This is a sure sign of how boring we are - we don't have another subject to change to.

We could talk about my Mandarin Chicken salad I got from Wendy's today. The lettuce was not fresh, it was wet, and a couple pieces of the chicken had that nasty grissley stuff on it. I still ate every last bit of it. Let's discuss my spelling of grissley.

So far today I have -
Made bed, picked up bedroom.
Wiped down my bathroom counters.
Loaded morning dishes and wiped kitchen counters.
Put doggies in kennel.
Gone to the post office, mailed a package and bought stamps.
Mailed my bills off.
Stopped by the Goodwill and dropped off a couple bags of clothes.
Picked up a prescription.
Dropped off my library books.
Vacuumed the office.
Wiped down front counter.
Entered accts. payable in computer.
Filed all my accts. payables.
Ate a soggy salad.

I'm procrastinating on doing a couple qtrly tax reports. I still have until tomorrow to get them done. Guess when I'll do them.

I think I deserve to read my book for awhile. I just finished Good in Bed and Slammerkin. Both really good books. Both an easy read. I'm working on Empire Falls, which is about a mill town in Maine - Kiwi have you read this one?- and The Interpreter of Maladies which is a Pulitzer prize winning book of short stories. I've been trying to read Atlas Shrugged which I understand is supposed to be a great literary work, but I just can't get into it.

Anyone read any good books lately?

I don't like Atlas Shrugged but am now reading The Wonder Book of Air by Cynthia Shearer and love it a lot

Uou have done a lot, Wabbo. I have eaten popcorn and sanwich and lots of Earl Gray tea. Had the builder stop over to get the ceiling fan going. It involved switches, chains and a remote and we didn't find the right combo, DS and I. Then I watched Casablanca. And now I am a puddle.

The builder told me not to waste my $ on Rid-X as the ceptic tank already has bacteria in it. He said to get it drained every 3-5 years unless I use the garbage disposal a lot then do it every year. He has seen 18 inches of grease in tanks where people said they don't put grease down the drain. What fun is this? Why have this stuff if you can't use it?

Umm... hi. I hope I don't kill this thread too.

Wabby, I'll join your challenge. That will give me three pounds left to go to reach my new year goal.

Peachy, at this point, there is NOTHING entertaining about marching band!! It is sucking away our will to live! Just kidding- sorta.

Hi Bagzie, Kiwi, Sugar & all.

Oh, I get it, the guy's a complete moron. Why didn't you say so?

Leave it to Ft. W. Bch to have pink witches! How progressive!

Wabby, you are a good girl. (Did you really do all those things? Are you on speed or something?)

I haven't read any of those, except Atlas Shrugged. For that one, you have to have about a month free of other activities, plus a clear mind. Oy. I read it back when i had a mind.

I read schlock now. Good schlock. Right now it's Maeve Binchy. Nice and fluffy. Also I'm reading a collection of short stories by a Maine author. It's called Officer Friendly. I got it because of the name. We have an Officer Malcolm that should be called Officer Friendly.

I made an excellent crockpot beef stew today. I didn't use a recipe. Maybe that's where I've been going wrong lately -- bothering with recipes. I just threw in beef and onions, sprinkled them with flour, salt and pepper, tossed them to coat the pieces, and started the crockpot. Then I threw in 2 huge carrots, 2 huge potatoes, what was left of a bunch of celery, a little can of V-8 mixed with a small spoonful of beef bouillon paste and some hot water. Then I yanked an old bay leaf off the decoration hanging over my sink (the dust makes it all very special), tossed that in, plopped the cover on and drove to guitar lessons. 4 hours later, we had delicious stew. DH raved.

a purple puddle?

Hi Cherry! Tonight is the last regular high school football game here. Aren't you done with that marching soon? DD plays in the pep band -- they don't have to march, thank goodness. They also don't have to go to away games. It's all a little too easy. Not that I'm complaining. It's mighty cold this time of year when they do play -- playoffs are coming right up and our school's in them, so she'll be freezing her little fingers off.

DD is going to school in a white halter top, slinky tight knit pink skirt, strappy high heeled sandals, pearls and my great-aunt's old beaver coat. What do we think this costume is supposed to be? I'll take votes all day.

Here's something I didn't know about until recently. www.film.com is an online film festival. A local boy (I don't know him) has a film there "Fall of a Saga" but I can't get it to play. It might be a fun site if it works for you.

Hmmmm. A good excuse to look like a hottie on a school day? Where's the pictures?

Cherry are we going for Dec. 9 or winter solstice? Bagzie you need to get back here and start counting points too. And the rest of you too.

Kiwi, your stew sounds so yummy, I may just have to make something like that this weekend. Only problem is, my crockpot's crock broke. It took me about 6 months to finally throw it out. The replacement crock would cost more than buying a whole new one. I guess I've given up on finishing Atlas Shrugged. The library website won't let me renew it. Apparently they think that I should have finished it by now - I checked it out in June!! Somebody needs to come here and post something amusing - otherwise you're stuck reading my drivel. The weather has turned wintry - poor little trick or treaters.

She is also carrying a gold lamé evening purse with chain handle, and wearing bright red lipstick. Peaches is getting warm.

Went to a friend's mother's funeral today -- down in the bigcity. Had excellent lunch with DH and just got back a little while ago.
Then tonight we are taking 3 girls to a Halloween party at the coffeehouse where DD sometimes plays the guitar. That's another hour drive each way.
Guess I'll make DD do some of that driving. If she can drive in high-heeled sandals.
There was absolutely nothing whatsoever for teens to do tonight in our town, so I offered to drag everybody to this 'do. Hope it's worth it.

I may wear a plush kangaroo. Do you think this would be a good look for me?

Picture tooken this morning. Ain't been developed. Someday we will get us one a dem new-fangled gigidle camrys and put em peektures right up onna web.

Kisses
Kiwi

P.S. Incredibly, we are having really nice weather for Halloween. This is the first time ever that I remember a Halloween that wasn't either pouring rain or freezing cold. And I'm too old to trick or treat.
