures. I did go bowling already today and I am planning on doing some planting this afternoon. I also confirmed my reservations to go to PA on June 2 and returning on the 15th. It isn't that far away so before I know it I will be gone and back home again.

Well I had better get going for now.

So great to find you guys!
Anita

Hi Chicks~~ Just a quick post as i might be away from the computer for many days. The people who bought the motorhome are getting antsy to actually get the thing...and who can blame them. So we had to see if we could stay a few days with MIL and step-dad. Sounds like this will work out. So i have been extremely busy packing up some of this motorhome. I still cannot believe how much it holds! I am only about 1/3 done so far. Some i have to wait till the last minute for, like the freezer and refrig anyway, so it's a challenge to plan properly!

And i had to say how ironic it is that i also don't mind the #13. I always say it's lucky for me too. Funny how alike we all seem to be! Must be why we stick together here.

~~CAT~hope the foot doctor can recommend something better to help you, or yes you can always ask for a 2nd opinion. Glad work is better. Take care~~

~~NITA~~ i'm glad it is even a bit cooler here now, as we have such things to do with the packing and lugging it into the truck and then taking it back out at our new place. Very busy. Glad you are able to bowl again, and planting too! YGG. I took my tomato plants(2 potted ones) over to MIL's now. I still want to try to get one home with us in the pickup. We have that cap on the back, so it might be possible.

Happy belated birthdays to Rocky and Tiffany~~

~~HALGAL~~~ WTG on keeping from eating at the event you attended. YGG  Did you plan ahead and eat a salad at home or how did you do it??
So happy for you.

All for now chickies~~ :grouphug: got to make supper for us both now. And early to bed so we can start all over again tomorrow w/the packing~

RE: Planning and decision making...

Hey girls...

The day flew by, but what a nice one it was. Did anyone catch Heather Mills McCartney's interview with Paul Newman on Larry King Live. I taped it and watched it today. It seems interesting how folks land these incredible jobs and/or circumstances because of who they are, or in this case are married to. I enjoyed it, but let's just say for someone who is snippppppy when ask most anything personal - she dove into Paul Newman's life. He used the quote 'I am not comfortable discussing that.' throughout the interview.

Thin: Good luck packing, you know you will certainly lose one thing, and find something your forgot you had! I had an early Adkins dinner before the wedding party. I grilled a steak, and steamed some fresh brocolli with lemon pepper on it. Yummmm. I took 2 bottles of water with me - one for the drive each way (one hour drive). I kept visualizing myself 'Thin' once again. It take positive thoughts and actions.

Tomorrow is a long day. We have a 3 hour portfolio writing scoring meeting. Actually, we have these the next 3 Monday's in a row!!!

I grabbled a salad for dinner tonight from Arby's. They have changed the salad menu, and this one looks really good. Tonight I had a Santa Fe Chicken salad. It had black beans, corn, cherry tomatoes, dark greens including spinach and a spicy ranch dressing. Oh, it had a tiny bag of tortilla type chips. It was VERY good. I also picked up a Martha's Vineyard salad for lunch tomorrow. It has dried caranberrys and a bag of sliced almonds and dressing is a raspberry vinegarette.

OK enough for the Arby's commercial, huh?

I played extra, extra with Rocky today... I hope he had a good birthday!

Have a GREAT week everyone! OP for me. OP for me. OP for me.

 :hb: :hat: :dizzy:  :hb: :dizzy:  :hb: ;)

Mornin' chickies ............ just a quick call before gettin' ready for work. I did get for a 2 mile walk last night between the showers so that was good. Eating is good but this week I think I will concentrate on portion control as that is, I think, where I am failing and the weight is staying put.

Thin - you must be getting used to this packing by now ;) ......... looking forward to when you get back to us.

Halgal - well done on your excellent plan foir the dinner party ............ it just shows what can be done when we put our minds to it.

Nita - glad you found us ........ I am sure you are looking forward to going to PA in June.

Catlover - I hope the foot is better soon.

We are a small group at the moment .............. as Halgal has already said ........ if anyone else wants to join us ............ feel free as we love to meet new people on this thread .......... new people means new inspiration and we always need more of that .................

Truly best

It's easy to think that life is unfair, and to lower your expectations accordingly. It's easy to find someone or something to blame for your disappointments, and then to give up on moving forward.
It's easy to convince yourself that you can't, and to find plenty of perfectly valid reasons for hiding away from life. But what does that really accomplish? It's easy to settle for less than you know you can be. Yet doing so can often lead to a terribly difficult and disappointing life.

The easiest choices in the short term usually bring the most difficult consequences in the long run. So the more you seek a life of ease, the more uncomfortable, the more truly uneasy it becomes.

To choose what is best, for yourself, for your world, is not usually the easiest choice. To follow the path of what is best takes commitment, effort, some discomfort and sacrifice.

Rather than quickly jumping on the easiest choice, consider the long-term effects on your precious and irreplaceable life. Look at the big picture, and you'll find yourself choosing what is truly best.

Hello Ladies,

Sorry I was MIA this weekend, had alot of things going on. We'll for one thing, I rejoined Ww saturday morning. I decided I need to go back to a system where i actually write down my food, or keep track. I talked with the instructor and told her one of my downfall with Ww is I eat to many carbs. She gave me a seperate handout menu with more protein. So i'm going to try and follow that. Of course friday night, I ended up eating more than I needed only because I new I was going to join on saturday.
Oh, there also running a special down here, no joining fee, so all I paid was $12

we'll I need to run... I walked at lunch so I have about 10 minutes to eat my lunch and get back to work...

talk to you all later..

Nita 04-19-2004 09:19 PM

Good Evening Ladies,

Well, it was another beautiful day in Phoenix. The temperature right now is 79! It really gives me a lot of energy to get outside and do yard work--and that's exactly what I did this morning. At my DH suggestion I used our electric clippers and trimmed two different bushes. I still have about 3 more to do and then I have a whole row of shrubbery. I guess I will be busy for the next couple of days. Our screened-in patio came out very well. I believe it will add value to our home.

I did go bowling today and had one good game--192 and the other two were okay but not great. I am not sure if I passed on a tip about cinnamon. Supposedly if you add it to your cereal or whatever, it does help curb your appetite. I used it yesterday as well as today and didn't get hungry until lunch.

Well I am going to go now so that I can do my treadmill while I watch American Idol's bad auditions.

Take care,
Anita

RE: When the chips are down...

Happy Monday everyone...!!!

I survived my 12 hour day, but oh my gosh...! Poor Rocky, I come home and all I want to do is veg - he is reved to run! Bless his heart. On the positive side of things, I've scheduled a personal day on Wednesday to attempt to catch up on the papers due next week for my university class.

My eating is good - love summer time veggies. Today I had a Martha's Vineyard salad from Arbys. It had dried cranberries, sliced apples, cherry tomatoes, cheddar cheese, spinach, romaine lettuce, sliced almonds and a raspberry vinegarette. Girls... these things are filling and very, very good!

Let's keep the positive thoughts flowing. Good to hear from everyone.

Oh one quick questions for...

Nita: Have you read your book 'Passing For Thin'? I may want to purchase it.

OneDay: Congrats on your decidion to try WW. It is one of the BEST plans I've ever followed for long term weight loss and maintenance. You and Nita will have to share their summer recipes as you receive them.

Mooz: WTG on walking... I read an article saying how important it is to eat carbohydrates most especially after exercise. :)

Bye for now... Have an OP day everyone...!

Catlover777 04-19-2004 11:44 PM

Good evening. Just a quick drop by. We had such a great poetry class tonight--hard to unwind.

Also got the proofs on my chap book. V. exciting!

Nita 04-20-2004 12:16 PM

HalGal,

I just started reading Passing for Thin and I haven't gotten too far. At this point she is only relating how she became overweight. I'll let you know if it is worthwhile getting!

May everyone have a "great" day!

Anita

1day@atime 04-20-2004 01:24 PM

Hello Ladies,
I forgot how much I dislike writing down everything I eat, but of course it what helps me stay on the program. Last night I even had points left, so I had a small snack.

Hal - oh, I'll definitely share any new recipes they hand out. In fact I have this month Ww magazine & I'll look through it & see what recipes they have in it. I too am trying on getting in a walking routine with Blackie & on days when I'm so tired, he so excited to see me cause he knows we go for a walk.. in fact he lays right by the leash. I sometimes hide it so then I don't feel guilty if we don't walk (isn't that terrible).

Cat - Glad you had a good meeting. How is your foot? I know you mentioned about getting a 2nd opinion.

Nita - Keep us informed on the book. I"m still trying to finish Dr Phil's.

Hope everyone is having a OP day!

Catlover777 04-20-2004 09:23 PM

I was doing so well today--then we had ice cream cake in honor of our 2nd anniversary of the project.

They brought it to our desks--unfair!! Darn, I should have dumped it in the trash.

I see the podiatrist tomorrow a.m.--maybe I will be able to walk better. One last try with this one, because I really like her and she has helped me before, but if she doesn't come up with something different I will go to someone else. The last couple of nights the pain in my foot has interfered with my sleeping.

I got my proof on my chap book (hooray!) and I think it looks good.

Have I mentioned that I am giving a showcase performance in KC on May 6 at the storytelling group? I decided to do a dress rehearsal so I can practice and also do it for my Lawrence friends, some of whom will not drive to KC at night.

It's exciting but scary.

Best to all--
Catlover

mooz49 04-21-2004 09:25 AM

Good day chickies - I am just in from work so this will be quick. The weather has been very wet here so I have not been walking much this week. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Gotta go get some food for the dinner and then some housework before the art session tonight.

Thoughts to reality

Imagine for a moment how it would be if every time you thought of something it would suddenly become real. If that were the case, upon what things would you focus your thoughts?
If you knew for certain that thinking would instantly make it so, how would that change the nature of your thoughts? Would you focus your thoughts on worry, frustration, anger and resentment, or would those thoughts be more directed toward the positive possibilities?

Of course, you know that your thoughts do not instantly create your reality. Yet those thoughts do indeed have a powerful influence on where your life leads. For your actions are certainly guided by your thoughts. And the actions you take do indeed have a major impact on your life and your world.

In fact, the thoughts with which you most consistently fill your mind do eventually become real. It just takes some time. So keep in mind what would happen if your thoughts were to suddenly become real. Because one day, they will be.

1day@atime 04-21-2004 01:37 PM

Hello Ladies,
Still staying OP, I just need to really work at the exercise though. I have been walking at lunch for about 25 minutes then again in the afternoon for about 20-25 minutes. I think once I get use to this, then I need to start focusing on doing something at home. Drinking water is still hard, but I keep my big water bottle with me & try to remind myself to drink....

Cat - I sure hope the podritrist can you. If it is waking you up at night, then I know that has got to be painful. Congrats on the book..Sounds like it is coming along well.

Mooz - We keep waiting for rain here, but it keeps missing us. Hope you get some good weather, so you can get back to walking.

Hal, Thin, Nita, Mitchellez, Chacha - Hope you all are doing well. Hope to hear from you soon......

Hey Everyone...

Remember when exercise was easy, effortless and most imporantly fun? I hope everyone takes a moment to 'go out and play' as often as possible. I believe it is instrumental to our success at weight loss and maintenance.

Night!

mooz49 04-22-2004 12:03 PM

Good evening chickies! Today the weather has picked up and the sun has been shining for most of the day. I have been doing housework, got a 2 mile walk in and I will be going linedancing later on so I am pleased with the exercise. Last night I gave in to chocolate and ate 3 small Kitkats before going to bed. I felt so guilty about it but then I read the following in Shad’s journal this morning and it made me feel so much better. ……….. “You do not fail by slipping up on a plan or idea. Failure comes when you don't get back out there and try it again.”

Halgal - you are so right about exercise and the good thing about it is the 'good feel factor' that it gives us.

Patty - well done for staying OP ............ the exercise will follow!

Catlover - a little bit of ice-cream will not do that much harm on it's own so put it behind you.

Nita - I have that book also but I have read very little of it ......... never seem to get the time ...........

Thin - hope you get to call in soon

Everyone else hoping to hear from you all soon too.

Annoyed no more

Life is too precious to spend it being annoyed. The sooner you move past being annoyed, the better each moment will be.
If you find something annoying and it's something you can change, then quickly take the necessary steps to make it better. Redirect the negative energy of your annoyance into making a useful and positive contribution to life.

When something annoys you that you cannot do anything about, let yourself rise above it. There's no point in wasting your time and energy being concerned with it.

You can choose to be annoyed by something, and you can just as easily choose not to let it get to you. Annoyance is nothing more than a reaction, one that is under your complete control.

When you become annoyed, it distracts you and can cast everything in a negative light. Once your annoyance has gotten your attention, there is no good reason for it to continue.

One way or another, quickly move whatever annoys you. Be free to focus on those good and valuable things that truly matter.

Nita 04-22-2004 07:56 PM

Hi All,
Another great day in Phoenix. I just got off the treadmill and yesterday I did two 30-minute sessions. Tonight is another weigh-in--and I have to say the pounds are coming off ever so slowly. It's probably because I am eating well and not starving.

My youngest daughter in PA had an emergency appendectomy surgery yesterday. I found out after the fact and I am happy it happened that way. That way I didn't have to worry about her. The surgery went well and she is hoping to go home tomorrow. It happens to be her son's 3rd birthday tomorrow. I am so happy I made final arrangements to go back home June 2nd.

Well I will let you all know how WW goes tonight.

Take care,
Anita
P.S. Tomorrow is my 4th session with the Chiro and he surely is doing well--the pain in my left arm is almost gone and the muscle on my shoulder blade is getting better as well.

thinlizzie 04-23-2004 01:27 PM

Hi Chicks~~ Just wanted to drop by and check in. The last of our "move" is today. The lady is flying out back to her family in Michigan today, so the place will be ours finally. She is such a nice lady, but she tells us this time around she thinks the cancer has won. She has cancer and has been battling it for many long years. This time i don't know what they can do, so she wants to go back to be by her family. She is an awesome lady--so strong and full of faith, wish you all could have met her. And if there is any chance for a miracle, i hope she has one. Lets all keep her in our prayers. I'd love to look her up next year and find out she has beat the odds.

Only have to move our essentials in, but the hard part will be organizing once we are there. I still am excited about it tho. And i will be going thru things seriously considering what can just stay year-round in AZ and not be brought back and forth any more.

~~NITA~~glad your chiro is getting you such great results! You keep on taking care of your arm tho! Yes, the pounds certainly do come off slowly for us "pro" dieters don't they?? LOL. I think i must know enough to do it but why don't i know enough to keep it off? Maybe this time i will achieve that.

~~MOOZ~~ way to go on all your exercise..walking n linedancing. How is your DM doing these days?
Thanks for the uplifitng quotes -- i needed them~

~~HALGAL~~~Thanks for the info on the Arbys salads. I think we still have one back home. I don't know in the valley but i'm sure they are somewhere~ this place is just too big. But once i'm home i will try to get in there and get one (or two!) they do sound delish.

And glad that Rocky is keeping you active. My dog did the same for me. YGG~

~~CATLOVER~~ Hope your foot starts to feel better after the doc appt.
WTG on the book. So proud of you. That's great that you have a story telling closer to home also. And like you said the ones who won't go to the city after dark might just make it to their home area to hear it. Good luck w/it!

Well chicks i must go now. Glad to hear all your good news and i will check in a few days again.

 :grouphug: thinlizzie

Nita 04-23-2004 02:03 PM

Good Morning Ladies,

Just came back from the Chiro and as usual, he did an excellent job. My arm is almost back to normal and that is really exciting.

I managed to lose another .6 of a pound yesterday. In 9 weeks I have lost 6-3/4 lbs. I still need to lose another 2 by next week. My Chiro gave me an experimental diet which is supposed to clean your body of all toxins. I haven't had a chance to look it over but it does restrict you from red meat, citrus, certain cereals, except rice. I will give you more particulars when I have had a chance to really look it over.

I just got a message from our TV station, Channel 12, and I got the volunteer position to work 4 hours a week taking calls from consumers and trying to help them solve their problems. I think this will be very interesting and am looking forward to doing it.

Well I had better go so I can call the lady back and let her know I will start on May 1st.

Take care and have a "super" day and weekend!
Anita

Hey Everyone...

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am finishing my university work. It is due next Tuesday.

More later... just a quick note from work!

mooz49 04-24-2004 10:07 AM

Good afternoon chickies - just a very quick call. I need a new computer as the one I use is behaving badly! It is quite old now and I cannot get on to the internet with it for some reason. I am using Paul's at the minute.
Eating and exercising are going well. I will probably not be able to report back until Monday at work.

Make room

There are times when it pays to be certain, to be decisive. Yet there are also times when certainty can hold you back.
When you're certain that you know all there is to know, it prevents you from exploring potentially valuable options. When you're certain of what does and does not work, you could fail to take advantage of useful and workable creative approaches.

It's important to be decisive and persistent when you are certain of the track you're on. It can be foolish, though, when you stubbornly stick to a position just to prop up your own ego.

When you can admit that you don't have all the answers, that makes you much more able to get the best answers. When you acknowledge that you don't know it all, it puts you in a position to learn much more.

Your experience is truly valuable and can be extremely useful. Even so, there are realities beyond your experience that can prove just as valuable, when you open yourself up to them.

No matter how much you've learned and experienced, there's always something valuable that you don't know about yet. Open your mind and make room for it.

RE: Good Saturday morning...

Just a quick hello back to MOOZ. I do understand about computer problems. It was well worth it to have my computer upgraded last month. The guy that did the work told me next time, update would be best by just purchasing a new one. The prices are low now.

I need to run to purchase an extra ink cartridge for my university papers. I usually try to keep a spare. I remember running out at 2A one morning, the morning the paper was due. NO need for undue stress.

CAT: How is your foot? This time last week I could barely walk. I am much better today. I used the hot parafin wax morning and night for the last week. I hope this finds you feeling much better.

THIN: I bet you lost weight packing and moving! What is your new place like? Will you contemplate another motor home? Got any new veggie recipes? I saw a good one on the new KRAFT page.

I made some baked scallops in lemon butter, and girls, girls, girls... whooo wheee those things were good. I later found myself thinking how good they would have been over some fresh linguine. I had no carbs, just fresh steamed asparagus (great this time of year) with lemon pepper. LOVE lemon, lemonaide and freshly brewed ice tea this time of year.

AS I digress... back to work. Rocky wants to play today...! We have been playing with a ducky I bought him as a baby pup. Oh well... back to work. Have a great movin and losin weekend everyone...!!!

Hello Ladies,
Saturday was my first 1st weight in and I"m happy to say I lost 3.6 lbs. I think the walking at work has really help. I'm going to try and do it again all this week. Of course I have also been watching my points & journaling. Yesterday I was busy cleaning out closets. I have got so much stuff I need to either have a garage sale or just donate it. I have clothes that I have not worn in over two years...

Thin - Ok.. I think i missed something. I knew you all were selling the motorhome, but have you all bought a new one? or you all staying with your in-laws? I remember you saying you all were driving back home in the truck.

Hal - you know your right. Just getting outside & having fun, that in it own way is exercise. I see the kids in the neighborhood outside playing ball & sometimes I want to go and and play with them. Your receipe sounds good.

Nita - WTG on your loss... You are doing great. Glad to hear your daughter is doing well.

Mooz - Glad you were able to get out and walk. My computer is so old too. I have been thinking about getting a faster line, but don't want to spend the money.

Hey Movers and Losers...

Just a quick good night and wishing everyone a great OP week.

OneDay: I don't think Thin said they were going to purchase a new motor home - I was just asking if they were thinking of it. WTG on 3.6 pounds off. YOU GO GIRL...!!! :bravo:

I worked on my paper(s), cleaned, did laundry and napped. I still have more of each to do. What a life, huh? ;)

Good morning ladies,

I can only type a short note because I had an accident on Saturday afternoon trying to open up the bottom of an electric toothbrush with a table knife which had a serated edge. You guessed correctly, the knife slipped and landed on my left hand right below my index finger. It was necessary to go to Urgent Care for stitches. This also cancelled out all my bowling for probably two to three weeks. My hand is still swollen and hurts if I try and do anything with it. I go back tomorrow to see the doctor. I am hoping by Thursday I will be able to do my job. As I am typing this note, it aches quite a bit. I didn't, however, keep me from doing the treadmill. I just hopes the swelling goes down because I am sure it will quit hurting so much!

Take care, ladies,
Anita

Hello Ladies,
Had a great day today, got in two walks today & i'm planning on walking the dog tonight. Not sure what' i'm having for dinner though.. Need to look at my points.

Nita - So sorry to hear about your accident. I'm sure that is very painful. Wishing you a speedy recover so you can get back to bowling. WTG for getting on the treadmill though.

Hope everyone is having a great day...

Hi Chicks~~ Using the computer at my MIL's so i can post a quick note to you all. Things are going good, but i am very busy. Plus our brakes decided to really get bad 3 days from when we have to leave for Denver. Good thing his mom has 2 cars! So we can borrow one while our truck is in the Ford shop for new brakes or whatever they can do for them! And fast!!

We purchased a new utility trailer today for towing our big Harley motorcycle home. They didn't have the ramp to drive it up onto the trailer so we have to wait at least one more day for that too! BUT we did go to the DMV and get our plates and all that stuff straightened away.

what we are doing now for those who asked is living in a permanent spot. It's like a travel trailer, but with 'bump outs' in two spots, so it's kinda like a very old park model trailer. On the title it says 'manufactured home' but not like the kind i think of when i think manuf.home. It's only wider in those two spots where the walls push out. It makes it alot roomier than what we had tho.
It's still not on land we own,(we don't want to buy down here in the valley---maybe Payson area tho! We miss our trees and they have trees) so we pay some 'rent' to park it there, tho it would be kinda hard to just up and move those kind of trailers  They do have a pool and spa and shuffleboard at this park.

~~NITA~~ get well soon! sorry to hear of your accident. I have that kind of luck too. Take care, and keep walking on that treadmill :) YGG

I don't know if i've lost a pound yet, but you'd think i would the way i've been running myself ragged. One day i went on very little food and because i was so busy i did not even get hungry.

Hi to all the rest. Must go now. I miss being able to get online via the antenna at the last park. I have this Wireless capability with my new laptop, but now i don't know just when it will be useful to me again! That is life i guess.

Take care chicks~~ :grouphug: thinlizzie

Hello Ladies,

Just got back from my lunch walk. Getting ready to eat my lunch. A few ladies & I have been walking the downtown area. There so many things that I did not know where here, so we're taking the time to look at things at the same time getting our walking in.

Need some food ideas? I have been eating yellow squash & zucinnie (sp), but have been cooking them in the forman grill. Does anyone have any lowfat cooking ideas on how else to cook them?

Thin - Where are you going to in Denver? Is this just a short trip? Now I remember you telling me about this trailer. When do you all head for home?
Wish you all could take a trip here to Texas, but I know that is a little to far.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi there ladies - just a quick post from work as I cannot get on the net at home. I should be getting a new computer sometime hopefully soon!
Eating is going quite well but could be a lot better - same old story!!
Exercise has not been good this week so far but hopefully tomorrow I will get walking.

1day@atime 04-28-2004 01:41 PM

Hello Ladies,

Just came back from lunch... as we were walking yesterday came across a new restaurant that just opened up..Went their today, had a real big salad...
Plans are to walk this afternoon & I think this evening I'm going to get a Ta-Bo tape out. I need to start adding something.

Mooz - Hopefully you be able to get your walking in today.

Hope everyone is having a great day! Hope to hear from you all soon!

Nita 04-28-2004 06:08 PM

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a "great" day! My hand is taking longer to heal than I anticipated. I have already missed four days of bowling. A couple of the stitches have come out so I have decided to take the other two out as well instead of going back to Urgent Care. Most of the pain is gone but it still looks rather gross! Whatever you ladies do, don't make the mistake I did and try to open something with any kind of knife!

I have been trying to stay on my program but am finding it hard because I can't really do anything around the house like I would like to do. Perhaps we all need a little down time to just give ourselves a much-needed rest. I do, however, plan on going to the office tomorrow. Luckily computers are so much easier to use than the old typewriters where you had to really pound hard to make them go.

Take care everyone, and it sure is wonderful to have so many friends on the internet!

Anita

RE: Just Between Us...!

Happy HumpDay Everyone!

Well... I have 'most' of my university work turned in. What a relief. I have one project to finish up. I was ALL ready to take an incomplete grade and take the next month to finish, and my professors decides he can take work until this Friday. I'm not sure I'll have time to get it finished, but it is a thought. Only 4 weeks of teaching left, but on my gosh what a schedule. IF you only knew. So many last minute, got to have it now requests for assistance and help to set up programs. It is nice to be respected and ask for assistance, but hard on my ablility to 'get it all finished'.

Dieting is going very, as in very well. I honestly feel better now that I am back really watching my food intake. I am still doing the low carb diet - consuming whole grains foods, and a few fruits and more veggies. I think it is the healthiest way to eat - and plan to keep the weight off. I don't know if I mention it or not, but both teachers in my builiding that lost 60 and 70 pounds respectively in the last year have regained all of their weight back. One teacher gained more back. Low carb is easy to lose, and easier to gain back if you change your eating plan. One thing to think about.

CAT: How is your foot? I know pain is an awful thing to have to live with. I had a student get a third degree steam burn in a cooking lab last week. Lifting the lid from steaming brocolli (yes, high school students steaming brocolli in a steaming basket!!!!) the steam caught her, and she panicked and flipped the lid and the water hit her little finger - and wah-la. Her hand is wrapped up for 9 days. She says it is itching, and peeling.

THIN: Always good to hear from you. I purchased a red pepper tonight. I am demonstrating rolling out pizza dough tomorrow (we made the yeast dough today) and I am putting healthy items on my demo pizza. More and more of the students are getting brave and trying my healhty demo foods. Neat! Red pepper will always remind me of you and your fabulous cooking!

MOOZ: Ahhh.... computer problems. When they arrive there is just no getting around them, huh? I am very happy with my upgrade on my home computer. I spent just over $200 for everything - I added a memory card, windows XP, a CD writer and a cable modem. When he installed the XP he reformatted the entire system - and oh not to forget an update on my virus protection. I've had this computer about 5 years and I bought a mid range one back then, which is a puppy size (speed and size) now. It is fine for me as I mostly use it for university work and writing to you! ;)

NITA: Have you gotten any further on the book? Don't ask me why, I am really interested in this book????? I know I should just buy it and let you alone! May your hand continue to heal, and you be bowling very soon. I use to bowl every Saturday morning on a league... it was FUN.

OneDay: George Foreman grills rule. I am on my second one. I actually wore one out! I love to grill any type of fish. I usually squeeze fresh lime or lemon over the fish as I take it off. Veggie burgers are even good on the GForeman grill. I've grilled summer sausage, bacon (cut the strips in half since I have a small one). You could grill portabella mushrooms with a nice marinaade on them - yum! Grill the portabellas, then stuff them with a cream cheese, gorganzalla cheese, onion and spice mixture - bake for 15 minutes at 350. Very good stuff.

OK... I am off to iron my clothes for tomorrow and hit the hay! Happy Hump day everyone... good to hear from everyone!!!!

Just a quick check in. The powers that be at work decided we all need to work an hour of OT each day for the rest of the month. Now as a security guard I often worked far more OT than that, but nevertheless feeling sorry for self anyway. This is such a busy week . . .

The podiatrist gave me a cortisone shot, and we also discussed what to do if it doesn't work. But today my foot does feel better.

Nita--sorry about your hand. I did the same thing once--slicing cheese--and cut it in such a way that they could not stitch it, so I had to spend hours in the ER while trying to get it to clot. The nurse ordered me to stick to sliced cheese from now on
:-).

Mooz--what kind of computer are you thinking about?

Sorry--too tired to say hi to everyone, and I must get to bed & get up early, both to work the extra hour and to leave a little early to be at our Concert of the Arts for Peace--hopefully even have dinner first.

Oh--I got such a nice note from the priest who was my college chaplain--back in the early pleistocene when I was an undergraduate. (Another old friend put us in touch). I was pleased that he remembered me and DH, and also to hear that he is doing well, tho thinking of retirement. (Odd, of course, because in my imagination he is still 25!)

Best to all--

Catlover

Hi Chicks~~ I'm spending my last night in AZ at my MIL's. We are packed up and ready to roll in the morning. But the weather in Colorado does not sound so good as last May. It was gorgeous and near 80 last year when we got there, now they are still calling for snow!
Say a prayer that we have safe travels thru those mountains.
We can stay up to 1 week at our condo once we get there, but if weather won't cooperate, we may spend more time south of there and just get less time at the condo. Hope it all works out.

The eating is sounding good there HALGAL~~ YGG. Keep up the good work. I am dearly going to miss the deals on those red bell peppers, but at least a few times during the summer they are 'on sale' by us. ONLY $1.49 a # ! What deals. :p MIL just got 4 of them for a buck at the ranch market today.

~~NITA~~ you take care to soak that hand and hold off a little longer on your bowling ok? You can catch up later on once healed.

~~CAT~~ hope the OT at work goes by fast.

~~1DAY~~ sounds like you are doing great on the foods, and adding diff. exercises to your plan too! YGG~~ Keep it up.

~~MOOZ~~ hope your computer gets fixed or you can get a new one soon.

Miss ya'll........talk ASAP --at the most it will be about 1 1/2 weeks now till i am home.. Know i will be thinking of you all.

 HUGs :grouphug: thinlizzie
