Mel - how nice of the TJ's "kids" to get stuff for you!! Baked Ziti sounds really yummy!! Now that you have food in the fridge, freezer and cabinets, just relax and "go traveling" via DVDs.

SOME HOW I HIT A KEY AND LOST MY ENTIRE POST:tantrum:
LET ME JUST SAY I READ EVERYONE'S POSTS AND SENDING HUGS AND GOOD THOUGHTS FOR HOUSE SALES, HEALING FEET, GOOD WEATHER, HAPPY WORK WEEKS EVEN WITH BAD BOSSES, JOB HUNTS AND DR APPOINTMENTS

SORRY BUT TOO TIRED TO TYPE IT ALL OVER AGAIN:moped:

Laura705 08-04-2011 05:06 PM

This morning it felt like the week had flown by, but now it feels like it s/b Friday! Probably because it's a gorgeous day outside and I wished I didn't have to go back to work. Oh well...plenty to do so it's best it isn't Friday. The boss will work from home tomorrow, so that's something.

Shad - How does your hair look? The boss came back today with a new shade - before she'd been gray, and now it's sort of a gingery brown. Hmmm. I'm a very dark brunette right now, but I'm having my salon gal very gradually get me back to medium brown, which is my natural color.

Annie - Great deal on the diapers. Whenever you hear about free diapers for life contests I always think that must come to some big $$ - and I'm sure they aren't counting adult diapers when someone hits their "golden years", snicker. Sorry the AC isn't an easy fix. You better get "you and your little dog too" over to dd's place to stay cool!!! Sorry to hear about the loss of the good boss and now reporting to the bad one. BOO!! Sorry, just had to laugh at the dropped cupcakes. :lol3:

Happy - Sorry the job leads fell through. I had lunch w/ our dept's former manager yesterday and she's working w/ an outplacement firm and doing a lot of networking. Sounds like it's going to be a long road for her. Well, I guess this situation is motivating you as far as the home selling thing goes, so at least there's that...hang in there!!

Michelle - Good way to start out the day. I wish I could get my workouts over and done with in the early AM so they don't have the constant conflicts with "life", but it's just too hard (whine). Oh, yeh, the news is always reporting on the latest deep-fried something being sold at the fairs, and it never appeals to me. But you mentioned corn on the cob - yummmy! Love it! I forget exactly how much rotisserie chicken is at Costco, but I want to say it's either $4.99 or $5.99, and a great deal compared to the puny ones sold at our local supermarkets.

Mel - So nice the TJ kids helped you out in Willy's absence! Smart to just start w/ small portions and see how it goes w/ the "adult food". Take care m'dear. :)

Well, I just learned that one of the individuals from a vendor we work with has been terminated. Not happy - I liked her and she was handling one of our projects. Now we'll have to deal almost solely with someone with whom I have no rapport because this person tends to lecture and talks a lot but says little, if you know how that goes.

That's about it. Going to an exercise class tonight. :exercise: I have to miss Saturday because I have a dentist appointment. :tantrum:

Shad 08-04-2011 05:33 PM

Morning all,
Better post something before my get up and go, gets up and goes - if you know what I mean.
Worked very hard yesterday and got a lot done which is a bonus, but there will still need to be stuff done today and no doubt Monday will bring a whole new set of problems. I have every intention of leaving here at least an hour early tonight.

Happy - Hope something comes of all the hard work and soon. I can't offer much advice on the work front, however have you tried the temping agencies? There comes a time when you have to try every avenue. I've been through that and now don't have to do it at the moment. Not to say we won't have to do it again.

Mel - happy food. Hope it went down well and you are set to join the adult human race again. DO NOT OVEREAT regardless of how good it tastes. Why shouldn't the staff run around and get things for you. It is called SERVICE.

Laura - hairdo is good - at least it was last night. My hairdresser has just set up in business with a friend and her salon only opened last night. I was their first late night customer and I came bearing champagne. K was not allowed to drink any until after my hair was cut  Anyway, this morning it looks pretty good which is fortunate as I have no talent with hair.

Michelle - sometimes we just have to have a bit of downtime. The brain gives out or the body shouts no. We should listen to it, but because of our reliance on our jobs we have to soldier on.

Annie - Shame about the cupcakes, but these things happen. Come on down, I need digging done, concreting done, and I am going to hire a ditch witch shortly. You can clean out the roof cavity and curl up with the cat at night.
Samantha may not have to worry over big babies. My ex's family had big babies - I mean big. The smallest that I know of was 9lb 10oz and the biggest over 14lbs. I was freaking, but my guys ended up at 7.15 and 8.5 so it doesn't necessarily follow and the other thing that doesn't necessarily follow is that the big babies grow up big. The aforementioned 14 pounder didn't end up more than 5' 4" and weighed in hob nails about 130lbs.+

Any way - apologies to those I have missed. I'll be back. Better go strike a blow for retirement.

annie175 08-04-2011 07:49 PM

OMGoodness ladies...it is 1043 degrees in this house...I have all the windows and doors open with my two LITTLE fans going....talk about roasting...97 degrees out but supposed to get down to about 67 tonight...that means I will only toss and turn till about 1 am. Yeah!! Hella B looks at me like I have lost my mind..little does she know that it was gone long ago. I am calling the AC man tomorrow...don't know how I am going to pay for it, but **** I don't care. They will get what they get....

Isn't that something....I quit CVS and my AC goes out.....I have the luck of a homeless person. Hey, maybe I will stand on the exit ramp by my house and beg money....lol

I bought Megamillion and Powerball tickets for the office and one each for myself...now only if I have the winning numbers....please dear God, hear my prayers....I promise to share with all my sincere friends and the churches. I just want to pay off bills and make as many people as possible secure! AMEN. Now all you pray that prayer.......this is a chain keep it going...hahaha...but really pray!

Shaddie....I know what you mean about your get up and going, getting up and gone before you know it.....I have that trouble every day. If only I had the $$ I would be there in an instant...I would love to run the ditch witch....my x was in construction and know exactly what you are talking about. Concrete, sure...I know how to make handprints in the wet crete. digging...only if you supply the ritas. I am all yours, my adventurous sista...sleep well and dream the good stuff.

MELLIE...dang it, I hate it you lost your post cause they are so entertaining. Please try not to do that again. You keep me laughing and happy. I love ya my sista and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONTH TO YOU!!! Party all month long...you deserve it.

Laura...I love the reference to Wizard of Oz....your little dog too!! As in the 4th grade I play the wicked witch which I have mentioned before on here...Ya HAHA...lol. Funny thing about those cupcakes...everyone "kind of" thanked me but those cupcakes have about 3" of icing so it only eliminated about 2" of icinig. Still very fattening...believe it or not the silly saps I work with ate the cupcakes anyway, even tho they looked like a diaster...Glad you got to exercise tonight....do a little for me each time...maybe I will tone up via virtual exercising. I look like a fat, glob, of wrinkly gunk.

Chelle...keep up the great exercise routine...glad you did the lazy river thing, it sounds like more fun than exercise to me, I would probably like it....I bet you MIL will be back before she is scheduled...I really believe she likes living with you all better. ****, I like living with you all better and I am not really there.

Heys to the rest of yuns.....

love and hugs.

annie175 08-04-2011 07:52 PM

Shad 08-04-2011 11:18 PM

happy2bme 08-05-2011 08:29 AM

Good morning peeps of the World,

Geez, on top of everything else the stock market is crashing. Dear God, how much more can we take???? Poor DH is having a rough go of things too. Trouble and worry are our best friends lately. I guess this is a good opportunity to learn how to live on pennies a day. 'nuff said about that. Glad it's Friday.

Mel - I loved the graphic. Thanks for the prayers - I totally understand what you mean about giving it up to God. Sometimes you have to just quit fretting and trust that things will resolve themselves  I didn't realize until you posted about the baby food - you are recovering nicely with the tummy - just remember to lay off the booze and the BBQ  Annie had me 3 ways to :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: about the birthday month too because I THOUGHT you were right before me and Shad. Oh that Annie :nono: :D She just wants to see if we are on our toes. I'm glad the people helped you out at TJ's. Why wouldn't they? I'm sure you are a welcome friendly face there.

Shad - DH tried the temp agency route with about 4 of them - they are only interested in you if they can immediately place you and make money off of you. Companies are sitting on their cash right now and cutting way back on spending so the agencies are filled with candidates and no jobs. Might have to check out being a check out chick once again. (My first job ever at Sears - check out chick extroardinaire - could have had a long and illustrious career if I could have survived on $1.05 a hour wages  ) But thanks for the suggestion anyhow... Glad you hair came out good. You need one of those wash, shake, go styles. Or just pull it back in a ponytail like some people do in the office. Except one should not wear a pony tail after the age of 40. Enjoy your weekend - you got a head start on the rest of us.

Annie - I am blowing really hard in your direction (and turned the fan on high too) to blow those dark clouds away from you. I'm so sorry about the extra house expenses. Wishing you some extra cash from somewhere... I had to laugh about the dropped cupcakes - it's not that it's funny - just some days you have to :dunno: and say WHAT ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did look up Gigi's and darn if they don't have a storefront right by my grocery store down the street. Good thing I am not a fan of icing. But the cake flavors looked heavenly. Maybe I will try one the day before we move out of here  I hope things go better for you - saying some extra prayers for you

Laura - what can I say about the vendor rep other than they always get rid of the good people. I think the schmoozers and schemers are the only ones who get to hang around anymore. We are top heavy with management in our place and there are several shining examples of "how the heck did they get a job?????". I hope you can get in enough classes to make your passport worthwhile. Did you find anything you want to stick with going forward?

Michelle - hope you had a productive and restful day off yesterday. Shame you had to take it mid week and work today and this weekend. That's right - I forgot about vacation and having to place the pups. Boarding costs as much as a nice room for us! I hope your work gets over quickly and you have some relax time. I'm glad you clarified that you have a rider mower. Here I was thinking you were doing a push one - even a power mower and I was wondering HOW your back tolerated it!

Ok girls - I am giggling over the price wars of the Worldlies for Rotisserie chicken. Waiting on your bid Michelle... Ceejay - did you run to the store yet????

Ok, I have to go feed Mr. Feral, check the pool filter pressure and get on with the day. Have a good one chickies.

diyana 08-05-2011 08:55 AM

Happy Friday/Saturday ladies -

I'm so very glad it's Friday, though it will be a busy one for me. Work, then meet with website client, then working this evening and early tomorrow morning as my reports are being implemented. The rest of tomorrow will be at the fair enjoying all the animals and summer fun. Then Sunday it's website work...finishing up on the big website redesign so I can invoice it and then move on to other clients' work. Don't worry ladies, I am making time to eat right, exercise and enjoy the lovely summer weather we're finally getting!!

********************
Laura - Yesterday was gorgeous weather up here too. Hopefully it will be like that all weekend. :) Glad your boss is working from home today. I really, really, really need to get my hair colored soon. Maybe later this month or early next month. Time and $$ are at a premium right now. I wish I could workout in the morning before work every day...but I wake up at 4 and don't really like the idea of getting up even earlier, so morning workouts only happen on days off. What exercise class did you get to last night?

Shad - I love having those productive days...doesn't happen as often as I'd like unfortunately. So nice that you brought champagne to celebrate your stylist opening her new business. Any good weekend plans?

Annie - I wish I lived closer. You and Hella could've stayed at my house. I'm definitely praying the Megamillions and Powerball prayer too. Walking the lazy river is fun...and very refreshing. I wish I could do it today...but my website client needs to meet with me. :tantrum: :tantrum:

Mel - Glad you got a good night's sleep! Maybe I should use the "remember the pain" mantra to keep me out of the kitchen! I really believe that the lesson for me this year is "patience" as well. I'm learning to be patient with my body, with my weight loss, with nearly everything. Patience has never been my strong suit.

Ceejay - Hope you had a great time at the concert!

Happy - I hope DH feels better soon. What's this about not wearing a pony tail after the age of 40? I don't know if I've ever heard that one. I wear a pony tail nearly all the time when I'm not at work. Just makes it easier to run errands or go places when I don't feel like curling my hair.

Gotta get some work done...talk to ya' later, my friends!

Lots of love and hugs,

Laura705 08-05-2011 11:11 AM

Morning all. TGIF!!

Shad - That sounds like a fun hair appointment! Best wishes for the success of your friend's new business.

Annie - Hoping the $$$ for the AC repair find you somehow. :crossed: Or - whose idea was a trade/barter? Mel, I think it was you. Good idea - make some of your meals, offer up gardening help, etc. :D In the meantime - don't you have a basement where you can cool off?

Mel - With the exercise and no storms I've been sleeping well the past few days too - it's what a body needs!! Love the graphic this morning - very cute. :)

Happy - You hit the nail on the head with the termination of the vendor person - she wasn't a good-looking schmoozer. And the way they did the termination was sneaky too... This company has good people, and we use people from both the Chi office as well as their other offices, but I really hate the way the Chi office is run... No ponytails after 40? Again I'm a fashion scofflaw - that's my usual 'do in this hot weather - and espec. right now, since I'm not liking this haircut much.

Michelle - Busy weekend coming up for you!! Hope everything goes smoothly with your report implementation & the website work and you enjoy your time at the fair. :moo: :ink: :chicken: I went to the Freemotion Circuit class last night. There were no newbies in class, so the instructor kept more tightly to the 30-second circuit intervals. Surprise - we finished early, lol. Oh, I don't have a terry headband anymore, but I have two terry wristbands, so I wore those. Not that great. I'll continue w/ the hand towels.

Hellos to Ceejay and Ellen!!

Nothing much to report. Just doing the math re the circuit class - 16 intervals @ 30 seconds each - 8 minutes, x 3 complete circuits=24 min, plus about 5 min track time, 5 min warmup, 10 min cooldown... about 45 min, but have to build in cushion for the extra bits between each interval, etc ...guess that brings us to the usual hour.

This weekend is a dental appt on Sat morning and a 50th b-day party for a friend's gf on Sat. evening. That party has a tropical theme, but the dress I'm wearing isn't very tropical, so I will wear either my parrot earrings or my tropical fish earrings - or one of each, lol. Sun. is bf's b-day and we're finally going to use a gift card we have for a nice Italian restaurant. Happy - it's Francesca's Tavola in Arl. Hts. Never been there. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy bf a gift card to "The Art of Shaving" which sells shaving products and also has a "barber spa". He's always wanted one of those fancy shaves w/ the hot towel, etc. There's one in Woodfield Mall, so it'll be very convenient.

With the install of my new handlebars, bf has determined the cables have to be changed out because they are too short for these handlebars. May not be cycling this weekend. :( :bike:

Okay, enough rambling. :blah: Have a good weekend everyone!
:flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1: :flow1:

annie175 08-05-2011 02:36 PM

Afternoon.

Took Linda to Seasons 52 for lunch as this was her last day-she got caught up in the RIF (reduction in force)...YUM....all the entrees are 475 cals or less. I had scallops, grilled aspargas and baby spinach salad. Carrot cake for dessert which came in a double shot glass. Perfect size...you can bet it wasn't 475 or less calories.

Laura...this sounds like a math story problem to me....lol...."Nothing much to report. Just doing the math re the circuit class - 16 intervals @ 30 seconds each - 8 minutes, x 3 complete circuits=24 min, plus about 5 min track time, 5 min warmup, 10 min cooldown... about 45 min, but have to build in cushion for the extra bits between each interval, etc ...guess that brings us to the usual hour." I do not have a basement....used to when I was married, but not now.

MELLIE....I know just the trade of which you speak on the AC...he would end up owing me...hahahaha ;) AC repair coming on Monday...yikes scares the H out of me on cost, don't know what it is yet, but you can bet your sweet arse it won't be cheap. Glad you got your TJs goodies and all in. Oh h*ll, I know your BD is in March, my eyes jumped a line on my list and I picked up Ceejay's date....see there you go...blonde.

Chelle...you have a busy weekend coming up but also some play time...that is good for the soul. Remember to be careful with your back and don't over do it. Don't eat the crazy crap at the fair, just think of the weightloss rewards of next week when you do so well.

Happy...just a few more days of fan blowing my way...repairman is coming on Monday. If it is too expensive I hope he will work out a payment plan for me. dang it anyway. I think Gigi's cupcakes are more pretty than tasty. Remember girl...one day at a time...do not worry for tomorrow as it may never come.

Oh and Shaddlet...no curling up with the cat, I am allergic to cats. My eyes would be swollen shut, head pounding and sneezing my arse off. Thing is, every time I am around cats, they just want to love on me. Won't leave me alone. Little boogers. Have a marvelous Saturday!!

Hey to Ellen and Ceejay.

Last day at CVS tomorrow....whew who...that was a fast 2 years, yep, August 8 will be two years I have worked there.

Loves and hugs

annie175 08-05-2011 04:53 PM

Good News Girls...the house was only 500 degrees tonight when I got home. Could actually breath and stand it. Getting ready to head to sissy's house to get my mop chopped!! I look like a rag-a-muffin.

Did I mention tomorrow is my LAST day at CVS? Oh yeah, I did....so happy....altho will actually miss it. I am so screwed up about a lot of things....

Later gaters....

Shad 08-06-2011 06:29 AM

Good day today,

Housework done, friends dropped, gardening done, washing in and folded up.
NZ All Blacks beat the Australian Wallabies in footy. Life is sweet.

However, I have a cold in the nose and I need to go to bed. I'll be back in the morning.

No time for personals today....we're getting ready to go to State Fair. It's going to be a long, but fun day. :) I had a great weigh in today....229.0 !! I'm out of the 230's!!!

That alone has given me incentive enough to avoid ALL the fattening fair foods, including the cream puff that the Wisconsin State Fair is so famous for! And they ARE sooo good. But I'm not going back to the 230s, not even for a cream puff.

Wishing y'all a fabulous weekend!!!

Luvya,

Shad 08-06-2011 05:13 PM

Just read through yesterdays post. Friends dropped!!!!:yikes: Haven't got enough of them to drop any. I really meant friends dropped in.

Up early this morning. Truth is that I really did not sleep too well at all and was awake at various stages of the night. Some very strange noises during the night and the wee dog next door barked several time and he never usually barks. Nothing seems amiss from around my yard, so hopefully everything is still where it was. It seems gates and locks are no deterents to the low life we breed here.

Weather looks like rain today which might figure since yesterday I spent a lot of time watering the yard. I'd better get to digging the area for the block wall before it does decide to precipitate.

Laura - hope you had a nice time wining and dining the birthday boy and that he enjoys his 'close shave'.

Michelle - enjoy the fair and congratulations on the weight loss. Good stuff.

Annie - I've been looking for you on face book lately but haven't seen you there while I've been there there. Hope the a/c is fixable and you come down from 1000 degrees to a sultry 40.

Happy - guess you are head down and a%% up in the closets. Hope you get all stuff done and packed this weekend. I guess the DH is away on his trip north.

Mellie - enjoy those last rays of summer. This is officially our last month of winter and then into Spring. Not that one notices too much difference here. It's either nice and warm with cool nights or bloody hot all of the time.

Well the news is out and the stock market has fallen yet again in various parts of the world. Guess my superannuation is going backwards again. I may have to take it over from the banks and insurance companies. I'd have done better over the past ten years to have it in term deposits. It would have at least grown.

So today is what...... more digging, more cleaning of bathroom and bedroom and the ironing of pants for work next week. I'm planning on a weekend off at the end of August just to do nothing but whatever I decide to do for the weekend and then in November, I'd like to take a couple of weeks back in NZ to catch up with family and friends and so some touristy stuff. I think my friend from Melbourne wants to come with me. I'd better think of places to go. Inspiration to be had etc.

Okay, better go get on with the coffee and breakfast and get my a into gear. See ya

ceejay52 08-06-2011 09:06 PM

I've been back home since around 10 a.m. Took a different route and had to follow my nose. The girls from down the street wanted me to take them across town to their brother's. Went to lunch with my friend Brenda. Then went to the grocery and spent 40 dollars for food this week. I've fixed some of my lunches for the next four days.

The concert was great. Johnny Cash's children and his brother was there. His brother and Johnny's voice's were similar but I have to say that Johnny's voice is a deepr bass. Along with Kris Kristopherson(sp) and George Jones. George Jones could still belt out those songs but Kris's voice was about gone. It was Geroge Jones birthday also and we got to sing happy birthday to him. It's going to be an annual event. The proceed's were going to go toward restoration of the family home in Dyess, AR. which is the next community over from where I live. I'm planning on finding out where it's located and go for a tour.

I'll be back tomorrow to post personal's.

Oh and by way, my weigh in at the doctor's office was the same as my scale so that means I've lost 7 pounds from last visit. Most of those pounds are probably fluid pounds but I'll take the lost. July OV was 202, August's visit was 195--woo hoo.

happy2bme 08-07-2011 01:32 AM

Hi there ladies,

Yes, DH took a harrowing trip up north to take a load up. Said he was a nervous wreck and generally nothing bothers him. The trailer was bouncing up and down and he was afraid he was going to lose it or worse, damage my car severely. He made it up to the house ok, worn out and tired as all get out. I feel so badly for him. It's taking it's toll on him already. I think it's good that he has decided that trying to empty this house out in bits and travelling 1500 miles a trip is not a good idea. When he gets back we will have a discussion and decide what we can reasonably get out and into a decent sized truck and that's all that will go out until we sell and move for good. The realtors want the best of everything but it isn't practical. We will definitely get rid of the clutter and whatever extra furniture we can, but I will take their advice with a grain of salt. When we bought this house it was cluttered to the max with antiques as the owner was an avid collector. Every square inch of floor and wall space was covered in stuff. And she had the most horrid taste in paint and garish wallpaper. We over looked that and bought the house for the beauty and features we saw in it and will hope that with all the work we've put into it, someone else will see the same. Did I mention that one of the realtors we interviewed is the same one who represented the sellers when we bought this home :dizzy: She pointed out some of the remodelling they did and it really surprised me with all they put into it. I guess everyone has their own troubles lately - my sister had a flood in her basement a few weeks ago when the sump pump in the basement shorted out and their basement flooded. They lost a brand new treadmill, an exercise bike, lots of boxes of winter clothes and things in storage. I talked to my SIL today and she noticed a tiny damp spot in the basement ceiling near the window. Turns out the entire front of her home has to be torn off and fixed as well as replacing 13 windows. They aren't sure how the damage happened but insurance will not cover it and they cannot tell her the exact cost although it could be between one hundred and two hundred thousand dollars - of which she has to pay out of pocket :yikes: Annie has her air going out, Shad had to deal with flooding damage too and I :crossed: that the rest of you escape any misfortune. So I suppose we all have our crosses to bear as they say... I was hoping to get more done then I actually did today, although I made some good headway. The day just raced by. Although I did have 3 rather long phone calls talking with various family members.

DH and my cousin were rebuilding the steps on the new house today. He said the deck needs alot of work as they were not maintaining it as well as they should. He left his cell phone on the deck (we can receive calls but don't have the signal strength to make outbound). They got some good storms up that way and it started to pour so they went in the house and he forgot about the phone. It got wet. It died. He also killed his other cellphone right before he left by leaving it in the hot car and that one fried. So now he needs to find some "pay as you go" cell phone in a tiny town that doesn't have much more than the basics. :dunno: Lord give us strength.

In other news :congrats: to Ceejay and Michelle on the fabulous weight loss! :yay: for you. Keep up the good work. Michelle it was the cream puffs that I remember you saying you'd save WW points for just to have that one treat once a year. How funny that now you say it's not worth it. So proud of you guys!!!!!

Annie - I hope you are not suffering in the heat yet another day. I think it is ironic that you quit CVS and things break down - but there is always something to sap the money out of the wallet. Hope you can work out a payment plan with the service company. I'm praying you find a money tree sprouting out in the back yard next time you are cleaning back there - just don't pull it out!!! Get a good night's rest.

Ceejay - it's good to hear that the concert went over so well. I thought I saw Kris on tv a while back and thought he had lost his voice too but if they all harmonize together maybe one won't notice. Lost voice and all, they can all probably out sing us! Nice to have an evening out. I hope the girls down the street didn't con you into something you didn't want to do. $40 for groceries for a whole week??? I have to have you do my shopping

Shad - sounds like you had your usual busy weekend. So you have the buggers in the neighborhood too? Sounds like no one is immune. I would never sleep with the windows open on the first floor here. I'm glad it's hot, I have the alarm on, the phone on the night table and the gun right next to it. I figure the alarm will wake me if anyone tries anything funny. I have never liked staying home alone - even as a kid. And the cat is no help either. How nice that you will be able to plan a trip back home (providing the markets don't wipe out all your cash). Your friend is lucky - there's no better tour guide I'd rather have than you. I daresay you could probably do a better job than we could touring the States here  I guess all the worlds' markets are affecting everyone. Makes one wonder where it will end.

Mel - I kind of notice the sun changing positions too and it's a bit sad knowing that summer is marching away even though it is still blazing hot here. So get outside and enjoy it while you can. I'm glad you got outside for a bit to get your vitamin D fix. I love your frosty cool drink graphic. Cheers to you

Laura - what a great idea for the BF's gift. I hope he really enjoys it. Happy birthday BF :hb: I have not heard of that restaurant but it looks quite yummy. Hope you guys had a great dinner. No pasta comas either

It's after midnight - the last load of wash finished so I can toss that in the dryer and head to bed. Have a good night everyone. Good afternoon to you Shad who is halfway through the work day.

I ALMOST HAVE MT. WASHMORE UNDER CONTROL. I KNOW I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS BUT I JUST MIGHT ACCOMPLISH IT THIS TIME!

TICKETS FOR THE YOUNG KIDS TO GO BACK HOME ARE FOR THE 20th I BELIEVE.
JEN & I TRIED TO TALK THE OTHER NIGHT BUT THE CONNECTIONS ARE HORRIBLE UP THERE THIS YEAR.
PLUS MY NEWER PHONE SUCKS BIG TIME.

GOOD THAT YOU HAD SUCH GREAT MOTIVATION TO TAKE TO THE FAIR!!

diyana 08-07-2011 08:53 AM

quick post as I have to get started on website work. I overslept! I'd hoped to be started by 5 or 6 am. Had a great time at the fair....got to pet A LOT of cows and horses. I managed to eat fairly healthy while at the fair...baked potato with chili on it, fruit smoothie, water and diet soda. As we were getting close to leaving I was hungry for dinner...but couldn't find anything that appealed to me. So after we got home, I had a Weight Watchers chicken teriyaki and rice dinner. High in sodium I know...but overall a better choice than deep fried s'mores.

*************************

Ceejay - Glad you enjoyed the concert!! Sounds like a lot of good music. Congrats on the weight loss! That's great!

Shad - I hope you found a little relaxing time after getting all the digging, cleaning, and ironing done.

Happy - I'm so sorry that DH's trip north was so stressful for him. That's a long drive to go solo...especially towing a trailer.

Mel - Sorry to hear about all the residents going back and forth to the hospital. Bummer that you and Jen weren't able to talk on the phone due to bad phone connection. :( We're having a cloudy day today too...and I'm hearing thunder...but so far, no rain. I'd like to get a nice, gentle soaking rain so I don't have to water the flower and veggie beds.

Annie, Laura, Ellen - Hope you're all enjoying the weekend!!!

Love and hugs to all,

happy2bme 08-07-2011 10:41 AM

Good morning all,

Just peeking in to admire Mel's bunny graphic :D

Another hot day for us. I've got a full day ahead of me. One realtor is coming by to give me the full marketing plan she intends to use if we decide to go with her. I think we will. Her company has access to more resources than the other person although they have both been in this business about the same time (a LONG time). I think person number one will give away the farm, our clothes, our wedding rings and our souls to sell this house. I don't think we are ready to go that far yet. And that strategy doesn't seem to be working for the house they have listed down the street at a bargain price. One thing that is different with selling now is that they don't recommend accepting a buyer on contingency that they sell their home before the deal goes through. I suppose that really thins out the buying pool substantially. I am not sleeping well. Keep waking up thoughout the night with dreams of work issues and the house. Like DH said yesterday, I am SO ready for this to be over already. :(

Michelle - glad you had a good time at the fair. Kudos to you for having the will power to resist the tempting foods at the fair. That's the way you lose weight.

Mel - I think the weather will break soon - at least I hope so for your sake. Don't the police know that it's easier to corral a bunch of skittish cats easier than it is to contain the seniors???? :lol3: Apparently his grandma is not old enough yet for him to understand.

Oh well - the buzzer just went off on the dryer and I need to get vacumning the floors. Happy Sunday.

You doing ok Annie????

ceejay52 08-07-2011 12:05 PM

Morning
Happy
You remind me of the HGTV shows. On HGTV the sellers always have to take a drop in price. Hope things go well in that area.

Mel
Bless those seniors. Maybe they go outside to get warm like I do at times.
Yikes on the $344 spent on groceries for the month. Maybe the rain will cool things off. Sure wish we could get a good soaking rain. My cousin looked up Kris K's age and he is 75.

Michelle
The fair in Paragould starts in September. My aunt wants to go so if I am not working I will take her. Glad you had a good time.

Annie
Have you melted???

--------
I hate early morning power outages. Of course the plant was in operation so I hurried downstairs to close the valves while the phone was steady ringing and that makes for a good case of nerves. I had to call my super because I couldn't get the valves closed fast enough. Yep water coming out of the clear well. They're gonna have to remember my age and that I can purge these filters by myself. I have this weird feeling that I'll get a warning but if I do I'm gonna remind them that other operator's do not close the filter's at all. and one senior in the past did not even try. So they better not descriminate (sp)
On with the day of work.

annie175 08-07-2011 04:53 PM

geez oh pete, it is hotter than 3 kinds of **** in this house...Thank GOD the repairman is coming tomorrow....only hope he will take payments instead of a goldmine payment when services rendered.

Saw the movie "Horrible Bosses" last night...omgoodness it was so freakin hilarious...if you do not get to the theaters to see it...rent it...I laughed my arse off. It has vulgar language, but heck it is too funny.....

Not much else going one...me tired...gonna take a nap....

Love and hugs.

MORNING ALL.
I HAVE SOME WORK TO DO TODAY AND A LOAD OF REPORTS.
COMPARED TO SATURDAY, YESTERDAY WAS A BREEZE.
LOTS TO GET DONE AND THEN MAYBE A WASHLOAD.
IT'S BLACK AS NIGHT OUTSIDE AND TWICE AS HOT & HUMID.
THE RAIN HAS MADE IT WORSE THIS TIME. :cry;
EVEN THE LOBBY FLOOR IS TERRIBLE HOT.
I SHOULDN'T COMPLAIN....POOR ANNIE HAS NO A/C.
NOTHING NEW WITH ME. S.O.S. JUST A DIFFERENT DAY!:lol3:
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEK. STAY STRONG!:moped:

HAPPY....HOPING FOR YOUR & DH'S SAKE THAT THIS WILL ALL BE OVER SOONER RATHER THAN LATER:hug; WHEN YOU GO TO SLEEP....JUST KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE. HOLD ON TO THAT THOUGHT. :yoga:

MICHELLE....EATING AT THE FAIR SOUNDED GOOD. I THINK I SMELLED THE HORSES & COWS:lol3: GLAD YOU STAYED STRONG WHILE YOU WERE OUT. GREAT JOB!!

CEEJAY....YOU DID A GREAT JOB DOING THE VALVES. LOOK HOW OTHERS DO IT...OR DON'T DO IT WAS A BETTER DESCRIPTION!!! I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT:hug: I HATE POWER OUTAGES TOO. WE'RE HOPING WE DON'T HAVE ON THIS WEEK WITH THE EXCESSIVE HEAT & RAIN COMBINATION. GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK!! SOME OF THE GROCERIES ALWAYS FIND THEIR WAY UPSTAIRS TO JEN'S APARTMENT AND THE TOTAL INCLUDES ALL WATER AND PAPERGOODS. THE FREEZER IS JAMMED WITH STUFF AND THE CLOSETS FILLED UP. I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE SINCE MARCH!! LOL

ANNIE.....I COULD USE A NAP *& A GOOD MOVIE TO LAUGH AT!! LOL GLAD YOU GOT OUT TO SEE IT AND HAVE FUN. HOPE THE A/C MAN ACCEPTS PAYMENTS TOO. KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT:crossed; GOOD LUCK.

annie175 08-08-2011 08:07 AM

Good Morning Girls..............

I cannot express loudly enough how FN hot it was last night trying to sleep. FINALLY fell asleep around 2, woke up at 4, couldn't sleep so I got up and got ready for work, was here by 6:45 am. I am tired, cranky, and just plain beeee aaaaccchhhyyy. Thank God the repairman comes this afternoon. Not much else going on other than hot hot hot, humid humid humid.

Have a great day ladies, I have to leave at 1 to meet the repairman, so best get at it.

Loves and Hugs.

happy2bme 08-08-2011 08:34 AM

Good morning ladies,

Quick post for me today. With DH away I have to take on his duties one of which is checking on the pool each morning - this morning I found a dead mouse swirling in the skimmer :yikes: No one there to help me but me so I found a cup and scooped it out. No way was I risking touching it. The lawn needs mowing too but I'm not sure I can get the lawnmower started. It's a push style power mower and in the 115 degree heat index I might just leave it for a week - heck the house is not up for sale yet

I did meet with the realtor we decided to go with on Sunday. She recommended very strongly that we get rid of the wallpaper. Even if we didn't do granite counter tops (which people EXPECT - lah dee dah :snooty: ) she said to take the money and get rid of the wallpaper. She even gave us the name of someone reliable (she says). It sure would help DH if he didn't have to paint 5 rooms by himself and climb scaffolding and rip paper and paint 2 floors high. I know he's concerned about the cost but like Annie, we will find a way to pay for it.

Annie - if you are having the heat we do and the stiffling humidity I can't imagine how you could even get 1 hour of sleep. You'd be better off coming in to the cooler office and sacking out at your desk! I hope you can get through the day without falling asleep and that the repairs are not too costly.

I'm late - forgot to set the clock radio alarm back on over the weekend so I will have to catch up with the rest of the crew later. Here's a hug to hold you till then   See yahs...

ceejay52 08-08-2011 08:56 AM

Annie
Here's to hopeing that the a.c. needs a good cleaning and some freon. I don't know how you stayed in the house at all. I went to a hotel room when my a.c. went out last summer. I've asked the land lord to come and check mine.

Mel
I do hope that the power stays on for you and the building. And yes the rain only messes with the heat and humidity--making it worse. The last rain Paragould had you could see the steam coming up from the ground.

Happy
eww a dead mouse!!!! I think I'd hire a crew to come and finish the painting and taking down the wall paper. Have a good day at work.

Laura and Shad
Nothing was said about

me not getting the valves closed all the way this morning. But I did ask the supervisor if I could take the phone off the hook long enough to get them closed. He said yes.
My co-worker was upset this morning with her grown kids. And I couldn't blame her.

Laura705 08-08-2011 11:18 AM

Morning all. Monday already.

Shad – The news with the debt crisis and the market reaction is so troubling. It makes me just want to bury my head in the sand.

Mel – More adorable graphics – very cute bunny and monkey. :) Sorry you had so many alarms over the weekend – and now the reports to file. :write: I like what you said about you and Jen trying to find something to laugh about every day. Words to live by, given the state of the world today. Stay cool today.

Michelle – Sounds like you had a nice time at the fair on Saturday. Congrats on getting out of the 230’s – great motivation to have going into an event with a number of temptations (with the exception of the deep-fried whatevers)!! Sounds like you handled it wonderfully.

Ceejay – Congrats on the weight loss! I doubt it’s all fluid. :goodscale: Yeh, how do you get a week of groceries for $40?? Glad you enjoyed the concert. Good that nothing came re closing/not closing the valves.

Annie – Today is finally the day for the AC repairman – yay!! Hope you can work out a payment plan for the cost of the repair. Maybe all the money you’ve saved in electricity while the AC’s been out will help with it, hahaha. I hope you have operational AC tonight and can catch up on your sleep!!! :dz:  I have to start a list of all the movies I’ve wanted to see but have been missing this summer. Horrible Bosses is one of them.

Happy – So sorry to hear dh had such a horrible drive up north with the trailer. And then to have his cell phone meet its death - not a great trip. :( Hope you work out a plan to remove enough furniture, etc from the house to make the staging more effective – and get it to the other house safely. Like you, bf and I also had to look beyond dated décor and oodles of furniture to see the good points of the house we eventually bought, but things sure are different now… Good luck with the wallpaper, whoever ends up removing it. There was a lot of that in our house, and removing it is the first thing we had done (worth every penny, LOL). Sorry this is such a stressful time for you. Mouse in the pool!!

Hello Ellen! Hope you and the family are doing well and enjoying the last bit of summer break before your kids go off to school.

My weekend was fine. Dentist now has digitized x-rays – he showed me mine on the laptop – thankfully everything’s good in there, bone is holding everything together, no cavities, etc. We talked about how it’s more important than ever to keep our teeth & gums healthy – they have to last a lot longer now that we’re living so much longer! More good news is that he thinks my night guard will last another 10 years. Good to know – Insurance doesn’t cover them and I’ll have time to save up the $$$ for a new one, LOL.

After that, went to the mall to buy bf’s gift card, then back home to do some laundry. The 50th b-day party Sat. eve. was nice. Outdoors, so thank goodness they thought to rent a giant fan to a) keep us comfortable and b) keep the bugs away. :D There was a dj and karaoke and the police were called about the noise - and it wasn't even 8:30 pm??!! Glad they aren't my neighbors...

The party, however, put bf in a funk – as of yesterday, he is one year away from a big milestone bday and not happy about it. Other than that, he commented yesterday on the fact that the b-day girl from the party is getting heavier and had batwings. But what can we do? Women get batwings, guys go bald. Women get cellulite, men get manb00bs... Among other unpleasant results of aging... :dunno:

Anyway, we got home around midnight – not too late - and I woke up at 8:36 am Sunday and managed to make it to a 9 am Zumba toning class. Different instructor (two instructors alternate the Sunday class) and this one didn’t know the routines as well as she could have. I have mixed feelings about that – she should know her stuff, but then again, it lets me off the hook because how can I get it right when she doesn’t, LOL. Doesn’t matter – my heart was pumping and I was sweating like crazy, so I know I got a good workout. :exercise:

More laundry, puttering, a nice b-day dinner, and some reading rounded out the weekend. Bf liked his gift and has already decided he will build up a 3-day beard growth prior to his barber spa shave.

Today has started with the weird TOM headache. :headach: Going to pop some ibuprofen after I post this. That’s enough (well, probably more than enough) for now. TTYL.

diyana 08-08-2011 01:29 PM

Definitely having a MONDAY! I just hope I survive long enough to make it to physical therapy at 2:30...and then Zumba after that. I definitely need to sweat away some stress.

Sorry no personals today.

Love and hugs to all,

annie175 08-08-2011 02:03 PM

Stay Strong Chelle.....AC man where are you...waiting and waiting and waiting................................

Enjoy the fondue tonight!!! Have a great night's sleep in your AC'd house!!!

Shad 08-08-2011 05:09 PM

Morning all,
Short post, on the run, busy as.

Annie - glad it didn't cost too much and that you are enjoying your cool air. Times were that the parts cost more than the labour, but that was a long time ago. With rising transport costs and a rising cost of living, they have to do what they have to do.

Happy - hang in there. Strangely enough, wallpaper is back in vogue over here especially for feature walls etc. Don't mind a bit of wallpaper myself and have been known to do the odd spot of wallpaper hanging over the years even on split level cathedral ceiling houses.

Mel - been on a spree I see, got everything filled up again. Now you will have to eat or declutter. Which will it be?

Michelle - Sounds abit strange, hope everything is okay for you.

Ceejay - Good for you doing the job properly. Good maintenance that.

Laura - glad to hear that all went well with the dentist and that you won't have to replace the night guard for a good while.
I have great difficulty understanding the huge number of people who bemoan their fate just because they reach a certain number in a chronological age. Embrace it all, lets face it, no one has ever managed to get younger yet, only older and sometimes wearier. That's life. As for people getting batwings and baldness etc., have we tried looking in a mirror lately?

Better go and get on with the perplexities of strategy planning and measurement reading lists - another day, another dollar.

happy2bme 08-09-2011 12:25 AM

Oh Annie - I'm soooooo very glad that your a/c repair was so affordable. YAY!!!!! Someone is looking out for you  Hope you are sound asleep all cuddled in a nice soft blanket in a COOL house. :yay:

Shad - are you offering to come over and take down the wallpaper?

I have to try and get some sleep. Just sick over the stock market and worrying about so many things. Maybe we will all wind up in the soup lines. Good thing I make good soup. ;) Night all...

Shad 08-09-2011 04:16 AM

Soup may be all we can afford shortly. Better get that garden growing.
Census night here. Don't let me forget.

diyana 08-09-2011 07:58 AM

Hey ladies -

I'm really sick. My throat is so sore and feels like it's swollen almost shut. I have an awful cough and no voice. I'm going to try and get to the doc today. Summer colds SUCK!

Mel - I'm so sorry to hear about Richie's accident at work! I hope his hand is doing better.

Annie - Glad you got the A/C fixed. That sucks about the high labor charges...but glad the overall bill was relatively low. Hope you had fun at dinner.

Shad - Did you do your census? Yesterday was just the day from **** here. Hopefully today will be better, despite this nasty cold and my lungs full of crud.

The frustrating part is that all I want to do is stay home in bed...but I've got so many high priority last minute reports dumped on my desk that I have meetings every single fooking day this week. I'd better go finish up the reports and the accompanying paperwork.

Sorry for the lack of personals.

Love and hugs to all my worldly friends,

happy2bme 08-09-2011 08:09 AM

Good morning fine ladies of the world,

We are finally getting some much needed rain and with it a blessed drop in temperatures. It's a gentle soaking rain too. Just what we need. Cat is not happy about it, means she will spend the day on the porch but at least she can be outside.

Mel - I guess it's a buyers market on houses and since there are alot of properties and buyers know it's hard to sell, they are being more demanding. Funny that everyone - including Laura said that they overlooked superficial things in their current houses because they had the underlying things they really wanted. Perhaps today's buyers are not the roll your sleeves up, personalize your house kind of people that we are :dunno: With the stock market crashing and everything in turmoil I am really afraid for the future. DH told me that there are flocks of wild turkeys going through the yard - one set of parents had 8 babies. I told him that he better start looking up recipes to cook them (unlike traditional turkeys, these are not the eating kind - skinny and very tough). We were kidding around about not being able to afford food and living off the land. Good thing we like fish as the lakes are well stocked. Not only will I have a large garden Shad, but one of my "toys" on the wish list is a greenhouse so I can extend out the growing season. In fact, just about all my wish list for the new house is things that we can use to save money. ;) Now... if only we can get there.

Mel I hope that you don't get the bright light and the third degree questioning to justify your 58 cents "huge salary" and perks on the job  So ridiculous. Hopefully the audit goes well. OMG - poor Ritchie!!!! can't they catch a break???? I hope the drugs do their thing - 3 fingers infected? Wow. Sitting at a desk job one kind of forgets just how dangerous some work can be. I hope he heals up quickly. Happy pedalling - swing by and I'll make you a nice smoothie.

Shad - interesting Census you have sounding from your post on FB. Glad you were counted among the masses. So what's this ironing of work pants thing? Do you wear khakis or linen type pants? Always hated ironing pants myself.

Annie - hope you woke up all rested and cheerful and ready to take on the world after a good night's sleep in a cool house. Once again I am glad the repair bill was not in the 7 digits and nothing other than a part had to be replaced.

Laura - I agree to take good care of the teeth - especially when you get to the point where the only fix is an expensive crown. AND for every tooth you get worked on, that means the night guard is less and less likely to fit. So brush and floss and if you are blessed with good, strong teeth be grateful :D As for getting older I think men always look at themselves as 20 and hot and don't really want to acknowledge getting older. Everyone else ages but them - sort of like how I look at some of the rock stars of my era - I see them and go geez - you got old. But of course I did too - just don't see it as much. There is a young girl in our area at work. She is in her early 20's. Everything is perky and tight on her - flat stomach, tiny butt, perky chest and she is cute and has nice hair. Sometimes I look at her and think, once upon a time I used to look like that :( and it's a bit melancholy because I know I will never look like that again even if I did get to goal weight. But then I also won't have years of cramps, pimples, learning to adjust life with a significant other and about 45 more years of working ahead of me and that cheers me right up :D :D :D  so after BF gets past his funk, in about 10 more years he will probably still critique the females but be glad he's the age he's at.

Michelle - hope you got your good sweat on yesterday and worked off the stress. Sounds like work is uber busy. Maybe today will be more quiet for you :crossed:

Ceejay - don't you have voicemail at work where people can leave a message while you are out wrestling with the valves? Sounds like you have a pretty physical job.

 Ellen

I should get going now. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I hope the stock market takes back a little bit of a gain while I still have 3 or 4 dollars left. :^:
