Angie we ended up having cheese and bean enchiladas. Way to much cheese! But after all I am in dairyland :). You are doing terrific taking a three mile walk in winter. Go girl!!!!!! Btw I thought his response was so stupid.....he could of just said it was a mistake, bad judgement. But I still like some of his songs anyway. The kids and I like to dance to him. Dance=Excercise :D, not that I would want to anyone to see me dance.

Welcome Donna. These girls are my greatest girlfriends :)!

Noelle I hear you on the single thing. I think to myself how am I going to spend the rest of my life with this guy  ;)! He can be so, well I just won't get into it.

Kempy I think a salon environment would be fun to work in. It will be July before you know it. Hang in there and just keep thinking how much you are going to love being your own boss. Do you think you would ever remove hair on the big boss man ?

Have a great night girls.....Julie

chikitababe 02-02-2004 08:36 PM

Checking in again ladies :). Today was my first "good food" day in almost a month. I am trying to go back on the beach. I know that I eat WAY too much sugar. Right now I am sipping on a cup of Sugar-Free Swiss Miss (contains Splenda....not Asparatme (ICKY)) I have been trying to cut out the asparatme and replace it with Splenda. I think it's safer? I also got in a 4 mile walk with Leslie Sansone's WATP.

Angie,

Congrats on the good exercise day. I understand how hard it is to make it through one day on the right foot, not to mention a lifetime! This healthy way of life is soooooo challenging!

Kempy,

So, are you going to be a cosmetologist? The hair salon always seems like a female non-alcoholic version of a bar  . The cosmetologist is the listener. Really, you hear so many stories in a salon. I hope you like this line of work better than your current job! I know what you mean about fat shorts! Last summer I was at 156, and could not for the life of me fit my butt into my jean shorts. Hubby was always asking why I didn't wear the cute jean shorts....little did he know :o . Funny how we can gain weight and they don't notice.

Julie,

I hear ya! I wish I had a cook like Oprah does! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to afford a personal trainer, cook, housekeeper, and maseusse (sp?)!?

Noelle,

OH, but the Janet Jackson boob thing was an unplanned mishap, lol....ok. It didn't really shock me either. It was kinda quick, and had the tassle thing.

Hello to everyone else....have a great night!!

calnative 02-02-2004 11:16 PM

Hello Ladies,

I am feeling a bit better now. I still feel frustrated and a little depressed, but I am hanging in there. I had a long talk with hubbie last night and told him how I've been feeling. He was surprised, but very comforting. He said he's worried about me. Trying to get into losing some weight has not been easy. I feel so much stress right now that it is soooo difficult. I am so happy for all of you who have lost. I never weigh myself, but I've noticed that some things are not as tight. Saturday I took Ashley to Disney on Ice (Princesses) and the seat did not feel as tight as it did last year. :) I was actually comfortable. I'll keep going and eventually I'll be able to wear some of the things in my closet. (I have so many things that I haven't been able to wear for so long that it will be like having a closet full of new clothes).

Weather here is turning quite cold; not by Eastern standards, but cold nonetheless. :) Supposed to be only 55 tomorrow and Wednesday.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Cal

melekalikimaka 02-03-2004 02:30 AM

:grouphug: Cal :lucky: Hooray for non-scale victories!!! There are quite a few ways to measure weight-loss success that don't involve the number on a scale. I love finding "new" clothes in my closet or drawers when I start losing weight. Don't laugh but I just finished trying on some shorts in my one "saving them for later" drawer...I got one of 'em on and it was a size 13 jrs (notice I didn't say it fit?)...I must've hung on to that thing for almost 10 years! Now that I can get back into them (sort of), they're going into the give-away pile--they're much too short for me to wear now :o:   Anyways, don't stress too much about things :) Oooh, 55 degrees is cold...

Holly, WTG on your "good food" day! Does South beach require a lot of planning? I don't do too well if I have to think too much :dizzy:. I saw Bette Midler on a talk show not too long ago and she looked so tiny, said she lost a lot of weight on SBD. Good luck!!

Julie, i have a JT CD in my car :sssh:

chikitababe 02-03-2004 07:32 AM

Good morning!! Off to a good start...walked 4 miles. Have I mentioned how much I HATE SNOW!?? I know that is a harsh word, and snow is just about the only topic where I use the word, lol. We have a winter storm warning in effect for today and tonight. We could get another 5-10 inches. ICK, ICK, ICK  . I told my husband last night that every time it snows I am reminded why I want to move south. He said, well, it will never happen because I am not moving. I said too bad for you, lol.

Noelle,

Hmmm, the South Beach is pretty simple. There are 3 phases, and a food list for each. Basically you can eat as much as you want of the allowable foods in each phase (except those that specify limited amounts). I like the plan because I can eat veggies in phase I, and, unlike Atkins, it does NOT encourage high fat intake. I think Phase I is the hardest, but, in phase II you can have oatmeal and limited amounts of fruit. Phase I is only meant for 2 weeks....claims you can lose up to 13 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Lol re the short shorts. You don't dare where short shorts? (lol, nair commercial) I used to wear short shorts in high school, but, at 27..... Be careful what you give away for clothes! After I had my daughter in 8/01, I gave away alot of pants that were size 9 (I weighed 180), thinking those days were long gone. Now, here I am with drawers full of size 12's that are way too big, and 2 pair of smaller jeans that fit.

Cal,

Losing weight is hard! I think maintaining is equally as difficult! Try not to get discouraged. Oh, how I wish it were 55 here, lol. We had a heat wave yesterday, it was 30!!!

Hello to everyone!!

angieME 02-03-2004 08:33 AM

Holly, I am with you. I would love to be down South right now. I hate winter too. If I never have to see another one it will be too soon.

Noelle, I still have a pair of jeans from 1989 in my closet. They are brand new because I got fat directly after I bought them. Sad thing is that when I was 16 I weighed 128 now when I last got down to 130 the jeans would not fit(Not even close) but yet I was only 2 pounds heavier than high school. That will show ya how much extra skin I have.

Cal, I am glad you are starting to feel a bit better. I hate it when I get depressed about weight. That is actually why I hadnt been posting as much as usual, I felt like a failure when I couldnt even stick to my dieting until lunch. I realized that the more I post here and get to talk to all of you it definately keeps me focused. You sound like you are definately losing though. :cheer:

Julie, You guys have me dreaming now. If I ever won Megabucks I would hire a personal chef in a heartbeat. I think the thing that messes me up with eating healthy is actually having to think about my meals. That definately gets me off track.

Well, Yesterday me and Jay made it the whole day without any slip ups. I actually went to bed hungry. I hate that feeling but it hit about 30 minutes before I actually was going to sleep so I figured I shouldnt eat that close to bed.

Kempyd 02-03-2004 10:14 AM

Noelle that is so funny about your clothes. I have done the same thing a few times. I have a few shorts that I really like but I have a feeling they will be going soon. They crawl so far up my butt I lose sight of half the short. I just don't like the site of someone constantly pulling something out of their rear. :D

Holly you are welcome to head down here too. We do have a few months of winter but nothing like what you guys get. I am in school for electrolysis. There are to many high end spas to be a cosmatolagist. I don't really want to work in a place that big.

Cal I meant to say yesterday how much I hate the fact that they are pinning the students being out on the teachers. I agree it is the parents fault. I think people now are trying to pin the blame on anyone else but themselves. It sems like noboy thinks that anything is ever their fault. Ther are a few kids I see on my way to work that I think should be in school. Instead they are hanging out on the corners and doing god knows what. Makes ya feel really safe knowing that they will be the ones taking care of us when we are older.

Julie did you see Average Joe last night? I was tearing up at the end. I could tell she was having a hard time letting the old guys go. That is so sweet.

Hi Donna! Feel free to chime in whenever you want.

Angie I feel like I do better when I check in too. I know I need to but I get so lazy. I did get a 30 min. workout in yesterday and then when I got home I wasled the dogs. It was only for 20 mins but it was good to be doing something besides laying on the sofa. Joe is coming home tonight and my goal is to come back up here with him to lift weights. I like it when I get to workout with him. He pushes me in the areas I need pushing in. I am hopeing that the extra workout will kick things in gear.

jbbm 02-03-2004 11:38 AM

Good Morning Girls

We got another 3-5 inches last night so hus had to go in and plow. Well it is nice to have the bed myself sometimes. Well my son was with me but he is like a little heater.

Kempy I watched parts of the show last night. I just hate seeing the shy "nerdy" guys go. They have such good hearts. I was about to tear up too. I was happy to see at the very end the heavy guy lost 70 pounds. Asked how he did it and he said when he saw himself in the hottub. He will make some woman very happy someday.

Noelle, Hehehehe. Rock your body! My favorite one.

Cal hope you feel better soon. I get depressed sometimes too. I know its hard. Your in my thoughts.

Holly I have a drawer too, my hopeful drawer that I will fit into those clothes someday too. I actually have tons of clothes from high school. I really have to get rid of some things.

It would be great wouldn't Angie to have a personal chef. My hus when he cooks tops everything I mean everything with melted cheese. Not good for the diet!

Chat later girls....Julie

Hi guys! I had such a busy weekend, and had to leave town sunday, got back yesterday. My cousin is a dentist in a town 3 hours from here, and we dont have dental insurance, so he lets us make payments. So yesterday that's what I was doing.. hate going to the dentist hehe.

I was sad about the superbowl, I wanted Carolina to win :( O well.. haha, Noelle, the boob didn't shock me either. I don't know why people actually call and complain to the network. I guess I just don't see the big deal anymore, sex and nudity is everywhere *shrug*.

Angie, I hear ya about shorts weather. I dread summer every single year... even last year, at a whole whopping 125 pounds, I dreaded putting on shorts :( I agree though, the sooner you tone up so you are not so self conscious , the better.

Hiya Cal, hope you are feeling better. Julie congrats on your loss, and Noelle too! I need to go back and reread the end of the old thread, and read all the posts on this new one.. but I gotta get back to work. I will check back in later girls :)

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I知 looking forward to getting support and inspiration from you all (as well as provide some myself!).

A little bit about me: I知 43 and live in northern New Jersey. I知 married with no children (except my husband! ) and one dog. I知 a graphic designer and recently left the corporate world after 20 years to start my own business designing invitations, wedding programs, customized cards, etc.

I致e struggled with my weight for most of my adult life and realize that it痴 all about making the right lifestyle choices rather than going on strict (and useless) diets.

I知 looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Good afternoon girlies!! Me and Jay walked 3 miles today in total. I am so out of shape!! How can a month off make such a big difference? I am still OP(except for right now I am so hungry that my stomach is growling so I ate a little bowl of WOW chips)But I guess if I am hungry it cant hurt too bad.

Kempy, I hear ya. I am so happy to just be moving again. It definately makes a difference in my outlook. I need to wash my dogs but I hate to do it. Candi has a LOT of hair.

Julie, Your husband has good taste. haha. I could put cheese on ANYTHING and be happy. Sorry to hear that you guys got more snow. That must suck. Tonight it is supposed to snow here and then turn to rain and ice for all day tomorrow. YIPPEE!! I will have to work out inside then. YUCK!!

Tonya, I cant believe people called and complained either. It happened so fast that I didnt think it was her real boob myself. Some people just complain to complain I think.

Donna, Hi. I am 31,married with 3 kids,2 dogs and 6 cats. I am a baker and I have always had a weight problem but it escelated for me when I met my husband(His family all are in the bakery business. ;) ) I got up to 265 pounds at one point and then I got down to 130 pounds and then back up to 206 and then down to 138 and now I am back at about 165 so I am in the process of losing all my "holiday" weight. I really need to figure out how to stop the yoyo-ing but I go through phases where I can diet easily then I get close to my goal and I start to incorporate sweets back in and then I turn into an eating machine and lose the groove until I gain a good chunk back.

melekalikimaka 02-03-2004 04:57 PM

Angie, re: JJ's right ( * ) was "it" really "real"? I gotta run and pick up my son, I'll be back later I promise :D

calnative 02-03-2004 09:19 PM

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I'm so happy to have all of you.

We did get some rain today and the high was about 55. Cool, but not really cold. It's still pretty cloudy out, so maybe we'll get some more rain tonight.

Hi Donna and welcome. These girls are the greatest. I'm 45 with 2 children (we count hubbies, right? ) My daughter, Ashley, is 6 years old. No pets yet, but if Ashley had her way we'd have a farm. I'm a 7th grade Language Arts teacher at an inner city school in Phoenix, Arizona. I love to travel and we go to Europe a lot because my husband is from Venice, Italy. We take Ashley there as often as possible so she can get to know her relatives there.
I look forward to getting to know you.

All you girls talking about keeping clothes from high school. If I'd kept anything it would now be in style again. I graduated in 1977 and it seems that everything 70's is coming back into style.

I am feeling so much better. I did ok today. For lunch I had a taco salad minus the shell (only lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, and a little meat). Very filling; only ate 1/2 of it. For breakfast I usually have a Slim Fast shake because I'm not a breakfast person. I only have that so I have at least something that is healthy. For dinner we had rice, cheese, broccoli, carrots, and squash. So far, a great day and evening.

Take care.

Cal

angieME 02-04-2004 09:32 AM

Good Morning. We got some snow last night and now it is teasing me(they never get around to plowing the sidewalks in my town) so it is warmer out but everything(including the ice  ) is covered in snow. I did great yesterday. I give Jay so much credit for helping me out. It is so nice to have someone else trying to do it with me. He is the one who recommended the second walk yesterday. I am so lucky that I found him.

Cal, Your high of 55 must feel like winter to us,huh? You did awesome yesterday!! You will have to bring Ashley to visit us sometime. We might as well have a farm with all our pets.

I hope everyone has an awesome day today. We can all do this!!

chikitababe 02-04-2004 10:18 AM

Good morning! Well, so far I am 3 for 3 this week, well, after today, lol. I walked 4 miles M,T,W. I was walking 6 miles in the summer, but, found that it did not speed my weight loss, only made me sore and achy.

Angie,

I know what you mean about being hungry!! Last night my husband came home from work with (2) 1/2 gallons of ice cream, Oreo cookie and Mint Chocolate chip, and a box of devils cream cakes!! I said, man, you are not helping me out at all!! BUT, I didn't eat a bite of any of it. I ate my crab legs, peas, and sugar free strawberry jello. The hard part of the South Beach Diet for me is the no sugar, no cereal, and no chocolate (unless it's sugar free, and that gives me a belly ache). A good part of it is that I can have 2 tbs. natural peanut butter a day, and I LOVE peanutbutter! We got so much snow yesterday (8 inches), and today it's 30 and sunny. I think this is the most snow we have had in years!!

Tonya,

I wanted Carolina to win as well! I figured New England won 2 years ago, let the underdogs have a chance. It was so close though.

Donna,

Hi! I am 27, married with 3 children (7,4, 2 1/2), and am going back to work after 4 months of layoff next week. I live in the not so lovely New York State, where it's always winter, lol.

Hope everyone is having a great day! I'll check in later.

Holly
