Important Cow Conference
Was anyone thinking of loosing weight this millenium????? if so,WHEN????? and shall we AT LEAST map out a few suggestions----LIke ----HOW ABOUT ONE NEW HABIT A WEEK!!!!WE COULD START WITH THE WATER THING----HOW MUCH ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE DRINKING ANYWAY???????? GET WITH IT HAGS,THIS TRIP IS ALMOST OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Saw "SuperSize Me" last night. It's the documentary about this guy who ate McD's 3X a day for 30 days. He was in great physical shape before experiment....gained 25lbs in a month, blood tests went ballistic and his liver function tests became dangerously high. Film somewhat predicatable and formulaic but will be a great thing for our kids to watch! It's going to be released theatrically soon, I think.
I think mynew habit is going to have to be staying off EBay. Just bought a pair of pink sapphire earrings, citrine earrings and blue zircon earrings. I will tell myself it's for Valentines Day. But have to stop doing this. |
I can't wait to see SuperSize Me! I hope there's not too much throwing up on screen.
My new habit of the week is to avoid "bad" carbs (white stuff). |
lose weight????????Is that what we're supposed to do? Oh, ok...I thought we were here to pass time and complain. My bad.
I am reading Dr. Phil. I already know all this hogwash from previous diet books...but I guess it never hurts to refresh one's memory...since mine is failing by the day. Painty, we've met many people on our internet journey over these past six years. Most were completely whacked out and Dusty was no exception. Imagine a teacher/ housewife in a thorazine haze. One of her most memorable posts was when she posted information from the dossiers she kept on each of us. Sugar and Cherry chased her away. Sometimes they are so mean. Where's Kiwi. Does anyone have an explanation for her selfish disruption of our lives? Peaches, You are right, but you can't win. I do tell my husband things, however I never tell him things my SIL's tell me...I feel that he is too close. There are also some friends whose confidences I wouldn't repeat to him because they are his friends, too. You're entirely right, but I wouldn't go into it with her, because then she'll have that story to repeat. Morgan Stanley has lost some stuff of mine. I usually count on ME losing things and other people finding them. I am not up to this kind of challenging interaction. Can I take a nap first? bye |
Loose women are us. I thought we were going to lose weight. This explains everything.
Sugar, this is big news! Maybe your neighbors will become your very bestest friends and your depressive haze will lift. I had a very best friend when my kids were little and we hung out together all the time, our kids were best friends and it made life bearable when I was in the young mom with children stage. Did anyone see Oprah yesterday??? Wynonna Judd was on discussing her weight trials and tribulations. She's given herself over to Oprah's weight loss gurus and she will be featured for the next year in her weight loss efforts. The first change for her is 5 to 6 days a week, 30 minutes of exercise. No change in eating habits for first month. Just getting in the exercise mode. Of course she has a personal trainer and a chef. I did enjoy watching her making excuses for why she couldn't exercise. Excuses are universal, be you celebrity or regular joe. The show had some rather touching moments. The emotional pain caused by weight gain is universal too. Did you know Wynonna was 30 years old before her mother remembered to mention to her that she and her sister had different fathers?? Everyone knew but her, even her sister. I don't have Dr. Phil's book - he's too chunky for me to have too much faith in him - I may re-read Bob Greene's book about getting with the program. Oprah's other weight loss expert. Not that I'm not expert on this subject. It's been a life long obsession. |
Dusty Jane made me cry.
|
Cherry, for that alone, she had to go. Did she make you cry by forcing you to read that graduation poem of hers???????
Here's a nice story.....my sil bought me a clock for Christmas. It was ceramic, I broke it. Today, I called the company...a nice southern outfit...to ask if they could sell me one. They didn't have any.....then they called back and said they would take one out of someone else's order and FedEx it to me so that it's here before sil comes over on Sunday. See??? All southern people are not dark and menopausal. However all southern people think that everyone from NJ is straight out of the Sopranos. F^ckin' A, I'm only 1/2 Italian...northern no less. I find swearing to be so freeing. Maybe Painty is right. Sugar, I would not trust these neighbors. Why do they want to be friends with you now????? Wynona's mother is a nut case. Remember when she was going to die about 10 years ago and they had this big farewell concert...then..pffffft. Nothing happened??? I must go address more unpleasant desk tasks. So far, it looks like I've lost all the paperwork from when I did desk tasks last week. We're batting 1000 here. bye |
Cherry. what did she do? Is there another story here we don't know??? She made me angry (Cussin' Lush would say P*ss*d off) when she called me "dark and menopausal."
Sugar really did run her off though the part about Cherry is probably a joke. Lush, there is nothing wrong with not dying and going pffft. You are so crass. But I am not bringing this secret thing up with my friend. I'm just learning my lesson and beginning all secrets with "If I tell you a secret, who will you tell it to?" I guess there's always someone. Cherry, where were you published? I won't tell. |
H*llfire and brimstone don't belong here

I was watching Larry King Live on CNN last week and there was this guy on there with some new diet book called "One Step" or "First Step" or something where you work on one meal at a time and gradually end up doing the whole program. So the first week you concentrate on eating a good, healthy breakfast every day and don't worry about anything else, and then you go on to lunches, dinners, snacks, restaurant meals etc. in the following weeks so by the end of six weeks or so you've gradually change your eating habits instead of trying to do it all at once. |
Lush, I wished you were with me last night. I went out for drinks before a meeting with a friend of mine and a friend of hers I never met before. The waitress are uncharacteristically rude, slow and unfriendly and we couldn't get the check from her. The stranger said, "I'm going to be mean and get that check." She said to the waitress, "Excuse me, but we have been waiting for our check." I said, "THAT'S mean????.....Excuse me Miss, but who do we have to **** to get out of here?" My friend laughed, her friend was offended. OOOOPS. That's another alienated Southerner.

I got here right after Dusty Jane left. That was a close call. She must have been horrible if she made Cherry cry. Tomorrow is Bunco night. I'm in charge of beverages. Actually it's my big sis's turn to host, but she was laid off this week and lil' sis and I are taking over for her. She doesn't need bunco planning stress right now. My life is just one big party lately, no? Hee-hee - I just read Frappe's post. I wanna party with her. :hat: |
That is not true..I'm sure you were around when Dusty was...summer of '98 is when Sugar caused Dusty's nervous breakdown...which was taken out on poor Cherry. Peaches has the creepy post...evidence that she probably WAS Dusty Jane.
|
Cherry, ignore Wabby and email me.
Sugar, I you. You make me believe the following: If I eat Special k with a banana on top for breakfast, I will lose weight inspite of eating four ounces of peanuts two hours later and a cheeseburger all the way with a yoohoo for lunch and candy for midafternoon snack and a normal good dinner then ice cream and corn chips. Cussin' Lushin' you are a bad influence. Bagz, are you writing so big so I can read it without my glasses. That is so sweet. I have had soaps on today and on each of them someone has lost a baby, a baby is caught in a legal battle between parents. The men are not good at acting unless standing stiff and wiggling eyebrows counts as good; and the women are so alike I thought two of them were sharing cast members. Bye. I have bored myself into oblivion. |
Wabby, I stand corrected...you are not in the creepy post. I think Frappe is. Frappe, did you have a youth group? I'm pretty sure you were around then...you must have been too nice for Dusty to pick on. Did Alexa send you any pictures?????
|
yikes!! i can't believe you brought up ALEXA~!!!!! she was SOOSSSSSSSSSSSooo transvestitish!!!!! or something-------- wanna see the dress that dd has ordered for her prom-----------------the dress is in at the shop and her dad{who is visiting his girlfriend in california on the march break} will pick it up for her----they don't mail to Canadaaaaaaaaaa=============promming is very exciting-------------- I MISS KIWONKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! here is the link to the dress site---- http://search.netscape.com/ns/boomfr...%253Fcat%253D1 you have to click on page four of the dresses and it is in the bottom corner---a very strange green shade!!!!
|
I like that color of green. Prom dresses didn't look like that when I was prom age. Duh. No kiddin'. I just realized that was 33 years ago. :halfempty
Frappe got here after me. Dusty Jane left before that. Sugar sent her away??? She must have been bad, bad, bad! I've seen a picture of Alexa, but she (he?) was here before then too. There was someone who was posting from the middle east or something. And then there was Lola, was she the plus size thong woman? Ahhh, the memories! |
I never "met" DJ but heard about her. I don't remember Alexa but Peaches and I had alternate personalities for a while. I don't remember their names either. Lola??????
Prom dress looks great! |
It's a beautiful dress and will so goood with her complexion. Does she get a flowery swing too?
Where's Kiwi. She has the Alexa photo. Time to get it out. |
Frappe, you were Lola? I'm so dim... people practically had to beat me over the head before I realized they were made up! I'm still not certain DJ was real. (Oh, wait, you were asking who Lola was. She LOLed all the time.)
DJ went all weird and religious and scary and said something I have since blocked out. I don't remember exactly what it was and I hope no one else does, but I almost quit going to cybermom cause of it. (In case DJ was a construct of someone here... I'm over it now... that was a rough year... I was very isolated.) I remember the Alexa picture. Peachie, I will email you... do I have your email? I was published in Newsweek in 1997. Haven't submitted anything to anyone since about a week before the essay was accepted. I'm into self-sabotage, I guess. Bagzzi, that's a very vibrant shade of chartreuse! I love how the dress flows! On-Topic: My SB diet was going great until I ran into the Doritoes. Tomorrow is another day. My workout was great, though! |
Thanks for the dress comments!! you guys are sweeeeet---------------i am making a flowered swing for dd to arrive at prom in ---should be cute-----------Cherry darling!!!! as whacky and insane as we are,and we HAVE made up people,i can guarantee that no one was diabolical enought to make up Dusty!!!! especially if it were to hurt someone as lovely as YOU!!!!!!i think Lola was real though--------we did have some REAL nuts!!
|
No, Cherry, I think DJ was a real live nut. The big blow out happened when I was away and was deleted before I got to read it...in those days we didn't know to save controversial messages. But we all smite her for hurting you.
Bagzie, the dress is beautiful...I love the color. I'm on another organization kick. Ever since I spent a fortune at Organized Home, I feel obligated to live the organized life. I've also been pretty good on the food front. Maybe it is time to get Perfect 2004 going...I feel it...this is our year. Or not. Wabby, one of my goals to day will be to get the Anne Tyler book. I love her books. Then we will discuss. Must go, perfection waits. I'm off to eat a healthy breakfast, followed by a room by room pick up. I'm so happy not to be working full-time...it has made me domestic. bye |
Aww, you guys are so sweet! I'm crying just a little, in a good way.
Wabby, I don't know if I already said this, but the Anne Tyler book is going on my next library list. I just finished "The Secret Life of Bees," which is really good unless you're tired of stories about motherless 14-year-old white girls running away to bee farms with their black housekeepers who got beaten up and arrested while trying to register to vote. (I'm feeling kind of touchy after reading disparaging comments about this "type" of book elsewhere.) Now I'm reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time" and "Library: An Unquiet History." (Painty, have you read that?) |
Cherry, I read Secret Life of Bees and I loved it. Good story and such wonderfully expressive writing. You don't need to make excuses for books you like. Either you like them or not and I can't stand a literary snob. Are these other 2 books you mentioned good enough to recommend? I'm reading Year of Wonders. So far it's really good. Set in 1666 village in England during the plague. I love a good historical novel. And my life will seem wonderful in comparison. Can't get worse than the plague.
Where is Kiwi??? |
KIWI---- your return has been ordered!!! we NEED our moderator----especially since you are the only moderate one---------the others are extremists---especially the loudmouth ones and you know who you are----special note to cherry!!!!-I AM GOING TO SEE JANN ARDEN TONIGHT AND I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED-------I ADORE HER-!!!!!!!!! AND SO SHOULD YOU ALL-------------------also====i want to be organized as well,so share your knowledge miss ex-system's goddess-------------gotta go paint something.

Oh, never mind, you know I wouldn't stay away on purpose :) Honestly I don't know how I've managed to be away this long anyway. Except that every time I sit down to the computer and start reading messages, I have to quit to drive DD somewhere, and usually by the time I get back to the computer, someone has closed or locked up what I was doing, so I have to start all over. Last Sunday, went to The Mikado. I think I told you that. Very good production, niece was delightful. DD didn't get to talk with her at all, because it was the last performance and they were having a cast party while we had dinner with my sister and the rest of her family. 2 of my other sisters were there at the performance and also my step-mother. One sis was really standoffish, but more because she couldn't think of anything to say apparently. She stood there and made brief small talk. Although she didn't speak to my DH at all, which was kind of freaky. It was almost as though she couldn't remember who he was or something. Step-mom and other sis were all friendly lahdidah. My step-mom actually said something all gushy to my DD like "If I lived nearer to you, I would go to all of your performances!" I'm sure my mouth gaped open at that, the bullshit detector was clanging so loudly in my head I couldn't speak for a second... Poor DD, she never did anything to be so ignored by her step-grandmother; really I just want to protect her from that crap more than I want to reconnect with the family. Oh, and the stepmom and 2 sisses high-tailed it out of that theater when it was over like their butts were on fire. We did have a good time with the other sister and her family. Quote:

And, no Cherry, DJ was very real (of course some things might have been posted in her name... ). What a horrible person. Why do I think of her being shut in a closet? Not figuratively, literally? There were times before we split off to WLB when she seemed kind of nice--even nurturing, then all of a sudden she turned into a hyena. Bagz, the prom dress is gorgeous. I love that color. How many bank accounts did that cost? (Don't answer, it's better that I'm kept from that kind of info) I liked Secret Life of Bees. Having spent "formative years" in NC, it was interesting to read -- it was very much about a part of the region that I didn't know anything about, but have always been curious about. I'm not reading anything challenging. I just finished the latest Harry Potter and now I'm reading an interesting book of Ursula LeGuin's called Changing Planes. Fantasy. But not way-out fantasy. Then I should read a guidebook to NYC or we will just sit around twiddling our thumbs when we get there. Okay. Am I forgiven for disappearing? Can I brag up my DD now? Kiwi |
I remember Lola. She kept emailing me asking why no one liked her and what she could do to "belong." She was pretty pathetic and had no sense of humor, as I remember.
Kiwi, where in NC did you live? |
I lived in Charlotte from about 5th grade til graduation, then again for a few years later on.
Just got back from another evening at the coffeehouse with DD playing guitar and singing. The place is under new management and there was very little traffic, but what was there was very appreciative. The owner gave her a gift for entertaining. This has been the week of music. She's been practicing all week for show choir and the variety show, Wed. her h.s. jazz band went to a competition, last night was the high school variety show. At the variety show DD did 3 different numbers: played electric and sang with a friend ("Crow Left of the Murder", a new song by Incubus), sang a solo with another friend accompanying on piano--a complete surprise to us, and apparently sort of impromptu on their part (they did a beautiful, moving song called "My Immortal" by Evanescencelisten to it here ), and then she played acoustic guitar and sang an original song of her own. Unbelievable how good her voice has become; I think she really impressed a lot of people. The whole show would have been a lot better if they had not had a lot of sound system problems. Her original song was very hard to hear, but she played it again tonight and it was pretty amazing (I hadn't heard the whole song before; she kept it very hush-hush). I don't know where she gets all this talent and drive, but it sure is cool to watch. We're having a pool party on Sunday and we have room for more people. Who wants to come? I may not bring my bathing suit. I'll be too busy to swim, right? Kiwi |
Can you feel the love?
Happy Valentine's Day, darlings! Love you all. :) :) :) :) :)
Ooooooooooh -that prom dress is a dream. She's going to look stunning. Yahoo for Kiwi's DD! How wonderful to be able to sing like that. Do you think she has a musical career ahead of her? Tonight is dinner with the neighbours. What should I wear? There were cars parked all around their house last night - looked like a big party. I wonder if we're getting the leftovers? I'm so mean. I'm sure it will be a lovely, entertaining evening with a good time had by all. |
Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) I love these. Happy Valentine's Day everybody!! I slept too long, I'm all headachey. I've got to go shopping for junk food for tomorrow's party. I really should go up to the pool place and check things out too. I don't feel much like doing anything but hanging on the computer. Kiwi |
A pool party? in Maine? in the winter? How odd. Those Kiwi's are just the swingers of the snow belt.
Sugar, maybe they're recruiting people for some mysterious ponzi scheme. Don't give them any money. Or, maybe they've noticed how charming you are and want to be friends with you. Don't scoff..they could have gotten smarter after all these years. Where has Painty been? I have old lady feet and hands. They are really ugly. When did this happen? They are absolutely wrinkley. I'm going to go to the grocery store...bye |
Bought the new Anne Tyler....loooooong waiting list at library. Will be ready to discuss soon.
|
Painty is in Florida. I have too much to read first.
|
Kiwi, the backpack I'm trying to buy is due to end bidding at 3 p.m. my time on Tuesday. I'll be at work. Grrrrrr.
|
I was only away a day or two....
But you guys sure explained a lot. I'm glad that the dragons, thong photos and hurtful people are NOT HERE ANY MORE!
Not only am I back from Florida, I'm back from the depression I brought back with me. Whew. Am reading FOUR SEASONS... about three sisters who survive the death of the fourth. As an only child, I'm never sure how I feel about having missed out on extended family. I could vividly imagine sisters leaving with "their butts on fire" as Kiwi so aptly described the post Mikado crowd. It's been 38 years since HS prom. Jeez. DS got second tattoo... but maybe I told you all. "Veritas" which I think is kinda cool. Still doesn't have a clue about post-graduation self-support. I can lose weight AND maintain a sense of humor AND allow children to take care of themselves. I can. I can. I can. AIAIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :) |
KIWONKERS!!! that is so wonderful about DD!!!! so exciting---there is nothing i like better than watching the girls perform----we can be stage mothers together!!Right now,dd17 is practicing for "the music man"----and dd19 is in a play that is a musical at university--both to be performed late march, early april!!!!!!_------oh and to furthur shock you------ THE DRESS IS 460 CANADIAN }{THE LATE THREE HUNDRED'S AMERICAN}---HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!----I think i paid sixty bucks for my wedding dress at Fat Dalmy's.alsooooooooooo----------kiwonkers--------before i read your post last night,i had just played My Immortal about ten times on the stereo, singing it as loudly as i could!!!!!---I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR DD SING IT----DO YOU HAVE AN AUDIO TAPE OF IT???I HOPE YOU ARE TAPING THESE THINGS---- i have a tape of dd singing Superman by five for fighting----i am now in love with their song "one hundred years" and am TRYing to play it on the piano-----anywaayyyyyyyyyyyy ds and dh have gone skating,so i had better get something done in my nice QUIET house!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxo see ya tanks
|
Excellent about your girls, isn't it the most fun to watch them?
I don't have any audio tape of DD, I've been videotaping all of her stuff. She is going to be recording some of her songs though. She got recording software for the computer for her birthday. Gotta run -- party in 2 hours. I'm trying to print up some banners, which of course DD immediately vetoed, so I had to start over. So I added the happy birthday to "DD" and "DD's friend" and she informed me it was also for "X" and "Y". Oy. this kid drives me crazy sometimes. So I wrote "Happy Birthday! to you and you and you and you." Kiwi |
I want you all to know that I'm here so you don't talk behind my back.
|
ok, honestly, do any of u know anything about buying a backpack with a frame? What size for ds, etc?
The dress is beautiful for $350+ for one night's wear is a bad thing. Couldn't you find something at Frenchy's? |
actually i DID find a prom dress at frenchy's and one of dd's friends is MORE than happy to wear it------------------have you ever heard the word "spoiled"??????it is the main characteristic of most children in this neck of the woods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
