Hi gang. I took the day off from work to run some errands (and to sleep in!)
Deb, Glad the new job is going well. It does get old sitting at a desk all day though.
Kathy, how is the Dr. Phil book? I've never been much of a fan, but I know a lot of people like him.
LA, Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your trip & that you are back home before the storm hit. You just don't want to chat because Survivor starts tonight ---I know you!
I've been doing well. Still eating pretty good & exercising here & there. I think I'm going to go to the bookstore this afternoon & see what I can find.
hello all--- i'm glad i found this thread i'm 32 yrs. old living in nyc and single again (never married) just as of this monday but hey things happen for a reason but still aching from a broken heart and i just don't want to feel all lonely and get all my comfort and support from food--- hope to hear from you guys soon----
Welcome Snowball My, my, my we're a growing bunch.
I'm sorry to hear of your singleness. Uh, you're in NYC, don't they do a show about the good life of being single in the city? Turn to us for support..don't turn to food..(well, go ahead and do it ONE TIME, get ito ut of your system, dust yourself off and try again)
Speaking of that...
all right, confession time. Yes, I did watch Survivor. I watched it with some friends at work. If you don't watch it, it was very entertaining.
I also went to a charity fashion show tonight. There was only 3 people at my table so I ended up eating 2 desserts
well, I did awful and I feel so bad about it.
Well, my 2 day work-week is halfway over, I could get used to this. Will talk more later on.
Not much in my world. Work this weekend...but at least it's money! Good reason to leave weekend chores to others....I can dream can't I? Bet they'll be sitting here expecting me to do em afterwork.
I am Cyan...33 years old, single and never married...I have two beautiful cats...pretty much my furbabies if ya know what I mean
I am a web developer/project Manager. Aside from working, I have wonderful friends and currently take care of my Mom who suffers from Alzheimers.
I am looking to lose 40 pounds ...I am 5.4 and one Half Hey it counts and weigh 170 pounds. I am in a size 12 and hope to be in a size 8 in about 8 months time.
I have been struggling with weight for the past 3 years putting on 10 pounds each ear. Well I guess thats it
Welcome to snowball & cyan. Can't wait to get to know y'all!
LA, don't beat yourself up over the desserts. We all do things like that.
Grasshopper, hope work went well over the weekend. I should probably go into the office at some point this weekend, just haven't decided if I will or not.
The weather is great. It's starting to cool off - for Texas. I've enjoyed the morning out on the balcony with the stereo blasting. Probably aggrivating the neighbors, but they have their bass blasting until 2 am, so I'm getting my revenge!!! I know-not nice.
Anyway, enjoy your weekend.
Hey, what do y'all think about a Halloween challenge or goals? Let me know. For me, it may help my motivation some.
Well I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I'm tired. I was up at 6:30 after no sleep (will explain it all) anywho, went and walked in a walk for Pancreatic Cancer (3 miles, up hill both ways) anywho, then came home cleaned my h ouse, went to a baby shower.
Went to the grocery store and saw a dietitian I work with on the show and I'm like, uh, what's in my cart. But she inspected everthing and said it was all fine and I was proud
Anyway, welcome to our newest member Cyan (and did I welcome Snowball? I forget--if not, welcome to you) I have 2 beautiful cats Caesar & Brutus and I'm a huge kittie nut. I too, had to take care of an ailing mother so I know that's no fun. I'm thinking about you.
Well, add me to the list of people worried about my job. So I know how you others feel. We had a very intense meeting yesterday a pretty much "get it together or else" meeting and I left furious (which is why I was up all night)
Jenjen, I will take you for that challenge. How much you wanna go for? I'll be glad to take any of you on. Is 10 pounds too diffucult? Let's talk about it.
Also, I'm planning for our first annual Successful Singles "get to know you" meeting next year. If you're interested, let me know so we can figure out where to go (Jenjen and I talked about doing this eons ago) And yes, I was watching Survivor. Let's chat this week. When is good for you guys? I'm gonna need a friend Wednesday (we're having another meeting--ugh!!!)
Not happy today. Been pretty good, for me, all week and doesn't look like I lost. That, and my ankles keep getting swollen! Heck, I sit at a desk all day! What's up with that? Keep thinking of the movie Shallow Hal and cankles
I'm just hoping it's hormones but going to go see the doc about this latest development.
I'm up for the Halloween challenge! 10 lbs sounds like a reasonable goal
Welcome Cyan
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Thinking of heading to the beach tomorrow to see what's left after the storm. Hope no one is really around. Love to sit on the beach and chill out.
Welcome to Snowball18 and Cyan! I am also a single 30 something with 3 cats! The love they give is unconditional. The time I spend cleaning 2 litter boxes and shopping for cat food keeps my mind off of men! I was married, but the bitter pain of being dumped never seems to go away. I buried myself in candy, cookies, etc. everytime I thought about how my ex just dumped me and married someone else. I hate to run into him, he seems so happy without me. It still makes me sad. OUch!! Food doesn't really help, it just distracts me long enough to temporarily forget. I must go clean before I start crying!
Jillzeebean, I'm sorry I had no idea what you had gone through. Know that I'm thinking about you and that time will ease your pain. My mother was dumped by my father (for another woman) and she was devastated (plus had a child to raise) however, she eventually found someone new and was happier than ever. Hang in there.
I am doing pretty good. Still on pins and needles about this week at work. I went to church today and prayed and prayed that I would have the strength to get through it. It made me feel better. Eating wise I've been so-so. Could do better, could be worse. I will take you up on the 10 pound challenge. It even helped me in the store today to give up a kit-kat. So, good job.
Just a quick note ...I'm at work....anyway thanks for all the warm welcomes.
I had a pretty full weekend...I had chinese buffet on saturday which was good but my friend wanted to go and being a food junky, I couldnt say no...I need to work on my will power!
I am thinking of going on the South Beach Diet...has anyone tried that diet?
Question for everyone here: Kinda of curious...what are you doing to lose weight and follow a healthier life style?
I am having a very hard time losing any kind of weight...although I have been stable for the past year at 170...I just cant seem to lose though...very frustrating.
Also, if I try to eat to few calories...like under 1500 cals...I am perpetually hungry! Its not an emotional eating thing...its actually physical hunger pains! I try to cycle at least a few times per week for at least 20 minutes for a distance of 8km or 10km. I also have been hiking on weekends for 6 to 8 kms. and I also walk to work! I was playing badminton twice per week until my badminton partner hurt his ankle pretty badly.
I guess I need to up my cycling and add weights...maybe that will do the trick!
I am curious to hear about your strategies and tips
Hooorayyyyyyyy!!! Just weighed in today...and I am down 3.4 lbs from the weekend. For a total of 17.6 lbs lost I can hardly contain myself... that is the most I have lost at a weigh in yet...and believe me that is just the motivation that I needed.
It's nice to see more posts! Hope everyone is doing well. Haven't posted in a while...so thought I would jump in here and see how it goes.
Veggies are becoming more tolerable...as I have discovered stir frying with green peppers (Which I do like) so that is really helping...and I am using more ground turkey breast in the receipe book and replacing it for the ground beef in the beef receipes which has really helped me....cause I was tired of choking down that dried ole' turkey... I just recently tried the "Stuffed Peppers" receipe (using turkey) and it turned out great...in case anyone wants the receipe...just let me know.
Take care,
ad4now
