Morning Chicks
Lovely dark & dreary morning.
Hope it stays that way. Then the bldg should be quiet!
Jen dropped Richie off in the NY airport...JFK.
Then sat in traffic for eons trying to get back home.
Poor kid was exhausted when she got here.
My boss's Mother passed away.
She will be out for a few more days.
Everyone feels badly but of course no one knows "what to do".
This place is going to Haites in a hand cart.
I am just listening and not reacting.
Told them yesterday that each one knows what to do.
This is not an excuse for a vacation... so just do the job. Geez!
I need some breakfast.
I have a hankering for some cream of wheat.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Ceejay...good for you and the note on the door.
People knock on mine too even with the note.
I hope the tummy feels better soon.
Praying the Zantac keeps working.
Try light foods and soft ones. Less to digest.
We use canned peach juice in heavy syrup.
But I think I told you that already. LOL
Just little sips every few hours.
Have a good visit with the Aunt & Uncles!!

Annie....I am so sorry to hear about Dad and thje COPD.
He must be disappointed not being able to live by you.
It's hard to find a place that is good & doesn't bleed you dry of everything you own.
Sending you guys a good thought

Laura.... glad you liked the movie. I know the kids will too.
They are hungry for Robert Downey. Love Sherlock
Everyone is talking about Thor now. Hope it's a good one.
Hope that BF's Mom is feeling better too.
I should think about a case for this phone.
Right now it's in a "furry" leopard print PDA case!!
It hangs on the front of my chair.
The seniors are loving it. Very stylish they say

Happy....reading your post I was holding my breath.
MASSIVE BEARS!!! YIKES!!
Omg....maybe I will stay in the city!!
Not sure I have a chair fast enough to outrun those suckers!!
Loved the tale of the hummingbird.
Must be wonderful to watch!
Yes jolly was a typo ROFLMAOFF!!!
There were dozens I think!
Praying for the day I get the new chair!!!
No one even called me yet. OR Jen about hers!

Michelle...glad the dinner went ok.
Good luck with this big project.
Hope the interview goes well and you can be closer to your sister!!

Shad....I am relieved to hear about Chris.
Sending her a healing thought anyway
Congrats on the weightloss.
Must be all those Dr appts and gardening!!!!
When will you know about the biopsy??
Go to NZ and kiss Sophia for me!!!
Glad the jaw isn't giving you fits.
Hope it stays that way!!
Loved the STAY CALM & TGIF!!!
Hope the Project with M will work out.
Something new to stick your toes in the water & test!! LOL

Mel
It's dark and gloomy here today as well. Makes me want to sleep.

--------
Decided to take my blood pressure this morning, 110/74 pulse 74. All this rest is paying off big time.
Going to contact the guy who is supposed to be mowing the lawn to see when he's going to do it.

Hi everyone,

Looks like gloom and rain for the next few days. Yesterday we went to what looked like it was going to be a good fish fry/buffet at the casino. Learning a lesson from the Mother's Day fiasco, this time we arrived at 4 when it was supposed to open. This time too they were holding it in the much bigger convention room instead of the smaller buffet seating area so we thought, no problem where we arrived to a good sized line of people waiting outside. Everyone was rather amenable as the clock ticked past 4pm with no sign of movement. A few people got tired of waiting and left. Around 4:20 DH went to see what was going on. The security guard said they had a "few glitches" and were still bringing food into the banquet room. Finally they opened the doors at 4:45 - 45 minutes past when it should have been open. It took another 30 minutes to get through the line to pay and have our club card credited with $10 (for playing in the casino technically making dinner 5 bucks). We were seated at long tables, with other people, kind of reminded me of being at a bad wedding when the only people you know are the bride and groom and they are busy doing other things. By the time we got seated there must have been about 150 people ahead of us so the serving pans were emptying out although they were trying very hard to fill them. I don't think they learned much from the overflow crowd they had on Mother's Day and perhaps they just don't have the capability for the kitchen to keep up with the amount of food and timeliness needed to cook for such a big number of people. There were alot of people in line behind us so I'm glad we went sooner than later. The fish was decent - 1 fried version and 3 baked versions (yay for me on the baked and broiled stuff). I liked all the vegetables and most of my meal was fish and veggies to not too unhealthy. DH had fried chicken he said was good although the breading was more wet than crisp. He had jalapeno cheese biscuits he liked also. Since he is a meat and potatoes person, he was happy with his biscuits, potatoes au gratin and meats/fish. It wasn't a bad meal but not as tasty as we had on Mother's Day. That coupled with the overly long wait in line, the wait for them to refill pans of food and the seating arrangements - we won't be back for that. I think they'd be much better off taking reservations at the buffet and just improving the food in there. There were a lot of people in line and we have a ton of seniors up this way - there were more than a few people who would not have been able to stand as long as we did. Afterwards we went into the casino for a while - it was crowded and the machines were not paying off so we left shortly afterwards. DH saw the bear on the back of the property last night but was unable to get a picture. We have taken everything away so there's nothing for him to eat so hopefully he moves on.

I'm just going to focus on housework this weekend. We have a chill next week mid week so too soon to plant yet though the days are warming up.

Ceejay - glad you are feeling better. I guess I'm not the only one who missed the lemons and tomatoes - I even went back a few pages and looked.

Mel - so Jen has had to make the big leap and get a chair of her own? Sad day I bet Hope you enjoyed that cream of wheat - you'd probably like grits too. I'm very proud of you for not taking the bait in the office and stepping in while the boss is out. They need to deal with their own stuff.

Shad - do you scramble up the eggs in the pie? It does sounds alot like quiche. Sounds yummy too. Hope you had a productive day yesterday and can move on to some fun things.

So Michelle - taking a page from the writing classes I just finished - what is it that you imagine that would make you feel "settled in". Many of the exercises like this that they gave us are really beneficial.

Guess I'd better get busy here - hellos to Laura and Annie - have a good weekend everyone.

I went to the animal fair,
The birds and the beasts were there,
The little raccoon by the light of the moon
Was combing his auburn hair
The monkey he got drunk
And sat on the elephant's trunk
The elephant sneezed and went down on his knees
And what became of the monk?...the monk....the monk....the monk

Morning all,
Dawn is just breaking here but I decided to get up and get on with the day and get this post done so that as soon as it gets light enough I can start doing physical stuff without the light on. Miss Puss has had her breakfast biscuits and decided to go back to bed. Lazy cat. Sleeps 23 hours out of 24 more or less unless she decides to supervise what is going on in the garden or complain that by rearranging the linen cupboard I have upset her secret bedding arrangements.
Another busy day here today and hopefully it will be easier than yesterday when foul swearing was the order of the day. I needed to change the fly screen on the toilet window. It is only a tiny window. I though it would take me around 1 hour tops. Yes right. I ended up having to take the whole frame apart and put it back together again. Naturally enough the aluminium screen I bought which was the heaviest grade available did not want to stay where it was put, the glass part then moved into denial as well and would not fit back into the frame in its rubber mounts and the swearing got worse and louder. Finally having wedged part of the frame in a vice, I got it back to together bit by bit, even though I ruined a couple of screws and had to turn the rubber mounting upside down. If I ever have to do this again, the entire window and frame will come out and I will buy a new one regardless of the cost. I broke a thumbnail and a fingernail and have countless nicks and scratches on my fingers from the aluminium screening. Who knew that the bloody stuff frays when you bend it. Any flies that get through that screen will be severely dealt with! For all the other screens I use the normal fibreglass or plastic because they don't actually fit into the window frame and it is easy to rip out the screening and replace. Enough whinging about my 4 hour job that should have taken less than one.

Happy - No I don't scramble the eggs. If I did it would be quiche. It's nice to get a hunk of yolk at times especially if you manage to cut it and see the yolks along with the bacon top and bottom and some green things - makes a pretty enough picture.
Sorry to hear that the casino hasn't got it's butt into gear and gotten organised. Sounds to me like there is a definite need for something like this in town and it could be a great money spinner, however if the food is not plentiful enough and the service inadequate the population will stay away in droves and another good idea will bite the dust.
My plants are in and looking good so far. Nearly time to give them a burst of liquid seaweed tonic to kick them along again. Hope yours get there shortly, you have such a short growing season as it is.

Mel - Must have missed the bit about Jen and a chair. I thought I had heard mention of a golf buggy thing. Poor Jen, driving through the NYC traffic to take Richie to the airport. Such a tiny girl.
Sorry to hear of the death in the family. Hope it means a bigger cheque for you.

Ceejay - there is nothing better for your health than a balance of physical work, rest and recreation and good food and water. The fact that we have to earn a living and are expected to go above and beyond the terms of the job takes away that balance. That's why I like to have long breaks between jobs. Good going on the blood pressure. Last time mine was taken it was 120 over 80 and that was during all the medical procedures happening.

The sun has arisen, the cat is outside digging holes!!!! It's time to get moving. No exercise today - rest day and my legs need it. I've gone back to the run walk jog training and doing quite well which must mean that the knee is back to almost normal. I still have a bit of a problem locking the knee - there is pressure there. I may have to mention it to my doc next week when I go to get the biopsy report and have one lot of stitches taken out. Can hardly wait.
For those of you waiting to get out into the fresh air, countryside and beyond I've attached a picture of Milford Sound in New Zealand where you can walk, tramp, boat, fish, sightsee and dream to your hearts content and you may never see another soul for the entire day - even a noisy American tourist.

Good Morning Chicas . Ole' Today!!

Two quiet nights in a row.
Be still my foolish heart!!
I can hardly believe it myself.

When I found this graphic,
For some reason it reminded me of Sundays after church.
We would all be lounging around reading the Sunday news.
Loved the comics.

Nothing new here. Just resting.
Jen bought some weekend treats and we chatted.
Her staying home & sending Richie was a great idea.
She is having a lovely Jenny-day weekend
A trip to the library and then home for nails, hair and eating goodies while wearing jammies.
A real girly weekend. But I don't want to weigh in today!!!

Hope you gals have a great day!

Ceejay....congrats on the blood pressure!!
Cheering for you over here
That's great news. Hope it stays down now.
Now I want to sleep today too....more rainy weather.
I am getting positively lazy!

Shad......waving back to you on your diagonal right!!!
I love the photo. Wish we were all there on vacation!
what a wonderful place to be....where no one else is!!
I know...wishful thinking on my part!! But a gal can dream.
You are right...Jen is getting a scooter....not a chair.
I must have typed something wrong last post.
It's to get around in the country & also to run down the street to the local shop in the heat.
Helps to avoid some of these falls.
Although most of them are in the FRASSING HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cracked up over the screen.
Sorry. Yes your friend here laughed at the 4 hour job.
Sounds like something the seniors would get me involved in
Sorry to hear about all the boo boos.
\you'll be needing a lot of plasters for that!!
Hope your garden produces tons of fresh veggies.
Just thinking of "fresh" makes me hungry for a big green salad.

Happy....what a wait for food. I hate that when you are hungry.
Once I get my mind set to eat...gimme the frassing food!!!
Hope you find places that take reservations!! LOL
Jen is getting a scooter. NOT a chair.
As I told Miss Shad, I must have said something wrong in my other post.
Sorry for the confusion!!
Give that bear a pass to go onto your neighbors yard.
Maybe better eats are over there!!!!

Good Sunday Morning Chicks,

Was supposed to rain today but cloudy right now so I'm going to water my veggie plants and plant some of my flowers. We have 3 hummingbirds - 2 boys and a girl and one fat boy chases everyone away from "his" feeder so I made more juice today and will be setting out a second one. Lots of birdies singing outside - when you stop and listen it's really quite noisy out there

Mel - I think you commented something about your new chair "and Jen's" and we assumed she is getting one too. Good going on the scooter, hope it will help at least to the store. Don't need her falling as she had no padding to protect her. She is welcome to some of mine if only I can figure out how to get it off I liked your "smiley plaster" Hope you have a quiet jammie day.

Shad - loved the picture of NZ - sooo pretty. Sorry to hear about the window ordeal. I would have given up long before that. Good on yah for persevering with the job. You and DH can be the maintenance people at the commune. Liquid seaweed tonic, eh? I will have to look into it. We have this Miracle Gro stuff that is big out this way but I read on some of the gardening sites that while it's a good fertilizer, in some cases with the tomatoes it pushes out more green and branches and does not necessarily mean bigger tomatoes or more blossoms. I have several plants in the greenhouse that have blossoms on them, including 1 container plant which I was pot today. I hope they do well as I do love my tomatoes. I'm already harvesting some herbs and lettuces.

I guess it's just the 3 of us this morning. Hope everyone's having a good Sunday. I'm going to get something in my tummy and go out and water and plant. Have a good one...

Afternoon all. Quick hello. Yesterday was breakfast out, circuit class, hair appt, bakery, thrift shop, weeding, dog walk, reading/tv, dinner & somewhere in there a load of laundry. Today was brkf/tea, cancelled kettlebell class (which I didn't learn about til I got there & the instructor said they phoned about but bf says he didn't get any such call- whatever), yardwork, laundry & lunch. Think I'll go to the home improvement joint & make a return & buy some flowers to plant. Then it'll be a dog walk. Prolly won't plant today, dont feel like showering again. So maybe skip the flowers since the next several days are supposed to be rainy. Maybe just grocery shop jnstead. Off to do something.

Back home from the uncles. It was a good week end.

Happy
Think the lemons and tomatoes were only mentioned in my blog.
I'm sending you some of this warm air. It's almost hot in Arkansas today.

Mel
Glad things have quieted down. Maybe today will be quiet again.

Shad
That's a good bp reading. Wish mine would stay that low but I doubt it.

Tomorrow is another day but I'll have to be back at work. UGH. All good things must come to an end.
The guys still haven't come to mow the lawn. May have to get out there and do it myself. But not today, IT's to HOT.

Morning all,
Nothing like a good sunrise to get the day started. The sky was just beautiful when I went out for my exercise. However it is very cool out there. Actually not warm in here either just 16C about 60F. Not at all sure that it will warm up much either. Better get moving to keep warm.

Happy - glad you liked the picture of Milford Sound. I'll find another quiet spot for you shortly. Actually even better, I will find you a picture of the stars over Wellington. It's a cracker.
Glad to hear that the hummingbirds are back even it there is only three and Fat Albert is taking charge of the feeder.
The seaweed stuff is a tonic not a fertiliser. You need to check whether the fertiliser is for leaf growth or fruit growth. They both need different minerals and trace elements. I can't remember which is which but there's nitrogen and potassium and one is for leaves and the other for fruit.

Mel - very mean of you to laugh at my predicament with that frassing window. DS2 is also laughing at me. However after a short demo of how slippery and nasty that stuff is, he is changing his mind. So Jen is going on a scooter. Woo hoo. Danger on the pavements ahead.

Laura - what a busy weekend you have had. You'll be going back to the office for a rest. When you take doggy for a walk, how far do you walk?

Anyway, time to get off here and get on with the linen cupboard, laundry, and floor washing. I'll attach the photo of Wellington. This is the narrative from the photographer.

A thick fog rolled into Wellington last night - it was a pretty spectacular sight especially with the perfectly clear skies and The Milky Way high above in the night sky.
markg | photo - markg.com.au

The other photos are sunrise this morning at my place.

Catch you all later.

Looks like everyone was to and fro this weekend. We got a lot accomplished this weekend.

Weeds out of the garden, tilled, added dirt and poo, re-tilled and planted! So happy that is done. Cut the grass, moved the wood pile to a better location. Dried out the fire pit. Burnt a log or two. Sprayed for weeds, pulled some weeds around some sort of electricial box in the side yard, about 4 x 4 feet wide and 3ft tall. Services the neighborhood I suppose. Re-did the decor stones across the front of both gardens. Re-injured my broken two, there is no chance in H*LL I will be able to get shoes on for a while, it even hurt to drive (gas pedal) this morning. Yesterday was perfect, sunny and a bit warm 86 degrees, but I will take it. Still need to plant my cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, have to get seeds yet. Will do that tonight.

Took Miss Sass to the vet on Saturday morning. She has the equivalent to pink eye in one eye. Drops in that eye twice a day for a week. God love her, she is so passive, just let's me do anything. Lil turd will not stay out of the garden so will have to get some sort of fencing around it to keep her out. She has come into the house with a snout covered with dirt the last couple of times.

Hope everyone has a marvelous day. Today is my Tuesday, taking Friday off to babysit lil man. The kids are going to carb day at the Indy 500 track. Will have lil man Thursday nite, Friday, Friday nite, Saturday morning and then again on SUnday as they go to the race also.

Will come back later today when I get a breather.

Love yas

Happy Monday ladies -

Had a great weekend. It was gorgeous both days. On Saturday, I ran some errands, including going to the library to get a library card (and also a few books). Yesterday, Santa went to the groomer in the morning. He came out looking better than he did, but I think I could've done a better job than the groomer. The woman said she'd never groomed a Schnauzer before (and you couldn't tell me this when I made the appointment or dropped him off?). I'm hoping that I can either get him in to see the groomer we used to go to when we lived here (who books up many weeks in advance), or just learn it myself.

Dinner with my friends last night was great! It was so wonderful to see them again. Terrific ladies, great conversation and yummy food...doesn't get any better than that!!

===========================

Annie - So sorry to hear about re-injuring your toe! Ouch!! You get more done in a weekend than I get done in a month! I get tired just reading it! So nice that you'll have so much time with the lil man this weekend!!

Mel - How silly that the woman denied opening the window when she was sitting right there. I hope you have a quiet week without the boss around. There will be other staff to take care of this during the week, right? I'm so glad to hear Jen's getting a scooter. It will be a lot easier for her to get around.

Shad - The photos are GORGEOUS!! Just beautiful!! The Wellington photo is so cool! And like Mel said, the sunrise photos are like fire in the sky! The Milford Sound photo is so beautiful and serene. Really reminds me of something out of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy which I know was filmed in New Zealand. I do not envy you replacing the screens. I've never done it, but I saw my ex do that and it's not an easy job.

Ceejay - Glad you had a good time at the uncles! I hope work is going well for you.

Laura - You and Annie...I get worn out just reading about your weekends! You truly are the exercise

Happy - Shad is right about the fertilizers. Some are better for greenery and branches, and not as good for the actual fruit of the plant. I think Miracle Gro has a variety for vegetables or specifically tomatoes. Not sure though. There are lots of fertilizers that are specific for veggies.

Well, back to work for me.

Much love and many hugs,
