HAPPY MOMMA's DAY....human and furry!!
|
|
Morning all! Happy Mother's Day! ;)
Annie - Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday - did you get to everything? Hope u enjoy the day w/ c & his family. Happy - did you & dh get the greenhouse secured? I went to our little local conservatory yesterday - they had their annual plant sale. I bought a pot of pansies for bf's mum's patio. Ill have to get the rest from the home improvement store. the selection at the sale was quite small. Shad - Nice of you help your friend Chris with Excel. Hope it stays in h her head and it helps her land a new job. Sorry to hear about your friend losing his son - how horrible! Too bad you're going to miss the funeral service, but trying to be available for support whenever it might be needed is what's important. Hope you had a nice feed today the & tooth work goes well tomorrow. Doesn't sound like a good time -definitely remember to get some painkillers from the dentist!!! Back when I'm at the desktop - typing on this phone is drving me nuts! |
Okay, I'm back and on a real keyboard and large screen now.
Happy - re the plant sale - it was rather small and selection limited, so I really just need to go to the home improvement stores garden center to get what I want. I saw new neighbors in a corner house nearby dismantling the greenhouse the previous owner had in the backyard - wonder what they did with it. Shad - Nice the kids did some of the yardwork with you. You're not gonna try and write the document while you're on pain pills are you? :yikes:  Mel - Hope the rest of your chair stays intact until your new chair is ready for you!!! I like your new avatar too!! :) Hope the building stays quiet. Ceejay - Glad you enjoyed the show. Way back as a kid we took a vacation to MO and spent a day or two in Branson. This was well before it got built up the way it is now, and the Baldknobbers was one of the shows we saw! There were really only a few of those theaters doing shows like that back then. Branson was totally unrecognizable when I saw it several years back when I went out to visit my mother. Not that I would have remembered much from 40+ years ago, lol. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip - when do you return? Hello Michelle - hope your having a good day in sunny northern CA. :sunny: === No exercise class yesterday morning - I had a lot I wanted to do. Did quite a bit of it - errands, shopping, housecleaning, etc. We also had the annual lab rescue org auction and dinner last night. It was a lovely event, always has been. We sat with a pleasant group of people - three couples who were there together. Nice night. And as they say - it's for the labs!! :D We won one silent auction item we bid on (out of about 4) - a Pampered chef circular pizza stone and a nice pizza slicer. Our rectangular stone is slightly small for large-ish pizzas, so this will be nice. And our current pizza slicer is a small thing, nothing compared to this large-wheeled one. We also bid on several donated gift cards (live auction, card goes to the first bidder, at face value) and won one card for The Cheesecake Factory and one for our favorite electronics store. More to do today and I'm going to try to do a couple things before my kettlebell class, so I better hit it. Everyone have a great day! |
Good morning ladies,
Happy Mum's Day to You. It's sunny but very cool here - supposed to get down to 25 tonight, glad we have the greenhouse up to protect the plants. Yesterday was just a total whacky weather day. It was grey, cloudy and very windy. Then the sun broke out. Then 2 minutes later it got dark again. It started to rain. Then I heard something and looked out the window to see a literal blizzard of white round pellets - like the snow melt stuff you put on the ice. We got rain, sleet, ice, wind, clouds and sun. It kept cycling through. Very strange. I got a new squirrel proof feeder when I was at the nursery and DH put it up the other day - got a new bird - a rosebreasted grosbeak. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...ps43ac92f1.jpg Sorry that it's kind of blurry. My camera will not zoom quite enough to capture the birdfeeder from clear across the yard. I had a better shot of the bird when it was on another perch, but as soon as I got up to get the camera it flew off. We have 2 males - as usual the males are the more colorful ones. I think one of the females was on the suet cage but didn't get a good enough look at her. Not sure if I'm going to work in the garden today - it's sunny but a bit breezy and cool for me so I might stay inside today. We are going to a nice dinner out this evening that I'm looking forward to. Already called my Mum and sister and spoke with them. Mel - I'm so glad that Jen saw the bolt before there was any serious problem. OMG - that could have been a total disaster. Hope the new chair gets to you soon. Good for you on keeping the weight down - I know it must be hard but you are doing a great job! Laura - I have one of those pizza stones - my sister gave it to me for a housewarming present when we moved to TN. I loved it so much - use it for pizza, cresent rolls, all kinds of stuff. Eventually it will crack from wear and tear and I just had to replace it. She also gave me one of those super big pizza cutters which disappeared and made me sad. DH liked to use it and had a maddening habit of leaving the cutter in the pizza box. I didn't always check the box before I tossed it and I'm afraid that the cutter wound up in the garbage can. You will love them I'm sure. Did you get the stone with the built in handles or the wire rack that it sets in? I have the rack. Sounds like the new neighbors are not gardeners tearing the greenhouse down. But I would agree that it's something you have to totally use or it's not worth taking up the space in the yard. Enjoy your kettlebell class today. Shad - nice that the kids helped out in the yard. Hope all goes well with the tooth tomorrow. I can't think of a better way to write about a stiff subject like capacity planning with other than a big bottle of wine or the fog of some good painkillers  Hope you are having fun Ceejay. Enjoy your day Annie - don't spend it doing all work. What happened to Michelle??? Did she take a wrong turn and is wandering northern California??? Time to go get busy. Again, Happy Mother's Day to All. |
Oh also meant to say that I watched the movie Guilt Trip with Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogan yesterday. It was cute. Barbra plays the overbearing mom to a T - just when it starts to get to be too much, the plot twists. It had a nice ending. Not Oscar material, just a smile, feel good movie.

Happy Mother's Day everyone, including those of us whose kids have 4 legs and fur!
My new job is going well. And I've got a potential opportunity brewing in San Diego. Before I accepted my new job, I had agreed to be presented for a permanent position for a company located in Escondido, just north of San Diego. I had a phone interview a week ago and it went well, so they asked me to fly down at their expense for a face to face interview. I took Friday off and flew down. I think the interviews went well, and I should know whether or not I get the job either this week or next week. If I do get the job, I'll just drive down there with my clothes and Santa and leave my furniture in storage. And I'll stay with my cousin's ex-wife for a month or two until I find a place. At least when I move my stuff down there, it's only a 10 hour drive, and not a 4 day drive. Right now, I'm just going with the flow. I'm enjoying staying in my step-mom's home. Santa and I are just kicking back in the backyard enjoying the 70 degree temps this morning. It gets warm in the afternoon, but there's plenty of shade. I did all my errands and laundry yesterday, though I may wash sheets today. Santa is having fun chasing the squirrels! My step-mother is away on a trip. And since she travels at least once a month or so, we should be able to make this living arrangement work if I don't get the job in Escondido. She would like me to stay here so that I can get some of my debt paid down, and that would be very helpful. On the other hand, if I stay with my cousin's ex-wife, we can help each other through the post-divorce healing/re-building process. I'm just going with the flow knowing that whatever is meant to be is going to happen. And wherever I end up, I'll have people around who love me and care about me, and whatever job I end up having...I know I'll be successful. Because as I proved to myself on the roadtrip out here, once I put my mind to something, I can do positively anything! I'll try and catch up on personals later...sorry I've been away so much. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your weekend! Much love and many hugs, |
Teeth are out. Implant is in. Hurt is happening. Soup and then a nap. Not doing anything thing today other than curling up on the couch and reading a book, watching television and snoozing.
|
Sleep as much as you can Shad - feel better soon  I hear this is the worst part - the rest of the bits are not nearly as bad.
|
Actually it is not as bad as I thought. The bits that hurt at the moment are not in the mouth. Must have had to lean on my cheekbone.
I'm sleepy, but not in pain, however my mouth tastes bad! Another rinse out shortly then probably an early night. |

GOOD MORNING CHICKLETS!!
Sunny, bright day in Indy....a lil on the chilly side, but I will take it. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day but only 50 degrees. A little on the burrrrrr side for me. Mothers day went well but was very stressful drive wise and trying to cram everything into one day. Started out we arrived to visit with dad at about 9 am. Then left there at 10:30, got to Cs parent's house at noon, off to Taco Bell then to ice cream. It wasn't DQ, it was this lil privately owned ice cream joint. I had half of a small strawberry sundae with pecans, no whip cause me no like whip....well depends on who is doing the whipping...bahaha. C got a turtle sundae, the others got peanutbutter ididerod (sp). It is PB ice cream with oreo cookie ice cream in a waffle cone flipped upside down in an cup. You scrape the top of into the bowl then is the part in the waffle cone then the cup part. Silly if you ask me but that is there thing and I went along with it. Then we left there at 2 to get home by 4 as my kids came over with the sweetest cards, a new 1 1/2 foot yard gnome for the garden and a mini-teeny-weenie pink rose bush that is only supposed to get about a foot tall once planted. C brought me lovely planter and sweet card on Saturday night. All the kids left about 6:30 and I collapsed. Cutting Cs grass last Wednesday, somewhere I got into poison oak and have a couple of streaks across my upper chest/neck area. Itches like the dickens, but refraining. Taking allergy meds and using cortisone ointment on it. Just don't want it to spread, lil close too close to my face. SHADDIE...hope the pain subsides soon and you are back to your ornery self. Hmmm capacity planning? Is that like Humana moving us from a large suite to this sardine can suite? lol HAPPY...what a lovely bird on that feeder. My dad would absolutely love it. I may print it out and take it with me tonight to show him. He loves birds...he actually got a BLUEJAY<----as mean as they are, to come eat peanuts off the lil table next to his lawnchair. Now that is brave. The greenhouse is such a plus and fresh lettuce, I am jealous. CHELLE...so happy for you that things are working out and coming together for you. See you just have to believe it, not just say the words of encouragement. Hugs.. LAURA....love love love Pampered Chef. I have a zillion items from Pampered Chef from parties that were going strong back when I lived in the sticks. I have that round stone also, used to have the square one but it bounced off the shelf and broke in about 6 pieces. booo.. CEEG....glad you are having a good time in Branson and getting a few laughs at the shows. MELLIE...Another peaceful night, amen! Glad Richie could fix the chair before the wheel came off. I have seen a few cars like that on the highway, it is not pretty. Have a marvy Monday sister! Better get this posted...love and hugs, have a great day/night.... |
And there is MELLIE typing over my head! Well now the rest of the weekend with all the seniors and alarms, don't they know it is Mother's Day weekend?
|
Had a good weekend until mothers day.woke up with a bad stomach virus. All is well this morning except for some soreness. Getting ready to head back to arkansas
|
Annie - I forgot your Dad likes birds so much. Here's a better shot of the Grosbeak. DH waited very patiently with his camera (much better zoom).

Morning all!
Happy - Nice bird feeder, and a nice pic of the bird - looks like he's got a seed in his beak. :) Let's see if the feeder keeps the squirrels at bay. I suppose you really do need a greenhouse to extend your growing season up there. Yeh, I think the people that took out the greenhouse have kids and probably wanted the yard space more than the greenhouse. Thanks for your take on The Guilt Trip. I'll have to get on the list at the library or see if it's available on Netfix, or maybe Redbox. Re the pizza stone, ours has the metal rack. I checked it out online and see that it's been retired now, and the built in handles are what they sell now. I think I prefer the perfectly flat stone. Michelle - Glad the job is going well, and fingers :crossed: re the SD job oppty. Too funny to think that a possible move down there wil be "only a 10-hour" drive!! It might be a good thing for this to happen sooner than later, before the dust settles, and you and Santa get comfortable. :D Whatever happens, we know you can definitely do it!! :) Shad - Hope you're getting some good rest and recovery time and the pain stays manageable. Mel - Wow, sounds like it was a crazy weekend - calls every two hours!!! I hope everyone pays attention to the sign on your door and you can get some peace and rest today. You sure deserve it. Yeh, the lab rescue organization has a lot of wonderful volunteers. I need to seriously think about what I might be able to do for them. They have people who act as foster parents to dogs while they are in the process of getting healthy and waiting to be adopted, they have people who transport dogs taken into the organization, people who screen the adoption applicants, etc. Annie - What a whirlwind day for you yesterday, but it sounds wonderful (and tiring). You must post a photo of your new gnome when you find a home for it in your yard. :D I really want a gnome - gonna shop for one and use one of my gift cards to pay for it. Ick, poison oak! I hope it goes away fast!! How uncomfortable. I'm not one for those parties where you buy stuff, but since I LOVE kitchen gadgets, I don't mind going to the Pampered Chef parties at all. Ceejay - Sorry to hear you had tummy troubles on your vacation - I hope you feel better soon and have a safe drive back home. === Sore in many spots today. I went to the kettlebell class to find I was the only student there. We decided to do some k'bell and then some TRX. TRX is a strap system that gets secured to a beam or similar and it uses your own body weight to do strength training. OMG, it was tough - you have to really use your core to keep yourself stable while doing the moves. At one point he had my feet in the loops so that they were suspended (probably 4-6 inches off the floor) and me trying to do some plank moves usually done with feet on the floor. Oy! I came home to find bf on the phone w/ his mum - she'd gone out to a lunch on Saturday with her sister and a niece at a restaurant that is known for giant portions. She had a burger and ended up sick. She didn't come for dinner. Bf had already prepped the roast (it had to sit in the fridge for 2-24 hours anyway) and side dish, so it's ready to go for tonight. Hopefully she's feeling better and can make it tonight. Either way, we have to prepare the meal tonight. We had lunch and made a couple stops including Walmart. I walked doggy and then relaxed. I was beat from that kbell class and slept like the dead last night. Nice day today, low 60's expected, but cooler down here by the lake. The admin said this is the boss's last day before her 3-week vacation - I thought it was tomorrow. Guess we'll see. I'd really like to go home and be a couch potato tonight, but if bf's mom is coming to dinner, it'll be a bit more than that, but it'll still be nice. Better skeedaddle now. |
Morning all,
Guess we had quite a dip in temps last night. A couple of my plants in the greenhouse are rather droopy today - the basil looks a bit frostbitten and the green beans and a couple of the tomatoes are looking a bit sad. :( It's supposed to be sunny today and while in the 40's at night, not quite so cold so I hope they will recover. :crossed: They have a new chef at the casino and he's really trying to up their game (no pun intended) for the buffet. They had a marvelous looking offering for yesterday so I told DH that's what I wanted for our one meal out for the week. They had lunch from 11 to 2 and dinner from 4 to 8pm. I would have done either but the dinner offerings were more to DH's liking. He decided to take a nap in the afternoon so we got there just after 5pm. There was a LONG line there. They were giving out numbers and we were number 68. They were calling number 24 at the time. ;) They had turned the usual kind of sad room into something quite nice with tablecloths, candles on the table and all the ladies got long stemmed roses and a glass of champagne. It was 8:10pm when they finally called our number. I know DH was being a trooper because he doesn't like to eat much past 6pm, much less our biggest meal of the day. You pay up front and I noticed that it was a few dollars less than advertised. Went in to eat and aside from the prime rib, it was a totally different menu than what was listed on the advertisement. And that menu was why we waited almost 3 hours to eat. Also the tablecloths and candles and roses were gone. I asked the meat carver what happened to the menu and he said they were wiped out. I don't think in the history of the casino they ever served that many people. I was a little upset because I would never have waited that long had I known they ran out of the good stuff. But I have to say, what we did have was delicious. DH was very happy in fact because some of the things I wanted like roasted asparagus, Eggs Oscar - girly food - was replaced by things like twice baked potatoes and steak and peppers - MAN food  We did have a nice dinner, even if it was very late. Next Friday they are doing a special fish fry - this time we learned our lesson, we will be there 30 minutes before it opens. Lest you think we are pigs, remember that it's REALLY HARD to get nice meals here. Mostly it's fish fry, burgers and pizza. I do miss the variety of grocery stores and restaurants from back in Chicago - but that's about all I miss. We were supposed to take a travel trip to the home improvement store but I am just not feeling up to it today. My back hurts for some reason. Will have to check it out for another day. Other than that, just housework and I should get to the 2 books I checked out from the library. I picked up a few groceries yesterday so we are good with food for the week. Ceejay - sorry you took ill. That's particularly rough when you have to travel. Hope you will get home without incident. Annie - whooo you make me tired with your busy day. We had one of those tiny pink rose bushes in TN. I loved it but they are quite fragile. I hope yours takes and blooms well. Oh no on the poison oak! I sure hope it doesn't spread. Don't they make some soap or something to get the oil off your skin? Bluejays are pigs. Many consider them to be a nuisance bird because they bully the smaller birds. I think they are pretty as long as they play nice. We would feed them peanuts also - they are pretty brave when it comes to getting near to humans to get food. Mel - too funny about the avatar - for sure I can see you rolling back and forth pulled in all directions. VERY fitting  I guess we are all getting a bit of cool weather this week. Long range forecast pattern for us is a cooler than usual summer. Which is ok, I only like hot when there's a pool to cool off in, otherwise 70 degrees is right up my alley. I don't think that's true tho for your area - might be "the heat is on". Just what you need - hot seniors and NOT in a good way  We are hoping we can attract orioles here too this year. I guess you put a couple of nails in a board and tack it to a tree and they will eat from that. Or you can get oriole feeders with a sugar water solution similar to the hummingbird stuff. They sure are pretty birds. Beats looking at goofus people  Hope you day quiets down. Shad - hope you got a good night's sleep and wake up feeling better. Michelle - good luck with the interviews. Hi Laura  will catch up with you later. Time to go find some breakfast. Have a good one chicks. |
Ah there's Laura typing over my head again. "Cooler by the lake..." that is SO CHICAGO  and it really is true too. Whoowee what a work out in that class. Sometimes it's not so good to get one on one attention - hope you are not too sore today. Re: the lab rescue - I'm sure you can find some way to help out. I'm sure they are happy for any help they can get. They need foster folks here too at the shelter, I just think I'd get so attached to the animals I would not want to give them up.

nice post ladies

Morning all,
Well the pain is not too bad at all. I can feel the jawbone, but it is just an ache not full blown pain. Didn't sleep too well last night but that is only to be expected since I slept most of the afternoon away. And now Miss Puss and I are up and at it well before daybreak - her because her ever empty tummy demands sustenance and me because I couldn't stay in bed any longer. My teeth have been cleaned about 4 times since 2.00am this morning because of the dreadful taste in my mouth and I am now enjoying a cup of tea which is cooled to the extent that I don't get pain when I drink it. Today is the biopsy and apart from the check up for my teeth and removal of the stitches in 2 weeks time, I am done with medical appointments and aren't I glad about that. It's cool and misty and damp over here. Mind you our cool is about 20C at the moment. Around 70F give or take a degree or two. It will probably make 80F by lunchtime. This rain is good for the beans, but not good for me to be outside and chopping hedges or digging gardens - so the weeds can take a break for another couple of days before I get to them. I'll concentrate on the inside some more. DS2 and G/F have bought a duplex property. One side is quite habitable and the other needs a lot of work done on it. They have investigated putting in some of the refugees that seem to flood our shores and need rehoming while they wait for their visas and permanent residency. I figure that since so much of my tax dollars go towards investigating, feeding, housing and caring for the health of these people, my family might as well get some benefit out of it. Anyway, they are now furnishing the first unit and are raiding the cupboards and stored boxes for things like dinner sets, cups, glasses, pots and pans. I'm getting rid of a lot of clutter and it is going off to be useful. Bit of a bonus. I might not be in favour of a lot of these people being let willy nilly into our shores but the world is a rotten place and we have to do what we can. Annie - a gnome! Do you have other gnomes in the yard? Some of them are quite cute. Sounds like you had a busy Mothers Day. That ice cream thing sounds pretty awful to me. I like my ice cream straight. Just give it to me NOW! Capacity planning is similar to stuffing a whole lot of people into a space - however it doesn't look at the floor plan! It's about putting a group of people with like qualifications together - eg. electricians, working out the number of hours that they are available to work and finding jobs for those hours. We (in the mines) like to make sure our workers are fully occupied you know, to compensate for the huge amounts of pay we give them. Lets hope they don't bring capacity planning into your office eh? Michelle - I forgot that this job you have is a contract job. Well let's hope something permanent comes up if that is what you want. Personally I've done contracting for so long now that I wouldn't know what to do with a full time permanent. Happy - nice to see the bird pictures coming through again. Don't think I would have hung around waiting for a table to be free like you did. The menu must have been something special. Hope the little plants come back for you. Ceejay - hope you feel better now Laura - I enjoyed hearing about the friends of the Lab. These people do a lot for the poor animals. I watch the GSD page on facebook and cringe every time they talk about an animal being in a high kill shelter. Geez man, the authorities should licence the owners not the dogs. There is a group in NZ called Paws Justice that along with the RSPCA takes owners and people who mistreat animals to court and often manage to win reasonable sentences for these people who are IMHO worse than animalistic. Enjoy the pizza stone. Mel - what a Mothers Day you had. Maybe you need to schedule another one next weekend. Are the kids still coming up for the summer? Poor Jen. She doesn't get much of a break does she. I may take today as a rest day, but then again I might just up and go somewhere nice - oh probably not, it is raining again. No walk for me today then. I will have to try the yoga/pilates/ tai chi thing on the floor again. I exercise 5 days a week but it aint doing much I can tell you. Hello Purasilk. Nice to hear from you. Are you just new to the threads? Well |
Hi everyone,
Shad - I'm glad the pain has lessened. I think I missed what you were having biopsied, but I hope it turns out to be free and clear of any nastiness. I tried to work from home this morning (since we're allowed and encouraged to do so on Mondays and Fridays), but I couldn't connect. So I went into the office, had the support team figure out what was wrong..and went home at lunch to work from home the remainder of the day. I'm glad I did because I got a call from my ex. Our 12 year old dog Doppler had stopped eating. He was being quite finicky for the last several weeks, but would eat more often than not. Even still he had lost nearly 1/4 of his body weight (he's just a 20lb dog and today weighed in at 15lbs). My ex took him to the vet today and the vet said he just wasn't absorbing any of the food he ate. 12 years is not old for a dog of his size...but I guess after having diabetes for much of his life, his little body just gave out. The vet ran a blood test which confirmed what the vet suspected...that Doppler's organs were shutting down. There was nothing the vet could do. Doppler was dying. So since there was no hope for recovery, my ex had the vet put Doppler to sleep. So very sad. I'm heartbroken. When I pick Santa up from day care today, I'm going to give him an extra big hug and Thank God that I have him. I'm glad I got to spend some quality time with Doppler before I moved west. |

HOPE YOU GET TO GO SOME PLACE NICE,,,,TAKE THE CAMERA!! LOL GIVE MISS PUSS A PAT FOR ME. MICHELLE....SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT DOPPLER. HEARTBREAKING TO LOSE A BELOVED PET. I STILL MISS MY BIRDIES. GLAD YOU GOT TO WORK AT HOME. HOPE THE CONNECTION PROBLEMS STAY SOLVED!! |
Good morning ladies. Just enough time for a quick  before I start work.
I hope those who need rest, get to rest; and those who need to be productive (like me) are productive. Much love, |
Good Morning.........
Started my day off at the dentist. Had two fillings replaced that fell out. My bottom front two teeth. THis is about the 6th time they have been replaced from fall outs. It is hard to get fillings to stay in them. Bout every two years. He is only charging me for one of them tho....yee haaa. MELLIE...V I C T O R Y on the new front tires for the chair. Good things come to those who wait! Your long wait is ridiculous tho. I think you should put an alarm in the senior's apts, then every night pull the alarm in their place so they can see how it feels...ba hahaha. CHELLE....so sorry to hear about Doppler. My heart breaks for you. Glad to you have Santa to love on. May a fluke but seems like once you left the doggies in the x's care, both of them went down hill. Just sayin' you must be the better parent. :) SHADWICK....yep got the yard gnomes all over my front rock garden and flower garden. I love the little critters, however they sorta resemble my xh. hahaha...short and white furry hair, all he needs is the hat and little boots...ba haha, I am lmao right now. I worked with design engineers for 23 years while at RCA/GE/Thomson. They are in a league of their own. Strange and nerdie, but very intelligent. Only a handful had a tolerable personality. Glad you are wrapping up on your med appts. Do let us know how the biopsy comes out. HAPPY...great the food at the casino is better, too bad you didn't get the best of it. I agree with you on the bluejays, normally they dive at your head when you get too close. They just seem mean...like a gang or something. By the time I figured out I had the poison oak it was too late, already broke out. I got some Campho-Phenique to rub on it to dry it out then some topical benedryl cream that blocks the histamine. All and all it does feel better now but still bumpy and red. LAURA....I am convinced you are taking torture classes and not exercise classes. Holy cow you are on a roll. Hope DIL is feeling better and enjoyed dinner with you last night. CEEG...feeling better? Safe travels home sister. Hello Purasilk! Better get busy, didn't get here to 10 due to dentist appt. It is now 11 and I am just in no hurry to start this work day...hahahha Love and hugs |
Morning all.
Mel - Hope you can catch up on your sleep today - maybe a nice nap?? How great the town is getting you the new front tires on your chair - no sarcasm, they'd be lost without you in that building and they know it!! Bf's mom is still not feeling back to normal and she was unable to join us for dinner last night. :( If she's not feeling well today, she said she's going to the doctor. LOL re your comment re the kettlebell class! Next week is the last one - and it's the make-up class for the one the instructor missed. I sure hope we have another student besides me this time!! Michelle - I'm so very sorry to hear about Doppler. So sad for you and the ex. It wasn't so long ago you lost Mischief. :( Dogs with medical problems add a whole new level to the heartbreak because of their shortened life span. Shad - I'm glad the pain isn't too bad. I recall when I had my wisdom teeth extracted many years ago that the pain didn't last long from the extraction itself, but it seemed like my jaws got tired quickly when I started eating solid food again. Hope the biopsy comes out clean. It's nice that some of your castoff items can be used in ds2's rental unit. I'm with you - I'm not tempted by all the fancy ice cream flavors or all the stuff added to it (except for rocky road). Yes, people who neglect or abuse animals are some of the lowest life forms around. Going anywhere nice now that all your appointments are done for the time being?? Happy - Glad you had a good meal on Sunday, but too bad it wasn't what you anticipated - and that looooong wait! I wouldn't have waited, but I understand your options are much fewer up there, so it's not as simple as going to another place in the area. Is your back feeling better today?? Ceejay - You're probably on your way home. Safe travels! Annie - Looks like you're getting the same warm weather we're gonna have today. Whoohoo! :sunny: === As I mentioned to Mel, bf's mom was still under the weather, so we split the roast and froze a big hunk and cooked the smaller portion just for bf and I. It was really tasty. The price was steep, but I guess you get what you pay for... The homemade au gratin taters were very yummy too. And we also ate the dessert we bought - bf had tiramisu and I had a napoleon. On top of that I'd also succumbed to the snack monster on the way home from work yesterday and bought a bag of those cheese-filled pretzels and had about 2/3 of the bag. No surprise that my weight is up 2 pounds overnight, so I don't have high hopes for a loss today at my ww weigh-in. No movie tonight - it was moved to Thursday this week. Not sure if I'll go to an exercise class or just get out in the yard and enjoy the weather. Okay, better get this posted before another interruption comes along. |
Morning all,
Michelle - so sorry to hear about Doppler. I know it's hard to lose them but you certainly don't want them slowly starving either. Hope Santa will remain healthy and carry on for the group. Mel - I'm somewhat confused, unless you had a bed like mine which was ultra pillow tops on top of a big bed frame which required a running leap and a pole to get into it, how does a woman have an issue getting into her bed????? And I guess it follows that if she needed assistance getting INTO the bed then I guess she couldn't lock the doors afterwards  Holy cow - do you think the availability of the alarms sometimes makes it more convenient for them to ring on stuff they would have otherwise figured out on their own? I'm so glad they are going to replace your tires. For all you do running that building unofficially, I think it's the least they can do to help you out. I'm glad SOMEONE is on your side in this oftentimes uphill battle. Shad - glad the jaw is on the mend. Your 'cool' weather is my ideal weather. I take it that DS and GF are rather handy (like Mum) when it comes to rehabbing properties? They say if you shop carefully (and it sounds as if they do) many places can be fixed up nicely for a minimum of investments. As long as the tenants don't wreck the place or ditch out on the rent, but I imagine that can be controlled to some degree with a bit of background checking too. I imagine you are off (work) for as long as you chose to be? Anything more about the training project with your buddy? I missed the garden gnome Annie - how fun is that? It's supposed to get all the way into the 80's temperature wise today. Which will make for quite the warm day. Especially after I wasted the gas to warm the place this morning  - however it is very overcast and looks like the skies want to open up and wash us away so I don't think it will get quite as warm as they say. I guess I learned a costly lesson with the greenhouse. Sunday night it dipped down to 21 degrees. I had my plants in the greenhouse and thought they would be ok. We got home after 10pm and it wasn't until after midnight I was checking the weather when I saw it was going to get that cold (didn't feel all that chilly when we arrived home so I wasn't expecting it). I was already in my pjs and didn't want to mess around in the dark outside fussing with a cover for the plants. When we tarped the plants in the garden, it seemed enough just to have them covered over so I thought the greenhouse would also do the same - protect the plants from frost settling on the leaves. I guess it was cold enough to freeze the plants. The green beans, cucumbers, most of the tomatoes, basil and mint - more than half my plants are looking very raggedity. I brought the beans, mint and basil into the house and did cover the plants last night although it stayed in the 50's overnight. Went to uncover them today and the cucumbers and tomatoes are looking far worse than they were yesterday. It's questionable if they will be able to recover. I could just kick myself for being such a dummy. Now I know better... On a lighter note, my Mum loves the chocolate and fudge shop up this way. They opened for the season last week with their annual fudge sale. I decided a box of chocolates would be the perfect Mother's Day gift. I didn't say anything to her - wanted it to be a surprise. Mum was spending the weekend at my sister's house and sis said the look of glee when she opened the box and saw what was in there was just like a kid at Christmas time. Mum rations herself to 2 pieces a day. Or so she says ;) There is a not as good chocolate shop by my sister's and Mum asked her to take her there prior to my package arriving. Sis did not want to spoil the surprise so she watched as Mum loaded up on 3 and a half pounds of individually wrapped chocolates for her "stash" at home. She also took my mom to the bakery as well as the grocery store. Can you tell my mom has a sweet tooth as tall as she is wide???? Mom came home yesterday as she was having a fix it man over to do some work around the house. When she was packing her stuff, she accidentally left the box of chocolates and instead grabbed the same kind of bag but this one had some items that needed returning to the store. She realized her mistake as she was unpacking and called my sister to try and elicit some sympathy (and a long return trip to drop off the box). Sis was having none of that - said it would be cheaper for her to mail the box to Mom rather than drive there and back just to drop off a box. She reminded Mom that she had the 3 and a half pounds of chocolates from the other shop as well as half of a cake from the bakery and something else sweet that slips my mind at the moment. Mum said "yes, that's all well and good BUT nothing beats Happy's chocolates and the other stuff is all krappp in comparison".   Gotta love her. Sis assured Mom she'd wrap the box tightly and no one in the house would touch her precious candies until the next trip up... That's about it for me. I was gong to work out in the yard until it got hot but right now the weather is looking iffy. Hellos to the rest of the Worldies - catch up later. |
Annie - Can't say the same thought didn't cross my mind re the dogs left with Michelle's ex. Heehee re the ex resembling the gnomes. :D And I heartily agree with you re engineers - nerdy w/ personalities of mud. Gross generalization, I know. Yeh, that class...the extra attention resulted in extra torture. Please let there be someone else there this Sunday so as to spread it around!
|
Ok, looks like today both Annie AND Laura were typing over my head.
Annie - that's so funny that something you love (yard gnomes) reminds you of someone you don't (the ex) At least C doesn't have to fell you are doing a tribute garden :lol3: I have one of those fillings in the front for a gumline cavity - I think they called the filling a bonding and I was always having problems with it chipping shortly afterwards. Finally one dentist fixed it once and for all and haven't had an issue since. Hopefully it's the same for you - good that he only charged for one filling. Laura - darn those cheese filled pretzels  Why is that kind of stuff ALWAYS more appealing the day before weigh in???? What kind of roast did you get - tenderloin? There's no beating a good piece of meat. And shush all you people with dirty minds  Ceejay - hope you made it home safe and sound. |
HAPPY...I know, right on the gnomes and xh. When I opened the gift and saw that it was a gnome, I said to my DS, thanks for the statue of your dad. lol. I started collecting them before I was divorced so really couldn't stop myself for continuing with them even tho they look a lot like xh. My momma had a sweet tooth also. She always wanted a vanilla frappacino from Starbucks when she was in the nursing home. I always brought her one.
LAURA....the snack monster has hit me today also. I had fries from Steak n Shake. I NEVER eat fries or anything fried for that matter. Bad bad bad Annie. Good luck at WI. |
I made it home last night. I got to my destination point and saw a sign that said Jonesboro 92 miles and I went for it. Even though my back was killing me when I got home I was ready for my bed.
I'm still having some symptoms of this virus that I caught but they are subsiding. Thank God I didn't have any trouble coming home yesterday. Still resting in bed. I'll read later. |
Thanks for all the kind and supporting words!
My ex actually is a very loving doggie daddy. He really, really loves our dogs, and also his GF's dogs. Maybe it was the stress/confusion of me moving out and the GF and her two dogs moving in that contributed to the health issues. I guess we'll never know. But I wouldn't say it was due to inadequate care. He really is a good guy, and he's been very supportive and encouraging of me as I start my new life. I feel bad for him that he's lost two furry kids that he loved so much. |
Surrounded by stuff I want to get rid of. My niece is coming around tomorrow to see if there is anything she can use when she gets her new house. I've cleaned just about everything there was to clean in the lounge room and tomorrow will start on the hall and laundry, in which case niece might get some bed linen as well. Don't think there is much else in the house that I can chuck out or chuck her way.
Then it is out into the yard and clean up there. Doubt that the niece will want anything from the shed that I fancy chucking. She won't need much garden since she is a black thumb. Mouth seems to be healing well. I am amazed that there is so little pain and no swelling whatsoever. I must be doing something right. Same with the biopsy site. Michelle - sorry to hear about the dog. It's always hard when one of our furry friends goes off to the end of the rainbow bridge. Annie - more dentists. They must be the most hated people on the planet Ceejay - welcome home. Happy - loved the mum sweet tooth story. They sure can get cantankerous when they get old. Loved the bird pic the other day as well. Laura - yum on the roast and yes you are right, you do get what you pay for and I find that spending that bit extra on meat is always worthwhile. Mind you since I only eat meat about 3 times a week it really isn't the greatest burden. Mel - alarms and people unable to get into bed, along with wheels coming loose, you really live an exciting life. Okay - well my energy is done for the day. I have another busy day tomorrow and will try to get here earlier. My brain works better at the earlier part of the day and not too well at this end. |

I feel like you did ...dodn't want to get started working today!! had a laugh at the gnome!! too funny. happy....the story about you mom and the candy is reminicent of here. i tell you that she would fit right in!! roflmao yes..... the seniors think they live in a luxury highrise! this is supposed to be an apartment building and not a frassing nursing home. but the mayor has spoiled them & they use the town to replace "family". i have never seen anything like this in my life.by doing this, the real families by doing this, the real families are getting away with murder. sad. sorry to hear about the plants. the weather is nuts. a friend said it was 100 degrees in nebraska. and here i sat with the heat on in jersey:faint: nothing beats a good piece of meat no matter how you look at it:rofl: laura....a roast is my favorite! yum!!! cheese filled pretzels???omg!!! i would love to try that. but not before i weigh myself!! lololol ceejay....welcome home!! glad you made it back in one piece. hope you get some rest & the back feels better  get rid of that virus too!! michelle...i will refrain from comments i really want to make. i am just sorry for your loss and poor doppler. he probably didn't understand all the changes & so late in his life. poor little thing. have a good week at the new job. shad....g;ad the biopsy site & jaw are healing well. i would have thought both were going to be very sore and painful. getting rid of stuff is making me want to begin decluttering again!! i have a box sitting here just asking for donations!! lol now look what you've started!! and....i've had about as much excitement as i can tale for one lifetime. lololololololololol |
Good Morning Earthlings....
Walmart popcorn for breakfast...My downfall is popcorn. But loving every stinkin' carb and cal of it...lol. Got bunches accomplished last night. After work Sissy colored my hair, got home about 6:15. C was home early, of course he was, I was not. Anyway he was fishing with his buddy across the pond. I cut the front grass, sprayed for weeds, planted my flower bed in front, planted my lil rose bush Sis got me for mother's day, took the trash out for pick up today then folded towels out of the dryer, all that and in bed by 9:30, out like a light. Poof! Since I have to work late tonight, Humana telecom from Louisville is coming to install new phones but cannot do it till after 5pm. So I am taking an extra long lunch today, meeting my friend Nellie who used to work here. Then I think I will run down to Marsh and pick up my scripts after that. MELLIE....hopefully the office will not need you and you can have a day of peace. Thankful for the quiet nite. CEEG...welcome home, glad you made it safely, hope your back and other ailments feel better quickly. CHELLE...have a great day at work. SHADDIE...you junk is someone elses gold. You just never know what the neice will want. I have two closets that need cleaned out. Come on over and help yourself. HAPPY...probaby typing over my head or under my feet. LOL Have a great day chickie...and yes I caught the meat beat comment. Later girlies. |

We need to hire MELLIE to be on wheelchair patrol at Disney...read on...
According to the New York Post , some wealthy mothers in Manhattan have figured out a way to jump the lines at Disney World by hiring people who use wheelchairs. According to the report, the disabled people pretend they are members of the family who hired them so the entire group can move to the front of the line, WCPO reported. The Post says the “black-market Disney guides” cost about $130 an hour, or $1,040 for an eight-hour day. According the report, Disney allows each guest who needs a wheelchair or motorized scooter to bring up to six guests to a “more convenient entrance.” |
Morning all,
Big wildfire north of us - 8600 acres ablaze. Started last night but they feel they have it finally have it under control. It's hard to believe with all the snow we had recently that we still have a fire danger but we do. The sump pump draining water from around the foundation FINALLY stopped running very early this morning. It's been going for more than a week straight. We are in no danger but last night we could smell in the fire in the air. I did go replace my dead vegetable plants yesterday. Picked up some flowers too - read every label and selected only those that will attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Now I am eager to plant but I think I will still wait about 2 weeks just to be safe. Not replacing plants a third time. Also DH needs to expand out the garden box boards. Annie - I saw that article about Disney. The insulting thing this is that wealthy people are hiring these folks and bragging that "this is how the 1% (meaning the 1 percent of the people holding the top wealth) Do Disney". (ie. scamming a way to jump the lines). Another fine example of the continued downgrade of society as we march towards Soddom and Gommorah. I love popcorn too but saw an article on the news just the other day recommending AGAINST using microwave popcorn. Apparently the bags contain high levels of some yucky you don't want to consume it chemical. Tis ok, I was thinking of getting an air popper anyway. And for some reason they have changed out the bags and lately the popcorn is either half undone or burned black. Hope you don't have to work too late tonight. I say you should have come in after lunch instead of starting regular time. Thanks for the update on Downton Abbey - sure takes them a long time to film a short amount of episodes. Mel - hope you get an unexpected free day from the madness. Nothing like an unexpected holiday to make one smile. That and rolling over a couple of hundred dollar bills that just flew in the breeze your way. Shad - you would have a field day tossing things at my house. I could probably house and clothe a small village here. ;) Glad you are feeling better. Welcome home Ceejay. Michelle - whatever human issues you and the ex had, there was no denying that the pups were everything to both of you. Is Santa the youngest of the 3 dogs? Hi Laura  Can't stay on here long. DH was talking about taking an ATV ride today. Not really feeling up to it today and I certainly don't want to head north and breath in the smokey air. Couple of things I need to do before we go including opening up the greenhouse so that my plants don't roast. Have a good day everyone. Will check back in later... |
excuse the typos. site is wonky today. Slow and I'm getting web errors.
|
Sheesh HAPPY you sure do get a variety of things going on up there, snow, rain, critters now wildfires. Never a dull moment. Maybe head south on the ATV, stay away from the North, you will smell like a pit fire when you get back and have to shower again.
