Worldly Chicks - MAYbe we'll be good and MAYbe we won't
Happy May Day Ladies -
Annie's Awesome Wedding is over as is her equally awesome honeymoon. Time to once again usher in a new month. Ours is starting out a bit bleak - 4 to 8 inches of snow predicted tonight from another wonderful Great Plains storm. Even harder to take as it was 70 degrees for the last 4 days. Will it ever end? My garden is itching to be planted! Let me go finish the set up and transition of threads. Transition over from April: Michelle's heading west - doing well, a day and a half's drive from her new / old home. Mel's helping out Jen and taking a few day's break. Annie's got a possible broken toe :( Ceejay's working hard under the watchful eye of the man and dodging the test sirens. Shad's back home for a bit donating generously to the medical and dental community. Laura is waiting for today's weigh in to get done with so she can get some brekkie in her. We seem to have lost a few chicks along the way :( There we go. Ready to pick up again. |
Good travels Michelle - your timing was perfect to avoid that storm and you seem to be doing well. Will be home before you know it. Just don't buy juice at Starbucks. Apparently a customer noticed a woman replacing juice bottles in the cold case with those in her own bag. The customer reported the woman to the employees, the woman noticed and fled but one employee got her license plate number. Turns out the juice was tainted with rubbing alcohol. Geez people - that's NOT how you make screwdriver's (an alcoholic drink). They were able to nab the woman through the license plate and have her under questioning. Crazy world out there.
Mel - I am sorry about Jen. I can sympathise that it must be very very hard coming to grips with her future. It's good that you are there for her to help her through the hurdles. And you know I'm sure when to hug and cry and when to tell her you just have to accept things and go forward. to both of you. And oh man, not another round of paper work :rollpin: Annie - how's the toe today? I agree they might splint the toe - don't want to tape the big toe to the next -then it turns and you have a bunion  You scared the bejeezus out of me mowing the lawn in bare feet :yikes: How is Dad doing? God bless us putting up with stubborn parents - good thing we love them so much ;) Laura - thanks for the movie review. It's so nice to have someone who has seen things on a regular basis. I hope your weigh in goes well today. Do you know you can knock off up to a half pound on the scale if you take a deep breath when you stand on the scale? Just a trick in case you needed a bit of breakfast before weigh in  You are doing great! Do you find that counting calories is easier than points? Ceejay - how's the flooding situation down by you? How's May looking already by you Shad? Is autumn sneaking it's way over to you? I hope I didn't forget anything. We had 4 glorious days of 70 degree weather the last few days. Enjoyed the fresh air. Believe it or not we STILL have snow here. Even after that and the natural dryness of the air up here. Several of the lakes are still frozen. But now we are facing yet ANOTHER winter storm  4 to 8 inches of heavy, wet stuff headed our way tonight. Oh bah, bah, bah. Michelle's timing was excellent as it's in the mountains right now and she got out ahead of it. Went and got my hair cut and colored yesterday. I got there on time and the stylist was still working on a client so I sat and started thumbing through hair books. A short cut caught my eye and I couldn't get past it. I have basically had the same mid length bob for ages - always settle into the same hair cut. Since ATV season is starting and I generally wear a hat to keep hair from blowing in my face (a pet peeve), it was either grow the hair to wear a pony tail or cut it shorter. I have a square face shape, wear glasses and generally hate short hair on me. I told the stylish let's try short even tho every fiber in me said NO NO NO NO NO. I take my glasses off when they are fixing my hair so it's always a big surprise to me until the reveal when I put them back on again. Actually it came out kind of cute. It's different and the short layers indeed give me a bit more volume. I haven't had my hair this short since 1969 when I went from hair halfway down my back to the "new" Vidal Sassoon short pixie cut (which I totally hated) Anyway summer is coming, hair will grow out faster. I went to the grocery store yesterday - halleluiah - stocked up on fresh goodness. I did gain back 5 pounds from when I was working but a lot of that had to do with not going to the store regularly and eating less fresh stuff. DH and I are back to walking (when it's not snowing out  ) and I am going back to dieting again. Got to get the weight off as well as working on the cholesterol. I have to go to Walmart today to get some paper goods and better get out there before the rains that are preceeding the snow hit. Have a good one chicks. Happy May - here's to a good month for all  |
Well, that just started my day off well. I was halfway through a post when the computer shut down to install new updates. Love it NOT.
Happy thanks for setting up the new thread, I had meant to do it yesterday afternoon but got sidetracked with gardening and helping a friend out with her cv and dealing with a stack of recruiters who have worked out that I am no longer at NTG and wish me to make money for them in some other far flung part of the world. I don't have a problem with that except that I am not ready to go back to work yet. Mel - sorry to hear that Jen is now having problems with the paperwork that is designed to deter even the most stubborn of people. Lucky she has the original Welsh dragon to back her. Laura - hope the weigh in goes okay, you seem to be doing very well with it. Perhaps that is what I need - more discipline. Ceejay - so the bosses son is coming to mow your lawns now??? Hope that works out for you. As for that neighbour, who does she think she is and where does she get off with begging for food and rides. Michelle - sounds like you are doing okay with the long drive. Hope you are avoiding all the rotten weather over there. Annie - ouch on the toe. Hope that gets better soon. Between you and me, we must be the klutz' of the month. Miss Sunday has just decided that the doorman (me) should let her in again. I remarked that she has dirty feet and got a really dirty look for my troubles. She then went off down to the bedroom in a huff and went out the OPEN door down there. Now she is sitting in a weed patch waiting for the sun to get there so she can sun bathe and sleep in the hedge. Today I have to go back to the Accountant since I signed and sent back the wrong batch of paperwork. Now excuse me but if you put stickers on a batch of paperwork saying sign here - don't you think I might think that this is the paperwork to be sent back. Anyway it is partly my fault for not reading the whole lot thoroughly. So I will take the correct stuff up there today and get it off my plate for once and for all. So saying that I better try to get into my day. Lots to do and see. |
Shad
I'm going to see how this works out. I'm sure his dad/my boss will be there with him. He's only 12. I don't really have a problem with the neighbor getting some one to mow the lawn, but they never, ever weed eat. The weed's around the door and else where is knee high. I'll probably burst her bubble again but I didn't promise her it to be a full time job for this summer. I'd like to do it but the weather isn't cooperating with me. Happy No flooding yet. Last week end the river was full again and flowing rapidly. It wouldn't take much for the water to get out of the banks. And thanks for setting up the new thread. Ughh more snow. Think I'd be moving back down south. Am I missing updates from Michelle!!!!! Mel Don't blame you for taking a rest. Poor Jen in having to go through this hassle too. Laura I don't like when the bosses are here either. But sometimes they have to be. My friend/boss and I had our backs to the door discussing some issues on the monthly report. I turned around to check on the filters and low and behold there was another boss just quietly standing there. I honestly jumped and put my hand over my mouth to keep from screaming. Nothing new to report. |
Ceejay - I think most of us are getting our Michelle updates from her FB page - she's not posting here.
The snow is falling. Started when I was in Walmart and it hasn't slowed down. I think we're going to get a dumping. Well Ceejay - although I'm not wild about the snow in May, there's not enough of it to make me run down south and deal with the horrid allergies and hot summer heat. I'm just itching for nice weather to get here already, if it never got above 72 I'd be ok with that. |
Michelle has made Los Altos California where her step mum lives. She asked me to let you all know.

Good Morning Girls....
My bro and I spent all day yesterday at the hospital with dad. Thank God the prayers have worked and the steroids also. His pain completely subsided Tuesday evening. He is now going to the bathroom with a walker and assistance. He finally started eating last night. One of his nurses is like a sargeant in the army. She flat out told him Tuesday nite that if he didn't start doing things for himself he would never go home but straight into a nursing home. That finally triggered his stubborn arse into moving. I am telling you it got so bad he was just p*ssing himself in the hospital bed. Once he gets released from the hospital he will go to rehab and stay until he is mobile enough to do things. Yikes, what a mess. Anyway all looks a bit brighter today. CHELLE...great job on the haul across the U.S. See you are much stronger than you really know. Just have to put your mind to it. SHADDIE...Guess it is my week to wear the klutz crown. I say we throw it away from this point forward. I certainly hope the accountant does not charge you more for their errors. It was probably the dingy blond admin that stuck the stickies in the wrong place. lol HAPPY...the toe is much better, now my knee is a different story. It hurts but not unbareable. Looks like from the weather map you may be getting slammed with snow. Hope we get to summer at some point. LAURA....how did the WI go? or did I miss that? CEEG...happy work day! I really need to get some work done today...blah. Have a great day all! |
MELLIE...how could I forget my poopy sister....hope things are brighter in your world and Jen gets her paperwork straightened out. Hugs.
|
Well it's Thursday morning and it's mighty bright here. Probably from the FOOT OF SNOW we got overnight. And it's still snowing. We lost one tree in the front yard - split right in half. I can't see enough to tell if it's a double trunk or 1 tree split in the middle which means we'll lose it all. I hope not - it's a beautiful huge pine tree :( It's a heavy, wet snow too so the trees are really bent down heavy. DH got up earlier and the power was flickering - geez I hope it does not go out :crossed: that would be disastrous for us. We are just underneath a cloud band that is very slow moving and is fed with moisture from the south so that's why we got so much. We were supposed to head up to Duluth today, thank goodness DH rescheduled his doctor's appointment. It's supposed to rain tomorrow night and get back to the 70's by Monday so this won't last long. I just fear for the trees the next 2 days. I'm sure this is confusing Mr. Bear (whom we have not seen yet thank goodness).
Ah well it's a good day to stay inside and do housework and cooking. Glad to hear that Michelle made it safe and sound, thanks for the update Shad. The hardest part is over, now time to get settled in. Hope it is everything she was hoping it can be. Annie - that's awful about Dad - you just made me feel better because I thought my Mom was stubborn but your Dad blew her away  Thank God for the nurse who has probably seen this before and knew exactly what to say to get him motivated. Sorry to hear the knee is still bothering you. Be careful with that - so easy to re-injure it. Mel - hope the day dawned brighter for you and Jen. Good luck with the paperwork. Be strong for both of you  Looks like everyone is heads down working hard this morning. I think I'm going to go have some breakfast just to get something in my tummy. And I need to eat those fresh berries I bought that never seem to last very long. Later chicks. |
Morning all.
Mel - Trader Joe's Day! :carrot: Annie - I'm glad your dad is on the mend! I hope your knee comes along soon too - you have a garden to get in!! It might not be a bad thing if you have a rainy weekend coming up so you won't be out trying to bend and kneel getting the garden started. That's what we're going to have. Bleh. Shad - Ugh, the paperwork. I'm probably going to be dealing with that in the near future if I get my act together. LOL, doorman to Sunday may be a full-time job. Too bad it won't pay the bills. Ceejay - I sit in a cubicle and the way it's set up, I always have someone coming up behind me when I'm immersed in my work, scaring the bejeesus out of me. I wish I could change my workspace to avoid that, but I have a fancy adjustable keyboard tray that would have to be reinstalled, and that requires a work order, etc. PITA. Happy - Ugh, more snow for you - quite a bit. :( Makes me less irritated that I wore ear warmers and gloves during my commute this morning. Actually, I might wear the ear warmers all the time while cycling - I love that it cuts off the wind noise in my ears!!! :D I might have to rig an unobtrusive non-fleece version - dark brown to match my hair or flesh colored to match my skin, teehee - and wear them year-round. But I'm sure that wouldn't work with my helmet (which I use when I go on "real" bike rides) - the ear warmers I have go around the back of my head. Maybe I'll do a test tonight. Okay, enought brainstorming during your personals... So, are you still liking your short haircut??? I think we need to see a photo...right everyone??? :D Michelle - Congrats on the successful completion of your trip!!! :woohoo: === My weigh-in yesterday went fine. My previous two weigh-ins for the contest showed that the contest scale was a pound less than my home scale, and I was also sure I'd lost weight and hadn't gained over the past month, so I was confident I wouldn't have to ante up $10 for the prize kitty (the gain penalty). :goodscale: The top 8 losers for the month of April were awarded a ticket to a Cubs game tomorrow. I did make it into that group (whoo!) but the weather's going to be crummy - chilly and rainy - tomorrow, so I'm currently trying to give away my ticket. I didn't win or place for the overall contest, but that's okay with me. I really didn't want any attention focused on me. However, the $$ would have been nice - 1, 2, & 3 won $1,050, $210, and $140 respectively. Nice!!! In the end, I lost 14 pounds since Feb 1st according to the contest scale, so that's a nice result. :) We heard that next year there might be a challenge of IT vs. Finance. Should be interesting. Last night I went with bf when he bought his new cell phone. He bought the new Samsung Galaxy 4something latest greatest. He actually sold his iPhone for the same amount that it cost him to buy the new phone! He will be selling my iPhone and I'll also get the Samsung, but I'll wait a few days and see if he hits any snags in the transition. So far all seems to be good - his contacts came over no problem, etc. We'll see how the Android side of the world operates. Okay, back to the grind. Everyone have a great day! |
Good morning ladies -
I'm here in Sunny Northern CA. it's going to be 90 today. I'm taking my friend Anne (the woman who made the trip to CA with me and Santa) to see the redwoods and then to the beach. It was a long drive, and stressful going through the mountains...and there were so many mountains!!! But it's all worth it, just to be here. My friend Anne heads back to WI tomorrow morning. I'm unloading the truck into a storage space on Saturday. and I start my new job on Monday! :woohoo: I might not get a chance to check in for personals until tomorrow. Happy, I'm so sorry you got MORE SNOW! UGH! :faint: Much love and many hugs to all, |
Way to go CHELLE....YOU ROCKED that truck all the way to CA!....so proud of you.
LAURA...congrats on the WL....somehow when money is involved we seem to pay more attention. I love the Cubbies but wouldn't want to sit in crappy weather to watch it either. HAPPY...wet snow is good for building snowmen and snow forts. You and DH should go out and play...lol Be sure to spray your plastic container that you make the snow blocks for the fort with Pam, they slide out much easier. Send me a pix of your new do! Well gotta get back at it, have 200 packets to put together for Monday mornings enrollment meeting. So far I have only printed the material. bleh |
Morning all,
Today I get to climb a ladder and clean off the top of the kitchen cupboards. I fail to see how they can get as dirty, dusty, greasy and grubby as they do. After that, it will be time to shift a few of the contents of those cupboards around. Sort out what should go out and what should stay. Then there is the laundry and sweeping the driveway and cleaning out the fridge. That should take care of a couple of hours. Then I'd better do some shopping and take a wander around the garden and sort out some things there. I'm knocking off at 2pm regardless. I will need some downtime. Michelle - good to hear that you are home safe and sound. That was quite a journey. How many people did you hack off over the mountain passes by driving slowly? Enjoy the trees. I'm hoping to see the sequoias when I get over next year. I'd like to go to Yosemite or Yellowstone as well. Annie - sometimes folks have to be provoked into doing things for their own good. My mother was as bad. Stubborn old lady. Put her in a home for her own safety and she escaped several times. Said she wanted to go home. Where's home???? She didn't know but she wanted to go there. Anyway, I am glad that Dad has decided to behave and bless the Sergeant Major Nurse. Throw away the klutz crown if you wish, but I reckon that thing is like a boomerang and keeps coming back to chop us off at the knees again. Mel - must be off dealing with things for Jen. Happy - more freaking snow??? You are on your own there girl. I'm complaining of the cold at 22C - around 70F. Think we skipped Autumn and went to winter. What am I saying - only two seasons here - Hot and wet and humid, Warm days, cool nights and no humidity. Laura - always the paperwork. Jobs not finished until that is done. Had a chat with the accountant yesterday when I went in. There isn't too many ways to avoid tax these days but if I only work part time, I might not have to worry too much. Well hallelujah. Now to find a part time project. New phone to get hacked off with? I am going to have to get one as well. This one has nearly done its dash and is beginning to show it's age. I'd be interested to see how yours goes. One thing that really annoys me is that they make every model with a different plug in for the battery replenishment. I have a phone charger for every suitcase I own and when I change, I will have to throw all those out too. Bah humbug Nice going with the weigh ins and the weight loss. Rocking it. Ceejay - hope the grass mowing and weed whacking works out for you. About time there was someone reliable to do all those things. Lets hope the rivers don't rise too much. Miss puss has given up expecting more food and gone outside. She is sitting in the sun on the garden patch of weeds I haven't got to yet. No doubt she will spread the seeds across the yard. Goodonya cat. Later when she is warm enough she will go into the hedge and settle down for a long winters nap - until something living wanders past that she can reach out and scratch or snatch So with that, I am off to make a start on todays list of things to do. Its only a page full in a small notebook. I should be able to get through that - right? |
Some one rang the door bell this morning at 9.30 but I was asleep and didn't get up to go to see who it was. Maybe one day the girls down the street will get the message, don't ask me.
Woke up with a bad headache. I slept for a bit this afternoon but it's still with me. Finally broke down and took something for it. Went to pay the rent and then out to the river. It's so peaceful out there for some reason. There was a tug boat that looked like was hauling chat/gravel. There was a lot of drift wood out in the water. Kind of amazing to see some floating up the river then turning around and going back down. I'm guessing they got caught in the eddy. -------- Michelle You made it to California. I'm proud of any one that can maneuver those mountains. Let me know if you meet my nephew. He's really a neat guy. Annie It's good to hear that your dad is making improvement. Laura Congrats on the weight loss. Happy Maybe next week you can enjoy some warmer weather. It's gotten hot here at 82 degree's, but the humidity levels are low so that makes a difference. Today we have a light rain. |
Good Morning Girls....
Went to visit with dad after work yesterday, he started talking about the nurse who gave him a sponge bath and washed everything, even his winky dink, I said whoa dad, enough I do not want to hear about that. It kind of grossed me out. lol. My brother was just whooping and laughing at me. BLEH to say the least. He goes to rehab soon, it is a much nicer one than my momma was in, which is where she should of been in the first place but because my dad was such an *ss, he put her where he wanted her instead of where she should of been. oh well that is in the past. SHADDIE....sounds like you have a plan to work that yard/garden. I cannot even find the time or dry weather to get mine done/in. Rain today through Sunday. I am sick of rain, HAPPY is sick of snow, and LAURA is just plain tired of it too. Yes, why is it the top of the fridge and cabinets get so dang dirty? Yeah as long as it is flip flop season the klutz crown will be around for me. I am forever getting them stuck under things that in turn sends me flying to the ground. I know quit wearing them, can't do it. Closest I can get to barefooted without being barefooted. CEEG....Who in there right mind knocks or calls someone unplanned before 10 am anyway. People are just so rude and self-centered. Sorry to hear about your headache. Maybe if you take something when it first comes about it would get as bad. Head it off at the pass so to speak. Better living through chemicals sister. Hugs. Hello to all you lovely ladies, make it a great day/night/time!!! |
http://img10.glitterfy.com/graphics/...day_tulips.gif

SHAD...MISS PUSS IS HAVING TO GET USED TO A ROUTINE WITH YOU?? I WONDER SOMETIMES WHAT CATS THINK WHEN THEY COME & GO FROM THE HOUSE. WHAT GOES ON INSIDE THOSE FUZZY HEADS OF THEIRS. YOU'RE GOING TO NEED A VACATION WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH ALL THIS WORK. IT CERTAINLY IS FILLING UP YOUR DAYS HOME. CEEJAY.....HOPE YOUR HEADACHE IS GONE. WATCHING WATER AND BOATS IS GOOD FOR EVERYONE. WATER HAS A VERY CALMING INFLUENCE ON OUR MINDS & BODIES. YOU CAN HAVE A "VACATION SPACE" TO GO TO JUST TO SIT AND NOT THINK! :yoga: LAURA....THAT WAS GREAT WEIGH-IN!! VERY NICE!! 14LBS IS NOTHING TO SNEEZE AT. CONGRATULATIONS!!!:encore: THE BF DID A GREAT JOB ON THE OPHOMES TOO!! YOU GUYS ARE ON A ROLL. HOPE YOU GET A GOOD BUY TOO. WE NEED HIS NEGOTIATING SKILLS HERE!!! DOES HE HIRE OUT!! ROFLMAO ANNIE....HOW GOES THE PACKAGING??? HOPE THE ENROLLMENT THINGY GOES WELL. ONE OF YOUR MANY HATS. SO HOW ARE THE HOGGENDOBBERS DOING??? I KNEW YOU WOULD NEVER FORGET YOUR POOPY SISTER!! "THINGS" HERE ARE JUST...MOVING ALONG I GUESS. SOMETIMES I AM AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. MICHELLE....GLAD TO HEAR YOU MADE IT TO YOUR DESTINATION!! THANK GOD YOU AND YOUR FRIEND ARE SAFE AND SOUND. THAT WAS WONDERFUL OF HER TO GO WITH YOU. GOOD LUCK UNLOADING AND AGAIN ON MONDAY WITH THE NEW JOB. SAFE TRAVELS TO THE FRIEND BACK TO WI TOO:hug: l:cofdate: LIFE SEEMS TO BE DEALING ME TOO MANY LEMONS. I FEEL LIKE I AM SURROUNDED BY NAYSAYERRS & BAD LUCK. I KNOW THIS TOO SHALL PASS BUT WHAT A MESS TO WAKE UP TO. I THINK OUR FAIRY GODMOTHER GOT LOST OR HER WAND IS BROKEN. JEN & I WERE LAUGHING ABOUT THAT LAST NIGHT. I AM TAKING TODAY OFF AND MAKING A 3 DAY WEEKEND. WE BOUGHT EVERYTHING WE NEED AT TJ'S YESTERDAY. THE DAY ENDED WITH JEN GOING TO THE ER.TO GET PAIN PILLS. THE DR SAID A FEW DAYS ON MEDS SHOULD GET HER GOING AGAIN. THE BUS STOPPED VERY SHORT ON THE WAY HOME FROM TJ'S. 3 OF US GOT WHIPLASH TYPE BODY PAINS. JEN'S WERE THE WORST. A MAN & I HAVE MILD PAIN. I THINK I JUST TOLD THE STORY BACKWARDS....SORRY   ANYWAY....WE ARE RESTING & MAYBE GET SOME SUNSHINE THIS WEEKEND. WORK ON OUR TANS!!:beach: |
MELLIE...if you and the man are having pain, try a different position. lol
|
Morning all. TGIF!!
Mel - Sorry you and Jen are in pain from the bus ride - glad you're taking a 3-day weekend, sounds like you need the downtime. I hope you get the sunshine out your way and it helps brighten your mood. :sunny:  Annie - LOL re Mel & the man's position, heehee. And you're right, TMI re your dad's spongebath!!! Ceejay - Hope you woke up with no headache today and no doorbells or phones ringing with neighbors asking favors of you. A trip to the river just to sit and enjoy, reflect, whatever, sounds nice. Shad - Hearing about you cleaning the tops of the cupboards makes me appreciate that ours go up to the ceiling, no tops to clean. :D But it also reminds me I have the insides to clean out - the ones with the drawers inside really collect dirt, dust and dog hair!! And Annie mentioned the top of the fridge... I'll let you know how the phone works out, I'll probably be getting it within the next week. I do agree that it really is a racket that when you get a new gadget it takes a different charger. So when we sell my iPhone we'll sell it with the charger and the car charger, just hate to find that stuff hanging around the house when you've gotten rid of the gadget years ago...and while I'm at it, I now understand that I can't get the close captioning on the MOTG dvd to work because our hookup uses an HDMI cable and not an analog one, so the CC cannot be decoded or displayed. Bleh. BF will add an analog connection and then it will be possible. Of course the picture quality will suffer, but in this case I'll accept that so I can have the CC and make out the dialog I always miss when I watch that show. End of Laura's technology whining. Happy - I hope you haven't lost the tree to the ice weighing it down. :( Michelle - Hope you and your friend enjoyed the redwoods and the beach. I just loved visiting Muir Woods, seeing those huge trees was something else. :) == Nothing much to report. Wore my winter jacket today and gloves and ear warmers. Bleh. Thoroughly sick of this chilly weather that keeps coming back to depress us. Definitely glad to not be going to the ballgame today. Our spa day/night was cancelled for tomorrow because my friend D's aunt is in serious medical condition and D and her sis are the only family she has to be there for her. I'm disappointed, but she needs to be there, and it turns out this weather is not the best for what I hoped was to be spent partially outdoors. And I won't be getting my massage. Heck, maybe I should schedule one somewhere local...On the bright side, I won't have to miss my kettlebell class. Sunday is Cinco de Mayo, so I plan to celebrate with some sort of Mexican food. Yum. Anyone else gonna celebrate? Oh, and isn't the Kentucky Derby this weekend? I'll see if I can spare two minutes to watch the race, LOL. |
LAURA...yes Kentucky derby this weekend. All of our Louisville associates are not in the office today. Just says "private appointment" on their calendars. Right, if we did that we would get fired. bleh. Funny you would choose kettleball over a massage, girl there is something wrong with you. I don't know that I will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo, but will certainly be having mexican food.
Just got a call from my brother. My dad is being moved to the rehab this afternoon at 2pm. YEAH!!! Later chickies. |
Hi Guys,
On top of all this snow it appears that some freezing rain is on it's way. This is NOT good for the poor trees that are already bent down and stressed out. In addition to the one tree that went down, we have several really large branches down, some of which might be big enough to stress/damage the health of the tree itself. Adding ice on top of it will not help in the least bit. Then there is the matter of the library. A month ago I returned a bag of about 10 items - cds for me and 4 books that DH selected to read. Seems that everything was checked back in save for 1 book. I went back and looked on the shelf - saw 3 of the books all together (all the same author he was reading) but not the missing book. DH talked to the librarian who said they would look for the book. Came back a week later - no book. This time I talked to the librarian who said no one had looked for the book - their routine is to have 3 separate people look for a book when one goes missing just to be thorough. She assured me that this time they would indeed look for the book. The next day she called, said they looked, the book did not turn up. We were pretty sure we returned the book but could not say for sure if we did or not since I had simply picked up all the books from the kitchen table and bagged them and did not remember this book apart from the others I returned. The fact that 3 books were altogether on the shelf gave credence to the fact that maybe we did leave one of the books at the hospital / hotel although DH swears not. I asked if I had to replace the missing book - the librarian said that is the policy. So I ordered a new book from half dot com - my go to place for older, inexpensive purchases of books and cds and such. The new book was cheap and with shipping it was under 5 dollars. I ordered it and it's on it's way. In the interim I renewed the missing book so that it would not slip into the overdue category - fines are expensive and add up quickly. All the while the missing book was showing checked out to me. Yesterday I was making a note of a book I recently read and went to my library record to get the exact title. I see that the missing book is no longer on my checked out list. I did a look up and it appears to be sitting on a shelf available for check out. Which appears that they found the missing book. Now I saw this after midnight so I am just speculating on what I see. It's too crappy today to venture out, but I have to return a book tomorrow. If indeed I see that book, I am going to be really upset. And I feel I am justified in this as 1) they didn't check in the book like they were supposed to, 2) they didn't look for the book the first time like they said they would, 3) they told me they looked and said they could not find the book, 4) apparently they did find it and no one bothered to tell me and 5) now I am out the money for a replacement book I did not have to replace. I could perhaps return the book but I would still be out of pocket for the $8 shipping costs each way so not worth it to get a refund. I will say that going forward I will make sure that when I return books, I will insist they check them back in as I am standing there. DH said next time just don't replace the book if they do it again.  We looked out the window this morning and saw a robin huddling down in a sort of snow cave by the side of the garage. Poor thing was probably wondering "I came north for THIS???" By the looks of the critters out there - birds, deer, turkeys - they are all hankering for spring to show up so they can go back to eating bugs and grass. They look like me stalking the floor waiting for some good pizza to get finished baking  Weather should start to turn back tomorrow - I hope so. DH picked up my birthday present - a cool lounger swing type of thing. I have been wanting a hammock for years and years and admittedly they take up a lot of space. We saw this swing at the home improvement store and it met DH's seal of approval so I said it would be a good compromise. Hopefully by next week it will be warm enough to try it out on the deck ;) Laura - you changed your avatar. You need a picture of Coal :D I hear you about having trouble hearing some of the DVDs - particularly if the characters have accents. I had a tough time on Downton Abbey with the Irish maid. My solution was to watch them on my laptop and use my good headphones. Low tech solution! Sorry your spa day got cancelled - there are plenty of places around I imagine. Perhaps you can still book a massage on your own. I know, more fun with friends and drinks, right? Not planning on anything specific for Cinco De Mayo but I have had a taste for Mexican food. The bars here do Mexican night but it's about the same as cooking up a package of frozen food. There is a really good Mexican restaurant in the next town but it's an hour's drive each way. We usually stop there if we have another reason to go there like visiting Kohls or Menards. We had chicken fajitas last night. I also made a pineapple/mango/black bean salsa that I like. Lo cal, nutritious and refreshing. What I wouldn't give for a Tom-Tom tamale ;) Congratulations on the 14 pounds off - great job!!!! Since I'm on food - I also made some snow ice cream yesterday. That was interesting. More like ice milk than ice cream. ( I guess I should go eat some breakfast/brunch - you think???) Mel - one thing I will say about the shorter hair, it is less stressful and I'm not pulling as many hairs out of my brush as I was before. If you've had long hair always, short would be a culture shock - but it would be easier to handle. Do you let your hair air dry now? Sorry you guys got whiplash - perhaps the drivers need to be educated that there are special considerations with the passengers. I mean it is NY but unless you are slamming to avoid an accident, be careful with the precious cargo buddy ;) Reading your post today I can't help but think that perhaps you are not being dealt lemons, perhaps the universe is throwing lemons at you in an effort to get you to back off from the lemonheads in your building who stress you out. You are a naturally helpful person and sometimes (well oftentimes actually) I think these people substitute you so that the people who should be caring can slack off. (Lazy buggers :rollpin: ) and the lemons tossed your way is just a means of getting you to shrug and say, Hey I gotta worry about Mel. And Jen. Sorry guys. Leave them the lemons and go have yourself a frap in the comfort of your home. Remember guys - YOU MADE ME BE THIS WAY. I know you don't want to abandon people but geez, sometimes those seniors forget to be grateful for your help too. ;) Annie - funny story about Dad's winkie. When DH was in the hospital the nurses always gave him the washcloth and told him to "finish the job" - it was up to him if the winkie got clean or stayed funky  This nurse must have been extra helpful or Dad has a good pity look :o Anyway, you made me smile today. OMG - you're a flip flopper. :yikes: Ok, yes you know those are horrid for your feet - I know 2 people who had to have extensive surgery because they tripped in them. I will just say that there is no support at all which over time, will make your feet all turny and gnarly looking - toes turned and joints popping up. Ewwwwww. There has to be some way of capturing the bare feeling with just a tad more support in the sandal. Please look into this or I will start eating vanilla ice cream again  Michelle - hope you are settled in and had a good tour with your friend. 90 degrees is whew - too HOT. But I wouldn't mind seeing the ocean again. Have fun and be careful unpacking. Ceejay - what a pretty picture you paint with words about the boat on the river. That's what's nice about getting up in the early morning - that special peacefulness that is so enjoyable. Hope your headache went away. Shad - I don't know why the cabinets get so dirty either - not like we fry up everything like we used to. So Miss Sunday is a walking seed spreader  at least she will keep the birds from gobbling them up. Hope you had a productive day yesterday. Did you take that downtime time out and what did you do? Well I think I'll go finish the berries before they go bad. Not sure if I'd do hot oatmeal or cold yogurt. I'm leaning towards hot at the moment. Have a good day ladies, the weekend is almost upon us... |
Laura
I'd forgotten about the Kentucky Derby. Yes, it's usually the first Saturday in May. It's cold down here too. My hand still have not thawed. There is even some snow in the North West part of Arkansas. Annie I laughed out loud when I read you message to Mel. ------ Called my insurance company to find out whether or not I can still use my doctor in Jonesboro with out being charged for an urgent care visit. His office is in an Urgent Care building. My doctor here had to go back to Taiwan to bury his dad. Woke up with out the headache this morning. Yeah. I took two Bayer Migraine tablets. Should have taken the prescription. |
Evening all,
Shu wee -as Annie would say. I think I will go get another job. This spring cleaning lark is tough stuff. I've done about half the kitchen cupboards. Thrown out a raft of stuff, put other stuff in a box, and packed up everything of the DS2's stuff. I will cart some of it round to his place tomorrow and the rest when he is not looking. I now have some empty kitchen cupboards and clean glassware. I also have two big bowls full of tomatoes to deal with and more ripening by the day. So will have to do something with those shortly. Annie - got a giggle out of Dad telling you about his bed bath. Hope it wasn't the Sergeant Major Nurse. She would have had the family jewels mounted and shined. My only complaint about the weather is that it is cool in the morning. Laura - My cupboards go to the ceiling as well or nearly and then there is a filler and the moulding. However the cupboard doors stand out from the cabinet carcass and therefore collect dust and grease and steam. Not as bad as the old kitchen cabinets which didn't go up to the ceiling and were a disgrace and horrid to clean. I'm a bit of a technology whinger myself. But I generally manage to swear my way through the ordeal. If that doesn't work, then I call Robbie - fixit superman of the computer. Mel - I have bought your fairy godmother a new wand. It looks remarkably like a cattle prod. Things have to get better soon surely Happy - snow, snow and more snow. Don't envy you. I'm complaining because it is cool in the mornings. Stupid Librarians. Next time don't be in too much of a hurry to get on with buying a new one. Had a similar problem at the local library once. However I knew I had taken the book back. So I stood there until they found it. Wouldn't give up and got louder and louder. Fortunately for them, some women came up with the very book to get it checked out after about half an hour. She said that she was on the waiting list for it and found it on the shelf - so they copped another serve on not letting members know the book was in. By that time I was trying very hard not to laugh. Yes I did take the downtime. Sat in the sun and read a book. Anyway, better go and call today as a done deal. More things to do tomorrow and the next day, and the next day so I should cart myself off to bed and get some rest - oh that's right. No rest for the wicked. |

Good Morning chicks A wee bit chilly on the east coast still. Yesterday I ended up working. Took the maint. men by the hands to look for the leak. We did find a toilet problem but not the leak I think. We'll see how the weekend goes. The night was quiet and this morning you could hear a pin drop. Talked to the plumber last night. Monday is a better day for both of us. Then he can deal with the maint men & the office. Not my job. Jen feeling much better too. Meds are working. Nothing else is new here. Hope you all have a great weekend :encore: Shad.....I can see where work will be a vacation after your spring cleaning!! I am sure DS is thrilled with your boxing his stuff up and dropping it off!! Making more work for him as well????  Ceejay....Glad you are feeling better without the headache. Did the Ins Co let you use the urgent care Dr?? Things are so tricky now with all these ins changes. Happy....sorry about the library and the snow. Neither of which I want to happen here:lol3: Hope they do have the book and the case is closed.....lol You are right about the bldg. But it is the office more than the seniors. No one is playing nice in the sand box. Mainly because there is no ADULT supervision! I use a blow dryer still. My hair is a bit nutsy when it dries on it's own. Annie....very glad to hear about Dad. Hope he does well in the rehab  Laura...sorry to hear about your friend's relative. Maybe a good thing and you can get a massage and not go home in the cold! Winter seems to be hanging on a bit. :brr: Enjoy the kettlebell class. Happy Cinco De Mayo!! |
Morning all,
Woke up with a dreadful headache. Probably has something to do with the weather. I was also hoping that it would rain and wash the snow away but that is not the case. We got just the teeniest bit of rain which has just made everything heavy, wet and sloggy. I am concerned about the trees at this point. Mel - I keep forgetting that it's the office people who make up 90 percent of the drama at your place. People get that way when there's no leader. Glad you can step away from it. Also good to hear Jen is on the mend again. Shad - ah to have the "problem" of what to do with 2 bowls of tomatoes fresh out of the garden :cloud9: Send 'em here  I'm sure you will find a great way to deal with them. I hear you on the debate of housework vs office work - cleaning is not bad when you are in the mood for it but it can get time consuming and sometimes make a bigger mess than when you started out. Ceejay - isn't it more the way the doctor charges for the bill rather than the insurance company treating it as urgent care? Hope it got straightened out - and not the roundabout way like your furniture adventure. Guess all the rest of the chicks are Saturday weekend busy. I'm going to go find something for this headache - perhaps a hot shower and get on with the day. Have a good weekend. |
Good afternoon youngins....
My bro from Illinois is in this weekend, ran into him at the rehap while visiting dad. He wanted to know if he and his fam could stay here memorial weekend. Bleh. I love company, but not them. His wife hates me cause I did not go down to Destin when her daughter got married....I was broke, single, and had no way going. That was like 4 years ago. Not excited to have THAT company. Dad's PT (physical therapy) will start on Monday as they do NOTHING on the weekends. His roommate is a dryed up man that cannot talk, eat or anything for himself. I had top run down to the nurses station to tell them dad's roommate was falling out of his bed. Evidently the gal feeding him forgot to put his head bed back down, so he was sliding out of bed. Wonder why they don't place like people together....just a thought. Yikes HAPPY...hope the head starts to feel better. I had to take some ibuprofen while visiting dad...I had a Chuck (my bro) headache. That guy and wife stresses me out. He has another thing coming if he thinks he is staying her every holiday...I will fib and say I already have company or something. Too sad about your trees. You will have to plant more so OUR commune looks pretty! lol And do not eat the ice cream...it will stick to your behind! I will only flip flop when necessary otherwise bare feet for sure! MELLIE...why is it everything happens on Friday or the weekend then you have to deal with it all? Glad Jen is on the mend. You all are continually in my prayers. hugs SHADDIE...for a medium fee, I will do your spring cleaning and you can go to work. I really wouldn't mind being a kept woman and don't care who is keeping me...lol. I say once you reach 50 anything goes. Of course there is the subject of my new husband...package deal!! CEEG...fighting a headache right along with HAPPY. Let me stomp on your toe then you will forget about your head. lol Better post and think about din din for C. ETA on C tonight is 7pm...GOD love him. |
Happy and Mel,
I did call the insurance company to ask. They told me that he was family practice and when I told them that I had to have an appointment to see him but he is in an Urgent Care building. She told me to watch how they charged to make sure. I've looked on some old EOB's and they are charging me for only an office visit. Happy I talked to my sister in Missouri last night and she told me they had 3 inches of snow. Hope that the snow doesn't do any damage to the tree's. Shad Wow once you get started to cleaning you clean. I have to take my good ole easy time. My joints give out to easily. You reminded me that I need to go through the things in the freezer and cabinets. I don't want another episode of exploding cans. Mel A running toilet can raise the water bill. Think my headache the other day was due to the weather also. That's one thing I could do with out. Laura Did you go to an exercise class today? ------------ Drove to Jonesboro in heavy rain yesterday, but I really needed my b12 injection. When I go in next month I'm going to have them ex-ray my knee's. They both have been painful during this last cold rain we've had. It will be time for refills also. |
Annie
You snuck in on me. No thank you for stomping the toe. Good for you in going for help on your dad's room mate. |
Evening Worldlies.
Ceejay- sounds like you'll have to watch your dr bills to make sure you don't get overcharged. Re the exercise class, yes I went to one this morning - the "4 G" - glutes, guns, guts & glory. Silly name, I think the 4th G should be gams instead of glory because we always do a lot of leg work too. Annie- the IL bro & SIL sound like very poor company, def try to avoid those houseguests. Do they just want lodging for the Indy race?? Well, maybe a weekend w/ his roomie will have dad raring to go for the pt on Monday - he'll want to be able to go home!! Headaches are going around - ceeg, happy, you...boo on that! Shad - I'm tired just reading about your cleaning endeavors!! Yeh, cabinets pick up a bit of everything that sprays, spatters & splashes. They need a good wipe down every so often, that's for sure. Re tech stuff, I leave the cursing & teeth- gnashing to bf. he's on the ph w/ tech support right now & I'm at the opposite end of the house, of course. Happy - jeez what a mess re the "missing" library book. I'm sure you'll be watching them check your books back in from now on. Mel - glad all 's quiet, or was - who knows now that the time has passed?? Glad jen's feeling better. Happy cinco de mayo to u too!!! Any special menu for tomorrow? :) Phone is about to die, so I'll update later or tomorrow about my weekend so far, not that there's much to tell...toodles for now. |
Morning Chicks.
2 alarms last night and I am bushed. Had to go to the bathroom so I thought I better drop innow. Going back to bed for awhile. Nothing else is new. Hope you all have a great day. Laura....nothing much here to tell either. Have a good Sunday. Ceejay...Hope the dr visit went ok. We've ben having achy knees this year too. I don't want to know the reason why:rofl: Annie....poor Dad with his roomie. They should put like people together. that poor man!! I can just see it too! good luck with the company! I can imagine how you feel  Happy...how's the head??? Your weather is a mess over there. sure hope the sun comes out and gets rid of everything. Feel better soon. HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!! LET'S CELEBRATE!!! http://www.terroirist.com/wp-content...co-de-mayo.jpg |
It is raining here today...lovely. Poor C didn't get home from work til 8:30 last night, don't know that vacay was worth all the extra work he has had to do since the fill in drive didn't do sh*t, left a lot of product on the truck therefore C did not get a paycheck last week. Thank GOD he got his tax checks back. The ole Peter Paul trick.
I got the hard crunchy part of crab ragoon stuck in my throat then is must of ripped up my throat on the way down cause I can hardly sallow today. Feels like I got my tonsils out again. Soft smushy foods for me, no Mexican. Maybe refried beans...NOT. Miserable. MELLIE....what a great day to go back to bed. C and I woke up at 6am, chatted for a few minutes, then I got up and he went back to sleep. So you two are sleeping together? lol LAURA...that workout should be called Good Giggly Wiggly, God Help me! lol You should be about buff by now....happy and proud for you! CEEG...you really should check into getting the B12 shots prescribed so you can give yourself the shot and save the drive. Hope the knees are not arthritis, sounds like it as it is weather related. CHELLE...hope you are settling in nicely. Goodluck at your first day at work. I am extremely impressed and proud of you. xoxo SHADDIE....are you still catering to Sunday? lol HAPPY....how's the head today? Are you snowed under or is it melting now? How are your feet feeling? Gotta get DS & DD are meeting us at Cs to do the final touches before the renters move in next weekend. Loves and Hugs. |
Good morning ladies,
Cinco De Mayo dawns sunny and should warm to the 60's today. Good I hope it melts this crapp. We have several large tree branches down around the property. A few more cracked since the storm. DH will have a lot of yard work to do including a tree that needs to be hacked up enough to haul back into the woods. But that's ok, it's getting nice outside - no one minds being out there. Was going stir crazy in the house yesterday so we stopped off at the library. I talked to a librarian about the missing/found book and she was the absolute sweetest thing. She said they are very short handed and apologized and took my name and number to have someone in charge talk to me about being reimbursed for the replacement book I purchased. No need for that - seriously - it wasn't that much money at all, was the principal of the thing. I will just make sure going forward that my books are checked in. She did say if the person checking in books goes fast and doesn't wait for the beep, it's possible to "skip" a check in. Then we went out for a burger lunch and stopped by at my cousins and visited for a while. They smoke and since we were all smoked up, we decided to go to the casino for a while. No luck for either of us - spent our small budget, played their money and came home around 9. We showered and DH made us a nice light supper of scrambled eggs, ham and toast. I had sliced avocado also because they are in abundance right now and I just love them. I started to read a bit of Steven King's book 11/22/63. DH could not get into it but I think it's because of the way it started out. It did grab my attention. He also liked The Kitchen House that I had also picked up. I have neglected my other online class on Wordpress - probably because it's not as interactive as the writing classes but I need to get back on that again. I guess I will do a few pick up around the house things and then go shovel some of the extra snow off the deck just to get outside for a bit and get some fresh air. DH talked about going to the next town to the home improvement store but if we go I would like to go to the great Mexican restaurant they have there and seeing as how it's Cinco De Mayo - they might be and probably will be very busy there today. So maybe we will go tomorrow after I stop and get my orthotics. Annie - geez - poor C works awfully long and hard. Are you saying that the sub did not deliver all the product he was supposed to so C had to eat (no pun intended) the profits? I am sorry your throat is all scratchy. Sometimes it seems there is food that does that too - I find there are times when it feels like I swallowed shards of glass - something that irritates the tissue and makes it feel like hundreds of tiny scratches. Not sure what to recommend - some cool yogurt or a salt water gargle. Hope it goes away. Maybe some chocolate pudding - or banana cream with a few banana chunks for some potassium. Head hurts again today and I have a crick from sleeping stupid as I fell off the pillow at night. It's just that time of year, I guess there is a pollen alert up this way too. Pollen? Here? What - snow pollen???? :?:  But apparently there is pine pollen from the trees although for the love of me right now in the current conditions I find that hard to believe. Anyway ... I hope you have a productive day in the rain - I'm sure you are not the napping kind. Enjoy your day with the hubster. Glad you stood your ground with the bro - don't need no family drama. Mel - so just what is it you do with the alarms? Contact the authorities, investigate the cause? Does everyone have an "I've fallen and I can't get up" type of alarm in their apartment or is it more the smoke and water type of things? It seems like there is always something going on in that building of yours. I hope you can shut the shades a get a few good hours of shut eye before Igor and Juan and Pedro show up to trip the light fantastic with you for the Cinco party. Just stay away from the firey salsa - leave that for dancing  Laura - good golly - I must echo Annie's sentiment about the hard core exercising routines you pick. You must be well on your way to iron woman by now! We're going to have to set you up at the guard shack by the entrance to the commune here as you will be the strongest one - don't worry will will back you up with brooms, shovels and tree branches :D Ceejay - DH was just saying yesterday that his achy back has been far less achey since we moved up here. I think perhaps the humidity down by you was not so good for the aches and pains index. Got to start thinking about those knees before it becomes a bigger problem because they certainly limit your mobility tremendously when they hurt. More rain? That's the last thing you need with the river rising. Wait until all this snow we have here starts melting and heading your way although I'm not sure if any of our stuff feeds the Mississippi. Hellos to Shad and Michelle - no doubt both very busy ladies. Good luck on the new job tomorrow Michelle. That came fast. Happy Sunday chicks. |
Annie
Decided this morning that I'm only making one trip per month to Paragould and Jonesboro. It's to much to do all this and keep my apartment a home. Ouch on your throat. Laura, Good for you in going to the exercise class. Happy The snow will probably go into the ground water. The starting point of the Mississippi is in Minnesota I think. I know the Missouri and St Francis river's flow into the Mississippi river. Mel Don't blame you for going back to bed. -------- Happy Cinco De Mayo Didn't watch the Kentucky Derby yesterday. Does any one know the horse that won? I came home yesterday from Jonesboro exhausted. Texted my friend that I was home and she wanted to go eat. So we did. Came back home sat down in the recliner and went to sleep woke up at 1.30 a.m. with the t.v. still on and some documentary was on about aliens. Got up and went to be and slept till 9.45 a.m. I need to go to Walmart in a few minutes and take a piece of mail down to the post office. |
Hi ladies -
I'm so far behind on personals. I haven't even had a minute to get on the computer until today. And I'm exhausted. I fixed myself a quick dinner since step-mom went over to a friend's for dinner. She leaves on Wednesday for a trip, so I'll have the house to myself. Santa has been at doggie day care yesterday and today and seems to enjoy it. He comes home tired anyway. He'll be going every day this week. The day care gives the first week free so we can try it out, which is great. My back is still very sore from yesterday...so I'm going to shower, relax and go to bed early to ensure I get plenty of rest for my first day of work tomorrow. Much love and many hugs, |

IT'S HAD ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH. ENJOY THE EMPTY HOUSE. KICK BACK AND RELAX. |
Morning girls,
This is my least favorite time of the year - when everything starts thawing and the sump pump in the basement runs non stop for about a week straight. It's draining all the water that seeps around the house foundation - and with all the snow we had, believe me - it's ALOT of water. The pump is in our utility room which has the hot water heater, the furnace, our very full stand up freezer, the extra refrigerator and my pantry and storage racks so there's a lot of stuff to potentially lose should the pump kick out. We were going to take a ride to go check out bbq grills but I hate to leave the house until this dries up. We went outside yesterday - DH cut trees and I cleared the entire deck of wet, heavy, slushy snow. It was a job but I went slowly - thank goodness I could push most of it off the side of the deck through the railings because the stuff I did life was mega heavy. DH put together the new swing / lounge chair which is so nice except it's really hard to get out of. And we saw big bear tracks in the snow close to the house so guess who woke up from a long winter's nap? Part of the reason DH put the chair together was so that we could comfortably watch the meteor shower last night but you have to watch it in pitch dark and with the animals rustling around AND the bear I just was not comfortable sitting out there myself. Today I have to run into town and pick up my orthotics and a card for Mom as well as a box of her favorite candy. Good thing the sweet shop decided to open for the season this week. Cute graphic today Mel. Sorry the seniors are playing a game to see who can get you dancing the fastest ;) Glad to hear that Jen is on the mend - that should be encouraging to her also. Good luck on the new job Michelle. Will catch up with the rest of you lot a bit later. |
Morning all. Quick pop-in before we head off to a meeting and lunch w/ a vendor. Just enough time I think to wish Michelle a good first day on the new job. :)
Today started off badly with my train cancelled and not knowing which ones after that would be stopping at the station to pick us up, and not knowing which platform to be at to. So annoying. Usually the station employee will get on the PA and say something, but nooooo. Naturally, the platform I was on had the train that didn't stop. Sigh. So, arrived late, and have got nothing done so far. Okay, off to take a quick look at the restaurant's site, check out the menu. TTFN. |
Good Morning all...
Busy weekend. SHuu weeee! Glad to get back to work to get my personal business done. The enrollment meeting went well, now getting ready for Wednesday's enrollment. Putting packets this afternoon. Will meet our rep in Noblesville, Indiana at 8am at the Panera Bread. That should be delightful! Fresh, hot coffee!! HAPPY...yep you hit the nail on the head about the sub that ran his route. THey just do not make hard workers like they used to. Glad you got your chair together, however when I have a chair like that, I make dang sure I don't have to get out of it for a long time once I sit down. I am gargling salt water and my throat does feel a bit better today. Movin' and meltin' snow, bleh LAURA....bah on the train! CHELLE....hope your first day is going great! MELLIE....glad Jen is doing so well. That must be a relief. CEEG...I do a lot of recliner sleep as well, some of my best sleep is in the recliner. HEY SHADDIE!! Bout it for me. Later chickies |
Mel
Ouch on al those alarms. Tell those seniors to stay put for a change. Glad Jen is feeling better. Annie I've never been to Panera Bread. They have on in Jonesboro. May have to look into that. Happy Don't blame you for not wanting to be out in the dark when all the critters are stirring about, especially the bear. I was hoping she/he would find a new home. Michelle Hope day one at work goes well. Laura Bummer on the train schedule. ------- Got to work this morning to find out that the filter that was not working last week had been fixed but went out again. They fixed it again this morning. So far it's holding. My boss/friend came in this morning and told me that there was a nail in the passenger side front tire on the car. I called the garage and they came and got it, fixed it and then brought it back. No telling how long I'd been riding on that. I call myself checking but it may have been underneath. |
Mel - I hope today is being quiet for you and you've had a chance to catch up on your zzz's. Good news for Jen's speedy recovery.
Annie - Sorry the rain is putting a damper on things. Sure wish you were here to put our garden to rights, LOL. Sorry C had to come back to a lot of work and no paycheck. Boo! Good thing the tax check was there!! Yeh, Good Giggly Wiggly for the class name is probably 2/3 apppropriate - it's a good workout, though there's some wiggly going on (upper arms in particular, LOL). Too busy breathing heavily and sweating to be giggly though!!! :D Ouch re the scratched throat. Now what's that rule about how many times you should chew your food??? :?: Hope it's feeling better by now. You sound like you're looking forward to the coffee Wed. morning - didn't you replace that broken coffee machine yet?? :coffee2: Happy - Sounds like you had a nice weekend. Yeh, it's so nice to get outside in the fresh air, especially when it won't freeze your lungs!! :D I say donate the book you bought so you can take a tax deduction on it.... I don't know how strong I am even with this exercising, because I felt like I lost a lot of fitness when I had that gap in exercise after I injured my shoulder last summer and again when I had the flu earlier this year. But I'm smaller now and what strength I'm getting is showing more. I made a point of wearing a stretchy top to the kbell class yesterday because up til then, all the instructor probably saw was that I get winded easily and sweat alot, and who knows what he thought was under the baggy t-shirt. So I thought it would be good for him to see that I actually have the start of some ab definition under there, LOL. But I'd definitely need back up in the role of commune security!!! Is there anything that would repel the bear? Maybe you just need one of those shark cages on your deck.... Fingers :crossed: that the sump pump keeps on pumping!! Ceejay - Good for you deciding to scale back the weekend travel. I looked at the sport's page for the Derby results but don't recall the horse's name. Oops. It sure looked muddy. I heard someone on the radio this morning talking about how the jockey's wear multiple sets of goggles and just pull off a pair once they get muddied up. I never knew that. Michelle - No worry about personals, you've got a lot to focus on right now, just do what you have to do. Hope your back is feeling better today and your day is going well. Hi Shad!! === Meeting went well and lunch was fine. Weekend was alright. Friday we went to the German deli/cafe for dinner. I had a bowl of goulash soup, a half sandwich and some chips and when I got home I fell asleep shortly after I turned on the tv. Ceejay - it's so easy to fall asleep on the recliner!!! Saturday was the 4G class, then some laundry and then lunch with bf. He opted to use my once-a-year accompaniment to Hooters that day, and he had the wings and I had the fish sandwich. I don't hate the place, but it's awfully loud. It's very interesting how many families with young kids they get in that place! :D After lunch, we ended up going to buy my cell phone, and then we went to the mall to get our new phones Ghost Armored (protects the face of the phone). OMG, the mall on the weekend is a nightmare. So loud and filled with people, I just don't know how people work there. And while we waited for our phones to be done I made the mistake of going into H&M to see about some dress slacks. That place looked like a tornado had gone through, and it was packed. Ugh. Living only 6 miles away, you'd think it would be a good place for me to shop, but I just can't take it. Next time I go, it'll have to be a weekday morning, or maybe a weekday evening. Anyway, I was happy to go home and take doggy for a walk. :) Sunday was a nice day, but after my k'bell class and a shower, I went shopping for slacks. Ended up at Kohl's - close to home and cheap. About a year ago I noticed they no longer bother trying to make sure the size of clothing on the clothing matches the size on the hanger itself. What a nightmare trying to find my size! I ended up with a pair and when the checkout girl asked if I found everything okay, I told her that their racks were a disaster. She said she'd pass that along, but I don't think she really meant it... Back home to bf working on moving all my stuff from my iphone to my galaxy. An argument ensued over the whole situation and I won't get into it, but it put us both in a bad mood after that. We did, however, get out for lunch and stopped at the market for a few things afterwards. Back home, I walked doggy, spent some time in the yard with doggy and then it was time for dinner. We had our American tacos to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Tried to figure out the new phone a bit after dinner, but it'll take a bit of time to get accustomed to it. Technology!! Nothing planned for tonight. I imagine bf will want to rush me to say it's okay to sell my iphone now, but I'm still not sure I have everything off of it. My photos are saved to the computer hard drive, and my contacts and music made it over, but my calendar is blank and I dont know if my notes are anywhere...have to figure out which app I use to download and listen to podcasts...:faint: Okay, enough rambling. Time to wreak some work out of the day. |
LAURA....I read all these posts from you about walking doggie...well Sass is having none of that. I put the leash on her go out the front door and she filps over on her back and won't walk...or she walks a few feet, pulls and tugs on the leash then flips over on her back...you would have to literally drag her upside down on the leash..she is such a sheet. My DD said it is because we spoil her and carry her everywhere...well yeah...she is our baby....I might try the harness thing to see if she will do better. What a nightmare. You keep up the exercise, kettleball, gggg thing for the both of us. Kohls is notorious for just getting things back out on the floor, hence who cares what the hanger says, just hang it. I didn't work at the service desk for 2 1/2 years to know that is what happened....throat is feeling a bit better, like the 3rd day of strep throat. This, too, I will overcome!..
CEEG...wow on the nail in the tire thing. It is a good thing you didn't have a dang blow out. Of course, the nail was probably plugging the hole and saving your life. Scary stuff. Panera is pretty good, I especially like their soups and salads, rather than their breads and bagels. Better get the kitchen cleaned, dryer folded and hit the hay. Took 1000 mg of ibuprofen to cut the throat pain, so maybe I can sleep tonight. Was miserable last night and got up with C this morning at 3 am. Goodnight/morning all...chat tomorrow, after enrollment meeting... Love and hugs. |
