Gah. Just had to convince my neighbour (half a foot taller than me) that yes, 105lb is a perfectly reasonable goal weight for my height and pretty much in the middle of the normal range of the BMI. It's a bit like when people are amazed that I have size UK 3 feet, but honestly, what else do they expect at my height?

How exciting! I found MY home here! Well, at least one of them. I am a shorty! I am an astonishing 5'2.5! WOOHOO!

zoodoo613 06-28-2011 04:45 PM

Hey, a place where I'm the tall one? I'll take it!

Me too! I'm sick of always being the shortest!!

TheManekiNeko 07-08-2011 10:43 AM

It's nice to see I'm not the only one who finds that other people don't seem to understand how much difference a few lbs make when you're so short.

shorty in texas 07-09-2011 09:38 PM

Hi, new here, glad to find a site for us shorties! I need some motivation to lose 25 lbs. I am about 138 right now, 5'2 (and a half) age 48. Was about 110 all through high school and very athletic, athletic muscular build, so I think this is around my ideal weight. I lost 20 lbs 1.5 years ago when my daughter was ill and I didn't eat anything but broth and crackers for a couple months, but now have gained it back :(. I need motivation to exercise, I eat healthy, but like my wine (glass or 2 with dinner). Eating isn't my main prob, it's consistent exercise. I walk, do stairs in my house, etc but it's not enough. What good exercise regimins does anyone recommend? thanks, shorty in texas

Armida 07-18-2011 04:14 PM

Hahaha, here's another tall shorty. I'm 5'2"!

liliesinmycereal 07-27-2011 09:42 PM

Does anyone have an example of how 10 pounds would affect a shortie?

this is soooo true!! people at work are always trying to compare weight.. as we all try to lose some.. and they never understand why for them 170 might be a goal weight, but for me.. more like 115/120..

ugh.. stinks!!

shadowmom74 08-04-2011 11:00 AM

I guess I'm at the other end of the spectrum here... I'm only 5'2", maybe less... but big boned. And that's seriously not a cop-out!

In high school at the time, I thought I was such a fatty! I *thought* I was sooo much bigger than most of the other girls, who were all taller! Well, really, I was in a size 12 jeans, but those girls were still in jr sizes and I couldn't have squeezed into them if I tried! I remember going to the Dr in 9th grade and I weighed in at 143.

Kinda feel weird with everyone soo much smaller, but I am what I am!! We'll see when I hit my goal of 160 how I feel!!! ;)

scjp926 08-04-2011 11:09 AM

Is everyone else losing slow once they get within 10 pounds of a healthy weight? It is everything I can do to have a drop on the scale every week. I have a body bugg and I know my calorie deficit daily and some days I just don't make it. I think it has to do with this heatwave here in the US, and I live in Mississippi and our heat indexes have been in the 110-120 for a couple of weeks and I feel weird especially after working out. But I don't deprive myself I eat atleast 1200 calories per day but I feel dizzy sometimes. Anyone else feel like this?

I'm similar in that I seem to carry weight differently. I'm small, but dense! I'm almost 5 feet tall, semi muscular, and very curvy in the T&A areas. I was wearing a size 12 in children's clothes in college when I lost weight and got to 112lbs. After having a child and being a *little* older, I would be happy at 120 (which I was within a year of having her). 115 is a possibility. Between 120-130, size 2 fits me, but the tightness/comfortableness changes.

SHORTIES - 5'2" & Under

Well, I certainly fit into this category at a whopping 5'1" - I've reached that place where I am starting to shrink - unfortunately, until now, it was just in height. The good news is, I am now 13 lb less than I was a few weeks ago - Hooray! Actually looking forward to a weigh-in.

The weight distribution certainly is different on us shorties - much more compact! My waist, hips, and bust are all just about the same dimensions - reminds me of a rectangle walking down the street. Well, NO MORE! The IP diet is going well and I plan to stick with it.

hpnodat 08-11-2011 10:45 AM

Geez! I had no idea this thread was here or I'd been here a long time ago. I lie and say I'm 5' even though I'm really 4'11.75". :dizzy:
I completely understand what everyone has said thus far.
Lately I've been troubled because I'm realizing how much weight I'd have to lose to no longer be considered of normal weight. I see so many people setting their goal weights at 160+ but even at that weight I'd still be considered obese. It's sad.

There's this website, try it. Enter your height and weight to see other people at that height & weight. OR the weight you want to be. http://www.mybodygallery.com/

Unfortunately, there are no photos of a female 5' at 248 lbs for me to look at. But i could see what I'd look like at 120 lbs or 150 lbs. It's really cool.

SHORTIES - 5' 2" & Under.......

bad my weigh-in today. 14.4 lb in 4 weeks! Hooray!!

Mariposa24 08-11-2011 05:32 PM

that is excellent dancer 41!!!

TheExSkinnyGirl 08-18-2011 04:12 PM

Shortie here!

Well, hello ladies! I'm brand new around here but definitely not new to the weight loss game.

I'm 4"11 and I haven't stepped on the scale in a long time. I had my second child a year ago and I'm still carrying around the weight. All in my doing of course. I estimate I am 165, I'd say.

I'm starting Herbal Magic on Monday and will know for sure then. I did HM with my first baby and lost over 60 pounds and was in the best shape of my life. I'm such a gastronome though!

Wish me luck and nice to meet you all.

-TESG;)

SHORTIES - 5-2" & Under

Another good week! I am down to 171 lb - only 21 lb to reach goal. Am starting to wear clothes that have been taking up space in my closet for way too long:-) Now they are beginning to fit! Will have to head out to Goodwill soon for "transition" clothes.

TheExSkinnyGirl 08-20-2011 10:50 AM

Congrats on your loss. I just started my journey yesterday and I am very excited to start seeing results. I weighed in at 156.4, lets see where I'm at on Monday! I think I will lose a lot of water weight first!

Ryler832 08-20-2011 11:04 AM

Hi all,

Another shorty here. I am 5' 0.6" (every inch counts).

Most of my friends weigh more than I do but they are so much taller. They always tell me I don't need to lose weight simply because I weigh less than they do. They have no idea what 5 lb. could do to a shorty. When I was at my heaviest of 147, I looked like a stumbling penguin. I hated hiding behind people and being in the back of every picture. I was 110-115 when I graduated high school and first year of college. I don't know if I can ever get back to that but I guess I'll never know if I don't try, right?

TheExSkinnyGirl 08-20-2011 12:10 PM

Stay strong and stay focused! You can do it! I'm keeping a positive mind and still have much to lose! Set mini goals and work towards them!

dancer41 08-21-2011 02:18 PM

SHORTIES - 5'2" & Under.....

I know all about trying to hide behind others for photographs. At my height and weight, I look like a big rectangle standing there :-(. At least now I am feeling a lot better about that! My solution was to hide behind a camera and do all the picture taking. I really look forward to not trying to hide in loose fitting clothes or behind others. Since I am a senior in years (60+), it is getting harder but the health benefits are definitely worth the effort. Unfortunately, I definitely fell off the wagon this weekend and will have to work doubly hard this week - sigh.

TheExSkinnyGirl 08-22-2011 10:11 PM

My first weigh-in and I'm down 2 pounds!!!

Endlessrain 08-28-2011 12:05 PM

SO happy I found this thread. Sometimes I look around 3fc and it feels like everyone is 5'9 haha. I'm actually slightly under 5'2"... but I round up. When you're short it is SO hard to disguise weight loss. I swear I gain like 2lbs and I look so much heavier. I'm pear shaped so everything goes into the hips. :'( We got our in-school checkups last year and I got a little upset about it. I told them it was my weight that bothered me. They didn't even understand it. They told me that there was no way I was over 120. And I was 135 at the time. I guess being a pear enables my top half to look small enough that I can fool people.

I always end up gaining/ losing all the time so my pants never seem to fit right. I'm a tightish 6 short petite (that means I'm short by petite standards i guess :'( ). It is SO hard to go shopping for petites sometimes. Sears by me doesn't even have a petite department. There's only a few odds and ends of sizes scared in the store. And they're usually a size 16 or 12 medium. Even if I were to gain weight they wouldn't fit me. I've never been able to fit into anything but short jeans. I'm glad they invented heels. <3

Dancer41- I'm the worst with hiding behind others in photos. Or I'm taking them- in which case it's irrelevant. I love taking pictures so much. XD

liliesinmycereal 08-31-2011 02:22 PM

Thanks for the link!!! It's also nice to hear that people understand that it feels like I need a low number (closer to 119-125 pounds). My waist feels like it's getting smaller but my pants size hasn't changed too much. I'm at a 10/12 with 160 pounds and I really would rather be in the single digits with smaller legs because I feel like I'm skinny fat.

grammygal 09-02-2011 10:28 AM

Hi I hope you are still on this thread, I am new and short. I was 5'2 but I think I shrunk because I am also old lol. Anyway I find that at my weight 158.4 nothing is left to the imagination. It is pretty darn obvious but I am losing although on a plateau for 3 days. Tomorrow should be a big breakthrough day for me. Good luck all.

liliesinmycereal 09-08-2011 02:44 PM

I'm still on this thread welcome!!! :D

AndLy 09-08-2011 05:59 PM

Yay, shorties! I had no idea this thread was here and I've been a member on and off for 7 years. I'm about 5'1 1/2". I would say my perfect weight is about 117 but I'm not sure how attainable that is for myself. I have my current goal set to 145 but I know I want to be below 130. I always hated that my younger, taller sister could hide any weight she gained just because of her height. Weight is so visible on us shorties :( I like being a shorty don't get me wrong but it just stinks being heavy and short. I loved being the "tiny" one back in school.

SC Vitamin C 09-08-2011 06:17 PM

5'0 here. Glad to see a lot more shorties like me here!

I know how it feels I'm about the same height. I've never been under 140 in my adult life so I don't know how it's going to feel but I started at a higher weight! You can do it!!! I know you can!

0059500 09-09-2011 11:34 AM

I saw 114.2 this morning - most amazing feeling ever! Although it's not my goal, I'm happy to be where I'm at now and to know that I'm not carrying around that extra 20 lbs I was back in May. It's been such a long, difficult journey but all worth it in the end :) being short, it feels like it's 10x more difficult to lose each pound

Ryler832 09-17-2011 04:58 PM

Another shortie here. I am 5' 0.7" (every inch counts). Being short has is pros and cons. A 5 lb gain on us shorties shows a lot.

Some people can eat what they want and how much they want without gaining. My younger sister (with one child) is 4'11" and she has never weighed over 90 lb (except during her pregnancy). One meal for her is literally 3 meals for me.

Is it weird that it's more exciting to see the changes rapidly... of course in the losing way... I'm hoping to be in the single digits with the next 10 pounds.

Ahhh, the single digits. I remember those *sigh*. I can't wait until I'm back there again

liliesinmycereal 09-20-2011 08:13 PM

I haven't been in the single digits since I was in middle school so it will be new for me and the weird thing is that I'm smaller this time losing weight and weighing more. Bodies are so weird..

kamesennin 02-14-2012 11:25 AM

Heeeey anyone still out there? I am determined to eat on plan today! I suppose it would be good to write down said plan. Lol

Quiet Ballerina 02-14-2012 01:42 PM

kamesennin I was just thinking about this thread the other day! It's been awhile, but I'm still a shortie. :)

kamesennin 02-14-2012 10:57 PM

Yay! I cant believe how much I weigh. Ugh. But I ran 3 mi at the gym today, at a pretty good clip? I just don't get it :( at least I am in shape I suppose.
