  • Just when do New Year's resolutions begin????? I have eaten everything in sight for New Year's Day. Please say it starts on Jan. 2!!!

We started our black eyed peas last night and they are dee-lish!! DH made a huge pot of them and they are almost gone!! We should have tons of good luck this year!!

    Love to all of you!
  • Shelley & Sher: How do you cook black eyed peas??? What do they taste like????? Do they taste like a bean????
  • gayle....If *I* can cook black-eyed peas, anyone can! Buy them dried, in the bag - those are WAY better than the canned ones! Rinse them really well, then put them in a crock pot with enough water to cover them, some salt and pepper, and some hamhocks. Cook 'em all day. Eat 'em. Doesn't get much easier than that!

Girls....I finally have my BIG MOTIVATIONAL REASON for losing this fat. We went to the Peach Bowl (where the Vols made a miserable 30-3 showing ) and I could barely fit into my seat! I have huge bruises on my saddlebags where I kept scraping the arms of my seat getting up and down to cheer. I am officially a big fat mess!
  • Well Girls now that I just finished off my fourth cookie I can post. Starting tomorrow I would like to get some weight off.I believe that today was the last party for a few days anyways. lol Even if there is another one soon I am going to make better food choices.

I posted on the walking thread my total mileage for the year.
    Grand total is 1310 miles.

Thank you everyone for the nice compliments.
Well it is late and Larry is in bed already. He has to work tomorrow. I am beat so I am off to bed too.

    Good night.
  • Jenelle-I've been reading your posts over at the BFL thread. You are doing great!! Good luck. If you need any other hints, let me know. I have the book and I also have the printouts of everything I did over the months that I was on it.

Dee-Your stats for the year are awesome!!

Gayle-Yep. Jen is right!! My DH cooked ours slowly on the stove all night. We ate the whole thing up!!

Okay girls!! Today is Jan. 2!! I am off to jog and hopefully have an OP day!! I have to get these 5lbs. back off!! I was doing good for 2 days, then messed up for 2 days.

    Talk to you later!
  • Hi Floozies. It sounds like you all had a great time on New year's eve. I wish I could say that my evening was as fun, but it was a bit MORE eventful than I would have liked. We were at my BIL's house playing Trivia when the phone rang. It was the County Paramedics. My son hydroplaned, went airborne, and landed in the living room of a house. Thank God no one was home at the time. Thankfully his injuries were not life threatening. He has several gashes on his head, glass in his eye and forehead, and is very bruised and sore. Of course, his truck is completely totaled and the house has about 40,000 dollars in damage. We were in the emergency room until close to midnight and finally dozed off around 5 a.m.
We are still walking around in a daze. I don't know what will happen now. Our insurance will take care of all the bills, but then they will probably drop us. I'm praying that the people in the house don't sue us. On top of all that, my best friends mother had a stroke on New Year's Eve. They weren't sure she would pull through, but so far she is holding her own. All in all the year has NOT started out how I had hoped. But, all we can do is pick up and move on. The important thing is that no one was killed.

Sorry to put such a damper on everyone's good mood. Maybe the next time I post it will be good news.
Well, today is the last day with my other son before he returns to Montana, so I'm going to go spend some time with him. I'll talk to you all later.

    Love you,
    Ramona
  • Ramona I am so sorry that you didn't have a good new years. What a scarey thing. Glad that everyone is ok. I hope that everything will work out.
  • Ramona - I am really glad that your son is okay! If I were the owners of the house, I wouldn't sue him. Hey - it happens - the weather gets bad and cars wreck. Keep in close contact with your insurance company in writing, though, to make sure that they are adequately taking care of these people. If the insurance company makes them mad, they will take it out on you.
