Morning all. Back to Monday.

My weekend was fine, if a bit dull. I went to the aqua fit class early Saturday morning. It was a good class, and there’s also a baby swim class in the small little pool next to the big one we were in. It was cute to see what they do in that class to get the babies acclimated to being in the water.

Later in the morning I went to the library to drop off some books & pick up some new ones. After that I went to the Land’s End outlet store to return a couple items. I shopped the clearance racks and ended up with a tankini top (black with white polka dots) to wear with my black swim shorts. I also went to the Eddie Bauer outlet store across the street and bought a few tops. Nowhere near the amount of shopping I need to do to replace my sorry-looking wardrobe....

I stopped on the way home for lunch at Wendy’s and then at Nothing Bundt Cakes for a BOGO on their bundtlets. I went out in the back yard for a bit and pulled some weeds and unwanted seedlings from the back fence area. Long way to go until it’s cleared. Bf intends to use the tiller to remove the growth, but I think the vines will totally wreck the tiller - I can just imagine the vines getting wrapped around the blades and burning out the engine.

Bf was at his mom’s all day long cleaning up the tiny fenced yard outside her sliding doors. Apparently the management company for these apartments only mows the lawn and nothing more. So the flower beds were overgrown, vines and weeds were encroaching from the other side of her fence, and the grass was weedy. Bf dug everything out of the flower beds and replaced the rotting timbers that form the edging of the beds (with damaged cedar fence posts removed during repairs to our fence – he sawed off the damaged ends and cut them to size). He laid down weed cloth and covered it with rubber mulch. He sprayed weed killer on the lawn. He didn’t get back until well after 7 and we ate a late dinner (carryout).

Sunday afternoon I pruned the lilac bush at the south corner of the house, and the hydrangea next to it. The soil was still too moist in the area where I want to finish removing the day lilies, so that didn’t get done.

I cycled to the farmers market late in the morning and took a quick walk through it. They had some early produce that seemed too early – corn, peaches, blueberries, etc. The only thing in season was cherries, and they were pricey. I didn’t buy anything.

Also did some laundry and reading, fell asleep on the sofa recliner, and that was it for Sunday.

I woke up this morning with a neck ache and a head ache. I think I’m clenching the right side of my jaw while I sleep and that’s what’s causing the head ache – happened once last week too. My neck is still sore. And I forgot my cell phone at home this morning. Bleh. Not the best start to the work week.

I have an appointment with the orthopedic dr re my foot on Thursday afternoon. I’m taking a half day of vacation on Thursday, just not in the mood for the boss to grudgingly approve a half day for medical. And I just want the time off. Wish I could take that Friday off too, and then Monday and then the rest of the week of the 4th off work, but I have no specific plans and this is a busier time at work for me, so I guess I’m settling for that half day on Thursday and will think some more about Monday.

Bf told me it was suggested to him to get a (brick) mason, not a concrete person, to replace that limestone sill in our front doorway, so he will make some calls about that.

Our SUV has been in the shop for several days for a number of things, and thank goodness all of it will be covered by our extended warranty, less a $100 deductible. Based on the amount of repairs being done, the warranty has now paid for itself. We’re also having the thirty thousand mile work done, but that’s not covered.

That’s about it for me. On to personals.

==
Ceejay – I’m glad you enjoyed your reunion. Sorry you bff wasn’t up for activity while you were in town. It probably makes you count your blessings that you have good health and are able to be active. Safe travels on your drive home!

Susie – Great NSV at Kings Island!! I’m sure that was so motivating to you! Saw on FB you’re having water heater problems – I hope you find a replacement that fits into your space! I believe our water heater’s on borrowed time. They have a surprisingly short life, and I confess we don’t do the maintenance that’s suggested – annual draining, etc. == Yes, I did the aqua class on Saturday. It was a good workout.

Annie – You had a busy weekend, as usual. I bet the boys were cute at that wedding. And cute notes between you and S! == We have Netflix, I might have to watch Trolls. :D

Happy – Good point about maybe some more of the senior center employees should be able to personally identify with senior citizen issues… LOL, black bear décor. Cute. – People sure are nervy – actually moving the ropes and parking in those spots roped off specifically for the thrift shop employees. I’d have them towed and ticketed!! == Must be very entertaining watching all those baby animals visiting your house. My mom's been enjoying the baby swans (cygnets) on the pond her apartment overlooks :) == Good luck to dh with his night fishing outing. :crossed: == BF will go back to my mom’s plumbing job on Wednesday when they will shut down the water for one HOUR so he can replace the hot water shutoff valve and get back to the project. Yeh, the mineral deposits are the culprit in those pipes.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Giggly Wiggly....

55 degree ride into work with heat on. Burr. In December we would of thought 55 was a heat wave.

Had to have a blood draw for my July appt with primary care. Just a check up. Also had to have blood drawn for my liver specialist. 7 viles of blood. I am sucked dry. Now I think I have a bladder or UTI as am having those issues that come with that happening. Bleh. Don't know whether to call the primary care or just go to a clinic.

I made a chicken/ham casserole, fried radishes and a salad for dinner last night. I also made a dijon spread for the casserole but let the group add their own to their casserole. Sam is not a mustard fan and really I am not either but this tasted kind of good and was not overwhelming. C thought it was fabulous and couldn't believe I made the spread. I laughed a lot in my head cause all it was...mayo, dijon mustard and a little broth to thin it out a bit. He said he thought he would like the spread better with baked chicken than my tartar sauce I make. Another laugh. Mayo, cocktail sauce, tiny bit of pickle relish. hahahahhaha. I am magical. Poof!

C bought two of the 6 tires for his box truck yesterday and had them mounted. 715.50, yikes, money in, money out. We are going to do this every couple of weeks till all 6 are done. Just another fine reason to sale his route and truck. Of course once we have the tires and back brakes done, it will be good for a while. At least we can sale it in good standings and a clear conscious. Life goes on, right?

LAURA...I would of been so caught up in watching the babies at aqua fitness that I would not have done the class. Of course, any reason for me not to exercise...haha. Hope BF is successful repairing momma's valve with only an hour to do it in. Freak out! Time limits make me anxious. BF sounds like an all around handy man to have around. Have you decided what you are doing with the limestone repair? Hey I have thee best recliner to sleep in and no aches or pains when you awaken. You are welcome to use mine anytime. Did I miss something? What is going on with your SUV? What repairs are you having done?

HAPPY...yep I get the two job thing. Working full time at Humana then part time at CVS. What a strain. I look back on that and wonder how I did it. I was so exhausted all the time. I will give Sam and Chris credit for not discussing anything in front of the kids. There is no fighting or arguing going on at all either. C and I don't even talk about any of that either in front of the kids or otherwise. Once again, even tho we are exposed to the BS, IT IS NOT OUR DRAMA. That is hard sometimes for me to just let it go and keep my thoughts to myself. C on the other hand is usually oblivious to life. haha. Girl, now I know you are Wonder Woman. Running bingo by yourself. Enough of that sister. Take DH along to help! Bah :) We had our little street festival this past weekend also. Old Wanamaker Days. Wanamaker is the name of the little town the next street over from us. It is also a car show. We didn't get to go as we were busy all weekend. I have missed it the past several years, maybe next year we can attend. How did DH do on his fishing trip? Catch any this time? Getting his money's worth at least. :) How are your knees and feet holding up with all this extra work you are doing?

Hi to all you beauties!

Best get busy, don't know how long I will be here. May leave and go off to the clinic.

Hugs to all.

Good morning chicks of the world :D

Sleeping lousy lately. Wake up all achey and hurting - just like winter again. Although it has been cool and rainy. My precious peaches came yesterday - I usually get them from the truck that comes here once a year but the peaches (best ever from Georgia) did not have a good blooming season so the truck only is getting about 10 percent of what it typically would. By the time they get up to us, they probably will be sold out so I made the splurge and ordered a gift box of 13 peaches. $22 for shipping alone!!!! Peaches should have been here Friday but because I live in Boondocks Wisconsin just past where God Lost His Shoes, it took an extra day to deliver and the peaches sat in a truck somewhere for 3 days. Came yesterday and 5 of the 13 were molded or bruised. I called the company and they said OMG you should have had 2 day shipping which was $33 dollars - heck I don't think I would have paid that at all. That makes each peach $3 a piece  So I had to pay the extra $11 and they are sending me a replacement box to come on Thursday. The ladies were here to do our landscaping and I gave them each one of the good peaches. Juice was running down their arms - that's how GOOD these peaches are. The landscaping looks nice, DH said it's a little sparse but you have to leave lots of room for things to grow and mature. I will take pictures when it's done. Looks nice to me. We had about 8 deer feeding yesterday and thankfully they all left the new stuff alone. I'd hate to have to shoot them (with a pellet gun) - more like I'd blow the air horn! DH went out again last night fishing and nothing - not even a nibble. His guide said it is not easy to catch Musky so they will keep trying. He said he had a good time anyway and that's what matters - he is learning alot too. I went grocery shopping yesterday - 2 full carts. I had NOTHING left in this house. Now we have breakfast items, lots of nice fresh fruit and good things to eat this week. I HATE grocery shopping. My friend the president of the Humane Society was at the store and she helped me schlep my groceries into the car. And the Vice President of the Humane Society was the one doing my landscaping. I said what a team effort

Annie - I did buy 2 bunches of beautiful radishes. Will you tell me how you fry them up? LOL on C loving the sauce - when you get right down to it, sauces are very basic and easy and tasty. When I pan fry a steak I add some heavy cream to the pan, scrape up the brown bits and add some dijon mustard, salt and pepper and make a sauce that DH just loves too. Interesting that you put cocktail sauce in your tartar - I will have to try that. I do lemon juice, parsley, relish, mayo and salt and pepper and sometimes a touch of onion powder. Mrs. Paul's had the BEST powder packet of tartar seasonings - I bought the frozen fish sticks just for that tartar packet  ROFL - you and me both watching the little kids swimming - sometimes I would see them in the pool getting lessons and they were not only funny but also just FEARLESS. It was great fun. I hope you are not all pale today from all that blood sucked out of you. Put on some really red lipstick to enhance it - :lol3: Yikes - no wonder you are cold. I put the heat on yesterday also to take the chill out of the house. Some kind of summer - huh?

Laura - bet your swim suit is cute - I love a white background with black polka dots with a black bottom. Very chic! You sure were busy over the weekend. Bummer that you have to use a vacation day for a medical appointment. Used to be that unless someone abused things, it was pretty much an honor system and no hassles - not any more. Do you have a night guard to help with the mouth clenching? Although those things make me gag - can't sleep with something in my mouth. I hope your tension headache eased up. A brick mason might be expensive but I think it would like very nice and because there's some room between bricks it might hold up better with expansion and the house shifting although it might be harder to shovel in the winter. Always an issue, huh?

Hello to the rest of the chicks. I am on my own at the Thrift Shop this morning - my partner decided she had enough of the drama and left for good and my other friend who was helping me switched to Mondays to help out another volunteer who is on a 3 week Alaskan cruise (must be nice!!!) The pricing ladies are in the shop so I can get help if I need it but it will be a busy day. I have something important to do tomorrow and for the life of me, it keeps escaping my head.

Check out DH's Facebook page - he is posting pictures of the baby animals as he catches them.

Have a good one ladies!

Morning,
Nephew called me at 7 this morning wanting to come by. I think he's home for the most part. He took me to breakfast at MCD then he took a shower and went to work. We've have bonded.
I told my sis that all my bff did was get up at 6.30 take her meds, eat and go back to sleep. woke up in time for her next dose of meds and the rotation kept on. Happy, I do think she's depressed. She says she has to keep the room temperature at a certain degree's but she's all covered up with blankets. Just her head showing. Made a picture cause it looked like she was laying a coffin and texted it to my sis. I'm very pleased to have decided to move up here. That's what I would have been dealing with if I had stayed down there.

------------
Happy
Wow, for the bingo night by yourself. How many hours do you volunteer for the senior center?

Laura
Hope the orthopedic can help you get some relief with your foot. did bf get the fence row cleaned out for his mom.

Susie
Read about the hot water heater on FB. Did you get that problem resolved? Glad it didn't flood and cause damage.

Annie
What a great day to start the day finding a note on the Kurig from your daughter. So glad that ya'll have a good relationship.

-------
I'm happy, healthy, and blessed to be back home with my family. Also talked to nephew about having the 4th celebration at my house this year. The city is having fireworks in the park and I'm almost sure that we could hear the band and see the fireworks from my house. I'm not far from the park. My first celebration with family for the 4th.

Laura705 06-27-2017 01:27 PM

Morning all.

Yes, I talk about this being a busy time for me at work, but I just had to spend some time cleaning my keyboard just now. I disconnected it and shook it out, sprayed it with compressed air and wiped it with a damp cloth, but it still looked nasty underneath the keys. I pulled a couple keys off and there was a collection of dust bunnies with bits of junk in them that were large and didn’t get blown out. Yuck. Much better now, though I might have messed up my space bar. In which case, I may need to ask for a new keyboard…

I felt lousy all day yesterday between the neck ache and the headache. Every time I coughed or bent over my head had pain on the one side. Bf said it sounded like a migraine, but I knew it was from the clenching while I slept. Happy, I do wear a night guard, but I have a tendency to sleep on my side with my hand under the side of my face and I think that was sort of squishing my jaw into a bad position. Last night I made a point of not sleeping that way and I don’t have pain today. However, I didn’t have the most restful night’s sleep.

I didn’t do my planks last night because of feeling crummy. Tonight I have my aqua class, so I’ll see if I can squeeze in the planks before and after class. I’ve kind of lost my motivation for this challenge, but I think I’ll at least attempt yesterday’s, which was 1:55 and tomorrow I’ll do the 2 minutes and that’ll be it for me. Saturday was 1:50 and the first time I had trouble with the front planks, but I’ll try my best on these last two times and call it done, even if Friday (end of June) is the last day of the challenge. The two minute ones are done for the final four days which seems kind of lame. Not that I’m up for increasing the times. This really was a challenge because I was not in any kind of shape when I started it.

Okay, enough rambling.

Annie – Yeh, it’s been chilly temps lately, but I’m loving it, especially since it hasn’t been raining. == Yikes, 7 vials of blood! :Dracula: == Boo on the UTI. I just went to a benefits overview a couple weeks ago at work and they announced sort of sheepishly that they didn’t publicize a new benefit that took effect with our new benefit year (January), which is seeing a doctor via face time - a virtual doctor visit. But I guess a UTI might not be the type of thing they could treat that way since they take urine samples for that…but it might come in handy for something else. We’ll see. == You always have something tasty prepared for dinner. Yesterday bf and I couldn’t even manage to heat our frozen steak and stout pies (Trader Joe’s) without goofing up. I opened the package and handed the pies directly to bf, who put them on the cookie sheet covered with parchment (teamwork). It was only when he removed them from the oven that he realized “we” hadn’t removed the plastic wrap covering each one. Okay, I will take partial blame for failing to notice that he didn’t remove the plastic but just plopped them on the cookie sheet, but he is also to blame. It didn’t wreck the food – the plastic sort of shrunk away and was its own separate blob on the parchment. == Good way to tackle the tire replacement, and it’s not so far apart that the new tires will be wearing unevenly. – BF has replaced shutoff valves in the past, so hopefully it’s as quick as other times. Just knowing there’s only an hour to do that makes me nervous… -- As for the limestone repair, bf had someone out yesterday and we will get a quote today. Hope it’s not anything crazy. == The SUV had a few things going on. There was a bad stale smell coming from the air vents and then about a week ago, we had water leaking from the HVAC system hoses onto the floor in front and bf determined that the part of the system that drains the moisture out of the car was clogged, but he couldn’t do that repair himself. Another thing was a hose issue with the power steering pump that caused the fluid level to be low that the service guy discovered - there was actually a service bulletin issued for that, sort of like a recall but no notice is mailed out. And then our sunroof motor seemed slow. Bf had it checked at the dealer a while back but the service guy said it was slower because it was a big piece of glass. Lame explanation. In hindsight, bf said he should have made the guy open and close the sunroof on another car (same model) in their showroom for comparison purposes, and that’s what he would do this time, but this time a different guy is managing the service area and he agreed there was an issue. But they send the cars out for sunroof work, so that’s added time… We also had to do the 30,000 mile transmission service. And replaced the wiper blades. Yup, a whole laundry list of items.

Happy – I’d love to see the landscaping when it’s complete. == Oh those are expensive peaches, but they sound like they just might be worth it, especially if they are delivered to your door! It’s just the timing… == I guess your dh will become good buddies with his fishing guide… -- Wow, that’s a lot of groceries!! I don’t think I’ve ever had more than one cart, even when we’re having a party. == I just took the half day vacation because I don’t want to deal with the boss’s attitude like I’m taking advantage of medical time off when I’m NOT. He’s very untrusting. He will enter a sick day for us into the absence management system himself that very day instead of waiting for us to get back into the office the next day and do it ourselves. Like he thinks we’ll forget or are deliberately going to not do it. == Good luck at the thrift shop today on your own - ask for help when you need it!!!

Ceejay - How fund to host a 4th of July cookout at your place! That's a fun holiday to entertain family - it's casual and (hopefully) outdoors. == I hope your bff gets some help - that's no way for her to exist. :(

Shad – Saw on FB that your cat is having dental issues. Poor baby! Hope the surgery went well.

==
We just received an email from HR telling us they are closing the office on Monday the 3rd so we can have a 4-day holiday weekend. :carrot: We were just discussing that in our department meeting yesterday…

The admin returns to work tomorrow. I didn’t remember to get to the dollar store last night until it was too late (10 min before closing time). I wanted some sort of decoration I could use for a welcome back message and I know the store I go to has a section with teacher’s supplies. I was hoping to find a set of colorful alphabet letters I could use to spell out “welcome back” in her cube. Or maybe a balloon. But I guess I’ll just go to the florist in our building and buy her a little plant – maybe a lucky bamboo. I think she had one of those for a while and I don’t know what happened to it. Anyway, I want it to be waiting there for her when she gets in tomorrow, and she always arrives earlier than me, so I’ll do that today.

That’s it for me. Hellos to the rest of you, and everyone have a great day.

annie175 06-28-2017 08:32 AM

What a miserable evening/night. Went to the clinic as my doc had no openings yesterday. Dysuria and acute UTI. Good gracious. No wonder I screamed like a commache' when I P'd. Got three doses of meds in me and the pain has subsided. Beautiful orange urine too! lol. Guess it is time to see an urologist. This make #5 since last September. Geez get one thing fixed or tolerable and something else goes wacko. And to think I am only in my 50s. 60s and 70s will really be awful or hopefully everything will be fixed! yeah?

The fam ordered pizza from the little local shop. S and I just ate the toppings. Wasn't really in the mood for Za but definitely didn't want to cook. The boys wanted waffles. Thankfully we had the toaster kind. Jacob eats his dry and plain. Royce eats his with dip only (maple syrup to the rest of us). I stayed in bed most of the evening, dozing off and on. Finally konked out around 8:30 but woke back up at 10:30 and moved to the couch.

LAURA...glad the admin is well enough to come back to work. Will that ease up some of your workload? Nice of you to decorate her area for her return. We have the virtual MD thing also but have never used it. That to me is like googling your symptoms and hoping for the best. Maybe I should try it to see if it works. Wonder if they can prescribe or just able to tell you what might be wrong with you and to see your normal doc? I was laughing at your steak pies with the plastic wrap. Def BFs fault. haha At least they were edible and not a waste. Things are not cheap at TJs IMO. Sometimes electrical things move slow when the battery is going bad. Just sayin' Might have that checked. (The car battery) Good luck on the masonary fees. Hopefully not to bad. My keyboard cleaning happens about every other month. If I can't stand to look at it, it is time to clean. :)

CEEG...you think nephew is home for the most part? Your home or his home with wife? The 4th celebration at your place sounds like fun. Too bad we don't live closer.

HAPPY...wow that is mighty expensive peaches. Still cheaper than driving to Georgia I suppose. :) I remember visiting my brother, Michael when he was stationed in the air force in GA and being there in time to get pecans. YUM, probably one of my favorite nuts (excluding family nuts, lol) right up there with hazelnuts. YUMMY! Pretty good memory since I was only about 14 years old at the time. Radishes...just melt some real butter (generous tablespoon) in a pan, clean and cut radishes in 1/4's throw them in and cook slowly with lid on. Salt (I use pink hymalayin salt) and pepper. I do add chopped onion in with the radishes from the start and then cooked bacon towards the end (I use store bought real bacon bits, easier and less messy). Also when they are just about done I remove the lid and let them cook up a bit. Not cooked dry tho. Stir/flip/toss now and again so they don't burn. I have also added chopped carrot and/or green pepper before. It is all good. Is your senior center volunteer days over since they hired a gal?

That's about it for me. Hope you all have a marelous hump day/night.

Hugs

Morning all.

Annie – I hope the meds wipe out that UTI lickety split, sounds like a really bad one. == I’d picked up a couple things that were the admin’s duty, so she’ll take those back and it’ll be good to have them off my plate. This is still a busy time for me though... == Let me know if you try the virtual MD thing. If they won’t prescribe anything on that basis though, forget it. I’d rather just go to a pharmacy clinic. == I hope the SUV's battery is okay, nothing else was running slow… They probably checked that already. == I think I’ll put a monthly reminder in my calendar at work to clean the keyboard. Don’t need all that dust and crumbs accumulating like that…

Shad – I saw on fb that your cat made it through the surgery. Good news. :) I just hope you both don't have to eat cat food after that expensive surgery, LOL.

Hellos to the rest of you!
==
I went to my aqua fit class last night and it was good. This instructor changes things up each class and I like that.

I skipped the planks again last night. I was whooped after the aqua class. I don’t have anything going on tonight so I’ll see if I feel like getting back to it.

We have two quotes for the sill replacement, both in the $600 range. :faint: Turns out the new block is inexpensive, but there’s a LOT of labor involved. They know they have us over a barrel because we have to replace that thing before the new door can be installed. Sigh. Oh well, it’s only money…

I think bf’s plumbing project is going alright, he texted me that the new valve went in just fine. Fingers crossed for the rest of it. :crossed:

That’s it for me. TTFN.

Oh,I attached a photo of the sill. You can see it's cracked right down the middle.

annie175 06-29-2017 08:49 AM

ahhhhhhhhhh, one more wake up then I am off for a week. Staycation. We are planning to go to a new water park in Carmel<--like the candy on the pronunciation, on Wednesday and about 15 miles north of us. Cheap rates to get in. 8 bucks for seniors. Yep senior I am, 55 is the start. My bro and SIL are going as are Sam and the boys. Sam's friend Meghan and her two girls are going also. If I survive this I plan on trying KI soon. :) My bro and yuk SIL from IL are coming over on Saturday and staying til Monday. We plan on dinner and a few other things this weekend with them.

Good news....my bloodwork for iron, calcium, glucose, all cholesterols all came back great. The only thing bad was my liver functions. Dang it. WTH. Will check in with liver specialist in October but may get that moved up also.

Met a good friend for dinner and chat last night. Had not seen her in 4 years. We only live about 15 mins apart. How sad is that. Good catching up. Went to Napoli Villa, excellent Italian restaurant that I didn't even know existed. I had antipasto salad, minestrone soup and shrimp cocktail for appetizer. Delish fresh unsweet iced tea. She had cannoli (sp) that looked delish. She said it was awesome. If any of you visit me we will have to eat there. We are going to try to get together every couple of months. I met her at my first real full time M-F day job. Back in 1979. We were both 19 years old. Secretaries. lol.

I will come back for personals...someone has a fire to put out and I have the extinguisher, or so they think.

Hugs

happy2bme 06-29-2017 09:44 AM

Good morning chicks,

Quick howdy from me. I have to get ready shortly and head to the Thrift Shop. It looks like we are losing all the book ladies and as Annie very APPROPRIATELY stated this morning - there's a fire and I seem to be the only one with an extinguisher. So I am meeting with the last person standing to try and work out a new plan and will then have to recruit others. Books are a lot of work and with at least 3 resellers pillaging our shelves, I'm not sure it worth the effort but we will see how it goes...

It's been so gray and rainy and the pollen is still bad. DH and I are sneezing and coughing and just not really enjoying outside. The one odd day it does not rain DH has to spend mowing the grass that is like a jungle out there. I have lots to do when I get back home before I run off again to bingo. I am conserving laundry too with the ground being as wet as it is - drainage concerns and don't want to overload the septic system. Such is the problem of rural living.

Anne - hugs to you and hoping that the meds quickly clear up your UTI. I feel so badly for you. Yay on the good meds numbers. As for the liver - you can be very thin and still have a fatty liver. Because it cleans the body and there is so many toxins around - it's hard work to keep it healthy. Keep up the clean eating as well as the other recommendations.

Laura - yikes that's alot of money for such a small sill but I happened to be watching a home improvement show where they did the blocks. It will look really pretty but apparently is very labor intensive and lots of careful levelling and such. My keyboard seems to pick up an awful lot of schmutz too even though I regularly clean it. Maybe the electronics attracts it more than usual. :dizzy:

Will have to come back later to chat more. Have a good one - hope you have sun UNLIKE US. :(

Laura705 06-29-2017 11:05 AM

Morning all. Half day of work today, so I made a point of getting in a bit earlier than usual so I can leave around 12:15 to get my 12:30 train.

Annie – Will you be staying multiple days near the water park? Sounds fun, I hope the weather cooperates for you and the gang. == Bummer about the liver results. Just keep watch on it with the docs. == Fun you met up with your friend for dinner. Unless they live next door or in the upstairs apartment (like Mary and Rhoda in Mary Tyler Moore, lol), effort is needed to get face-to-face in person time with each other. So worth the effort! Hope you got the fire put out! :flame:

Happy – There are specific book volunteers?! And why are books so much work? The thrift store I go to prices all the paperbacks at one price and hard covers at another. But wait…they do have a bunch that are priced individually – cookbooks and “book club” type books…Okay, so I guess it could be a lot of work. == What a bummer about the pollen and rain. Sure puts a damper on things. :(

Hellos to the rest of you!

The shutoff valve part of bf’s plumbing project went very well and he replaced the hot and cold valves with no problem. Unfortunately, he’s having issues removing the clips that hold the old sink in place and was is a rotten mood yesterday when I got home from work. Today he will try one last thing and then claims he will have my mom get someone else in to do it if he is unsuccessful. He also claims she’ll need to replace her counter because he thinks the old sink was also installed using adhesive and the counter will be ruined trying to get the sink out. Oh, and mom’s unit is cursed. Very melodramatic. I’m just keeping quiet because there’s nothing I can say or suggest without causing offense at times like this.

Storms came through late last night and one really loud thunder woke me up from a solid sleep. And then it rained really hard for a while. Ground is gonna stay wet, and it looks like more rain tonight and tomorrow. Good to get it over with now and be nicer on the weekend!!

Nothing much else to report. I have the doctor appointment this afternoon and I really don’t know what he can really suggest that doesn’t involve me sitting around on my fat hiney trying to give my foot a rest. Oh, maybe doing something about my fat hiney so it’s not so fat and not putting extra pressure on my foot.

Okay, back to work. TTFN.

Good Morning Ladies of the World!

Today is end of 2nd quarter. Where has this year gone? Holy Smokes. Looks like a lot of rain next week in INDY. Bleh, staycation may suck. May have to come into work and save my PTO days. We shall see.

Guess we need a new title for the 3rd quarter thread. I can only think of lame titles. Worldies-Make it Count Healthy Choices!

I made pizza burgers last night for dinner. Ground chuck, onion, Italian spices mixed into patties. Fry til done. Then added tomato paste to the top of the burgers with a slice of mozzarella cheese melted. Fried one potato for C. Also made cherry tomato, mozzarella balls and basil tossed in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Just a hint of fake sugar. OMGosh, how yummy. I ate two burgers, the most I have eaten in a long time at a meal and the salad. Full, full, full. We finished watching "One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest" as C had not seen it yet. Sam was at her required parenting class for the divorce to be final and the boys were at their other g-mas. A nice evening. She said Chris was in the same class and they sat together. At least that was peaceful. :)

HAPPY...I did get an appt to see the liver specialist today at 1pm. Thank you for the good thoughts. Really, I am not worried about it, just really tired of doctor appts. This one will be expensive as I have not reached the required 4800 deductible. The UTI is clearing up. No more pain and 4 more days of antibiotics. Do books move very good in the shop? Always seems like there are tons of them at Goodwill and places. Maybe you should volunteer at a deaf mute resort. Then you wouldn't have to hear all the crap. Of course that would require you learning sign language. I only know one sign right now. Guess which one? hahahahhaha Hope you and DH get your allergies under control. This weather and the grass cutting is awful on everyone in my house including the boys.

LAURA...How did BF come along on the sink for momma. Too bad my son does not live near you, he is an excellent plumber and has all the tools. :( The waterpark...we will not be staying near their since it is only a 20 minute drive from our house. I did get the fire put out. Really people, think. How did the doc appt go? You heiny is not fat.

Hello to all, have a great week. I may try to get in here while I am on vacation. Hugs...

Girls, girls, girls.

Got an email from the liver specialist. Hep C test came back negative. Oh yeah! He cancelled my appt for today and said to rerun the test in 6 months.

I am elated to say the least. I could scream!!!!!

Laura705 06-30-2017 12:44 PM

Morning all. TGIF!

Annie – Great news re the Hep C results & to not have to go to your liver dr appointment. :carrot: == Yeh, can’t believe how quickly the year is moving along. == That tomato/mozz/basil salad sounds heavenly. I want to make some of that this weekend. == BF didn’t go to my mom’s yesterday, so the old sink with no plumbing is still the same. BF tells me that my mom decided she may as well get a new countertop along with the new sink. And she really prefers a white porcelain sink (always has) and she wants a new stove because hers is black and she hates black. So I guess bf will go over and reconnect the plumbing (minus the garbage disposal). I have no idea if he will offer to do the work when she gets her new stuff, as he’s convinced the place is cursed, LOL.== Bummer about the rainy weather forecast for next week, but we all know that they tend to change and/or be wrong, so fingers crossed you can keep your plans. :crossed:

Hellos to the rest of you! Hope you all have a great weekend!

The doctor took an x-ray yesterday and my fracture is healing satisfactorily. He suggested a very thin carbon fiber insert for my shoe (sneaker) inserted beneath the existing insole to give it some rigidity. Also advised me to stretch my calves. And the usual watching how much I do on my feet and occasional icing. He also said if I’m concerned, he could order a CAT scan and consider the possibility of a bone stimulator. I’m not at that stage yet, IMO. I am also considering some clogs he mentioned in previous appointments – Dansko brand. They have a rigid sole. I’ll check into those, but I know they're pricey, so for now I might just buy the insert for $55, not covered by insurance (no surprise).

That’s about it for me, so I’ll get this posted.

Good morning ladies,

Fat heineys of the world - unite!!! Except you are not fat. I on the other hand had a rare treat this morning with my coffee. They had apple turnovers at the Senior Center for bingo last night. In the past I have always given mine to DH who along with others proclaimed it delicious. So darn it, last night I took one as my meal allowance and purchased one for DH. It must have been good because he ate his last night right after I got home. I had mine today and it was really yummy. Oh oh. I have not had a turnover since before the calendar rolled over to the new millennium. Back in my early married days Pepperidge Farm used to (and maybe still does) have them in the frozen section 4 to a package. I used to make them for DH all the time. They have the guy who does the handyman stuff at the center doing the evening cooking for bingo. He is very enthusiastic and helpful but cooking is not his talent although he is eager and willing to do whatever they ask of him to earn his paycheck. But he makes lousy cookies which is good - I am no longer tempted by desserts there. Bingo was busy we had almost 60 people playing - a good night for us. My partner had to run out just as we got started - his wife called very frantic - his cat had brought in a mouse/chipmunk/squirrel/I don't know - some kind of CRITTER - through the cat door and she is normally fearless except for this kind of thing. So he had to go home and catch what turned out to be a baby gray squirrel. He trapped it in the loo and caught it with a towel. I told him that's just what he needs on top of his leg all banged up - RABIES shots!!! But all was well except he was out most all of the night. My other partner only had to excuse himself a few times to "step out" (to the loo) so it wasn't too bad on my own except that my cortisone shot has worn off on my bad knee and early on as I was wiping up a wet coffee mess on the floor I hit a kink in my knee - bone on bone pain and I could barely walk for about an hour. But it subsided somewhat.

I did go in an help out with the books. The lady doing them is so nice - she has alot of medical issues but she still keeps plugging away. We got alot done but still have more to do. Me and my buddy who "manages" our shop walked over to the storefront of the guy pillaging our books. D had a nice conversation with him and afterwards I said he was very Fake. The kind that smiles to your face and you know he is just lying out of his teeth. He is charging 3 to 5 bucks for paperbacks and 5 to 8 dollars for hardbacks. I guess it's a rather lucrative business and he is charging 15 to 25 dollars for vinyl LP albums!!!! I'm sure DH would sell him my box of albums for a dollar each. We did tell him we are raising the prices of our books.

Annie - I am so delightfully happy that you got a clean bill of health on the liver. There is NOTHING in this world as good as good health. And you have been working so hard to lead a clean life, good for you sister.
Interesting that they are requiring parenting classes now - that's got to be a good thing. I do hope for the boys sake that whatever disagreements S & C may have as man and woman, they can keep them from the kids - sounds like they are trying. I don't understand how it can be raining downpours like we get constantly and we STILL have to deal with pine pollen constantly. You'd think it would wash away already.

They are still working on the landscaping - it's really starting to look nice but not enough done to take pictures yet.

Laura - I think your Mom will be happier with a porcelain sink. I hate stainless - a pain to clean. It was nice of BF to tackle the plumbing jobs - I sure do hope Mom's place is not cursed. There's many more years to be there. I have heard of Dansko shoes also. You know you could try Zappos - they give you up to a year to return them. Of course you'd have to wear them on the rugs inside to see if they work for you. I understand your hesitation as I bought several pairs of pricey sneakers over the years based on other people's recommendations and I still - no matter what brand - get terrible cramping in my feet doing aerobics. I think finding comfortable shoes is one of life's great mysteries. :^: I hope you can find something reasonably priced that works for you.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I need to shower and get to the thrift store. We are still working on the books. I convinced DH to go move shelving around yesterday which he did begrudgingly but specifically for me which I appreciated. And I found to my dismay that the pricing stickers we were using are not sticking so I have to put cellophane tape on them. Extra work. Anyway I need to run - so much to do and at home here too. Argh!!!

Have a good weekend chicks - I'll be back later.

Morning all,
Annie - so pleased to hear of the clean bill of health for the liver. Must make you feel good too. And you are off on leave now as well. Have fun and look after yourself

Laura - hope that pricey insert works for you. Last time I was in the States I thought prices were very low compared to ours. Seems you have caught up in a hurry on the pricing wars - and off course the insurance doesn't cover it. Seems like you pay a lot for a very little service with those policies.
Hope you can sort out the mothers kitchen problems soon. I can understand B/F's reluctance to do anymore there.

Happy - Apple turnovers!!!!!  I understand the "I have to go, but there is so much to do at home" syndrome.

Miss Puss had to have an operation on her mouth. It seems her molars were giving her trouble. Well she had two of them out and the one remaining canine. She now has two molars and the little teeth in the front of her mouth left. She wasn't very happy for several days but is much better now. I take her back to the vet tonight and then probably again in another 10 or so days. Expensive cat this one. Still she has given me companionship for the past 18 nearly 19 years. I keep telling her that she has to earn that money back so stick around for another couple of years.

I have also been down to the local government agency to apply for the pension. That was an interesting couple of hours. How the other half live. Anyway the claim is submitted and will in due course either be accepted or not. I am apparently too rich to get the full pension. I've also set in motion my superannuation policy to be a pension as well. That's probably what will make me too rich. Insert maniacal laughter here. Anyway, what will be will be.

My little garden is coming along nicely. I have tomatoes beginning to ripen and we've eaten a couple of the lettuces and the rocket is rocketing along. Spuds are growing and we had one feed off them a while back. The corn is now displaying ears and the cauliflowers have mini flowers on them. Wish I could say the same for the peas. Seems something around the area likes pea plants so there are only a couple left and they are not doing much. My beetroot is giving up some wonderful foliage, just hope there are some beets underneath and the carrots are coming along as well. Something grew out of the compost heap and I was about to pull it out when I noticed it had flowers or fruit - can't tell which yet - so I may get to find out what it is.

And that's about it. Better get on with my day - change the beds, sweep and dust in the bedrooms and get out in the sunshine to chop up some more of the hedge plants for the green bags. Better water the pots as well since we aren't getting much in the way of rain lately.

Thursday I fly down to Adelaide for the granddaughters birthday. Apparently she is having a party at home with about 18 screaming kids. Lucky me. Better take some earplugs.

Oh and had anyone heard that Ruthxxx is getting married again. Soon. Not sure when. But I saw something on facebook and checked up with her and it is true.

Catch you all later.
