Good Tuesday morning ladies -

It was so dang hot and muggy last night that I really felt slothful (as in lazy arse) and didn't want to go to the gym even though the gym is air conditioned. Probably just an excuse I know. But I also needed to take DMIL shopping. After work today, I have to drop ship some boxes of DMIL's stuff back to CA as their wasn't enough room in her suitcase. Then it's straight to the gym for Ball Zumba class and I'm really looking forward to it! After Ball Zumba, DH and I are going to take DMIL on a drive through the countryside near our house to see if we can spot any deer or other "critters" alongside the road. A nice way to spend her last night here.

If it wasn't so awfully hot and oppressively muggy out, I'd go for a walk on my lunch hour. But it was so muggy and warm even at 5 am when I left for work that it was difficult to breathe.

I was a bit frustrated when I stepped on the scale over the weekend only to learn that I hadn't lost any weight, despite having the stomach bug. I hadn't gained any either. It just shows me that I really need to keep active to keep the metabolism up.

This weekend DH and I are going to State Fair, which will mean a lot of walking. Since the cane wasn't quite enough support for me last weekend at the County Fair, and State Fair is SOOOO much bigger, I've been debating between my walker and renting a wheelchair. DH pushed me around State Fair in a wheelchair last year, and my back is doing a little better this year. So this year, I'll do the walker. At least I'll be able to sit whenever I need to since it has a seat. And the walking, albeit slow and with many rest breaks, will burn some calories and hopefully strengthen my back more. I'll just have to wash the walker really well when we get home (after walking with it through the barns). I'll take my pedometer, and I'll bet that I walk at least 10,000 or 15,000 steps that day.

******************************

Mel - I'm so glad you're taking the day off. I hope the phone's off the hook and you have a sign on the door. Good for you for getting some sun and a bit of laundry done amidst all the chaos yesterday. I hope the weather is nice for TJ's tomorrow. Enjoy your relaxing day! DMIL does miss us and the doggies when she's away...just as we all miss her terribly.

Annie - I hope the red marks have diminished since yesterday. Please, please, please listen to the doc - and straight to the ER for you if it worsens. Like Mel, I won't ask the Lord for anything today...and tell Him you can have my share.

Shad - I hope the chaos/disorganization of the new job have lessened. If not, beat them all with a !

Ceejay - I hope your day gets better. I hate when my work days start off with demanding phone calls or emails.

Time for this chick to get some work done.

Lots of love and hugs to all,

Morning all.

Michelle - I get not wanting to go outside again after being in the heat, even to just drive somewhere. Nice plans for dmil's last evening with you. Hope she doesn't go back to stress in CA, but I'm glad she can return to you and dh if it comes to that. The walker sounds like a good idea for the state fair - you can get some walking, but support and sitting too as needed. Have fun. I have to put that on my list - I've never been to a county or state fair! Closest has probably been a combination of the Farm in the Zoo at our own Lincoln Park Zoo, and any number of fests, LOL.

Ceejay - I'm dreading the electric bill too. Actually the last one was pretty nasty, but I expect this one coming to be even worse.

Annie - Hope the meds work on the hole in your foot and the red marks on your legs. And I hope the other new med makes just the right combination to get you feeling better. Your garden sounds yummy. I might try some lettuces later in the season - they do well in cooler weather right? I like the idea of having salad fixin's right in the back yard. Maybe next year I'll try cukes.

Mel - Enjoy your day off from life! My arm is feeling good now, thanks for asking. Knock wood, it seems like the aches and pains are on hiatus at the moment. Even my foot is feeling pretty good.

Hellos to Shad, Happy & Ellen.

I got home last night wondering if I even had any clean workout clothes to wear to an exercise class, and my worries were correct - no bottoms. So I took a quick look but there was nothing else that could stand in that I wanted to be seen in, LOL. I ended up sorting laundry, throwing in a load of workout clothes and then doing an old Margaret Richard workout on dvd - 60 min, all body parts. Already sore in spots, can't wait til later in the day when it'll really kick in ...

But later in the day I'll be at an exercise class, so it'll feel good to be moving and not letting my muscles get stiff. (No movie tonight, our group leader is on vacation. ) Good, I'll get to make up for missing last night. I need to do 3 classes a week for the last 5 weeks of this fitness passport session in order to finish all the classes on the passport.

That's about it for me. It's hot and muggy here. Ugh. And to think I saw people on the street wearing sweaters over shirts! Stay cool everyone. Michelle - this isn't sn*w, but hopefully it makes you feel cooler:

Hi girls,

Sorry no time to post yet. Annie OMG on the foot!!!! I thought when you said streaks it was blood poisoning. PLEASE PLEASE listen to the doctor and do what they tell you to do. That's nothing to mess around with. I hope you are feeling better.

News from the realtor not encouraging. We see another tonight. I will try and post later if it's not too late.

Love to the "hot chicks". Remember this when winter comes

See yahs.

Morning all,
Annie hope you are feeling better and brighter today. Yikes, what bit you to make a hole that big? Rest up, gentle exercise and lots of fluid. Hop to it!

Happy - it is what it is, and the fiscal news coming out of the States is not good. Just goes to show what all that greed and materialism eventually ends up as. There is never such a thing as a free lunch. Never has, never will. Now everyone has to suffer and those who get it worst will be those who did nothing to perpetuate the problem.
Think I agree with Ceejay - I would have taken half an hour anyway and jumped in the pool just to refresh myself.

Mel - what were they thinking? Of course you go to the fountain of knowledge first. Then you go to the masses and then to the drama queens and divas. That way you can sift the facts from the emotions and gesticulations and weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Keep cool.

Michelle - sad to see the DMIL go. Hope she comes back fairly soon. I guess it will be all sweetness and light in CA for a while and then real life shines through.

Ceejay - phones ringing already. At least at my desk, I don't have a phone. If I need to talk to someone, I have to shift the *** or use my mobile. Those bbq'ed chickens are great. I often buy one, strip off the meat and freeze the bones for the garbage later in the week and then use the meat for salads and sandwiches at lunch times. Don't know what yours cost, but for my $9 I can get a weeks worth of lunches etc., out of that.

Laura - exercise queen that you are. Hope you get the just rewards for all the exercise classes. When do you fly out on holiday?
I understand the hassle on the trains. People can be so loud and some of those school kids so incredibly stupid. Was I ever that bad?

I swear I posted yesterday, but it seems not. The days roll on in long waves of frantic activity and rest easy mindless tv, cleaning, and sleep. That check out chick job is looking good at the moment. Not that I am complaining too much about this one. It isn't difficult, just behind schedule, and disorganised.

Apart from that life is pretty good. I still feel that I should have been born rich instead of beautiful. I am deprived.

Gotta go. I have two blokes here. They need to be put back in their cages.

Hi ladies -

I have a ton of stuff to get done today in between meetings, and then I'm leaving early to take Mischief to get a blood test and Doppler to the eye doctor vet for a follow up.

Last night, I went to the gym and did 35 min. on the recumbent stepper, followed by 1/2 hour of Ball Zumba! Great workout and no pain! DH dropped DMIL off at the airport this morning. I'm sad that she's gone...but she'll be back (at least for a visit) in December (at the latest).

I'm taking tomorrow off to work on finishing up the website project, and to decompress a little bit. Plus, I have to use my vacation days up before the end of the year or I lose it.

I'll be working from home Friday, Friday night, Saturday morning for an hour or two and possibly Sunday night (hopefully not). DH and I are going to the fair on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it!

****************
Annie - I hope the foot is getting better. I'm worried about you, girlfriend.

Laura - You should definitely go to a fair. They're a bunch of fun. If the IL State Fair is too far for you...go to a county fair, or come up to one of the fairs in WI. They often have great bands playing. For example, we saw Heart at the Fond du Lac County Fair a few years ago. DH and I love seeing all the animals, looking at the craft exhibits, stuff like that. I'm not a big fan of amusement park rides...so I don't go on anything on the midway. At the WI State Fair, there are pig races, which are a lot of fun to watch, and this year, the National Clydesdale Show is happening at State Fair...we saw it a few years ago and it was a tremendous competition! So many beautiful horses!! DH and I really want to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo soon. Glad to hear your arm is feeling better. How are your muscles today after the Margaret Richard workout and an exercise class?

Happy - I hope the realtor you met with last night was more encouraging. You're right about winter coming...and as hot as it's been...I keep telling myself, that I'll be complaining about the bitter cold all too soon.

Shad - You definitely are keeping busy. I'm glad there isn't much to complain about the new job. I think we all wish we were born rich instead of beautiful. I also promised myself after my 1st marriage ended that the next time would be for money and not love...that didn't work out either. BTW, there are times when I love mindless TV. Enjoy!

Mel - Sorry to hear that Jen is dealing with a bunch of drama. I love it when I start the day as a beotch...it's so great to be left alone from the get go! Definitely be careful when it comes to your shopping list. No sense spending $$ on stuff that you're tummy's not ready for. You do not want a relapse..or to spend your days and nights on the loo.

A big to Ceejay and Ellen! I'll try and check back later, but since I'm leaving early, I might not be back 'till tomorrow.

Lots of love and hugs to all,

Good morning ladies,

Last night's meeting with a different realtor went a bit better than the night before. We are still going to take a dump on the house. She said that people don't have a lot of money now and they expect the house they buy to be in move in condition - they don't even want to paint and there are so many properties on the market that if they don't like a room color, they won't buy a house. Wallpaper is out as well as the traditional southern colors of red and yellow. Looks like DH is going to have to paint most of the house. We have wallpaper in our foyer which is 2 floors high. We would have to get scaffolding to take it down and it would cost us over a thousand dollars to hire someone to take it down and repaint. Not going to do that Also they said buyers want discounts, allowances and want you to pay their closing costs. Perhaps I should offer to go in, pack their house and wipe their hineys for them too???? Unreal. They also said that buyers are looking for granite counters in the kitchen. Well I have a huge kitchen with a built in desk and 7 foot "serving" area - I think DH said it was something like 96 linear feet of counter area. Do you think I am going to put $10,000 worth of grantite into the kitchen I will never get back in house price If they want to see granite, go in the new remodeled bath The thing that really is troublesome is that we have taken very good care of our home, it is well maintained and we have done lots of updates. That doesn't seem to matter - we are lumped in with "comparable" and recent sales - all of which are homes in which the occupants moved in when the subdivision was built in '78, grew old in the homes and never did anything including changing carpets, baths or even the paint. And those are what our home price is being set to! Even the houses around here that are currently for sale are dated with the colors and original baths and the same wood floors that we have. We didn't expect to get back any return on all the money we have put in the house but we didn't expect to have to offer so low beneath what we bought it at. Realtor number one said it's a tough market so price it low to make it attractive and stand out from the competition, sell it fast (30 days or less) and go on with your life. We did get a deal on the Wisconsin house but we lose more on this house than we gained on that one. We are leaning towards price low and sell fast just to get out of here. And it weighs heavy on my mind, I have woken up a couple of times the last few nights thinking about all of this which makes for a sleepy me during the day. So thanks for bearing with my rant! Bottom line, if you put money into your house - do it not as an investment but to please yourselves. Market is looking to stay this way for another 2 years until all the foreclosures die out. Then they are looking at 1 to 2 percent gains ove the next 5 years. So sit tight and Ceejay - if you were ever thinking about buying a house, this would be the time

Mel - poor Jen - always something with the kids - maybe she should not go to Florida! No vacation for her it seems. I understand what you mean about the eyes telling you to buy buy buy at the store and then the tummy says Hope you won't have to waste alot of leftovers.

Shad - I'm hoping to be able to get into the pool tonight for a while. Although the water is almost 90 degrees - warmer than bath water and it's so hot outside, it isn't even refreshing. I think we have to be patient and one day "our ships will come in" - tho it will probably be a little dingy instead of a yacht Hope you won't have to put in a lot of long hours on this job. Have you ever worked a contract that wasn't in disaray? (sp?)

Michelle- sorry you had to say goodbye to the DMIL for a while. She will be back before you know it. Sometimes it's good for everyone to have a little change of venue tho I hope things are not going to be too stressful for her in CA. I think it's a good idea to take your walker to the fair. Will it be easy to roll it over the fairgrounds? This way you can pace yourself, sit down and enjoy some of the exhibits.

Laura - as for the sweaters over shirts, sometimes the offices get too cool when it gets really hot outside. There have been days where I used my fan in the morning and then had to use my heater in the afternoon once the a/c got cranked up. But I certainly would not be walking around in the heat outside with a sweater on! You are certainly going to challenge Michelle as the exercise queen with all those gym classes. Go girl! Had to laugh at you having no bottoms, I can relate - not sure how we wind up with so many shirts and not enough pants. I have to do laundry tonight too or I'll have to bind up the girls with an ace bandage or wear a sports bra tomorrow

Annie - are you taking care of that foot? Feeling any better? That IS a deep puncture hole - don't you remember stepping on anything? I hope you are not trying to do the CVS job...

Ceejay - thanks for the snow pile but by the time it made it's way down to me it was steam Hope the phones stay quiet today.

Time for this chick to get on with the day. Talk to you later...

Mel
Don't upset the tummy. Feel sorry for Jen and all her drama. You two hang in there.

Happy
Hope you don't get to stressed out over selling the house. It may ouch a bit though after all your hard work.

Michelle
I used to go to county fairs, but the dust and animals make my sinuses act up big time. Enjoy your fun time.

Laura
I wished for some long sleeves the past couple of days inside our office/control room area in the morning but I go outside to warm up. I don't turn up the air cause in the afternoon's the thermastat will measure 85 degree's

_____________
Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment for August to get my b12, and in the afternoon will have my mammogram and bone density. Tomorrow night is the concert.

I had a great post going and lost it...so.............

the foot is doing much better. Red streaks are shorter, wound is healing nicely.

AC went out yesterday and I am roasting my arse off. Brother will be over tomorrow to see if it might be an easy fix.....otherwise I will have to call a repairman. Hella B and I may stay at sissy's tonight.

Happy...all the things the realtor said are nice to have but trust me, there is someone out there, just perfect, that will want your house as is. You just wait and see, it will happen....don't let all that bunk stress you out. Shame on the realtor. Yes and he would have a quick sell of a perfect home a lot sooner with all the improvements for easy money....blah blah blah....Sending you a guardian angel to borrow for a while..

Chelle....glad you got in some pain free exercise...hope DMIL comes to live with you permanently as you seem so happy when she is there. xoxo

Shaddie...see you don't even know how to act when the job is not as stressful as the last one. haha. And really Shad...no one is as organized as you. I bout cracked when I read your post to me...hop to it...IHOP Pancake house is where the one legged waitress works....ba haha

MELLIE...drama drama drama...really you need to learn to unplug that phone more often, might as well cause they don't listen to anyway...or at least not till the last minute. and btw, you are a stinker and you know why. Love ya sweet sista.

Laura...sounds like by staying home and exercising you got a work out of some muscles and joints that don't normally get moved as often...hope the achy goes away fast. It is hot and muggy here too and sure can tell it with the AC broken....

Ceejay...I was off for one day and had 8 messages and 22 missed calls...I just hate listening to messages. I think I will change my VM to say..I am not in the office and don't leave a message. haha

Ellen...sending good vibes and prayers.

Best get to these messages...YIK.

Loves and hugs,

Morning all.

Shad - No phone on your desk - might be a blessing, but I would still prefer phone calls to people just showing up in person.

Mel - Check that shopping list carefully - better safe than sorry. Hope today is quiet for you. Sorry Jen's had so much drama this summer.

Michelle - Yeh, a county fair, or the WI state fair would definitely be closer than our state fair in downstate Springfield. It sounds fun - a lot of that stuff is certainly foreign to me, having lived in the city my whole life. Good job w/ the exercise!!

Ceejay - Yeh, this is the time of year when we put on more clothes when we go indoors and take them off when we go outdoors - reverse of winter.

Happy - Well, the realtor wasn't very encouraging was she? ...but I think she's probably right about people wanting total move-in ready homes. When I watch those HGTV shows w/people looking at houses and they make comments about the paint - yeh, you can tell they have no desire to do anything more to a property they buy than move their stuff in. I can see how this situation would keep you up at night.

Annie - Glad the foot/leg are doing better. Gawd, hope the AC is an easy fix. This is not the summer to have it go down.

Hey to Ellen!

Went to Tighter Assets class last night. I have to face the fact that more than a couple pieces of my workout clothes are a size too small for me. Felt like quite the fata$$ last night and wondered why I'd worn what I did. Definitely putting those pieces aside for now and will use my Kohl's cash (earned last week when bf & I went shopping w/ our gift cards) to buy something new.

Having lunch w/ the former manager today. Taking the night off exercise, but I still have laundry to keep me busy.

Cooler today, and sort of cloudy, but still muggy as heck. That's supposed to clear out...please! Next week shows temps in the 80's - sounds good after all the 90's w/ heat indexes in the 100's!

TTFN!

Hey sista's...it is 1000 degrees in this house since I keep it shut up when I am not here...can't trust the neighborhood. Too many hoodlums.....and I live in a good neighborhood....lol.

Got the windows open but waiting on the house to cool down.....a friend of mine came over and checked all the breakers...no such luck...it is probably the compresser on the air conditioning unit outside.....Fook and Mellie would say....and that is putting it lightly. I am so Peed off with this kind of crap and life. Maybe God is just trying to teach me s.o.m.e.t.h.i.n.g. Can I just have a peaceful life for a few months? Is that asking too much?

On a brighter note...I got 9 boxes of disposable diapers for the babe at a 1.49 a box on close out at CVS tonight....I am saving them for later, maybe a baby shower gift for sissy. AND they were name brand...pampers...not CVS basic! lol The doc is already predicting a bigger than norm baby...Sam is was only 19 weeks preggers at her last appt but the baby measured 20.5 weeks....OMG...she most certainly may go C-section. Her BF was over 10 lbs, I told her the only thing that might save her is she was only a 6 pounder. BF being 6'6" tall, it might not turn out so good.

I am feeding Hella B ice to help cool her down....too bad she tries to bite me when clipping her...she is a rag-a-muffin and would feel better if she would let me clip her.....for being so smart, she is DUMB.

My boss that I really really like has accepted a new role....promotion...and she won't have to travel. Now I am back with the *sshole boss that is a b*tch to work with....great...life will SUCK.

Well I really need to TRY to get some sleep in this HOT house.....

LOVES AND HUgs...

Good morning ladies,

Been up since 3:30am. I don't sleep well these days. 2 job leads I was hoping on fell through It's looking rather bleak at the moment but trying to stay positive although it's a struggle. Right now I am doing some major hate on a couple of individuals. When I hit a low point, I think of Annie's maybe God is trying to teach me s.o.m.e.t.h.i.n.g and although I don't have an answer, it does make me step back and smile for a sec At the moment I prefer to thing of it as having to suffer now for a better future ahead. Although the way this economy is going, I am fearful of that too! I just want out of here before things collapse. I am also telling myself that if this doesn't motivate me to get my act together about getting the house ready, then nothing will. We have moved some extra furniture out of a few rooms and I will admit it makes quite a difference. Our dining room is on the smaller side for a formal dining room set and it really was too crowded with a butler's table, cabinet and table and 6 chairs. Anyway, enough about me.

Annie - I can't even imagine trying to stay in the house in this heat without any a/c. It's stifling and even a fan in front of a bucket of ice isn't going to do any good. I hope you got some sleep last night. And no, is is not asking too much to have a quiet, peaceful life. I don't know why some people are the bowling ball and others are the pins. Thank you for the offer of the guardian angel, perhaps we will share her - I think you are needing a little loving in your life too What a good deal you got on the diapers. I think Sissy is in for a shock on just how much a bambino will cost. Houses and kids suck the money right out of your wallet I'm sorry too that you lost the good boss - the good ones never stay around for very long - either they move on or they are forced to move on or out. I hope you can keep your sanity. Just keep an eye out for other opportunities - like opening your own catering business Michelle and I are going to be the next J.K. Rollins or whatever her name is (Harry Potter). You can be our agent we need someone with organization and computer skills

Ceejay - did you SEE what the weather forecast is for today? 106 degrees with a heat index of 120. I walked to my car last night after work and I swear my pants smelled like they were freshly ironed by the time I got into the hot box. Need to let the air run at least 10 minutes just to be able to touch the steering wheel. Does this heat cause you extra work at the plant?

Laura - yeah when the realtor said buyers don't have a lot of money and want to just move right in, I was tempted to say 1) isn't that the way down here - we've been told (ALOT) that unlike people up north, folks here tend to move in and not do anything to their homes for 20 years. And my other snappy comeback is ... well yeah but if the buyer doesn't have money, then the seller is just trying to recoupe some of the 10's of THOUSANDS of dollars they spent trying to make a nice home for YOU. And we spent much more for the house than the new buyers will. So there Hope you find some more comfortable gym clothes. I also found that some pieces of clothing are comfortable with certain types of exercise, while others are not. Floppy pants are good for Zumba but maybe not so good for spin class, step class and yoga. Also too sometimes those big floor to ceiling mirrors in the gym change your mind about something you thought looked ok when you walked out of the house

Michelle - don't you and DH ever take a vacation anywhere? I noticed you seem to use your vacation in bits and pieces. Or is it just the nature of your work that makes it hard to take a whole week off? I hope things blew over at DH's work over the whole server issue. Hope you have a fun day off today.

Mel - I beat you in today but I'll bet when I post you will have been typing around my head I'm glad that someone is at least getting a break from the hot air - probably easier on you too because the heat sure does make the seniors cranky. Of course it doesn't take much to get them riled up Do you find that sometimes you have to talk to them in a stern voice like a 2 year old to get them to stop. Of course they don't like that either. When I do that to my Mom she tells my sister "your sister is REALLY WOUND UP TIGHT" I hope you have a peaceful day today.

Shad - I do the same thing with the rotisserie chicken except we get a better deal at $7. I strip the thing too and make chicken salad, chicken sandwiches and in the winter I even use a bit of the chopped up chicken in the WW classic vegetable soup to add a little more protein. It's so much easier than baking the chicken yourself. I guess busy as you are you do seem to be able to get steady work assignments so that's a good thing. Just seems like it's always a rather intense, go go GO environment no matter where you are at.

Hi Ellen

Guess I should hop in the shower. I was disappointed to find that I have a dental appointment this morning (forgot to mark it on my calendar). It's just a cleaning but I hate them because my gums are receeding and the dental techs are young and "enthusiastic" about their work and cleanings are not comfortable for me. I'm going to try to convince her to give me a "mini" cleaning so I can get in and out quick

Hope you all stay comfy and have a good day.
