good morning chickies!!
TGIF this was not a long week but i am always glad to see the weekend!! not a whole lot going on with me today, yesterday was a good day as far as food goes. i stuck to my guns and didn't snack like a crazy woman. had a bad sinus headache tho so i did not get my exercise in so it is a top priority today!!! short day at work and then errands to do after work. going out to our camper for the weekend to start cleaning it up for winter. thats about it for me. hevron you sound so upbeat and positive today a real inspiration to me (the girl who could of stayed in bed all day today!!!) hope you have a great weekend. soposh welcome!!! hop right in you'll love it here!! annie the new do sounds great, getting my hair done always makes me feel great!! have a good day!!! to all you chicks yet to post hello and have a nice weekend!! |
Mornin" chicks.
I would like to report that I am NOT dizzy!!! I ate like a litle piggy yesterday. I caved to the comfort food. Today is a new day and I WILL eat balanced and healthy meals. I am having MIL issues and need to vent before I let it eat at me.Lets just say that this is typical of the last 8 years. The worst was around our wedding and I have learned to let most of it roll off but it still irks me. It started with my daughters bday. I invited all the family for sunday, she says she had decided to come the tues before. So I have them for dinner etc.Extra work for me but who's counting. She announces she is cancelling Thanksgiving.Just doesn't feel like doing it. Hubby was upset(very sentimental). Geographically we live in the middle he asked if I minded cooking another turkey. We are already having my family on the Monday(Oct 11).Of course not!!! Family is very important to us. SO I invite his 2 sibs and folks for the Sat(Oct 9).I hear from 1 brother and crew(very excited).I dont hear from the other bro or the folks. Hubby calls them last night. MIL states, I cancelled Thanksgiving.Hubby says we all want to see each other .So anyhow ,she says she supposes they will come. BAH! Now, what happens is that she will tell anyone who listens how I am a control freak and ruin everything, blah, blah blah......I made it very clear this was hubby's wish. But I am always the trouble maker. The other bro's wife think no one likes her(totally not true) so they may not come. Double BAH! MIL will be snarky, want to change meal times, complain about the food........ We all just ignore her but she can be very hurtful.Hubby didn't like her tone with him last night. Frankly, I dont need the aggravation.I adore the bro's, wives and all the nieces and nephews and my FIL. She just sucks. Insecure, small minded...... had a good heart in some ways but you sure have to kiss butt in thanks. Okay, I'm done. SUZI~ I firmly believe in eating foods in their most natural, least processed state. I only eat whole grains.I aim for lots of uncooked fruit and veg too. SOPOSH~ welcome. Our weight and goals are the same so we are neck and neck in this race! HEVRON~ I always eat breaky and I have 2 oz lean protein,I startchy carb,I dairy and fruit. So that looks like, 1 egg,I toast(whole grain,no butter), apple, milk.Or chicken breast in a wrap, apeach, yogurt. I blow it as the day goes, usually evening. Hugs to everyone else. My goal for today is to do the 2 mile WATP and not to over eat or binge!! |
TGIF for sure!!! and Good Morning!
I have not done as well as I would of liked to this week. I got on the scales a day early this morning. Was up 1 lb. Um...be doing good to stay the same at WI tomorrow. Had left over taco salad for dinner last night and YES WITH THE DANG CHIPS!! Thank You Jesus that is ALL GONE. My son was none too happy to be eating it a second night in a row anyway. haha... I am determined to make this day excellent. I will do this, I will, I will, I will. Heather - Actually, I am VERY familiar with that side of town. I graduated from JMHS, when it was a high school in 1978. My parents still live at 21st and Franklin Road. What a small world. Welcome to the group - SOPOSH Jodi - Sounds like you had a OP day yesterday, that is great. Hey there and Hello to everyone else. Have a marvelous weekend, stay focused and I will chat at cha on Monday!!! Annie |
Ladies,
I can't believe this is the first chance that I've had to get here all day! It's been very busy with me at work. Nothing balanced, the wrong supplies were shipped, and the phone never quit ringing! Hubby is taking me out to dinner tonight and then we are just going to watch some TV. I don't ever get to watch much TV, but I watch a few shows, one is "Less than Perfect" and I'm going to relax and watch it. I had a loss at TOPS meeting last night. That gave me a total loss of 1.50 lbs for the month. I'll take it! Anything that's a loss I'll take. I'm excited about the new month...I always am..feels like a fresh start! It's really feeling like fall here in Ohio and it's been so pretty; it just makes a person feel good. I apoligize for not responding to each of your personally. I'll try to do that sometime tomorrow, but it's 5:00, and I just want to get out of this building! I have a computer at home, but I'm going to spend some time with hubby. I haven't even had time to think about a goal today, so I'll make it now. My goal tonight is to not overeat when we go to Max and Erma's. Thanks for understanding! |
I'm here too!
Sorry for my tardiness here gals! I had the day of H E double toothpicks. I get my paychecks direct deposited and they only deposited half the check. ARRRRRRRGGGG! I had to run to the main office to pick up the other half (only a 75 mile commute one way) UGH :dizzy: The funny thing is that after I deposited it, I realized that the new check wasn't correct either :fr:
Oh well, at least the new check was only off by about $10 or so. They can add that to my next check. When I have days like today, I become convinced that I'm related to Murphy (VERY close relative ;) ), but there is a silver lining...... Because I was so busy running to get my check and get it deposited before 1:00 p.m., I had no time to think about food. I did stop at BK Lounge for a bunless cheeseburger on the way home, but that's all I had eaten for the day and that was around 2:30 p.m. So maybe, if I don't get ravenous tonight, I will be able to see some movement on the scale tomorrow. Hevron, thanks for the tip on the flavored water, I'll have to try some. Annie, all I can say is "been there, done that, bought the t-shirt"! Hang in there. I try to use my disgust from prior days to keep me motivated the next. As a friend of mine once said, "let the anger motivate you instead of beat you up." Hollyhock, are we in-laws? Your MIL sounds eerily familiar :D Hope you all have a great and on track weekend. Nan |
Hello,
The board sure gets slow over the weekend. That's understandable; people have so much to do over the weekend. I've had a very busy day. I cleaned house this morning. My tutor for Accounting came over and worked with me on homework for 2 hours. She said it went a lot easier than it did 2 weeks ago, and she thinks I'm doing much better--that's sure nice to hear. It's a little more understandable for me, but it sure takes me a long time! I went on a walk after the homework session. It was nice to get out and just clear my head. I have grocery's to go buy here in a little while. I'm also trying to get my closets switched over from spring/summer to fall/winter. Just working on it a bit at a time. That's my goal for the day: To continue to work a little more on the closets and to look through my new Fitness mag. I find it very motivating. I hope everyone else is doing well and on plan. Enjoy the day! |
Evenin'
I was at the fair last night for 5 hours with the kids to go on unlimited rides!! Today we looked at exhibits and my son Mutton Busted( sheep riding, kin to bull riding). He came in 3rd out of 22, lasted 4.6 seconds. He is a beaming little boy!! I picked up a roasted chicken this aft, so all I had to whip up was veggies. I have my friends 2 year old here for the night. Can you say ,sweety!? If we hadn't stopped at 2 our 3rd would be this age right now. I am lovin' it. I am super tired. I have lots of housework to do.I want to veg in front of the tube. I have gotten lots of walking in at the fair. I only had 1 bite of a pogo dog and couple of fries. Not too bad. Susie~sounds like you had a nice productive day. Great work on the accounting. Hope everyone is on plan and having fun! |
I'm back...again...
Hello everyone...do you mind if I pop in? Yes, it's me, Girlie...the one who started this thread AGES ago! I have been getting all the replies to this thread and it's so embarassing because I fell off the wagon months ago. For some reason, the summer makes me want to go inside and hide.
Now that Fall is here, I want to get back on the wagon. I started a Healthy Heart class a couple of weeks ago, just to help myself learn about healthy habits. Now I have to start getting the activity in again. In one month, it will be 1 year wedding anniversary and I'll be darned if I get back to that weight. I had lost some weight earlier in the year...I think it's in my signature but I don't know what that says. I weighed at the gym a couple weeks ago and was around 233 or so. I have gained back at least ten pounds. It's SO hard. Seems like you guys have a good thing going...do you mind if I start up again? For now, I'm going to head to the gym and I'll update later in the weekend. I think I've hit that low point that we sometimes hit when we fall off the wagon...like it's now or never...so please bear with me. I just can't help but think of how I'd be to ONEderland, well below it, if I'd just kept up and not slacked over the summer. So here's to another try. Hope you guys take me back. :) |
Back again.
Hi I'm back. I just got back from the gym. I feel pretty good. I didn't try to do a ton of stuff...just starting by making sure I get at least 45 minutes of cardio in, whether it's walking or riding or elliptical.
I got a good 25 minutes in on the stationary bike and 20 minutes on the elliptical, then stretching. I always feel like I'm doing nothing...but I am. I tend to look at all the other women, some who do an hour of one thing then move onto the next. They are just in a different stage than I am. I'm going to try not to look at them from now on and just make sure I get in my 45 minutes a few times a week. A couple of years ago I used to do an hour on the elliptical machine 4-5 days a week but it would take quite a while for me to get back to that. I think what I did was good. I also weighed myself...*yikes*...and I did gain 10 pounds of what I lost, so I updated my signature accordingly. A new start. No thinking about what I *should* have done but what I will do. Hope all of you are well and getting in some activity this lovely weekend. Tomorrow I plan to go back to the gym. I would also like to do my Walk Away the Pounds 3 mile (45 minute) walk a couple of times this week. I really like it. Girlie |
good morning everyone,
i am up at 7am on a sunday morning whats up with that?? oh well lots to get done today so might as well get an early start. this was a good weekend so far. my eating was not perfect but darn close so i am happy with that. i also did alot of walking yesterday, and i can finally see a difference in the way i see myself in the mirror. i stayed the same as far as my weigh in for the week went, but then again, i didn't have the greatest week. so i'll take the no gain as a gift this week and get my butt back in gear!! girlie hello!! welcome back to your wonderful thread!! sounds like you are off to a great start. your attitude is great don't look back at what might of been but forward to will you will be! hollyhock congrats to your little mutton buster!! sounds like you had a fun weekend! so glad you are feeling better. mychoice2bfit congrats on the accounting, i'm sure it is a good feeling. and great job on the loss. keep up the good work!!! labchick glad you got the check thing straightened out nothing worse than going into the weekend with no green!! annie hope your weigh in went well, hang in there!! to anyone i missed have a great day!! my goal for today is to get all of my meals planned for the week, and then do something nice for myself when i am done. |
Mornin',
The boys are at hockey already??!! It is a cold wet morning here.I kinda enjoy it.I have a TON of housework to do and church and then more housework. I feel slimmer. I haven't been on the scale though. Even though I was sick I did WATP 4 days. I ate a lot on 2 days. I did NOT eat before bed last night!! I am feeling pretty good today. The bug is in my chest now but it is not bad. My daughter is super whiny, arg. My goal for today is 2 eat only 2 starchy carbs ALL DAY and get my house cleaned. I need to get my head around Thanksgiving next weekend. I am having 19 of hubby's family on Sat and 9 of mine on Mon. I am cooking 2 turkeys. Both families will bring stuff. It will be festive to say the least. |
PS
WELCOME HOME GIRLIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jodi~glad to hear you are feelin' great!! Hope you do something super wonderful for yourself!! Everyone have a glorious Sunday!!! |
Happy Sunday
Hello Everyone.
A lovely Sunday. My weekends are always screwed up. We didn't go to bed until around 3am after reading in bed a bit. We woke up around noon and I had a bowl of cream of wheat and a cup of hot chai. :coffee: I'll be heading to the gym around 2pm. I've got a half hour to get some reading in as we listen to Scottish music. I should do some housework! I hope my husband does the dishes! I will make Sundays my weigh-in day. I guess I'll weigh in again today and make it my official weight, and go each Sunday from now on. I wonder since it's the beginning of a new month, should I give myself an October Challenge? Right now, I just want to get back to 225 and OUT of the 230's. Is 8 pounds in a month okay? I think it's okay for this month...the first month I tend to lose all the water and stuff quicker. OK...so there's my challenge. That means no darn Halloween candy! Tonite my husband wants to take his mom out for dinner...probably to a buffet. Wish me luck! At least I can get all my veggies in. My goal for my Healthy Heart group is to be sure to get in my 4 veggies a day. That would be no problem at a buffet. Good day to you all. |
Good afternoon everyone,
It's nice to see you all here! I've had a pretty good day. We went to church, then we watched "13 going on 30"--very cute movie! We are headed over to some friends house here in a little bit to have dinner and watch a movie. I got all the sleeveless and bright color summer shirts, shorts and capris put away, along with all the sandels. I found my fall/winter shoes and brought them up from the basement. Next weekend, I'll have DH bring up the tubs that have the heavier sweaters and things. I'll go through them and also try to go through the dress clothes that are two big for me. I'm going to take those to the consigment shop. I also planned to go to the Y today for a workout, but decided that I had done enough and I wanted my computer time today and I couldn't do both, so you see which one won! Girlie: Welcome home! You sound so ready to begin again. We all need to go through those times where we need to find our way back; glad you found your way again. Holly: The fair sounded like a fun time. You did very well with the food choices also! Jodi: It's ok to stay the same some weeks. It gives our bodies a chance to catch up with what we have been doing. Isn't it great to look in the mirror and see the difference? You can't help but smile at yourself! Labchick: It sounds like you had a hetic day on Friday. Hopefully your weekend was a little slower pace. Well ladies, I need to do up some dishes and things so that when we get home tonight from our friends we can just go to bed. Remember to be thinking of those daily goals and Girlie had a great idea of setting a challenge for the month. I think I'll think of one myself. See you all tomorrow! |
And a good Monday to you...
Hi everyone! My home computer doesn't run this web site very well, so I don't usually check in on the weekends. We are off and running on a fabulous Monday.
MyChoice - Congrats on the 1.5 lbs for the month! Also, good job on getting the summer clothes put up. I thought about getting out my fall decorations all weekend, but never got around to it. I have some on my porch - some pumpkins and a scarecrow. Better get that stuff out or it will be Christmas before I know it! Girlie - Good to have you back. Thanks for the reminder on Halloween candy. This is going to be a difficult month for us chocolate lovers! Holly - How could you go to a fair and keep away from all the yummy stuff they have? GREAT JOB! I don't know if I could've done it. (Sorry to hear about the MIL problems; hope things are looking up.) Annie - Get out of here! Your parents are at 21st & Franklin here in Indy? I know exactly where that's at. You're right...it's a very small world. Do you get to visit much? And where are you located? Soposh - How's it going? Are you hanging in there? Keep us posted! Have a great week, ladies... |
I am rededicating myself to this weight thing today!!!!! I have been lazy with food.
It will be another busy week since I am having both families here on the weekend for Thanksgiving.I just ordered 2 turkeys.I do LOVE this holiday and time of year.People bring sidedishes. I will bake ahead and freeze desserts. The house is pretty tidy.I will clean with hubby's help Friday evening.I am moderately busy with babysitting. These kids are angels anyhow. I will not overeat, I will not eat when I am not hungry, I will not eat to reward myself, I will not eat because I am bored,I will WATP right now!!!! I will check in later, Have a glorious day! |
Happy Monday
It's a very groggy Monday for me...but I'm here. I planned to go to the gym at 5am...but hey...that's really early for me! DH woke me up at 12.30a so I could proofread a paper of his (he's working on his Master's degree in History) and I couldn't get back to sleep! Darn DH! When my alarm went off at 5am....there was NO way I was gonna get up. So I'll have to settle for going this evening. I really tried though! I had a cheese stick and two slices of toast for breakfast and I have a pear for mid morning, and my sugar free iced tea. I bring a gallon to work and put it in the fridge so it's there and I won't run to the diet sodas. Trying to stay away from anything carbonated. I did last month and the "time of the month" was totally mild, hardly any bloating or cramps. So I'm going to limit myself to maybe one diet soda a week.
I went to the Chinese buffet last night...pigged out. I did try to eat more fruits and veggies and meats and I managed to stay away from much that was fried or any rice but I still overate. Other than that, I had a pack of cream of wheat yesterday and that's it. Hope it wasn't too bad. Susie: Wow, you guys are organized. I have my whole wardrobe in my closet right now. I tend to wear most of the same stuff all year anyway...trousers and shirts and cardigans. I'm always cold inside at work. When I'm at home, I'm wearing sweats or pajamas. Hevron: Thanks for the welcome. I am SO glad to be back. The Halloween candy will be hard. It's everywhere! The receptionist here at work has a bowl of candy on her desk and I see it every time I walk in and out the door. I will not forbid myself to it...maybe one snack size piece a day to keep me sane. They now have Quaker chewy oatmeal bars in a snack size for halloween and that's what she has in the bowl, so I will opt for those rather than the Kit Kat's or Reeses'! Jodi: Hope the rest of your weekend was nice and hope this week you have your loss :) Holly: Good for you in rededicating yourself. We can do it together :) So are any of you following a plan like Weight Watchers, etc? I used to do WW, but fell out. I always tend to keep fiber and the points in mind when I eat. Right now, I'm just trying to make healthy choices. Girlie |
Mornin'
My 3 year old and I spent some of the morning cuddling in bed and reading stories. It serves two purposes for me: it kindles a love for reading in my son and it keeps me away from the kitchen--both good things!
Girlie - if you are always cold, it may be a sign of an underactive thyroid and that can definitely interfere with your weight loss (just a thought). Hevron - Halloween is my least favorite holiday because of all the candy. Thankfully, I have only one trick or treater and my hubby and oldest son help him with the candy with a great deal of efficiency  Holly - hats off to you! I think I would collapse in a panic if I had to serve that many people at one time. MyChoice - WTG on the loss! Jody - Do you use those lipolysis sticks you can get for the Atkins Diet? The will see a positive regardless of type of diet you are on. I use them as a motivator. If there's no movement on the scales, but I'm still in ketosis, I know it's just around the corner. (something to consider) Hope you all have a great week! Nan |
I am so totally on track so far today!! I am not hungry all. Portions have been great. I did the WATP.I have baked for the weekend, took kids to storytime,I will put some down for a nap and then clear the canning stuff off of my diningroom table and clean the diningroom.I will NOT munch at 3pm, I will eat a no carb dinner, I wil NOT eat before bed. I want to weigh 190 and look like the woman my hubby fell in love with.I loved me tons then too. I rocked in every conceivable way!!!

undefinedundefined :coffee:
Happy Monday to All! This week is already moving as fast as ever!! My WI, well....dang it. 250.1, doesn't that just suck. So now I am more dedicated than ever to get back to 249.1, back to the 40's. I did, however, walk Friday and Saturday for 30 minutes each, and just got back from a 20 minute walk on my lunch 1/2 hour. Saved the last 10 minutes to get broccoli and cauliflower from the cafe. It tasted really good. That is the only thing I have had today, as have been so busy here at work. MY GOAL TODAY: Not to finish the remainder of anything leftover from meals. I made a lf version of chicken tetrazinni with whole wheat pasta for dinner last night. There was about 4 Tablespoons left in the pan, and of course I scarfed them. Didn't want to waste good food, (a carry over from childhood), so now the food went to WAIST. I will not do that again. (mostly cause it is all gone now) haha. I have 15 lbs to lose this month, to make my halloween goal. I better kick b&tt, and do this! I feel good about starting this month out on a good note. After eating nuts on SB for a month, I just remembered that I am not supposed to eat too many nuts as they are one cause of kidney stones. I do NOT care to go through that ever again, worse than having a baby. What a nightmare, so I have vowed off the nuts, hope it's not too late. Geez I am babbling today. I want skinny so bad, so this frame of mind needs to carry me through. Holly - Glad to hear you are feeling much better this week. WOWSER girl, you did your tape 4 times last week while sick. You are my hero!! Awesome! Glad to hear you are "re-focused" and ready to roar. Shu wee, I'd better get my b*tt in gear for our challenge. Don't want to be left behind. Susie - I knew you could get this accounting thing. You are awesome and determined. Positive thinking will carry you through. I have NO doubt. Girlie - Welcome Back! What a great thread, and sounds like you are headed in the right direction, don't look back! Congrats on finding your way again. Jodi - Great job on the walking. Keep up the good work!! Heather - Yes, indeed, I go to my parent's house about once a week. Not on any regular day, but once a week. I live 10 miles west of Plainfield on US 40. It is a Clayton address, but not in Clayton, by any means. I work downtown Indy at Lilly. We should meet up sometime. Ladies, let's get fired up and do this, I am wanting so badly, I can taste it, no pun intended. Let's keep each other jazzed!! Stay focused. Annie |
Hello All,
I hate it when I don't get here earlier in the mornings. I like to get here early because I feel that it sets me up for a good day of staying on plan and focused. I just got back from lunch. I went out with one of my girlfriends. I usually bring my lunch; I'm usually doing homework, but since I got it all done over the weekend, I allowed myself to go with my friend. I thought about having some pumpkin pie after I ate (and I was full) just because I was out..you know the thinking right? you have done this right?..but I didn't because I didn't want to have to say I did and I didn't want to write it in my Journal. I've been using that journal once a week and I can't tell you how many times I've stayed on track because of it. My goal today was to find an attachment for the cable machine at the Y. The one that they had for the ankle was gone and I need one so I can work my hamstrings. I can't lie on my stomach and use the regular hamstring curl machine--due to my IC...my bladder doesn't like any pressure on it!--but I saw a way to do them using the cable machine. So, I found one and it's only eight dollars; I think I'll just go ahead and buy it and I'll keep it in my gym bag. I'm going to tell them at the Y about it and where I found it and see if they want to buy one also, if they do great and if not, then I'll just get my own. I've reached that goal..now my goal is to use it! I'm skipping my workout tonight. It's Chick Nite at the movies and I'm going to see "First Daughter" usually I won't give up a workout, but I'm feeling a little "blah" and I'm allowing myself to be "off" tonight...I better enjoy it, because no matter how I feel tomorrow..I'm "ON"! Annie: When I first got in the 240's I also had a week that I went back to 250...let's just say if you use it for motivation you sure won't stay there long, I told myself there was no way I was going up any more in weight..I had finally gotten under 250 and that was a huge thing for me. I know you can get back under it this week! ((((Huggggsss))) Lanita: We always miss someone when they have been gone. Great to see you back! LabChick: What a nice way to spend your morning! Girlie: I don't drink anything soda or tea--due to a medical condition--after you get used to it, it's not that bad and I lost 15 lbs right off the bat when I gave all that up. Holly: Good for you on the rededication. I think we all need to do that every once in awhile. Hevron: Nice to see you on board. I don't always make it here on the weekends eithier--I have dial up at home, I'm too cheap to get the other  so when I log on I know it's going to be a task and take some time. It's much easier for me to get here during the work week. Speaking of work, I better get back to it. |
Hi again. I didn't get on the board this past weekend. Did a lot of errand-running. I did OK with portion control until last night. My favorite thing is a dish of Dreyer's Grand Light French Silk, a glob of peanut butter and Lite chocolate syrup and instead of a little of each, I had a LOT of each. Today is another day.
I like what some others said about the first of the month being a new beginning. I pledge to get back to journaling my meals and exercise. Tonight is yoga - sometimes I feel like that's not doing anything until we come out of a pose and my muscles have that tingly sensation. Thanks for the welcomes. I like reading the posts because I can so relate to a lot. Desiree, Colorado |
hello everyone,
not much chance to check in from work today, i just hate mondays!! not a bad day today though. i am still on a little hight from yesterday. i decided to go to the store and buy some new jeans since i had been wearing the same ones since before i lost any weight (yes they were hanging on me) and i fit into a size 18 zipper front, i couldn't believe it, i did not realize i had lost so many sizes. the pants i was wearing were a 26 stretchy leggin type jean. i was so excited i bought the jeans and 2 new tops to go with them. so needless to say i woke today in a good mood and i don't want to "scrap the diet thing" for a change. callachor- have fun at yoga class, you can do this!! a new month, a new week, whatever it takes to get your fresh start!! mychoice2bfit- great job passing on the pie (pumpkin is my fave) and also on reaching your daily goal today!! keep up the great work! i saw the movie "13 going on 30" a few weeks ago it was really cute. annie great attitude!! you'll get back to the 40's keep up your great work. i am of the same mindset re leftovers. i hate to waste anything. if i find i can't throw it away i stick it in a small freezer container and save it for lunch down the road. somehow having to defrost it etc makes it loose it's appeal. someday i may need to get an additional freezer for all the little gladware containers full of sidedishes i am holding on to though :lol3: lanita81 congrats on the loss :bravo: welcome back we missed you. hollyhock you are doing awesome keep up the great work!! labchick- do all diets make you go into ketosis? no i have never tried the sticks. good for you grabbing a little snuggle time this morning. girlie- i'm following (loosely) the readers digest diet change one. it is mainly portion control and watching cals. i've never done ww but i did follow south beach for a while. healthy choices is a great step forward! hi hevron have a great day!! well to anyone i missed hope you are doing well. have a nice evening everyone!! |
Jody, I work in a medical lab part time, so I'm no doctor, but when I was in school (eon's ago :o ) the nursing students were all expected to "be the picture of health" which was exacted by what size uniform they could wear. Every week the overweight ones had to turn in a urine sample to check for ketones (which what the lipolysis sticks are measuring), and man were they relieved when it was positive. They were on all sorts of diets, so I do not believe that it's "an Atkins only" kind of thing. Watching them worry so much, made me oh so glad I was not in the nursing program--I've never been rail thin. :dizzy:
Ketones are usually considered a sign of dehydration in patients who are ill, but they are basically a result of metabolizing our own fat. The rule of thumb for losing weight (from what I've read) is that it doesn't matter what shade of pink the stick is, as long as it's pink. I happen to be on Atkins because it's working for me, but I know it's definitely not for everyone. Hope that helps a bit, Nan |
Back Again
Good Morning Ladies,
I have been missing foir a few days. Very busy time at work right now. As for sticking to plan I am trying still to be and act normal. I use the word normal just as a frame of reference for what is reasonable. All I have to say is "Eat Good=Feel Good... Eat Bad=Feel Bad". I am so happy to see everyone here and so many posts. I really missed reading every morning. It makes a difference in how your day goes. It is such a motivator to come here first thing and start the day off right. I am also glad to hear everyone hanging in there and doing great. Welcome and Welcome Back to the new and returning. You will get a lot out of this thread. Here's hoping everyone has a great day today loaded with OP success. Suzy |
Hello,
My goal for today was to get to the board early this morning so I have a good mind set for today. So, I made my goal! ;) But I won't stop there, today I'm also going to write in my journal about how I visulize myself at goal weight. I was told to do that one time at a Goal setting seminar I went to. The trainer said if we couldn't see it in our minds we could never become it. So, I'll do that today and share it tomorrow. I'm anticipating a busy day at work. I will work through lunch and leave at 4:00 so I can get a workout in before school. I'm not skipping lunch. I have a 1/2 a ham sandwich packed and a few chips along with some cucmbers and one little Debbie Snack cake. You know, the package those things 2 in a package; they really should make them individuals. Suzy: It's great to see you here. I love your simple formula for reminding yourself to eat "normal". It doesn't need to be complicated to work, does it?! Justjodi: Wow! a size 18!!! I bet you were smiling from ear to ear. :D Desiree: I always wanted to try yoga, but I'm from a small town and no one here teaches it. I've tried tapes and books and it's ok, but I think I would do better with a instructor. Well, I better get back to work. Have a nice day everyone. I hope to be able to check the boards this afternoon. |
good morning everyone,
it is cold, i am tired, i wish i didn't have to come to work!! ok that about sums it all up. yesterday went well and today i am on the same track so hopefully this will be a smooth sailing tuesday. labchick- i always just associated those sticks with a low carb sort of diet. i'll do a little research and see what i come up with. really the nurses all had to diet?? that seems a little invasive. i would of never made it either i've always had some chub. suzy1965- i totally understand the "normal" thing. i want to eat like a normal person and shop in a normal store etc. here's to your goal!! my goal today is very simple stick to the good plan i laid out for myself this morning. to everyone else yet to post have a super day!!! |
Good Morning Everyone!!
I am not going to let the fact that I woke this morning feeling like poop! I have a terrible sore throat, headache, and feel lathargic. I think maybe I got if from the Hollster. hehe. I took extra vitamin C and some ibuprofen. I am going to not let that deter me from my goal today of drinking plenty of fluids, and still try to walk at lunch. Eating was not bad yesterday, maybe ate a little too much OP last night, but at least OP. Everyone have a groovy OP day!! Annie |
Starting the Day OK...
Good Morning everyone. It's so nice to see so many posts today. What a nice bit a reading.
Last night I ate a bunch of spinach before I ate any of my chili so I wouldn't eat so much. My chili turned out to be rather salty...arrgh...maybe next time. I've almost been married for a year and I'm trying to get a few of my own dishes going that I can make for years to come. I'm in the stage of continuing to screw things up lol! But DH had two bowls of it, soaked with cornbread, of course, so it couldn't be that bad. After I ate, I did my 3-mile WATP tape. It's so cheesy to me, but the only video I can stand to do, and a decent workout. I managed to get to bed early and woke up at 5.15a and went to the gym, got in 50 minutes of cardio and prepared for the day. It's almost 10am and I'm still not very tired. I'm just waiting for it to hit me. I'm sure after a week or so of doing the early morning thing, I'll be used to it and stay energized through the day. The early exercise was nice though, and I hope to continue it. Hopefully, it will cause me to not screw up with eating for the rest of the day. So far, I've had a pear and two packets of instant oatmeal before 8am. I'm not hungry at all and hope this takes me another 2 hours until lunch (a Healthy Choice meal). Annie: Good for you for staying OP yesterday. Keep the fluids down and hopefully you'll not beceome sick. I've found that sometimes when I feel the crappiest are the days when I do the best. This weekend I'm going to get some juice called "Morning Blend" by Knudsen's. It's an organic blend (and rather expensive) but it's got TONS of vitamins including C...one cup provides great nutrition for the day. Knudsen's has a lot of great juices. Jodi: Hope you stick to your goal for the morning. The best goals are the simple ones...to eat only what you've planned, or to use the stairs instead of elevator, etc. Today, I'd like to eat 4 servings of fruits and veggies by the end of the day. Sounds easy, but not for me. Some days, I get hardly any veggies in. Baby steps, right? And great on the jeans! I'm in the icky in between 18 and 20 stage. MyChoice: I think it's a great idea to visualize. In the past, I used to try not to visualize myself, say, 50 pounds ago when DH and I first met...as if I was jumping too far ahead of myself. But I'm going to let myself think about it from now on. I still have the jeans I wore on our first date over six years ago! I can do it! I just want to wear those again! And great job on not having the pumpkin pie! Let me know how "First Daugher" is...I'm thinking about going tonite. I can never refuse the popcorn so that would be dinner, along with some veggies. Suzy: Good to see you again...glad you are still here! Amazing! I do like your forumla. It's very true. I weight the same as I did 2 weeks ago I'm sure...but the difference in energy, positive image and confidence has risen immensely. Not to mention, my sore calves! labchick: Aww, how cute about reading with your son...what a great habit. And you are right, would keep you from the kitchen! Thanks for the tip about the thyroid. I don't think I've had mine tested. Wondering if it could have to do with the PCOS? I'm almost always cold. Desiree: Yes, today is a new day. And from what I hear, yoga is a great way of tightening and toning and breathing. I think it would be a great thing to do. You'll get beck to exercise and journaling. Just start small. :) Ok, sorry if I missed anyone. I have a few minutes to write here and probably won't be able to post again today. Have a great day everyone! |
OH...and one more thing...
Small victory yesterday, I have to tell you.
It's employee appreciation week and they gave us a big cake  in the corporate office. I am very happy to say that I didn't have ONE SINGLE PIECE. At one point, I thought about going to get a tiny piece...just because everyone is walking by my office with it or making sure I know it's there so I can get a piece. Well, I didn't even go to look at it! Instead, I took another mini granola bar from the candy dish...but imagine the calories I saved. Small victory...but that's what it takes to win this battle...small victories. Let's all share our SMALL VICTORIES from the day! Girlie |
"Eat Good=Feel Good... Eat Bad=Feel Bad". Suzy, that is so true. I get such headaches and blech feelings when I eat all that junk. I may tattoo this on my hand so every time I go towards my mouth, it will make me think about what I'm putting in it. :-)
I love yoga - I'm not very flexible but I've seen results in just a couple months. My posture is better and it's easier to move. I'm very fortunate that my employer provides 3 classes a week at no charge to us. I work for the US Olympic Committee and we can also use the gym for free. I want to be more consistent in getting there. Have a great day! Desiree, Colorado |
Mornin'
Girlie - that's a HUGE victory. Don't sell yourself short on that one! I honestly don't know enough about PCOS to say whether or not that could cause you to feel cold all the time. I do know that it's a very common symptom of an underfunctioning thyroid though. I have a borderline underfunctioning thyroid, and before I found a doctor who would listen to me, I was cold all the time, my hair didn't grow very fast and I couldn't drop a pound to save my life. I've been told I'm on the smallest dose of synthroid available, but MAN has it made a difference for me.
Jodi - that's so awesome that you're in a size 18! I've wanted to be in the "teen" sizes forever, but I just can't seem to get into them yet. I believe in "never say die" though. Suzy - amen to that! Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there are stores like Lane Bryant for the rest of us who don't yet fit into a size 16 or smaller, but I want to be able to go into those cute little shops too someday. Callachor - that is so cool that you have a gym at your disposal. Good for you! My small victory of yesterday was staying well within my carb count and calorie count. I try to keep track of both to ensure a victory once per week at the scales. I have fallen off the wagon in terms of drinking enough water though. That's my goal for today, drink enough water. Gotta dash - my little czar is calling for me, Nan |
What the **** was that!!! Didn't know we were a dating service! LOL.
Afternoon Gals!! What a busy day here. Everyone sounds like they are completley on track!! Gotta love it!! Lanita~I think it is a fantastic hurdle to give up soda AND fastfood. You can do this!!!! Annie~Did you stick to the goals yesterday? Oh dear...I hope you squeeze in some rest and help yourself get better(((hug))). Susie~ hope your movie night out was the break you needed! I Love your goals for today. I have trouble visualizing how I look now.I dont know what a thin healthy me looks like anymore. jodi~ 18 from 26...yahoooo you must look marvelous darling!!! Your daily plans are great and are obviously working for you.Keep it up!! Suzi~ gald you are back.Hope your day is successful! Desiree~I do yoga regularily in a class or with a tape or out of my head. It does facilitate weight loss but is slower than cardio workouts. It is fantastic for toning, flexability and for the wellbeing of your soul. Girlie~ you rock!!! awesome workout. I like the WATP, it is simple and not too annoying.I ahve aweak foot(injury) so it is not hard on it either. By the way~can you say HUGE victory!!!! No cake at all! Yesterday I ate on plan except for a small handful of peanuts at 2pm and a few chips at 8 pm.I am aiming again to not do that at all today. So far I have eaten well.I will WATP this aft. I have interviewed a family for babysitting and another is coming shortly. The bottom line is we really need the income. Ideally I wouldn't have to.Hubby misses work in the winter because of weather. The 3 parttime kidsa are not enough. If we want to have any kind of life beyond the bare necessities I need to work. Babysitting is what suits our values the best. Hope everyone is having a great day! |
Hi all!
It's been a few days since I posted; it's been a madhouse here at work. Things are going well; I must try to figure out where I'm going wrong with my food. Been eating Lean Cuisine 2x/day (most days) with low cal snacks in between. Working out 4x/week. Still not losing weight like I want. Maybe I need to try that journal thing... Suggestions?
Don't really have time to say a personal hello to everyone, but your notes are encouraging! My goal is to stay on track with water and exercise. I'm too easily "unmotivated". I'll check back in when I have more time. Any suggestions you might have on tracking food would be great. (Annie - Sent you a PM; ck it out...) |
Hevron:
What are you doing 4x a week? Could it be that you're making muscle and that's why the scale isn't moving? The food sounds okay depending on the snacks you have and how often. I'm trying to have three good meals a day and one small snack in between breakfast and lunch and one in between lunch and dinner. It's hard for me just to do that. I've cut down on intake so I'm still ending up with two small snacks in between meals, but making one a fruit and one something small and sweet to curb my craving. It's hard to cut down on intake when you're used to a bazillion calories a day lol. I don't want to know what I used to eat. OK...just wanted to pop in. Girlie |
Just a thought
Heather- Are you drinking the water? The frozen dinners are LOADED with Sodium and if you aren't drinking tons of water you could be retaining.
Suzy |
Evenin' All
Well, so far so good! I've had more than half my necessary water intake for the day and that's always a good thing here.
No munching today either--just been too darned busy to think about food with trying to get my son potty trained. It's funny, how something that has the potential to be exasperating like potty training can be such a great distraction from food for my diet. Hope you are all on track as well and that our CW numbers start dropping like a rock! :D Nan |
What is the One Thing...?
Good Morning Ladies,
I am wondering what is the one thing that gets you all back on track when you feel yourself losing control? I am having the hardest time getting through a day of eating well. I had a few really great days last week and felt great too but it didn't hold and I am right back to the binges. I want to say that today is the day and I am ready for a brand new start. I want to say that I am motivated and pumped to lose this weight but it just isn't in me. I am trying. Everyday I try. Today I will stay busy. Today I will eat reasonable portions. Today I will try to free flow journal to see what comes out. I won't give up. Nan- Distractions are great. I need to stay very busy. I can think of no better way to distract yourself from eating than with bodily functions. lol Girlie- Ok, so what got you started again and what keeps you from eating the bazillion calories? How did you not have the cake at work? You sound like you have it all together. Great work! Holly- And babysitting sure is great exercise! Glad to see you are feeling better. Desiree- That's great that you have access to the yoga and gym through work. In my case, my little mantra is so true. I can barely move or keep my eyes open when I eat garbage but if I stick to healthier choices like fruits, veggies, high fibers I feel much better and the change is almost immediate. Maybe if I tatooed it on my head too it would stick. Annie- Sorry you aren't feeling well. I admire your determination to stick to plan instead of baby yourself with bad foods. Holly too did that last week. Me, I am such a baby when sick and I use it as an excuse to eat the comfy food. If it is a stomach thing then I use it as an excuse after to "make up" for not being able to eat the comfy food. Gee whiz, I have an excuse for every circumstance or situation to ok the comfy food. Jodi- Did you plan the weekly menu again this week? It really does seem to be working for you. Great job! Keeping goals as simple as possible works the best for me too. Susie- I love the way you set goals for yourself and then make sure you achieve them. Perhaps if I just started with the smallest, easiest thing and accomplished then I would have the confidence to build up to some bigger goals. Lanita- Great job last week and congrats on the loss. That is terrific. Sometimes just making some changes in daily routine makes all the difference. I hope I haven't missed anyone. If I did, I hope all is going well. Have a great day everyone. Suzy |
