Congrats Tardy! You have to feel wonderful about how far you have come. You WILL reach your next goal. We all have faith in you
Well, my weigh-in did show a gain. I was up .75. I know it's not a lot, but that's two weeks I gained so I'm getting with the game plan, and I've decided that I want the weight loss more than I want the ice cream.

Kamitwi: How did the ride on the exersise bike road go? It's hard to get going sometimes, but usually I find that when I just start then I'm ok.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'll check in later.

JEO1982 07-16-2004 08:48 AM

Susie - It soo good to hear that you kept it in prospective.... The scale was just reminding you to stay on track. Don't worry about it, just use it as motivation to work harder this week... I bet you'll be back down at least that .75# by next weigh-in!

Girlie 07-16-2004 11:08 AM

Angel - awesome for you!!!! It's nice to reflect back and keep your mind on track! I'm very happy for you!

My Choice - Keep on trucking along! There will be good weigh-ins and bad ones!

Speaking of bad ones lol...

I haven't weighed. I'm hoping to on Sunday. I have only gone to the gym 2 times this week and I planned on going Sunday evening to weigh, but we are going out of town but we will be swimming while we are there so that will be nice. Maybe we can still get home in time for me to get a weigh-in at the gym.

I'm glad to see everyone moving along. Summer is a hard time for me. I just want to sit in my house and hide. I've got a softball game tonite and DH might take me to the local fair...walking. Let's see if can resist eating much of the funnel cake!

Girlie

tardyangel 07-16-2004 12:06 PM

Ty all!

As far as a present goes. I bought myself a "flattering-form" fitting shirt and sandals. So when I came in today people have kept coming over to my desk saying OMG, lol. I guess I hid under my old clothes long enough, lol. But amazingly, I still feel yucky. Summer is rough for feeling good about yourself when you're overweight. But I just am trying to keep it in perspective as "Summer...more opportunity for me to exercise and change that."

I'm gonna weigh in next payday (7/29) and see if I passed my first goal of 250. If I did, I'm getting myself something little again and setting my new goal of 220. I won't weigh in again then until I go to the doctor's in October and we'll see how I did. I'm hoping to have lost 10-20 lbs. more by then. I'd love to see 230 on the scale. That's puts me 31 lbs. outside of my "I can live with myself goal (which is 199 of course), lol".

I wouldn't sweat a small weight gain, but I like how proactive you are being about it. It's always good to grab control back again before it's lost (I know how easy that one is). I'm gonna put a bunch of prayers out for the two of you! I know you can do it!

Have a great day everyone...(darn Jenn and her cute self ;) ) 3 lbs. away girl! Come on you can do it!!!!

vollybchick 07-16-2004 12:11 PM

MyChoice2bfit 07-16-2004 01:17 PM

You all are such a supportive group!

Jen: You are an inspiration to us all...just 3 more lbs...you can do it..I know you will!

Tardy: You should be so proud of yourself! Tell us if anyone commented on you new shirt...I'm SURE they noticed the change in you.

Girlie: If you want to resit that funnel cake, you can....it's going to be tuff though! (at least for me..I love them!, maybe you can share one with someone else)--at least you will be up walking around..that counts towards exercise.

Volly: Welcome! This is a great place to be; you will find a lot of support here. Looking forward to getting to know you.

I didn't get ice cream at lunch--even though I feel hungry and I'm sure that would get rid of it...nope...not going to do it...now..where's my water?!

JEO1982 07-16-2004 02:24 PM

Thanks Angel & Susie! 3# until my August 1st goal... Then I more on to my Labor Day goal of 175#.... Tomorrow morning I will know how much closer I've come to the 185# though. I'm actually excited to see where I'm at because I am going to get an updated star on the "Curves Losers" wall :D

I hope everyone is having a great Friday!!! :goodvibes

praytherosary822 07-16-2004 09:40 PM

Hello everyone. Hubby and I had our weekly weigh in today. We loss the 2 pounds we gained celebrating his birthday, so hopefully next week we will have another loss. Will catch you tomorrow night. Have a wonderful weekend and God Bless.

barb64 07-17-2004 07:40 PM

Hi everybody!

I've started my new job and it's killing my free time! :( I've really missed you all- it looks as though everyone's doing really well! I see we have some new folks too (Hi!)
I've been a good girl on eating, but my workout time is taking a beating this week. My drive time is just taking alot out of my day- then when I do get home, I have to take my daughter to her job. The good part is that I am doing alot of walking (like 8,000-100,000 steps on pedometer) at work, so it's not as though I'm at a desk. Will be in home store, and not training store, this coming week. That means I will be able to go to Curves right after work for my 3 days. I really felt lousy on Friday, because I really wanted to go to Curves- but got out of work late, so didn't make it. This is the second week in a row I didn't get in all 3 workouts. Well, this is a new week- so I just have to start again!

Getting closer to 199- at 200 even as of this past Thursday! Yippee! 35 pounds gone forever!

I must share this story with you....one of the days I got out of work, I was totally spent. Long drive home, really tired, my back hurt, my knees hurt, blah, blah, blah. Well, I had the devil on one shoulder saying "Barb, you worked hard, you don't have to workout...what will it hurt to skip one day?" The angel on my other shoulder said "You hush over there! Barb, you're tough- you can do it! Besides, if you skip one day, it could lead to skipping more!" This debate went on for the whole ride- luckily, the angel won- I went! And you know what? I felt better when I was done! More alert and my body didn't hurt! I was able to go home and do what I had to do for the next day. I was never a believer in this "exercise gives you energy" business, you know? Well, I admit here before you, I was wrong!

MyChoice2bfit 07-18-2004 05:41 PM

Barb64: You will get those 3 workouts in this week. You sound determined! I'm lucky to be one of those people who like to workout..but sometimes when I'm tired or I have so much to do, I can confess to just wanting to stay home. But you are right, it gives so much back to us. That's why I go, even when I don't want to. Today was one of those days, but after I went I felt so much better about myself. In fact, I've been struggling a little with wanting to overeat, but after today's workout (I was alone, without my workout partner, so I was really, really concentrating on me) I could feel my resolve coming back around and I'm reay to go at this again..full tilt.

I even tried the dip machine today. I haven't tried it in a long time, but today, no one was in the weight room and so I tried it..and I did them. I was breathing hard, my arms were shaking, but I did it...Feels GOOD!!

Pray: Congrats on your weight loss! You are back on track..keep it up!

JEO1982 07-18-2004 07:53 PM

Congratulations Pray! You and hubby are doing great! Keep at it!

Good to see you back Barb! You are sooo close to ONEderland... wooohooo! Before you know it you will be walking in that glorious land! Keeping busy is doing good for you!

Susie, great job going to the gym alone and trying something new! Isn't it great to focus on yourself and realize that you are capable of more than you thought! That is sooo great!

Here's my good news, I got weigh and measured at Curves yesterday, and here are the results: (drumroll please....)

Measurement/This month's loss/Total Loss

Bust: 36.5"/-2"/-4.25" ( nothappy about this one!)
Waist: 28.5"/-3.25"/-6.5"
Abdomen: 40.75"/-1.25"/-5.75"
Hips: 41.5"/-2.5"/-6.75"
*Thighs: 25.5"/-2.5"/-3"
*Arms: 12"/-2"/-4"
Weight: 185#/-13#/-35.5#
Body Fat%: 27.6%/-5.9%/-6.5%

* Keep in mind the measure is a single thigh/arm and the loss is the total for both ;)

I am sooo excited! I have met my August 1st goal about 2 weeks ahead of schedule! Nantucket here I come! Woohoo! :D

MyChoice2bfit 07-19-2004 08:14 AM

Jen: CONGRATULATIONS! You are so inspiring. I know how proud you must be of yourself. Enjoy the trip.

I have a question. Are your measurments what you are now or what you started at, and then you show how much you lost this month and the total?

I'm going to measure myself tomorrow morning, so that I can keep track. It's a good idea.

:bravo: again on a job well done

JEO1982 07-19-2004 09:11 AM

Thank you Susie! :D I've never thought of myself as inspiring, but I am so glad to be able to share this success with all of you. Coming in here and chatting with all you wonderful ladies, makes me want to try harder so I have positive results to share with you! So I guess I owe you another thank you for holding me accountable!

To answer your question, my measurements are the current ones, then I wrote what a lost this month to get to that point and finally the total that I have lost since I started this transformation in March.

I think you totally should measure yourself because it gives you another way to look at your success.... If you plateau and start to get discouraged because the weight is staying the same, measure yourself again, because odds are you'll see a difference there. :goodvibes

tardyangel 07-19-2004 10:57 AM

Good Day All You Successful Chickie-Poos!

Hello Hello All! Boy did I like reading the posts today! Tons of successes over the past week!

Let me say congrats to all of you!

Volly - Welcome! Wow you've really done well at maintaining your weight loss. I definitely can see you acheiving your goal. You're so close! 17 1/2 lbs. is achievable! Look at how far you've come already!

Susie - OMG! Congrats on avoiding the ice cream! WELL DONE!! I knew you could do it!

Pray - Congrats! I knew you wouldn't let another week pass with a weight gain!

Barb - Congrats on the new job! OMG - 1 lb. from ONE-derland? COME ON - YOU CAN DO IT!!! Woo-hoo!!

Jenn - YOU DID IT GIRL! When's Nantucket? Hmmmm...do we need to worry about you? A tattoo on the last trip...what's next ;)

Yes, I got lots of comments on the new outfit. I actually took a picture of myself. It was the first time in about 7 years that I wasn't completely mortified. My best friend and husband flipped that I even allowed it. *they wanted me to see how far I've come*. I'm gonna see if I can post my before and current picture for you guys. Pretty weird, lol!

Ahhhh.....ONE-derland....how I long to see that. I keep saying to myself...52 more lbs. 52 more lbs....over and over again. So next Thursday I will weigh myself and see where we land ;) Hopefully I will be somewhere in the 240's and can set my NEW GOAL of 220!!!! That would mean 100 lbs....omg....is that even possible, lol!

Have a great day ladies, and keep me posted on your successes...I love to hear them :)

JEO1982 07-19-2004 11:40 AM

Thanks Angel! No I don't think you have to worry about me doing anything... Nantucket is going to be a day trip I think and NH was a whole week... lots more time to get into trouble, that and my sister was there to encourage it! I'll try to be good, I promise! I don't know when we will be going yet though.... I have to figure that out since we are going to a concert this Saturday.... We'll have to see how the schedule works out....

beth2004 07-19-2004 07:01 PM

Hi All:

Today I ditched work and then went to the gym after finally getting some sleep! Long story. Felt good to be back and especially when the gym wasn't completely packed like it is after work. Oh well, I guess that those skinny minnies got that way somehow.

Weighed myself after basically not doing anything for a month and I only gained 4 lbs. I guess I was doing something right although I likely won't make my July goal of 240lbs. Right now I'm 247lbs but I guess I could get close. Looking forward to making that goal.

-Beth

Hello everyone. Haven't posted almost all weekend, seems like a month! Glad to hear from you all and see you all seem to be doing really good. Hubby and I are hoping to go bike riding Wednesday morning. Anyway just wanted to say hi. Praying for all of you. God BLess.

beth2004 07-19-2004 09:59 PM

Can everyone give me ideas for a healthy and non-fattening breakfast? I'm trying to eat less processed foods. Thanks.

-Beth

JEO1982 07-20-2004 10:31 AM

Beth, maybe you could have some fresh fruit salad? That's definitely healthy.

I usually have oatmeal or cereal. This week it is alternating between Quakers "Nutrition for Women" Vanilla Cinnamon Oatmeal and Kashi's Organic Strawberry Fields(in skim milk)... ;)

MyChoice2bfit 07-20-2004 12:26 PM

Beth,
I usually have ceral w/ milk.

Some other ideas might be fruit (as Jen said). I've also been told that some sort of protein at breakfast is good to keep one from getting hungry. They suggested to me toast w/ peanut butter, an egg (can even be hard boiled if you are in a hurry).

Hope that gives you some idea.

Susie

Kamitwi 07-21-2004 08:16 PM

Wow, everyone's doing so well! Pray, Jenn, congrats on the weightloss! I'm down 1.5 pounds, less than I wanted, but anything is nice ^_^ 23.5 more pounds to ONEderland! I bet the flowers smell like sunshine in that most magic of lands ^_^

Beth, I usually eat yogurt--the Yoplait light (it's a dark blue container and lid) only has a hundred calories for a whole yogurt! Yum. Yogurt and fruit, or a low cal cereal is my suggestion ^_^

Shan79 07-21-2004 08:57 PM

Hi!!

Hi  I am just getting back to this site after I fell off my weight loss wagon awhile back. I couldn't really find a spot to fit in anywhere and thought this thread looks very supportive and just what I need!! I have lost some weight. I started in April but it's taken me 3 months to lose 10+ lbs. I guess I thought it would come off faster then that. But I am proud of what I have lost. I have an addiction to Heath Blizzards right now and I tell myself it's ok, b/c I "walk it off" LOL However, I've been stuck at 242-244 for a month now!! So I'm trying to get back on track and stay away from the junk!

I'm 25 and have one daughter who is 8. She is diabetic and got dx a year ago. Having to count carbs for her makes it easier for me to watch what I eat and how much. I just need more motivation to exercise. I have been working with some weights on my arms, doing some crunches and I bought a treadmill the other day. Anyone know how much treadmill I need to see some results. To begin with...this thing is killing me! LOL I usually walk with my Mom every night (it's been hot lately though) so I get some exercise there.

My problem mainly is over-eating foods I love and not enough exercise. I watch kids during the day so I don't get up and out of the house as much as I'd like! Anyways, it's nice to meet ya all and hope I can give and get some great support here!! Thanks and sorry for the long post!

tjmarco 07-21-2004 09:00 PM

wow! i am so glad i found this website. After i had my daughter, who is now 9, i went down and stayed down below my prepregnancy wt then i had my first son, who is now 4, and i havent seen below 200 since. then!!! i had the baby, who is now 20 months old and im the largest i have ever been even larger than when i was expecting.

So heres the run down: CW 225 altimate GW 140
my first agenda is to start drinking more H2O, get moving and cut back on grub.
trying to get to 199.

i cant believe miss elisha is fr WV, so am i. i just didnt think i would run into a fellow mountaineer. its very exciting.

praytherosary822 07-21-2004 09:18 PM

Hello everyone. Glad to "see" all of you here. Just a few short lines before I take my allergy meds and go to bed - they make me VERY sleepy. Have a blessed evening. God Bless.

miss_elisha 07-21-2004 10:49 PM

TJ--There are a few Eers around here. But I dare say that very few on this board now would recognize me, as I haven't posted in quite a while. I'm still around though, and I'm still reading and keeping up with everything that's going on here. I love reading this board, even if I don't post, because these chicks are so full of energy. I'm usually not though, and I always feel like I'm repeating myself from my posts on other boards. *shrugs*

I'm getting closer to Onederland every day. I was at 204 a few days ago, but then I think I must have looked at a candy bar or something, because now I'm back up to 207 for no apparent reason. Grrr....

It'll be gone soon enough. I was hoping to have it off by August 1, but I don't really think that's going to happen, so now I'm aiming for Labor Day. That seems so far away though. I think I might just go crazy if I don't make it before then.

Anyway, keep up the great work everyone! I'll just go back to my lurking now...
~Elisha

tjmarco 07-21-2004 10:55 PM

hey elisha

glad to know were in this together even if we dont post. i am looking forward to getting started on the road to wt loss freedom. i just need to become more postive and go for it. i think this site will help.

bye for now,
tj :^:

JEO1982 07-22-2004 08:48 AM

Kami - :bravo: on your loss! :cp: And thank you for the encouragement!

Shan79 & tjmarco- Welcome aboard! This is the best place to be if you need encouragement and support as there is no way you won't get it here! I hope to see you in here often posting your successes and getting re-assured when you feel you migh blow it. Remember, only you can change your life and you owe it to yourself to feel good! :D

Pray- It's god to see you around! I hope you and hubby are doing well this week!

Elisha- It great to see you in here! I haven't seen you in this neck of the woods for a while! You are doing great and I think you will totally make your Labor Day goal! ONEderland get ready, because here comes Miss Elisha!!! ;)

MyChoice2bfit 07-22-2004 09:35 AM

Morning Everyone!
It's so good to be here. I was having a really negative day, letting the other people around me dictate my mood..that's not what I want, I should be incontrol of me.

So, that's why I came here, to get motivated and take back my control!

Welcome to the new members and the returning members--it's good to have you...as they say, there is strength in numbers!

My weigh-in is tonight and after having the last two show a gain, I've worked hard this week (I choose to look at the gains as a warning to get it back under control) and I'm pretty sure I'm going to show a loss.

OK...I'm already feeling better since I came here. Hope everyone else has a great day!

Shan79 07-22-2004 12:40 PM

:)

Hi everyone!!

Mychoice~ :goodluck: with your weigh in!! :goodscale I hope you show a loss! It's so easy to gain yet so hard to lose...I hate this battle and hope that each of us get to where we want and need to be soon!! We can do this girls!!

Does anyone have children here? When I got pregnant I weighted 155 and got up to 200 the day I gave birth and I've went up since. I got on the Depo-Provera shot and I'm sure that helped in my gain and then I quit smoking which didn't help it either. I was DX with PCOS a few years ago as well...so I have that fighting against me. It's hard but I'm determined.

When is the best time to weigh in? I usually do in the morning b/c it's less then! Also anyone have any good snack ideas, besides fruit (i'm not the best fruit eater) I've been wondering about some kind of popcycle...seems someone told me a certain kind is ok for you???

Thanks for the Welcome and I hope ya all have a great day! It's rainy and hot here...so I'll be staying in! :)

praytherosary822 07-22-2004 09:32 PM

Hey Jenn. Nice to hear from you too.
MyChoice it's hard not to let people get to you. We always have a choice as to how to react to others. Good for you that you came here, better than dealing with frustration with food. Good Luck with the weigh in.
Hello Shan, welcome. I have a grown son who is actually a year older than you are. Girl I would give anything to weigh what I weighed the day I went into labor. I weighed about 110-114 when I got pregnant and 140 the day I had my son, then after I got out of the hospital I weighed about 120-125, which was the highest I had ever weighed(!) and thought I was so fat! Man would I love to be that fat again!!
Sugar Free/Fat Free Chocolate pudding, with a slice of graham cracker with cool whip is good, any popcycle that is all fruit and either sugar free or no sugar added is good, I think Dole has one. Anyway good Luck
God Bless everyone. I have a quote I would like to share with you. It is by Dale Carnegie: "Unjust criticism is a disguised compliment. It often means that you have aroused jealousy and envy." Sometimes people say mean things to us because we at least taking steps to lose weight and get healthy and they are not and they are jealous.

batinabox 07-23-2004 02:46 AM

hi, everybody!

okay... i'm new to these forums. and figured this was as good a place to start as any. i'm currently weighing in at 211... but i started at 222. which is, by the way, my highest weight. i'm 24 years old, 5'4", and after seeing that depressing figure on the doctor's scales, i decided i wanted to get back to my high school weight of 135. ^.^

or at least close to it... so uhm, anyway... here i am ^.^ i'm not really sure what else to post here. ^.^;

MyChoice2bfit 07-23-2004 08:55 AM

Doing a Happy Dance

:cb:
The scales went down 2 lbs at my weigh-in last night! I worked so hard to get those 2 lbs back off!

It was all worth it when I stepped on those scales.

Now, I'm ready to do it again this week!

I'm 9 lbs away from a 50 lbs loss. I want to reach that by Sept 8. That's when I go for my year checkup from having my hyst., and I want to be at a 50 lb loss.

I know I can reach it.

Thank you so much everyone for your support. I can testify that when I "work the system", that the support is there and it can help to keep one motivated.

Welcome Batinabox: It's nice to have you and I'm sure you will find this board to be a wonderful support system. Just read the posts, ask questions, share what you are feeling: It works!

I must get busy at work ladies; I'll check in later.

Susie

JEO1982 07-23-2004 11:01 AM

Morning ladies!!!

Wooohooo Susie!! Way to go!! :bravo: I knew it wouldn't be longer before you sent those extra pounds packing!! Keep up the great work! :cp:

 Welcome BatinaBox! :goodluck: We are all here for you!

batinabox 07-23-2004 11:13 AM

MyChoice: thanks for the welcome, and congrats on the loss... you'll reach your goal by september 8, i'm sure! :cp:

i have to say, i'm really glad i stumbled on this site... the people here are so friendly! :goodvibes

i do have a question... because i had back surgery a few years ago, and gained quite a bit of my weight in a very short period of time, i'm having all sorts of issues with trying to exercise. i'm on my feet a lot, at work, and i've developed heel spurs, so by the time i come home, i can't be on my feet too much... on top of that, my knees have been aching severely, and if i do a lot of treadmill walking... my hip starts to hurt, to the point that i can't stand up straight (remnants of a pinched nerve i had, a few months ago...)

(those are ALL reasons why i decided to lose weight... that, and i don't like the way i look in photos... :p)

so my question is... aside from swimming laps, is there any sort of low impact exercise that i can look into? i'm living in a small (VERY small) apartment, so there's not too many tapes i can follow... (trust me, i've tried... i usually end up kicking furniture, and tripping over the cats  )

i'm getting really bored with swimming... i've decided to get some of those little diving sticks, just to give me something different to do, but still... any suggestions are welcome.

Shan79 07-23-2004 11:50 AM

 :dancer: :bravo: Congrats on the 2lb loss!!! Your def. going to make your 50lb mark!! You can do it!!! :cb:

I think I have a corn or callus on my foot from walking on the treadmill ... it hurts....anyone gotten one of these?! I don't know what a corn looks like so I don't know what it is for sure. It makes it hard to get up and walk though!

Well I have a family picnic this Sunday and these are the hard times...trying not to over-stuff and staying away from all the desert...ugh! I hope I have will power come Sunday! LOL

Everyone have a great weekend!!

praytherosary822 07-23-2004 09:12 PM

Hello Susie. Congratulations on your weight loss! Good for you!!
Welcome batinabox. What about bike riding. I tried some tapes from a woman called Theresa Tapp, ttapp.com or something like that. It may be able to help you with your injuries.
Shan, why not take a bite or two of a variety of foods including the dessert. Just small portions though, and that way you can enjoy the food and not have too many calories. Good Luck.
Have a blessed weekend. God Bless.

batinabox 07-24-2004 01:03 AM

praytherosary - i've tried using stationary bikes, and they're not too bad. if i overdo it, my hip lets me know... but i guess i kinda forgot about that, for exercise. thanks for the reminder! :) and thanks for the suggestion... i'll have to look for theresa tapp's dvds (they're kinda out of my price range, on her website)... looks interesting, though. thanks so much!! :D

praytherosary822 07-24-2004 08:41 PM

batinabox. What about water aerobics? The water helps support joints. Maybe light weigh lifting may help also. Anyway have a blessed weekend. God Bless.

Queenie1963 07-24-2004 09:15 PM

Hi All: I've been going to WW for 3 months now and have lost a grand total of 13 pounds. The odds are stacked against me and I'm sure lots can relate to; low thyroid, overweight family, quit smoking, husband who only goes to buffet restaurants to be sure we're getting our money's worth! I was at 220, the highest I've been. I quit smoking for my 40th birthday last year but now I'm worried about the ill effects of weight! :?: I am 207 now and it's been coming off a quarter pound here, eighth of a pound there, a tenth of a pound here, etc.! I love this thread and I'm going to join the fight with you if that's okay! The fight to see 199! :D - Queenie (P.S. I have two kids, two step-kids, 3 chihuahuas and 1 husband.)

Queenie: Welcome to the board. This is a wonderful board with a lot of support.

I too lose weight slowly, but that's ok, it's still coming off, and that's the direction that we want to go in. Also, I think that the slower a person loses the weight is a good thing because it allowes for our skin to catch up with it, and hopefully there won't be so much excess skin to deal with when we reach our goal.

I just wanted to check the board this morning and see how everyone is doing.

I slept in this morning instead of going to church, but I guess missing one Sunday won't do me in! I really do hate to miss, but this morning I was so tired and had a headache and I just couldn't talk myself into getting up. I even missed my walk and I love to take my walk on Sunday morning before church.

Tonight hubby, myself, my brother and a friend are going to see Sting and Annie Lennox in concert. I'm really excited about it. We are going out to Ruby Tuesday's before to have dinner. I'm going to see if I can find a online menu for the resturant and make my choice before I get there and get tempted by the smells and the menu choices of everyone else.

Have a great day everyone!

Susie
