Aww Michelle  summer colds ARE the worst. Take some tea and honey to work, pick up some Mucinex on the way in and I'm sorry but I have no recommendations on trying to get over the dead dog tired that comes with being sick. Feel better my friend

Good Morning Chicklets..........
The house is blissful. Slept pretty good, only waking up once, then went right back to sleep. Just wanted to stay in bed all day...as soon as I hit the lottery, none of us chicklets will have to worry about anything again... The Melting Pot was absolutely delish....3 types of cheese fondue. Harvarti/Swiss with a broth base, Cheddar with Beer, and a Mexican Fiesta cheese. We had bread-3 types- and taco chips for dipping. Very tasty. The dessert was 3 types of chocolate fondue...a dark, a turtle and a peanutbutter one, I didn't eat any of that since I don't like chocolate. I did eat some of the strawberries and cheesecake and bananas. My friends granddaughter came with her 2 yr old and newborn, both little angels and good as gold. I got to hold the newborn for about an hour...made my night. It was all yum however I don't think worth the cost. CHELLE...I thought I told you no more colds or sickness. God love you sista. Sending get well vibes your way and many hugs....hope work doesn't get you down even further. Get to the doctor like yesterday, and start on some meds before you get too far gone. ;) SHADDIE...another day, barely another dollar. Hope your strategies and reading lists are coming about to suit your needs. HAPPY...repeat after me...one day at a time, do not worry about tomorrow, only today....the stock market will come back and all will be fine. The house will sale and you will be on your way to "HAPPY" land. Pun intended. I, too, have some great soup recipes, so we should be set and maybe be able to start our own soup line. LAURA....hope the TOM headache is clearing up...glad I don't have that anymore...I just have plain headaches...lol..not TOM ones. Glad to hear the dentis went well and no $$ have to be spent on new stuff....tell BF not to be in a funk about aging, it could be a lot worse, rigormortis. MELLIE....hope the audit is going well and they are not badgering you over you underpayments you receive for all you do. Just give them a smack down. Sorry to hear about Richie's finger but also happy he didn't lose them...that is the bright side. CEEJAY...I understand what your co-worker means about grown kids being a PIA. I love mine dearly, however, they can sure break your heart and cost you money at times. ELLEN....hidee ho sista! Guess I need to get busy, I have played around all morning. Had oats and a tomato for breakfast oh and about 10 almonds. Kind of a weird combination, but all sounded good and were. Didn't bring lunch and all I have is a cucumber and a tomato, haha. Loves and Hugs. |
Annie
Yeah with the cost of a.c. repair. Doing the happy dance with you  You deserve a night off with the women friends. Laura I got that lecture from the dentist a couple of years ago. I take my calcium and vitamin d faithfully now. I need to schedule for a cleaning. My grocery bills are low due to the fact I cook only on the day's off. I eat out most of the time. Happy Sorry the dh had had a bad trip. Mel I want to bury my head in the sand also reason concerning all the news coming out of Washington. My supervisor and I were watching the news as he was passing through the plant and it flashed on that municipalities may be at risk of having lay off's. I'll really need to watch my pennies from now on. Shad I'm with you on with the number aspect of life. You are as young as you feel. ----- We've had a low/cool front to come through and we had a temp this morning of 74 degree's on the way to work. It felt so good to breathe some fresh air. |
Morning all. Stayed home today. My TOM headache eased up in the afternoon but returned in the evening. I took aleve but it did nothing & I was awake much of the night. I could tolerate a constant pain, but this one was like being stabbed in the back of my skull a few times a minute. Took some advil early in the am and it finally eased up. Going to stick w/ the advil today& hope it works. Feeling twinges at the moment.
Michelle, feel better soon!! Ceejay - yeh our grocery bill would be higher but we eat out a good amount... Annie - that fondue sounded delish! Happy - from a feral cat to wild turkeys!!! :D. Actually, bf (and his brothers) have been bemoaning their balding heads for years, but it was more of a hereditary mourning, not the aging type. Shad- Yes I agree that age is more about attitude, and if we work to keep ourselves healthy it's not a huge crisis... IF we can get around the age discrimination. Hello Ellen!! Well doggy is whining so I'll get him to go out in the yard. Weather seems cooler today. Might sit out for a bit myself until the skeeters find me. Or maybe I'll just stay in the 3 season room. |
Hey my friends -
I went to the doc. Not strep, not bronchitis...just a combination of a sinus infection/throat infection that is making my asthma worse due. It's a virus...so no antibiotics. But she did give me high doses of prednisone. Great! I get to turn into a raving beotch (DH will LOVE that - NOT!), gain weight, have insatiable hunger, and get bloated for the next 5 days. She also said to use my nebulizer as needed. Dandy. :( But if it will keep the airways clear. Laura - I hope your TOM headache and any other TOM symptoms ease up soon. Thanks to all y'all for the get well wishes. I wish I could go home to sleep...but too much sh*t to get done here at work. I might go home at lunch and work from home this afternoon. Love and hugs, |
Chelle..glad you went to the doc and got on top of this before it gets really bad....feel better sweet sister...Hugs.
Laura....hate it your head is giving you troubles. Hope you too, feel much better soon. Ceejay...our cool front is supposed to come through tonight, of course, now that the AC is fixed...lol. Have a great night all...much love and many hugs. |
Mel
Tell the auditor's and office to leave you alone the next few day's. Ouch for Richie's finger. Michelle Wish you could have stayed home today to take care of your self. Feel better soon. I truly understand about predisone. Happy Think you'll like living in the "wild". I got excited about seeing a couple of turkey last Saturday while driving around in the country side. |

SENDING GOOD THOUGHTS YOUR WAY. GET WELL SOON :getwell: HOPE THE ADVIL FINALL DID THE TRICK:hug:  HELLO SHADDIE & ELLEN. |
Good morning chicks,
DH gave me a scare yesterday. He went off his blood pressure medicine (with doctor's permission) because he was having bad side effects. He took the b/p machine with him and has been checking it. It was steadily going up. Said he didn't feel good yesterday and was almost going to check himself into the hospital (the house is just down the road from the hospital as we ALWAYS live in spitting distance of a hospital  ) He was going to go to the emergency room then decided he didn't want to be checked in for any length of time  He called his doctor and they gave him a different medication. Thank heavens for Walgreens drug stores (chemist to you Shad) being all over the country. Of course Walmart has a pharmacy too. He got new meds and said within an hour of taking them, he felt much better. RELIEF for both of us. I woke up this morning with chest pains too. Every night I am dreaming about the drama at work. I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it. Told myself this morning that I need to calm down and find a way to go on with my life peacefully. Between the house, the job, the stock market - it's a very nerve wracking experience. Neither of us need a stroke or heart attack as the "cherry topping on the cake right now". I think my chest pains are related to my gut being up in arms too. Breathe deep :yoga: I did go for a night swim last night. There is a light in the pool so it glows the most beautiful turquoise blue at night. The moon was 2/3 full and shining and I could see a part of the Big Dipper constellation above my head. It is finally getting a little cooler though the water was comfortable. It's dipping into the 70's at night so the water will start to cool off. Probably only 3 more weeks of comfortable swimming conditions so I am going to try and make the most of it, even if I only get 30 minutes in. Mel - if Ellen has Mt. Washmore you have Mt. Papermore  Don't get a paper cut! Glad things were quiet for you. Yes, it's scary to think about what the future might bring but we can only take a day at a time like Annie says. Hope Mr. Sunshine makes an appearance on the east coast for you. Michelle- although I'm glad you don't have bronchitis, I'm sorry that you need the steroids to make you well again. Don't focus on the disappointment of the effects, just keep plugging along. Steroids can't take away the endorphins. At least you know you didn't stuff yourself with cream puffs  Laura - hope your headache eased up. My sister has the same problems. Nothing much you can do but ride it out it seems. Hope you are feeling better today. At least for the guys bald / closely shaved heads are in style now - but what are WE girls to do? Annie - glad you enjoyed the Melting Pot. We went there once - felt like you did. Nice to try and on the pricy side. We had other places we liked better for that kind of cash. I didn't dip the dessert pieces in chocolate either and they were just as good  Oh you are so going to just love up your new grandchild. Sissy will probably have to pry the kid away from you  Oh that great smell of fresh baby clothes. (not the puky ones). Thank you for all your words of comfort - means alot  Ceejay - I didn't realize there were wild turkeys out this way. The only wild turkeys we have here are "in dah hood" While it's hard to look at it, they say we should keep an eye on our investments. Just hard to keep from panic selling. We cashed out of the market despite the protests of our (not so good) financial advisors. We are at an age where we can't afford to lose 30% of our income in a market tank. They tell us "you are too nervous to be in the market" we say "THAT's what we pay YOU for to manage our accounts - to mitigate that risk for us". They always tell you the same line of junk and we have been burnt 3 times. No one cares about your money more than YOU do. So save up and watch your pennies. Shad - hope you are doing well. How's the new job going? I have to get rolling now. Everyone have a good hump day. |
Happy Hump Day
I'm so glad it's Wednesday. We have another front coming through this morning and this one may be packing a punch with it. I'll need to pay more attention to the plant today. ----- Shad Are you buried underneath all that papaer work? Happy Glad your DH made the phone call to the doctor. BPs are not anything you want to play around with. Will he be coming back this week end. Glad you got to enjoy the pool last night. We have turkey and deer both in this area just have to be lucky to see them. We saw 5 deer in the middle of the road on the way to church one Sunday morning. Mel Enjoy another quiet day. I've got to tackle Mt Washmore this weekend. |
Hi everyone -
Just a quick post as I'm feeling lousy...working from home on the essential stuff...and hoping to take a nap before heading to the doc again. It's getting harder to breathe and I'm feeling tightness in my chest, and I don't want a repeat of last Feb when I had bronchitis for a month. Happy - I'm glad DH got his BP meds...definitely nothing to fool around with. I'm really, really worried about you too. Please, please, please try and not stress so much. It does NO good. Especially concerning things like the stock market. I know you know this. All it's doing is messing with your sleep and having ill effects on your body. It's just not worth it. All you can do is take care of what is in your control...keep prepping for the move and readying the house for sale, and look for a new job. I know you're doing both of these things. Remember that good ol' serenity prayer. You know that one, right? I know it's easier said than done, but I worry that if you don't stop stressing about stuff you'll have major health consequences.  You said you felt better when you turned it over to God or to the universe or whatever...then do that. :) Laura - Hope you feel better. Mel - I hope you, Jen and Richie are all doing okay. I hope today is quiet for you, just like yesterday. Shad - I hope work is going well and they let you up for air from time to time. Ceejay - Hopefully the storms heading your way aren't too bad. Our cool front came through...brought a little rain...but no severe weather. Phew. Annie - How is Samantha and the little one? And how are you doing? Gotta get...I might go lay down for a bit before the doctor appointment. Love and big hugs, |
Morning all. Back at work today. No headache at the moment... After being headache-free all day and evening yesterday, it came back right before bedtime last night. I had just taken a few ibuprofen and ended up taking a couple more and that did the trick. My stomach may bleed from all the ibuprofen, but that actually doesn't sound as bad as these !@#$% headaches... Going to see what my doc says. Maybe another type of bc pill could cause less hormonal fluctuation? Or just get a med to deal more effectively with these headaches.
Shad - How's the new job? :comp: Happy - Glad you enjoyed your swim last night. :swim: You and dh are under such stress right now - good you're taking the time to try and de-stress. Make sure dh does too! Michelle - Sorry you've got a virus and those meds cause unpleasant side effects. :( Feel better soon hon. Mel - Glad you had a quiet night. Sorry your sinuses are bugging you. Hope you get some nice weather coming your way to make it better. Ceejay - Hope the weather coming through didn't cause problems for you at work. Annie - Did you get the cool front yet? Just loving it up here!! Hello Ellen! I missed the morning exercise classes yesterday, and there weren't any in the early afternoon. Ended up going to the laundromat with doggy's bedding - we've been overdue on that. What a gorgeous day for weather yesterday. For the first time in a long time it was a pleasure being outdoors - 80 degrees, clear and sunny, low humidity, nice breeze. Wonderful. :) :) Movie night last night - we saw "Crazy Stupid Love" w/ Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone. It wasn't totally what I thought it would be. It was entertaining, but a bit too long. (My pet peeve.) Worth catching in rental/netflix/on demand if for nothing else than to see Ryan Gosling shirtless... Just looked at my little vacation/sick day tally sheet. It's so pathetic - I didn't take any vacation days in July... thank the weather for that. Tomorrow I'm taking a day off. Bf and I are going to the zoo with his mother, brother, SIL and two nieces before the nieces go back to school. Haven't been to the zoo in several years. Looking forward to it. The weather forecast is looking good. :crossed: Okay, I'll get this posted, and then it's time for more ibuprofen. |
Hump day and I must say this has been the day from H*LL. Working on a report for the past 7 hours, nibbled lunch at my desk...got about 1/2 day more to go...barely came up for air to say hi to all yall chicklets....Have a wonderful nite, I am going to sissy's, taking dinner with me. Little stinker.
Much Love, Many Hugs, Scads of Get Wells for those that need it, and a gob of peace of mind for those who need it. xoxoxoxo |
Morning all,
Short post this morning as I have plenty to do to keep me occupied. I have a deadline to meet which I thought was next Monday but is in actual fact the Monday after. Silly me, working my fingers to the bone for nothing. Still, I am two courses down and 1 to go. I hope to get that started today and finished by next Monday. Then I need the guys on site to tell me about good examples for training and we are all set for the off on the 30th. Without blowing my own trumpet too hard, the things that will go wrong on these training sessions have nothing to do with the Plant Maintenance section of the project - more like, I can't find parts to repair the assets because Inventory haven't loaded anything yet and I can't cost things accurately since Finance haven't given me sufficient cost codes or general ledger codes to do so. AAAArrrrrghhhhh. Happy - please go and sit in the corner and think about the happy times to come. Clear your mind of all sales people, buyers, stock marketers and government agencies, we can do nothing about these and we trust that the people who can do something about this will do so as quickly as possible. Just spend some time in positive thoughts of retirement and organic food growth. Annie - bloody reports. That must be a doozy to take that long. Hope you are not cooking the books there. Or is that the reason it is taking so long? Michelle - rest up, work quietly and keep warm and move frequently. I always find that is the way to get over lung infections and flu's etc. Laura - enjoy the zoo. I like a day at the zoo occasionally, especially if they are good zoos. Hope the headache goes away soon. Mel - Glad to hear the re cert is done and dusted. What are you taking for the sinus' etc.? I have been sneezing a lot at work lately. Is that because I am allergic to work or something. Ceejay - we have bush turkeys around here as well. They are not as plentiful as they once were but then we keep taking their habitat away from them. I love to see them making their mounds. Some of them are huge. Guess it might be time to go get some breakfast and get into the day. Master Data here I come. |

SHAD.......HOW IS MASTER DATA TODAY?? OU SOUND LIKE YOU WOULD BE WELL AHEAD OF SCHEDULE IF THE OTHER DEPARTMENTS COOPERATED WITH INFO INPUT. I AM TAKING VICKS DAYQUIL, ZYRTEC, MUCINEX AND ALEVE WHEN I HAVE A HEADACHE. SO FAR THE COMBINATION IS KEEPING ME GOING. ALMOST LOST THE BATTLE YESTERDAY THOUGH. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I'M LUCKY I REMEMBER MY OWN NAME!:lol3: :lol3: HOPE YOUR WEEKEND WILL BE BETTER THIS TIME AROUND WITHOUT THE COLD...YOU DID GET RID OF IT RIGHT?? |
Good morning ladies,
Ah Mel I love you :val1: The breathe in breathe out chick is just what I needed to see today. I will carry it with me all day. I'm glad Ritchie's hand is healing - those antibiotics can be very rough on the stomach. Thank goodness he didn't cut a tendon or something. Did you find something quiet for breakfast? Don't you eat oatmeal - just get a plastic spoon - no clinking! I can understand how you'd want to let the "babies" sleep longer :lol3: You're not the first one to comment what was the doctor thinking when he took DH off the blood pressure meds. But now I'm thinking - MAYBE DH took himself off? :?: :yikes: My Dad did that and had a stroke and heart attack - DH knows this. At least now perhaps he got scared enough not to do that again. Today I have to do battle with the dragon - Lord give me strength. I'll let you know how it goes later. I feel myself slipping from angry back to weepy (I alternate in cycles). Gotta stay angry, weepy is not good right now. At least no chest pains this morning. The hot weather finally broke, we are slipping into more comfortable temperatures and it's cooling down at night. That is good news although we still have humidity in the air. The bad thing is that it will be rapidly cooling the pool water. As the sun starts to angle more, less sun on the pool to rewarm the water that cools overnight. I am getting my hair done on Saturday so that will limit swimming after that although I try and keep my head above water because I have a hard time getting water out of my ears. So do I pull weeds tonight and battle mosquitoes or go swimming? Wow Shad - you belt those courses out faster than Michelle spits out her custom reports :D Are you trying to say that when you take the sum of the parts, the whole doesn't quite fit together as nicely as the software vendor promised it would? We all knew that but no one would listen and we were called skeptics ;) I am trying to tell myself that although worry is my best friend right now, it is purgatory for happier times ahead. Not quite sure I can convince myself of that but I will try. :^: Annie - hope you left the day from Hhhhel behind you today. How was dinner with Sissy? Hopefully she wasn't in a hormonal mood and you shared a few laughs. One of the very talented ladies at work showed us a "bubble suit" she is making for her granddaughter. It's a onesie sort of combo dress with elastic legs - looks like a bubble bottom. She sewed the thing - it has a gathered bodice and she make the most tiny and delicate embroidered roses on it. Just GORGEOUS. Too bad baby will wear it maybe twice as the infant is about 2 months old. But it is adorable. It reminded me of the ooh ahh joy you must feel holding little babies and the excitement of the anticipation. I guess you too have to focus on the goodness that is coming ahead in your life. Hope you have a better day today. Michelle - my snifflin' sneezin' friend. Hope that you have the breathing under control. Darn cold!!!! Did the tightness clear up? I guess this puts Zumba on hold for the moment. Don't be fretting over it. These things happen and you will get better and Zumba again! Sending you some love in a cup :coffee: Laura - my sister has the same issues with the b/c pills. Tried a few brands to find the one that gives the least side effects although the lower the dose, the greater the possibility that the pill doesn't do it's job so there is that worry too. While it's a bummer to have your hair thin out after menopause, not having cramps or bloat or crankiness is wonderful. Oh wait a sec, you still get that stuff but it's from the tummy or old age, not TOM  Ceejay - did you get much rain your way? It looks kind of nasty around Little Rock but by the time it got here it petered out. I think we got some spitting overnight. Not enough to water things properly. Hi Ellen peeker person  Guess I should get on with the day. It's really hard to drum up any enthusiasm at work but I will as my co-worker says put on a happy face no matter how fake it is :D  Happy Thursday chicks. |
oh and I saw this on a t-shirt in a catalogue I got yesterday -
Sometimes I Laugh So Hard Tears Run Down My Leg If you don't know what this means now, you will in a few years  |
Morning...thought I would post first then dive into this mess at work as the person the reports are for left an email last night at 7pm that said...I will be on vacation beginning Thursday (today) and not return til next week on Wednesday the 17th. Well B*llSh*t, I am not killing myself today over this report that was so d*mn urgent. He can kiss my wrinkled *ss.
Dinner was fabulous at Sissy's and all seemed to be in a good mood. Made a delicious salad with lettuce, tomato, peppers, green onions and cukes out of garden. Yum. Made a chicken pocket ring, fried taters/onions in my iron skillet and apple dumplings. Sissy made mixed veggies..lol....in the nuker. My bro's band is playing this weekend and DS is in a wedding on Saturday, so I am going to both. DSs bestie is getting married. He is one of the boys that "grew up" at my house, since they were in kindergarden. It is back out in the sticks where they grew up so I will see peeps I have not seen in about 7 years. My toitie guts took a crap <---haha last night, so I cannot flush the toitie, thank God I have another bathroom. My bro is coming over tomorrow to fix it for me. HAPPY.....don't forget to breath in and out slowly, my love....be gentle on your body and mind. It will all work out. It always does..then look at all the time you have wasted for not. I am a great example of things working out, cause my life is always in the pits....SMILES EVERYONE...da plane, da plane!! CHELLE...hope you are feeling a bit better today. This is the last time I want to hear that you are sick with chest/cold/sinus/allergies/asthma, I FORBID it, you hear me...no more...get well sweetness! Love ya my sista! SHADDIE...I don't know how you do reports and report building all the time. It makes me nuttie than a fruitcake. Kudos to you sista. MELLIE...glad to hear Richie is on the mend and back to work. I got up at 2am and couldn't sleep...should of called you. We could of torn up the world. You take it easy peasy today and enjoy this cool weather. LAURA...Have a blast at the zoo. I love going to the zoo, I talk to the animals as they seem to understand me...well at least I think so. haha Thanks for the movie review as that is one I was wanting to see, so glad I didn't and will wait for the rental. CEEJAY...our front that came through on Tuesday nite packed tornado warnings and watches...didn't really hear of any touching down, just stirred up the community. I slept right through it all and didn't even know it till the next day. Guess I will finish this up, get some more java and start on the stupid report. Going to meet some friends for lunch at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries...really great burger place. Have a wonderful Thursday/Friday... Much love and many hugs... |
Here is my saying I made up yesterday.....
You have to meet a lot of *ssholes to find one without hemorrhoids. Ba hahahahaha |

She is freaked over the boxes in the house and the disruption. She is skittish normally and I thought after DH got rid of the trailer and boxes that she would have calmed down but no. She spends all day outside - I leave her with dry food and water and on days like today when she has not eaten much the prior day, I will leave wet food out for her in a shady spot. I have learned to place it well away from the back porch after trying to beat off hoardes of flies that sneak their way into the house. She is barely eating anything. She was 7 pounds at one time but is really bony now and I'd be surprised if she was 5 pounds. DH said when he gets home he is going to take her to the vets. I am already feeding her Fancy Feast - hard to find more of a calorie bomb than that stuff! Well the rest of you must be taking late lunches or are really busy. I will check back tonight to catch up. Later chicks... |
I have had an enjoyable afternoon outside. My yard looks decent again. I wish I could mow it all the time but the heat would not let me. I've stirred up my heal spur again today and I don't want that either. I'll be sore in the morning but it will be a good sore. I only mowed the front lawn, small side yard and a bit of the back yard. Also did the weed eating and blew everything off with the blower.
A friend called around 11.30 this morning and wanted to go eat pizza. Had my first chesse pizza with pineapple. Very good. Our front brought cooler temp's but the rain fizzled out before it got here. As mom used to say we got about 13 drops. We could use a good soaker for a couple of days. I did water the bushes this afternoon also. Everything is so dry. Mel Glad you have been having some quiet days. You are an early bird. It's hard for me to get up at 5.30 on my work day's. Laura The trip to the zoo sounds like a perfect day trip. Happy I do hope dh has learned his lesson on not taking his bp meds, if this was the case. Like the attitude you have toward the "dragon". Shad You'll have a bit of time to breathe this week end if you are caught up at the moment. Michelle I'm glad that you are going back to the doctor. Enjoy that nap. I may take one myself tomorrow. Annie The dinner with sissy sounded good. Hope your day gets better. Do like Happy and takes some deep breath's. Annie The dinner with sissy sounded good. |
Morning all, - whoops that should be Afternoon all, and hallelujah it is Friday afternoon.
Happy - No the system is intact, the consultants will not be intact (or entire) if they don't get their a$$es moving and give me a material catalogue and some general ledge codes. Lordy we start training in a couple of weeks and there is nothing in the store apart from some nuts (human and otherwise) and some bolts and the general ledger/ cost centre structure completely sucks. And they have the cheek to wonder how we are as far advanced as we are - well good golly Miss Molly, were you here at 6.30 when I arrived? No! So why are you going home at 5.30 when I am going home? If you want to get ahead with the work you need to actually sit there and work for the required number of hours it takes to get the ******* stuff done! Get it, got it, good! Enough of todays rant!!!!! Sorry Happy, you have enough on your plate without me getting in the middle of it. Annie - Michelle does reporting, I just faithfully document the process for others to run the bloody things and get the required information. I hope I never have to document anything from Michelles fingers since she tends to get them up and running and then they change their minds about the layout or the results or whatever and she is back to changing the thing again. I hope you get the toot up and running again soon. They are relatively easy to fix unless of course they are completely worn out in which case you may need another cistern. Ceejay - no way will they let me sit here and breathe easy. I'm picking that when they work out that I am done with my lot, they will be asking for help. Read the above rant to Happy - will I be volunteering? No way. Michelle - I hope you are starting to feel somewhat better now and the antibiotics have kicked in. Get better soon. The cattle prod is warming up and I will be right behind Annie with the NO MORE sickness bit. Laura - must be still at the zoo. Maybe she has booked b/f in for some remedial manners with the chimps  :lol3: Mel - 4.47 - I should have swung by and picked you up for a day in the office with me. You could have been very busy with the prod instead of me. Glad to hear Richie's fingers are on the mend. What with that and my friend in Arizona's DH running over his toes with the lawnmower and Happy's DH, our menfolk are having a rough time - and mostly through their own doing. They were probably all trying to multi task at the time!!! Okay - better buzz off and carry on rewardless as they say. I was demonstrating a transaction simulation to the boss yesterday and discovered that all the ones done by the fella before me have been done on the wrong screen resolution. Guess I will just have to do them all over again. Bah humbug. I'm hoping to go home early today as well. |
Evening all.
Annie - Sounds like a looong report if it takes 1.5 days to do - what an a$$ if he made it urgent and then went on vacay! Glad dinner at sissy's was pleasant. Sounds like a nice weekend for you coming up!! :) Hey lady I like that new saying of yours, hahaha! Shad - Well at least being early is better than missing a deadline. Hard to truly test if something works if you don't have enough to do a good test - good luck with that. But if anyone can do it, I'm sure it's you! Yes, this is a good zoo to visit. I saw a couple kangaroos and it reminded me of you, as well as my 1994 trip to Oz... Mel - Oh how cute is that deep breathing chicklet!! :) Did you think of Ryan Gosling later today? You should, LOL. I always thought of him as just a skinny fella, but WOW! Glad Richie's back at work. Happy - Sorry the battle w/ the dragon has been postponed. Boo. Was there really a contest between swimming and weed-pulling?? LOL. :swim: Funny t-shirt you mentioned. We saw a man at the zoo today whose t-shirt said "I'm so broke I can't even pay attention" :D Sorry your kitty is so freaked over all the activity in the house. :( Ceejay - Nice you spent some time outside...but sorry your heel spur was irritated by it. Mmmm, love Hawaiian pizza - w/ both pineapple and Canadian bacon, but not with bbq sauce, which some places make it with. Makes me want some!! Re the sparsity of the rain - we always say it was just enough to get the car dirty. Michelle - How you feelin' girl?? Hi Ellen!! Let's see, yesterday I left work early enough to make the 6 pm "A Step Above" class. It was good - I was very sweaty after that. Not easy though, espec. because my right hamstring was sore. Did I mention doggy tripped me up in the doorway the other day resulting in aforementioned pulled hammie and a scraped elbow as well?? Yup. And after that he raced down the street and out of sight into a driveway. At least he came when I whistled... This morning we both overslept but still made it in time for breakfast w/ bf's family. Then it was the zoo. Lovely day, and I missed the zoo, so that was really nice. The walking was a bit too much for bf's mum, but she'd wanted to spend time w/ her granddaughters... It was so nice seeing bf's nieces. Bf & I went to an early dinner, then I went to the Freemotion Circuit class. Another goodie. Showered and ready for bed now. Don't want to go to work tomorrow, but I guess I will... Nighty night ladies. |

Thank you Mel for the cutest graphic and putting things into perspective. Part of my anger is that she keeps getting away with inappropriate things over and over and each time she gets more cocky about it - at this point she thinks nothing can touch her. I have a morning meeting with another manager :crossed: that things go well. They have an opening in their group and hopefully I will be a good fit. We'll see. Yesterday I was feeling tight in the chest and went to the nurse to get my b/p taken. Typically it's something like 107 over 65. Well it was 168/98. :yikes: She asked what was going on in my life and we talked for a bit. I really like her - she is a peep from Chicago and we are very much alike in attitude and such. After 10 minutes (some of it spent with wet eyes) the pressure came down to 130/74 which saved me a trip in the ambulance to the hospital. Which would have presented a dilema with DH out and the cat outside. She suggested I call EAP (counseling) or go talk to my doctor and get some Zanax. Not sure I want tranquilizers but she said it's ok to NOT have to be the tough chick from Chicago  Dragon has a busy schedule today - I'm betting I am not a priority on that schedule. Thank you Mel for giving me the piece of advice I needed today to maintain control. I am taking this as a response to the signs I have been asking for ... guess I will go douse that torch in the shower  too bad - it was such a BLAZING torch too. You're right on the consultant - there is no way to transfer all the information. Besides what she has in her head, I'll bet she also has good instincts on what to say or do and no amount of training can teach that. You're either good at it or you're not.
Laura - I LOVED your t-shirt comment too. Gotta remember that one. Ouch on the puppy tripping you up. Sometimes they do that - I guess they figure we are the clumsy ones. Sounds like that class was a great workout. Are these all on that pass that you had? You must have gone to the big zoo. They do have alot of grounds to cover. I tell DH I want one of those stroller carts for the adults and he can push me. Or maybe they should rent scooters. :scooter: I know the feeling of not wanting to go to work, especially after you've had an enjoyable day off but at least it's only 1 day of work and you've earned 2 days off for good behavior. ;) Annie - are you still buried under that report? On your way out dig up Michelle too, will you? Shad - wouldn't it be entertaining in training if you were talking about nuts in the stockroom and had pasted pics of some of the employees faces sitting in the bins? This is why they won't let me teach. You do put in long days on the job - but often they shortchange you on the proper time to get it done. The way they treat people now a days, many people have cut back on their time and work a straight 8 hour day. We all know that the harder and longer you work, the more you get to do whist some just take longer coffee breaks. Ceejay - pineapple cheese pizza. I've had Hawaiian pizza with Canadian bacon, BBQ sauce and pineapple - didn't care for it. Maybe something more simple as what you had will balance savory and sweet. Can't say I'm a fan of cooked pineapple tho DH loves it when we bbq it. You can come mow my yard if mowing makes you feel so good :D My honey is coming home tomorrow  I have missed him alot. He got alot done at the house which is more than I can say for what's gone on around here. He said their are wild turkeys everywhere. He also saw a black bear and ran into a hornets nest that was built into the ground as he was taking a walkabout on the grounds :yikes: I said I don't think I am ever leaving the deck! He said we won't want for seeing wildlife up that way. Very peaceful and quiet he said. With that I'd best get out of here. Want to review a few notes before I have the morning meeting with the other manager. It's not a formal interview, just a casual talk about what the job entails and what he is looking for. If it looks like a fit I will formally apply for the job. Have a good Friday all... |
oh boy - where is everyone? Is it a holiday and they forgot to tell me?
Meeting with dragon was meh. Non commital though I know I will not be considered for either job opening. I did meet with another manager today - the bad thing is there are ALOT of people vying for jobs. :( Got my first reject letter today :( :( but I sort of knew that was happening. The system is designed to keep you stressed out. You wait for the job to be posted, then wait for the 2 weeks it's posted. Then wait for them to select interviewees. Could be 6 to 8 weeks before you know what's going on. I suppose the good thing is that in that interim you still collect a paycheck (just hard on the nerves) and there is always the chance that new jobs will become available. I did get approval to take some classes so that's a good thing. First class is Monday. Had some California roll sushi for lunch I picked up fresh made yesterday. It was good. Nice and light. I have a nice piece of salmon for supper tonight. Going to try pan sear. I figure I can get the smell out of the kitchen before DH comes home tomorrow  Hope you all are enjoying your Friday. Catch up later... |
Afternoon all, wherever you are!
Mel - We have a retired woman who still does a few hours of work for our department and we don't want to think of the day when she says she doesn't want to do it anymore!! Glad you're getting lower humidity now and hope that helps w/ the sinuses. Happy - Sorry for the rejection on the job. :( Maybe the one you had a meeting about this morning will be the one. I too keep hearing how much competition there is our there - just hang in there!! Yeh, I think we should have taken the zoo tram for part of our day yesterday so bf's mum wouldn't get so tired out. We did make a lot of rest stops though. Too funny that you're getting all your fish-eating done while dh is away. So I take it he's not a fan of fish? Happy, my fitness passport has 15 different types of classes available and I've tried 7 different ones so far. Many are scheduled when I'm not available so I won't be able to try many more. Tomorrow morning I might try the Weekend Warrior class, but only because it's the only one that'll fit into my schedule for tomorrow. It's 75 minutes long, and I'm not really up for that, and I have to be somewhere by 11:00 am tomorrow, so I might have to duck out early anyway. We'll see. It might be better to give my sore hamstring a rest. *** Weekend plans: Tonight I'm making brownies for the book club tomorrow. Book club is in Rockford, about 70 miles away. Yup, one of our members lives there and is hosting this one. The book was the worst book I've ever read (well, I'm 24 pages away from finishing it, so that qualifies as being read, and no, I'm not kidding - it was yes, it really is that bad!) and we might not be able to truly rip into it the way we'd like because apparently the author is a friend of the woman who is hosting and who chose this book! And I hear there are currently only 3 of us attending (plus the host, that makes 4 - we usually have at least 8 people). The bad part is that we all agreed on the book and to make this "road trip", and even accepted the books for free! Several members have now declined with other plans. Not sure how many hated the book, didn't bother reading it or finishing it and decided to skip the gathering for that sole reason. I don't recall how many initially planned to attend. I mean, it is summer and there are a lot of vacations and other activities, so there's that... Tomorrow is the book club - meeting at our leader's house at 11 am and we'll drive out there. Hope to get home by 5-ish. Nothing planned for the rest of the weekend. Hope the weather stays nice. Oh, just checked - might be rainy. That might be a good thing - my bike might not be ready for cycling this weekend anyway. Feeling like a mess this week. The migraines, the hamstring and my scraped elbow... well today I felt like I had an ear infection. Yes, I did have that fluid feeling earlier in the week and ignored it, but today at lunch I went to a clinic in a pharmacy near the office and I'm happy to say I don't have an infection. It's just pressure in my eustachian tube from fluid buildup. I'm adding zyrtec to my daily allergy meds for the next few days to combat that. I have to say I was lucky and there was no wait to see the nurse practitioner, and I thought she was very nice, helpful, and "on the ball". I'd go back again if I needed to. Have not been very productive today and I wish I could just coast out this day doing no-brainer tasks, but unfortunately I have a 3 pm meeting I need to prep for and one other "icky" to work on. Just a few more hours and then I can relax! Okay, enough rambling. :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah: Back to work! |

LOL HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND AND GET WELL SOON :getwell:  |
Happy Saturday morning ladies,
Mel - I completely understand what you are saying about this summer flying by. Labor Day is in 2 weeks. I always get a little sad to see September roll around because it's the end of swimming season (the nights get cool and the sun isn't over the pool enough to warm the water back up). The last few months really did fly by. I'm glad your extra checks go ok'd. What they think you will work for free? And I'm sure it's NO SECRET who is the go to girl in your building. So are you saying that the office ladies are bealzebub's spawn too? Be careful beyotches - you can only push the little people so much before the uprising starts again :rollpin: :club: :rollpin: :club: So it appears that you work now, rack up the hours and then have to fight the following month to get all your money? Good luck. Thank you again for your good advice yesterday. I thought about it several times and it kept me sane. I find myself talking to myself alot lately. Whispering but talking out loud - it's a pressure valve I'm sure but I am doing it at work too. I just hope I'm not loud and talking in the toilet stall where someone will run back and snitch on me  DH is coming home today. :yay: I missed him although I have talked to him at least an hour each day. I think he is tired of this whole ordeal too and ready to get on with the next part. He should be home in the late afternoon. I had THOUGHT with him away that I would have gotten sooooo much done.  My family knows that I don't particularly like to stay home alone so each night they called for the "monster check" to keep the monsters at bay outside the door where they belong and not in the house  It was sweet and I appreciated it but I got at least 3 calls a night and it chewed up the evening something fierce. Some nights I was on the phone until 9 or 10 pm. Didn't even get a swim in but one night this week. If we are going to empty this house and take another load up north, we will have to do it very soon. All the stress is physically exhausting, I fall into bed at 10pm each night. Maybe I need to pop one of those 5 hour energy drinks before I leave the office and just power through the house! Getting my hair done this afternoon. Will probably be the last time I see my hairdresser. She is very popular and only works a few days a week - mostly during the day. She is trying to get new clients as she should but those clients (like me) work during the day. She works Thursday until 6pm and Saturday - all other times are during the day. I work at least 45 minutes from the salon - can't be taking off at 1pm to go get my hair done. When I was there in June I always try to book ahead at least one appointment. Could not get anything for September or October. If I have to wait 5 months to get my hair colored, it's time to find a new hairdresser. It's a shame because she is magical when it comes to hair color and I have always liked how she cuts my hair. I will tell her this when I see her today but I guess we will just part ways with a :D and a  I had a scary moment the other day. Picked up a few groceries and was going to pay with my debit card so I could get some cash back and it was NOT in my wallet. :yikes: I searched like 4 times. I hardly ever use the debit card and am very careful about it with all the fraud out there. I got gas and realized I might have left it at the nail salon last weekend. The place is right next to the gas station and I went in and sure enough - they were holding it. Whew! I realized that when I was in there - the owner was in a bad mood and he rang up my charge and gave me the receipt but not the card. I was trying to get out of there quickly as they were closing - even smudge one nail because the polish had not had enough time to set and I didn't even think about the card he didn't give to me. Good thing I only use it at a few places. DH keeps losing his cell phone, I am forgetting credit cards - what a pair of goofs we are becoming. :dizzy: We had a storm come through last night around 10pm. Lots of winds. More wind than rain. I'm glad I didn't spend the evening cleaning up the yard as I had planned because it would have been for nothing. Tree stuff everywhere. The morning dawned sunny but it's getting gray again. Will have to check the weather. Ceejay - are you having a gas shortage in your area? We heard on the news that a refinery that produces 90 percent of the gas in the area had a fire that cut supply. I'm sure people are panic buying. They were all out of middle and high grade gas when I stopped the other night. I told DH when he gets around to your area make sure he gases the SUV up. Anyway I need to run the vacumn and take a shower. Hope everyone has a good weekend and doesn't work too hard. See yahs. |
Hi ladies -
Just a quick check in....I'm still feeling really lousy with this bronchitis. I'm breathing a bit better than I was on tuesday or wednesday so that's a plus. Unfortunately, I'm still very weak and tired and only up for a couple hours a day. Still on antibiotics, prednisone, and nebulizer treatments every 4 hours. I'm hoping that with a restful weekend, I'll be back at work on Monday. Or at the very least able to work from home. I haven't had a chance to read the posts so know that I'm sending :goodvibes: and :getwell: to all who need them. Love and hugs to all, |
Awww Michelle sorry you are so sick  My sister has the same problem and she is almost freaky about avoiding the situations that can bring on trouble with the lungs just because as you say the consequences are so far reaching. Just focus on resting and not on the other stuff you think you should be doing - easy to get into a bad mindset. The faster you get better, the sooner you can go on with things. Start making an outline for that Great American Novel ;) :write: Feel better
|
Happy - I love how you remember that my dream is to write a novel. Unfortunately, the outline will have to wait. I've got to finish up my BIG website project, and a smaller one, and I'm taking on two new website project for a wonderful woman that a friend hooked me up with. Besides, the way my head is working (or not) now...my creativity is just about nil.

Morning all,
Had a very restless night after not feeling to bright yesterday. Think I just need a break - roll on time so I can get through this next month or so and then take some time off. DS2 came home unhappy yesterday because someone has lifted his mobile phone while he was getting change for a workout. He immediately put a block on it for outgoing calls and then tried to jam it with incoming text messages requesting somewhat impolitely that they return it. And then politely suggested they might have a heart and return it for a reward. The home phone rung last night but the person on the other end refused to speak to me. The phone has now been shut down by the phone company. Not much use trying to sell it now you bunch of losers. The garden is growing slowly. I picked two ripe tomatoes yesterday and the corn looks like it might be ready in a couple of weeks. The Rocket and Spinach is mighty tasty and the lettuces probably only need another week. Beans are flowering. Michelle - hope you are feeling better today. Keep taking that medication and getting plenty of rest. Good to hear that you have a couple of new websites to work on, but not at the expense of your health please. Mel - It was nice to knock off at 3.00 on Friday. Heck I had still done 8 1/2 hours at that time anyway. What wasn't nice was all the schoolkids on the train. Man, they are noisy, not to mention fairly stupid. Happy - Hope DH has a safe trip home. I like the idea of filling up a truck next time and getting most of the unnecessary away in one trip. I hope you took a copy of Mel's breathe in and out graphic. Sounds like you could use that as a screen saver for a while. I find Murphys law always works for me. I get a new job and someone would immediately buy the house. I've been watching a program on TV called Let's Grow. It's about a NZ family in Auckland who decided to turn part of their backyard over to growing vegetables organically - and took up the challenge with a local gardening guru who set them goals for each week. Their second to last episode the challenge was to pick enough stuff from the garden and set up a stall at the local farmers market and make $100 from their produce. They sold everything including the scarecrow and except for a couple of punnets of Oregano seedlings and ended up with close to $150 which paid for their winter crop seedlings. It was a fun show. And it made me think about you and DH. My backyard is not big enough to do this, otherwise I might be tempted to have a go myself. The program was made for the benefit of the Mental Health Foundation who are getting a lot of their patients to go gardening and grow things. Apparently it is good therapy. Time to get on with the day I guess. Lots to do today that didn't get done yesterday. I really need to think about getting in a housekeeper. I get tired of this constant work. |

I AM GOING TO ADD THE INGREDIENTS TO MY SHOPPING LIST AND SURPRISE HIM WHEN THE KIDS LEAVE ON THE 20TH. BC notes * I add any fresh herbs in the garden but have used mixed dried herbs too dried oregano good here if you have it on hand throw in a teaspoon I buy the little 1kg bags of waxy potatoes I like to serve this with home-grown Rocket (Arugula) This is super super easy in the crock pot…throw it all in (no need to pre-cook anything) & cook on low all day or high 4 hrs (you may need to add more stock as you go) Prep beforehand and when you get home while you are sorting things out throw it in and cook in the oven for 30/40 minutes (check pots are done) I would normally cook double this and freeze or use leftovers This makes with bread 4 hearty adult servings (this will serve all 5 of us) FROM ABEACHCOTTAGE.COM |

Good morning ladies,
Gee what an emotional Sunday morning. Looking at the news I saw the tragedy at the Indianapolis concert. Just a freak of nature with the weather - prayers to those killed and injured. Then I see the trouble at the Wisconsin State Fair in Michelle's area. Attacks by groups of hoodlums. What is going on with the world? I swear there's just too many of us on this earth. I also read an article about the new 911 Memorial in New York set to open in a few weeks to mark (can it already be) the 10th anniversary of the attack. It's just a beautiful memorial. The article had some video about it as well as some touching stories of the victims as told by their survivors. Very sad. One woman was on the hijacked plane in Pennsylvania. She was pregnant with their first child and both were killed. Her husband said her motto was "get busy living or get busy dying". One of those little taps on the shoulders that to me, gets one back on track when we try to veer off too far into the weeds sometimes. DH made it home just fine. We are trying to decide our next steps. He is upstairs now deciding on and ordering a snow plow attachment for up north. :shocksn: gotta face up to the obvious. We will need it or we won't get to the house in the winter which includes my cousin checking on the place. A busy day ahead - I have to get groceries, do laundry, decide if I want to do some packing or if I should go outside and help DH with the yard which has at least 3 days of work to do. Mel - funny you should talk about chorizo. My Mom was just talking about it yesterday. Eggs and chorizo in a breakfast burrito. Actually I'm surprised that either you or her could it it. I love it but find it rather oily and too spicy for me now :( Hope Ritchie likes the dish. Shad - I imagine you are moving into the best time of year for you. Sounds like the garden is doing well. That's pretty interesting about the organic gardening challenge too. We will have to see what challenges we face once we put our garden in. I suspect I will have to sit in a chair with an air horn and fight the local wildlife for the produce we grow  Probably have a bigger challenge from the deer and bunnies than the insect pests. It's a pity someone sunk low enough to steal DS's cell phone. People would lift air if they could make a profit on it. There was an article where thieves were cutting telephone wires in isolated areas to steal the copper wire. Which of course was knocking out phone service to the area. Crazy world. Michelle - hope you are feeling better and getting your rest. Annie - were you at the Sugarland concert? :yikes: Thank you sooooo much for the card and beautiful words. Meant so much to me  I watered the card so it would grow a little ;) In a whole week of DH being gone, there was FINALLY something worth while to go to the mailbox for. I rarely pay attention to the mail - all junk mostly but once in a while there's something that makes your day! Laura, Ceejay, Ellen - hope you are all having a nice weekend. Fall is coming fast - get outside and enjoy the weather. I did get my hair colored yesterday. My hairdresser recommended some other people in the salon who could take over. She does alot of weddings - hair and makeup for the bridal party so that's why she's so busy over the next 2 months. I'm going darker and I actually like it much better. If I can manage to get outside in the sun for a while (doubt it), I could lighten up a few of the highlights. Well I am not getting anything done by sitting here at the computer and I have a jam packed day ahead. Best get busy. Happy Sunday all... |

apparently we have a family of turkeys that roams our yard. DH took this picture.

Trying something different.
Happy I'm jealous of your turkey sightings. When my uncle puts out feed for the deer, the turkey come too. I love wild life. There are gangs forming on the internet causing all this commotion. That's why London burned. Michelle Are you feeling better today? I don't know how you find time to work on all the extra websight business. Mel Hope you get rid of the headache. I hate those things. Shad I would love to have flowers and a few veggie's in a garden but this gumbo is to hard to dig. You would practically have to dig out a spot and refill it with good soil to do any good at gardening. My uncle gave me some okra, squash, bell pepper and tomatoes today from his garden. Yummy. Laura, Annie and Ellen  Hope you are having a good week end. When I was putting my things in the car I found a nail in the driver's side back tire. I drove to Paragould anyway on a wing and a prayer. But I had a good day on Saturday. My uncles got together again on Saturday. I made good food choices. Took my car to Walmart tire center and they told me the nail didn't puncture the tire, therefore, it didn't cost me anything. Also got my hair cut. Sunday morning at church I got to see two more of my cousins. R lives in Little Rock and was visiting this week end, and another cousin who lives in town, was visiting her mom today at church. My uncle, aunt and I went out to eat and low and behold another cousin was eating lunch in the same resturant. |
Ceejay - thank goodness you didn't get a blowout with the nail in the tire. Glad it all worked out without alot of expense. Sounds like you had a nice impromtu family get together this weekend :D
I took a swim at 9:30 tonight. The water was warmer than the air. It's cooling off now and the filter is getting more leaves in it which means swim season is coming to a fast close. I came in the house and had a nice soak in the new soaker tub. Now I'm ready for bed. I have a class on Monday - need to get there really early (hope I can stay awake all day  ) Probably won't have time to post tomorrow. I'll check in if I can get on the Internet at lunch. Nighty night. |
