First night show went well,,,except my thunder didn't go...LOUD caboom thunder...nothing at all. BUt everything else went great.

Going to go to walmart and buy 3-4 mirrors and hang them in the kitchen area...that should help matters...lol

SIL is doing well, she is coming over tomorrow to peal apples,,,she has a tree that is 1/10 picked, and so we are going to make, apple sauce, apple crisp, apple pie, don't know about apple jelly...depends on if I have any fingers left from all the pealing. If I had the huge canning jars I would can apple pie filling. And give it away as gifts...ya know a little checkers ginham material on the top tied with some raffia.
Tanner had a pretty good day other then he couldn't open his locker and got in trouble till the teacher realized he was for real. His best friend is in with him,,,hes happy.
Meanwhile Brandon has just informed me hes dropped mechanics, and will be taking a cooking class...good he could do something with them apples...lol
Well I need to head for bed...night all

Good morning ladies

Angie, the applesauce, apple pie and apple crisp sound delicious! Do you guys make apple butter? I LOVE that stuff but don't eat much of it, so good! That would have been so good on my dry toast this morning.

Hi to everyone else, Kat, Jana, Marti, Mel, Michelle, Carree, Nancy and anyone I may have missed. Hope everyone is doing good and you all have a great day today. TTFN

Hi ladies,

A Big Hello to Nancy - hope you feel at home here and post often.

Cristi - Makenzie cried throughout the whole procedure and I think that was harder on Mary than the child. The technician said things looked fine, but she gets the official report from the specialist tomorrow. Thank you for asking about her!

I went out and bought Fern a bunch of clothes today since almost none of hers fit anymore. She hasn't gained weight, but has lost a lot of muscle so she is much flabbier. Our first day went fine. She will be going to the adult day care section of the Senior Center every Monday - Friday. They even bathe the patients, which is a Godsend!

Better run, many things to do before the fam gets home.

Hi all!

Sorry I have been MIA for a while. Just trying to get used to my new daytime schedule. Sounds like everyone has been very busy.

Angie, Big Lots sells canning jars, lids and rings at really good prices if you're interested. I can a lot too, I'll post my recipe for apple butter on the recipe sticky. I'm sure you'll get rave reviews on your play. Sorry to hear about your SIL, but I'm glad she has you to turn to for comfort and understanding.

Jana, Sorry to hear Makenzie had to go in for more tests. Is she ill with something esle, or the same problems she was having while she was in the hospital (I do have the right twin, right?) ?
Sounds like you are all ready for your MIL, good luck. I wish there were more people out there that were willing to take in their parents. I think the previous generations had it right because they respected and took care of the elderly instead of pawning them off to a nursing home. I realize it's not always possible to keep them at home, but I think we should while we can.

Welcome Nancy!!!!!!!!

Marti, What an idea, mirrors in the kitchen, maybe I'll try that.

Hello to anyone I missed!

Ta ta, Mel

Hey ladies, sorry I've been missing for so long. I had 3 weeks off between summer and fall semesters and during that time my grandfather died. So time has been flying by. I'll read your post later to check up.

Hey Jana, Kat, and Carree, and everybody else that I really don't know yet.

Hi Ladies...

I hope everyone is doing well.

Jana, it sounds like everythings all set with your MIL. I think the adult daycare is a great idea, not only for her, but to give you a break too. Its a good thing that your doing, and I hope everything goes well for you.
I hope Makenzies tests turn out ok. Poor lil thing has been through so much, I dont blame her for crying. She probably hates hospitals by now.

MMM...apple butter. I have only tried it once, and it was yummy! I might just have to try out that recipe too. I havent done much canning, but my mom made a really good cooked salsa that she canned a couple of years ago, and Ive been wanting to make some.

Hi Nancy and welcome. Make yourself right at home.

Marti...sounds like your getting serious. I wish I was in the mindset your in right now. You're gonna do a great job, I can tell!

Im sorry Ladies that I havent been coming as often. Hubby and I have had a stressful few weeks, alot of it due to financial reasons. I also just found that my mom has a breast lump and has to go in for a biopsy. Plus my gramma had a fall and had to get stitches on her face. My mom took a pic, and she has a great big shiner that looks awful. I feel so useless being 3000 miles away from them. Ive been so worried about everything, that its affecting every part of me. I cant sleep so Im cranky, which makes me eat bad, which makes me not exercise..and on and on. Ive been avoiding coming here, because I dont want to seem like a downer. It seems like everytime I come Im whining about something. Plus Im doing so bad on my plan, its almost like Ive given up.
Anyway, thats my sob story. Life's giving me lemons, and Im trying to figure out how to make lemonade!

Michelle-
Don't feel bad about venting when you come here!! That's what we're here for, to give you support. Not only with our weight issues, but with everything. We have the shoulder you need to lean on if you need it. So don't feel like you're a downer or anything.

About my plan. It's so much easier writing it all down than it is to do it! I'm not sure what it is that I'm having such difficulty with. Maybe it's the fact that I'm not going to someone to weigh me in and show my food journal to. I'm not sure. I'm trying though. I'm a bit stressed with things right now so that may be another problem.
I am trying to get funding to go back to school to retrain my skill in Office Assistance. I'm already paying on school loans, so I don't want to get anymore. And so I've been going to the unemployment office to do all this paper work and write why I need the funding and why I think they should help. Makes me feel low, like I'm worthless and lazy which isn't the case. well.... maybe a little lazy! I just filled out an application for their scholarship and I'm hoping what I wrote sounded good but not so good that they think I can just go out there with the outdated skills that I have and get a job. FRUSTRATING!!

Carree- the flex plan sound good. I'm very tempted to try that instead of the current plan I'm trying to do. Now, if I wanted to do this, how would I go about getting more information with out joining WW. I'm on limited funds. When I started posting, Kayecee told me about somewhere that I could get a slider, but I just don't remember where it was that she said I should go...... and also, how do you determine how many pts. you get? I know I was told before, but I just don't remember!!

Nancy- how you doing? We haven't heard from you since the last time you post. Hope we didn't scare you off. We would like to hear more from you.

Jana-It's good to hear that you are there for your family. You don't see that much anymore and I think thats sad. That's one thing about moving to this house, I'm closer to my grandparents and if they need me it's only a little over a mile to get to their place.

Angie- canning sounds like a lot of work. To bad you didn't live next door so I could sample some of your stuff!!

Cristie- Glad to hear that your staying OP. What was it that you're doing again? Is it WW? Sounds like most of you are doing WW which has me really wanting to drop what I'm doing and just go along with you.

Well I feel like I'm rambling along here so I need to get going. I have to get ready to talk to an advisor about getting the funding for school. Not looking forward to the meeting. We'll see how it all works out.

Hi to everyone I missed. Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

I'm back-
I decided to join the 21 day challenge thread. I only had to pick one thing that I wanted to do every day for 21 days. How hard can that be?? Has anyone here done that? I chose to drink 8 glasses of water everyday..... I sure hope I can do it. Something has got to work for me!!
I feel like I'm week.... I have no will power to do what I want to do. Help ladies! What do you suggest?

Second night was a night of riddled mistakes.....lol like a wig falling off and such...it was funny even from out stand point.
Im trying to think of a small token that I can give to all, there is about 15 -20 people who worked this show. Brandon came tonight to watch, and ended up working backstage with moving the heavy furniture. And will be coming back for 2 more shows. He said it was hilarious. And the bonus is he gets credit in school for seeing a theatre production...lol
Well off to bed...
night all

Thanks for welcoming me guys!!!

I was a bit slow and did not realise anyone responded because I did not get any e-mail notifications!!! I suppose I don't really know what I am doing with this website.

Marti...Turn up the heat is a diet based on determining your metabolic type and then eating accordingly. There is a quick start 3 week program, but the actual program goes in 12 week cycles. I just got the actual book yesterday at Chapters and have been devouring it. Basically in the quick start you eat lots of fruits and vegetables and chicken and fish in the first week and then you eliminate the fruits and end up with just vegetables and protein by the third week. You have to drink lots of water and eat 5 times a day. So far it is really working!!!

Angie...it sounds like you are in theatre...I am in theatre as well, although I am not doing a show this fall. I did two last year and wanted a little bit of a break. I did Adelaide in Guys and Dolls last year, and the stripping on stage was a huge incentive to lose weight, but right after the last night of performance I started to put it all back on, so now I am even bigger than I was before I started to diet for the part.

I am busy getting the cottage in Muskoka (Ontario Canada) closed up and getting ready for my trip back home to Bermuda. We are supposed to leave on Saturday, my daughters Paige and Madison (10 and 8.5) start school on Monday. But there is supposed to be a hurricane (Fabian) hitting the island late on Friday night, so I don't know if we are going to be able to get home!!! It is quite worrying, but nice that my family is not there, but scary that lots of friends are there, I hope no one gets hurt.

Have a great day guys!!!

Nancy.

p.s. Marti you sound like you are doing really well on your diet!! I will weigh myself on Sunday and post my new weight then.

Good morning, ladies!

Mel - glad you are getting used to your new schedule. Makenzie had a scope done that was related to her being in the hospital last month. It was just exploratory and the tech said it looked good. Yay!

Ruth - good to see you! So sorry about your grandfather. Come back and chat when you have time.

Michelle - when you figure out how to make lemonade outta the lemons life is throwing at you, would you go ahead and post it on the recipe board for the rest of us? LOL Might as well keep a sense of humor, huh? As someone else said, please don't ever feel like you can't vent with us - heck, that's what friends are for, okay? Is your mom getting a biopsy done soon? Sorry about your grandma! I agree it is hard to stay OP with all the stress going on. Maybe you shouldn't worry about the weight right now. Just try to not gain, and drink lots of water and get some exercise when you can. That is what I am doing for now....

Marti - good luck with the funding for school. The red-tape for stuff like that just goes on and on. As a WW myself, I know the WW magazine has outlined the Flex Points in the current issue. The 21 day challenge you joined sounds like a step in the right direction.

Angie - sometimes all the flub-ups are what makes a play so funny. I saw one once that phone was supposed to ring, but didn't. There was an untimely pause and then the actor loudly said " I suppose the phone will ring now and I'll have to deal with that, too!" And so the fx person got the clue and the phone rang. The audience laughed it up.

Nancy - holy cow, you LIVE in Bermuda??? I have never even got to visit there! And spending the summer in Canada is awesome, too. Be sure to stop in at the BIO thread, if you want, so we will know more about you, okay? Watch out for Fabian and stay safe!

Thanks to eveyone for your kind words about us taking in Fern. She seems to be adjusting well, and is happy. I have to admit, sending her to the day care is so nice for all of us. I am really ready to see her when she gets back home and all that activity helps her sleep well.

I gotta run and get some cleaning done.

Jana

Good morning,
I can't believe this, I sent the boys off to school at 7:30 and went back to bed for a bit longer,,,I woke at 10! I feel weird now...lol
Jana, the phone didn't ring,,,even thou I pressed the button, and the gun didn't go off, those were my mistakes,,,,lol Then the side table was kicked over,,,spilling candy and ice tea all over, the one cast had to pull her hat off and leave the blonde wig on, and ended up taking hte whole thing off,,,it was hilarious. Then our young cast member forgot about this one small part she has to be on stage and went to change into her other costume,,,,well she missed her cue,,,and when she finally showed up she was half naked...that almost made me cry I laughed so hard.
I have some pics on disc and will try to post them. Jana good to know about McKenzie. And Fern is one lucky woman to have you in her life.
Michelle, sugar,,,you need sugar Sugar!

Nancy Im going to have to check out that diet,,,sounds good. Yes Im in the theatre, I normally do hair and make-up but got talked into props, then assistant stage management. Can you say bit off too much? The show was called *Ruthless*...musical comedy.

Ruth Im sorry about your grandfather, I know how your feeling. This past summer we lost our grandma.

Marti, I know, I know...me too! I have no will power what so ever right now and know I need a big shake up. Something new to make me excited.

I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Hi Ladies,

You ladies have been busy since I posted yesterday morning, where to start...

Ruth, so sorry to hear about your grandfather.

Jana, the adult day care sounds great. I think it is always good for all senior citizens to go to something like that. It give them the opportunity to be around others their age and keep them busy with activities. It's terrible to see them just sitting around doing nothing. And you are a special person to take her in. Glad to hear Makenzie is fine!

Mel, nice to see you pop in.

Michelle, sorry to hear about your grandma and hope everything goes alright with your mom. And as the others have said DON'T feel like you are whining or being a downer. Again, that is what we are here for, to lend a shoulder to a friend. I think we all can relate to stress eating I know I can, so don't worry about staying OP just take care of yourself. Maybe try to maintain, just DON'T ever give up! This will pass and you wil be all the stronger for it.

Marti, have you tried a Pell Grant? It is money from the government that you don't have to pay back. And don't feel low because you turn to other sources to help put you through school. That is what that stuff is there for, for people who need the help. I hope everything goes good with the advisor today and you get what you need. : I am also doing WW and started doing the Flex Points this past Monday, so far, so good! You can also go to WeightWatchers.com they have some info and you can get their free newsletter in your email that has all kinds tips, stories and recipes. I know what site you are talking about but can't remeber it off hand, I will try to find it for ya. I have all the stuff from WW as I attended the meetings but at the time our schedules got crazy and it was a bit costly with both me and hubby going. I do however plan on joining online, hoping to the first of October.

Angie, the play sounded like it was so much fun! I would love to do what you are doing!

Nancy, welcome again. I too have never been to Bermuda and can only imagine how beautiful it is there.

Another OP day for me, also got my exercise in this morning. Goofy me, I was so excited about the fair last week and mentioned this to dh and he looked at me like I was crazy! I thought the fair opened last Friday, we planned on going Wednesday he is going to play hooky from work. Then it dawned on me the fair opend the 5th. I got my dates so screwed up and was disappointed. Anyway, we go the 10th and I can't wait! Well, this is a bit long ladies but I wanted to say Hi to everyone. Take care ladies and have a good day!
