happy2bme 10-16-2010 11:53 AM

Good morning girls,

Happy Saturday. A sunny and cool one here - perfect autumn day. Not sure we will get much color this season - we haven't had rain since I can't remember when. The leaves are withering, turning brown and falling off although there are a few brave trees that are trying hard to push some reds out. We have to take DH's car into the shop to get a part replaced for a recall. I have to pour over the health care benefits materials, do some intensive comparison work and decide on which is the best plan for us so I can sign up the week after next. Then it's on to some house cleaning and I'll join you all in a round of decluttering. I wish I could sell some of this stuff - paintings, lots of books, things I bought which sounded like a good idea at the time and never got used :o The good thing is that I have a retirement goal in mind and have decided that I really don't need to bring in anything else. I keep getting emails and catalogs and coupons from the stores - some with really fabulous deals - but I say to myself - I don't need anything more. Closets are about to burst - need to give them some breathing room like Ceejay. And I have bathroom closets full of shampoos and lotions and soaps that I need to use up - even if some of them - particularly the extra moisturizing ones - I don't particularly care for the smell of. I have noticed the seasons changing - my skin is getting dry and itchy. Anyway - I'm sure the weekend will fly by quickly.

Mel - I'm sorry the shot is playing havoc with your body. It really is a dilema isn't it? Can't afford to get sick, but the prevention is just about as troublesome as what you are trying to stave off. Hope you feel better. Get your rest and ride it out. Sounds like it takes a few weeks for your body to accomodate the vaccine. Look at it this way - at least you can make a graceful exit from all the demands of the office and the seniors. Leave Mellie alone peeps  Sending you some feeling good dust my friend :wizard:

Shad - I like the show Undercover Boss too. I enjoy how the CEOs do such a rotten job at the real work that keeps the companies afloat. I think they all need to come out from the clouds and see how the real half lives. With you talking about the laundry I had a pleasant thought of wash hanging out on the line in the sun flapping in the breeze. Didn't think of chasing it down to the neighbors tho  DH said if we get a place up north with lots if acres (ie hidden from the neighbors' view) I can get a small clothesline. Thusfar he has forbid it. Pray tell - what is a WOF year???

I am sorry to hear of your dental woes but I can totally relate. I would advocate against leaving a gap. I have not been good about wearing my lower partial because it's annoying and it hate it. Because of that teeth have shifted and my bite has changed and now I have problems with my front teeth because the bottom are hitting them and have worn a ridge into them. Years and years of drinking Coca Cola (believe it people) have also worn the enamel down. (I feel I am not spelling words right today so forgive my spelling errors). Next year I will have to put more money than I care to into my teeth. It seems like a crown lasts about 10 years. Longer if you have no pressure points hitting the teeth. I thought the idea of an implant was a good one until one of my coworkers had it done. It is not only expensive but is quite a lengthy ordeal - many visits to the dentist. And come to find that once completed you can say goodbye to ever eating certain foods again like sticky stuff (caramel and taffies) as well as popcorn. That's like having gastric bypass surgery :yikes: The sweets would not bother me near as much as giving up popcorn. Based on what he went through, I think I'd continue with crowns myself. Sounds like your bank account is going to take quite a hit. My theory with the dental is that the insurance companies have gotten the medical communities to agree to certain fees for their services. And that's all they can charge. Dental on the other hand here at least - the insurance company pays a set amount - anything else is the patient's responsibility. So if you want to spend less on your teeth - go find a cheaper dentist. No incentive on their part to lower rates. Also I have noticed that there are an awful lot of admin people in the dental office compared to the doctor's office. A hygentist, 3 assistants, 2 insurance people, a receptionist, someone to take appointments and collect money - all of that costs money.

Ceejay - good for you for cleaning out the closets. Be careful with the Drano. I have heard that because it's so caustic if you have a clog it can sit in the clog and actually destroy your pipes. There is some mix of vinegar and baking soda which is supposed to be quite effective - I can look it up if you like. When we remodelled our kitchen years ago, they removed the cabinets and we were astounded at how narrow the opening was from the sink to the outside wall. All sorts of gross gunk. It had to be scraped with a trowel. Call the landlord. Or in our case there was some obstruction that needed to be pushed out. They also pulled out a plug of long black hair that certainly did not belong to either of us

Annie - hope you had a really nice dinner with Dad last night and a good night's sleep. Sounds like you have a tiring weekend ahead of you. Don't know where you get your energy. Just one step in front of the other sista.

Michelle - hope your back allows for a little hike this weekend. Good luck on the Zumba gold class. Try to curb your excitement and break into a full rumba  I know it will be hard to hold back!

Laura - yay for getting your money back - or at least them agreeing to give it back. We had the mortgage company mess us up a couple of times on the escrow account - like paying the taxes twice in one segment and dunning us for the shortage on their mistake - so we closed escrow and paid the insurance and taxes ourselves. Go out and enjoy that nice weekend. I hear the colors are gorgeous up that way. Go for a walk - less dangerous than riding your bike and trying to leaf peep

I need to go shower up so I'm ready in time to follow DH to the dealership and drop off his car so I'd better get rolling.

Have a great weekend.

ceejay52 10-16-2010 02:08 PM

I'm loving this fall weather.

Mel
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. So far I've not had any side affects from the flu shot that I got Wenesday. Rest this week end..
Tell Jen to feel better soon also.

Happy
I really would like to retire at 62 but not sure if I could financially. I'm not sure if someone would hire me at age 60. I would love to have an 8 hour a day job and be in the medical field. These 12 hours are getting to me. This will be a topic for my sister, nephew and I to discuss the week of the 25-29. My nephew now works for the social security office. Vacation is getting closer.

It's time to plan menu's for the next 4 day's, go to the grocery store.

Laura705 10-16-2010 02:21 PM

Hello all.

Ceejay - good for cleaning the closets. I have been getting rid of some stuff, but not en masse. It takes me a while to decide, nope I don't think I like this enough to wear it anymore. And I have some clothes that were gifts and have "sentimental value". But I really should just snap a photo of them because it's unlikely I'll be wearing them. Hope you get the drain snaked - you don't want the drano to eat the pipes, or have a clog on your hands!

Shad - Sorry about the tooth. Sounds like the decision will be an expensive one.

Happy -I agree - I probably have enough in most areas of material items, well, except maybe for pictures on the walls. I used to love looking through the sale flyers in the Sunday papers and now I rarely bother. Yeh, the colors are gorgeous here this year - hope to get out tomorrow and enjoy them.

Mel - Sorry the flu shot side effects have returned for you and Jen. Take it easy this weekend and just enjoy yourself.

Hellos to Annie & Michelle. Did we lose Cincy?

Gorgeous day. I got my mammo over with for the year. Hair is done too. I'm not doing anything that will require me to shower again today since my hair is actually styled, and I want to keep it that way for tonight's fundraiser, LOL. So I'll go to Trader Joe's and Target with the list.

Re decluttering - I brought two boxes of books over to a charity resale shop today after my hair appt - one full of paperbacks, the other with hardcovers. Then I bought 5 more paperbacks for a dollar.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get out and rake the front. The trees in front lose their leaves at the normal time. The two giants in back take their sweet time about it and usually decide to drop them right after both the curbside and container leaf pickup programs have ended.

Well, I better grab my shopping list and head out. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend ladies! :sunny:

MELODY525 10-17-2010 06:43 AM

THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM....BUT I LET HIM GO!

I'VE BEEN UP SINCE 6 AND THE BLDG IS SO QUIET THAT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF...OOPS....I JUST HEARD MY NEIGHBOR SNEAK OUT QUIETLY. THIS RESTING BUSINESS CAN GET ON ONE'S NERVES. SO JEN AND I SAT HERE LAST NIGHT YAKKING AND THEN RICHIE CAME HOME AND JOINED US. HE SAW MY PC DESK UNIT WAS ABOUT 1/4 " AWAY FROM TOPPLING OVER AND REMEDIED THE SITUATION. IT'S UP ON BRICKLS AND ONE LEG WAS CLOSE TO THE EDGE..OH MY!!
THAT'S THE MOST EXCITING THING THAT HAPPENED ALL DAY.
HOPE YOU ARE ALL ENJOYING THE WEEKEND:moped:

HAPPY...SO MANY RECALLS IN CARS THESE PAST FEW YEARS. HOPE IT'S ALL FIXED AND READY TO GO. I WAS LAUGING AT THE PART ABOUT YOUR BULGNG CLOSETS....JEN AND I HAD A DISCUSSION OF THAT'S HOW WE GOT INTO DEBT IN THE FIRST PLACE...WE THOUGHT WE NEEDED ALL THAT STUFF...GOTTA HAVE IT! NOW I AM REALLY TRYING TO TRAIN MY BRAIN IN THE REVERSE. I DIDN'T NEED THE STUFF...I JUST WANTED IT. THOUGHT I WAS BUYING MYSELF HAPPINESS. JEN TOO.
SO GOOD FOR YOU!! NO MORE SPENDING SPREES!!

CEEJAY...DIDN'T REALIZE YOUR VACATION WAS SO CLOSE. HOPE YOU'LL HAVE A GREAT TIME. IT'S GOOD YOU HAVE THE NEPHEW TO GIVE YOU ANY ADVICE YOU NEED.
IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE AN 8 HR JOB. DON'T KNOW HOW YOU DID THOSE LONG DAYS ALL THESE YEARS!

LAURA....NICE TO GET ALL BEAUTIFIED FOR THE FUNDRAISER...HOPE YOU BOTH HAD A GREAT TIME. DON'T MESS THE HAIR UP RAKING TODAY....WE HAVE BIG WINDS HERE!! TRADER JOES!! I MISS IT!!!

ceejay52 10-17-2010 08:59 AM

Back to work this morning. So far so good. I like it to be quiet. I have the door's open to let in some fresh air. My co-worker is a smoker and I could smell it on her this morning. The scent lingers.

Laura
I was wondering the same thing about Cin.

Mel
You are an early bird.

I cleaned the living room and vacuumed the office last night. My house is getting back to normal. Monday night I'll do my bedroom. Still doing good on the exercise.

Laura705 10-17-2010 12:59 PM

Happy Sunday. I've been semi-lazy all morning, so I'll be getting dressed and ready for raking soon. Another gorgeous day out there!! Loving it.

Mel - Glad Richie noticed the precarious situation the desk was in!! You don't need anything toppling and getting damaged and costing you $$ to replace. Glad it's quiet - you need that.

Ceejay - Glad the house clean up is going well (as I look at a pile of "stuff" in the corner of our home office). Stay in the groove and your place will look great. :) I just don't tolerate smoke very well these days. BF's Friday night work thing took place at a cigar bar and he came home reeking - his jacket went out in the 3-season room to air out, his clothes down in the basement for laundering, and his body went in the shower!! Glad it was nice enough that you could open the door for fresh air.

The fundraiser was very nice last night. BF's niece is so cute - quite an improvement from the little brat she used to be, lol. I actually had a nice mature conversation w/ bf's brother (with whom bf recently decided to bury the hatchet). But I still have no desire to get friendly again w/ the bf's wife.

Okay, time to post and get dressed! Enjoy your Sunday/Monday ladies!

Shad 10-17-2010 06:04 PM

Thought I had posted yesterday. Obviously not. Look out I'm losing it.

I'll be back when I think of what I wanted to say.

MELODY525 10-18-2010 07:54 AM

:cofdate: GOOD MORNING.
LOTS TO DO TODAY. FIRST IS MAKE AN "EMPTY" REPORT....ONLY SMOKE ALARMAS. NOTHING EARTH SHATTERING HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND.
YESTERDAY WAS GORGEOUS FOR AWHILE IN THE AFTERNOON. LOTS OF LOVELY SUN :sunny:
I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING EXCITING EITHER...I WATCHED AN ALL DAY MARATHON OF SCOOBY DOO CARTOONS:rofl:
TOOK THE DAY OFF FROM THINKING!
HAPPY MONDAY/TUESDAY :moped:

CEEJAY...I AM REALLY BEGINNING TO HATE THAT SMELL OF SMOKE...AND I WAS A HEAVY SMOKER. OUR LOBBY GETS FULL OF IT BECAUSE OF TENANTS THAT SMOKE BY THE DOOR. YUCK. AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR HOUSE...YOU CAN VISIT ALL THE CHICKS AND GET US CLEANING AGAIN! A CLEAN HOUSE MAKES A CLEAR MIND! ENJOY!

LAURA...GLAD THE FUNDRAISER WAS NICE. AMAZING HOW KIDS CAN ACTUALLY TURN OUT TO BE SOME NICE ADULTS. LOL HOPE THE PEACE BETWEEN THE BROTHERS LASTS...CAN IMAGINE WHAT HIS DW IS SAYING. :lol3:

SHAD....ARE YOU STILL THINKING OF WHAT TO SAY????
YOU'VE HAD A BUSY MONTH WITH VISITORS AND WORK SO WE'LL LET YOU SLIDE ON THE POSTING

happy2bme 10-18-2010 08:19 AM

Good morning to yahs,

Not sure where the last hour went, but it flew past. I should have posted instead of tidying up the kitchen  Now I don't have enough time to say much of anything except I hope you had a nice weekend and I'll get on at lunch.

I am challenging myself to cut back all but a minimum of sugar - for just a week. This should be interesting...

Later ladies.

annie175 10-18-2010 08:38 AM

Good Morning to Youse!!

Whew what a fast weekend. Only thing I did around the house was laundry and run the dishwasher. That's ok cause I ran my heiny off at CVS. Pulling outdated crap off the shelves. Restocking the beer, wine and liquor aisle. That takes about 3 hours in itself. Restocked the milk cooler twice. CVS needs to invest in some cows, wow do we go through the milk fast.

Happy...come clean my closet out. I still have not gotten that done. It is the same closet I was chatting with Shad about on FB. I just can't seem to get in the mood to tackle it. I finally came to a plan of what I want to do with stuff, but just not intereseted in doing it.

Ceejay...good job on the exercising. Keep up the good work. Somebody needs to do it and Lord knows it is not me.

Laura...glad you had a good time at the fundraiser. You were probably just beautiful with your new do.

MELLIE...Clean house, clear mind. If that is the case then my mind is blank cause it it always clean, except the closet. lol

Shad....if you think you are losing it, then you are not. It is when you don't realize anything that you have lost your mind. There is still hope for you my sista.

Well I started off good. Two hard boiled eggs and two small tomatos for breakfast. THen....I got to work...one mini Payday candy bar and two rice crispy treats. I mean WTF is wrong with me. I didn't even make it a half day without a screw up. Trying to get back with it now, is it because all the goodies are nearly gone? Or that bit of sugar has made me feel like crap. I would love to lie down and sleep right now. Take a honk shu!

Best get my rear in gear!

Hey to Chelle...Patti...Cincy???...

LOve and hugs,

Laura705 10-18-2010 11:00 AM

Good morning all. Back to Monday. Bah!

Shad - You mean you don't just want to babble on about nothing and not really say anything?

Happy - Good luck w/ the limited sugar challenge!

Mel - Glad your report was empty! I watched most or all of three Lifetime movies this weekend - I'm sure I'll be wishing for those hours back at some point. And it's not even the holidays yet, LOL!!

Annie - I think I remember the saying as "clean house, dirty mind", or maybe it's "clean house, sick mind"... No more sugar if it's making you feel crummy!! :rollpin:

So I raked leaves yesterday afternoon. Only one of our 4 large trees are done losing leaves, so there’s plenty more raking to come. My hands, arms and shoulders were feeling it by evening. I’m still having some annoying sensitivity on my left hand, and the beginning of a blister. Yes, I was wearing gloves! It was good exercise though. Watched part of the Bears game (switched back and forth between that and a Lifetime movie) :D

Food was so so, and I didn’t do any formal exercise this weekend. This week isn’t looking that good for getting to the fc for my cardio workouts. I have a lunch appointment today, and lunches set up for Wed. & Thurs. Tomorrow morning will be entirely taken up w/ a training session - not sure if I’ll be able to fit in the fc. Friday’s still open. My once a week average for cardio at the building fitness center is most unimpressive.

Okay, better get this posted and get working. Have a good Monday/Tuesday! :)

annie175 10-18-2010 12:44 PM

Hmmmmmm Laura, my left breastie nip is a little tender, I hope that does not mean I am in for TOM. Haven't had one of those in about 4 months. Shouldn't be having any at all. Seems like everyone here raked leaves this past weekend and feel the pain. Our neighborhood is young. The addition is like 6 years old, the tallest tree is about 20 feet, maybe. No leaves. AND if you wait long enough they will blow over to the neighbors house.

happy2bme 10-18-2010 01:47 PM

Well so far so good. Had some LF yogurt with fresh berries for breakfast. Veggie soup and some Wheat Thins with a small slice of shaved chicken breast. Had some flavored (sugar) creamer in my one cup of java this morning - sorry kids - ain't giving that one up  Had cinammon tea this morning, milk at lunch. Forgot to bring my 1 percent in the new cup I just bought yesterday so drinking 2 percent from the cafeteria. I have grapes for lunch to cover the sugar thing - they are actually less glycemic than I would have thought. DH gets the watermelon all to himself. This reminds me of quitting smoking. The first 24 hours you can be brave but THEN... :s:  I do intend to blog/journal how I feel as a reminder because as Annie and Laura say - it does make you feel like a turd if you stop and actually pay attention to it.

Laura - your fitness center kind of reminds me of dancing with the devil with the gym equipment at home. I purchased a really good yoga DVD about 5 weeks ago - keep telling myself that I need to set aside 45 minutes to walk on the treadmill and do the yoga and it's not like I intentionally disregard it - but I think about it as I'm climbing the stairs going to bed. Just because it's nearby doesn't always make it convienient ;) Do you rake your leaves to the street for pick up? I always thought that was kinda silly - yeah you save on not buying the recycle bags or stickers but the cars pass by and the wind seems to blow them right back on the lawn again  I don't like the smell of cigarettes either but I can tolerate it for short bursts. REALLY hate the smell of cigars - always have, always will. Ugh. Having to sit in cigar bar would be torture for me.

Annie - there is one house that always seems to attract the leaves. Hopefully it's not yours because you have ENOUGH to do. So people are buying up all the liquour and finishing it off with a milk chaser? I thought you only did that with Baileys? Don't you ever get a vacation girl? You work soooo hard. I would just fall flat in the liquor aisle one day - tired or drunk?

Mel - can't the seniors smoke in their apartments? Geez - it's not like it's an office building where they push you outside. I'm surprised the non-smoking seniors don't complain. My Mom is VERY VOCAL about cigarette smoke. :smoking: Glad you finally got some sun. Did you get out and enjoy it or was Scooby Doo too much of a distraction? I sure am glad that the desk did not topple into you. Could have been very bad.

Ok so all of a sudden the idea of a Stella Doro brand annisette toast has floated through my head. Haven't had one of those since, I don't know when. Predecessor to the biscotti delicacies. :T

Shad - you are probably doing what I do. Post on Facebook thinking I posted here. :dizzy: It sounds like you are getting tired of working too. I think we need to put our commune plans into place.

Ceejay - yay for you for sticking with the exercise! :yay: I'm jealous that you can open your office door and get some fresh air. We have lots of doors here but they all screech with alarms if you open them. When is your vacation again?

Michelle -saw on FB that you had a nice weekend. Did Doppler get his fill of running around and tire himself out? How are you feeling?

That's enough for me - time to get back to my reports. :comp: Later...

Hi everyone -

I'm doing great! Super busy at work, but that's a good thing. I had a wonderful weekend. I was outside A LOT this weekend with Doppler and the other two doggies. It was SO gorgeous outside with temps near 70 and SUN SUN SUN!! I asked the PT which way he'd prefer for me to deal with the leaves on my lawn since DH was working on my car and his truck. He gets his transmission tomorrow (hopefully), so he'll spend next weekend working on his truck again. I told my PT it was either riding the lawn mower or raking...he said definitely riding the mower would be better. Turns out I didn't do either. I was going to...but I looked up at the trees, realized that not even 25% of the leaves had fallen, and decided to do the leaf mulching and gutters next weekend. So I layed in my chaise lounge reading, relaxing and soaking up the sun!

Doppler and the other dogs had a blast being outside so much! And they slept well at night. :)

Got a meeting in a minute...I'll try and read what y'all were up to and post some more later.

Love and hugs,

Laura705 10-18-2010 03:43 PM

Annie - I sure wish all the leaves would blow away - but I'd still get some from down the block I'm sure. I need to have bf mow the lawn very short so the leaves don't have anything to nestle into so they can blow away should the wind decide to blow!

Happy - Actually, the convenience of the fc is offset by the inconvenience of hauling my gym gear to work. I really didn't need another bag to carry. RE the leaves - first we have curbside pickup - we rake them into the street along the curb and a sweeper thingy sucks them up. A month or so later we have bagged pickup. I prefer the curb - bagging is a PITA. No cost for either, so it would be nice for the trees to be done losing leaves by the time the bag pickup ends, but our trees are stubborn and that rarely happens.

Michelle - Glad you had a nice weekend and no labor - PT's orders. It was a great weekend to be outdoors, that's for sure. :D

ceejay52 10-18-2010 06:42 PM

pooh bear I posted on the wrong page but copied and pasted but I suppose you have to post it or it will be lost.

Happy and Mel
My vacation starts Thursday which is my 4 day week end. I'm taking vacation day's for the 25th, 26th and 27 and next week is my 3 day week end. A total of 10 day's in a row. Yeeeeeeeehaw.

Happy
I should be cutting out sugar also but right now it's in moderation. Just Like the caffiene.

Laura
Sounds like you had a busy week end.

Annie
You get a good work work out restocking those shelves. Those gallon jugs of milk are probably close to 8 pounds a piece. In my opinion I'm getting a little to old to be climbing around and under these big old pipes down stairs but I do on ocassion.

Michelle
I'm glad you opted not to do the leaves this week end. The dog's enjoyed your company more.

We had an early morning meeting with the Mayor. It's election time once again. I will be sad if he is defeated. He's been signing my pay checks for the past twenty years. People are upset with high light bills. But some of those are due to non pay. I know I see the cut off list. He invited us to a rally on Saturday and I'm thinking about going to show my support. Early voting has started today so I'm going to vote on Thursday.

Today I can honestly say that I've been on plan with food. And tonight I'll probably have left over pizza.

Need to get up and get some things done before going home time. The boss rought some lab chemicals I need to put up.

Shad 10-18-2010 08:13 PM

Well done Ceejay - on plan eating for the day. I haven't exactly been overeating but let me tell you, this vegetarian stuff (blame DS1) is not exactly diet friendly in many cases. Seems like too many carbs for me.

Happy - Your dinner last night sounded really good. DH is getting into the swing of things nicely. I'm aware of being on both Facebook and here, but I think as far as Sunday went, I planned what I was going to say, said it but never posted it. DS1 would have come along and closed the session to do something else and splat - gone forever. Love some of those oneliners you posted

Michelle - Nice to hear that you had a relaxing weekend. It doesn't do any harm once in a while. My Sunday was pretty quiet and easy. And I didn't do much in the way of housework. DS1 did the washing and folding. Might keep him around for a while.

Laura - raking is good exercise. Around here the leaves rarely fall of the trees, the new season growth pushes them off. I have a big poinciana tree in the front yard which is dropping leaves and sending out new ones, and give it another few weeks and the flower buds will be there. Glorious tree but messy. I can babble with the best but yesterday was not a good day. I was ready to quit yesterday.

Annie - TOM tends to arrive at inconvenient moments towards the end. However just think how nice it will be when he goes away forever and ever. You can start living then. Milk in gallon jars - they must be big. I suppose they would be the equivalent to our 2 litre packs which is a little more than a gallon but not much. Each litre of liquid weighs in at a kilo which is 2.2lbs more or less. So if you carried two of them you were lifting 8.8lbs - good exercise for those arms.

Mel - I didn't have a good day yesterday, and if I had access to the makings, I may have caused some explosive damage to a few people yesterday. I all but quit around 2.pm I'm still not sure I want to be here and won't be signing on again after this project unless they can prove that there is work for me to do. Glad to hear that you had a relaxing brainless weekend. Doesn't do any harm once in a while. We work hard enough for it for petes sake.

DS2 comes home tonight. I have told everyone in a loud clear voice that I will be shutting down my computer and heading out come 3.00pm and anyone who wants to speak to me after that can shout loudly.
I think we might have a bbq this weekend and invite the rellies and friends around for food and drink. That is if the weather stays as it is now. DS1 is quite good to have around. I was doing some work for Mick yesterday afternoon and he went and prepared the food for dinner, put the pumpkin into roast and chopped up leek and onion and garlic for the risotto. All I had to do was cook the risotto while he watched so he could do it for himself next time. As I said previously, he did the washing and folding. Won't iron tho'. And hasn't swept the floor either. But other than that I don't mind him doing his thing. He goes for a bike ride every morning, then plays squash some nights. We rub along okay. He is studying something called Virtual Storage something, something, something. I went to sleep during the explanation. But then again so did he when I was explaining the joys of BOMs (Bills of Material) and their creation in SAP. The screen dumps in the doco I had from Mick turned pink when I attempted to clean them up and make them easier to read. Since I know that no tradesman or miner worth his salt will take any notice of pink doco, I had to change the colours in everything. Rotten horrible job.

Anyway, I'd better go and get excited about cost controlling in projects and delivering budgets (yawn) which no doubt will be exceeded. I'll be back when time permits.

happy2bme 10-18-2010 10:37 PM

Shad - you know how to make risotto? Teach me please.

Shad 10-19-2010 05:22 AM

Next time I come over, we can have risotto. Whatever variety you like.

diyana 10-19-2010 07:56 AM

Happy Tuesday ladies -

DH had to get to work really early...so that meant he dropped me off really, really early. I'm sleepy now and drinking a diet Mtn. Dew hoping that will hold me over until the cafeteria opens so I can get some coffee.

Happy - I'm so glad that you and DH have worked out a retirement plan. :) I haven't gotten to a Zumba Gold class yet...but I'm hoping to next week when I have my own wheels back and I don't get home as late as I do carpooling with DH.

Ceejay - You had a very productive weekend!!! I've got to clean my closets and go through my clothes...a project for when it's too cold to be outside. :bravo: on the exercising!! Wow, 10 days off in a row!! Good for you!!! Are you going to spend the whole time with your sister?

Shad - Glad you're enjoying DS1's visit. So nice that he is helping with the cooking and laundry. Do you hire him out? And now that DS2 is back, enjoy the moments with the family together. :) So sorry to hear about your tooth/teeth. Dental work is so dang expensive and painful! :( Thanks for the encouragement to get walking. I am going to start to increase my walking time. My PT gave me a new brace yesterday that offers MUCH more support than the first one she gave me...but is not as constricting as the one DH bought me awhile back. So now I have 3 offering varying levels of support. I can walk 15 minutes at a time now. Hopefully with the new brace, I'll be able to do 30 minutes at a time, and do that twice a day.

Mel - I sure hope you and Jen are feeling better by now. I'm glad Richie fixed your computer desk so it wouldn't fall over.

Laura - I'm glad we're not the only ones with slow-poke trees. DH and I joke that we're lucky if two of our giant trees drop their leaves before the snow falls. It's supposed to rain next week, so I'm hoping to mulch the leaves with the mower this weekend, and also clean out the gutters - even though they'll need to be done again when the rest of the leaves fall. All the talk about the cigarette/cigar smoke...I am super sensitive to it as well. On the rare occasion where I go somewhere that there is smoking, first thing I do as soon as I get inside is strip down to my undies and toss everything down in the basement to get washed. Then I shower and wash all the smoke stench out of my hair. I nearly forgot to mention...when we were running errands in Milwaukee over the weekend, DH and I stopped in a store so I could try out an inversion machine. I did about 15 degrees of inversion for about 10 minutes (not very steep, but it's where they say beginners should start out) and it was really good. They also gave me a form letter I can give my doc to fill out at my next appointment so I can submit it to Flex Spending (FSA) and get reimbursed. Of course, this store's inversion machine was $800 - way to expensive for me - so I'm going to look into the less expensive $200 or $300) ones. It is recommended to do 10 minutes twice a day to decompress your disks/spine. I have A LOT of FSA dollars to use up before the end of the year, so I'm also going to get new glasses in the next few weeks.
Annie - Sounds like you definitely worked your arse off at CVS. Girlfriend, I don't know how you do it. I get tired just reading about your schedule. As for leaves blowing away...we have a fenced yard so no such luck.

Lots to get done today so I'd better get to it.

Here's to a great day for all of us!

Lots of love and hugs,

happy2bme 10-19-2010 08:18 AM

Good morning kids,

Up before the birds, are you Michelle? That's rough when you have to get in so early. I'd be dragging the coffee pot from home in with me  Hopefully you can stay awake. That inversion machine sounds neat and if you have the Flex Spending dollars - better to spend them - particularly if it's in the use it or lose it account. We did not anticipate the medical and dental costs this year - I should have maxed out the account since I had spent all my dollars by FEBRUARY of this year :yikes: I'm glad to hear that the inversion seemed to do you some good. You must be in a rough spot if you need a brace to walk - I didn't realize it was quite that bad. But hey, whatever helps. I wonder if going back to pantyhose would have kept my belly smaller with the support  Go enjoy your coffee now, we'll catch you later.

Ceejay - 10 whole days off - Wonderful :yay: no wonder you're excited. I'll bet you have a great time. It makes me a bit sad and fearful that people are not educated on politics and may get caught in the wave of toss EVERYONE out - even the beneficial ones to the detriment of us all.

Shad - I look forward to the day you can teach me how to make risotto. :D How nice to have both boys in town together. Hope you have a nice picnic with the family. How much longer do you have to endure this contract? Sounds like it's making you looney. I'm sorry they are making you crazy but such is the world today. When the heck did it get so goofy? And why does it stay that way? :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:

Laura - I didn't think about carrying a gym bag. You're right on top of lap top, lunch bag, purse, bag 'o stuff and gym bag - start to feeling like a pack mule. Not to mention the mile walk up and back to the train station with the sea of humanity.

Annie get your guns - and if you continue to stock 8 pound gallons of milk (the common size here Shad) you will be having some guns to show off to the CVS customers :lifter: I would just be cold :hyper:  You have boundless energy woman.

Mel - I feel you around me. I think you're the sneaker inner today. Hope you are having a good day

I did ok with the no sugar thing yesterday - I say mostly because I refuse to give up my one cup of a.m. coffee with flavored creamer - can't handle the sugar free stuff. I don't feel any different this morning. Still achy at first rise but we'll see how the week goes. I did long for a Coke a moment or two but it passed  And I stayed relatively calm.

And now it's off to the salt mines for me. See yahs later...

MELODY525 10-19-2010 08:22 AM

GOOD MORNING CHICKS/ HAPPY TUESDAY.

ceejay52 10-19-2010 09:30 AM

Morning every one

Food was good again yesterday. I'm proud of myself. However, there was no physical exercise. I decided that when I'm working I'll do my weight routine's. I still get plenty of movement through out the day at work. The calves of my legs have bee extremely sore the past two day's.

Got a letter from my health insurance wanting to know about an accident I had on 2-10 10. Can't remember that far back. But the only accident that I can think of is when I fell getting into the bath tub. I'll have to check with the doctor's office on this one.

Michelle
I like diet Mt dew. I feel like 5.30 a.m. is to early for me. Sometimes I feel as though I'm just turning over and it's time to get up.

Mel
I've been watching the Discovery Health and they had a commentary on our children. Some dying with heart disease at 20 from the food that they been eating. It's quite sad that we want a fast way out of everything including food. I'm' been in the same boat. The french fries smelled good last night when my co-worker opened her stash up and usually I will follow suite and stop by mcd on the way home. My goal this week is not to stop by any fast food except SubWay. And I haven't done that yet. Too much sodium.

Laura,Happy, Annie, Shad Have a good day.

annie175 10-19-2010 10:59 AM

Wow what a cool crisp morning....four looking at the fifth trot to the toitie. Must be full of sheet...lol

Got into work this morning and the network was down. Terrific. Since we do not have on site I.T. I had to take my cell phone to the server closet (very small) and crawl around in there checking hook ups and what not. Took about an hour and now the network is up. I guess I can add IT sheet to my resume...NOT.

Ceejay...have a marvelous 10 days off. I don't remember, are you going anywhere or just hanging out?

Shad...yeah I was vegetarian for 10 years, it is a lot of carbs and very hard to lose weight unless you eat all non starchy vegetables, and protein, fruits.

MELLIE...the nip is ok today, don't know what yesterday was about unless too much caffeine?? Yep on the too much sugar and fried stuff. I fixed fried green tomatos Sunday night after work, I was in heaven. I used Whistle Stop coating. OMG...so fattening and so good. YUM

Happy...sounds like you are slowing down on the sugar intake, that is a start to something good. We all have to start somewhere, my problem is finishing...

Chelle..hope DH gets the car situation all under control and you have your wheels back. Even if you decide to rake or cut grass, take it easy. No lifting trash bags of leaves. Get it, got it, GOOD.

Laura...clean house, dirty mind...um it would probably apply to me and MELLIE....we tend to think along the same track.....you know, with all the false alarms Mellie pulls to get the firemen out there...lol

Be back in a bit....conference call to get on...

love and hugs

annie175 10-19-2010 01:51 PM

I am back. I am now the "on-site" head of the remodeling for our office. That was what the conference call was abuot. Great!! At least I will get first dibs on office space since I am the president. lol

My sheeit number is up to 7. I think I ate one too many asparagus last night for dinner. It has slowed down to tolerable now. Working tonight at CVS, at least the truck does not come in til Thursday. I am beginning to rate Thursday's in the same category as Mondays.

Not much else going on here...just wanted to shout back as I said I would. Hope your day is going well for you all.

I think I saw that Cincy was posting to another thread, guess we didn't provide what she needed.

Love and hugs.

Laura705 10-19-2010 04:55 PM

Hey everyone! I had my annual CPR training class this morning, so I'm catching up this afternoon.

Shad - Nice that DS1 is doing some of the cooking and chores while he's visiting. Yeh, I think you have to be a very careful vegetarian to stay thin and healthy without eating any meat. He doesn't even eat fish? Sorry your latest work assignment is going the same as when the last one ended. Did you resolve the pink BOM?

Ceejay - Ooh, no work for 10 days sounds wonderful! :) :) I'm glad you have a mayor who's served you well. I think Happy guessed my voting strategy - vote all the incumbents out!! :D (oops, I almost typed indumbents, LOL) But then again, I'm in Illinois, where several of the governors have ended up in jail.

Happy - Glad your reduced sugar challenge went well yesterday. Keep it going girl! I meant to tell you I loved those one liners you posted yesterday. I have to cut and paste those and send them to a few people. One of my favorites is: "If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong." Re carrying all the stuff - yeh, even though I don't take home my laptop regularly, I still get that pack mule feeling too frequently.

Michelle - Yup, our trees are like that - leaves still clinging well into winter. BF hates it. Yesterday he called our trees "weeds". :( Good use of your FSA money for the inversion machine!

Mel - Maybe you need to get another bank person working to get your funds back to you - that woman doesn't sound like she really wants to do that! I received my new tax escrow analysis over the weekend, which seemed pointless since the escrow essentially will cease to exist, but it did reflect that, so I suppose it told me they at least understood my request. :D Even better - I was very pleasantly surprised yesterday to have received the check for the balance of the escrow funds! It was quicker than I thought it would be. Now I have to sock it away somewhere until the tax bill finally comes.

Annie - Sounds like your office will be around for a while yet if there are plans to remodel it, no? Hey, you get to order all kinds of primo office furniture for yourself, right?

Well, food's been so-so. I need to keep those OP statements right in my face - I end up doing the same old thing when I don't keep my goals front and center. And I need to track my eating!!! Yesterday I took doggy for a brisk walk and then did one BE workout. Feeling sore.

Tonight's the movie "Life as we Know It" - Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel. I like him; her - not so much. The premise sounds cute though (godparents thrown together to care for the orphaned baby). My neighbor friend who brought me into the movie group when I moved next door went into rehab yesterday. I've barely seen her lately, but she's been talking about this for quite a while. She's got an extremely addictive personality and has had trouble with everything - you name it - prescription drugs (for depression and anxiety), alcohol, cigarettes, shopping, internet... I hope the rehab helps her - she's very sweet and doesn't deserve all the tragedy and grief she's already had in her life.

Okay, better get back to it!~

Shad 10-19-2010 06:30 PM

Morning all,
Actually found something to do in the job yesterday. So when I left to go pick up DS2 I had some left over for this morning. It seems that if I need to have work, I have to get nasty and start to push. Well I can do that.

As I said yesterday, I have been doing some work for Mick and last night the boys and I went up to his office (not far from the airport) so I could give him the memory stick with the doco on board. I had to explain what I had done and why and bring him up to date since he will now be doing the training instead of me. Just to be nasty I gave him the pink tinged doco first and said that I thought it could become a trend in mining and maintenance. You should have seen the reaction.
DS2's luggage stayed in Sydney instead of being transhipped to the Brisbane plane so he had to have it couriered out to him last night.
When I got home, I found that DS1 had cleaned the kitchen, put the dishwasher on and swept the floors. Said he didn't have time to clean the bathroom. Y'gads what have I raised. They are both sooooooo different.

Michelle - so glad to hear that you are increasing the walking time and also have a new brace which should help with the back somewhat. I've never used one of those inverter thingys so can't comment. My ex spoke about getting one at one time, but never go around to it. Yikes about the coffee. The wee brew bar downstairs wasn't open either this morning when I got in. I'm off down to see if they are there yet shortly

Happy - I'm not sure how or why the world got so goofy. This job is strange because quite frankly I don't think that the project manager has his finger firmly on the pulse here. He tells me that things are going fine and on track, and all I am hearing is that things are not working the way they should and we haven't got that bit working yet, and uat will be put back because the system isn't ready yet. So somewhere along the line, messages are being mixed. Lucky I like reading.
I don't think a gallon pack of milk would fit in my fridge - oh it must do as I get 2 litres in there occasionally.

Mel - the angel hovering above Happy. I know you guys use pumpkin as a fruit - which technically it is. However so is a tomato, and I don't see that as being dessert flavour of the month. With the pumpkin we had the other night, we cut it into 2 inch cubes, then put some Bush spice into a plastic bag and dropped the pumpkin in. Swished it around and coated it with the spice and then roasted it off in a little oil or oil spray. I've only just found the bush spice in the store. It seems to be a mixture of lemon myrtle, desert lime, and some kind of bush grape or tomato. All dried and ground. You could do the same with cajun spice or morroccan spice and it would no doubt taste as good. Anyway, once cooked and dropped into the risotto which was cooked with a leek, garlic and vege stock, I dropped in some frozen peas and shaved some parmesan over the top. Looked pretty and DS1 said it tasted real good.
That bank lady sounded like she owned the bank. Why did they deduct the money in the first place??? Wasn't it a fee of some sort??? Isn't that theft by legalised fraud or something? Doesn't the bank make enough profit for her?
Hope all of the alarms have subsided today.

Ceejay - 10 days off with the family. Treasure the time. You've worked long and hard to take these days and family is family. Enjoy.
Good for you with the op eating as well.

Pres Annie - in charge of the renos. Look, listen and learn because there is bound to be something that they do in the office which you can use to improve your own place (like how to nail up the closet door so you don't see all the clothes you should get rid of).

Laura - all pink got resolved, however I did keep a pink copy just to blow Mick out of the water. Gotta get your kicks where there is opportunity - right?

Right - better go down and see if the coffee people are there. I NEED coffee - RIGHT BLOODY NOW!!!!

MELODY525 10-20-2010 07:41 AM

GOOD MORNING AND HAPPY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY

HAVE SOME STUFF TO SEND OUT AND I WANT TO GO DOWN BEFORE ANYONE GETS HERE. NOTHING NEW HERE STILL. WEATHER HAS BEEN GREAT BUT ONLY IN THE NAFTERNOONS. AT LEAST IT'S STILL A BIT OF FRESH AIR. I'LL MISS RIDING DOWN THE STREETS THOUGH.
HOPE YOU ALL HVE A GREAT DAY.:moped:

CEEJAY...I HEAR YA ON THE SMELL OF FRIES!! THEY MAKE MY MOUTH WATER BUT I KNOW THEY LAY LIKE LEAD IN MY BELLY. MAYBE IT'S A GOOD THING I CAN'T GET TO ANY FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS ;rofl: KEEP UP THE GOD WORK. I AM SURE WE WILL ALL BE HEALTHIER IN SOME WAY BEFORE YEARS END!! WHAT ACCIDENT?? DID YOU GET HURT AT WORK THIS YEAR? Hmmmm

ANNIE...REMEMBER TO PICK OUT A NICE SPOT FOR YOU WHILE YOU HAVE THE TITLE!! STAKE A CLAIM!!! HOPE YOU ENJOY THE DECORATING!!

LAURA...WISH I COULD GET ANOTHER PERSON BUT SHE IS PART OF THE LEVY DEPARTMENT  AND THAT IS WHERE THE MONEY IS SITTING:lol3: IT'S REALLY UP TO THEM WHETHER THEY GVE ME BACK THE REST OR NOT. THE MONEY WAS "FEES: THE BANK CHARGES FOR DOING THIS LEVY.. SO IT'S A MATTER OF "HEARTz" AND SO FAR I HAVEN'T FOUND ONE YET! CONGRATS ON GETTING THE CHECK!! GREAT NEWS! NOW SAVE IT!!! LOL HOPE YOU LIKED THE MOVIE. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FRIEND AND HOPE TOO THAT SHE WILL GET AND USE GOOD HELP:hug:

SHAD....I REMEMBER THE BOYS BEING DIFFERENT. FUNNY HOW THAT HAPPENS. BOTH ARE SUCH GOOD LADS AND LOVE THEIR MUM THOUGH. GLAD YOU HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE AND THE LUGGAGE ARRIVED!! WHEN DS1 IS DONE HE CAN COME HERE AND CLEAN OUT MY SPACE! GOOD NEWS THAT YOU HASD SOME WORK AND I CRACKED UP OVER YOUR MATE MICK. HE MUST HAVE THOUGHT FOR A MOMENT THAT YOU HAD GONE BONKERS!! THE RISOTTO SOUNDED GOOD AND SO DID NTHE PUMPKIN. RIGHT NOW I AM BUYING BUTTERNUT SQUASH ALREADY CUT UP AND USING SOME SPICES AND TOSSING IT IN THE MICROWAVE. NOT BAD. YOURS SOUNDED BETTER. :hun:

happy2bme 10-20-2010 07:47 AM

Hellos to all. Happy Hump Day - don't forget to put out the trash.

Don't know if you are still floating around in cyberspace but :celebrate: :bday2you: :celebrate: :hb: A big happy birthday to you Madcat. :carrot: Hope you have a happy one.

happy2bme 10-20-2010 08:05 AM

I had to use up some special potato pancakes I was given as a gift. Had them for supper last night with some syrup. This is a throwback to something we ate on meatless Fridays as a kid. It was good but OMG did it spike my bloodsugar something fierce. :nono: Glad it was a one time thing - that's how you learn. Most foods don't affect me that adversely - I was beginning to think my meter was off but I guess I just didn't get the right combo. :yikes:

Mel - I'm hoping you have at least 6 good weeks of riding outside before the cold winds blow in. Are you not shopping at TJ's anymore? You don't talk about Willie either - did something happen?

Shad - I'm glad you found some work to keep you busy. Geez ladies, don't you make coffee at home??? Our coffee at work is horrid - except when C makes some divine hazelnut from his personal collection. So a gallon of milk would barely fit in your refrigerator? Things must be quite different down under unless we Americans need big food storage for our compulsion with eating

I have to admit I am used to pumpkin as a dessert too. I think it is coming into its own as a savory in soups and such but we are used to it as a sweet. It's ok - I guess I am not that fond of the spices that go with it so I'm not a big fan though I do like the cakey pumpkin bars. But just 1. And I like Pumpkin Spice Coffee too

Well girls - I think we have a medic for our commune - the one and only Laura - :D Good, now we can check that off the list. I hope your neighbor can get some help. I think people poo poo the addictive personality thing but it's very real and makes for some serious struggles in life to deal with it.

Annie - I have seen that Whistle Stop mix at the store. Usually in the fall like around this time of year. They have a cobbler mix that looks fabulous as well as the coating for the tomatoes. Figures it's a billion calories. :( I hope you have a quiet night at CVS - guess tomorrow will be a marathon for you. Course it feels like every day is that. How is Dad doing - any better?

Ceejay - I am astounded watching Biggest Loser at how very very big these young people are. I guess it's a product of too much sitting at video games and super size fast food. But you are right, things need to get under control. I guess even if you teach nutrition in school, it's no fun to practice it. :dizzy:

Michelle - did you make it through your early day without conking out in a toilet stall? Bet you'll be as glad as DH to get your car back and on a more manageable routine.

Well once again spent too much time here. Gotta get going. Have a good Wednesday.

Happy Wednesday -

I am tired. I did not want to get out of bed today. I just hope I can stay awake for an all day training class today. I have PT and traction after work, but hopefully, I can fall asleep on the table (what I jokingly call the torture rack).

I'm hoping to walk after work today since I'll be getting home too late for Zumba Gold. I should have my car back next week because the correct transmission arrived yesterday!! It was in the driveway when DH and I got home!!! :confetti: He'll be doing the remainder of the prep work this week after work, and then putting it in on Saturday/Sunday. He's going to call a friend of his and hopefully he'll be able to come over and help.

Ceejay - I hope that your Mayor gets re-elected. Good for you for staying on plan, avoiding fast food and doing your exercise!!

Annie - Great job on fixing the network!! You're a regular server admin! No worries about me lifting heavy bags of leaves. I've decided to do a minimal amount of raking the leaves just to get them away from the fence...and then it's mulch time with the mower. I'm now hearing my PT's voice in my head asking me if this movement will squish the jelly donuts (disks) in my spine or leave them happy and full. Yes, he compares disks to jelly donuts and he said we do not want to squish them with overwork. Weird guy, huh? But the visual works. I'm also going to get up on a ladder and clear the leaves out of most of the gutters before the rain starts next week. I can't clear out the gutter over the driveway as I don't want to get leaves all over DH's new transmission and other parts...but I can get most of the house done for now until the rest of the leaves drop. I don't think climbing ladders will squish my donuts. :lol3: Congrats on being the head of the remodeling project!!

Laura - Good for you on the exercising!! Let me know how you like the movie. I like Katherine Heigl from when she was in Grey's Anatomy and also 27 dresses (or whatever number). Sorry to hear about your neighbor. I hope she gets the help she needs.

Happy - You're rocking the sugar reduction!! Well, except for the syrup on the potato pancakes. I can imagine how that would spike your blood sugar. Potatoes ALWAYS spike my blood sugar, even worse than ice cream. I don't make coffee at home. I just drink the work stuff (mixed with Sugar Free Fat Free cocoa).

Shad - How wonderful that DS1 is helping with the cleaning!!! Do you rent him out? Hope DS2's luggage arrives safely. I haven't increased the walking time much yet...but I'm trying. My hip was bothering me big time last night...so I played with the doggies rather than walked. DH and I do pumpkin as a dessert mostly: pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake. But our cafeteria does occasionally have pumpkin soup, which is WONDERFUL!!

Mel - If the bank lady is in charge of levies...can you escalate the issue to her boss? Surely, she's not the top person in charge at the whole bank. Go up the ladder until you find someone with a heart.

I've gotta get another cup of coffee and finish a few things before the class starts, so I'm off.

Have a great day, ladies!

Love you all,

Happy Wicked Wednesday, and I guess in my life it is UN-hump day. lol...trash is out!!

I have been craving cottage cheese lately and have eaten about 2 large cartons in the past 4 days. Weird cause I didn't think I would ever want it again after HAVING to eat is as one of my staples after bariatric surgery.

Chelle...you might have to have several more cups of coffee to stay awake today. Funny when I am this tired as you are now, when I finally get out of bed the first thing I think about is when do I get to sleep next? You be careful going up and down the ladder, you would be surprised what get moved and squashed doing things you don't normally do. You, my friend are a hard one to keep down, but I WILL bring the rolling pin after you.

Happy....the potato cakes might now have been so bad IF you hadn't of put the syrup on them. YIKES!! Watch that blood sugar, I WILL have to come after you with the rolling pin too!! Watching dad's BS is bad enough.

MELLIE...put the fan in front of the heater duct in the house and pretend it is balmy outside. lol. That's it, our commune will be in a year round warm climate, with in ground pool.

Shad...isn't it nice to know at least you have trained one DS how to do housework and it stuck? Maybe he could do the loo's today. lol Maybe I could just shut the closet door and nail it shut to be done with it.

Nurse Laura...waiting on the review of Life as we Know It. That is one I think I might want to see. I think the redecor project is just to keep us off track on the office closing. Who really knows. Could you take Hella for a walk too?

Hey Ceejay, hope your day is going well.

Back to the seminar...thank God it is in the hotel connected to our building. I am loving that part of it.

Later my chickie friends,

Love and hugs,

Good Morning Ladies.

Shad - Sorry ds2's luggage didn't make it. Hope the courier got it to him safe and sound. Mmm, the food sounds tasty. Hehe, giving Mick the pink doc just for the reaction! You devil.

Mel - I have a feeling the hearts get smaller the higher up the bank management chain you go, but it's still an option if this woman continues to hold you off on your attempts at getting that money back.

Happy - Hmm, haven't eaten potato pancakes that much, but I seem to recall applesauce being the accompaniment when I did. And maybe sour cream? I'm sure the syrup had much to do w/ the blood sugar spike!! Not sure what I might have said that put me in the commune's medic role, but that's perfect - I'd be distributing the drugs too, right? ;)

Michelle - Hope you've gotten enough coffee in you to make it through the day. :coffee: LOL re that jelly doughnut comparison your PT makes. Kinda makes me want a donut though... Be careful getting up on the ladder!!!

Annie - You know, the movie Life as We Know It was "just okay" for me, but there were some cute moments with the baby, and even teary moments. I guess I was just wishing Katherine Heigl would actually have a different role than her usual, but no. And I was disappointed that Josh Duhamel went through the movie looking like he needed a shower and haircut - but it was part of his character...

Hi Ceejay! :)

Nothing much to report - already mentioned the movie last night. Before that, I returned the mittens I'd ordered - one size did not fit all, even though it was just me I wanted them to fit! The saleswoman said they were getting those mittens at the store (I'd order through the catalog). So she thinks I'm going to come in and scrounge through them in hopes that there's a pair that'll fit me?? Uh, no, that just makes me doubt the quality of their manufacturing if the sizes on a one size fits all mitten could vary that much.

I have lunch w/ a friend today and nothing else, including no meetings! Tonight I'll do a dog walk and a BE workout. My left knee is still bugging me, so no squats or lunges!! :nono:

TTFN!

annie175 10-20-2010 02:53 PM

Laura...maybe I will wait till it comes out on dvd release and rent it at a redbox for a buck. Hey you get more exercise than I do just walking your dog.

I feel like a big fat mess right now. I just cannot get down back into the 150s, and feel like a cow at 165, my cute jeans don't fit and my belly sticks out. I just keep beating myself up over it, afraid I will gain even more weight back, but seem to only get a grip the healthy eating mode like 3 to 5 days in a row then it is a free for all. Someone come save me from myself. PLEASE. Dude WTF is wrong with my brain?

ceejay52 10-20-2010 05:29 PM

Just popping in to say hello.------2.5 hours until v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n, yipee.

Getting very excited about vacation time. However, I will not be leaving for Springfield, MO until Monday. My sister works Saturday and Sunday. I need some time to myself.

I gave in and stopped at MCD's last night for an Angus burger and fries. It weighed heavy on my stomach. Ugh
Completed only 15 minutes of cardio due to this. But I did walk in Walmart for nearly 10 minutes before I stopped at MCD's . Yes just pushed my buggie. Didn't stop to look until after the 10 minutes was up.

Time to post.

Shad 10-20-2010 06:50 PM

Ceejay - does that mean you went to Walmart and just pushed a trolley for 10 minutes?? Didn't put anything in it?? No shopping??? What will power, what fortitude. What sort of looks did you get when you put the trolley back and left emptyhanded?? Love it.
The 2.5 hours must be nearly up judging by the time of your post. Have a wonderful holiday.

Happy - Potato pancakes! Yum, although I am not sure of the syrup on top. What sort of syrup was it?
As for making the coffee at home - well it just so happens there is a BRU bar downstairs in the courtyard. Real stuff - although since the girls took it over it is not as good as when the young guy had it. The stuff supplied at work is pretty ordinary instant stuff. There are occasions when I bring my ground beans into work along with a one cup plunger and voila, coffee made by and with Joy. As you know, I like my coffee with kick.

Michelle - can understand why you don't want to get out of bed. Work and early hours can take it out of you I know. Good that the proper tranny has arrived and will be installed and working come the weekend.

Annie - hands and knees and in and out of the racks in the server room. Man, that brings back memories of when I was working for a trucking company. Head office put in computers and the truckies went ape. We just want to be truck drivers. So yours truly was the only one in the complex who knew anything much about computers and computing and could pronounce login. Got the system admin job just because of that. Anything that went wrong was my job. When it got fixed and the kudos and congrats were being given out, it wasn't me at the front of the queue!

Laura - I think it was the CPR class that did it - got you voted in as commune medic I mean. I enjoyed those classes. Those dummies we had to work on were hilarious. I remember one session - I had dummy H - H for Harry. The man next to me had G - George. In the middle of the 15 compressions, the man's mobile phone rang. The idiot answered it. I have no idea who was the bigger dummy of the two.
And yes the look on Micks face was priceless. I should sell that pink doco to the highest bidder and donate the money to the breast cancer foundation. Wonder if there are any places around with a strictly female population of maintainers.

Last nights dinner was the last of the pumpkin (this time roasted with morroccan spices) and jazzed up cous cous, with a napolitano sauce. Cous cous is something the boys don't like eating since it is pretty tasteless, however I improved it somewhat with chicken salt (which doesn't by the way contain chicken anything) citrus peel and juice, roasted red peppers, slivered almonds and toasted pumpkin seeds. I was going to put dried fruit in there as well, but it tasted pretty good without it. They ate it without a murmur so it must have been okay. DS2 has announced he does not want to see junk food for at least another five years since he lived on it in Perth. Well hallelujah. We'll see how long that lasts.
Barbeque on Sunday - so far I think there are about 10 turning up - still more to reply. Lets hope it doesn't rain. I'll think about a menu in the next couple of hours or so and start shopping tonight or tomorrow.

Meantime, I'd better go do what I am paid to do - little as it may be.
