The Worldlies Jump into July and Leave the Junk Behind
Boom.... shooting us into a new month. Thanks Annie for the great title suggestion.
I hope to leave junk behind this month - literally and figuratively. Let me go finish the admin stuff to set the thread up and I'll be back with comments. Click here to link back to our June thread |
Ok, that's done. Morning all. Crazy busy day at the shop yesterday. We had the best sales day of the year so far. Almost $1100. I was dog tired when I got home last night. I have so many things to do between personal and shelter stuff that it's easy to get paralyzed from what to do next. Deep breath, prioritize and get busy.
DH decided he did not like the way our new printer printed photos so he packed it up and sent it back. Now we don't have a printer. *big sigh* He is like a bull in a china shop sometimes and is getting worse as he ages. Jumps to conclusions quickly, doesn't think things through. So I guess I have to add looking for a printer to the list of things to do... Annie - you are so right on the wedding expenses. Do what we did - I threatened DH, he conceded, I called a church, we were married 2 weeks later. I called people on the telephone. No formal invites, no showers, no fancy wedding dress. My only regret is not having good pictures - we only have candid not very good shots that are fading as the years pass. Used to be it was the meal and bar bill that was the biggest expense. Now there is so much to do with weddings, I think it's crazy. I would put a playlist on my Ipod and bring in my Bose speakers :D Seriously I think part of the DJ expense is the sound system and music rights - so complicated now a days. Yay on only having one daughter! I hope in the end it will turn out nice and memorable and not break the bank. What a nice surprise to pass along the cheese crackers to the kids. Ceejay - congrats on the 10 pounds down. That is great. Glad you enjoyed your peaceful day off. Get ready for retirement! Shad - I would fall over exhausted if I had to live your working life. :faint: I just don't have the energy for that anymore - I'm glad you can keep up with it. I also don't envy having to deal with the Indian way of thinking - your post made me smile. I'm thinking you are shopping for the wee one again? Good luck with that. Get her a puppy. :D Michelle- gotta love impossible deadlines. NOT. Yikes! Hope you can keep it together and get them what they want. Laura - to be quite honest, I am starting to resent (just a bit) of all the time I am having to devote to the shelter. I keep saying it will get better next week/ after the next event but there is always something coming up. We are halfway through the summer at this point and there are garages to be cleaned out, basements to be tidied up and things to do both work and fun here. It also sometimes causes frustration on the home front. Hard to keep a balance between which needs count most. I'm glad you found a corner cabinet to replace the old one. And I understand what you like about the old, traditional cookbooks. I find them very interesting to look at from those days when there was not prepackaged, cleaned stuff and one had to grow their own food, pluck chickens and there was a lot more that went into food preparation. Actually I was watching a documentary a few years back that said that around the time I got married in the mid 70's, as more women entered the work force in greater numbers, the food industry revolutionized cooking by coming up with things like Ragu Cooking Sauce - just add meat and make the best pork chops or chicken cacciatori (sp) that you ever tasted. That's when the 1950's home economics majors turned in their aprons for a business suit and tv dinners and store bought bread - and a pack of Virginia Slims cigarettes ;) You've come a LONG way baby. Different times indeed. Hello to the rest of you fine ladies. The washer and dryer are telling me it's time to flip and fold. Off to get busy. Happy July. |
Good Morning Peeps!!
Went over to Sissy's house last evening to deliver all the uneaten "kid" food the babes didn't eat while at my house. She was glad to get them as her cupboards were kind of bare. Even took a gallon of milk and another partial gallon over. They should be set til Friday at least. Jacob was napping and Royce was in his seat eating of course. Dry Crispex cereal was the snack of choice. haha. Sis told me this morning that Jacob was very happy after his nap that I had dropped some "orange square crackers" (Cheez Its) off for him. lol Who knew the wedding invites was going to be one of the most expensive items on the list. This wedding is killing me. And to think we are going the least expensive way we can on everything. The DJ is $650. and that is cheap for a DJ. Glad I only have one daughter now. Posting will be back. |
CEEG...CONGRATS on the 10 lbs down. Wow what a motivator to be down to weight you have not seen in a while. Yahooooooooooooo!! Any major step in life will give you jitters, you will be fine and wonder what took you so long to do it in the first place...hugs. The sun is actually shining today, hopefully the tomatos will take notice!
SHADDIE...I feel your pain on the decision makers at work that cannot make a decision but worse than that cannot stick with the decision. CHELLE...did your project get done in time and was it a successful presentation? LAURA...I, too have too many cookbooks, many are handed down. I did pass a few on to Sissy so that helped. HAPPY...how did your day at the zoo, I mean thrift shop go? Hello to all. Hugs |
Morning all,
Tonight is moving night. Guess I won't get to see the computer tonight. I'm going to another place for 3 weeks or so as the place had been hired out long before I got there and I was only accepted with that proviso. Maybe I will like her other place so much I won't want to come back. I would imagine it would be easier to rent the beach house than one in the suburbs. Anyway, back onto the joys of dealing with a cast of international would be diva and divo. Chinese, Indian, English and Philippino (and of course me) all of whom are getting antsy because the deadlines are closing and they aren't ready, the system isn't ready, the training material isn't ready, and my laptop isn't behaving. |
Afternoon all. I held off on posting until a new thread was set up. Thanks Happy for doing that.
Michelle – Did you get the design to the boss for presentation? How did it go? Annie – Is the dang report getting closer to being a final version? Even though I have an odd fascination with those wedding gown tv shows, the idea of a wedding just sounds like a PITA. I like the idea of a big celebration, but not the formalities of weddings - fancy invitations, bridesmaids and groomsmen, DJ/band, etc. Shad – Sounds like you’re working with frustrating people. Ceejay – Great job on the weight loss!!! Whoohoo!! I can see having the jitters over a future move – that’s a big life change. Happy - Thanks for setting up the new thread! I don't have any cookbooks as old as "go out back and butcher a chicken", LOL. But when you mentioned women working outside the home in the 70's, you brought to mind one of the cookbooks I put in the donation bag - one published by the folks from the defunct 80's (?) magazine "Working Woman". Tips and recipes for the busy working woman who has to also get all the meals prepared for hubby and kids. So dated sounding now. I glanced through a section about working women's lunch ideas, but decided it wasn't worth keeping. Hellos to the rest of you. -- Over the weekend, I bought $20 worth of raffle tickets for the myriad gift cards being raffled off by “my” team – 24 tickets – and won nothing. I bought two raffle tickets ($2) from a neighboring team’s booth and won a gift basket, LOL. A woman dropped it off at the house yesterday. The items are from a local boutique and included a candle (which apparently melted from being in the sun at the Relay event and leaked a bit (even though it’s in a covered tin for traveling) and I don’t see a wick now…It also had bath salts, “sluffing [sp] salts”, a bottle of champagne, a certificate for a sauna session (??) and a $25 gift card for the boutique. It must have been the champagne that attracted me to this basket, LOL. But I’ll get over to the boutique sometime soon and see if they have anything that appeals to me. The boutique's website seems like it'll be a bit pricey and too fussy for me, but I'll give it a shot. Well, emptying out that old cabinet was the PITA I thought it would be. I didn’t get rid of many “display items”. Two old semi-collectible ceramics are going to the thrift shop. One is missing a lid and the other is part of a 2-piece mixing bowl set of which I only have 1 piece, and is in poor condition to boot. Three plain old vases that come from the florist went down in the basement for the next time they're needed. I have a few nicer vases more worthy of displaying that I'll keep upstairs. The cookbooks were somewhat difficult to pare down but I ended up with one full shopping bag of them to donate, though I don’t know who would want them. I take that back, people like my mother might want them. She’s the one who gave me the majority of them. Anyway, it was hard for me because I would scan through a book and see a recipe that looked tasty and think it might be worth preparing…but then I tried to be more logical about it. Have I ever made a recipe from this cookbook in all the years and years I’ve had it? If not, it’s unlikely to happen in the future. Do I know who the cookbook author/publisher is, and do I have any confidence the recipes are any good? There were a few very generic pocketbook-sized paperback cookbooks that were mysteries to me. But if it was published by Betty Crocker or Good Housekeeping, I’m more likely to keep it on the basis that maybe they actually test their recipes... Are there any photos? If not, that’s a negative. Do the recipes say “cook until done”? :D Another negative. If not for cooking, does it still interest me/have entertainment value? For example, I can’t seem to get rid of my 1966 Weight Watchers cookbook for that reason – it’s funny to look at the bizzare recipes and see how restrictive the program was back then (the word “legal” is used in it in reference to some foods, hahaha). Bf’s concert (Doobie Brothers) wasn’t rained out, thankfully, but the weather got a bit chillier than was ideal. But they enjoyed the show. When they got back to the house (late), the old cabinet was empty and they moved it out to the curb. Then they moved the new cabinet in. Since this new one is a corner cabinet, it really makes the room feel less cramped. I’ll take a photo once the new cabinet’s been cleaned and filled. This cabinet has a light in it, but we don’t have an outlet near this corner, darn it. I added this to the list of small jobs we will (someday) have an electrician come in to do. It was another late night last night and I’m sure it’ll be catching up to me…I already feel less than alert. Tonight’s a hair appointment and that’s enough for me. Well, I’ve rambled enough for today. I’ll hold off on posting this for a bit, in the event someone (else, lol) starts a new thread for July. TTFN. |
Hi girls
Feels good to b back home, but after seeing so many things I have to catch up on, plus the bills I want to run away. I love the new thread name :smug: My home clothes r feeling snug :o too much eating as if I was on a cruise ship w endless food available or @ Las Vegas.... I gotta Eat CLEAN for about 2 weeks until I can zip all my size 10 shorts, slacks again loosely. At least my jeans have some spandex & r comfortable & I have several sundresses for the heat. I packed away all the comfy shorts/skorts w elastic waist-bands I wore on our 10 day vacation (fast-food=fat food :p). Ceeg, congratulations on your retirement plans :yay: & on the -10 pound loss. Looks like u can take some time to relax & enjoy yourself, now that your future important issues r laid in place to follow. I'm happy that u followed your intuition/gut, instead of letting your brain get overwhelmed by all the advice from other ppl. This is about u not them. Annie, yup weddings can b overwhelming. I love everything that your Dd is doing & her inlaws beautiful wedding location. I think the save-the date cards r a unnecessary expense. I have 2 on a shelf & 1 that came as a magnet on my fridge. When the invitations arrive I'll place them out to view & also write in my day planner & electronics after my RSVP is returned, so why do I actually need a save-the date card :dizzy: use that $ on the honeymoon. Phone is ringing, b back later today. |
Morning all...just not feeling it today. Kind of blah. At least we are going to have 3 sunny days in a row. FINALLY.
DEE...glad you made it back home safely. I can't wait to get back into my size 10's. Got a ways to go tho. Yes and the wedding is not where all the $$ are going, it is the reception. YIKES....the save-the-date cards are the "now" thing. Like all these people's lives are so busy, you have to save the date months in advance. Whateva! LAURA..yes the report is final. SO what does my boss forward me? This is how M does in in the Pacific NW. Well I know from a good source the M does not do much but sit around with her thumbs up her heiny and has all this time to put into doing a report. Nope not going to do it. If you cannot find anything for yourself at the boutique, maybe buy for someone else and save it for a birthday or something. DMIL?? SHADDIE...all I can say is may the force be with you!! HAPPY...thanks for setting up the new thread. You rock sister... Hello to all, Hugs |
Good morning all,
Quick post for me, got to run over to the shelter and meet with the mgr and asst mgr about what they need in the way of shelter management software. Actually it will be me asking a bunch of questions to try and figure out what they need so that I can then weed through the package offerings and pick something that will work. Put on my analyst tin hat. Then I need to stop at Walmart and pick up some supplies - both for me and for the thrift shop. Then the rest of the day is mine. Finish laundry, do some decluttering. We have a big steak to make tonight - looking forward to that. Although we might defer it one more day to try the bbq ribs at a place we keep forgetting to go to and Thursdays is rib day. Annie - I think the save the date cards are dumb too. That's what we used to call invitations  BUT I do get what you are saying, people follow trends today - like having sleeveless gowns when they have flabby, tattooed arms - that makes me crazy. I think tv has been the downfall of this generation. Kids watch stuff like Platinum Weddings and David Tutera and everyone thinks they should have the same. And no, I am not talking about Sissy - thank goodness she has a practical head on her shoulders. Maybe that's because Mom raised her well ;) OMG - I laughed so hard at your description of M on the west coast and how she spends her day :lol3: isn't that the truth  Get real buds. Dee - you are probably full of sodium and preservatives from the fast food. I'm sure eating clean for even a week will make you feel right with the world again. Also, sometimes when camping, it's hard to eat the good stuff if you don't have refrigeration other than a cooler. Glad you had a good time. Laura - I agree with you on the whole wedding circus hassle thing. I originally started to plan a formal wedding and then we put plans on hold when DMIL got diagnosed with cancer. When we picked back up again, I decided it was just too much of a hassle and we went with a tiny, informal but intimate celebration. Everyone attending said it was one of the nicest weddings they had been at - we all sat and talked and had a good time. Everyone got a chance to mix with one another. And I had lots of booze because after all, it was the 70's ;) I would do the same again today if I had to re-do it. Just get better pictures. Argh isn't that a pistol about buying all those tickets for your team and then winning on the 1 ticket you bought elsewhere? But at least you won something. Hope they will have something of interest to you. How was the Doobie Bros concert without Michael McDonald? Or is he back touring with them again. He is THE sound of the Doobies for me - like Peter Cetera for Chicago or John Fogerty for CCR. How many liver recipes are in the WW cookbook? I remember they REALLY pushed that a lot. Yuk. Otherwise I'm sure it would be an interesting book. Tomato Aspic anyone? I also agree with you that I am more drawn to cookbooks with pictures. They say you eat with your eyes first. Guess so. Shad - happy moving. I hope the new place is not inconvenient. I'm sure you will miss the water views. Geez you sure work in a tower of Babel don't you? It used to be like that when I first started working, now it's mostly Indians, Russians and Chinese. Or at least that's how it was 3 years ago. Time to get moving - at least I don't have to shower first - why if I will just come home covered in dog kisses and all sorts of fur? Have a good one peeps. |
Morning
Need to get out and pay some bills and I'm going to enjoy the couple of days off. My co-worker wanted the 4th off so I'm taking Labor day off. This is when I have plans to go to visit with my sister in Missouri and do some important things before I move. ------- Happy Thanks for setting up the new thread for us and Annie love the name of the thread. Happy is this what I have to look forward to in retiring. You stay as busy as I do. Annie Weddings can be expensive. I'd never heard of a Save the Date until my nephew's wedding. Dee Glad you are home safe and sound. Laura Good for you in paring down the cook books. Glad that BF had a good time at the Doobie brothers concert. More later. |
Morning all. The commute was dreary, but it looks like it brightened up! :sunny:
Happy - Enjoy the doggies and other creatures at the shelter. I hope the HS has good options for shelter software. Never thought of special software just for shelters, but there's certainly a need! Re weddings - I think the invitees care most about having good food and liquor, and music for dancing (and like you said - an iPod attached to a sound system would suffice for the music). And photos to memorialize it all, of course. But all the extraneous stuff - even the cake! - is probably not all that important to the invitees. Who will really care much about or remember the little favors at each table, or the fancy invitations, etc. People need to put the focus on the marriage and not the wedding!! Re the Doobie's - bf said he enjoyed the concert, dunno if he thought it was lacking without M. McDonald. Interesting - when he went to see Peter Frampton the week before, McDonald was also performing in that concert, and bf said he really enjoyed him, and more than Frampton. Enjoy your big steak tonight. :hun: Annie – Sorry you’re feeling blah. I guess the sun is coming just in time!! :sunny: Re save the dates – I guess it’s a “nice to have” thing. Nicer if you could just do it via e-mail…I should think the people you really want to attend will already know the date and save it… Good idea to buy a gift with the gift card if I don’t see anything I want at the boutique. Dee – Welcome back home! Hope you catch up on all the stuff that’s been waiting for you at home. I’m sure you’ll be comfy in your clothes again after settling back into your usual eating habits. :) Shad – So in another 3 weeks you’ll be moving back to your original digs? Another move!! :faint: Ceejay – So you’ll be working on the 4th (Saturday)? At least you’ll have Labor Day off. Enjoy your weekend. :) Hellos to the rest of you. I hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July. :) -- I had my hair appointment last night and dinner was a delicious cheeseburger bf grilled. I got to bed at a reasonable time. I woke up at about 4 am when the lamp on my side suddenly came on. We have those attachments on the bedroom lamps that turn it into a touch on/off and every once in a while they flake out. Thanksfully, I fell back asleep easily. Today’s a shortened workday – 3 pm closing. The boss and another department member are going to be out of the office on Mon/Tues next week, so it’ll be quiet here. I’ve gotten a lot done this week and will still have plenty to do next week. We're good on our deadlines, so yay for that. Not much in the way of weekend plans, which I like. There's our village’s annual festival. There’s also the one in the neighboring burb and we have plans to go to a concert at that one with friends. Otherwise I hope to get a lot done around the house and yard. Another ad from Home Depot shows mulch on sale $2 per bag. Whoo! Need to stock up. That’s it for me, so I’ll post now. :twirly: |
Happy ~ Yeah it seems to be pretty popular, I dont know if I will find the seasons at the library or not but I hope I do but if I have to buy them thats okay too.
Susie ~ Yeah I bought new frames. Yeah I'm really glad that Scott gets to come home earlier on Thursday's now. Annie ~ Yeah its really great that Scott gets to come home earlier on Thursdays Laura ~ Nope I havent went to the library yet but I hope they have the seasons of One Day At A Time. That would be awesome but like I told Happy if I have to buy the seasons thats okay. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've been up sine 5:55 this morning. Its now 5:29 p.m. I worked out earlier today and I'll do it again tonight. We might go to walmart tonight after mom gets home from work, She gets off at 8:00 p.m. and She should be home by 8:15-8:20 tonight. I cleaned my mask and tube this morning and I did the dishes as well. So I got alot done today. Usually I have school but our new vacuum was schedule to get delivered today so I stayed home so I could bring it in when it got here and thats what I did. I wont go to school again until next Wed. on the 8th and Thursday on the 9th. Then on either the 10th or 11th My friend and I are gonna go to lunch and then we're gonna go see a movie, She wants to see the new Jurassic World movie, I've already seen it but it was so good I dont mind seeing it again, She doesnt want to go by herself and then depending if we go on Friday the 10th, Scott and I will go see the new Terminator on the Sat. the 11th. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend. |
Hello and Happy 4th weekend. Yep since the 4th came on Saturday, we had the option of using it as a floater day off. I used mine last Friday to take care of the lil grands. So there are about 3 people here today. Feels like a morgue. We do get early release today. I am leaving around noon the others at various time after that. Woke up to thunder boomers this morning, all is wet and mostly drowned. Rolly polly bugs are everywhere including my house. One milipede was found in the bathroom. Yik. We need dry weather. After all this rain moves out around noon today, we are SUPPOSED to have 3 days of sunshine. Certainly going to do yard work and weed the garden. Going to Sissy's house after I leave here. We are going to lunch then to Hobby Lobby to see what we can do about table decorations for the tables at the reception. THe shower, the wedding, and all is making be a HUGE NUT BAG.
LAURA...HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON SUNDAY....just in case I don't make it back in here. Mailed your card but don't know if it will get there in time. I think it is a pretty cute one this time, especially the envelope. lol. I agree with you and HAPPY about all the wedding BS. Sis is really trying to cut back on everything and being economical, I just want her to be happy with it and not certainly do not want to disappoint her. It is hard when it is your own child on anything in life. Plus you all know I am a sap and big baby. lol TERRA...better get good rest the next week or so, you have a busy schedule lined up. Have fun with your friend's day out. HAPPY...I, too, would not of guessed there was a particular software package for shelters and a such, but I also guess there is just about any type of anything out there for whatever it is. I love seeing DHs pix on FB. He seems like a professional..is there anywhere he can submit his pix, maybe make some $$?? Just a thought, might have to do an internet search and find something. Hello's to the rest of youse! Firecracker, firecracker, boom boom boom!!! Hugs and everyone be safe this weekend. |
Morning all,
Day before Independence Day - big summer holiday. Half of summer is over - at least for us :( Hasn't been very warm at all. My garden is not doing too well except for the arugula. Pea plants are small but are pushing out peas. Yesterday I ran into town - Walmart was a ZOO - geez. I had the misfortune of being behind what looked like a cute old lady who decided she wanted Walmart to price match half of her order. She had flyers from 3 different stores and then could not find all the items to point out to the clerk in the sales flyers. Must have taken me an hour to get through the line. I was ready to give her 20 bucks just so she'd move along. Please don't do your weekly shopping and price match when there are a hundred people in line. On the way through town the strawberry farm lady had her truck parked at the furniture store - seems to be the gathering place for all sales from your car/truck. ;) Bought a big pail of strawberries - oh so fresh. They were pricy but I am tired of buying them in the store and within 2 days they are all moldy if I leave them out and rubbery if I put them in the refrigerator. This way they were picked this morning and I hope they last more than 3 days. I might freeze some too. Got some fresh rhubarb I can also use. Met a friend at the store and she is always looking to go out to dinner - her hubby is also a friend and he does not like to go out. So we roped him into going to dinner with us. We went for all you can eat bbq ribs. They were delicious but they are smoked and for some reason my stomach is sensitive to smoked flavors. About 2 hours after we ate, I got a terrible stomach ache and kept tasting the smokiness of the ribs. I guess I have to cross that off the list. Too bad because they were really tasty and meaty. I should go to yoga today but I am just not up to it. I haven't gone in 3 weeks. I am bad. I can feel the bones tightening up, should do a video if I don't go to class. I did sign up for my regular yoga in September. I have today to myself and will spend it tidying up and doing housework and laundry. I keep telling myself I should get out into the garage and go through some boxes. Before you know it, it will be getting too cool to work outside and with the eye surgery I won't be able to bend over for 4 weeks at least so that blows away August productivity. Too many things screaming to be done at once, all with the same tight deadlines ;) and we haven't taken the ATV out once yet this year. I don't want another year to pass where we didn't use that expensive UTV we bought at all. This weekend there are too many crazy weekend warriors who are wild and stupid so I don't like to go out among them. Maybe mid week next week we can take a trip out. Annie - I admit it can be a bummer when you have to trim expenses for something you want to be special. I do hope that amongst everything, Sissy has fun with the wedding planning. It should be a celebration, not a hassle. I would probably be trolling the internet for inexpensive wedding decorations. You could get a nice round glass bowl, put a votive candle and some rocks or silk flowers and make a nice decoration without spending a lot. Don't forget to hit up the thrift stores too - they always have tons of cheap glassware. I hope you get some sunshine headed your way. Certainly seems to be a lot of rain this summer. We aren't so rainy, but it's cooler than usual I think which is why the plants are stunted. Thanks for the reminder about Laura's birthday - sorry Laura - your card will be late :o Thank you for the compliment on DH's photos. Many people have suggested that he sell them and as we go to fairs I point out to him that there are a lot of people selling some really nice photographs. Once you frame and mat them, it costs a lot of money to do that and the thing is... we all admire each other's work BUT will we shell out money for that? That's the problem, people like to look at the pictures but no one wants to pay for them. :dunno: I am just glad he has a hobby he enjoys. It keeps his brain active, gives him a bit of a self esteem boost that he can do something well (despite Dad's telling him otherwise when he was growing up) and it keeps him OUT OF MY HAIR. Except when he wants me to take road trips and I have other stuff to do. But I am not complaining. I know far too many couples where the woman goes one way and the man the other and they only meet at the table for supper. ;) Enjoy your quiet day at the office and early release. Unless I was away on vacation, I'd rather do what you did - take an alternate day off and come in when it's less busy AND you get out early. :yay: Yes, there is some specific computer packages for animal shelters. I was once not a big fan of a generic package - mold your business into our package but I do accept that sometimes like this, it does no good to reinvent the wheel. And most shelters have a standard business model so it's just the amount of bells and whistles and cash you want to lay out. We also want something cloud based so that the people who need to get to the information can access it from the internet which saves us time and money not having to get computers for the office. Will be interesting. But first I have to get through the Tag Day fundraiser a month from today. Ceejay - yes, you can be busy in retirement BUT the wonderful thing is, you can be as busy as you choose to be. Especially when you are an unpaid volunteer. It's very freeing to set your own pace. You just have to be strong about not getting sucked into doing too much (as I often do). Of course it's more fun to work at the thrift store than stay home and scrub floors and do laundry, right? I am sure you will find a niche to make you happy. Laura - oh oh - you had to mention Peter Frampton, didn't you? Strains of Feel Like I Do running through my head again. :lol3: I am drooling at the idea of BF's yummy grilled hamburger. We deferred the big steak until tonight - I am looking forward to that. Have fun at the festival - we always watched your town's fireworks festival because that was the closest one to our house. A few years we even walked there. Happy early birthday to you. Are you doing anything special to celebrate? Terra - sounds like you have a pretty busy week ahead. It's nice to have some fun things planned. I guess everyone is loving that new Jurrasic Park movie. It looks rather overcast outside - they said 50 percent chance of rain but I don't see much on the radar. I like when it rains, was a pain dragging the big long heavy hose wayyyyyy across the yard on both sides, one to get the flower garden, then on the back side to get the veggies and in between getting the bird bath and dog bowl/turkey watering trough cleaned out and filled. Have a good weekend everyone! Hope your move is not too much of a hassle Shad. |
Happy
Hadn't thought about the year being half over with. I'm having my food celebration today. I'm working for L tomorrow. Laura Yum on the grilled burgers. Thought about that but I chose to have pulled chicken with bbq sauce. yum, yum. Annie I'm proud that you and your daughter are trying to cut expenses on the wedding. --------- I laid in bed this morning till 8.30. Kept telling myself that the garbage truck was not running today and finally went back to sleep. I've been feeling much better today. I've had some dizzy spells yesterday but my blood pressure was good. My pulse rate was a little low for me though. Today I've been doing laundry and preparing food for the next week. I need to eat more veggies. That FB post was aimed for my sister but I doubt that she will see it. I have my plans in place and I'm sticking to them, unless my health turns for the worse. I'm not expecting that to happen. |
Annie ~ Yeah I will get plenty of rest because your right I have a busy couple of weeks ahead
Happy ~ Yeah the new jurassic world movie is really popular. Since seeing it I have a huge crush on Chris Pratt, The main guy in the movie. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Woke up at 6:00 a.m. this morning, Its now 7:00 p.m. I'm about to head to bed soon. I did my 40 min work out to VB's dvd's today and I took out the trash and did the cans but other then those things I didnt do much around the house today. At 2 p.m. today we ran errands. We went to Walmart to pick up my glasses then we went to pick up Scott from work and then we went to 2 banks,Dillions and Chipotle to get dinner and then we came home for the day. |
Hello! I love the July thread name!!
I made it through end of fiscal....we will know sometime next week if we came in "on target". Which is $100,000 + or - what was expected. Can yo imagine having that sort of play in YOUR budget!!! :dizzy: Both DH and I were off yesterday and this weekend. We did some deeper house cleaning yesterday and then used a gift card at one of our favorite Italian restaurants to go out to dinner and celebrate our 29th 1st date anniversary last night. We met on a blind date. We had friends who were dating each other and thought we should meet...I guess they were right! ;) Today, I'm cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, finishing laundry and will de-clutter my home office a bit. I'm also reading Daniele Steele's newest novel "Country". Tonight we will stay local for fireworks. I think I see a nap sometime this afternoon too! I am happy to report a 3.4 lb loss at TOPS on Thursday night! I am really behind on personals and will just go forward from here. I really want to get back to where I read and post daily....you all are my accountability and keep me focused so I am really going to work hard to get here daily....and besides, I miss you all when I don't! The sun is FINALLY shinny here today (after rain every day last week!) and no rain predicted for today. It feels good to see the sun. Have a wonderful 4th of July everyone...and Shad.....today you can celebrate with us!!! |
Happy 4th of July to all the USA chicks. Hope you all had a wonderful day.
I have been having internet woes all weekend. It's just come back now at bedtime. Went to Hunua today. Attached a few photos. I'll be back later tomorrow for personals http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pslrhwsz5l.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pshady8nh2.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pscdsgmi2d.jpg |
What gorgeous photos Shad! Looks like a lovely place for a walk and picture taking.
Congratulations on the great weigh in Susie! Continued success! Ceejay - hope you had a quiet holiday at work yesterday. We went into town to run errands and see a friend. Another friend invited us to a casual bbq - we got to take a nice ride on their pontoon boat and they cooked up burgers and we all pitched in and made salads. I made fresh fruit kabobs with watermelon and cantaloupe. The other one had grapes, strawberries fresh from the fields, pineapple and a black cherry. We also had a tasty coleslaw, potato salad from the deli and some yummy baked beans. It was such a nice way to spend a summer holiday. Really had a good time. Afterwards we headed over to the casino to watch the fireworks. We got there about 2 hours ahead of time as it does fill up there. Unfortunately they have a fireworks stand so people were setting off fireworks all around. Of course there are a lot of kids who are less than responsible - yikes. Made for an uncomfortable amount of smoke and sulfur for me. The fireworks started at 10pm and lasted about 30 minutes. Afterwards it was jam packed trying to get out so DH and I went into the casino for a while. We left at 12:30 - I didn't realize it was so late. DH had a lucky run at the craps table and did very well for himself. I spent my budget and DH kindly covered my losses. :D He had wanted to take a trip north today to take some flower pictures at a berry farm but they don't open up raspberry picking until Tuesday. He had a headache this morning - they have changed his blood pressure medication because of swelling in his feet and vasculitis in his legs and I hope that does not bring back the migraines he used to get. Not sure what we are going to do today - I would not mind just hanging around the house but I think he wants to go out. It is going to be a hot one today. Was nice on the boat on the lake yesterday. We have to find another friend with a boat  I guess I will ask him what he wants to do and plan accordingly. Hope you are all having a good weekend. |
Had a good day yesterday at work with only one phone call. Today so far is the same thing. I decided that since yesterday was a holiday and today is Sunday I'm doing only the basic things. I did have to call the maintenance man as we are having trouble with filter number 2. I had to back wash that filter. The drain valve hasn't been closing. I tried to close it before I called him. I got it half way before my arms gave out on me. Then he tells me to use a different thing to close it but I couldn't reach it. I didn't feel safe climbing around on those big pipes. A male co-worker fell off of them when he tried the other night.
My exciting event for the night was to watch the fireworks from my bathroom window. I've been doing this for years. ------ Shad I'm so envious of you location. I'd love to walk that trail with you. Happy moving day. Happy Sounds like you had a nice time yesterday with your friends. Did DH feel like going to take some pictures? Susie Congrats on the 3 pounds lost. Hope I have a good weigh in Thursday at home. Laura Happy Birthday to you. :balloons: Did you do anything special? Terra I will definitely buy Jurassic World when it comes out on DVD. I can't handle the loudness of the movies at the theater. Hello's to the rest. |
Hi Everyone,
I took a long nap today after church. It felt great! I am not mentally ready to go back to work tomorrow, but I have to be. Once I get there and get into the swing of things it will be ok. I think I am dealing with hormones these days. I have noticed for the past 3 months, I have a pattern of where I'm really energetic and then really tired and feel weepy and out of sorts. I also find that when I feel that way, I also feel "foggy" in my thinking. I don't go for my annual until September but I will mention it then and ask him to draw my hormone levels to see if I might be in or through menopause. I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago, but still have my ovaries. For a bit they shut down and I had this sort of feelings then. Eventually they started working again and while I don't have a period I do go through the cycle somewhat. I get "that headache" and things. Who knows! I believe that I will experience a lot of things now that I have turned 50! :o Laura: :bday2you::gift: I hope you had a lovely birthday. What did you do? Happy: Your time on the pontoon boat sounds lovely! Our fireworks last night were at 10 and lasted about 30 min. It does take a bit for the traffic to thin out. That was smart that you went to the casino for a bit. How nice of Eric to cover your losses! :D I hope he gets acclimated to the new blood pressure medicine soon. Ceejay: I believe you will have a good weigh-in on Thursday. Just keep making good and healthy small changes each day. Shad: You go to the most beautiful places! Thanks for sharing your pictures. Terra: I see that you posted that you picked up your new glasses. How are you liking them? See you all tomorrow. |
Hi ladies,
Had a busy weekend housesitting and dog sitting for my friend Bob's sister Debi. I never truly appreciated how flexible and "low-maintenance" Santa is. He's so flexible and adaptable. As long as he's with me....he's fine. :D Her dog Monet is very demanding, but at least she's cute and sweet...though it took her nearly the whole weekend to warm up to me, despite numerous visits prior to Debi going out of town. I was going to go watch fireworks with Doug...but I heard from the groomer at Santa's day care who lives in the same mobile home park as Debi that it's pretty much a war zone with loud (and illegal) fireworks, so I changed my plans and stayed at home with the dogs. I'm glad I did because Monet got pretty upset at all the noise. I've been dealing with depression lately. I think part of it is because of gaining 3 lbs this past month rather than losing the 10-15 lbs that I should've. I've realized that I absolutely have to kick the sweets to the curb. It doesn't matter that I don't dump *much* when eating them, they will still make my body very sick in terms of increased insulin production and it's not out of the realm of possibility that I could become diabetic again. Also, my therapist thinks I'm probably still mourning Bob, so staying at his sister's home with all the photos of her family was a bit rough. Debi and her daughter went to Vegas to do some of the things that were left undone on Bob's bucket list. And later this month, Debi and her other daughter are going to Macchu Picchu to fulfill the biggest thing on Bob's bucket list. I've agreed to housesit for Debi during that time too...at least for the first half of her trip until I leave for my trip to southern CA for my family reunion. Sounds like a fun weekend was had by most of you. Mine was mostly spent going to the dog park and to OA (Overeater's Anonymous) meetings. I got home yesterday in time to watch the Women's World Cup Final game...Wow! what a game! I don't really follow soccer...but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game. I've signed up for two more 5Ks in August and another one in November. I'm still at a stage where I can run 1-1.5 miles and walk the rest of the way. I'm also trying to decide about what distance to do for the Rock & Roll run in September. If I do the 10K, there will be live bands throughout the course, but if I do the 5K which is the day before...no live music. I'm sure I could walk the 10K and maybe run part of it....but I might be able to run the whole 5K by then (which is what my trainer is suggesting). But no music...where's the fun in that? LOL. I need to make a decision. Well, I've got lots of work to get done so I'd better get to it. Sorry about no personals. You ladies are in my thoughts daily, and I frequently read your posts...even if I don't get to post as often as I'd like. Much love and big hugs, |
Happy Belated Birthday to Laura!!! Sorry I'm a bit late. Hope you had a great birthday weekend! :celebrate::celebrate::bday2::bday2::bday2you::bda y2you::hb::hb::woo::woo::balloons::balloons:
Susie - Congrats on the weight loss!! |
What a busy day this has been. No time to even post, my brother and SIL are coming over for dinner. Monday's are rough at work as that dumb stinking report that never seems to satisfy anyone is due by noon. Bleh, makes me in a crappy mood.
Will be back tomorrow with a better, positive post. Hugs |
Afternoon all.
Michelle – Hopefully Monet will warm up to you a bit more quickly next time! I’m so sorry you’re suffering from depression. I imagine it was hard seeing all the photos of your friend Bob over the weekend. :( I don’t get the point of the live music during the rock and roll run – do the runners actually stop enroute and watch the performances? Or is that mainly for the onlookers to enjoy? I guess if you walk part of the course it could be entertaining. Susie – Awesome weight loss last week!! Sorry you’re dealing with hormones lately. It’s smart to get the levels checked and see what's what. Hope you’re back in the swing of things at work. It's very quiet here with two department members being out. Ceejay – Glad your Sat./Sun. at work went well. Are there skeleton crews on weekends/holidays? Had to chuckle when you said you watched the fireworks out your bathroom window. :D I imagine that’s got the best view of them?? Happy – Sounds like a lovely 4th with friends, on their boat too! Ugh, don’t like the amateur fireworks – loud and scary. Congrats to your dh on his lucky run. Did you ever get out yesterday? Shad – Lovely photos – what a beautiful place you visited! I like the moss-covered boulders! Terra – How are the new eyeglasses working out? Annie – Kind of nice to be in the office when it’s so quiet…but also leave early!! Are you getting the sunshine now? We had a fantastic weather weekend, and it's nice today too. Thanks so much for the birthday card. Very cute card and envelope!:) Hello Dee! == It was a nice weekend. Good mix of fun and productivity. Naturally I can’t recall all the way back to Thursday evening, lol. On Friday morning I got out and did session #2 of digging at the sewer line dirt hump. I’m not sure I want to spread any more of that clay soil in the back of the yard in the arborvitae area. As I’ve said, it’s clay soil and not dark at all – it looks awful. I’ll almost welcome the weeds eventually poking through so the soil is less visible. In the fall, I’ll make bf mow over some leaves to make them like mulch so I can spread them over that dirt and maybe amend that soil a bit. As for the rest of the dirt hump...we'll have to find another place to dump it. On Friday night we met another couple at a nearby festival and saw Dennis DeYoung (from the band Styx) perform. It was a good show. I always forget how much I like people-watching at these events. On Saturday morning I lazed around a bit and finished watching season 6 of Mad Men and discovered that season 7 is available already on Netflix. Of course I watched an episode of season 7. An old HS friend of mine that I’ve been trading texts with lately phoned me. She’s facing hip surgery and couldn’t discuss all the details via text messages, LOL. Wow, this is now the 2nd HS friend who’s having hip surgery! Later, bf and I went out for lunch. We also bought a couple new portable chairs from a sporting goods store. We’ve had a number of these kinds of chairs over the years, none of them all that comfortable. I’d even reverted to bringing an old-school aluminum lawn chair to the annual fireworks display (the ones with the woven webbing). But when we tried out my friend S’s chair at the festival the previous night, bf decided we needed to buy a couple like hers. It’s definitely a step or two above the cheapies in price, but the support is worth it. Afterwards I took doggie for a walk and did some laundry. That night we went to our village's festival to see a local band and the fireworks. We parked in a different spot, which was a big mistake when it came time to leave. Oh well, live and learn… Otherwise, I enjoyed the band, the food, the fireworks, and the new chairs! Back home, we sat out on the patio and had a couple summer shandies and listened to some iPod music playing on the wireless speaker we got at Christmas last year. When an obnoxious neighbor a couple doors down started with the fireworks, I took doggie inside with me. We had the windows closed and AC running to block out the sound and doggie was fine. On Sunday I got out right away and went to the laundromat with the comforters and throw rugs. After breakfast, I puttered around tidying up the kitchen. Then I cleaned the interior of our new corner cabinet and put our cookbooks, knickknacks, and other stuff inside. Not all the cookbooks fit. We have a built-in book shelf in our home office. I think I’ll clear part of a shelf for the rest of the cookbooks. For my birthday, bf and I met his mother for lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant located in the downtown of the village next to ours. It was wonderful. Although bf was pooped from mowing the lawn earlier in the day, he agreed we should go buy the mulch while it was on sale. So we bought the last of what they had – 17 bags. We had a bit of help from an employee to load it in the SUV, but had to unload it ourselves back at home. Still, I’m glad we bought it since it was a good sale. We also bought a serrano pepper plant – better late than never! :D Still, I’m hopeful it'll produce, since it already has blossoms on it. After stacking the mulch in the garage, I planted the pepper plant and tied up my tomato plants (they always manage to escape the tomato cages)! Finally came watering, at which point the skeeters were trying to eat me, so doggy and I got our butts inside. That was it for my weekend. And that’s it for my long and rambling post. TTFN. |
Annie - Sorry your Monday is stressful and crappy. I hate it when things don't work as we want to.
Laura - The music is for the runners/walkers (if they want a break) and the onlookers. I just think it would be nice to hear the bands along the route. On Sunday when they have the bands, the two distances are either the 10K or the 1/2 marathon, which a woman from my Packers Fan Meetup group runs....yes, I said "runs". :faint: As I said, if I do the 10K (roughly 6.5 miles), I'll be lucky to be able to run a couple of those miles and walk the rest. I like run/walks with fun incentives like the "bubble run" which had bubble stations (like the picture I posted on FB); or the Color Run 5K I'm doing in August where you get plastered with a variety of colored paint powder so you can get your white T-shirt all multi-colored (I will have a bandana over my mouth/nose to minimize asthma issues from the powder; or the FroYo run, where you get frozen yogurt at the finish line; and I signed up for the Night Glow run/walk, where you have glow light bracelets and I think glow in the dark color powder for your white shirt. The night glow run/walk also benefits Stand Up 2 Cancer. I'd definitely do run/walks that benefit charity...and I'll probably sign up for the Relay For Life...but I'm not up for the Avon 60 mile walk (nor can I afford the entry fee or "guaranteed contribution"). Well, I've waited too long to eat and am having a blood sugar crash. Dang it. Better go get some fruit/carbs. Bleh. |
Laura
Yes we have a skeleton crew ever day. One operator per shift which is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. then to 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.. There is a stand by person in case there is a maintenance problem. Michelle Hope the depression subsides. Hopefully the more you are around Monet the more she will get used to you. Annie I hope all the kinks in the report gets worked out soon. Susie I'm not looking for a weight loss this week. To many high carb foods due to a couple of binges. I'll be happy if I stay the same. I'm getting back on track. I need to make an appointment for myself to go to the gyn. Terra, Happy and Shad  ------------ Our electronics engineer came today to fix a problem and to see if he could find another problem. And yes one of our problems was fixed and found the other problem. The boss didn't want to hear one of the major problems. Text with my cousin from Midland, TX today. She's always a joy to talk to. |
Hello again,
I kind of got coerced into going into the thrift shop tomorrow. But there are some people I want to see so it's not a total no thanks, I don't wanna do this ;) Today was a super super rainy day. Heavy storms in the area - we had to get a couple of inches of rain. I did go into town to the Farmer's Market - she had some fresh cut up chickens and I got a couple halfs for suppers. They are so much better tasting than the stuff at the store. I got tons of vegetables too - kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet onions, garlic and garlic scapes which is something totally new for me to cook up. My own garden is limping along so this was a welcome supplement. I also got some honey from the local organic farm - the neighbor's bees visit his farm. AND today was peach day - peaches from Georgia :carrot: :dancer: :yay: I got a box of 25 pounds and am going to split a box with a friend. The split box will probably get divvied up with a few bags to friend's who have shared other bounties with me in the past. I also was hesitant but did pick up a box of Michigan blueberries. HUGE blueberries. They were on the tart side last year but these are just wonderful. DH and I were popping them in our mouths as snacks. We had good eating today and will continue throughout the week. I got some bones and I'm going to make a nice beef vegetable soup from the steak bone and some soup bones I got today and make a small pot of chicken soup from the carcass and leftover meat from tonight's chicken dinner. The weather is a bit cool today - even for a July day so that will be quite tasty. Town was ridiculously busy, traffic was horrible. Everyone decided to come in because they could not be outside. I could not get back home fast enough. Ceejay - glad you had a nice conversation with your cousin. Holiday's over - hope you enjoyed it and now back to clean eating ;) Michelle - I am sorry you are struggling with depression. You certainly don't want to risk the diabetes. I will never forget the term you used pre-op - food funerals. I think it's time to have one for sugar. And it's not giving up sugar as much as finding more reasonable substitutes. I do feel for you - I am trying to convince myself that a lot of my aches are probably due to sugar based inflammation. I know what I need to do but it's hard to accept it. Perhaps we can walk that road together. You certainly are becoming the running lady :D I think it's nice that they incorporate fun into the runs - not everyone is a serious marathoner and I think that increases participation. Laura - what kind of portable chairs did you get? I have thought the camp type chairs were uncomfortable too. Sounds like you had a fun weekend - hope you had a good birthday too - I am going to have to mark things on a calendar for next year. Wow - you sure do go through the mulch!!! Score on the good sale! Are you taking a pass on book club over the summer? Annie - sorry you had a crazy busy day. Always pay for a day off, don't you? Your fish looked so very good. Was that supper tonight? Susie - yay for long naps. Yes it sounds as if you are the victim of fluctuating hormones. I hope they can find something to make you comfortable. Hi to Shad, Dee, Terra. I'm kind of tired now. Going to hit the sack I think. But first to feed the cats and one last litter run. Goodnight all. |
Good Morning Ladies of the World....
Let me see, Friday evening my brother of IL (the black sheep) came into town. We all met at Lil Mexico restaurant, quite yummy food, way too many chips and salsa. Saturday morning we all met at Cracker Barrell for breakfast and shopping in the lobby, I always find something in there to buy. lol. Then the girls all went to Edinburgh Outlet mall shopping. <----I hate shopping, however I did find Curtis 3 really nice shirts. The most I paid for one was 12.50. The other two were under 10 bucks. I also got 3 work blouses. Guess it wasn't a total bust. Saturday night we all went to Scotty's Brewhouse for dinner. I had very yummy fish tacos. Curtis had the best tasting tenderloin and loaded waffle fries. Sunday I picked Sissy up, we went to Jared to get her wedding band that had come in. Very pretty band. Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch, onto Kohls and Super Target. I sure did a lot of eating and shopping both of which I need not do. Expensive weekend to say the least. Last night my other brother and SIL came over for dinner. Yes, HAPPY the fresh catch was for dinner. I served rice and greenbeans with it. No dessert as NONE of us needed it. LAURA...what a busy weekend you had and sounds like your BD was great. Good for you. HAPPY...I need to find a farmers market near me as it looks like my garden will be a bust also. Tomato plants are getting too much water and turning yellow with no tomatos on them. CHELLE...maybe you need to have you depression meds changed. I went through about 3 or 4 before I found one that worked the best for me. Cymbalta, it also helps with aches and pains. SHADDIE...lovely pictures, see there is a bright side to working, lovely pictures. CEEG...I had to laugh at watching fireworks out your bathroom window. I think you are confused. You are supposed to go to the bathroom when tornados come. haha SUSIE....I know I don't have enough of the female hormone as I have chin hairs I have to pluck to proove it..lol Hope docs can figure out a good treatment for you. Hello to all you lovely ladies....hugs |
Hi ladies,
So much to get done today....and after work, I'm meeting a friend to go on our weekly walk. Yesterday, my trainer was doing an assessment test on all of us in the group...for example, how many pushups we could do in 1 minute, how many squats, how many rows. I do really well in terms of rows, squats get me a bit out of breath, but I can do them...pushups are my nemesis especially since I have the calcification in my left rotator cuff tendon. She's aware of that and is always willing to show me modifications, which she did yesterday. After that...it was get on the treadmill and run as fast as you can for 15 minutes without any breaks. Normally we run at 80-90% of our max heart rate for 1 or 2 minutes with a 30 second break. When we do those bursts with rest periods, I can run at between 5.8 and 6.0 mph. But since yesterday was 15 minutes sustained...I started off at 5.2 mph for the first 5 minutes...and then gradually increased my speed up to 6.0 mph for the last minute. I was exhausted. My lungs were giving out much faster than my legs...but I really wanted to complete the challenge without stopping. =================== Happy - You're absolutely correct about food funerals. I'm finding that a reasonably good substitute to keep me from stopping for ice cream is to eat a protein bar on the way home from the gym. The ones I get are very low sugar, high protein and taste REALLY good. And after I finish it, I'm too full even for ice cream, and I remind myself that I have yummy sugar free pudding, popsicles and jello at home...and also yummy flavored Greek yogurt, which is what I've had for dinner the past two nights. One thing I want to mention before anyone tries sugar free popsicles. I think these are nasty: http://www.popsicle.com/Images/471/471-107650.png But these no sugar added popsicles by Outshine are SO SO GOOD: http://www.outshinesnacks.com/produc...raspberry.aspx Annie -- I just increased my depression med (Celexa) from 10mg to 20mg. I'd really rather not switch as I've been on it for well over a decade...but maybe it's time. I'll schedule an appointment and talk to my dr. Sounds like you had a great weekend. :D I've got to run...lots to get done and not much time. Much love, |
Morning all. Rainy evening last night and earlier this morning. No watering required! Now it looks sunny, so it’ll be nice to get outside at lunch. :sunny: The temps dropped quite a bit, which doesn’t bother me at all.
Michelle – Hurray to you for any distance you run in these events, and then walking the rest. You’ve come such a long way. I’m not much of a running fan, so I guess anything that makes it fun - be it music, bubbles, colors – is a good thing if it motivates someone. The glow run/walk sounds fun. Good for you with yesterday’s fitness assessment. So will you continue with the group training sessions?? I hope the dosage change helps. Ceejay – So if you’re the only operator on the shift, do you see other people at all, like those from the light office? Nice you “talked” to your cousin. :) Happy – Nice you’re loaded down with all those fruits and veggies! I have yet to get to any farmers markets. There’s one today at Federal Plaza down here – maybe I’ll get over there at lunch. I like soup a lot, doesn’t really matter what time of year it is. The portable chairs are the camp-type ones that store in a bag with a carrying strap. The brand we bought is Kijaro. Bf bought the XXL size because his legs are long and the deeper seat worked better for him. https://kijaro.com/products/chairs/xxl-dual-lock/ Re the mulch – we bought a lot, but we have yet to spread any of it around!! Re book club – I’ve skipped a few of them on purpose, but I don’t think there’s been one since maybe April?? Anyway, I might have mentioned previously that I’m easing myself out of the club because I don’t enjoy them all that much anymore, probably because I just don’t fit in that well with the group. I did, however, decide to host one more club at my house because it’s been such a long time since I did. So it’s on July 17th. Yes, a Friday evening. Dunno how that date came up (though I didn’t say it couldn’t be a Friday), but it’s fine by me. Gives me an excuse to take a half day off work (or maybe a whole day?). So that will sort of be my last hurrah for the book club. Annie – You had a busy, busy weekend! Nice you saw the family. I saw the fresh catch on FB – YUM. I think C needs to construct a fish-cleaning hut out back, LOL. Hellos to the rest of you! -- Nothing going on here, so I’ll just get this posted. Have a great rest of the day! |
Just remembered I have photos of the old and new DR cabinets.
Old: http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/...psjytw8qnb.jpg New: Oops, slightly fuzzy. But I'm sure you get the jist. http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/...psbl00xic4.jpg Holler if it's slowing everything down on the thread and I'll remove them. |
Hi Everyone. I survived Monday at work but it was a long day. Today was better. Both managers were out and I accomplished a lot and left on time.
We have rain again here in Ohio. It is depressing...I want sunshine so it feels like summer. I am out of the habit of exercising and I really need to get back treadmill every night. I am proud of him. Now, I need to get into a routine and start feeling good about myself. Happy: Did you enjoy seeing your friends that you wanted to at the thrift shop? Annie: It sounds like you had a great weekend and spent some $$. I am like you when I am at Cracker Barrel...I always buy something. Should I tell you that there is a Cracker Barrel right beside Kings Island?! lol Michelle: I hope you get the issue with the depression meds worked out. As for the 10 k and the 5 k's. I say a combination of fun ones and then ones where you are concentrating on the mileage and the time you finish in. Laura: It sounds like you had a lot of fun over the weekend at the festivals with the music. My DH and I like to do those festivals and listen to music. The before and after picture of the cabinet is quite a difference. Good job on getting it to the "after". Ceejay: Some week are harder than others to eat well and clean. Just get to it. How are you doing with using the exercise bike? |
Michelle ~ Have you worked out to VB's dvd yet? If so do you like it?
Ceejay52 ~ Yeah I cant wait until Scott buys Jurassic World on Blu-Ray Susie ~ Laura ~ I like my glasses, I just wish my eyes would get adjusted to them already cause I've gotten a headache every day since I started wearing them but the guy at the Walmart Eye glass place said that will happen until my eyes adjust to the new glasses. Happy ~ Hi *Waves Back* Laura ~ Love the picture of the new cabinet, Happy Belated Birthday, I hope you had a wonderful birthday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I got alot done today, I cleaned the bathroom, swept the kitchen floor,Put away my clean clothes and went and got my glasses adjusted because they were a little tight around my ears but now they are better. Tomorrow I have school but I dont have to go until 11 a.m. I'll be there until 4 p.m. and then Thursday I go to school at 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and then my friend and I are going to lunch and then the movies and then Scott and I are going to the movies on Sat. so I have a busy week and weekend but its okay I dont mind being busy. Take Care everyone. |
Good dreary morning here in Indy. Yuk, we had 4.5 inches of rain YESTERDAY. So much flash flooding. Was hard getting home from work, as I despise driving through water on the roads inches deep. Couldn't turn around, two lane road with no where to go. Just go slow and hope for the best. I have been taking a co-worker to and from work the past several days as her car needed a new alternator and her nephew was repairing it for her on his time. All done and she is back to driving, anyway I guess my point is I had extra driving in the nasty rainy, flooded stuff.
C went up north after work last night to visit with his parents, sister, niece and nephews. He spent the night and staying the day to visit. Thankfully I couldn't go. Not that I don't like them, it is just a lot of time to invest when after an hour of being there, there is nothing to talk about and is very boring. Instead I got a lot done at home last night. Two loads of laundry, dishes unloaded and reloaded, one of my flower pits<---due to rain, weeded. Sassy girl and I had a nice evening and she stuck to me like glue. My veggie garden is probably going down the tubes. I have harvested 4 jalepeno peppers so far. Everything else is pretty much too soggy for any growth or produce. My tomato plants have lovely blooms and the leaves at the bottom of the plants are turning yellow and dying. Bummer. TERRA...the glasses being too tight may have caused your headaches also, hope the adjustment took care of the problem. Have fun with you friend and BF. SUSIE....I have actually eaten at that CB before. Yikes more money going out! Hope you get to feeling better about yourself and exercising. Nice when management is out of the office, amazing how much more you can accomplish. LAURA...your new corner cabinet is very pretty. I like it a lot. So very different from the old one. Very nice. CHELLE...10 years is a long time to be on the same anti-depressant med. They can just quit working for you. If the upped doseage does not help, you might want to look into switching it up. Hugs dear sister friend. Hello's all the way around to you fine group of ladies. Hugs! |
Morning everyone,
Quick post for me - I have to wake up and then shower up quick and head off to a meeting where I need to be conscious enough to take minutes :write: Laura - I love the new cabinet. Really pretty. Much more a piece of furniture than the utility cabinet you had before. Just works better for decorative items than cookbooks. Thanks for the info on the camp chairs. Maybe because these are not supposed to sag, they might be more comfortable. :crossed: Annie - sorry your garden is sogging out. I don't know where the farmer's market people are getting such nice produce, no one's garden seems to be doing well this year. DH said yesterday that he heard early in spring they predicted a cooler summer and they were right. I missed that prediction. Today I had to turn the heat on in the house to take the chill out. I know what you mean about C and the relatives. I felt the same way with DH's side of the family. Two of them had limited interests - they only talked about what was going on in town and the people they knew so it was extremely difficult to have a conversation with them - they did not watch tv or read the newspaper to discuss current events. Didn't go to the movies either. I dreaded the time I had to spend there. How is your foot feeling in all this soggy weather? No extra aches? Terra - I think after a day or two you should not be having headaches. I would ask to see someone else at the glasses place to make sure they made them correctly. Susie - sorry to hear you are stuck in that Midwestern rain belt too. :( Michelle - although I don't know enough to comment, I'd say too that after 10 years it might be time to re-evaluate your medication. However, I also understand that it's tough getting things regulated. Worth a discussion with the doctor I suppose. The peaches and blueberries I got the other day are fabulous. I gave each of the volunteers at the shop 2 peaches and they were all thrilled. I was not happy when DH called me in the afternoon. I have a doctor's appointment 1 week prior to surgery for a pre-op. Each time this year that I have made an appointment with my doctor, they have called ahead of time to reschedule it because she will not be in the office. This is the third time this year. No problem they said, they can do it with the nurse assistant. Problem is I can't stand the man - he is cocky and a jerk - and I'm not the only one who feels that way. And the lady - well she didn't know I had shingles when I saw her. I really like my doctor but I guess it's time to consider switching to DH's clinic across the street. Anyway, must run for now. Hello to all the Worldlies. |
Morning all. It’s semi-dreary out there today. Bleh.
Susie – It’s Hump Day, so we’ll be halfway through the workweek soon. :carrot: We’ll get through it. I’ve also haven’t been exercising lately and my body’s telling me I need to get back to it! I'll probably buy a punch card for the group fitness classes today or tomorrow and get back to it. I’ve also got another 30-day fitness challenge I started yesterday – abs & squats. Terra – All the headaches don’t sound good – if they don’t go away now that you had the frame adjusted, you should definitely get back to the optometrist because the lenses might not be right for you. Sounds like you’ll be busy for the rest of the week. Enjoy the lunch/movie with your friend and the movie on Sat. with S. :) I had a nice birthday, thanks. Annie – Wow, that’s a lot of rain. :rain: We had a lot overnight Mon/Tues in our area, but not as much as you. Sorry your veg garden isn’t doing well because of all that rain – what a waste of the effort you put into it. :( It would be nice if this rainy pattern would finally end, and then maybe things could dry out and perhaps you could get a harvest of some sort. :crossed: Happy – That thought crossed my mind too – where are the folks at the farmers markets getting their produce?? Outside the local area? Actually, I recently read an article about an indoor farm located a ways west of Chicago but still close enough to be considered “local” for all the city restaurants that want their foods locally sourced. One big gigantic greenhouse. Glad the peaches and blueberries are to your liking. What’s with the doctor always rescheduling?! That’s ridiculous!! Okay, she’s a good doctor and you like her, but that’s not much help if you never get to see her! Hellos to the rest of you! Hope you’re having a good week. ~~ Nothing much to report. As I commented to Susie, I’m starting an abs & squat challenge. One of those 30-day challenges. I noticed it only has one rest day every 9 days – not gonna like that, but I’ll give it a go. As usual, my right arm & hand was numb when I woke up this morning. But it’s usually fine shortly after I get up. Today it’s still feeling tingly. Another reason to get back to exercise. By exercising I’ll build more muscle and that will increase my circulation and maybe prevent the numbness. So it’s back to the exercise classes for me. Here at work I have a couple old “stress balls” (remember those little Nerf-like balls?). I’ll take mini-breaks and use them to work on strengthening my hand and forearm strength. Movie night was switched to tonight this week. I didn’t bother to vote, but they chose the movie “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”. It’s got a good metascore, but I just don’t feel like seeing something with someone dying. So I’ll skip it. That’s it for me. Have a great day everyone. |
Drowning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, not in rain. In work. Tomorrow I go to Adelaide and there are some things I must finish today. God help anyone who wants to change things after that. It would be okay if they would just stop changing their minds about things that they want. So here it is 6am and I am at work. Time to get on with it. |
I feel your pain, Shad. The design team has changed, re-changed, and keeps changing the design of the new website. I'm hoping that I now have a finalized design. Now I get to implement it.

Hello there everyone.... I'm alive but my life has been upsetting because I was diagnosed w a autoimmune disease a few months back & after trying a few different RX, I haven't improved.
I'm not giving into emotional whining, that's why I never told anyone here or my family, only my Dh knows, until now. I don't want my sons treating or feeling differently about me. 2 years ago this November when I was in the ER & hospitalized w my bleeding ulcer, I was given a blood transfusion & although the blood is supposed to be very safe, the nurse makes you sign a waiver for consent because there is always a risk. I was in my bed dwindling without any strength being told that the ER doctor said I needed the blood. Now I wish I had said No & let God taken control of my survival. I understand that me receiving tainted blood puts me in the very low percent receiving a condition/disease. Please forgive me for this post, I haven't given up Hope that my immune system will become Healthy again, that my medical problems are going to Heal. Some ppl want fame, prestige or wealth, Not me... Ever since I became a gramma, my personal goal is to be at aLL 4 of my grandchildren's High School graduations. This is the only genuine motivation I have to be alive on this earth. I'm sorry I haven't posted the last week, I'm struggling to feel normal like before. I want my life back like it was 6 months ago & also before my blood transfusion happened. I'll b back... Love & hugs to each of u Beautiful, silly, sweet girls. Dee I hope your gardens get better & you're having a fun summer. |
