Just lost my long post to everyone! so here we go again...
Just wanted to let you all know my dad was diagnoised with Cancer on Thursday. It's in the stomach, don't know any more as far as stage etc. He is going in for Cat/Pet scan on Tuesday. Please keep him in your prayers. Mitchelle - You are a much Stronger woman than me. I don't know if I would of been able to toast with the man. But I will toast to you... May 2013 bring you all the Happiness and Love you deserve! Annie - You are a busy woman..How is your father doing? Happy - What did you get diagnoised with? I have tendonitis in both feet. Wearing that boot has really helped and I also ice my heels every night for about 20 minutes each foot, 2 to 3 times each foot. Ceejay - Happy 20th Anniversay. I too don't like when my company does the presentations, but that is a great accomplishment these days. Wish they gave better gifts.. Laura - I love going to thrift stores. You never know what you will find. Do you all have a 1/2 price book store? We have them here and you can take your books and sell back to them. I hope you enjoyed your sunshine day! Mel - great job on the weight loss. I know a few people on the nutrisystem and they have done great. I think any program works, whether it be nutrisystem, Jenny Criag or WW, it just having to have the mindset that this is it and follow the program. You can do it.. Shad - Great news on the job. Would you be working from your home or away. You have so much experience with training and you see the pitfalls or the areas that sometimes get overlooked. I think you would do a great job on setting this up. I hope I didn't miss anyone! |
Evening all,
Just got back from a swim. 14 lengths of the pool, cramp in my toes and puffing like a whale. Really have to get fitter than this. Patty - so sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope he has good treatment and a good prognosis. Such a horrid disease. If I take up this job, I will mostly be working from home. It will make a big change. It is a bit of a risk and a challenge but Mick and his gang of three seem to think their is a niche and it will work. It probably will if they do their homework properly and they seem to be. Michelle - you seem to be seeing and doing more things with the ex than previously. Good to have friendship there after the marriage has passed. Happy - glad to hear that you won a few bucks at the pokies. I know what you mean about stinking. I had to stand next to a woman at a meeting the other day and she had been smoking. What a pong. Guess we used to smell like that when we smoked as well. Hope the foot comes rights soon. As for the boat, a friend of mine said (and I quote) 'the best day of my life when I bought that boat - second best day was when I sold it.' Personally if you can get year round use out of it and are prepared for that, then okay. But if not, why tie up the savings. Why not rent one when you need it. This thing is performing badly. Back shortly. Post before lose. |

Good Morning All....
We went to our VD lunch yesterday and it was FAB! Brought at least 1/3 of it home for left overs. We made it to the paint store to get the paint to paint the inside of Cs house. Dropped it by there. Chris is going to do the painting as C and I would never have enough time to paint the entire inside of his house. Chris does these things as side jobs to add to their income. We also stopped by Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get a twin mattress pad for dad's bed. His bed is all put together with maroon and green plaid comforter etc. Now I just need to get a small desk for his computer, he is bringing the remainder for his room, dresser, TV, night stand, computer chair and his dvd player. He will have his bedroom/living room in one room. We went by dad's to visit. He just got Netflix on his TV so I got to watch episode 1 of the first season of Downtown Abbey...I am hooked. Went home to reserve on line at the library and it said my library card was expired. Then went on Amazon and ordered season 1 for 16.00 will have it in a few days. MELLIE...Happy Prezzie Day to you too. Altho I have to work today. Blah! Trying not to miss any days so I can build up my PTO time. I am at about 80 hours right now. When I come and clean for you...you will have to sit quietly in the corner or leave the apartment, I do 50 things at once and cannot have road bumps in my way. Sassy gladly stays outside now when I clean. lol Oh and FYI I also bought my first yoga dvd (beginners) on Amazon, it should be here in a few days. Hopefully I will put it to use... SHADDIE...shue weee, 14 lengths in the pool, I could probably only do that in the baby pool. lol. I am hoping when warmer weather gets here I will be motivated to get my b*tt out and move a bit more. We have a couple of outside projects to do so that helps. CEEG...ok on the shakes but just let me know if you need help in getting them. I am sure they have them around Indy. Glad you are finally getting better. A 20 year pin, congrats!! I was at RCA/GE/Thomson for 23 years and all I got was the door hitting me in the a$$. PATTY...so sorry to hear about your dad. Hopefully the docs can come up with a sure fire get well plan for dad. My dad is doing ok, he will be moving in with us in a couple of months. CHELLE...sounds like you had an enjoyable weekend. Good for you. More power to you with the friend moving in with you. When Jan moved in with me it was a bit stressful. Even tho she was a clean aholic like me, she did smoke, outside, but I could still smell it on her clothes and bedding. Blah. HAPPY...oh pontoon boats are so fun, especially if you take a few friends with you and make it a party. They are such a relaxing good time. Glad you got some "HAPPY" time with DH was away. Even if I don't accomplish anything, I enjoy me time. LAURA...mmmm chai tea latte' and a book for a Sunday afternoon. That sounds blissful to me. Have you tried the chai tea latte's from Starbucks with non-fat milk? They are soooooo good. What a bargain you got on your thrift store catch. Good for you!! Guess I had better start packing up my desk, only 3 days till move day. Have a marvelous Monday all. Love and hugs |
Laura
You would blend right in at my sister's. She loves Chia tea. Patty So sorry to hear about your dad's cancer. Hope they have a good prognosis and treatment. Annie I'll keep you in mind if I can't find those shakes. I found them at Kroger in Jonesboro but the one in Blytheville didn't have them. Not quiet as big of a store. Is Curtis putting his house on the market? Shad This sounds like a good job for you. Good for you in getting in the pool. Mel Yes it waas quiet yesterday at work. But the phone is ringing to much this morning. The light office will be taking over soon. Happy I would love to have gotten your reward of 20,000 dollars. I'd retire for sure. Sounds like you had fun at the casino. The enviroment is one of the reason's I don't like to go. Don't think my sinuses could handle that. Michelle I'm glad you had a good week end. Hope things work out if the friend moves in with you. Some times that is not a good idea. ------- I'm still improving but I think all the antibiotics I've been taking has done a number on my stomach. My stomach was giving me fits last night. But that is better this morning. I'm going to start taking one per day instead of two per day. However, the sinus infection is still there. I asked my boss this morning if he would pick up my pin for me this afternoon and he said he would. I don't want to go--I still don't feel 100% either Forgot to mention that I watched part of Downton Abbey last night on PBS. I could get involved in this. Love the era. |
Hi ladies,
I'm going to be more organized. That is my goal for today. Laundry, change the bedclothes, clean out the refrigerator and do t house much while the craziness of race week is upon us in town. Patty - I am so very sorry to hear that about your dad  I hope they caught it early, is not widespread and he has an excellent chance for recovery. Healing prayers for him and strength for you. Ceejay - ahhhh - I see that you got out of the big presentation. Good for you. Antibiotics like anti inflamatories are very hard on the tummy. Yogurt should be prescribed with both. Eat lightly and let it rest up a bit. Alright girls, now you have me curious about Downtown Abbey. I guess I will have to check it out although I was not a fan of Upstairs, Downstairs or the show about the 2 brash friends - Patsy and the other one with the bouffant hairdo? Absolutely Fabulous??? Perhaps I just don't get British thinking. I was mad because I taped my favorite show - the Amazing Race because I was cleaning up the kitchen when it started. I watched Once Upon a Time first (my second favorite show) and when I went to the Amazing Race, the tv station started it 5 minutes late and I missed the end of the show. CBS does that ALL THE TIME to this show. Really makes me annoyed. Sorry - I got distracted. Annie does this mean you are moving offices this week? Are you going to wait to the last minute to see if they change their minds again? Sounds like things are nearly ready for Dad. Guess he will be moving in sooner even if bro is staying at the house?? I got a new yoga DVD too - if you start yours, I will open mine, ok? :o Mel - we can't have your wheelchair siezing up in the cold weather. Will have to figure out something for you. If we get the pontoon boat you could just wheel onboard. That is the debate about the fishing boat (more practical) or the pontoon - much easier to just walk on to the pontoon boat. Don't worry, we will just roll with it (no pun intended) and make sure you keep up with us. If you have radiator heat I guess that means it's not so dry by you? No shocking events either  guess there's enough static in your building without the electrical kind  Is it all presidents day now or are we still just celebrating Lincoln and Washington's birthdays? Not one of those high holidays ;) I guess that means no mail today. :( Shad - when thinking about the stink of the ciggies, I too thought - gee used to smell like that all the time too but people often told me that I didn't smell like a smoker although I know - especially in the winter - that I did. DH is on the fence about the boat. He'd like to go fishing - we have some docks here but you catch better fish out in the middle of the lake. We could rent a boat but it's about $150 each time for 4 hours so that gets pricey after a while. The cousin has a "fishing" boat but it's basically just a shell of a boat with a bench - that would kill DH's back. We'll see. Not jumping into anything immediately. I do agree that we moved here to enjoy the place and if fishing is one of the enjoyment things, we should at least consider the possibilities. After all we are spending a fair dollar feeding the animals right now. Hope things work out with the new venture. Would be nice if you were based close to home all the time. Congrats on 14 lengths of the pool. Nice workout there! Michelle - nice of you to offer your friend a place to stay. As you say if she comes fine, if not you offered. Hope you had a nice weekend. Laura - chai lattes. Yum. Wish there was a Starbucks nearby. Enjoy one or two for me. Ok, I'm going to go get busy now. Have a good day all. |
Yoko Ono turns 80 today. Happy Birthday Yoko. Geez that don't seem right. Are we secretly getting old and not realizing it? ;)
|
HAPPY.....well, I have not started packing yet. I can pack my office in about an hour, no need to rush it. lol Sam brought lil man and Ainsley to have lunch with me. We went to TGI Fridays, I had salad and french onion soup. YUM. Lil man ate half of Ainsley's cheeseburger and a bread stick, then Sam fed him bananas and a glass of milk. Ainsley chose orange slices over french fries, good girl. My bro and wife are probably going to rent Cs house from us. So once we get Cs house all ready, they move to Cs house, then dad will move in with us and we will put his house on the market. So basically it boils down to when we have Cs house ready to go...evil laugh here....may delay it....ba hahaha.
CEEG...yes antibiotics can play havoc on the tummy and the intestines. Hope you get better and it doesn't linger too long. I used to have really bad sinus infections when I was a kid. My mom never took me to the doc for them either. She just said they were colds but now that I look back on it, I know better. And being allergic to cig smoke, and my dad smoking 3+ packs a day in the house, it is no wonder I had problems all the time when a kid. He quit smoking when I was 16, too late damage done! Gotta get... |
Happy
Yes, I agree that some one should tell you to eat some kind of dairy when you take an antibiotic. My boss friend told me that he would bring the pin to me tomorrow. Wow a pontoon boat would be great. Annie I didn't go to the doctor that much either when I was younger and I had what mom considered a cold every time the wind blew. Now that I'm older the doctor tells me what to watch for. That will be great that your brother can moves into C's house. |
Hi ladies -
Sorry I'm so far behind on personals. And we just found out today that the company is cracking down on personal internet use during work hours. :( A friend of mine from CA is arriving tomorrow. I don't have any vacation time yet, so they are going to have to entertain themselves during the day while I'm at work. I'm just letting y'all know cuz my posts might be shorter than normal for the next week or so. After reading all your posts, I too am hoping that my friend who is divorcing her husband moves in with one of her other friends. She is a different friend than the one from CA who is just coming for a visit. Mel - Congrats on all the weight loss success you're having with Nutrisystem! I'm glad you checked with the doc first. And that's fantastic about the rosacea going into remission! Happy - I checked the weather and if you haven't gotten snow yet, it looks like you'll get some this week - as will we unfortunately. I'm so tired of winter! Today we had temps in the 40s. It was wonderful! And tomorrow back to the teens. :brr: I hope your DH's stress level comes down. The upcoming procedure has gotta weigh so heavily on his mind. Sending lots of :goodvibes: to both of you. Given the crowds I've heard the Berkie draws, I would definitely avoid town if possible. Annie - Dang, girlfriend...just reading about your Saturday exhausted me! :faint: As for getting along with my ex, we both had a hand in the demise of our marriage. And he and I will be happier if we get on with our lives separately. I need to live in CA closer to my family, and he doesn't want to move back. So this is what's best for both of us. Shad - Thanks for the kind words about seizing the day, etc. :) Carpe diem! Or Carpe carp (seize the fish!)! Your office is moving to the wilderness? And unsafe wilderness at that! :yikes: Glad you get to use the office car. That training gig with your friends consulting company sounds really good. I hope it pans out. well done on doing 14 lengths of the pool! That's way more than I can do. I can do about 4 lengths and then the asthma kicks in. :( Ceejay - Congrats on your 20 year award! 20 years is an impressive accomplishment - too bad you don't get more than a pin, but when I used to work for a city government...they were very reluctant to give big awards because it was taxpayer money. But :bravo: on such a long career! Patty - I'm so very sorry to hear of your dad's diagnosis! I'll keep him in my prayers. Sending you much love, hugs and prayers too. Thanks for all your support and your kind words. Laura - wow! What great bargains you found at the thrift store! I wish I could get such great deals. Okay...all this talk of Downton...I'm gonna have to start watching it. Just what I need...another show to get hooked on! Gonna sign off for now. Much love to all, |
Lunch time - yeee haaaa. Not that I am hungry. More cross. More than that, grumpy probably describes it better.
Now I have whinged and carried on about this job - highest paid chauffeur, chief cleaner upper of most peoples messes, no straight job, no deadlines, no nothing. So for some reason, they have said that they will extend our contracts for 1 more month until they get the new regime settled. So I haven't signed. I mean why would I sign up for more of the same. I have really only done about 4 full days of work since I have been here. Now they are telling WBS (consulting company that sent me here) that they really, really want me to stay. Why? is the first question. I got this email - Joy, apologies up front for being a pain but…….I am getting a little pressure from HTG re confirmation of your contract ( they really want you !) , any chance you could confirm back to me by COB today ? To which I replied: They need to come up with a plan for me to work with. I can not carry on drifting from day to day as the chauffeur, doing help desk, and checking out the local talent. The only thing I have done of any note here is to help Tracey implement the timesheet module and write a couple of pieces of documentation. There is more of that coming up (if Anne doesn’t put it into the future basket) but it still won’t keep me busy 8.00 hours per day. So give me a purpose and I might stay. So he said: Joy, I am happy to get involved in your day to day tasks but….I suggest that is a conversation between you and xxxxxxxx? Do you want me to have the conversation with her ?? So I said: I’ve had this conversation with her. I’ve asked for a resolution to shift across to training and documentation. I can’t get an answer. And she is not getting back to me. I do realise she has other stuff on her plate but this is getting ridiculous. So if you can get something out of someone – anyone – outlining some sort of job or jobs with a deadline/ end date/ resolution factor then I am happy for you to talk to her. Now maybe I am being stupid, maybe I am crazy, maybe I am out of touch, or date, or just plain old bloody fashioned, but I believe in giving value for money. Here I am being overpaid, put up in a lovely apartment with a cleaner, gym and swimming pool at my beck and call, given a car to get from one place to another, and getting the majority of my expenses paid - for doing nothing? Is it only me that sees something wrong with this picture? Sorry rant over and so I see is my lunchbreak. I'll be back after tonights swim when I cool down and feel more rational. |
Joy - yay to you for having integrity and morals and standing your ground. And after dealing with a place in which I needed co-operation and feedback to do my job and getting neither, I totally agree that certain things need to change. I would be more eager to employ my skills as a trainer rather than chauffer and general go to grunt. Stand your ground. What's another 30 days if they cut you loose early? Too often we just give up and give in (I call it the "you made me be this way syndrome"). Somebody's got to show them a better way of thinking. I'm sure the agency is also thinking if you walk, they lose money too although from what you've said, they do seem to care about their contractors.
