Default Got tangled up in my tutu...

...and couldn't post. The thougt of me in a tutu should keep you entertained for a few hours, at least.

Internet underwear. Cool.

I was downtown today buying overpriced toys for the kids and dh. Well, actually, all dh want is a new pillow and the Spiderman DVD. And one of those milk frother things for cappuccino, except he never drinks coffee.

I believe Herbie's sleep apnea could account for his irritability during the day.

Remember that doc who ruined our computer? Well, that's not all he ruined. His wife, my best friend here in no-man's-land and a lovely Englishwoman, is 8 months pregnant and he want no part of it. His response when she told him was "Well, you'd better get rid of it. I'm not ready for that responsibility.I'll print you out some information from the internet". He's 40 and they've been married for 5 years. How much readier do you need to get?? I swear I am going to poison him. I told her she could come live with us. She's handling it very well and is thrilled about the baby but not thrilled that she's going to be dealing with things alone. Men are such boneheads, don't you think?

Oh, it's freakin' MINUS 8°C (which is about 17°F for the metrically challenged) during the day here. If I knew what chillblains were, I'd probably have them. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I'm bothered by the fact that ppl living in Germany watch the same goofy movies that we do. Spiderman? I mean we have an excuse for it. We're Americans and you know how they are. Walmart and McDonalds on every corner. I just thought Europeans would be so much classier than we are. Next you're going to tell me that Parisians actually like Disneyworld.

I bought some candy for the office, it being the season and all, but it was a big mistake. It is the yummiest almond toffee and I just can't stop eating it.

Sugar, not all men are boneheads, just the majority, and definitely your friend's idiot husband. Hope she makes it through this pregancy and is able to not hate him, because in all likelihood he'll probably change his mind. But by then it may be too late. What a fool.

I'm going to go do my Curves workout after work. I've been very good about going 3x's a week, but I missed yesterday due to the nasty gallbladder pain. I'm trying to hold out for surgery in January, so that my out of pocket for the year will be met, then I can have the boobie bob for no $$'s. If they approve me for it. I'm still waiting to hear back from my insurance co.

I got a sweet Christmas card from Brattie today. And still haven't sent mine out. Should I panic yet about Christmas? I've only bought 2 small gifts for DD, nothing for DS, and DH's gift is bought. That only leaves my parents, DH's Dad, DH's extended family, my extended family, various friends, and the wrapping of said gifts. Nope. not gonna panic yet.

I believe that if we all adopt a mantra of "Kiwi's Christmas displays are made of deer snot" we will all lose 10 lbs the first week.

Men are boneheads. Wabby is too kind. Ds's mentor has "discovered" that he can take classes at the community college while in high school. He told him to "talk to Mom about transporation." Very helpful.

Hello, I am madly crocheting away because I am making afghans for three people this Christmas and I'm only a third of the way through. I did get a run in yesterday, though.

Wabby, you're doing Curves? You must be a skinny lil thing now! Our cute little IS girl went from a size 4 to a size 2 doing Curves. That bodes well, right? (She's such a nice person that it's hard to resent her because she's beautiful. I truly believe she has no idea how pretty she is.) Good luck with getting the boobie bob approved!

Lushie, I don't think I'll get skinny from posting here (remember when I was 142? Sigh...) but at least I'll be a happy fat cow.

Sugar P, that is such a sad, sad story. I feel so bad for that poor woman. I wish for her an easy delivery and a perfect baby because if anyone deserves it, it's her. (Lurkers, please don't assume I mean that if you had a bad labor you're a bad person. If that were so, I would have to think I was the most evil person in the world.)

Hi to Kiwi, Baggzzieee, Peaches (I never said thanks for the nice things you said about me on Thanksgiving. Thanks!), Brattie, & everyone else I didn't specifically mention!

I'm still fat.

Peaches, you have to be careful with that bonehead generalization. Our sons will grow up to be men, and they definitely won't be boneheads.

Cherry, I've been doing the curves thing for almost a month now. My big weigh and measure day is on monday. I've decided that I won't lose weight by starving. My plan is slow and steady, with exercise and eating more of what I should eat more of the focus, instead of cutting calories down to nothing, then yo-yoing back up. At least I feel better.

Lush, I want to see your list.

Kiwi, I whatever happened to the good ol' JC Penney catalogue? Remember when the Christmas one would come in the mail when you were a kid? I spent hours drooling over it.

Default I'm wiped

I've shopped till I dropped. And then I shopped some more. Got a ton of nice sweaters and tops for cheap at the If You Have More Time Than Money store (lots of pawing through junk for good stuff). I even got myself a couple of things -- a black cashmere sweater and a stretchy cotton dress. Hope I don't hate them later. Well, how can you hate cashmere? Especially for $25!! Then I went to a really nice craft/gift shop and got practically all the rest of my shopping done. The only things I'm missing are the dreaded Men Presents. I am so clueless for them. DH I usually have scoped out okay, but my stepfather, my father-in-law, my brother. oy. Any ideas?

Cherry, you are a crazy woman, but I'm cheering you on. Go girl! Crochet like mad!

I ordered a set of exercise tapes, and I'm going to put you all to shame. Just wait. By March you won't recognize me. Wanna know why? I got the notice that my 30th high school reunion is next August and I really want to go. But not like this--.

Sugar, that man is simply despicable. My DH has a cousin who had the same thing happen to her. They were a lot younger, around 30 I think. And I don't think he really stated he couldn't handle a baby, he just left while she was pregnant. After the baby born, I don't remember how long, but months anyway, he came back. They are still married -- with 4 kids, believe it or not. Ya never know. But he sounds like a anyway.

Ah yes, when Christmas came in an inch-thick book. Or 2 inches if you were more of a Sears person. DH was a big fan of the Wishbook. I think of the internet as my own personal giant wishbook. All I have to do is think of something and there it is. It is a computer geek's dream come true. The other day I ordered a gift certif. from Home Depot for my sister-in-law, and had a conversation with a guy at Campmor.com in a little chat window to find out if snowboard pants came in DD's size. (She doesn't snowboard, but she likes them double reinforced knees )

However, I have to admit, I should leave the house more.

Default Poor Bagzie

Hope you feel better. I wasn't in your favorite Maine town, I don't think. I went to the slightly closer Lincoln, to Marden's. Of course there is one in Bgr too.

Today it is pouring snow! That ought to be a nice mess on the roads.

I have to start wrapping stuff. And send out the rest of my cards. Tomorrow we are having Christmas dinner with my in-laws (because we will be away for 2 weeks), so those presents have to be ready. The ones I have to take in my suitcase to NC, I don't think I'll wrap, although I hate to wait until I get there to do it. Apparently at the airport they can make you open wrapped presents even in your checked baggage. With my luck, if I wrap everything, they will pick me. Guaranteed they won't pick me if I don't wrap anything, though, dontcha think?

Speaking of flying, I got a copy of the federal regulations about what you can take and what you can't, and most of those rumors are false. Acc. to the gov't, nail clippers are perfectly okay. However I did take the jackknife out of my purse.

Oh, Brattie, thanks for the card!! Too cute!

Default I ain't sent no cards to nobody

Not yet, anyway. But I will. On Monday. For sure.

Up to my ears in Christmas cookies. The smell is nauseating, but it doesn't stop me from eating them. It's just an automatic reaction. We made cinnamon stars and spritz cookies with a piece of cherry in the middle. My cookie press is my friend.

Do your 'roids always get worse in winter, Bagzie? Maybe it's stress? How's the dd? Poor thing.

My kitchen is a tip. Did you know that Rachel is a successful businees woman now and has a new boyfriend? And her cutie-patootie is 4 or something?? Where does the time go?

I crocheted and afghan for Stevie once. I wonder if he still has it? I'm sure it became one with the earth a looooong time ago!

For Christmas the in-laws are getting a reading lamp and an extremely large bottle of Cointreau which dh seems to think his mother desperately needs. Have to come up with a couple of other tidbits. Have not mailed presents to nieces and nephews yet, but they get so snowed under by gifts that they won't even notice.

Oh yeah, this is funny. My youngest brother is a customs official and had to go to Quebec for 6 weeks for some training program. They are all staying in an old monastery which seems to be very nice *except* for one thing. They have a well and the cafeteria ladies use that water to cook with and it has some very strange effects on the people eating the food. The place is called Rigault or something, and after the first week, *everyone* knows about the "Rigault 10 Minute Warning". Seems like if you feel a certain rumble in your tummy about 10 minutes after a meal, you better run, and run fast, or there'll be trouble. Some poor souls need to "go" up to 10 times a day!

We had about 1/8 th of an inch of snow last night. I had to wear leotards under my jeans today when I went out. That's how cold it is. I think the last time I wore leotards was in 3rd grade.

Christmas #1 is behind us. We have shared ham and presents with the in-laws. Now we must get ready for the other Christmases . This will be even more challenging than usual because:

A) DH crashed my SUV last night -- turned it over on its side in a ditch. Yes, he is fine, but my car is not. Its whole right side (thank goodness no one was in the car with him!) is smashed in and dented.

B) DD has a bad cold, coughing and sneezing like crazy. She has to perform in the school concert tomorrow night, singing in the chorus and playing in the band. Poor baby. I know I will be tempted to keep her home, but how can I make her skip the Christmas concert?

C) I haven't heard from my family (in NC) in a week. The last thing was that there was a whole controversy involving my brother and his lack of any money or a job. I'm not all that eager to call them and hear the latest.

Isn't life a kick?

oh, and
D) I can't find my bathing suit. I'm going to Florida after Christmas y'know. But my in-laws gave me a check today which ought to cover a new one if I can find one (too bad I didn't order one from Wabbit's friend--or 2 or 3)

E) There is no dog hair in the Scotch tape this year. Bummer.

Wow, I remember Rachel. She was such a busy little bee. She sure must have changed -- I remember her as kind of a meek little church-mouse. Good for her.
