I'm overwhelmed with work projects...and mildly freaking out....but it's better than being bored.

DMIL and I went and saw Harry Potter yesterday! Awesome movie! By far the best of all the movies in the series.

Oh, and when I weighed myself yesterday, I'd lost another 1.5 lbs!

No time for personals this morning...I've got to get back to juggling several projects and deadlines.

Love and hugs to all,

Monday, Monday.......Howdie Worldlie Women....

Just a bit longer on this stretch of work...Yeah. 12 days. It was 11, but the new schedule came out and I have to work Aug 6th. Then off on the 7th. VERY BIG NEWS GIRLS.................After two years...I resigned from CVS...it has been a tough decision which has taken me 6 weeks to decide. August 6th IS my last day. The manager about cried. He hugged me and almost begged me, went into this speech about how I am SO dependable, work so hard for them, clean like a maniac,,,blah blah blah SOoooo I agreed to remain on the payroll, and only have to work a 4 hours shift ONCE a month to remain active. Plus I will still get my discount...just in case I want to come back or they need me in a pinch. I can do that...I am really excited about getting my nights and weekends back, but will miss the $$. Sanity or $$...I have very little of both anyway..I know it is a good thing for me as everyone else in my life has stated.

I love my daughter, but she is being the biggest beeeeacccch while pregnant and I truly try to stay away from her. My God, who knew how hormones could make her awful. If the saying is true you hurt the ones you love the most, then she must love the h*ll out of me. lol. Just not used to my sweet, kind daughter treating me like the enemy. HURTS

Went to dad's Saturday before CVS. He actually wanted to go to Denny's for one of their 2, 4, 6, 8 $$ meals. He insisted paying for it. Too cute. Our total bill was like 12 bucks, we drank water, and he was so pleased with the cost. I constantly chuckle inside, then he leaves a buck tip. So after he turned to walk away I slipped more $$ on the table.....Silly!

Got the house cleaned between Saturday and Sunday mornings before going to work. It was a pit. I hadn't cleaned in about 3 weeks, just too busy/tired/lazy/didn't care, anyway it is clean now. Laundry done too....for a minute...as well as Ellen knows that one!..

Ceejay....wow a Christmas (sorry Shaddie) present early. Oh what fun. And it is a new computer. Enjoy sista. So sorry your Sis will not visit you while so close. Really, what is she thinking, that is the kind of stuff that gets my emotions rolling... HUGS!

MELLIE....I know what you mean about the Norway situation. My SIL, Pia is actually born and raised in Norway. She has family and friends still there. She has not heard of any losses so far, but then again, she has not heard from all. We are just praying for the best. She is such a sweet, lovely person. I love so much. Those seniors sound like my dad. It is 100 degrees out, I go over to his house and there he sits in a flannel shirt. Yikes.

Chelle...the birthday bash was a success...you MIL will remember that forever, as you will because it was such a success. You are such a great DIL, DW, Friend, all rolled up in one. I am so excited about the 1.5 loss...see what staying strong and OP in tough situations can do for you...keep remembering the great outcome when you just say no to not so good food situations. You are becoming more and more beautiful....ROCK ON! <----I know that saying is an oldie..but I just love it and it fits!

Happy....I know the cleaning thing is like a bad habit...just keep on doing it. I am so much like my G-ma in that respect. She was a cleaning fanatic. I get it from her. I also like to cook and bake, just as she did. At least I inherited her good qualities as she was very witchy and had the d*mnedest mean streak that you would not believe....I just know that perfect J.O.B. is out there for you, and may come from a totally different arena, but it is out there and you will get it. Sending GREAT job vibes your way, sweet sista. Hugs.

SHADDIE...hope the new job is going well. Is it too soon to see how many idiots there are? lol. Hopefully you will be working with people that KIND of get what they are supposed to be doing. Sending goodluck vibes your way.

Laura...hey girl, watcha up too? Or have you entirely melted in this state of heat? Makes walking the doggies not fun when you sweat the entire time. Keep up the good work with exercising....do a little for me...I hate the stuff.

Ellen...enjoying the kidlets and summer...good for you!

Better get this thing posted before I lose it.

Have a marvy Monday..

Much love and many hugs....

Annie
Awwww, dd will be much better after the baby is born. I was beginning to wonder about you working all this overtime and no time for yourself. Doesn't it feel good to get the I don't want you to leave from the boss for being a good worker.

Shad
Good luck starting the new job.

Happy
Did you get rain yesterday? We had dark clouds with thunder and lightning but no rain. Sigh we could use a good soaker rain.

Michelle
Good luck with thos new assignments. I know you can do it. AND congratulations on another 1.5 pounds lost.

Laura

Morning all. Happy Monday – not. Sorry this is so long - I'm avoiding work!

Shad – Didn’t want to get into the work ethics of the Gen X & Y’s, but you about summed it up! I believe employers here now have to make mandatory minimum employee contributions to the 401k plans if the employee doesn’t voluntarily do so. Hope your first day at the job went well! OMG, the lame Cxxxxxxxx in July marketing ploys! Isn’t the back to school marketing in full swing by now??

Mel – The nerve of whoever it was to volunteer you to stay on weekend duty for what – if the AC went out?? Errant seniors?? Unbelievable! Hope it continues to be quiet and not “alarming” by you. Sorry your sinuses are bothering you!! So sad about Norway, though I confess I didn’t know about it ‘til I phoned my mother yesterday morning. She sounded very disappointed I’m not keeping up w/ the news. Because it’s so positive and uplifting, right?

Annie – Hugs to you, since you’re having a hard time of it. All that Mel mentioned that’s happened lately in your life – you’ve got to cope somehow. Glad the cry and talk helped a bit. Good for you deciding to cut to (almost) nil at CVS – now don’t let them get you back in there on a regular basis!!! Your sanity is worth more than that and I just know you can make your finances work on one job’s paycheck!!!

Ceejay - Lucky government, utilities, and for-profit businesses – just raise the prices and pass the cost along to us because you mismanaged your operations and/or allowed corruption and therefore didn’t put away money for future capital improvements. I wish I could cut back on my bills and tax payments or demand more pay when I have to replace my car or do a home repair or spent too much on things I didn’t need. That was in reference to your garbage hauling fees going up, BTW. It’s a good idea to save an old computer as a backup for maybe storing files like photos. Enjoy the new one with that big screen! We have an old sluggish desktop that will eventually become a back up when we finally get around to replacing it. Lately we’ve rarely used it – we now check our e-mail via our iPhones, and bf has a laptop. Hope the sister retreat is a go!

Michelle – Glad your DMIL was surprised and enjoyed her party!! Great planning to keep the surprise a surprise! She’ll have great memories of this to look back on. Glad you enjoyed the latest (and last??) Harry Potter movie. Congrats on the 1.5 lb loss!!! Go girl!!

Happy – Glad the finances will work out in spite of your work situation – just need to get that house sold!! I’m sure the real estate lady will have a positive assessment – you’re really going all out to present your house in the best light! Re my friend's visit - bf, my friend and I went to our town's downtown block party and met bf’s friend there for a little bit, but we didn’t stay long. Then it was dinner (Leona's) and back to the house. Pretty ho-hum, but nice.

Hey Ellen!! Hope you’re not melting or being flooded out in your neck of the woods! I think we got 7+ inches of rain overnight Fri/Sat. We saw a lot of debris by the side of the road Saturday and Sunday, so I know a lot of people in our area had flooding in their homes, including our neighbors (2nd time this month – last time their sump pump went out). Thank goodness we didn’t.
***
Friday night was a dog walk and then I don’t recall what until I fell asleep watching tv and finally dragged myself to bed around 11. Then we all woke up to the most intense thunder storms I’ve ever heard – and that was with the windows closed and AC running! Doggy was shaking like a leaf and none of us could sleep, so we got up and watched some tv until it finally passed. Poor doggy! We got back to bed around 4-ish. We would have given doggy one of his sedative pills to calm him, but we had the vet appt in the morning and needed to medicate him for that, so we didn’t want to dope him up twice.

The appointment went fine. The dope hit doggy harder than it usually does when we give it to him in the afternoons because of all the stress and the fact that he’d been sleeping and didn’t have adrenaline going yet. Funny both the vet and the assistant commented on how good he was, LOL. In addition to all the shots and annual exam stuff, nail trim and gland expression, we also asked about Coal’s hips – he’s slower getting up nowadays. Vet recommended glucosamine. We also asked about his various and sundry lumps and bumps. One is just fat, but one was sampled and is being sent out for testing. Praying it’s not cancerous.

Went back to bed after the vet and slept late – I didn’t go to an exercise class - then did some errands til my friend arrived. Then it was talking, the downtown block party, dinner, and back home for a lot more talking.

She stayed over, and yesterday we talked some more til she left, then I puttered around the house. Did a little shopping. Finally bought some new sneakers, but then I remembered an online shoe store recommended to me by a friend (onlineshoes dot com) and I saw the same ones for significantly less $$ – and no shipping cost and no sales tax either. Turns out the ones I chose are the same unattractive ones I had before (I call them my Frankenstein shoes, lol), but they’re the ones that feel the best. Sigh. So I’m gonna return them and buy them online instead. Damned if I’m going to pay more than I need to on those, LOL. Because it’s my !@#$% bunion causing fitting issues, bf is advising me to get it removed…

Finally watched the movie 127 Hours last night. Wow. Scary stuff – you know I’ll be sticking with the easy hiking trails from now on!

Okay, getting this posted. This is enough babble for a week’s worth of posts, sorry ‘bout that!

Hi ya all,
Writing this from work. I have found that I can do somethings on the internet and this group is one of them. No facebook tho' but that's okay, not really necessary since I am supposed to be working.

This isn't the greatest organised project, but it is going ahead anyway so I might as well get used to it. So far they have been busy telling me how busy I will be but I'm am so far not too busy.

Need to sort out the payslip/ timesheet thingy so I can get paid. Still have to actually sign the contract yet - like I said, things aren't to well organised.

Have to take some time when I get home to read all the personals. I haven't had time to do that today - even if I am not as busy as they tell me I should be.

Hi ladies -

Feeling a little queasy today, but at least it didn't hit me 'till this morning, so I was able to get to the gym last night and do 1/2 hour of Ball Zumba and 1/2 hour of strength training...I couldn't do all the strength training moves that the class did...so I modified some of them. Tonight, we're planning on taking DMIL out to dinner and then to a baseball game. She wasn't feeling all that great yesterday..so if she still feels lousy, we'll be celebrating her actual b'day quietly at home.

A few days ago there was talk about gyne vs doc. I've never gone to a gyne. I've always had a regular doc do the exams. For the last several years, our primary physician has been a internal medicine specialist. He's helped me get my cholesterol and blood pressure controlled, and he handled the bad bronchitis I had back in Feb very well. If something is out of his area of expertise...he's more than happy to refer to a specialist. He's really an excellent doc...very thorough and great personality. He goes to the same Y that I do, so we occasionally bump into each other there.

As for planning/saving for retirement...DH and I should be doing more...but we're doing the best we can. And I refuse to stress out about it because the more one stresses about anything...the less likely they'll have a long and happy life. I try and be fairly selective about what I stress out about. When my dad was dying...he told me several times that what helped him through was the serenity prayer. I'm changing what I can...and trying not to stress about the rest.

DH keeps telling me that I should write a book and become a famous novelist. To which I reply...I'd love to! And I'll get right on that in all my free time!

I really appreciate everyone's support, and gentle reminders not to overdo it, as I get back into exercise and making progress in my weight loss efforts.

************************
Mel - I got the box! Thanks!!! PM me how much I owe you for the shipping, okay? The seniors are very lucky to have you looking out for them and bringing them in from the heat and suggesting things to take their minds off the bad news in the world. We're having a break from the heat today...I'm glad you got a break from the heat too. I hope your sinuses are better today. Mine were really bad yesterday...the pressure hurt so bad it actually made my upper teeth hurt. I'm doing better today though. I love today's kitty cat graphic!! So glad that you slept well last night. I hope you have a relaxing day.

Happy - Congrats on the A1C going down! That's a huge victory!! Very interesting about the rise in autism being linked to maternal Vit. D deficiency. I take Vit. D supplements, especially in the winter when we get almost no sunshine up here. You and your DH were so smart about saving for your retirement. I'm really surprised that with your DH's expertise, he can't find a consulting job...as those jobs tend not to be concerned with your age/health. I hope the house is already for the real estate lady to give you a good assessment, and I hope that you can get the house on the market soon. I'm glad to hear you and DH have a workable financial plan. Keeping my fingers for you on the job and house sale fronts. I think you're right about my DMIL getting a lot of mileage from the happiness of her surprise party. She was really so touched/moved that people would take time out of their busy weekend to celebrate with her. She said she can never remember having a party like this, at least not in her entire adult life. She said in the past, her b'day parties have always been combined with other people's birthdays...never just for her. I gotta agree with you that sometimes the "business casual" dress code is taken too far. We have associates here who wear long shirts as dresses, or super shorts skirts that barely come down over their rear end. And it's like seriously? How does that NOT expose your assets when you sit down?

Laura - I, too, wear bandanas when doing yard work to keep the sweat out of my eyes. I don't wear a terry headband often when working out (I usually forget to bring/wear it to the gym), but I ALWAYS have a small towel handy. When I used to go to 2 hour Zumbathons, I used both a small towel AND a headband. 7" of rain on Sunday night? Sheesh!! I'm glad you were spared from any flooding. I'll keep my finger's crossed that Coal's lump that they tested is noncancerous. Sounds like you had a nice time with your friend. I'm glad you're able to save some $$ by buying your new sneakers online. I haven't seen "127 Hours", but I'm familar with the story having seen interviews with the guy who was stuck. Pretty dang intense.

Shad - Your descriptions of Gen X and Gen Y are so accurate! Did you have a nice weekend with R? A C(word) tree on the freezer section of the supermarket? I would be irate about that too. I can just imagine a bunch of Aussie sheilas taking on the Imans or the Islamic or Christian fundamentalist terrorists. My money would be on the sheilas! Sorry to hear that this new project is starting off poorly organized. I hope things improve.

Annie - I hope you're feeling better emotionally. It's gotta be rough on ya' that DD is going through hormonal mood swings and you seem to bear the brunt of it. I love all the cute stories about your dad, like him being so pleased with the inexpensive dinner at Denny's. Sending good thoughts and prayers for your SIL Pia's family and friends. I get how you're lonely...but it's better to be without a guy than with a jerk who will break your heart. I'm really proud of you for taking steps to take care of yourself...like cutting way back on your CVS hours. It's good that you've compromised with the manager to allow you to do just 4 hours a month to stay active and keep your discount. I definitely think sanity is worth more than $$. Of course, this from the person who spends a great deal of time each weekend on freelance website work.

Ceejay - Congrats on getting the new computer!! I hope you and your sisters can arrange a reunion/retreat!

Ellen - Hope you and the kids are enjoying summer!

Better get back to the project from h*ll.

Much love and big hugs,

Morning
I just went through the red tape. I consulted with my bosses this morning on the chemical burn that I found last night. My upper arm was stinging a bit so I checked it out last night. I did remember that the fluoride splashed a bit when I transferred it. I didn't want to make any to do about it but the HR had me to fill out the necessary paper work. I should have kept my mouth closed. The redness is almost gone this morning.

Michelle
Your motivation is making me want to do more exercise. I refused to go to the gym last night because I wanted to set up the ISP on the computer, but that will have to wait till Thursday. I'm going to the gym.

Mel
Allergy meds have that affect on me also. I sleep so good. Thanks for the information about the graphics. We have been getting cloud cover which make our temps a little cooler. It's been hot enough that we can appreciate that sudden drop in temps.

Shad
You may get busier as times goes on. Enjoy the quietness before the storm.

Laura, Happy, Ellen

Morning all.

Shad - Well, even with disorganization, I hope this assignment goes better than the last!

Mel - Glad it cooled down for you last night.

Michelle - Good job on the exercise! Hope the queasiness fades quickly. I always have a hand towel with me when working out, but a headband in addition would be more effective. To heck with vanity!

Hello to all the Worldlies!

Nothing much to report. I went to the Step 101 class last night. I was still bored by the choreography, but I had a set of risers under my step and that AND the humidity made it really challenging for me - about 3/4 of the way through I removed the risers. Saw my cousin in class and had a chance to chat with her afterwards, so that was nice too.

I thought I might try to commit to going to class every day this week, but right off the bat I can't go Thursday because of a hair appointment, and there are no evening classes Friday. But I can certainly shoot for Tues, Wed., Sat. and Sun. I'm sure I'll lose my enthusiasm at some point, but we'll see if I can push through.

Bf started to install my new handlebars for my bike yesterday and learned the size (as provided by the bike co. cust. svc.) was wrong, so he had to return them and then search for a replacement. He's adamant about finding them with a matte black finish (can't recall what they call it) to match the other black parts of the bike. I told him I'm just fine with the shiny black finish if the other is too difficult to find. I think he's annoyed because I won't ride the bike with the straight handlebars that came with it, and I even tossed out the thought of selling the bike if he can't find the handlebars, which really ticked him off. My view is, yes, the bike is really nice and was a great deal, but if I can't ride it comfortably then I don't care about that. Sigh. Now I'm getting annoyed.

Skipping the movie tonight because I want to, LOL.

TTFN.

Ceejay - I'm so glad the burn wasn't serious. It's usually a good idea to report any type of work-related injury...just in case. I'm glad I'm inspiring you to go to the gym. I'm so happy that I CAN exercise again. I wish I could do more exercises...but for now, I'll take what my body lets me do.

Laura - I agree about the headband...maybe I'll start wearing one soon. At least for physical therapy because the sweat gets in my eyes more often there. I won't be adding leg warmers to the exercise wardrobe though. Sometimes I like boring step choreography...sort of like sometimes I like to watch mindless TV where I don't have to think or follow an intricate plot. Good for you for making the boring more challenging! So nice that you got to see your cousin. There are no Friday evening classes at my gym either. Frustrates the heck out of me. I could just go and use the stationary bike, treadmill or recumbent stepper. This weekend we have plans anyway. I'm really proud of you for committing to 4 days of exercise class attendance! That, in addition, to your cardio and BE workouts in the basement, and you're rockin' sista!! I hear on insisting that the bike be comfortable. If you feel sore after working out...you want it to be the "good" sore...not sore from poor body positioning. Good for you for choosing exercise over the movie tonight!

Back at work and writing. Haven't got much time since I have two courses to write, edit, critique along with numerous qrg's and how-to documents. One course is to be finished this week - and today is Wednesday. Yeehaaa.

I'll be back later tonight to catch up with the doings. Meantime, stay cool, look lively, keep hydrated, work hard and love well.

MORNING EVERYONE

LOTS OF FUN LAST NIGHT WITH ALARMS AND IT DIDN'T END TILL THE LAST ONE RANG AT 2:45AM!
I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY THE PEEPS GET SICK AT NIGHT WHEN THE OFFICE IS CLOSED?!
ONLY ONE ALARM WAS AA FALSE ALARM AND THAT WAS THE ONE NEAR 2 IN THE MORNING...CAN WE SAY WTF!?!?!?
EVEN THE COP WAS PISSED AT HER ARROGANCE. SHE ACTED LIKE WE WOKE HER UP.

GOING TO LIE LOW TODAY AND REST. IT WAS HARD TO FALL BACK ASLEEP AND THEN I WOKE AGAIN BEFORE 6.
TIME TO RUN THE REPORTS DOWNSTAIRS AND LEAVE THEM ON THE APPROPRIATE DESKS.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREATWEDNESDAY/THURSDAY

MICHELLE.....ONE THING THIS LAST DR SAID WAS GET RID OF THE STRESS.
THEY AGREE IT'S TOUGH IN TODAY'S LIFESTYLE BUT I CAN SEE WHAT IT'S DOING TO EVERYONE AROUND ME.
LAST HOLIDAY THE 3 OF US HAD A TALK HERE AND DECIDED THAT OUR LIFE IS WHAT IT IS.
WE'RE JUST TRYIONG TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT CAN BE CHANGED AND DEAL WITH THE REST.
SO HOPE YOU ARE ON TO THAT IDEA AS WELL. HOPE YOU AND THE DMIL FEEL BETTER TODAY.

CEEJAY..... SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE CHEMICAL BURNS. I AM SURPRISED THAT THEY DON'T HAVE
A TUBE OF SALVE THERE FOR SUCH THINGS. BEST TO FILL OUT THE PAPERS AND THEN BE COVERED FOR ANYTHING.
HOPE IT'S EVEN BETTER TODAY.

LAURA.......I LAUGHED OUTLOUD AT "SKIPPING THE MOVIE CAUSE I WANT TO" SORRY THE HANDLEBARS WERE THE WRONG SIZE.
HOPE HE FINDS SOME NEW ONES BEFORE YOU HIT HIM OVER THE HEAD WITH THE OLD ONES

SHAD.......NOT TOO SURE WHAT THAT IS ALL ABOUT BUT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT TO GET DONE IN ONE WEEK.
GOOD LUCK!!! WE ARE KEEPING COOL.....HOPE YOU ARE WARM

Good morning girls,

Been reading your posts as the days fly by. I have made a difficult decision to forego my Labor Day vacation and instead break up the 4 days I have left to tackle projects around the house here. I don't see any other way around it, can't get much done with working, getting home late and we've been talking (or somedays DH has to talk me down from my mania). We've been eating at 8pm which is way too late and after I clean up the kitchen it's about bedtime and nothing is getting done except a bit on the weekend. So I am taking off tomorrow and Friday and given 4 days, expect to become the Tasmanian Devil whirling about the house here. I feel bad because this means DH has to make the long trip to the house all by himself but I don't see any other way around it. Still looking for another job internally - that's a major depression in and of itself. Trying to keep positive with Annie's things happen for a reason but some days are really bad...

Mel - do the seniors have "I've fallen and I can't get up" type buttons in their apartments which trigger these alarms? I'm sure they don't understand the danger in calling in the troops for minor things either. At least they aren't beating the krapp out of one another like you see on the TV show cops Sorry they woke you up. Give 'em all an Ambien around 8pm.

Geez Shad - out of the frying pan, into the whirlwind again, aren't you? I have seen for myself over and over how they hold training off until the last minute so I don't envy you. Good luck with the schedules.

Ceejay - I'm glad you didn't get a nasty burn from the chemicals. I suppose you are around some pretty potent stuff Your post about the flouride reminded me that one of the criticisms of drinking bottled water is that "city" water is treated with flouride and bottled is not so if you drink bottled, take care of your teeth with a rinse or floride added toothpaste. And I agree with you about popping an allergy med occasionally for a deeper sleep.

Laura - I don't think guys "get" that comfort on a bike is different for women. I hate the straight handlebars also. And not a fan of the racing lean way down bikes either. I hope you can find the right parts. Who would think it would be so complicated?

Michelle - I agree that you can't live your life stressing about things, just saying with the trend in the job situation - and you well know from DH's experiences too - that the job climate is not good and companies don't seem to want long term employees anymore so people need to think really, really hard about HOW they can manage to keep a job in their 60's, especially if it requires physical labor. DH signed up with several contracting firms when he first got cut, companies don't want older workers, especially in I.T. unless you have experience with software they can't find otherwise.

Annie - that's sort of funny about Sissy being so "on edge" of course I don't have to deal with her. Those hormonal rages are hard on everyone, including the person themselves. Good thing you are so understanding.

Ellen - hope you are doing well.

Time for this chick to run. Happy Hump day ladies.
