Good Evening Wordlie Lady Chicks.........

What a grand day. A little warm, but I loved it. 88, sunny and with my baby girl and boy. We left at 9 am and I didn't get home till 8 pm. Shue wee a long day and the dogs are tired. So I am chillin with Hella. She acts like she was the one out in the sun walking all day. Crazy dog. I got a new purse, sweatshirt that says...it's gotta be 5:00 o'clock somewhere with a plam tree and rita glass. Also a hunk of horseradish cheese. YUM. I did excellent on eating. 5 catfish nuggets and a ear of corn, cup of coffee and two bottles of water. On the way home we stopped and I had a piece of grilled chicken on a bed of lettuce with rasberry vinegarette. Yes I ROCK!!. I am now 5 days OP. whew who. Oh also got a really sweet necklace and earrings. Spent a total of about 55 bucks. Not too bad. Even bought BB and BG sweatshirts. Nice ones by fruit of the loom. They were embroidered for 5 bucks a piece. What a deal. Also bought for an additional 20 bucks, BGs birthday present. A really really cute dress, ok I spent 75 bucks but have a BD present out of the way and it is something I know she will like cause she picked it out, even tho her BD is not till Nov. 5.

Happy....I would say it is high time you stop all this nonsense..you almost sound like me getting hurt and what not. Do run out into the yard and plan that dang money tree. Maybe even two. Prayers for you my sista. Hugs too!!

Mellie...glad to hear you are getting back to normal...whatever the H that is. lol

Chelle...I am shouting at you right now....DO NOT do anything till that back is feeling at least 99% better. I do not want you back in the sack again with the aches and pains. Do you hear me? No exercising til further notice.

Laura...yeah for a quiet day at work. Take while you can get it. It never lasts very long.

Had to take a minute to pull clothes out of the washer. I hang nearly everything for fear of shrinking in width and length....from the old days of being obese.....I suppose.

Anyway...

Dang Shad you are getting a lot of flooding...too bad it is keeping you away from that demanding job so much...lol. Hope DS get around safely. and the damn dams are full too, how scary. Hope it gets better soon. Our basement flooded several times when I was married, what a horrid mess.

OMG...Hella has gas and is passing some awful smells, must be, as she is smelling her own heiny and sniffing it, then snorting and wiping her nose on the carpet. LMAO

Ceejay...don't feel cheated on the training classed, just be glad you got anything at all out of it and it went toward your time required.

Hey Cincy...hope all is well with you chick.

I can't believe I have been 5 days OP. It just finally clicked, guess it is my turn. All the walking we did today took care of the exercising.

My size 6 long Levi's are fitting much better as this morning I was down 5 lbs from last Tuesday...even if it was water weight I feel better. Guess I had better stop typing and get a few things done before bed.

Sweet dreams everyone....Shaddie...sweet daydreams.

Loves and Hugs...

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful time with the kids yesterday Annie. You deserve a good day of smiles. How goes the job hunt?

Ceejay - how can they do that with such high deductibles? Geez

Laura - hopefully you got a little sun at lunch yesterday.

Michelle - I think your extra work fell off your desk and on to mine - either that or I'm being busy in sympathy for you  Hope the back is less tender.

Good morning Sunshine Mel. Hope you are feeling chipper today. Is it shopping day yet?

Sorry to be so short but I should have already showered by now. Gotta run - maybe not back until tonight. Have a good one chicks.

diyana 10-12-2010 11:01 AM

Happy Tuesday everyone -

DH and I are carpooling this week, which makes it a little challenging to run errands, etc. But we'll manage. He's supposed to get his replacement transmission this week and will install it this weekend.

Crazy busy day ahead. I've got 3 reports to get done by end of day tomorrow, and one is proving to be a particular challenge.

I went to PT after work yesterday, and my therapist wasn't pleased to hear that I mowed the lawn (even though it's a riding mower) and play frisbee with my dogs. I told him that I really wanted to Zumba, but my friends (you ladies) talked me out of it (read: told me they could come kick my butt if I did). He said I have wise and caring friends, but of course I already knew that.

I'm going out to lunch with a co-worker friend. Actually, she's driving me to the vet's office to pick up more medicine for Doppler, and I'm buying her lunch. I really appreciate her helping me out since I'm without a car today.

Mel - Thanks for the pepper and beef soup recipe! Sounds really yummy!! I hope Jen feels better soon.

Happy - I hope your knee is doing better today. I hate that insurance costs are going up, and they are blaming Obamacare. There should NOT be lifetime maximums. People should not be dropped due to pre-existing conditions or devastating disease. It was the same thing with Credit Card companies...just before the credit reforms went in, the companies decided it was okay to raise the interest rates to 30% - talk about a loan shark! It's the same dang thing as when they're is an incident involving oil...gasoline prices skyrocket. Companies will use any excuse to increase profits. :tantrum: DH and I pay A LOT for our insurance, and we do get our money's worth. Due to my back, asthma, BP, blood sugar, and cholesterol, and DH's knee and BP, we need good insurance. And I do need annual boob squeezes due to the history of cancer in my family. I keep wondering if an 80/20 plan would be better for us than an HMO...but DH and I don't think it would. Luckily, we are so far away from being able to retire (financially) that we'll probably kick the bucket long before then and won't have to worry about the cost of retirement insurance. As for my leg numbness, I'm getting it just sitting, standing or whatever. So I was grateful to be able to get a PT appt yesterday, and they increased my traction. It seems to have helped...so far...and I have another traction appt yesterday. If my extra work fell onto your desk, why do I still have it here? :dunno:

Shad - That's awful about all that flooding!!! Over 12" of rain in 24 hours?! That's insane! Hope you and your loved ones are staying warm and dry. Did DS1 get to your house okay? 1600 miles? Wow!! Long drives can wear a person out. Good thing he is young. Please take care of your back and find a way to work at home that doesn't hurt. Take it from me...it's worth taking a little extra time to make your workspace more ergonomic. I hope your numbness has gone away.

Laura - How fun to watch old home movies from when you first moved into your house.

Ceejay - That's insane that you have separate deductibles per doctor!! I thought separate deductibles per person were bad enough.

Annie - Glad you had such a great time with your son and daughter. Great job on staying OP!! And on the 5 lbs lost!! You DO rock, sista! :dancer: If I don't exercise 'till my back is 99% better...I might as well just pack it in. I'll be smart about it, sista. No worries.

Better get back to it.

Love you all lots,

Laura705 10-12-2010 12:48 PM

Hi everyone.

Shad - I hope the rain comes to an end quickly - getting as much rain in a day or two that you would normally get in a season - wow. That's a long drive for ds1 - hope he has a safe trip.

Ceejay - I agree that even if you're getting all the hours you need for your licensing requirement, if you're getting shortchanged on the actual educational content in these classes, it's not worth saving a few hours of time. Make sure you fill out the evaluation they give at the end of the class!!

Annie - I must have missed something or misunderstood your plans, but it sounds like you had a great time with your kids! Congrats on being OP and that your efforts are paying off. I hang dry most of my clothing too. Really don't need stuff shrinking up on me! Yeh, Coal has his share of stinky moments. And it's funny because he does look at his rear end like "what's that all about?" LOL. We keep matches handy to dissipate the smell.

Mel - Sounds like a busy time for you. Jeez, you're getting more rain!?!? Glad the building is on a hill, lol. I'm glad the pc problem was just the low batteries and not something else - you sure don't need a virus! I don't have a shared pc at work, but that doesn't mean they're not behind the scenes scanning my activity!! :yikes: Actually, at this point I don't think they do anything unless your boss feels it's necessary.

Happy - Hi!!

Michelle - Glad your PT person is giving it to you - a bit more restraint now could be helping you back to your normal routine, and maybe sooner than if you push it!! (Am I becoming annoying yet? :D) I went to a session at my conference about the impact of the healthcare reforms on businesses and it was frustrating because it was basically a lot of uncertainty. But from my perspective, it's just going to be more costly and for sure it's going to get pushed down to the insured. Will anyone be able to retire??? Sigh.

Hi Cincy!!

Not much to report. We took doggy for a walk last night. Dinner was leftover pork & mashed potatoes and I had corn. Lotta carbs yesterday, not that I track it like that. No BE workout. No grocery shopping. Watched the end of Wall Street - that's the only part I really remembered, lol.

I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch, but she postponed it to next week, so I'm on my own today. I didn't bring my gym gear because of the plans... Nice enough day, so I'll get outside. I also plan to phone the mortgage co about the escrow. Afraid I'll fly off the handle. Bf advised just trying to learn the location of an office and a contact with whom I can talk face to face. Tonight we're seeing "The Social Network" about the invention of fb.

That's it for now!

annie175 10-12-2010 03:46 PM

AFternoon...Wow this morning was major crazy. It has slowed some but sure to get worse before it is over.

Slipped up just a little with a very few m&ms and some pretzels, but got it back under control now. Went to the doc for a check up and BP was 168/98, not sure what that is about. She wants me to keep track of it for the remainder of the week then call her on Friday for plan of action. My pressure usually runs 117/75. Must be the stress of it all and not sleeping well last night. Who really knows. I think this whole weightloss can be boiled down to journaling, counting calories which would also involve portion sizes...exercising too, but have never liked it and never do it. I do try to walk more than the norm, however.

Got to get this posted, sorry no personals at this time. It has gone nuts once again.

Love and hugs,

ceejay52 10-12-2010 04:40 PM

Annie
Stress can play a major role in the bp. I'd like to come off mine but I'm not sure if that will happen. I'm working on it. Glad you had a good time over the week end. To cute about Hella.

Laura
Roast mashed potatoes and green beans sound yummy.

Shad
We sure do need some of the rain you are getting. Stay safe and hope the ds makes it home.

Happy, Mel and Michelle
Hope the day has brought good things.

My week end was good. Went to Paragould on Saturday morning to attend the uncles get together at noon. We had some good food and fellowship.
My aunt and I went shopping in the afteroon and I bought a sweater.

I was doing good this morning because I was busy. But this afternoon has been dragging by. Almost fell asleep after lunch. Now I'm monitoring for some thunderstorms. We surely do need the rain.

Shad 10-12-2010 07:48 PM

Morning all,

DS1 arrived safely last night around 11pm. So much for my early night. However I did get some more of Micks work done and I did do some more on my tapestry (which I unearthed from one of the boxes last week). He was ringing me every hour or so for the last four hours of his trip to let me know he was safe and ask where the worst spot for kangaroos was (everywhere son and often in the middle of the road and watch out for the odd emu or two) DS1 has a brand new car - you might have gathered that.

Anyway, he is here and he is safe and he will be doing his thing today and getting over the drive. Who knows, I may even have dinner cooked for me when I get home. Vegetarian of course.

I walked the riverbank to work this morning and there is a lot of debris in the river coming from upstream. Some of the ferries are not running because of the debris. Eventually I daresay it will all clear up and go out to sea. At least there doesn't seem to be any dead cows or sheep in there.

Ceejay - you are welcome to this rain. We are well and truly OVER it. It has cleared somewhat today so maybe we will be able to dry out a little. Your weekend sounded nice

Annie - wow on the BP, but you have been under a bit of stress lately. The job situation will not help either. Glad to hear you had a great day with the kids - lol with the dog and the smells. And isn't it nice to be able to say you had a great OP day. 5lbs down is a great effort, water weight or not.

Laura - good luck with the local office and a contact. Many of them will not give out physical addresses anymore. Too many weirdos going in with shotguns for a chat.

Michelle - I don't normally have back problems, but seem to be having twinges just lately. Last time I had a sore back was sometime about when the kids were small, and I remember sciatic problems when I was pregnant. You may find walking to be the best and safest exercise for you at this time. A PT person told me some time back that walking is really the best exercise for most people, especially those carrying injuries or a lot of weight. It is, apparently the all round exercise. You walk at a speed which allows you to still carry on a conversation, but really you don't want to! If that makes sense. As you get fitter, you go faster.

Mel - is that where our rain went to??? Well geez, I don't want it back thanks all the same. Glad you got some batteries for the keyboard. Don't want you typing in code do we?? The numb feeling is what happens when the headache goes away, but you are not back to normal and probably still under the influence of the tablets. I'm sure I don't function too well with that either.

I'd better go see if I can find out some information for this job. We have finally had some sort of break through and the business is going to walk me through the processes and procedures tomorrow. Hallelujah. I might be able to do some work and deliver some script for UAT training next month. Good gosh - achievement?? No cannot be. :lol3:

happy2bme 10-13-2010 08:05 AM

Good morning to you,

Well for all those people who are ready to bash the president (yet again just because) over Obamacare running up your insurance premium - the benefits person stated yesterday that they estimate Obamacare changes are adding 1.2 percent more to the cost of health care coverage. only 1.2 percent. Yet they jacked my rate up 40 percent!!!! And we pay rates on a 3 tier system based on salary. Isn't it interesting that the 2 lowest tiers have the largest percentage increase in their payment from this year to next year? I guess the more highly compensated people have less health issues  I asked why I am paying twice the rate to add one more person while someone with a family of 6 pays the same rate as adding just a spouse. They were honest and said so we can help offset the cost of paying for all these families. ;) No, not really - gave a :censored: answer. But now people can add their kids up to age 26 to their plans. Even if the kids are MARRIED. So now I can support the current trend of finding a boyfriend, getting pregnant, and living together. :dunno: I have no problems with people living together but I am old fashioned enough to feel that if you are going to bring kids into the mix, then you need to rethink things. but enough about that.

Shad - glad DS1 arrived amongst the floating obstacles. Hope you enjoy your visit. Didn't realize you liked tapestry. I see you more of a gardener than a crafter.

Ceejay - did you suck all the rain up by you? We only got a passing sprinkle here.

Annie - hope things calm down for you. Watch that blood pressure girl. Maybe they caught you at the wrong time. Work has been stressful lately for you.

Laura - basically the heathcare reforms cover 3 main items - have to cover children until age 26, eliminate co-payments and they had to eliminate the lifetime maximum cut off. I feel like Michelle - there should not be a lifetime cut off. Basically you are punished if you get cancer or something. Or they said that having a premature baby is $500,000 right there. I do agree with health insurance carriers that they should be incentives in rate deductions or contributions to health care accounts for those who enroll in and adopt healthy life style to take charge of their health. I will bet that 60 percent or more of people will not retire before age 75 if at all. Either because they have saved nothing or are supporting their grown children. I see that alot around my friends and acquaintances. And I have a small percentage of friends who have special needs children who also will never be able to retire and that is a sad thing because there is always the worry of who will take care of them later in life. My heart goes out to them.

How did you like the movie Laura - they said it was supposed to be interesting.

Michelle - take your work back - my desk is flooded  Hope you are feeling better girl. That numb leg has to be troublesome. Get up and walk for a few minutes every hour. I know it's all too easy to be stuck at the desk.

Mel - I hope the new batteries did the trick. Crazy computers! Send some of the rain our way and I'll send you some heat. Glad to hear Jen is doing better.

Well once again I have sat here too long. Better get rolling. Later chicks.

annie175 10-13-2010 08:43 AM

Good Morning Chicklets..........

CVS was not very exciting last night and on the way to work this morning I realized when I shut photo down last night I forgot to set the timer. I am sure the morning crew is cursing me now. It will take the photo an hour or more to get warmed up and running. Oh well...heck...they should be glad I even showed up. lol

DD called me yesterday and said she quit her job. The owner who also does hair there is a real pervert, moody, and drinks alcohol during business hours. She couldn't take much more of it after he jumped her sh*t about something uncalled for, so she quit. Can't say that I blame her as I could barely go in there to get my hair done as I didn't want to see that arse. The last time I was in there he went on about my clothes, hair and jewelry and had to rub his hand on my arm every time he talked to me. I about puked.

Shaddie...so glad the DS made it home safely. Roo's and Emu's in the road, just struck me funny but I guess if you hit one with your car, it wouldn't be quite so funny. Our roadkill is usually squirrils, rabbits, cats, possum, deer.

Ceejay....I hear ya on the BP. My entire family (mom, dad, 3 brothers and all grandparents) has/had high BP and Diabetes. Luckily, I do not have them, well maybe I do have high BP at the moment.

Hello to everyone.

Love and hugs,

annie175 10-13-2010 08:47 AM

Happy...you sneaker inner...I feel the same way about you on the Obamacare BS. 9 out 10 people that come through CVS b*tch about Obama and is C R A P~ Hope your day goes well, can't afford to be stick.

annie175 10-13-2010 08:51 AM

I mean sick not stick. lol well that too, I suppose.

ceejay52 10-13-2010 09:35 AM

Morning every one
Not much to report.

Happy
We didn't see a drop of rain. It rained around us. I'm not looking forward to he new Obama health care. This is one of my reason for getting this excess wight off. I've heard you will have to weigh a certain amount before you can even be insured. How true this is I don't know.

Mel
Enjoy the peace and quiet.

Annie
I don't blame your daughter for quitting. Has she thought of starting her own salon.

diyana 10-13-2010 02:15 PM

Hi everyone -

Crazy busy day at work...and I have lots to get done before I leave since I'll be at an off-site training class all day tomorrow.

Annie - So sorry to hear about your DD's working environment. She's better off finding somewhere new.

Ceejay - I haven't heard anything about weight restrictions for health care. I wonder if that's another of the "half-truths" that are going around that are really nothing more than unsubstantiated BS. Frankly, I'd like to have government sponsored healthcare...where everyone is covered. Heck, the politicians get great government sponsored insurance...shouldn't the people they represent (and who pay their salaries) be offered the same benefit?

Laura - How was "The Social Network"? Since I enjoy FB so much, that's a movie I'd be interested in seeing.

Shad - I'm so glad DS got there safely. My only problem with walking is that I can only walk for about 15 minutes or so before my back starts really hurting.

Happy - Very interesting to learn that the Obamacare premium increase was just 1.2%...yet your entire premium went up 40%!!! That's insane! How can so many people in the country blame the Obama plan for the premium increase when it's just a miniscule fraction of the overall increase?! :dunno: Both our desks are flooded now, but at least not as flooded as the roads down under. :yikes:

Mel - Glad you got to enjoy some sunshine with Jen. I don't even want to think about the clocks changing. I like how it's still light out until 6:30 or 7 pm.

I'd better get back to work. I'll try and check in tomorrow morning before I leave for class.

Love and hugs,

annie175 10-13-2010 03:55 PM

Mellie...I would love to hibernate for a few days and just get all the sleep out I could. Seems like I never have enough time to sleep as much as I want. My mind won't let me. If I try to lay around on a Sunday or something, crap in my house keeps calling me to get things done.

Hey Ceejay...

Chelle...off to training, seems like we are all doing some kind of training these past few weeks.

Not much going on here just trying to get presentations ready for our seminar next Thursday and also get the flyers/brochures ordered. Everyone is in freak out mode the past two days, they all give me a headache, neck is stiff and I popped two fingernails off opening a file drawer. Well that made me yell ouchie....lol. Guess I will go tonight and get my nails done, was going to wait till Friday, but not now.

Eating has not been very good today...several slip ups, well I guess 5 days OP was pretty good for me. But I am back on it now, so at LEAST it wasn't an entire day and night of garbage eating. Oh speaking of garbage, Happy Hump Day. I am a bit off since I took Monday as a vacay day.

Have a great evening all ya'll..

Did we lose Cincy again??

Love and Hugs....

diyana 10-13-2010 05:26 PM

Good afternoon ladies (or good morning, Shad??),

Just got back from traction at PT, which went well. The PT asked me if I'd be interested in exploring getting a home traction device so that I can traction myself more than just twice a week. I joked that he's just getting sick of seeing me. I'm hoping to not need regular traction on a long-term basis, but it is something I'll think about.

I also got permission to try a Zumba Gold class (I'll probably do that next week - or sooner if I can find one that fits my schedule this week). And I got permission to do yoga and Pilates on the Wii Fit, and a few other Wii Fit activities. He doesn't want me to bike just yet. And he wants me to walk more...even if I have to break it up into 15 minute stints. I walked to PT and back today (about 12 minutes each way) and did okay. He'd prefer that I not bounce around on the lawn mower, as he said the purpose of traction is to spread the vertebrae apart, and the bouncing just pushes them back together. :(

So now I've got my instructions. Hopefully one day, I'll be able to work up to earning the exercise crown back.

Love y'all,

ceejay52 10-14-2010 07:44 AM

Good morning

Had a good nights sleep and woke at my usual time. Don't have anything planned for today

Michelle
Walking is good exercise but I understand how it would make your back hurt. It makes my hips hurt especially now that the joints are inflammed. Hope all this talk about weight related issues is just rumors. I've not looked into the Obama health care plan. My aunt seems to think it's a farse, but if she doesn't agree with it every thing is a farse. She's really pessimestic. She wants everything catered to her expectations.

Mel
I need to start keeping a food journal again. Maybe this would break that binge cycle i've returned to.

Annie
Sounds like you are keeping busy at work. ouch on the nails.

Yesterday at work one of my bosses could not find me and came down to the chemical room. He said he knew for a fact that our fluoride set up was in violation. We needed one that had to be refilled every day. And he was looking around for a place to put a chlorine drip machine, instead of using the chlorine gas. The chlorine set up would be much safer to use. It's bad enough to refill that 'stinking' fluoride weekly and yes I use a mask. He's already brought in a new piece of lab equipment which I detest. But he told me that I should have my 24 hours of continuing education hours to renew my license. I don't have to go to the district meeting today. YEAH.

Also went over to the light office to get my flu shot. To my suprise I had a temperature of 99.4. I'm wondering if this is due to the inflammation of my joints. (hip) The nurses didn't seem to be concerned about it.

I'm going to plan out some menu's for this week end and then for next week. I haven't been eating veggies at all. Then go to super walmart in Blytheville to get groceries and stop by Verizon. The new internet card they gave me didn't install on my computer. I need to ask some questions and see if they will exchange it.

Just a quick post for me as I'm waiting for the shared ride taxi to take me to my training class. I think it's ridiculous that they have to pick me up an hour early to take me 10-15 minutes away...but oh well. If I didn't have my back issues, I'd walk or bike ride there.

Ceejay - Enjoy your day off.

Shad - I hope you're enjoying time with DS1.

A big  and  to everyone!

Love and hugs,

diyana 10-14-2010 08:03 AM

Mel - You snuck in too. Stay warm, girlfriend.

happy2bme 10-14-2010 08:17 AM

Good morning ladies,

Here's the things that companies have to put into place - well insurance companies actually in regards to federally mandated changes:

1) parents can keep their children as dependents on their policy regardless of their children's income, marital status, health or even if they are eligible for health care on their own - for example through their own employer. So that means if your kid invented Facebook - is a billionaire, is married and has 5 kids a wife and a mistress, you can still claim him on your insurance as a dependent until their 26th birthday.

2) they eliminated co-pays - this is debateable. It seems like they eliminated co-pays for preventative care only - ie. annual physical check ups - other people think they eliminated co-pays completely.

3) they eliminated the lifetime maximum benefit pay out. So they in effect can't refuse to insure you anymore if you have / had a catastrohic costly illness - although as the woman pointed out - it's not just cancer - a premie baby can also be a million dollar payout. I also heard but cannot verify that they can't refuse to insure you because of pre-existing conditions.

Now, given that - insurance companies are looking to save money any way possible - just like other businesses. I don't think Ceejay they can refuse to insure you because you are overweight but they are looking to give people incentives to live a healthy life style and take charge of their health which in turn costs them less to cover you. So they might offer you a $50 check in your health care savings account if you enroll in a smoking cessation program or join a gym, etc.

DH has been talking to me for the last 15 minutes which cut into my post time so now I have to leave.

Something happened to plug up the bath drains and I can't shower this morning. It's a bath in the sink for me, better get on with it. Hopefully the plumber will show up today or I'll be showering in the yard tomorrow and we aren't getting enough sun to warm the water in the hose!

See yah later.

Laura705 10-14-2010 12:07 PM

Hello everyone. I'm back at work after taking a mental health day yesterday. Not sure it worked...

Not sure when/if I'll be back today. I'm still catching up from yesterday, and then there's meetings that take up most of the afternoon.

Have a good day everyone!

Shad 10-14-2010 06:32 PM

Morning all,
Went to an incredibly boring meeting yesterday and so didn't get to post. I just took to my heels and came home. I went to get my hair cut last night and DS1 and I went out to dinner. I had a very nice chicken and mushroom risotto (more sund dried tomato than chicken and mushroom but still....) and he had a pumpkin and sage penne, which he said was yum.

I'm so glad it is Friday. I might even get to sleep in tomorrow - but I bet the eyes will pop open come 5.00am and that will be that. But at least it isn't raining - yet. We've actually had a couple of dry days.

After the meeting yesterday, I have a fair amount of work to do. So I'd better start getting on with it. Personals will come later if I can get my computer away from the DS1 at home.

MELODY525 10-15-2010 07:27 AM

HIEGH H O
HEIGH H O
IT'S OFF TO WORK I GO....AS SHAD WOULD SAY.
SEE YOU GALS EITHER LATER OR TOMORROW
HAVE A LOT TO DO BEFORE I CAN Go DOWNSTAIRS
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND LET'S ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND  HUGS TO ALL
MANANA CHICKLETTES:scooter:

annie175 10-15-2010 08:26 AM

Truly Thank God It is Friday!!!!!

I spent 6 hours yesterday putting together a quote for insurance on a company was nearly finished and corporate called, oh by the way, we are not going ahead with the quote. Needless to say I used every brain cell on that yesterday and last night I was not with the program at CVS. Dang it. I need sleep. Working both S & S at CVS this weekend, no rest for the weary. OK whoa is me, I I I, get over myself....got it.

Shad...we both had useless days yesterday. Yours in a meeting and mine working on a quote. How about a bottle of wine to share, peace and quiet, and a good book. We can occassionally look over the top at the book and smile. lol

MELLIE....Hi HOOOOOO, my big fat arse. JUST SAY NO!!!

Laura...I think maybe we all need a mental health month, not just a day. We need to gather in our commune lounge for wine and good times.

Chelle...how are you feeling in the back and leg. How's our Dop doing? Enjoying life much better.

Ceejay...Humana offers 20 bucks off our insurace premium a month if we sign a statement that we do not smoke. Easy for me as I have never smoked in my life.

Happy...I will get back to you on your 3 points about insurance.

Hey Cincy...where are you??? Give up on us?

Going directly after work to meet with some friends for a drink but should be home by 7:30 or so, then going to bed. Guess I will have to clean house and do laundry tomorrow night when I get off of work.

Best get this day started...got lots to do after yesterday's fiasco.

Loves and Hugs

Laura705 10-15-2010 11:49 AM

Happy Friday all.

Shad – Your meals out sounded yummy! Hope you got to sleep in Friday morning, but I sure understand how the body’s clock won’t let us do that. Lately I’ve been waking up before the alarm – up to an hour before it – but I still stay in bed trying to eek out some more rest. And I just know my alarm's snooze button is going to wear out before the rest of the clock-radio.

Mel – Have a good day - DON’T WORK TOO HARD - and a great weekend.

Annie – I hate the hurry up, rush-rush, this is important – and then it’s either not needed at all, or it’s okay, they don’t actually need that today. Sorry you have to work both S & S at CVS. I can tell you really need some down time – your entry mentioned wine twice and then a drink after that, LOL. I could definitely do with a mental health month!! Cool you get $20 off your insurance for being a non-smoker.

Happy – Hope the drains have been cleared and you’re not bathing in the sink today.

Michelle – How was the training class? Now see, I was asking you if using one of those inversion thingies at home would help you, and then the PT person suggests you doing the home traction. Do you think you’ll buy the traction contraption for yourself? Hope DH gets the transmission installed this weekend and you get your wheels back.

Ceejay – Hope you had a nice day off. The chlorine drip machine definitely sounds better than you having to manually add it – that’s nasty stuff! Have you got your menus planned?

Nothing much to report. Thankfully I’m not working on anything urgent this week - yesterday was quite unproductive. A presentation followed by our annual fundraiser kickoff event took up the bulk of the afternoon. A teenager who received a wish from the charity we fundraise for came and spoke at the kickoff. He was older than most of the kids that get wishes, but his speech was very heartfelt and touching. Sometimes you forget about the real benefit of the fundraiser, so that brought it back…which I’m sure was the intention, lol.

Didn’t do much of anything last night except take doggy for a walk, eat dinner, and watch tv. The boss left the office early yesterday - not feeling well - and is out sick today. My gym gear is still sitting here. I’m not up for a workout, but I guess I’ll drag myself to the fc and get it over with. Oh, that reminds me, I need to charge my iPod before I go. Nothing planned for tonight.

Tomorrow is my annual mammo squash, then a hair appt, and in the evening is a fundraiser being hosted by bf’s niece. Yesterday, bf’s friend phoned to confirm we’d be at the annual bonfire (formerly hayride/bonfire). The only problem is that he never phoned bf to confirm that he’d actually booked the place. So now we have a conflict. I’m honestly not conflicted – I’m glad to not have to go there. Last year this place didn’t even have adequate firewood, and what they had wasn’t seasoned or chopped to useable size. And it’s a really far drive. Bf mentioned going there after the fundraiser, and I told him not to count me in. It’s been a nice tradition for many years, but I sure wish we could find a better place to have it!

Okay, better get back to work. Have a good weekend everyone!

PS - Did I say I liked the movie Social Network? I did. Interesting story, and the central character was interesting. But I have to say I really liked the actor Armie Hammer (yes, he's a descendent of tycoon Armand Hammer), quite the hottie, and he played twins - even better!

diyana 10-15-2010 12:11 PM

Hi everyone -

quick post for now as I'm super busy with work. The training class went well....lots of info to take in, but the instructor was AWESOME. She was knowledgeable and her sense of humor and anecdotes made a dry subject more interesting.

We didn't get the new transmission yet...so DH and I will be carpooling next week. He'll be doing other maintenance on both vehicles this weekend, and I might do some stuff in the yard...but mostly playing with the dogs. We're hoping to try and go for a short hike this weekend (if my back will tolerate it).

Gotta go for now.

Love and hugs,

annie175 10-15-2010 01:26 PM

You know what sounds good...a cup of hot apple cider!!! Just sayin'

Pour me a hot cup too - it's FREEZING in the office here. I am about to go stand in the parking lot and get a little sun to warm me up!

happy2bme 10-15-2010 01:57 PM

Hi all,

Tried to get on this morning but kept getting interupted and finally had to delete my mostly unfinished post and move on.

DH called the Roto Rooter guys yesterday. They had a hard time getting the snakey thing past the T thing in the pipes - at one point DH though he was going to have to go on the first floor bath and drill a hole in the pipe. They fiddled with it and were able after some ingenuity to get to the clog and whooosh - thar she blows! All fixed for $200. Thank goodness, we could not afford an expensive problem like a tree root breaking the pipe. DH cleaned both baths afterwards. With bleach like I asked although he didn't think he needed to use it. :D

This has been an awful week - emotionally I am at wits end. I am where I was earlier this year. Then I had the lung scare and came to a peacefulness that I would not let things bother me. And I lost that after vacation. So I need to work on it. DH and I have a retirement plan that might actually work and can happen before I'm 70 :crossed: I just need to see it through. I decided to get a flu shot and my arm hurts. Oh poor me  Ok, done complaining...

Michelle - I'm sorry to hear they are dragging their nuts and bolts on the transmission issues. I hope you can get out to take a gentle walk in the woods. Does the mold not bother you this time of year with all the leaves deteriorating?

Laura - that's too funny (because it's SOOOO true) about the snooze button wearing out on the alarm clock. The clock is on DH's side of the bed so I only get 1 wake up call before he rolls over and goes back to sleep for another hour. Now how fair is that? That's nice about the teenager speaking - reminds you of what you are working for - and that there are some people in a bad way who maintain a good outlook. And it feels good to give a little to help someone else. I will have to keep an eye out for Social Network when it comes to video. DH doesn't like to go to the movies anymore although we did go to see Avatar. A hayride / bonfire sounds like fun. Too bad you will miss it.

Arrggh Annie - don't you just HATE it when you are busy, take alot of time to do something and then it's not needed  And nothing you can do but smile on the outside, pinch their heads on the inside  It sounds like your busy life is getting to you. Do you at least get a more solid sleep when you get less or are you still waking up in the wee hours and can't get back to sleep? Hopefully some fun with friends tonight and 1 margarita will help you get some rest.

Shad - are you getting to spend any time with DS1 or is he just bunking with you and catching up with friends? Did you sleep in? I saw you on FB this morning which was your evening.

Mel - hope you got your work done quickly and can come up and :beach: in the peace and quiet of your own place. I think it's about time to start tormenting Shad about holiday stuff

Gotta run to a meeting. Hi Ceejay

annie175 10-15-2010 02:57 PM

Happy....change of plans, not meeting friends and no margarita. Instead I am going to take my dad to dinner, since I am working so much this weekend, I won't feel much like doing anything but going home and collapsing. He wants to go to the new Texas Roadhouse that opened in September by his house. The old one, on the same location, burned down over the winter and they rebuilt a brand new one. He used to love that place, hopefully he will get some enjoyment out of it again. Actually I am kinda of looking forward to dinner with dad rather than meeting friends with a drink. I think I have crossed the "old fogie" line.

Have a super good weekend, depending if I have enough energy will determine my weekend posting.

Much love and Many Hugs....the tired worn out blonde!!

annie175 10-15-2010 02:58 PM

I think I am beyond Geritol! lol

Laura705 10-15-2010 04:04 PM

Michelle - The weather guy said this is the weekend to do outdoor stuff, so enjoy your time outside this weekend.

Annie - Bf's mom left the cider here last Saturday, so I might have a hot spiced cider tonight. Enjoy dinner with your dad - hope he enjoys the new TX Roadhouse. You're not an old fogie!!

Happy - Glad the drains are free-flowing once again. Sorry your week's been so awful. Did you warm up yet? I'm drinking a hot choc right now - hoping it will tame my chocolate craving. Eighty calories is better than what's in a candy bar or brownie.

I forgot to mention that I was successful in getting the property tax escrow closed out by the mortgage company. :) Since the 2nd installment tax bills aren't coming out until late November, they agreed to cut a check. But it's not over until the check's in our hands...

Have a good weekend all.

ceejay52 10-15-2010 10:00 PM

I've cleaned out 2.5 closets today. I'm tired. Have three garbage bags full of clothes to give away. My neighbor wants them. I'd been holding onto them thinking one day I would get down to them. Also brought out the fall and winter clothes to see if I could still wear those. I feel like my closet can breathe.

Annie
Dinner with dad sound like a good idea.

Michelle
Hope you enjoy you day. Stay off the lawn mower. The dogs will love you more if you play with them.

Happy
Glad they got the drain unclogged. I've been wishing for a "drain snake"
but decided that I'll call the land lord next week. My kitchen sink drains but it is slow. I've used 2 jug's of Draino. I've honestly been thinking about taking the J pipe off myself.
I'm glad you have worked out a retirement plan. My newest 401k is begining to grow.

laura
I think I'd like to see the movie about the inventor of FB and the one on Secretariat.

Hello to Shad and Mel.

It's time to ride the bike. more later.

Shad 10-16-2010 02:59 AM

Better chuck something in here before I forget about the rest of the day and get on with something else.
The sun came out this morning along with the wind and it has been a great day. The laundry all got dried within minutes. I hope the neighbour will iron them before returning them
L came to do the yard today. He managed to mow the lawn and cut the hedge and get ride of a few of the weeds. I've been out and pruned the roses and gerberas and DS1 has been to squash, done some washing and generally just been good to be around. He's an easy kid most of the time.

DS2 has decided not to come home until Tuesday now. At least it will be a daylight flight and DS1 can go pick him up while I work. Maybe they can detour and pick me up as well after work. Now there is a suggestion I might make. It'll save me a train ride.

Ceejay - seems like we are all clearing wardrobes this year. Mine is looking quite skinny now. Pity I am not. Good going on the bike. You may get the exercise crown this week.

Happy - Glad the Roto Rooter guys came and fixed it all for you. I saw a program on tv called Undercover Boss and in one case the boss was from Roto Rooter. The bosses go undercover to see what is happening in their business because when they go to visit the sites, everything is very good sir, and tugs forelock. They need to see what is happening when the boss is not there. Some of them get quite a rude shock. It's not a bad program actually.
I do see a fair amount of DS1 and yes he is catching up with friends while I work but mostly he is home at night. Goes bike riding during the day or plays squash and entertains himself.

Annie - you must be very weary. Between the two jobs, you are constantly on the go. Hope the benefits are worth the pain. I bought a new bottle of wine to share with you today after the dentist - it's called 'Flying Kiwi' and it is a sauv blanc from Marlborough in NZ. It's a cheap wine and some of the proceeds of the sales go to the Save the Kiwi fund. So it's a good cause. If you see it in the stores have a go at it.

Michelle - hope you did manage to have a wander through the bushes with DH. And when I was talking about taking a walk, I only meant a short one. The 'medical pundits' here are promoting the benefits of walking and tell us that we should do it for 60 minutes a day - but it doesn't have to be all at once and you should work up to it and then increase the speed.

Laura - hope the mammo went okay. Got a letter back about mine last week. Seems I am clear for the next two years. Now only have to get the skin done next month and I am done with my WOF year.

Mel - back to work again hey? Hope it goes okay for you and don't sweat it too much. One thing about work is that it is very patient. It will wait for a long time for you to get around to it.

Thursday night I was sitting on the couch and thought I had something stuck on a tooth, so I put my nail on the area and pulled it off. Unfortunately it was the tooth that was moving and not food on it. So I have had to go to the dentist this morning to have it looked at. I have 6 choices here. All of them suck
One is to do nothing - just leave it alone. It doesn't hurt (yet)
Two is to get it filled temporarily and then leave it alone - which is what I did until I make up my mind about what to do ($140.00)
Three is to have both this tooth and the one in front (which went bad and broke some years back and I went to get a root canal done on it but they couldn't get into the canal due to my having a twisted canal) both taken out and leave a gap there (Around $500)
Four is to have the two teeth removed and a bridge made. This depends on the state of the two teeth to which the bridge would be attached ($5K to $7K)
Five is to have posts and crowns in place ($5K to 7K again)
Six is to have implants (approx $10K for 2). The one saving grace here is that nothing would ever go wrong with them again, which is not guaranteed with crowns or bridges.
So I have a decision to make. At least with the implants I can get them done one at a time. Why is it that most prosthetics have come down in price but anything to do with teeth just goes up and up and up.

Anyway, I will stop whinging now. I'm going to get the laundry in and then get into the wine. Annie - get your book, the Flying Kiwi will be on the coffee table in 10
