I'm not taking vacation time for jury duty. It is just that I have to use up some vacation days. I'm like you on decorating for Christmas. I don't get in the mood any more. Maybe it's because I don't have any little ones around. Maybe I'm the Grinch. Who knows. I also need to work on myself more in the new year. I've been trying to please all people but not myself.

Susie
Yikes on the bathroom ordeal. Glad that your phone survived. I keep my phone handy but I'm lucky that the washer and dryer are next to the bathroom. I keep it on the dryer.

Dee
I'm not much of a sports fan of any kind. I do like an occasional down hill ski
show on t.v. and I like the ice skaters.

Shad
Hope things will settle down for you once you are back home.

Hello's to Laura, Terra, Annie
--------
So far the rain has been slow but we had a bunch of it. The ditches in the median are almost full. It's been in the lower 40's.
Today I don't have any stamina. Therefore I'm not pushing myself to do anything. In fact I lazed in bed till 9.30 this morning.
Made a pot of chicken stew last night to have for lunch this week.
My uncle requested a pillow that he saw advertised on t.v. for Christmas so I'm going to order this today. And have it sent to their home.
Going to try to clean the kitchen and bathroom today. If not they can wait till later.

Evening all. Catch up time with you all.

Annie – How’s your weekend been? I want to see Spectre – we always go see the latest James Bond movie.

Shad – No surprise you're looking forward to getting home – you’ve been gone a long time and hardly been back at all during that time! And it’ll be so nice to have the family around. Or did you say one son and his partner are going on a cruise? Will they be around for the holiday?? Looking forward to seeing the photos from your weekend sightseeing. Too bad about the cameral giving you problems...

Dee – How was your holiday with the family? Your scalloped potato dish sounds tasty with the two types of taters. LOL re the “pink panther poo” dessert.

Happy – Sounds like your new recipes were a success. Yeh, the green slime dessert is just a thing that pops up at my family’s holiday dinners now and then and has for years. Having made it with the crushed pineapple this time around, I think I like it better without. Actually, I wouldn’t mind making that strawberry pretzel jello dessert thingy – I never made it, but I’ve had it a few times and it’s yummy. I don’t know about decorations on State Street, though Macy’s still has their holiday window displays...I’ll have to walk over and take a look sometime in the next week or two. ---Re your hubby dropping the rx plan – I hope that works out for him. All these years having an FSA with no issues, and this year I have this giant balance to use. Aaargh.--- Good to hear that the shelter software is coming along.--- Maybe if you just focus on the aspects of Christmas that you like, you’ll get in the spirit. I don’t like it creeping into the Thanksgiving space, and get a bit put out with people decorating so early (some in the neighborhood had a tree up before Thanksgiving). And the commercialism of it stinks, of course. But I do like the lights. And putting up the tree – for me it’s all the memories associated with all my ornaments.

Susie – Sounds like you had a nice, relaxing Thanksgiving. But what happened with the sink overflow – NOT relaxing!! Glad nothing got damaged with all that water, especially your cell phone! I liked your Thanksgiving post. So true.

Ceejay – I hope you didn’t get all that rain that was forecast! The fleece tops sound cozy – and what a deal for you. I was really not in the mood to shop over the weekend at all, even online, but I did get out Saturday and today for some mundane stuff, not gift stuff. Well, one gift. My mom likes those Ferrero Rocher candies and CVS had a buy one, get one free deal on them, so I officially have started my Christmas shopping!

Hellos to Terra and Michelle – miss you & hope to see you back here soon!

--
Well, my long weekend is down to tonight and tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday were busy with food prep and some cleaning. My Thanksgiving was nice, just bf and I, his mother, and two friends – nice and quiet. However, we had the usual hectic last minute kitchen stuff. I really would like bf to be more organized and do more upfront prep so there’s less of that. Sigh. Food turned out well though considering we’ve not done a full-out turkey dinner with all the typical sides. I made a fresh cranberry sauce with some orange zest and orange juice and a cinnamon stick – yum. I might process a bit of that with a bit of mayo to use for a turkey sandwich (a local restaurant has that on their menu – yum). Have to use all that leftover turkey and sides somehow.

Friday was rainy and chilly. We lazed around all day. My only physical activity was a dog walk. Saturday I had my brows done, then did a bit of run-of-the-mill shopping at a couple places. Took advantage of a 25% shopping pass at CVS, but some stuff was still cheaper at Walmart, where I went afterwards. Last night we watched “The Imitation Game” on dvd. I’m glad I finally saw it – it was a good movie.

Today we got outside and raked leaves in the backyard (hardly any in the front – nice!). I’m gonna be sore tomorrow from the raking and from the bending to put the leaves into the yard waste bags. Right now I’m just fatigued, and of course my hands are throbbing from gripping the rake. But I’m glad that’s done. And the tree out back is nearly clean of leaves!

We'd finally bought our patio set cover just before that big snow Saturday before last, and it was nice to have the set covered in time for that heavy snowfall. But I noticed that melting snow/rain accumulates on the table where the cover dips down (the seat backs are higher than the table). So today I went to the dollar store and looked for some type of inflatable toy that I can put on top of the table under the cover, like what they do for pool covers I think. In the boy’s toy area, I found a Ninja bop bag, LOL. Sort of like one of those kiddie punching thingies that have a weighted bottom I remember from way back when. This one doesn’t have a weighted bottom – I have no idea how it’s supposed to work as a toy, but I hope it works for my purposes.

I also bought a bunch of small plastic baskets for our entry closet shelves. It was such a mess with all the hats, scarves, gloves, ball caps, etc. I sorted that stuff into baskets – his, hers, scarves, gloves, hats, etc. I hope this works for us. If not, it’s only a few bucks anyway, and the baskets can be used elsewhere. I LOVE the dollar store. Hey, I even found a Rodney Yee yoga dvd there. I’ve never done one of his workouts, but I’ve definitely heard of him re yoga, so I thought I’d spring the buck for the dvd and give it a try.

Well, I have one more day off tomorrow and no firm plans. I’m thinking of getting a massage... The park district winter session starts this week though and I intend to take the intermediate Pilates class again - a Monday night class. Sigh. I will have to suck it up and get myself registered for it and go to class - first one is tomorrow night. And I will buy a group fitness punchcard!!! I need my exercise!!!

Okay, that’s it for me, so I’ll get this posted.

What beautiful country! I love the pictures. And I envy all your travels.

Laura
I need to rake some more leaves this week end.

------
Back to work this morning after a decent week end. Yesterday I felt out of sorts and just laid around and watched NCIS. Before I went to bed I had a sick stomach ugh. I hate that. My stomach is sore this morning. All the symptoms are pointing to my ulcer.

Howdy All.

A bit chilly today. Started full force at cardiac rehab this morning. We only exercise for one hour. I did recumbent bike, thread mill, elliptical, and some other type of machine, stretches and cool down. Most my levels were either 4 or 5 out of 1-10. Only for 5 minutes each. My BP and heart rate were perfect the entire time. Start BP was 108/53, after cool down it was 112/58. During it was a little higher but not much. I even kind of broke a small sweat. I have 10 more sessions then on to maintenance.

Let's see. Thursday C and I got up and went to the 10 am showing of Spectre, the James Bond movie. We really like it, but I believe I like the last one better, Sky something. Sky Fall I believe. I recommend seeing it if you are a James Bond fan. We then went over to my brother's house for a 2nd TG. My bro from IL was there with his family. It was a nice time. Came home and vegged out.

Friday, Sis and I went to Hobby Lobby, lunch at Cracker Barrell, got a few Christmas gifts there, then came home, vegged out with C.

Saturday, was a meeting, then my off to Aldi's with my daughter, Waffle House for breakfast, then my son came up. We hung out all evening. He stayed the night as did the g-babes then on Sunday, C, Sis, DS, the babes and I went to Olive Garden for DLinner, then home again to veg out.

All and all it was a very nice 4 day weekend, we all laughed a lot, which is high priority in my books.

Here we all are on this cold Monday afternoon. Burrrrr.

Sounds like everyone had a nice time off and/or TG. Sounds like all are happy.

Make it a great night/day.

Hugs.

Last in, first out.

We had leftovers for dinner last night. C had Olive Garden, I had grilled fish from Cracker Barrell. Sis came over to make copies of papers she needed and we went to bed.

SHADDIE...you take lovely pictures as does HAPPY's DH.

LAURA...too bad I am not allowed to rack or shovel yet. haha. NOT.

SUSIE...you must have playful gnomes or ghosts in your house. Oh how fun...NOT.

CEEG...I think I am going to make turkey and noodles to get rid of the turkey.

CHELLE...back to work yet?

TERRA...where did you go?

DEE...any kind of taters sound good about now.

HAPPY...are you going to decorate this year?

Thats about it for me. Have a great day/night.

Hugs

Good morning all,

Got about 3 inches of the white stuff this morning. That's better than the 6 we might have gotten. I decided not to go to the shelter this morning in case it was as nasty as they said it was going to be. Still have to go to the thrift shop this afternoon although I'm not sure how many people will be out shopping in this weather. It's still softly snowing - a fine, almost crunchy looking kind of snow. We looked out in the yard and there were 33 turkeys milling about. The flock has grown. That's a little too much. And last night a new crew of about 8 deer came prancing up our driveway like it was the most natural thing. The funny thing was, there were 2 new bucks in the group. Deer hunting with a gun ends today (thank goodness) and the hunters were all complaining they are not seeing any bucks to hunt. And here we have 4 in our yard I guess they got the word (the deer not the hunters) this is a safe sanctuary. Everyone behaved themselves, the new group was understandable skittish. DH put some feed out and whomever got it, got it.

I am crazy busy - was offered an art lesson but my first "open" day is maybe on the 14th. Right now I have scaffolding that reaches to the ceiling and takes up 1/3 of the room for DH to do some repairs. I have a feeling that is going to stay up until well after Christmas so I'm not sure how much I will be decorating. Perhaps the open loft area can be made to look festive while the rest of the house is looking like new construction. I'm sure DH is going to make a mess of dust and such too based on the repairs that need to be done.

Annie - sounds like life is tooling along nicely for you. You are a trooper with the cardiac rehab - I looked at all you have done and for someone who doesn't like gym based exercise - you sure did a lot. And didn't complain either! I hope you are balancing joy and need to do in your life.

Shad - as always loved your pictures. That stained glass is strikingly beautiful. I'm glad you got to travel a bit and see the sights. Seems like you have been stuck in the office far too much the last few months. That's a really nice picture of you that you had on Facebook. The hair style is a bit different too - a touch longer - I like that also.

Ceejay - hope you feel better today.

Laura - had to laugh - I think next to "next year I'll get into shape" the next most popular "next year" is getting more organized about the holiday planning and such. And then the holidays creep up on us and we are in the whirl again I am enjoying the more simplified approach myself. Good thinking on the blow up doll for the patio set. Will save wear and tear on the cover for sure.

Hi Dee & Susie.

I see that we have rolled into another new month (ALREADY!) but I don't have time right now to set up a new thread. DH has a webinar at 1 and needs the "snow" car and I have to be at the shop by 1 so he will have to take me early and give me a ride. Which means I need to hop in the shower now and find something quick for lunch unless I want to go all the way until dinner without eating something Will just have to address the new thread later.

Be good all and stay warm.
