Laura - It sounds like you have a wonderful b'day planned!! I'm so happy for you!! Sounds like a perfect kind of day. :)
Happy - The insurance with my new job is fantastic!! If we go to any of its affiliated hospitals or clinics, the combined deductible for the two of us is only $600, and after that they pay 90% !! Wooo Hooo! Unfortunately it doesn't kick in for us until Sept. 1, and DH couldn't wait that long to get sick again. :( Bummer that the storms that went south of you didn't get far enough south to hit us. |
Just a quick post to say that DH does NOT have to go to the hospital! :yay: The pulmonologist called him back and said that the tests they ran came back positive for rhinovirus and a slight bacterial infection...but negative for fungal infection! :yay:  :yay: And the prescriptions he's already taking will ease his symptoms and clear out the bacteria soon. The doc said it was good that he stayed home today due to the heat, humidity and his difficulty breathing. If the heat/humidity drop as expected by tomorrow, he might be able to go to work. :)

Helping out mother nature today. I'm actually watering the front lawn. It's brown.
Did a few errands this morning. While I was in Walmart the car got to a 113 degree's on the inside. Opened the window to let out some air and it dropped to 105. That's toooooo hot. We're supposed to get rain on Sunday and Monday and then a cool down to the low 90's Laura Happy Birthday. :balloons: |

Sis is not on the pill or taking any other precautions. It will just be a matter of time. LIL man is still so lil. Got to dad's house at 9 am. Got the rock ring decoragion done by 10:30 am. He wanted to buy lunch soe went to Subway and picked up some lunch. Was off by 1 pm to sissy's to visit and see lil manl. Ainsley was ther too so got a double treat. Got home around 3, my man was home at 3:45 pm today. Dinner was simple. Grilled BBQ chicken on the grill. Grilled yellow zuchinni on the grill and greebeans. He is now reasting on the couch watching one of his shows and I am posting and doing laundry. YEAH.... CEEG....I am NOT watering, don't car if grass is green or brown. I do not have to cut grass when it is dead which makes me very happy...I do water my veggie and flower gardens however. MELLIE...hope your back is feeling better...it sucks. Backs out, we are out. Not much else to post. Got to get to watering my gardens. Have a marvelous day tomorrow/night. Hey to all the worldlies....loves and hugs. |

|
Michelle,
Good news concerning dh's health. Annie Oh my, You must be relieved about Sissy not being preggers. Dinner sounds good. Mel Sounds like you need a rolling pin when the doctor comes back for a visit. Tell him no more bad diagnosis for you. |
Friday at last. Thank the heavens or who ever got me through the week. It isn't finished yet tho. I still have weekend support to do but I don't have to be at either mine all the time. Only when they have a problem.
Haven't got through all the posts yet. Will write a full report tomorrow http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...ove-my-job.jpg |

UP HERE THE REAKING PINT SHOULD BE SUNDAY. TOMORROW WILL BE THE WORST SO FAR.:flame: |
Quick check in to say hi! I had to take DH's truck to work today as my brakes are BAD. I suggested we take it to the repair place, but since our honest mechanic sold his business to some weasels, DH doesn't trust them. He said he could replace the brakes this weekend if I help him.
Annie - I'm so glad Sam's not pregnant. That would've just been too hard on them, especially if Chris is gun-shy about marriage. I haven't started my new job yet...I start a week from Monday...but I'm still super thrilled!! Current job would be okay if it weren't for the dang commute. Anyway, just 5 more work days after today and I'll be leaving this long commute behind and starting the dream job. BTW, we got the box of books and magazines yesterday! DMIL was thrilled. She says getting your boxes is like "that holiday in December that shall not be named when we're in July". LOL !! Thanks mucho! Mel - Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. I hope that eases up soon. Big hugs to all! Stay cool sistas! Much love, Michelle |
Hidee Ho My worldlie sistas.......
Was completely pooped by 9 pm. C and went to bed, unfortunately, of course I woke up at 1 am and couldn't sleep...good think I like Reba as I watched about 6 episodes. Went and got into bed when C left for work at 4:30. Fell asleep around 5:30 and woke up at 7:30. Been to Aldi's and Walmart. Getting ready to head to Kroger to get beef and pork. Walmart selections on meat suck. And over priced. May watch lil man tonight or tomrorrow nite as Chris roommate from college is coming to town. They are going to dinner and drinks. I will keep monkey overnight. Kind of hoping for tomorrow night. Saturday morning am going to see Magic Mike with bf, Tami. It is not til 11:20, so sis should be able to pick up lil man before I need to leave. Today I am going to spray around the house for bugs, mostly the d*mn ants. Then putting ant spikes around the house. That should detour them a bit. Also need to harvest my 4th batch of lettuce/spinach. Will get that all done today. It is so dang hot today 104 out there today. Next week is supposed to be 80s. CHELLE...you are welcome for the magic box of goodies. I try to save my books but like I mentioned before I do not read as much in the summer. Five days til dream job. YEAH!! MELLIE....Wish you lived near, then I would have someone more I could cook, clean and bring SUBWAY too...lol. We would certainly have soooooo much fun and laugh our arses off. MELLIE...as the doc about Cymbalta....not only does it cure head issues but also gives great relief to aches and pains. Amazing lil pill. Check into it. SHADLET...here is the bright side to your work. At least there is an end to that one and you can move on to the next job.. Me however, stuck in the same ole job unless I want to put serious effort into looking for another. Don't have the energy for that. CEEG...what chu got going on this weekend? Maybe staying home and relaxing. LAURA....you are having the heat as we are...only you are getting a bit of rain...we are not. Ground is cracking, grass is green and like Jimmy crack corn, I don't care. lol. Hello to all the worldlies. Love and hugs |
Hi ladies,
Happy Friday kids. I forgot I had to go for a blood test early morning. Good thing I woke up early, rolled over and remembered it. Scrambled into the shower and made it on time. Ugly clouds are rolling in. We were just standing outside watching them swirl. Cool too - 66 right now. Ahhhh refreshing compared to what we've been dealing with... Annie - I was thinking the same thing about Lil Man being still quite little and maybe needing some extra one on one for a while yet. Not the time to be having another baby. If Chris is aware that she's not on BC and he's not doing anything either - then I hope the powers that be intervene on not making a mess of things. :dunno: I think in hindsight we probably were better off putting the fear of God into our kids the way our parents did to us - sometimes kept us from making silly decisions  Hope you can enjoy some relaxing time with C this weekend. Mel - with all your yummy meals from TJs does this mean your tummy is feeling more to normal after the meds? Not sure you are missing anything by never having a sub sandwich from the chains. You HAVE however had at least one grinder(grine-duh) in your life, haven't you? I'm glad you were able to investigate and figure out what was giving you the intestinal issues. I told DH one has to take some owness and not just rely on the doc's opinions. Yikes Michelle - more car troubles? :( Good thing DH can do some repairs although I'd not be chomping at the bit to replace brakes :yikes: Might even rather do laundry and clean the oven instead  Shad - your post reminds me of a classic phrase one of my former co-workers told me - "all you're missing is the aggrivation..." (when I said I wasn't sure if I missed working yet). Hope the on call weekend is quiet. Looks like the worst of the storm is coming through so I'm going to get off for a bit now. Have a good Friday chicks... |
I'm still here worldly chicks..been super busy running around. Just a little crispy after our day at the pool. will catch up in the next few days and will do personals. Happy weekend everyone!

Annie
Yes, I'm staying home this week end. It's to hot to be traveling very far. Ellen A day by the pool sound like fun. Mel Your TJ finds sound good. I may have to see what our local super market has or make a run to the super walmart. ------- I have a feeling that I'm going to cancel the long trip to Pigeon Forge. This 8hour drive is spooking with the heat. I have till Thursday to call and cancel to get a full refund. I may go talk to my bf this afternoon to see what she thinks. |
Good middle of the night'/day to all.....
Maybe I just do not require the sleep that most people do or I am to tired to care....I don't know anymore...but wish I could sleep better...I mean what the H is wrong with me that I cannot sleep???? Got enough stuff done that today was not a total waste. Harvested enough lettuce/spinach and green onion for an army. Got it all cleaned and bagged. What the heck I am going to do with it all baffles me, everyone says they do not need anymore. To make matters worse, it will be all ready to harvest in another week or two. I know, it is only lettuce etc...let it go...but it just makes me crazy to not harvest and keep it. Tomatos are getting big, but still green, will all probably turn ripe at the same time....thank God I make salsa and save a lot of tomatos not to have the same problems as the lettuce..lol CEEG...Tennessee had a LOT of bad weather in the past few days with tornados and storms, not sure of Pigeon Forge but might be worth checking into it before making the trip...I understand about the hot weather and not wanting to travel. It is miserable here. MELLIE...you just couldn't stand it...Christmas in July...Oh Mellie only you could get away with it...good for you for thinking of happy things like Christmas...xoxo HAPPY...I wish we were looking to a storm. It is so dry here. It is just awful.. Today was 105 and tomorrow is the same. No relief til the middle of next week for temps, but no water....blah. ELLEN.....Is it not enough that you stay busy with all the kiddos and the job too. Hope you get some peace somewhere. xoxo Not much else going on here. Finishing the laundry and watching Golden Girls...what an exciting Friday nite....blah,..,may be babysitting lil man tomorrow nite but won't know till tomorrow afternoon.....nothing like being on call........ Loves and hugs.... |

GOOD MORNING chicks I AM USING THIS WEEKEND AS MY HOLIDAY. HOPING EVERY9ONE BEHAVES. THERE WILL BE A MAN SITTING IN THE LOBBY ALL DAY UNTIL MICNIGHT. HOPEFULLY HE CAN WATCH OVER THE SENIORS. TALKED TO THE MAYOR LAST NIGHT AND MY BOSS. THE PEEPS HERE WERE BEGINNING TO FALL LIKE FLIES. WHAT CAN I SAY.....IT'S BLOODY HOT. 3 SENIORS WENT TO THE HOSPITAL. ONLY ONE CAME HOME. NOBODY LISTENS.:faint: THIS YEAR I WILL BE GOOD AND STAY UPSTAIRS IN MY OWN A/C! NOTHING MUCH NEW. DELIGHTING IN MY TJ FOOD. THEN HAD A CALL FROM JEN. SHE & RICHIE ARE LIKE 2 MOTHER HENS. NOW THEY'RE CALLING EACH OTHER TO SEE IF I LIE:rofl: RICHIE SPILLED THE BEANS...HE CANNOT KEEP A SAECRET:lol3: HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEEKEND AND BE CAREFUL:hug: MICHELLE....WHEN YOU GUYS DO THE BRAKEANNIES I HOPE DH IS BEING CAREFUL OF THE LUNGS. OTHERWISE IT WILL BE A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL:rollpin: PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES. ANNIE......DO THOSE ANT SPOKES WORK??? WE NEED THEM HERE. THEY USE SOME KIND OF WHITE POWDER MADE BY ORTHO. HOPE YOU & MONKEY HAVE A GOOD TIME. .....ENJOY YOUR MOVIE TOO!!! PART 2: I WISH WE COULD TAKE ALL YOUR PRODUCE OFF YOUR HANDS!! WE NEED TO MOVE CLOSER FOR SURE:hug: THE XMAS IN JULY IS ON THE TV TOO.....OR WILL BE SOON I HOPE:hohoho: THEY SHOWED ALL THE XMAS MOVIES ON THE HALL MARK CHANNEL LAST YEAR. I TRY TO KEEP HAPPY THOUGHTS AROUND ME ALL THE TIME....SENDING SOME TO YOU TOO  *****Also......read th side effects on the meds you take. They often interrupt sleep patterns. Especially when combined with another drug or vitamin ets. Just thinking outloud. I know one of mine did in the hosp last year and they took me off of it. I forget which it was. Any drug that can change the chemistry in the brain can change the sleep pattern. Wishing you sweet dreams. :cloud9: HAPPY......THE TUMMY FEELS BETTER BUT THE FOOD LEAVES VERY QUICKLY! (get the picture?) CAN'T SEEM TO GET OVER THE CIPRO JUST YET. (yogurt & probiotics have the opposite effect on me) BUT MAYBE SOON IT WILL END. THANK GOD FOR GOOGLE. & THANKS FOR ASKING. HOPE THAT WASN'T TOO MUCH INFO. HOPE YOUR BLOOD TESTS WENT WELL & THE DIABETES IS UNDER CONTROL. I WAS THINKING OF YOU WHEN JOHN CAME FOR A VISIT THE OTHER DAY. YOU WERE BOTH ON THE SAME MEDS AT THE TIME WAY BACK WHEN IN TENN. I WOULD LOVE SOME 66 DEGREES IF YOU WOULD SHARE PLEASE  IT'S FRIGGIN' AFRICA HOT HERE STILL. STAY COOL & SAFE FROM THE STORMS!! PS: WHAT IS A GRINDER?!?!?!?!?? ELLEN ........DON'T GET TOO CRISPY FRIED OUTSIDE. ENJOY THE POOL DON'T KNOW ANYONE ELSE WHO DESERVES IT MORE!!!:swim: CEEJAY.....I AM SORRY TO SEE YOU ARE THINKING OF CANCELLING THE TRIP. I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE AGAIN. IT WOULD BE SUCH A HAPPY REUNION TOO. KEEP US POSTED:hug: |
Morning all. Thanks for your birthday wishes! I had a nice day.
Mel - As well as your doc thinks he knows you and as educated as docs are, you best know how you feel. And with you "listening" so closely to what your body says and keeping track of what you've eaten, you can really be the one to help yourself feel better. Good for you!! Like your new avatar. :) Shad - Hope the support weekend is quiet and you're able to relax and enjoy yourself. :yoga: Happy - 66 degrees sounds delightful. :D Ceejay - Sorry the heat is making you rethink your trip. It wouldn't be the drive so much as the prospect of making it only to be forced by the heat to spend it all indoors... :flame: Michelle - I'm so happy to hear that dh's health news is positive. Does that mean he doesn't have pneumonia?? Oy, sorry to hear about the brake trouble. When it rains it pours. Hate to think of you two out in the heat working on the car!! But it'll save you a bundle of $$ and you can trust your own work vs. the weasel mechanic. I'm glad you're so happy about this job, and that it comes with good benefits. :) Annie - So you're feeling like a rabbit with all the lettuce you're harvesting? I've never grown lettuce, but I know it's got to be a major accomplishment to keep it going well in this heat!! We're getting storms coming through our area, but the amount of rain they bring seems to be very limited/scattered. I think it's a good thing dd isn't preggers right now, the lil guy needs more time having mama to himself. Enjoy your time babysitting him this weekend. :bb: I'm sorry you're not sleeping well - what's with that? Too much going on in your head I imagine. I hope you get a good night's sleep soon!! I suppose when the lil guy starts getting mobile, he'll run you ragged and you'll sleep just fine, LOL. :D Ellen - I guess the pool is really the only kind of outdoor activity to do in this kind of heat. Keep the sunscreen coming! :sunny: === My Thursday was nice. My friend came over and we went to lunch an then a movie. She and bf were particularly interested in seeing "Prometheus" (prequel to the Aliens movies). I wasn't, but she'd already seen "Magic Mike" (darnit), so I went along figuring it would be entertaining even if it's not really my cup of tea. And it was entertaining. I'm always so amazed at how creative people can be, and what a big undertaking movies like that are to make. That night, bf grilled dinner - brats and pork chops and corn on the cob, which we had with salads from the deli, yum. Friday morning was more girl chat over coffee/tea and bday cake. It was nice. The afternoon was lunch and some errands which were no fun in this abominable heat. Bf and I finally decided to move a couple things in the garage and put the car in there. We park our car in the garage in winter, so we never just pile stuff in there for storage, so we just had a couple bikes to move (the two old Schwinn's bf is selling) and that was about it. Usually the car's fine on the driveway in the summer with the foil thingy covering the windshield, but it's just too hot at the moment... Spent the rest of the afternoon and evening indoors with my book and the tv. Making good headway through The Good Wife season 2, but after that we'll be waiting til Sept. for season 3 to be released on dvd. Boo. Today is supposed to be in the 90's...that'll feel better. No plans for me. Bf will go to a party by himself because he always wants to hang out ultra late with these friends and I don't!! If we had two cars we could go separately and I could leave when I wanted, but no. I'm fine with staying home alone. My sis invited us over for Sunday - my SIL is in town for a couple weeks and we always get together once during that time (besides seeing each other at the Relay for Life). This always gives me the guilts because I'm just not close with my family and because I admit to not trying very hard to get closer. And horrible me, I resent that suddenly my nice long weekend has to end with an obligatory family thing... What is wrong with me?? Oh well, I'm not the only one with family dysfunction. Okay, I'll stop rambling now. Everyone have a wonderful weekend. :) |
Mel you snuck in on me. Sorry to hear some folks are succumbing to this horrible heat!! Even though you may not like it, I'm glad you have two mother hens watching out for you.
What's a grinder????!!!! I thought for sure as an East Coaster you'd be very familiar with them. Bf and I make a special trip into the city to a place that sells them - yum, essentially a baked submarine sandwich is what I understand them to be. Our guy's place is called Eastern Style Pizza and besides pizzas, he bakes those sandwiches in his pizza oven. Love 'em! |
I'm calling today to cancel the reservation on the hotel room. It's too hot to travel in my opinion.
Annie I did check out the storms that Pigeon Forge had. The main damage was in the National Park area. I did want to see every one. My niece will be 20 week pregnant and she complains about the California weather. She'll be inside all day. I've thought about driving in two four hours in the morning. Mel Do the seniors have air conditioners in their rooms? Laura Sounds like you had a fun day. Stay cool. Ellen, Happy, Shad  |
Good morning all,
Been watching the weather - why is it that with almost total certainty you can count on the weather.com site's radar NOT to display when you have local bad weather around???? I rely on the radar more than anything for the weather since they can't seem to predict anything accurately. We're had some pretty serious storms all around us but most divert just as they are coming to our town. We have gotten some regular rain which is good. But so many of you are having the insufferable heat. I looked at Chicago yesterday - it was 94 degrees at 11pm. And as Annie says - 105 :yikes: That's crazy. Hopefully the weather will be breaking today for you guys south of me and I see a bunch of storms heading over to Mel's. And they said Global Warming is a figment to scare the public   Yesterday was overcast and blessedly cool and pleasant. It was 62 degrees here at the same time it was 94 in Chicago. I'll take our weather, thanks much. We did get some hot days - was 97 the other day and the garden veggies just perked up their happy little heads. I think my sugar snap peas are sort of wilty but DH said they are doing fine. I only get to harvest about 5 at a time and have eaten them raw - delicious! I have been wanting a camera of my own for a long time. DH has 2 really good ones but they are too much of a pain for me to use and download pictures and I wanted something easy to use that I could take pictures of my own. Talked it over with DH who said go for it. After some research decided on a Canon Powershot 510 which came yesterday. Looks really easy to use, DH took some test shots and they came out nicely. I am going to read up on how to use it today and told him we should plan an outing tomorrow for both photo opportunities and fun - most of the tourists should be heading out of here by tommorow. DH got 2/3 of the garage re-arranged yesterday so that we can get the cars in there again, he made it easy to get at the boxes in there and asked if I could set a goal to go through at least 2 boxes a week. That's do-able. It's been on my mind too because before we know it, we'll be heading into autumn and I have to get that stuff sorted out before the cold weather hits again. And I won't have time in autumn because that is the season I am most looking forward to out here. I got a tiny glimpse of the colors up here last September and they were just starting to turn. DH came a couple of times after me and said the colors were breathtaking so I intend to spend alot of time out and about taking "color drives" in the month of October. Also some good local festivals starting the end of September. I am also debating about cutting my hair short. I don't want to, don't like short hair on me but right now my hair is long - a few inches down my back. And it is coming out in bunches and not sure why although they did knock down my thyroid medicine. I know longer hair is more stressing on the scalp, especially when you wash it. If I cut it now, it will have some time to grow back during the warmer months before everything slows down for winter. The flip side is that I like to pull it off my neck when it's hot and put it into a pony tail (tiny as it might be ;) ) and tuck it in my cap when I go for an ATV ride as I HATE hair flying in my face. Not sure what to do, maybe I'll sit on it another month. Would get a chin length bob at the shortest since I don't have a face for short hair. Ceejay - that's unfortunate you chose to cancel your vacation. Was your BF planning on traveling with you or would you have been driving by yourself? I know it's a very long drive to do in one shot. I'm sure everyone will miss seeing you. Laura - thanks for mentioning that Prometheus was the prequel to the Alien movie series. I saw trailers for it, looked interesting but I generally don't like scary movies like that. As for your family, well everyone is different. I am very close to my sister and Mom and from what I've seen in most people, we are the odd ones out. Most people I know are not close to their family - goofy controlling Moms, siblings with opposite points of view or siblings who just aren't into getting together. My DH has never been close to his siblings and since his Mom died in '79, can count on one hand the number of times we've seen each other. He has no contact with them now. I have some family members who talk about "family first and family should stick together" and then do some things that aren't very nice or family-centric. I told my cousin that just because people are family, doesn't automatically make them ok in my book or mean you have to accept them. My cousin up this way is on my dad's side of the family and we stopped seeing Dad's side once 8th grade graduation parties were over and done with - mostly because Dad's side was mostly alchoholics who would get falling down drunk which encouraged my Dad to do the same. I am just getting reaquainted with my cousins after a 35 year gap. So... I'm just saying that if you're not into getting together with your family, don't let it bother you. :dunno: And sometimes like this party you are attending, you just have to buck up and show face although I completely understand about having to waste time on something you'd rather not interfering with precious free time. Mel - geez I hope you get a break from the heat. What is it about seniors that they refuse to be sensible about keeping cool? I know it's not always about the money / cost of air conditioning. I had to laugh :lol3: about Ritchie and Jen comparing notes on you - I do that with my sister over my Mom so watch out lady - not so easy to pull the wool over the kids eyes   My sister has the same opposite effect with yogurt that you do. What about ginger to calm the stomach? I actually like a water beverage that contains thinly sliced cucumber, grated fresh ginger, thinly sliced lemon rounds and some fresh mint sprigs in a pitcher of cold water I keep in the refrigerator. The ginger helps to calm the tummy down and it's quite refreshing, especially in the heat you are getting. I will find out about the blood test results next week when I go back to the doctor. Wish I could send you some cool air but that's one of the benefits of being up north I guess - we're on top of the jet stream that is sweeping all that hot air across the country. I'm surprised you don't know about grinders - Laura described them perfectly. I first ate one (a delicious meatball one) when we went back to Rhode Island to visit DH's family. We made it a ritual every time we went back - good pizza too! I suppose you have the New York influence - different foods than the typical New England fare. Your pizza is different too - soft crust, humongous slices meant to be folded and eaten. Ok, will stop before I get accused of food porn  Stay cool in your apartment and enjoy your holiday weekend. ;) Annie - did you maybe grow too much produce there? My co-worker would do the same - she said she grew alot because her family ate alot but as the summer boom hit, she'd be coming in with big Walmart bags full of the stuff every other day. I planted 2 spinach plants, 2 arugulas, one mixed spring greens and one butter lettuce mix and I have to admit that L.B. is eating far more of it than we are :o - but he's sure enjoying it. I find alot of the lettuces sort of bitter actually and found I have to eat the spinach when the leaves are smaller and more tender. My cousin told me that you only have to plant chives once - they will winter over in the ground and come back year after year. We had wild scallions that grew like weeds in TN so I've almost been afraid to plant them. DH just announced he is going up to my cousin's and I wanted to check out the farmers market up that way so of course now I have 5 minutes notice to get ready. Back later.... |
Good HOT afternoon...109 in my car and 105 on the outside thermometer. Went to see Magic Mike starring my heart throb Matthew McConaughey. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. It has no story line and if boring. Such a dissappointment. Then went to Wendy's for the new almond berry salad. Quite yummy....went with my bestie Tami. Had a good time.
After that, Dad had called me at 745 am today wanting White Castles...YUCK. So bought those and went and visited while he ate the nasty gut bombers. YUCK..... Home now, getting dinner ready to go on the grill. Cheeseburgers and potatos and onions. C will be late tonight as he is on his own now and running his route. Until he gets the hang of it, he will probably be late. Learning computer, paperwork and the route. He is such a smart man it probably will not take long. MELLIE....thanks for the heads up on the meds and sleeping...probably some are interferring with my sleep patterns, however I have not slept through the night since my kidlets were born and then when my ex would come home in the middle of the night and want to argue and fight. I have been a light sleeper ever since. Once I am awake, no matter what time it is, I am awake and up. It certainly sucks. LAURA...nuttin like girll time.....I had that today with my bf with the movie and lunch. I really miss times like that. We chat about so dang much. We are talking about going to Talbot steet bar which is a drag queen bar. We might be taking our men with us. It should be extra good. I mean really, where do they put their junk. CEEG...I think you did the right thing cancelling your hotel. It is just too dang hot out there. I call my dad like 4 times a day to make sure he does not get an inklilng to go out and sit on the porch in this mess. So far he has complied with my thoughts. HAPPY....I only put in one single line of lettuce and one single line of spinach...God only knows why it took off and is growing like no other....so amazing. It is the first year it has gone crazy with just two rows. Especially since I planted from seeds...just crazy....but that is ok...I usually find someone to give it to. Lil man will be here in about 30 minutes so best be gettin' my act together... Hello to ALL the worldlies...hope your night/morning is going GREAT...just like Tony the Tiger. Sweet dreams....Great coffee.... Love and hugs.... |
PS...I am not really an idiot. This laptop makes me type incorrectly. I am still getting used to this tiny keyboard. Especially since at work I have an eronomic keyboard. This is just a struggle for me. xoxo

Woot woot, I talked to my sis this afternoon. I told her that my friend had cancelled on me and that I might not get to come. I told her that I could make the 8 hour trip in two days instead of one. I'm cancelling the hotel reservation and will be staying with them which will be a lot easier on me. And I don't have to come home on Monday as previously planned. It's working out for the best. Sis has looked up the weather and said it would be 80's for the highs and 60's for the low's. And it's supposed to rain here tomorrow and Monday. I'm excited again.

Morning all,
On second day of call and nothing is happening here. I am not sure whether it is because they took notice of my lessons or are being bloody lazy and not doing any computer work. If I were to take a guess it would be the latter. My time here is drawing to an end. It has had good and bad points. On the upside, I have had two contractor companies approach me to do some work for them and today have received an e-mail from the UK outlining some jobs I might like to look at and I have met a lot of nice people and done some good things. On the downside, I've had to deal with some raving idiots and my patience has been sorely tested at times and because the company is actually owned by the Chinese, I've had to deal with some cultural and sticky situations. Like wanting to shout - for chrissakes get your balls uncrossed and stop thinking about the year 100AD - and - why would you give a man a level of money to authorise and not allow him to authorise his own spending up to the level? Get a grip! Still not my problem. Ceejay - sorry can't understand why you don't want to go to this shindig. Surely the RAV 4 has air conditioning and they are built to withstand just about everything except a nuclear blast. If you have a pregnant niece prepared to make the journey, then what's your beef again??? Happy - goes much against my grain when I hear you talking about feeding the rabbit. I'm not big on feeding any wildlife because if they get used to it, then they will not survive if for some reason you can not feed them forever. Sorry to be a grinch or a grouch. Sounds like the garden is doing very well and you will be eating well at least for the summer. Enjoy the new camera. I loved my Canon cameras as well. Annie - Auntie Mel might be right about the chemical reaction in your brain, however I always find that stress, overwork, and denial of problems is the thing that keeps me awake at night. At the moment I am sleeping well. Long may it last. Wish C well on his new venture into the world of self employment. There is no better boss than yourself. I love my boss!! Michelle - Hope you get the brakes sorted. My car needs new pads. I was sort of hoping DS2 might have done it already, but although I know he has the pads, I haven't heard about the deed being done yet. Ellen - hope you are keeping cool beside the pool. It's probably the only thing that keeps the kids sane at the moment. Laura - families are funny things. I always remember the plaque my mum and dad had hanging in the dining room that said: "God gave us our Family. Thank God we can choose our friends" A friend of theirs had bought it as a souvenir from Blenheim Palace. You have to deal with them on the given day and not dwell on the pain or problems they have caused in the past or will cause in the future. Mel - so the chickens are looking out for you and conspiring behind your back hey. Well we have a bit of a problem here. Would they rather annoy you with their care bear attitude or answer to me if something happened to you? Wonder which is worse - your ire up close or mine from a distance and getting closer? Anyway, speaking of families and the annoyance etc. Mine are attempting to get on my wick as well so to speak. My ex rung my sister at the end of June but failed to leave a message which led her to believe she may have become a greataunt. Not so, he was only ringing her for her birthday and to make dinner arrangement for the weekend visit of DS2 and his lady friend. My nephew threw a decent wobbly and got rid of his live in g/f who was only a couple of months back his 'soulmate' and he more or less broke in to her place and took back all the gifts he had given her. He ditched a really lovely lady who loved him for her. Stupid b*stard My DS1 is reporting all is well to a point in his neck of the woods although madam has not yet fully calmed down after her doctor mentioned the baby might be a tad small DS2 took g/f to meet his father who claims to have a wonderful new friend. She thinks he is sweet. Might have to revise my opinion of her downwards. Ds2 might be considering engagement. I get the feeling! My niece who presented me with a greatniece 3 years ago informs us all that she is pregnant again and due in January. And I am quietly esconced in the Hunter Valley and some of those bottles are looking better everyday. Best go check up on Facebook and then do some housework. I also need to go down the road and fill the car with petrol otherwise I may not make work tomorrow. See ya all |
Ceejay - I'm so glad your trip is back on - I know you were looking forward to it. :)
Annie - Hope the lil guy is being a good little cutie for you tonight. Darn, yours is the second negative review about Magic Mike. I guess if anything I'll wait until the DVD is released and see if the library will have it. I'm typing on my laptop keyboard right now and I don't like it either. And that dumb little red button that's supposed to be the mouse, or that little touchpad that can be the mouse - don't like that either. I'm so sorry your temps haven't cooled by now. :( We had a great day today - cooler (low 80's) with a nice breeze - and I finally got to open the windows and turn off the AC. Happy - Okay, glad I'm not the only one resenting the obligatory family gatherings...Short hair, huh? I'm not considering short hair, but I've been thinking about getting bangs. Not sure...I have cowlicks that would make them difficult to manage. And I don't like my hair on my face, so I have my doubts bangs would work out for me. But who knows, myabe I'll just take the plunge sometime. Enjoy your new camera. I have a Canon Powershot A630, 8 megapixels, can't remember the occasion for which I purchased it, but it was many years ago. Never did learn to use a fraction of the features...makes me feel guilty, and now I use my cell phone's camera most of the time. But you have plenty of time to learn how to use yours. :D ----- Nothing much to report since this morning. I went to Kohl's and bought 3 tops for work, 1 casual top, a pair of clearance pj's and some clearance jewelry - 2 pairs of earrings, a necklace and a necklace/earrings combo set. I was in there forever, but at least I have more tops for work. Got my 15% off and earned $20 in Kohl's cash. Put a reminder in my phone's calendar for the dates I can use it - the last couple times I earned some, I neglected to used it!! Not this time. Took doggy for a nice walk this afternoon - last several days we've only gone around the block due to the heat. We also sat out in the yard afterwards. Doggy was loving it. Oh, forgot to mention it this morning - for your amusement: Yesterday I used a pen to scratch my upper back and when I was done, realized the cap was off the pen, LOL. Yup, ink marks on my back. :D Toodles for now. |
Shad
I wasn't liking that the trip was an 8 hour drive, but I've decided to break it up into 2, 4 hour drives, maybe longer depending on how this body can fare in the car. Told my sis they may have to prize me out of the car once I got there. Laura Sounds like you have gotten some good deals shopping. I checked the radar. Thought I heard it thunder. This rain is coming in from the East to West. Hope it stays together. |
Yes, yet another night of sleeplessness. I do not normally have anything going on in my mind. Just lay there for about 30 mins and if I am not back asleep, I get up. I am certainly convinced that sleep is way overrated. If I take a PM pill I can sleep about 6 hours, but I refuse to rely on them so only take them about once a week when a few days have gone by without the required sleep.
Lil man and C are sound asleep. He is such a good baby and oh so happy. He is the highlight in my life. I love him so very much. It is amazing. He will be 9 mos on the 19th of July. Which in his world is 7 mos. He is sitting up, has two teeth, and "sniping" around on the floor. Not actually crawling, but gets around. He loves peas, carrots, sweet potatos and bananas. Same as Samantha when she was a baby....she doesn't like peas now. Go figure. C and I have nothing on the agenda for tomorrow. God love him, he is so tired in the evening...I am thinking he will be taking a nap tomorrow. He certainly deserves it and I do not mind at all....I just hang out in the backyard in my lil baby pool. lol You go CEEG....vacation like its your last....that is the only way to vacation. Glad the sis is having you stay with them...it will be so much funner..haha a word? funner? lol SHADDIE...I think it is time to get out of that job and for you to move on....I feel some negative vibes from your post. Sprinkling happiness into your from afar! LAURA...so funny about the pen and back scratching. Now I am sure you have created a beautiful picture on your back that could be taken with a camera and posted on ebay for $$. lol. Yeah hold out for the rental on Magic Mike. Then again, I wouldn't even rent it. We were bored and started talking about where to go to lunch. Granted there are a couple of good one liners but other than that ...a big fat BLAH! Guess I will post this and go lay on the couch and watch King of Queens. Or whatever sitcom is on at this hour. Good Morning/Night to all.... |
And I am officially a Granny. We have a little girl called Sophia. She weighs in at somewhere around 2.440 - that about 5lbs.

MELLIE...Our weather is supposed to be in the 80s. Have not heard about next weekend however. I am an outdoors person and I must say I have not been out in it much at all. Just the evenings to water the gardens and that is about it. Hello to all the girls...Looks lil monkey will have a new girlfriend..Miss Sophia. |
Shad
Congratulations on the new grand daughter. She will be a joy. Love the name Sophia. Annie I know what you mean by this hot weather. I got outside last night when it was barely beginning to get dark. My poor a.c. has done wonders this year. Mel That's what I told my sis, I'll get their one way or the other. When my cousin came from the pan handle of Tx she broke her drives up in to segments also. She had 12 hours in front of her. I'm getting more excited to as I don't have to worry about the other party going back to work on a certain day. I have off 10 days. ---- Don't know what happened to the internet last night. And I'm not sure exactly what I did to get it back on but here I am. But they always tell me to unplug every thing then try it again. That's what I did. |
Good morning everyone -
I had a migraine yesterday afternoon, so I went to sleep early and then was rudely interrupted by fireworks going off nearby...in our own subdivision!! :yikes: With as dry as everything is, DH and I were fairly freaked. There is still a ban on fireworks this year, but I guess these folks didn't care. They weren't just setting off the small-scale stuff either...these were professional grade like you see at a big public display. Really freaked us out...and scared Mischief half to death. We live next door to a sheriff, but as luck would have it, I guess they were out of town. :tantrum: We were really hoping he'd use his badge and shut the fireworks down before they caught the whole neighborhood on fire. :( Don't get me wrong, we love fireworks (even if Mischief doesn't), but with as dry as everything is...why risk it? I tackled the washing and drying portion of Mount Washmore yesterday...now I just have to do the folding. DH was able to replace my brakes yesterday. I helped him by getting him all the tools so he could just stay seated. He had a good oxygen level before he started working on the brakes, and it was the same when he finished...so no harm done. Today, if he's up to it, he'll either work on his car or mine; and if he's not feeling up to it, it can wait 'till next weekend. Yesterday was lovely, in the mid 80s. It was still a bit muggy. Today is supposed to be in the upper 70s. I just wish we'd get some rain. All the rain seems to go north over Happy or south over Laura. :( I'm waiting for DMIL to wake up and eat so we can go to the store. Also, I may go to the AT&T store and look at a phone I'm thinking of upgrading to. It's bigger than mine, and since I have small hands, I just want to see how it feels. ====================== Mel - So sorry to hear about the seniors having to go to the hospital. :( I hope you're taking good care of yourself this weekend and staying in the A/C. Laura - DH does have pneumonia. But at least it's not a fungal infection, and he seems to be getting better. :crossed: And at least it was much cooler yesterday so working on the car wasn't too bad. Glad to hear "Prometheus" was entertaining. And Laura, you're definitely not the only one with family dysfunction...nothing wrong with you at all. I agree with Happy's comments. Nice that you were able to take Coal for a longer walk and enjoy some outside time with him. I sat in the yard with the dogs as well yesterday. :) too funny about scratching your back with a pen! I do that too!! the other day the cap came off, so I had to shake my shirt to get the cap to fall out the bottom of my shirt! Annie - I wish I lived close enough to take some of that lettuce off your hands. Bummer that you're not sleeping well. Have you tried melatonin or chamomile tea? Bummer that Magic Mike was a waste. :( I'll have to try that salad at Wendy's. It sounds yummy. I am glad that Sam isn't preggers. Lil Man needs more time with mama. I've been to drag queen performances once or twice...those men are GORGEOUS as women and usually look just like the women they are impersonating. Good for C for working so hard to succeed in self-employment! Happy - It's so hard to trust the weather radar in the summer as with all the heat and humidity, you get "pop up" storms that appear out of nowhere. I'm glad the severe storms are avoiding you, and that you're getting some rain. Congrats on the new camera! It sounds fantastic! I didn't know that long hair was more stressing on the scalp. I guess my hair is so thin that I never thought about it. I've had long hair since I was around 9 years old, except for a brief stint with a curly perm and cut that was a cross between a shag and a mullet in the early 80s (what WAS I thinking?). All the talk of grinders and pizza has made me eager for lunch...and I just had breakfast! I didn't know that chives were perennial. Interesting about the scallions in TN. It seems the produce plant that grows like weeds here is rhubarb. Ceejay - I'm so glad you're breaking up the drive so you can still go on vacation. :) And that you'll be staying with your sister! :woohoo: And best of all you don't have to come back early because of someone else's work schedule! Sounds like you'll have a wonderful time!! I'm so happy for you!! Shad - Congrats on being a grandma!! Welcome dear Sophia!!! And congrats on the impending nuptuals for DS2! Are those contractor companies from the UK suggesting jobs in the UK or on your side of the globe. It is frustrating to deal with raving idiots. I love the plaque about families and friends - it's so true. Okay, DMIL is up and breakfast has been had by all...so we'll be heading out on errands soon. Much love and many hugs, |
Good Sunday Morning Ladies,
Congrats Shad on the new granddaughter. Lovely name Sophia. And a tiny little thing although I was born just slightly over 5 pounds and grew up just fine  So many babies being born early - what's the deal here???? I am glad to hear that all is well with the new parents. Maybe you won't be able to be there right at the moment but perhaps by the time you get there they will be willing to be more receptive to some practical mothering advice. I totally enjoyed your family update. Are you liking DS2's ladyfriend - aside from the fact that she thinks your ex is smashing? May I borrow the phrase "get your balls uncrossed..." ? :lol3: Love it. Can't wait to casually drop that one in front of the boys    Glad you got some new work contacts out of the current contract. Did I understand that you might be tapped for some work in the U.K.? - that would be interesting indeed. Get you closer to our side of the pond no less. Finally I understand your point about feeding L.B. I think it's DH missing having a pet. He certainly loves the wildlife out here and with the bear around we no longer have the deer and turkeys which he so enjoyed seeing. I am acutely aware of (and against) doing anything to the wildlife that would interfere with their survival on their own. We only give L.B. bits and since he has grown to a medium sized teenage bunny, he is eating less and less of what we offer him and I am most happy to see him digging in the grass eating clover and broadleaf grasses and all the things he should be surviving on. I'm pretty sure that in a month or two when he hits adult size, he will toddle down the road as his range of grazing goes farther and farther now that he is no longer the size of my hand. Annie - how funny that Lil Man has already garnered himself a new girlfriend with a cute accent :lol3: I totally get how he is the love of your life - I think grandkids do that to people. Right now I am the age where I don't have the energy to chase 4 year olds like I once did but babies I can handle! I'm glad you are close enough to enjoy the little babe. So how much (or little) sleep do you get in a night? 4 hours? It certainly does not seem to affect your energy as you do more than 6 average women on any given day. I suppose as long as you aren't head clunking your desk at 2pm each day, it is what it is and I guess you have learned to deal with it. I feel for you though. I see that the heat broke in Chicago, hope it soon follows to your side of town. I'll bet Lil Man will just love sitting with you in the back yard kiddie pool. Hope C gets a chance to recharge the batteries - sounds like he has to work very, very hard at the new job. Ceejay - that's a bummer that your friend cancelled out on the trip - long way to drive by yourself. Will be much easier if you have the time to split it into 2, four hours stints. And you can catch some scenic views from middle TN - pretty part of the country also. Glad you figured out a way to make it work - I'm sure your family is excited to see you. Mel - grinders are not paninis. Different kind of bread. Different technique. I guess each region calls them something different: Other names -
Hope you get a break in the weather so you can get a bit of sunshine and fresh air in between the rain and heat. Great idea to put the videos on a revolving rack for the seniors. Laura - that is way too funny about the open pen and your new "back art" :lol3: Good idea about setting a reminder for the Kohl's cash. I hated that I could not combo that with a discount coupon so you just have to look for a good deal on the sales. Did you say that Coal has a doggy pool for these hot summer days? Went to the other Farmers Market yesterday. Mostly craft type stuff. Too soon for veggies I guess although I did buy a box of delicious sugar snap peas which I washed and will eat raw as I love them. My garden snap peas are coming in but I only get about 5 a week. Next year I will plant about 10 plants to make sure I have enough for a dinner's serving. They don't take any garden space as they grow up the trellis. Also bought 2 expensive muffins from a vendor who was representing a new restaurant that opened up in town. The muffins were dry and tasteless :barf: But that's why we try stuff - sometimes a winner, sometimes not. On the way home I asked DH to stop in town. We have several people who park in lots and sell things out of their truck - one is the strawberry lady who was not there this weekend :( Across the street was a guy selling sweet corn out of his truck. My cousin said his stuff was pretty good so we got a dozen ears as well as a small watermelon. Got home, opened the watermelon and half of it was overripe. Have had that problem several times with the small round melons. Guess I'll just have to pay more and buy a half melon at the store. We did take the melon back and the man refunded our money and apologized. Talked about going berry picking up north about an hour and a half's drive from here but strawberry season is almost done and the blueberries are just starting to come into season. Thing is, I don't want an entire box of 5 pounds of berries as I don't like them frozen and will not be making any jam out of them so I decided I'll just buy a smaller amount here at the store. Tried taking some pictures with the new camera - very easy to use and I love the 12x zoom feature but I am very shaky. Have to steady myself against something. We were going to take an ATV ride today but DH said they quietly passed a law July 1 that ATVs have to have license plates on them now and we are awaiting our plates. Didn't want to risk getting stopped and fined. I am freaky about ticks still so not all that enthused about taking a hike in the bush so will just have to think of something else to enjoy the day. Hello to the rest of the chicks - enjoy your Sunday  |
Hello Michelle who was typing away as I was lollygagging here  Glad DH was able to work on your car without getting too fatigued. As for the hair we will NEVER apologize about the hair styles we have had in the past. We were just following the cuts of the time  Lord knows I have had my share of bleached out fried blond hair but like you have generally stuck with long hair. I get an occasional chin length bob and then always wind up letting it grow out. DH said I should just shave it and get a nice wig - guess he's tired of hearing me always complain about the thinness of my hair and is offering the practical "man" solution. If a decent looking wig didn't cost so much, I might entertain the idea. However pretty hard to find wigs where I live now - more likely to find a camo (camoflage) baseball style hat : Hope you have a good shopping trip with the family...
