Talk of snow flurries in the morning. Looking forward to the weekend. Tip of the Day from Fitness RX, Feb 2014 --You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it. --There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs. |

Looks like the northeast will be much colder in the next few days. Tomorrow is weigh-in. This week flew by. I don't think I will get good results this week. Wishing you a good weigh-in tomorrow. Tip of the Day from Fitness RX, Feb 2014 10.4 is the number for the Years, the years added to your skin's age when you skip healthy habits like eating fruits and veggies, brushing your teeth, and applying moisturizer. |

Exercise
15 minutes stretching 1 hour walk/jog Meals Cheese sandwich Mock chicken patties, zucchini relish Pasta salad, fruit salad :cheer2: Congratulations Renee!! :cheer2: Good job! :carrot: You are moving right along and in the right direction. My scale showed :goodscale I also went down, but only by 0.5 lbs. I am very happy about that, because I didn't expect to lose anything this week. So I am pleased. :broc: Finally got a couch today and matching chair. Yippee!! We picked it up and brought it home ourselves. We like the way it looks and feels, and it sits in our room just fine. However, I did have to compromise on my cushions. So they are the one-sided ones with Velcro. We got even a bigger discount today, so we just decided to go with it. The fabric smells a little strong right now from the dyes, but I am sure in a week or so, it will not be too bad. The only other bad thing about it is that I didn't notice that it had a 4 inch cut on the left side probably from when they took it out of the box with a box cutter. I tried to look at it before we left but it was hard to cover every inch of it when there is still paper and plastic all around it. Oh well. I am sure I will be able to find some string and sew it together so it is not too noticeable. There is a slight mix in colors so it shouldn't stand out too much. Anyway, I am happy with it right now. Still awfully cold here too, in the 30's. However, you have it much colder at 15. :yikes: Yikes. :brr: It gives me the shivers just thinking about it. Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 If you have 15 seconds.... Squeeze your butt muscles. Doing so can actually strengthen your spine and instantly enhance your posture. |

Hopefully this will be the last of the very cold weather. So glad you got a couch. The odor should fade as it gets exposed to the air. Too bad you didn't see the cut before you brought it home, they might have given you more of a discount. You're on a roll...new car and couch! Not sure what I'm doing today. I told Sam I wasn't going to cook, so that means we're going out for lunch and I think I want pizza for dinner. I bought a chocolate mousse cake for me. LOL, I wrote chocolate mouse cake, then noticed the typo...... Have a blessed Sunday! |
Exercise
2.5 hour walk Meals Tofu Scramble Cheese Sandwich Bean Burrito Onion Rings A day of no cooking sounds appropriate for a Sunday, especially for a day like today. I hope they took you somewhere nice for your celebration. However, I would have no will power for the Chocolate mousse cake. I would eat it all until it was gone. I would start with one piece and put it away, then I would hear it calling me back to it a few hours later .....an so on. Hopefully that is not the case for you. ;)However, it is a special day for you...so I hope you have/had a fantastic day!! :celebrate: :hb: :woo: :celebrate: Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Coffee Go ahead-have that second cup of coffee (as long as it's not too late in the day). Experts say sipping up to two to three 8 ounce cups a day can improve your mood. {Well I don't drink coffee, so that doesn't do anything for me} Stack You Day Dawn beats Dusk: A study in the journal Obesity found that women who ate a 700-calorie breakfast and 200-calorie dinner shed more than twice as much weight over 12 weeks as those whose meal sizes were reversed. Why....Your body clock is linked to hormone dips that rev metabolism in the morning and leave it sluggish at night. |

1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores 1/2 hr. evening barn chores Meals oatmeal with blueberries banana hamburger pretzel pizza, chocolate mousse cake I had a very nice day yesterday. We went to my favorite local spot for lunch and for dinner ordered out pizza. The cake was very good and I only had a small piece! Sam is on vacation for the next week and we need to find a car for my mother-in-law. Not for her to drive, but for us to be able to take her where she needs to go. Our cars are to high for her to get in comfortably. Thank for the birthday wishes! Have a great Monday! |

30 minute walk 45 minute walk Meals Berry drink Peanuts Spinach manicotti, broccolini with garlic, and lemon shallots Bean enchiladas, guacamole with tortilla chips Berry/carrot mini muffins I'm glad you had a nice birthday, and had something yummy to celebrate it. Good luck searching for another car. I hope you find something soon. That way Sam and you can find something fun to do together while he is off. Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Carbo loading There's a reason so many so-called comfort foods like mashed potatoes and lasagna are carb-based. Carbs fuel the production of serotonin, your brain's main feel-good neurotransmitter, which activates receptors that help control mood and appetite. But when there is less daylight, your body produces less serotonin, meaning you want to eat more than usual in winter to keep your spirits up. But careful: Not all carbs are created equal. The Fix: Eat complex carbs like whole-grain cereal, rice, and oatmeal, which are digested more slowly than refined grains, staving off hunger (and crankiness). For spuds, swap white ones for sweet potatoes, which are rich in B vitamins and lycopene, nutrients that have been shown to help depression. |

It looks promising. It's raining here today so we probably won't go see it till tomorrow. No food for me today. I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow. Hopefully they won't find anymore polyps. I don't mind the procedure, but the prep isn't much fun. Have an awesome Tuesday! |

It will be a relief for you if you find something quickly. I can sympathize with you on the colonoscopy. I hate drinking the prep stuff. It is just plain disgusting. I hope all goes well for you on it. What is the brand of computer that you bought? For instance, was it Acer, HP, or Dell? I need to start looking for a new computer. We got a few raindrops this evening. I think we are suppose to get a few more tomorrow. I hope so. This dustbowl needs it bad. Have a wonderful Wednesday, as best as it can be under the circumstances!! Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Lighten Up It's safe to shed up to two pounds per week. One pound is 3,500 calories. So to drop 10 in five weeks you'd have to shave off around 1,000 calories per day through food changes or extra exercise, or a combination. But keep in mind that other factors, like your current diet, your genes, your stress level, and even your sleep schedule can affect how fast things go. So as long as you're making progress, remind yourself it's not a race. |

Now you will remember to call before you go to ensure that the vehicle is still there. Do you watch any television shows or movies on your computer? There are a few late night shows that I miss which I try to catch later on my computer. I like Designated Survivor, but 1000PM is way to late for me. I hope all went well with your Doctor's appointment. I bet you were starving afterwards. I remember how my belly kept growling and very loud too. Hope you had a good outcome. Have a terrific Thursday! Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Get Out of Your Own Way The key to reaching a goal: giving yourself consequences for slacking. 1. Choose Your Consequence. In order to make yourself stick with something, you have to come up with a deterrent to quitting that would be unpleasant specifically for you. For example, a caffeine junkie could deprieve herself of that glorious morning coffee if she doesn't make it to the gym. Think of things that are uncomfortable and annoying, not harsh or physically painful. |
Exercise: 45 minutes elliptical 15 minutes bicycle
1 hour zumba 30 min lifting weights and 20 minutes walking Had only 4 hours of sleep and feeling a bit exhausted. This seems to be my daily routine from mon-Fri. On the weekends, I like to do a 2 hour hike. :) |
Hi sfchubbychick
Exercise 1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores 1/2 hr. evening barn chores Meals banana chicken soup, saltines cheeseburger pie, stringbeans Test went fine. Nothing found. Don't need another test for 5 years. I do sometimes watch tv shows or movies on my computer. I usually don't make it past 10:00 either unless I take a nap during the day :) I guess winter just doesn't want to go away. Looks like we're in for 3-5 inches tonight and then cold weather. There's also talk of a big storm for next week. Have a good Thursday! |

Walk 1 hour Meals 2 eggs, hash brown Veggie pannini, plantains yogurt Welcome sfchubbychick! Glad to have you join the thread. Sounds like you have a great exercise routine. You must be very tired after only 4 hours of sleep. How do you manage it? Renee, glad your test went fine. That's great! Have you watched any TV shows on your new computer yet? Yes, I think we are in for some very cold weather too coming up for the next week. I need to make sure I enjoy the last of the warm weather today. Have a fabulous Friday! Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Enlist others. If no one but you knows about the repercussions, it's easy not to enforce them. Ask those close to you to hold you accountable.......or make them part of your comeuppance. For example, if you're late to a dinner date, you have to pick up the tab for the meal. Most people will have no problem calling you out on a slip up (especially if there 's something in it for them!). |

1 hour walk Meals Tofu scramble Banana Bean Burrito Taco salad Very cold and windy here today. Some snow flurries, but no accumulation. Not suppose to get any here though. Jack loves the snow. He runs around and rolls in it. He is funny to watch as he plays in it. Tomorrow is weigh-in. Wishing you a successful weigh-in. Have a great Saturday! Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Pay up immediately When you falter, address it ASAP, it's natural to want to drag your feet before, say, doing your roommate's chores or laying off social networking for an entire day. But spending a lot of time dreading whatever you're about to do to make amends takes you away from working toward your goal. If you'd just gotten it over with, you could already be back on your way to chiseling better abs (or working towards that thinner healthier you) . |

Guess I will need to make some major modifications to my program this week to get things moving along once again.:ebike: I am really glad that you are still on track. :cheer2: Time to Spring Forward on Sunday morning. Hope you have a great sunny Sunday! Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014 Focus on the Positive There's an important distinction between giving yourself consequences and beating yourself up. The latter can mess with your self-esteem and make you feel as if you might as well ditch the whole self-betterment quest. If you do revert to your old ways, look at your lumps as a learning experience and quickly began looking forward again. Eventually you will be able to adhere to your new habit simply because it makes you feel good. |

Stay safe and warm. sfchubbychick-Smart move with trying low carbs for losing weight. However, you may feel less energized when doing a hard workout. Perhaps you can find a happy median with both to make it work for you. Well ladies, this is a new week with a fresh new goal. Yes, we can do this. Just keep the scale moving downward.....let's do this! :carrot: Tip of the Day from Oxygen magazine, Dec 2010 45....Percentage less likelihood of developing Alzheimer's disease in people who do regular moderate -to-intense activity. Start slowly and take it easy with your inside exercises. :dancer: It is easier to injure your back now, since you have previously hurt it. Steady and slow is the best way to go. :yoga: Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013 The Beet Goes On Juicing red roots could help your heart, reports the journal Hypertension. Downing about eight ounces of beetroot juice led to a drop in systolic blood pressure (the top number), which has been associated with a lowered risk of death due to cardiovascular issues. Beets are a rich source of nitrate, which your body converts to compounds that help vessels dilate to reduce blood pressure. Drink the juice straight or mix it with apple juice to add sweetness. Put the squeeze on heart disease. :val1: |

Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013 Control Gap-The margin between how much control people think they have over their weight and how much they actually do to change it. In a survey, 80 percent of people said they could have "a great deal of" or "complete" control over the scale, but only 65% said they take that level of initiative-a 15 point gap. |

Chris made a couple of passes in the paddock with the 6 ft. snowblower so I can get the horses out today. Some of the drifts are taller than they are :) We used to do our own taxes, but it's so much easier to take them to a CPA. Have a great day! |
Exercise
30 minute walk Breakfast Berry muffin Tofu and vegetables Mock Chicken patty, Broccoli and pasta You sure did get some snow. Those winds just keep everything sooo cooolllllddd. I hope you don't get any more snow. Good thing you have a snow blower. Guess it is kind of mandatory for where you live. I was going to get an accountant or hire a tax service. I got quotes for $330 to $480 to start with. So I figured I would just give it a try myself first and see how things go. I've been eating a bit more just to keep warm. I have been wearing double layers of clothes too. I ate some pasta today, and I can feel my stomach growing out. I will definitely have to stay away from that in the future. I feel like my waist just grew 2 inches. Yikes. Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013 Double Down Tackle exercise and diet together for best results. In a study, participants who began fitness and food plans at the same time met national guidelines for exercise (150 minutes weekly) and nutrition (five to nine daily servings of fruit and veggies, and less than 11 percent total daily intake from saturated fat) one year out. Those who exercised first, then started a diet a few months later, or vice versa, didn't measure up. "Doing both from the start keeps one from becoming a priority," says study author Abby King, Ph.D. |

School has been cancelled. When I went to school, we never had a snow day off. The busses had tire chains. Guess everyone is sue happy and the school districts don't want the liability. Next month will be here soon. Hope you have a fantastic St. Patrick's day. Looks like you will have a festive meal. :luck2you: Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013 Keep It Moving The dangers of sitting too much may drill all the way down to your DNA. Australian researches sampled thigh muscle from people who sat constantly and those who took two-minute waling breaks every 20 minutes. The latter group showed positive changes in 75 genes, including ones involved with new muscle growth and the destruction of free radicals. Sneak in standing breaks while you drink water or talk on the phone. |

I need to find something to wear. It's a very small informal event. I have a very busy April. I run our churches' rummage sale on the 7th and 8th, then I prepare the meal for the Easter sunrise service on the 16th. I usually have about 40 people for that and I make a full Easter dinner at home. I also do the Easter flower orders for church. Then I get to breathe for a week before the wedding. Right now I'm doing the advertising for the rummage sale. Oh, and the day after the wedding is my first horse show! |

I am sure you are looking forward to it all. I hope you find something nice to wear too. Especially since some of your clothes may be a bit baggy on you now since the New Year. Good luck with the Saturday weigh-in! Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013 A Well Trained Brain Shaping up subtracts inches from your waistline-while adding minutes to your attention span. In a study published in the journal PLOS ONE, athletes were better able to maintain attention on a monotonous task than their sedentary counterparts were. Researchers believe greater heart rate variability ( a result of being fit) is a sign your autonomic nervous system (which controls involuntary functions) is running well while also appears to be linked to better cognitive performance. |

Seems I am stagnating where I am right now. That is not good. I hope you can get an appointment soon for your wisdom tooth. I hate going to the dentist, but I do go. Hope you get that problem fixed painlessly as possible and quickly too. Snow!?! Wow, today was really nice here. It was in the 60's and sunny. I had some rain sprinkling one me as I walked this morning, but that was very light and only for a few minutes. Went to Tractor Supply today and saw the baby ducks and chicks. They are so sweet. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday! Tip of the Day from Fitness Magazine, Nov/Dec 2013 I've Hit a Weight-loss Plateau, and Now My Scale Won't Budge. Once you drop pounds, your body becomes more efficient at burning calories, which makes losing more weight difficult. The fix: Tweak your workout. Turn up the burn. A high-intensity session zaps more calories after you stop working out than a moderate exercise does because your body maintains increased levels of certain fat-burning enzymes. Adding strength-training sessions can move the needle too. Do 20 minutes of resistance and you'll not only burn 128 calories during your workout, but also continue to torch more afterward because lifting weight raises your resting metabolic rate. |

Just to make it feel more like Spring too, but inside. :sunny: Tip of the Day from Fitness Magazine, Nov/Dec 2013 Your waistline One bad night's sleep reduces the body's ability to process sugar the next day and leads to greater fat storage, a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found. You can thank a triple threat of hormones that go haywire with too little slumber: ghrelin, which makes you crave fatty and sugary foods; leptin, which regulates how much you eat; and cortisol, which tells your body to hold on to visceral fatty tissue around the abdominals. |
