Good to have you back safe and sound Happy
|
YEAH HAPPY! Glad all went well. Please do share you doctor's visit with us once you get home.
HI SHADDIE! Not much to report since yesterday afternoon. C wanted homemade beanie weinies for dinner. A big YUK in my book. I was so full from lunch it didn't matter to me what I fixed. So BW is what was for his dinner last night. Did a load of towels, flipped and folded, put away. For only being two of us, we certainly go through the towels. Then at the end of the week is a load of Sassy's towels we use in her cage. She must learn to do her own laundry. This month's check up for my brother was not good. His PSA has gone up into numbers not desireable which indicates the cancer is on the move. There is not much else that can be done at this point. Prayers please. He is not in pain yet so that is a good sign. Breakfast is fabulous. FF cottage cheese with a yellow tomato and a green onion cut up with it. Yummy. I can hardly wait to try the corn on the cob from the farmer's market tonight. Going to make fresh greenbeans with potatos and ham in the pressure cooker. Hello to everyone, I will check back later. Hugs |
Morning all. Yesterday was hot, but not quite as humid as the day before. I was out at lunch and kept pretty comfortable if I stayed in the shade. It’s walking a block or two in the sun that got to be hot. Today’s just gorgeous. Wish I were at home.
Happy – Glad to hear you made it through the surgery - I take that to mean no complications cropped up! Anxious to hear more after your patch is off. Terra – Are you going to your cooking class today? What’s on the menu? Annie – I hope the sweet corn is tasty. Today’s one of the days for a downtown farmers market here, so maybe I’ll get over there. I could really have gotten used to not exercising, but my body just didn’t like it. If I could get my exercise done on weeknights, it sure would be nice to not exercise on the weekends. Once I go to a Saturday morning exercise class and then go home and shower, I’m not likely to do any major/dirty chores around the house/yard. Just laundry, dog walk, errands. Someday I’ll get it all balanced out.. Sorry to hear your brother’s PSA wasn’t good. I'll say a prayer. Hi Shad!! Hellos to the rest of you! == Nothing much to report. My hair appointment got cancelled last night and rescheduled for Saturday at noon. I have to make an appointment to see my doctor. A couple months ago I had a bad bruise on the front of my leg right where it meets the ankle, and it was itchy while it was healing. Now there's still a red patch just above that spot, and some other smaller, lighter red patches up my leg along the shin, and even some on the shin of the other leg. It's been a while, and I'm not even sure this was related to the bruise or if it was just a coincidence of one being so close to the other. I also need to discuss my shoulder numbness problem with the doc because the effects now seem to be lingering during the day in the form of tingly-ness in my right hand, a carpal tunnel feeling, and a couple times this past month my hand was blue from what I take to be poor circulation. I sure don't want permanent nerve/circulation issues from sleeping on my side! Bf mentioned he wants tacos for dinner tonight, but I think I’m going to an exercise class. I have to keep to 2 classes per week to finish my punch card by the end of August, and I’d rather do it on weeknights than on Saturday. That’s all folks. |
Hello All! The week has flown by. I have gotten a lot done with my bosses out of the office the past week and a half. Both of them are back tomorrow.
I am working from home today as I had a filling this morning and with the commute, it made more sense to work from home. DH had a 3 month check-up with the surgeon for the fistula. She is very pleased with his weight-loss...he is at 42 lbs gone. She measured his BMI with one of those scales you stand on and it says he has a BMI of 33. She would like it to be 30, so she says 15-20 more pounds. That is just about in line with the cardiologist and taking DH off his blood pressure meds. The surgeon is keeping DH on the suppressive therapy for infection, she is pleased that it is working well for him and that he has done so well with his weight loss. She feels all of this will make the surgery easier. She did talk to us about what to expect with the surgery and healing. She said he will be in the hospital a week! I mean...it seems that no one is in for a week anymore, and then 4 weeks at home. She will see him again the 1st of November and then do the surgery the next week of the next. I got 3 AM workouts in this week. My food has been so-so. I need to start logging it again. Happy: I hope you are doing better and better each day with the vision. I had Lasik about 10 years ago after wearing glasses to see things far away since I was 8 yrs old. It is so great to see without them. I now have to use cheaters for reading and the computer but that is ok with me. I think you will love not having to wear glasses for distance. Anne: It sounds like Cissy's shower went so well and she got a lot of nice things and could replace the "old" things with her new things! I hope the reception venue thing doesn't become a issue. I'm sorry to hear about the report for your brother. Continue to pray.....just because the numbers increasing means one thing, it doesn't have to be that way for him; it could turn around in an instant. We will have faith and hope in the Lord and He will give us peace. Laura: Good for you for getting a new punch card. I think you should try the other instructor for the spin class just to see if it is the class of the instructor. Your story of the "toy" party had me chuckling. I remember the first time I went to one. I have never been "sheltered" girl, but I was like...are you kidding me?!! with some of those more sophisticated toys. I like Annie's advice for when you travel---although I was reading the posts while eating lunch and I just about "spit my teeth out!" :D Michelle--so good to hear you enjoyed your trip. I have heard that Southern CA is a wonderful place to live especially San Diego. They say the weather is perfect. Shad: typing with your toes!!!! you should get some toe rings to make you "fancy". lol I am sorry you have having to work so much. When you said "some day I'll have friends again" I thought, boy I know how that feels...it gets old fast. And it's hard to break the habit of working all the time. But I'm working on breaking it! If I can help it, no more 50-60 hour weeks every week. I am ok with 45 max but not the other unless something big is going on. Hi to Ceejay, Dee and Tara! Back to work for me..lunch time is over. |
It's been a lazy day.
Happy Glad things went well with the surgery. |
Worldlies to Aussieland in August to save Shaddie!

Good Morning All! TGIF fo sho and pay TGIF!
Had my brother over for dinner as my SIL had to work. Nice visit, good food, conversation only for a few minutes on the cancer. Of course I cried, and my brother looked at me and said STOP!...then I laughed. I will come back later for personals if I get a chance. |
Morning all. Happy Friday! ...except for having to pay the property taxes today. Boo on that.
Annie – It’s nice you had a good visit & meal with your brother. I like the new thread title suggestion! Boy did July fly by! Ceejay – Lazy days are often needed to recover from the workweek! Susie – Your dh had a great check-up. Wow, that’s a pretty long time in the hospital, and the recovery time is significant too! I’m sure they try to be conservative on recovery, but I think the less time in the hospital, the better… Good for you with the workouts this week. :) I feel better (mentally) having finally started them again. I’ve always been too chicken to consider Lasik, LOL. But now that it seems like it’s so difficult to get my right contact lens rx right, especially now that my reading vision has started to need help, vision surgery might be something to consider…. Techniques/technology keeps getting better and better. But maybe I’ll just wait until I get cataracts & need surgery, hahaha. Happy – How’s it going with the new lens in your eye?? Did you pop out the lens in your eyeglasses so you can see with two eyes? Hellos to the rest of you. Have a great weekend! -- Nothing much to report. I did a circuit class last night. Saturday’s circuit class will be the last one for 3 weeks at the recplex due to the fitness center’s cleaning and remodeling. But I won’t do a class tomorrow morning. I was able to get a doctor’s appointment at 9:30 am, and then I have my hair appointment at noon. Before all that, I want to get out good and early to do the weeding in that !@#$% garden bed while it's still shady out there. I will google around, but I think I read somewhere that either boiling water or vinegar kills weeds. Whichever it is, maybe I can dump some on one large-ish section of weeds and not bother pulling them by hand. Okay, enough rambling. Time to post. |
Howdy all,
First of all please disregard typos. The good news is that I can see - sort of. They took the bandage off yesterday and I was not impressed. The nurse said you are now done wearing glasses. I didn't think I could see all that well. Then I closed my new eye and holy cow - it's like you smeared Vaseline all over my old eye - things were that blurry. And then when I closed the old eye, yes, I could indeed see better. My first thought after blinking and clearing looking in the mirror across from me was "Boy am I ugly". I had no makeup on, my hair was sort of hodge podge and I was somewhat puffy with bags under my eyes. I look really old. So I am not supposed to wear glasses any more. I can see far in my new eye but it keeps going in between clear and a bit fuzzy as it will as it heals and my brain gets used to it. But I can't see anything at arms length or closer with my new eye. I can't see far obviously with my old eye but I can see near if I put something about a foot from my face. The eyes are trying to work together and I can totally understand why he said I will hate him for the next 2 weeks. This is awkward and unsettling. I got a pair of cheaters yesterday which will help me read but in order to see the computer, I have covered over the lens in my new eye in my old computer glasses and I am typing with one eye. The nurse said not to do this because it will mess me up and she is right. THe cheaters don't help me with the computer. I try to limit the computer to about an hour because after taking my computer glasses off, it takes about 20 minutes for my vision to restabilize. I am not liking not seeing near. The cheaters only help with reading. And my distance vision is not all that clear at times. I was trying to sort through some blueberries and I can't really see them. I had to go by touch to sort the ones that are getting over ripe. And I was frustrated that I bought blueberries from the peach truck and this batch is not worth the money compared to the last box I bought at the beginning of July. If I look at a light at night, I get "star points" - 2 large rays of light emanating from the source. I hope this is not permanent. DH said to be patient as my eye is healing and I am putting 3 drops in my eyes 3 times a day which can also mess with things. This is frustrating but I am holding hope that once he does the other eye, they will be more in concert with each other and work a whole lot better. I am thinking I will still have to wear glasses all the time for mid range although DH said no. Personally, I'd rather have the near vision than the far but I am trying to be patient and see how this goes. I also cannot bend over and you would not believe how many things you do that require bending. I am getting by sitting on a chair and using salad tongs to grab stuff like doing laundry. DH will help out anything I ask but I want and need to do some things for myself. I also have a constant headache from my eyes being so off and trying to work together to see. I just tell myself that by Labor Day everything will be better and stabilized. Sorry I am going to have to skip personals for now. My eyes are getting fuzzy so that means it's time to get off the computer for a bit. Hope you all have a great weekend. Enjoy the weather. |
Hi Happy. Sounds like patience is going to be required until your eye heals, and then for the other one to heal. I can imagine your frustration trying to get anything done! Hang in there kiddo!
|
Another lazy day and I really need to be doing some things around the house.
Tonight is the night of the blue moon and it is beautiful. It's so full and big. Laura Definitely see the doctor. It would freak me out if my hand turned blue. Happy Wait till you have the other eye done. Think you will see a remarkable difference. Annie Glad you spent some time with your brother. I will be glad to have that opportunity when I retire. Hello's to Michelle, Terra, and Susie. |
Hi girls :smug: I have lots to read to catch up with everyone this weekend & do personals. I've been sick most of this week & on the days I felt 50-50 I was busy with my job.
Today we have Dh company summer festival from 9am-6pm held every other year, with free breakfast & lunch with contests, area business reps trying to get the 600 employees $$ giving lots of free stuff, etc. a cash booth that blows for 60 seconds $200 in $5 bills mixed with $5 coupons from businesses that's refilled after counting what each persono catches :dizzy: The most Dh or I ever caught was $85 & a Chi-Chi Mexican $20 food coupon, but it's still fun to do. Because many employees are busy or on vacation about half will be there with their families. This year I'm not competing in any food contests, I've won several times with my desserts & a salsa Verde that I tweaked with fruit & donated those cash prizes to the company families funds that are for employees struggling with unexpected financial problems. I haven't had the energy this week to cook anything extra. I plan to wear 4" wedges with a short sundress, instead of shorts so nobody will ask me to be their partner in any sports competitions. That will be easier than saying I'm dealing with my immune system betraying me & my health symptoms. I told Dh if I get pushed into anything that he will have to do what I choose for him... He already signed me up to be his partner for darts, archery, horseshoes, shoot basketball hoops & the water balloon toss. We'll see how much energy I have, he may have to grab a friend whose partner quit like me. Happy  I am very happy that your eye surgery went well  I want to get eye surgery when we can afford it, we dont have vision insurance, but I don't like putting contact lenses in & out, so I wear glasses, trifocals & the theycost $600 a pair... I've been praying for you daily. I hope you have a blessed recovery :) Love to all, I'll b back Sunday. Have a blessed weekend everyone :cloud9: |
Hello ladies. Hope you're all having a great weekend.
Just finished brushing doggy, and i have a load of laundry in the dryer. After a bit of lounging earlier in the morning, I got out and did 5 more wheelbarrow loads of the sewer line dirt hump. Sigh. It never gets easier. But little by little progress is made. Yesterday I did a wee bit of weeding before my doctor's appointment. I spread out a bag of mulch on the weeded areas and will do that until it's all been weeded. I just hope that it rains a bit so the remainder of the weeding will be easier. The doctor ordered an EMG test to help identify any compressed nerves in my arm resulting from sleeping on the shoulder. I'll wait a bit before scheduling it to see if the tingling feelings ease up. After that i browsed the thrift shop, but only bought a couple books & a nice new hand towel to use for my workouts. After that was a trip to the library for a book and some dvd's. Finally, i met friends for lunch - they were on the vicinity so it was nice. Back home, i took doggy for a walk. The evening was just tv & watching one of the library dvd's - "This is Where I Leave You" with Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, & Jane Fonda. The book club had read the book upon which the movie was based. I liked the movie, though there were a couple things that were different from the book. Well, looks like it clouded up & we'll get some rain. Good Time to get the laundry out of the dryer & fold it. Then i need to do some grocery shopping & walk doggy . The fun never ends, lol. Posting now. Buh bye for now. |
Evening all,
Short post - sorry. Back in Auckland after a lovely weekend in Brisbane with friends and family. I also went to my doctor who tells me that I am in 'rude health' :yikes: went out to breakfast with the family that were in town on Sunday and met the 'grandfur baby' of whom I will try to find some photos shortly. As a watchdog, he will lick you to death. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pshxoyfi5l.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...pskmlnqk4s.jpg |
Need to start a new thread. We need our HAPPY and SHAD. I have no clue how to do it.
What a lovely day yesterday. Spent it with Sis, Chris and kiddos including Ains, also C. Chris parents are out of town, so we all went over to their house, haha, had a nice steak cook out and swam in their pool all day. They have salt water in their pool rather than the chlorine type pool. Kind of different, reminded me of the beach, yep, the water tasted salty. I ran into a great deal on steaks, 5 very nice size NY strip steaks for 19 bucks. Had baked potatos, cauliflower, mac n cheese for the kids and made a vanilla pudding bunt cakes with cut up fresh strawberries on top. So much fun, nice to enjoy the family and we all laughed and laughed. Needless to day we didn't get anything done around the house and my kitchen floor is about to walk away if I don't get it mopped soon. Yeee. WOW SHADDIE...you son is very handsome and your fur baby is so adorable. What is fur baby's name? I love how his ears are swung over to one side, must of taken pointers from Miss Sass! LAURA...Moving dirt is really great exercise, doesn't your body hurt after? DEE...sorry you were feeling badly last week. Hopefully this week will be better. Had to laugh at you 4" wedges and sundress to keep you from competing. What a great idea that was. Yeah on winning 85 bucks that sounds like fun. HAPPY...hope you are adusting to your new eye. Time heals all wounds sister. Hugs. Hello to all, make it a great Monday! Hugs |
