Hey, where'd my post go????????????????????????????????? I wrote a beautifully worded apology for calling Cowpeach obtuse (I didn't mean you were obtuse, just what you said, 'cuz I couldn't figure out whether it meant I should send you the letter or not), and it disappeared into thin air. I mean, this post was a literary masterpiece of thoughtful, touching sentiment destined to go down in history as one of the great epistolary creations of all time. And poof ~**~ it's gone, like a puff of smoke. So sad. Pity party commences at 1900 hours.

I just have this to say about Ralph Nader entering the race for president again -- he's an a**

Cowpernia 02-22-2004 10:02 PM

yes I agree. Unless he changes parties that is.

PainterWoman 02-23-2004 02:18 AM

I do NOT understand what Nader thinks he's gonna accomplish besides spending lots and lots of money to get listed in various primaries... His science is flawed, (he's more like Geraldo than Galileo!) and this seems to be mostly ego driven.

Leather Bound sounds kinky to me....anybody else game?
Today was good.... ate right. finished a book.... probably will be **** or Hestia to pay tomorrow... because the only domestic chore done by me was kitchen cleaning and dinner preparation.... Laundry is beginning to look like modern art sculpture in the laundry room.

Good week planned... in spite of mammogram! Hair cut, lunch with a good friend... plenty of clients..... at least for now. I'm ready to be a big (but smaller) success.

Berrypie 02-23-2004 10:08 AM

I've read everything but have no short term memory due to massive drugs. I think I agree with everyone.

Gallbladder gone, but kids remain. they are driving us nuts. like animals, they sense weakness and exploit. also MIL has chosen this weekend to predict her imminent demise.

have huge headache. also preop xray showed lung stuff. they did a ct scan in hospital but need more tests or something. kept asking if i had chronic bronchitis. wouldn't i know????

back to sleep
love you all

SugP 02-23-2004 11:05 AM

Frappe lives!!!!!

Poor you. Get well soon, darling! Don't let those kids give you any nonsense. They should be waiting on you hand and foot. And if MIL decides that this is her week to go, I doubt there's much you can do about it anyway. Wanna bet she hangs around for another 20 years or so? Dunno if you can have chronic bronchitis without knowing it. I guess they'll tell you. :smug:

No motivation to exercise. Still holding at 148.5 lbs.on a good day. Am reading a very heavy and weird book called "Handbook to Higher Consciousness" - totally beyond me. Something about reprogramming your biocomputer and upleveling addictions to preferences through Unconditional Love. Will let you know if I become enlightened. :dizzy:

My brother and SIL and nephew are buried in a blizzard in Halifax. As usual. They are moving back to Vancouver where there is no snow - everyone just rusts.

Bagzz 02-23-2004 01:21 PM

Sugar, put the book down when you weigh! Problem solved. I'm thinking everything is too deep for me. Living on the surface is so much easier.

Frappe, kids always hit you when you are in a weakened state. and mil thinks this is a threat??!!? Close your door, take some more drugs and don't worry, be happy. They will all be there when you feel up to dealing with them.

I ordered Bagzie's book "Gardens of Kyoto" from half.com. We could all read that or not. Any suggestions would be ok with me. How will we be able to get together for the food and drink? Kiwi, I can't be held responsible for mailing out anything. I can't even get my bills mailed out on time.

I hurt all over. I worked in the yard all day yesterday. I pruned, dormant sprayed and fertilized all my roses. I have a mess. I need to pull everything out and actually plan it instead of plunking in plants helter skelter. I also really want an irrigation system. Otherwise, half my plants die in the annual drought we have in August. DH has been steelhead fishing every Sunday for 3 weeks. He hasn't caught a thing. At this rate, the fish will cost $90 a pound. At least it keeps him out of trouble, and he feels so guilty for leaving me every Sunday, I can get anything I want out of him. Or at least dinner out on Sunday night.

Cherry Cow 02-23-2004 01:37 PM

Welcome back Frappie! I'm glad the surgery went well. I hope the X-Ray thing is minor. I bet you could have chronic bronchitis without knowing... do you seem to cough a lot after having a cold? Not that I know anything about it. I've had bronchitis once, but I've had other lung issues, like mild exercise-induced asthma. When I get a cough, I'm completely out of commission until it's gone. And I cough a lot when it's cold. If you have stuff like that, it could be what they're talking about.

Hi Sugar P! Your book sounds even more fascinating than this book I'm reading about libraries.

Today was Girl Scout cookie day.

Yeah, it makes me very angry, because this is supposedly an intelligent man who wants to improve the lot of this country, but instead he's just aiming for a repeat of the 2000 election. I don't have a problem with people running to make a point and try to rev up some support for alternative parties or views, but when the obvious result of any success of your campaign is to make the incumbent win, I don't see how that is in any way intelligent or responsible. I mean, the more votes that go to Nader, the fewer to the Democrat candidate -- he can't argue that point this time, because it was proven in 2000. He also can't argue that both parties are exactly the same, because a Bush White House has proven to be the opposite in every way to a Clinton White House. I could understand him running in the Democratic primaries, because then he could make his point and then lose like he's going to anyway, instead of throwing the election to the worst offender against what he believes in!! (one of his main points is that both major parties are nothing but corporate puppets) But of course he can't do that because he doesn't want to be identified with either party.

I think I have reached a new low in not doing laundry: DH did a load before he went in to work yesterday.

Glad you're back Frappe, hope the hordes let you recover!!

Oh no, Sugar, you've gotten your hands on the Super Secret Alien's Guide to the Human Psyche! You're in trouble now!

Gotta go sew some more costume pants. Had to rip a seam out of DD's -- goofed on my first try. Didn't I say I wasn't going to be doing any of the sewing? What's my problem anyway? (Don't answer that, Peachers)

It's that darn niceness curse.

Good grief, I suck at sewing.

Kiwonk 02-23-2004 06:28 PM

All right, somebody has to volunteer to take one of these "informal book club" letters off my hands. I can't send it back to my mother. And you know I have no IRL friends. Maybe I'll send them all to strangers. Doesn't anyone want 36 free books?

Must go back to pinning my fingers together. Ta

wabby!!! this book is BORING me to death---I am SORRY i seem to have recommended it somehow!!---i have an anne marie macdonald book i want to read=== i LOVED "fall on your knees"------------------Kiwonkers, i am afraid i would be a terrible candidate for your club-----as it stands,i was due to have this book finished in order to go to the 'club" meeting and I HATE IT AND REFUSE TO FINISH IT-----IT FEELS LIKE SCHOOL!!!! AND LIKE AN ASSIGNMENT!!!------------- i did what you are doing regarding costumes and finally had to beg my sister {who has a home ec degree] to finish my daughters dress {Lily in the secret garden] fortunately for dd ,the dress turned out beautifully instead of ghastly---------------- i HATE sewing!!!!!

Wabby 02-24-2004 12:37 PM

I used to love to sew when I had a little DD to do it for. She wouldn't be seen in a home sewn outfit now. Maybe I'll have a granddaughter some day waaaaay off in the future that I can make beautiful little dresses for.

Bagzie, don't feel responsible for recommending the book. Maybe I'll like it. It was only 75 cents for a "like new" hardback copy. That should have given me a clue.

SugP 02-24-2004 03:32 PM

sew sew

I used to be able to sew pretty well, but NOT pants. Pants are tooooo finicky.

My huzzzband, all 6'4" and 230 lbs of him, is in the living room right now doing...wait for it...Callanetics AND Pilates. Can you believe it? What a guy.

Kiwonk 02-24-2004 08:55 PM

Cool! Let's all go to Sugar's and watch :smoking: I'll bring the wine.

That's all right, Bagz, I wasn't the one wanting to start a book club, that was Painter. I'd be bad too; it takes me weeks to read books. I just wanted someone to take this book/chainletter thing. I haven't gotten rid of any yet. My friend who moved to Wabbit's neighborhood might be getting one, although I don't want her to stop speaking to me.

Actually these pants are pretty easy to sew -- they're kind of like clown pants or something. Too bad I'm so dopy I haven't finished a pair yet. I'm exhausted. I spent the whole afternoon cutting material again -- absolutely back-breaking. I need a nap. Oh yeah, I already took one. Well, I need to go to bed then.

Gads!

It's Ash Wednesday already. We completely forgot about Pancake Tuesday!!! It's a cow tradition that goes along with Boxing Day, hudda and the green shoe.

I made brownies yesterday. Won't even say how many I ate. Then I made brownies again today because the kids were complaining that they hardly got any yesterday. Let's face it. I'm a sugar addict. Must exercise today.

Wabby 02-25-2004 11:56 AM

Kiwi, if you have good sewing scissors, you can cut out more than one pair of pants at a time, if they're all the same size. How many do you have to make? I should post the photo of DD in the last halloween costume I made for her. It was a satin Snow White dress. She looked absolutely beautiful in it. She had the perfect Snow White hair and complexion. At one time I considered starting a business doing wedding dress and bridesmaid dress alterations and sewing. I came to my senses. :dizzy: I decided that it would take the fun out of sewing. Now I just do home decor sewing. Can't remember the last piece of clothing I made.

I need to picture the DH doing exercise. Is he wearing cute work out gear? ;)

Well, being the sewing-impaired person I am, I think that might spell disaster for me! I'm probably better off doing things one at a time, so if I screw up, I haven't used up all the material in one monumental goof (Did I tell you I've taken DD's pants apart twice? I figured out last that I sewed the waist where the bottom pants leg hems were supposed to be  Picture that! No wonder they looked so funny)

Yes, you should!!

I hope it's not leopard print spandex.... :s:

Gotta get back to the sewing machine and see what else I can mess up. Wish I had time to go outside and cross-country ski or snowshoe today -- it's beautiful, sunny and the snow is just beginning to melt.

Hi Sugar! Bummer we missed an opportunity for pancakes. I'm sure we'll make up for it somehow.... :hungry:

I was all excited about Kyoto Garden, but I guess I'll wait for another verdict!

Berry... hope your gall bladder is resting in peace, wherever it is... and that lungs clear up... I had walking pneumonia for about 2 months once before anybody noticed. A great dose of antibiotics and a few breathing treatments took care of it.

Am now reading Revenge of the Middle Aged Woman... too many interruptions (sleep and work... darn) to get really into it.

Laundry sculpture was de-constructed by darling husband... All laundry is presently washed, folded or dirty in hamper... No stray moguls of fabric on the floor.

Happy Lent... if that makes sense.
