Oh and sissy is at the doc right now. She is having an internal ultrasound. Hopefully her cervix is not any shorter. If it gets down to 2.5 they will have to go in and stitch her cervix shut....last week it was 2.7. Prayers and fingers crossed. Will keep you posted.

Morning all.
Michelle - So nice the work at home policy is broader now. Our employer leaves it to the discretion of the department manager. Now I know all the work is waiting for you, but for both you and dh, it's best to just ease back into it slowly after being laid up so long. When bf's back went out, the lawn got long and he knew he'd have to bag the clippings instead of mulching them back into the lawn, and that it would be impossible w/ his back hurting. He ended up paying someone to mow it just to avoid the bagging. Maybe that's something you can do - although I think it would be costly if you have enough lawn to warrant a riding mower! Both of you take care and don't wear yourselves down - it's not worth it!! Shad - LOL, lot of verbal trash-talking between you and Scotty. Incidentally, the author of the book I just read was Anne Perry, who I learned was involved in a scanadalous murder in NZ as a teen when her name was Juliet Hulme. This was in the 50's, so before your time I believe... Happy - Yeh, I think the last bar car train went away a few months ago. I remember years ago being a clueless new Metra rider and sometimes boarding the train in the smoker car and thought I'd die before getting to a non-smoking car. Blech! When Shad described the banter, it reminded me of two former colleagues from years ago who would go back and forth about each other's hometowns - one was Rockford and the other was one of the Quad Cities - I forget which. Of course being from Chicago, I was above it all...:snooty: Yes, I'm thinking it won't be nearly as easy going back out for classes once the icky weather hits. I do think colors look so great when set off by nice white trim. I'd love to [have someone] paint all our baseboards and window frames white - and replace our generic doors for nicer white ones. Our ceilings are rather low, so I'm not sure how crown molding (sp?) would work out - make them look even lower, or draw the eye up and make them seem higher?? Yeh, we have a Walgreens a couple doors down from our building and it's easy to pop in there before or after lunch - yes, often for snacks. :o State street is only 4 blocks east, but I still don't get down there very often... Ceejay - Your gym sounds a bit worse than the Bally's facility near our house. Bf is finally getting to the point where he is ready to sell his Presidential membership (he's had it for 20+ years) and be done with it. It's dated, not all that clean, often has broken equipment, and the employees (including the manager) are boneheads. We don't think they will ever renovate this location and the three nearest locations, which are all much nicer than this one, are still too far to go to on a regular basis. Very lame. I imagine bf might end up getting a RecPlex membership... I'm happy to do classes and some at-home workouts. Nothing like going down to the basement in my pj's for a workout! :D Happy Birthday in advance, since you know I'm frequently scarce around here on the weekends. :hb: Mel - Hope you're all set and tucked in before Irene hits! I heard a brief blurb of a radio show last night talking about the storm models and how close it could get to Long Island, and I know that's in your general area (or specific area??) Hope those seniors don't get it into their heads to go outdoors for this!! Annie - Wow, you'll have a boarder! I hope it works out for you - and for her. It sounds like easier money than working at CVS, but who knows? Hope Sissy's measurement goes well and no cervix stitching is needed!! As for the exercise - well, it's the least I can do since I can't seem to stop stuffing my face w/ food! ===== I went to the Body Blast class last night. One move I find tough is where I'm on all fours and opposite leg and arm are raised. That part I'm used to - good exercise for balance and to strengthen the back. It's the next part that's really challenging - bring the elbow and knee in to meet each other in an ab crunch. I went home and showed bf and he did a few and agreed it was indeed a toughie. Tonight I might be going to a wake right after work (for BF's SIL's mother, nice woman), so no exercise class tonight. I've had a sore throat the past two mornings, so now I'm on zinc lozenges because I really don't want a cold. If I'm not feeling good this afternoon, I'm skipping the wake. Okay, back to work. As Shad says - why couldn't I be born rich instead of beautiful?? :D |
Good news....Sissy cervix measured the same as last week so she does not go back for two weeks. She did get an excellent picture of his hand up in the air..you can actually see and count his fingers and a thumb. Kind of a big hand too....probably taking after his 6'6" daddy. YIKES!!
|
Another reason I quit going to our gym is that I came down with cellulitis which is a form of staph infection. Still have the scaring to prove it. The doctor told me about the gyms being full of germs. Not every one cleans the machines etc.
Got to sleep late this morning as there is no house cleaner coming today. There was some changes being made yesterday at work concerning personal use of city vehicles and payday. We will not get paid till 4 p.m. which is okay by me and I'll have to go pick up my paycheck. They are working out details on direct deposit which I've been wanting for some time. Mel Good luck on getting evry thing done. Remember to take some breaks. Let's hope that Irene goes out to sea. Annie Glad things are going well with Siissy and her pregnancy. I have mixed emotions when it comes to having room mates. Happy Haven't thought of Woolworth's in a long time. Laura I've been having trouble with the allergies which had started out as a sore throat. It's much better since I started the ClaritinD. However, my bp doesn't look as good. Going back to the regular Claritin today. I'm going to be outside most of the afternoon getting some yard work done. Michelle Take it easy. Oh thought this was funny when I read it last night on Facebook. The weather channel recently named the new fault line as Obama. Obama would in turn say it was Bushes "fault" line. Others have indicated that was our forefathers turning over in their graves after finding out that the economy in our country was 1.4 bilion and growing. Have a good day. oh and thanks for the early birthday wishes. |
CEEJAY...I have mixed emotions about roommates also, but it beats working two jobs. I THINK!!
|
Annie - good luck with the roommate. I really, really hope it works out for you and doesn't turn into any unnecessary stress or drama. I'm so glad to hear your DD's appointment went so well! :yay:
Ceejay - Wishing you a very happy birthday weekend!! :hb: :celebrate: Laura - Thanks for the suggestion about hiring someone to mow our lawn. Unfortunately, both DH and I agree that it's not the actual mowing that would bother our lungs as much as the cut grass afterwards (we don't have a bagger for our riding mower). I think we're going to wait 'till the weekend and give ourselves a couple more days to get this crud out of our lungs. I'm working from home this afternoon...and I just caught a whiff of smoke (someone burning leaves or grass clippings or whatever). I really hope it's not that...because then I'll have to close up the house and turn on the AC and it's not even that hot out...but I can't handle that smokey air. |
HEY CHICKS....I NEED TO GO BACK AND READ BUT IN THE MEANTIME I WILL POST FIRST.
WE ARE ABOUT AS READY AS WE CAN BE. I ASKED FOR AND ACCEPTED HELP THAT WILL REMAIN IN THE BUILDING FROM LATE SATURDAY THRU SUNDAY. THOSE ARE THE EXPECTED WORST HOURS. NYC HAS EVACUATION P-LANS IN EFFECT ALREADY. I AM TIRED BUT TOOK LOTS OF BREAKS TODAY. WAITING FOR RICHIE TO TRANSLATE THE LATEST NOTICE TO TENANTS INTO SPANISH. IT'S ABOUT EMERGENCY PLANS THAT GO INTO EFFECT FRIDAY AND THEN I'LL ADD IT TO MY PART OF THE LETTER AND PRINT IT OUT. TOMORROW I CAN MAKE THE 200 COPIES THEY WANT AND SHIP THEM OUT TO THE OTHER BLDGS TOO. JOHN IS STILL OUT AND MY BOSS HAS A FRACTURE UNDER HER ANKLE. BECAUSE OF HER WEIGHT THEY WILL PROBABLY PUT A BOOT CAST ON SO IT WON'T SPLIT OPEN ANY FURTHER. MY PHONE HASN'T STOPPED RINGING. IT'S NOW TO THE POINT OF BEING RIDICULOUS:rofl: I NEED TO MAKE SOME DINNER AND TAKE A SHOWER. THE HUMIDITY AND RAIN TODAY WERE UNREAL BUT THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IRENE. LET ME GET SOME FOOD AND READ WHAT EVERYONE IS UP TO.:book2: |
Morning all.
Another rush job, sorry, just wanted to let you all know I am still living and breathing. well sortof!!!! Annie - just couple of pieces of advice from someone who has had 'guest boarders' before. Set up the ground rules before you start and ensure you both understand them. Write them down and you both sign the paper. Sounds harsh but at least you know where you stand. For example ground rule one - is the boarder home for dinner and who is providing the dinner. Rule two, who does what as far as housework goes. Is it you or both of you or does she just keep her room tidy. Who does the laundry and which day do the sheets get put out. Three - do we talk about work at home. That can get boring and also cause arguments Four - Do we go out together or live separate lives. How do you go with bringing men home??? Now I know you have probably thought of all this but I am bringing this to the front so you can avoid heartache later. Gotta go. Breakfast is on. I'll be back. The weekend is nearly here. Yeehaa. Get Scotty with the cattle prod, lets go!!!! |
Atta girl Mel
Actions stations - treat it like the enemy just came to town |

HAPPY FRIDAY SHAD! CAME BACK CAUSE I CANNOT GET TO SLEEP. MUST BE ALL WOUND UP. JEN & I HAD A VISIT AND RICHIE DID A GOOD TRANSLATION FOR ME. THAT'S ONE LESS THING I NEED TO DO TOMORROW. Good morning to you,
TGIF!!!! People are coming to clean the downstairs air ducts today so I have to get out of here extra early today. Painters were supposed to start on Monday but we put them off until after DH comes back from his last trip north - too much chaos with them painting and him trying to pack and move stuff out. I think we should be able to list the house by the end of the month. Mel - sending you some good thoughts that Irene loses steam by the time she comes to visit. Sounds like they are expecting a pounding but it's good that you folks are being very prepared. Did I understand it correctly that your apartment building is right across from the Hudson River? Could you be affected by the storm surge if it hits? I caught a little bit of that on the news and they were talking about it possibly blowing some big time water up your way. Good thing you are on the second floor. :swim: Stay out of the subway system :yikes: Shad - are you working this weekend or home for a bit getting ready to take off for the mines? Hope you get everything all packed. Good advice to Annie on the roomie. Annie - I guess the extra money will certainly come in handy, but I agree with Shad about setting the ground rules early. Not bad to have them in writing too. You hate to do it but so many times trust and common sense just don't work out. My Mom has a small 1 bedroom apartment upstairs in her house. Had her friend stay there with no incident for 2 years. Then she moved back to North Carolina and the woman's daughter moved in. Mom had nothing but trouble with her before she finally asked her to leave and said that was the end of borders! Hope this lady is a good one as there are good roomies and tenants in the world. Michelle - hope the smoke went away up by you. Do you and DH have masks you can wear this weekend? We have some trees that have very fuzzy leaves and DH found he has to wear one when he trims them and just about nothing ever bothers him. Hope you are feeling kind of back up to snuff again. Ceejay - I am not keen on gyms much any more myself. I noticed that there are a fair amount of people who don't clean the machines after themselves. Figure that laying a towel on the seat is enough. I had heard that allergy meds can really do a number on the b/p. My Dad couldn't take them at all. You may have to try a couple of different ones to find something that works without too many affects. Thank you all for the suggestion about the antidepressants. I didn't realize they helped a number of symptoms. I still haven't taken the ones the doc gave me. There was a report of heart issues with this particular med but in way higher doses than I have. I guess I feel I don't really need it but I will give it more thought. I appreciate your input.... Now I have to hop in the shower and get out of here. Have a good one chicks. |
:coffee: MORNING CHICKS
JEN & RICHIE ARE COOKING TONITE. THAT WILL BE A NICE TREAT. I LOVE HIS MEAT SAUCE SO MUCH:hun: WAITING FOR A GENT TO COME AND INSPECT THE BLDG FROM THE SHAKING UP WE HAD. ALL BLDGS THAT WERE SHAKEN ARE BEING LOOKED AT. HAD A NICE LONG CHAT WITH JOHN LAST NIGHT TOO. HE IS FEELING BETTER BUT NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET BY ANY MEANS. I NEED SOME BREAKFAST BUT I'M NOT HUNGRY! BETTER GO FIND SOMETHING TO TEMPT ME. HAVE A GREAT DAY :moped: HAPPY......I SEE THE NUMBERS DROPPING ON IRENE. I AM HIGH UP ON A CLIFF OF THE PALISADES. NO FLOODING PROBS UP HERE :dancer: HOPE YOUR HOME REPAIRS GO WELL AND GREAT DECISION TO "WAIT FOR THE PAINT"! I HAVE NEVER TIRED ANY PILLS BUT KNOW MANY THAT HAVE. WHEN JEN QUIT WORK THEY GAVE HER ONE TO CALM DOWN AND ACCEPT THE EARLY RETIREMENT BUT SHE DIDN'T TAKE VERY WELL TO IT. I THINK THE ENTIRE OFFICE STAFF IS TAKING ONE PILL OR ANOTHER RIGHT NOW!! IT WOULD CERTAINLY TAKE THE EDGES OFF YOU ANXIETY AND MAYBE EVEN EASE YOUR MIND WITH ALL THIS STRESS. SENDING YOU A HUG :hug:WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING BETTER I COULD DO:hug: |
TGIF!
I have been feeling very weak and nauseous since yesterday afternoon. I took one of my antibiotics about an hour after I ate...rather than with food. I didn't think it would affect my stomach like it did or last nearly as long as it has. :( Gotta get through the work day even though I'd rather rest/sleep. After work, I have a meeting with a website client and have to run two errands, dang it. Looking forward to a relatively relaxing weekend, both DH and I need another one of those. ******************* Mel - Wow! Sounds like you are really prepared. I heard about NYC evacuating and wondered how they will get so many people out? I'm glad you took lots of breaks yesterday...and that you will have help in the building. Good that the store is able to deliver some groceries/supplies to you today. Please don't overdo it today or this weekend. Sending you :goodvibes:  and prayers that Irene weakens to a nice summer shower by the time she gets to you NYC and NJ. So nice that Jen and Richie are cooking tonight. Wish I could come over for dinner! Glad you had a nice chat with John...sending him get well wishes. Good that an inspector is coming to check the building. I'm relieved that you are on high ground so you won't have any flooding issues. Shad - Those are great ground rules for roommates. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy home a bit this weekend before you fly out early Monday. Happy - Listing the house by the end of August or September? Are you going up with DH for this next trip? Praying for safe travels for him and productive (and pain free) times for you both so you can get lots accomplished with minimal stress. Good point about the NYC subway system...I hope they shut it down so no one is down there during a storm surge. The smoke wasn't too bad after all. I did okay and didn't have to close up the house. DH and I have masks for if/when we mow. As for antidepressants, I forgot to mention that long before I had stress/anxiety and depression-like symptoms, I used to take low doses to prevent migraines and they really helped with that. So yes, antidepressants are meds that help many different things. Sending you lots and lots of   my dear friend. Ceejay - I always make it a point to wipe down the machines with the sanitizer both BEFORE and after I use them. I really like the gym I go to...though I have previous (in CA) had memberships to Bally's and 24 hour fitness...which to me seemed more like hangouts for beautiful people with perfect bodies and any others were looked down on. And they weren't too clean either. A big  to Annie and Laura. I'll check in later to see what y'all are up to. Love and hugs, |
TGIF FO SHO.....and good morning...
Let's see...last night I went over to Curtis's house for dinner, well actually I made dinner there. Nothing elaborate...grilled turkey, swiss, cheddar and tomato sandwiches, potato cakes...that was it. I ate half of each. Got full too fast. We then went on a 30 minute walk around his neighborhood. By the time we did all that it was time to go to bed. Up at 4am to come home, him to work. Slept for about an hour then got ready for work myself. The trip into work was crazy this morning. I think it is all stupid get out on the roads today and get in my path day. Was nearly in two accidents. Plus someone came barrelling down the drive through the crosswalk in front of work, thank God I was alert and did not step out into the PEDISTRIAN CROSSING-we have the right away-I would certainly be dead or severely injured. MELLIE...batton down the hatches, make sure the water barrells are full, and there is enough food to carry you through this sea adventure. Really it sounds as if you all are prepared for the worst. Expect the worst, hope for the best. Hugs and Prayers sister. SHADDIE...thank you for the words of advice, always glad to take anything that will help. Actually we have had discussions of the sort and I am typing out the list this afternoon, after my meeting. xoxo HAPPY...Did you bury St. Joseph upside down in your yard yet. Let me know, if not, I will send you one with instructions. What could it hurt? One day at a time... CHELLE...hope your weekend involves a lot of NOTHING. You and DH still need lots of rest and relaxation. Do not push yourselves. I WILL COME WITH THE ROLLING PIN. ;):p LAURA...hope the throat is just the sinus drainage from the nite and not a cold coming on. Hope you get to feeling better, take a ton of vitamin Cs. Hugs! CEEJAY...Happy early birthday once again and have a wonderful birthday weekend with the uncles. May all your wishes come true sweet cheeks. Feel betters, stay safes, be happy.... Much love and many hugs.... |
Annie - I'm so happy you had such a nice evening with Curtis! And I'm glad you weren't in any accidents this morning...sounds like it was crazy getting into work. Stay safe, sista.
Laura - I hope your sore throat has gone away. Good for you for hitting it with zinc right away. Ceejay - Wishing you a wonderful birthday weekend and a great visit with your sister!! |
Morning all. TGIF!!! :yay:
Ceejay - Hope you enjoyed the yardwork and that the Claritin did its job. Mel - I'm glad you've got help on site this weekend in the event it's needed. Let's hope Irene peters out well before NJ. :crossed: Get well wishes to John. Enjoy your meal w/ Jen & Rich. :) :hun: :chef: LOL - no, I should hope I would have enjoyed that exercise move a lot more if it came out of the Kama Sutra. Shad - Good advice for Annie's entry into landlording. Hope your pre-trip prep is going smoothly and not all rush-rush. Happy - If you're not sure about taking those pills, please try to make time for some vigorous exercise - it's a great stress reliever!! Michelle - So sorry the antibiotic didn't sit well. Like I was saying - the cures are worse than the ilness! Hope the nausea eases up and you can get on with your day. Please try and do the minimum until you're 100%. Same for dh!! Annie - So Curtis has you exercising more - sounds like a good guy to have around. :D I woke up w/ a froggy throat and some lung congestion, so the germs/virus/whatever did find its way in. Boo. Not feeling too horrible, but I think some meds might be in order, especially for the asthma. The lungs are upset by everything now. === Took an earlier train yesterday afternoon and went all the way to the end of the line (McHenry fork). Bf picked me up and we went to the wake for his SIL's mother. She was a nice woman and her family is very nice, and bf and I both wish we had that kind of family... Bf's mom's new car went on the fritz just as she was backing out of her space at the funeral home. Something with the alarm system putting the car in lockout mode - the engine would turn over but immediately cut out. After trying to figure it out, we just ended up ordering a tow to the dealer and driving her home. (Now the dealer is saying it's related to something that should have been done when she had the car in for a previous problem. Thank goodness it's all under warranty, but for Pete's sake, this car is brand new and has less than 3000 miles on it!!! !@#$% WTF do you buy a new car for if not to have a reliable, problem-free vehicle for at least the first couple years?!?! Aaargh! Before you ask - it's a 2011 VW Jetta.) Stopped for a late dinner and got home by 10:30. Late night after winding down and all once we got home. TGIF!! My bike was left at the train station last night, so I walked to the train this morning. The weather is gorgeous, so it was very pleasant. The few kids I passed heading to school didn't look too thrilled though, haha. Did I say TGIF?? Except for a late afternoon dept meeting the boss seems to enjoy scheduling, I am on my own. BF has a beer brewing seminar tonight at the park district, so I get to stay home and sack out on the sofa. Well, after I walk the dog, that is. Tomorrow is an exercise class, then a hair appt, then the gathering at bf's sister's place, and maybe meeting some friends for some drinks. Sunday is the movie "The Help" in the PM w/ the book club. Bf and I hope to get in a bike ride also. |
just smashed finger in car door. blood everywhere. hurt so bad i nearly passed out.
|
Annie - OMG!!! Are you ok? Did you get the bleeding to stop or did you need stitches? You poor sista. You've had a helluva day! I hope the rest of it gets better...and that you have a fun weekend. I wish I were there to give you a hug.
|
Ouch Annie!! Did u get that taken care of?? Hope it's not serious!

Laura - Take good care of your lungs, my friend. Mucinex helps. Breathing isn't anything to mess around with (trust me, I know). Get to a doctor (or ER) if you continue to have trouble.
Mel - So sorry that now they're telling you to prepare for a 3 day blackout. Can you please PM me your phone number so that I can call you to make sure you're okay? Or at least call Happy or Shad to let them know. I'm keeping you in my prayers that you won't lose power or internet or have any storm-related issues.  |
Annie
Do hope that you got your finger looked at. It's going to be sore for awhile. I'm so happy for you and Curtis. Mel There's hope that Irene will turn and go to sea. I'm glad that you are prepared. Now the big boss is giving orders. Did you ask for a riase. Michelle I've had trouble with some of the antibiotics giving me yeast infections especially high dosages. You and DH have a nasty bout with lung problems this go around. Laura Sorry to hear about bf mother's car. Feel better soon. ------ I mentioned yesterday that I was to pick up my check today at 4 p.m. Well it was yesterday at 4. They brought it to me at 7.15 and I was still in bed. It took me awhile to get to the door cause I had to reset the alarm. It wasn't thirty minutes later that my neighbor came to borrow money from me. I told her I didn't have it that I hadn't been to the bank. Then she asked if she could meet me somewhere. I told her no. How manhy times do I have to tell her NO. Need to make a couple of phone calls, pack and wash the car. Don't think I'll get it all done but I'll try. |

CEEJAY I AM WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST FOR A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND. HOPE THE TIME WITH THE FAMILY ISNICE AND YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT CELEBRATION :hb: :gift:  :balloons: SAFE TRAVELS TO PARAGOULD. HOPE THE NEIGHBOR GIVE YOU A BREAK AND FINDS SOMEONE ELSE TO LEND HER FUNDS. GOOD FOR YOU STICKING TO YOUR GUNS!!! YAY!!! GLAD YOU GOT THE CHECK BUT SO EARLY?!?!? HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! |
Howdy chicks,
Watching the weather channel and hoping the best for you Mel. Sent you a PM with my phone number. Call me and let me know how you are doing and I will call you back so you don't have a long distance bill. I'm sure you are in the middle of everything there. Did they give you a hard hat and official sash? Make sure the hard hat has a strap on it, I hear it will be windy. I'm glad they are going gung ho on the preparations. Was talking to my cubemate who's brother is in Manhattan. Said that while the storm might only last 12 hours, it could knock things out for days. Don't see how NY can function without a subway. I am praying that all will be well with you, Jen and your building. I looked you up on Google Maps and you are quite close to the water :yikes: Annie  I'm so sorry about your poor finger. Did you break anything? It's almost painless until you see the blood, then the wave hits you and knocks you off your feet. Can't even put an ice pack on it as that makes it throb worse. I am thrilled that you and Curtis like the simple life. It's great that he likes to walk. It's a wonderful way to gently get to know each other as you pass the time together. Sending you some healing love girl. :grouphug: and some tolerance for the crazy drivers on the road. I told DH they were driving the Friday crazies and it was only Wednesday! Can't imagine how bad it would be if we had to evacuate... And we haven't buried St. Joseph yet - I have my Dad's statue. We will bury him when the For Sale sign goes up. Ceejay - happy birthday eve :hb: :bday2you: :celebrate: I hope you have a fun filled weekend and that those around you make you feel special. At least you won't have to battle monsoon rains and high winds to get around  I can't believe your neighbor the mooch. Goes to show you, no good deed goes unpunished. Tell her the bank is CLOSED. Geez :dunno: Laura - as I told the nurse vigorous exercise will have to count as in packing boxes, vacumning and continuously cleaning up. I have no time to exercise. Work, pack, sleep. Wake up, rinse, repeat. Yikes on the BF's mom's car. And I hear that VW people are very loyal because of the good rep on the cars. But I guess you can get a not so great dealership for service. Hope it won't be too costly for her. I have never been out to McHenry in all the years I took the train. Crystal Lake was as far as I ever got. Is it pretty and still country or is it all built up now? The not so happy kids going to school reminds me of one of the best TV commercials ever for Staples as the Dad shops for school supplies with Andy Williams singing "It's the Most WONDERFUL time of the year" in the background and the kids have the most awful scowls. :lol3: I was sitting in the doctors office on Monday talking to a 3rd grade teacher who was correcting spelling tests. She said that it's really hard teaching - kids only want something that is fast, easy, fun and the outcome is determined. Said they don't want to think the ending for themselves. I felt sorry for her, even tho she said she didn't have it so bad - high school was far worse. Hope you enjoy your night to yourself. Michelle - now that you mentioned migraines I remembered how you used to get them so badly. Have they eased up for you somewhat? Sorry the antibiotics made you ill - some of this stuff is just super strong I think. And then you are like... well on top of everything else what can I take to settle my stomach??? Hope you are doing better today. No, I am not going with DH. I felt badly about it but I am almost out of vacation time and we still have a fair amount of the year to go yet. I would be up the creek if something came up and I was out of time. So we talked it over, while DH would appreciate the company, he is being very understanding. He will run the load up there and fly back. It saves us almost 1,000 dollars on airfare for me as well as boarding the cat for a week. I hope you and DH are feeling good enough to tackle the lawn this weekend. It's a hassle and yet you can't let it go too long. Just take your time - I'm sure fatigue will let you know when you need to take a breather. Shad - are you getting a little r&r in before you have to take off next week? Your post about your breakfast had me drooling for some sun warmed tomatoes fresh from the garden. Yum! Hope you have a good trip. Do you have to drive far from the airport? I assume you are flying to the mines. It looks like we might have another very expensive repair on our hands. I am sick over it and so is DH. He is ready to give the house away and say heck with it. :( I think I am going to take one of my happy pills in the morning. Was going to take it tonight but figured I'd waste it sleeping. I finally got over the bad dreams that were interrupting my sleep only to trade them in for sinus drip. I JUST fall asleep and wake up with the choking cough that wakes us both up. It lasts for at least 20 minutes, I keep drinking water and all that does is wake me up an hour later to go to the bathroom. We have to come up with some other theme for the thread - this awesome, wonderful, joyful trotting, etc just ain't working for us!!!!! We have a week and a half to come up with September's theme. I'll think on it as I'm drifting off to sleep. Have a good weekend ladies. Hold the fort down Mel :rain: |
Not only is it raining, it is piddling down here. DS2 is happy with that because he has to work tomorrow (Sunday) and gets extra money for being up power poles in the rain.
I've been fairly busy today and achieved a lot in the house, even got to clean some windows and brother did they need it. Will do some more tomorrow if it is still raining. The washing is done and dry, I have one more load to fold up and put away and we are done with that. The floor is swept, the bed is changed and I am about to sit and watch the news with a glass of wine and eat prawns and mango. Does it get much better than that? Oh yeah there is footy on tonight - NZ v Aust. Go you good thing. Fly out to Mudgee on Monday. Flight to Sydney, then flap your wings type plane to Mudgee. 15kg of weight isn't much and I think I will be opting for the layered look and steel caps on the plane. That should be fun. Happy - don't know that TN is that far behind us. We only have 4 days of August left not a week and a half. We will think up a hopeful but not overly optimistic title for September. Let's work on it. Who has found a new problem with the house now. It seems to me that trouble seems to be inventing itself in your place. Try doing what every one else would do and do a dodgy patch on it. Annie - You are going to have to start watching where you put those fingers. It must be sore. You may even lose the nail if you are not careful. Ceejay, hope you have a happy birthday with the family around, travel safe. Glad you told the neighbour where to get off. You are not a bank, you don't look like a bank and they need to get to work and earn their own money and stop trying to wheedle your hard earned out of you. Mel - Hope it all goes away before it gets to you but if it doesn't then get inside, sit tight, hang on and hope. Nothing much else you can do. If you have a thermos flask, might be a good idea to fill it with hot water for drinks etc. Michelle - hope you are feeling better today and that the horrid nausea has gone. Okay, time to get that last load out of the dryer and put it away, get my wine, watch the news and get on with the footy. Go NZ go. |

Just a quick post this morning....
Ceejay - Wishing you a very Happy Birthday and a wonderful birthday weekend! Enjoy your visit with the aunt, uncles and your sister! Mel - Stay safe, my dear sista. I hope the winds calm down even further, and that the storm isn't as bad as they're predicting.  |
Just wanted to add...but it wouldn't let me edit my post. :dunno:
I am feeling better...the nausea has gone and my chest isn't quite as tight. Happy - bummer that you can't go with DH, but I understand about it being so much more expensive if you went...plus, you don't want to fall short on vacay days. I don't get migraines very much anymore...just a few times per year...usually due to dramatic weather fluctuations. Shad - I hope DS2 stays safe on the wet power poles. Good on ya for getting so much accomplished around the house! I sure could use your energy (or Annie's for that matter). We watched some pre-season football on TV last night too. Green Bay Packers versus the Indianapolis Colts. We only watched the first half because after that they put the 2nd and 3rd string players in as a pre-season tryout to see if they'll make the team. The prawns, mango and wine sound yummy! |

And I have totally lost track of time so yes, the end of the month is mid week next week. I don't know where I am any more :dizzy: I suggest The Worldy Chicks say to September Pizz off You Bloody Lout! |
and Mel I am not going to chastise you for drinking Starbucks (only one I hope) only because you get a pass if a hurricane is making it's way towards you :D
|
Happy Birthday Ceejay :hb: I apologize for not posting a nice graphic but I have packed away my id and password for my graphics account and none of my email accounts seem to be working. :(
I hope you have a great celebration with the family. Mellie - stop your spitting NOW - isn't there enough moisture in the air :lol3: Sending you good wishes to weather the storm. Seems like Irene is about to say Goodnight. I have a busy day ahead - better get on with it. Happy weekend chicks. |

WISH WE ALL KNEW HOW ANNIE IS DOING. |
OMG Mel - that smilie hanging on to the palm tree is TOO funny. I'm glad we can laugh. Seriously tho I just checked the news - 20 inches of rain in North Carolina. That's serious. I don't think it was wrong at all for them to be so overly prepared. I'm hoping it dies down as it heads up the coast. What a freaking mess. Was nice of you Mel to offer up the empty apartment. Better that than to crack heads and ignorant grandchildren of tenants. The thing that gets me is some people will risk their lives over stupid people that poo poo'd the warnings in the first place. Miss Mel - don't you DARE be drinking 6 Starbucks. I will have to send Annie with her sore hand out to slap those bottles out of your hand. If she's gimpy you might have a chance to get away from her but she might bring Curtis with her for back up and I don't think any of us stand a chance against someone strong enough to walk the Grand Canyon  So let that be a warning Missy - remember what that can do to your peepers :nono:
DH broke down today over this whole bloody house mess - and nothing ever gets him down. I told him we will find a way out of it. We put our heads together and have some options to try. Then he noticed the pool pump had stopped. Again, we put our heads together, he is off to the store hoping it is just a 20 dollar part and not a $6,000 filter replacement. We can't take too much more - stress or financial. Ok, it's 3pm and I haven't packed a single box yet. Better get busy. |
Thank you Mel for finding me a good graphic for Ceejay's Birthday :hat:  to both of you chicks. Oh heck, everyone take a hug!
|
After spending several hours on website work and sending off a bill, I'm relaxing now. DH's head and chest are still congested. And I'm pretty tired. He offered to grill out. He's having a hamburger, I am having a bratwurst.
Mel- just called you and left a message. Hope you are doing ok, and that Jen and Richie got back from the trailer ok. Good idea to offer up the empty apartment to the office person. Hope you all are safe, my friend. Happy - so sorry to hear that your DH is getting down too. I hope the pool repair is a cheap, easy fix. Everything will work out for you....just hang in there. I am glad you can see options to help your situation. Sending you both lots of :goodvibes: and   |
Morning all,
Mel, I am checking the news regularly and hoping for the best for you. Keep your head down and think happy thoughts. Not Happy thoughts since her head is in a whirl and she is not thinking straight right now. Yes and I told her that when I phoned her this morning. DS2 has gone to work - well I think he has, he didn't come home last night and it is a gloriously sunny day - so no extra pay for him. He will be spitting tacks when he gets home eventually. Michelle - glad to hear that you are getting better and over the crud. I didn't eat the prawns and mango last night since I got involved with the football and damn it all we lost!!!! $%^$^%^&^&^*^(*()#@$%^% I was yelling at them so bloody loud, I don't know how they didn't hear me. Ceejay - Hope your birthday is a good one with all the family. Should be a good celebration with the couple of birthdays you have to celebrate. Have a great day. Happy - just remember, we are all here pulling for you. Do not overdo either the renovations or redecorations, regardless of what the realtors say, you won't get the money back. Happy and I have a new title thread sorted. However you are all going to have to wait until September to figure it out. It's a Scottyism. Don't know if I can explain it in plain print either. Right - one more coffee - and then I am off to get some new pillows for the beds, the ones on them now are old and stained and grotty looking. Some fresh new sanitised ones might help to alleviate the sinus problems we both have from time to time. Then the garden, finish packing, weigh the case and decide whether I have to wear the dreaded steel caps on the plane or not. I will probably have to wear two days worth of clothes. |
Shad - hope you have a great Sunday! I love buying new pillows. Bummer that your team lost last night. Good luck with the packing and planning what to wear on the plane. You have me curious about the thread title for September. All I can say is September is my birthday month and it dang well better be a good month for ALL of us.
My chest is still tight today, and DH's lungs and head are still messed up so I didn't mow today. DH said he will mow tomorrow, and I told him no way. I will or it won't get done. |
Mel - hope all is well by you & that Jen & rich made it back safely. Take care!!
Shad - safe travels , if not comfy in your steel toes & multiple layers. Happy - :crossed: that the repair is inexpensive! Chin up & hang in there. Michelle- feel better, & same for dh. Take it easy. Ceejay - :hb: :hb: :hb: Annie- how's the hand?? Hope it's getting some TLC from someone & you're feeling no pain. Last night was a dog walk, then tv. Today was a circuit class, a load of laundry, hair Appt, the gathering at bf's sis's house, a dog walk, then dinner. Watching psych right now- love that silly show. Mel, feeling guilty for enjoying the gorgeous weather here while you're preparing for a hurricane there. If only mother nature would take a chill pill and just give us ALL some tranquil weather!! |
GOOD MORNING CHICKIES
ALL IS WELL IN MY TOWN. NOT SO GOOD FOR OTHERS. THE BACK END IF THE STORM IS JUST HITTING US NOW. THANK GOD I LIVE UP HIGH. BELOW ME IS LOOKING AT A 4-8 FOOT SURGE. THE MAYOR CAME LAST NIGHT AND THE BIG BOSS WAS ON THE PHONE. WHEN HE CALLED ME BACK THIS MORNING, I WAS ALREADY DRESSED AND DOWNSTAIRS. THEY CAN'T CATCH ME UNAWARES!!  HE TOLD ME I WAS THE ONLY ONE UP & DRESSED BESIDES HIM. WE CAN RELAX AFTER 12 NOON AND THEN WAIT FOR THE SUN. HOPEFULLY WE WON'T BE ADDED TO THE LIST OF 400,000 PEOPLE ALREADY WITHOUT POWER. BUT OUR LITE COMPANY SAID ITHEY MAY TURN IT OFF FOR REPAIRS IF NECESSARY INTERMITTANTLY.. I AM FULLY CHARGED UP AND READY TO GO. :scooter: NOW I AM OFF TO EAT BREAKFAST AND MAYBE A DVD TILL MY BOBBY GETS HERE......NOW THAT'S EYE CANDY!!!:belly: HAVE A SUPER DAY:moped: HAPPY......WHEN I GOOGLED WINDY AND FOUND THE HANGING SMILEY I CRACKED UP FOR 5 MINUTES!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS CLIPART AND WHEN I CLICKED ON IT IT BECAME ANIMATED:rofl:  I MUST KEEP HIM IN CASE HE IS EVER NEEDED AGAIN. :lol3: WE WERE ALL LAUGHING ABOUT IT WHEN I EXPLAINED TO SOME SENIORS WHAT I DID. I THINK THEY LIKE THAT "THEY"RE ON THE COMPUTER. LITTLE DO THEY KNOW:lol3: I WISH THERE WAS HUMOR I COULD SEND TO YOU & DH RIGHT NOW. NOTHING WORSE THAN CONTINUALLY TRYING TO GET MOVING FORWARD AND GETTING A MILLION ROADBLOCKS AND DETOURS. JUST KNOW OUR BEST THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU  LAURA.....I AM GLAD YOU ARE ENJOYING THE WEATHER. OURS WILL BE GREAT THE MINUTE IRENE PACK UP AND LEAVES. :sunny: YOUR SATURDAY SOUNDED FILLED TO THE BRIM! hope the gathering and dinner was nice. MICHELLE....NO ONE SHOULD BE MOWING!!
