The Wooden Bowl I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, A year from now.
A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and Failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. 'We must do something about father,' said the son. 'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.' So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence. One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded, 'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up. ' The four-year-old smiled and went back to work. The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, Neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles six things: A rainy day, children, animals, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..' I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back sometimes. I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, Your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. I've learned that you should pass this on to everyone you care about .I just did. FRIENDSHIP CANDLE NOTICE AT THE END, THE DATE THE CANDLE WAS STARTED. GONNA GIVE YOU GOOSE BUMPS. I am not going to be the one who lets it die. I found it believable -- Angels have walked beside me all my life--and they still do ********************* This is to all of you who Mean something to me, I pray for your happiness. The Candle Of Love, Hope & Friendship This candle was lit on the 15th of September, 1998 Someone who loves you has helped Keep it alive by sending it to you. Don't let The Candle of Love, Hope and Friendship die Pass It On To All Of Your Friends And Everyone You Love! May God richly bless you! |
Good Mornin, good mornin...singing that one....smiles...
Woke with a bit of a headache. But mostly gone now. Baby boy came home last night, we stopped by CVS on the way to DD so I could show him off. THey wanted to meet him cause they feel they know him from all my talking about him... DD stops in from time to time to see me so they already know her. lol. I do work at CVS tonight, should be fun as the truck comes in with yet MORE holiday CRAP. Forgot my deodarant this morning. Thank God for two things, I rarely sweat or stink under the pits and I do have some "emergency" deod in my desk drawer. Shaddie...wow that sound like a winner on living with you, I could even take care of the house when you are off on one of your work adventurers. Do you think that job just have you there for their security and you are not supposed to be doing anything really? We have chocolate covered raisens here too, Raisenettes. I call them rabbit pellets, much like your sheep pellets. The wombat is cute, but so is Hella Bella, who also packs a good bite. lol. Goodluck to DS on job...I said a little prayer for him. Chelle....Wahoooo for Doppler...He will be one happy doggie come Saturday to run and romp. Hope your back does well today. Sending my love and hugs and good feelers. Happy....yes get your teeth cleaned. Much cheaper than pulling all teeth and getting dentures. A gal in the office, her DH, just got an estimate on getting his teeth pulled and dentures...$7800.00 bucks. With our insurance it brought it down to about $3000.00. So we know that is not the cheapest route to go. I would love to go to the Gulf shores with you and especially get a ROO fix. Maybe could hold me over till I get down to Shaddie's place. Halloween is no problem with me, I work at CVS on Halloween night as it gives all the other's with babes to take them trick or treating. Also don't have to buy candy. Just leave the porch lite off, that tells they to stay the heck away from my door. Mellie...wow what a reaction to the shot. Never heard of that before. My docs have always told me that it is mostly a psychological effect and whatever happens was going to happen anyway. Maybe you should talk to my docs...lol. Yet some more people for Mellie to set straight. Sending much love and hugs and also the good feelers to you and Jen. Hello to all the rest of yuns...probably sneaker inners coming about. Love yas, |
Just read my post, please excuse my grammer, wow wrong form of verbs, etc.
and no sneaker inners. |
Happy Thursday everyone -
As I mentioned last night, Doppler's appointment went really well. The vet said everything looks great, including the retina! We go back for another follow-up in a month. Doppler has the all clear to go "off-leash" starting Saturday. :woohoo: I'm leaving work at noon today to get the 3rd and hopefully final injection in my back. It may be unrealistic to think that this will be my last injection ever...I may have to go back in a year or two for another round...but I'm hopeful that I won't have to. I'm working from home tomorrow, which is good because if my back is sore from the shot, I won't feel much like driving to work. Mel - It turned out it's good that you got the comforter I ordered because I stopped at Kohl's yesterday and they had the same comforter but in the exact color that I wanted. This one will go much better with our bedroom. I'm glad you and Jen are enjoying the fruits of my ditzyness! I'm sorry to hear that you and Jen had awful reactions to the flu shot. When DH, DMIL and I got ours, we did okay, but everyone reacts differently. Sorry you had such a lousy day yesterday...and that people did things that upset the seniors. Shad - You ARE having lots of comings and goings! Congrats on saying goodbye to the kilo of weight!! :bravo: I hope DS2 has a great time with his friends. Still keeping my fingers :crossed: that he gets the apprenticeship. How nice it will be to have both DS1 and DS2 home at the same time. Thanks for the adorable baby Roo and wombat photos. My DH and I think wombats are totally adorable...so when we come for a visit in a few years, please let us know of a good place to see them. :) Glad you brought a book to work and have other stuff to do to keep you occupied. Is the offer to come live with you open to anyone...or just to Miss Annie? Maybe we can set up the Worldly commune at your house! Annie - Madeline is so cute!! What a great smile!! I can't believe that the Christmas stuff was in the stores last month. It's crazy. It's like they went from Back to School supplies straight to Christmas! It sucks that your company is talking about possibly shutting down the Indiana office. I'll be crossing my fingers :crossed: and praying that doesn't happen. There are SO many companies threatening to move out of Wisconsin unless they get MAJOR tax incentives and employee concessions to stay (Mercury Marine, Harley, and now Kohler Kitchen & Bath company. So nice you got to show DS off to your CVS work buddies. Good to hear your garden is still providing you with a bounty of veggies. We had our first frost a week ago...so that sort of did everything in. Now I just have to pull the dead plants and put them in the compost. Thanks for all the love, hugs and good wishes, my sista. And thanks for the wooden bowl - so touching and so true. Cin - I hope you get the job. Keeping my fingers :crossed: for you. Thanks for posting the photo of your Dylan and Paul! They look like they really get along great! :lol3: I'd love to see more photos of you and your surroundings. Bummer that there are others in your house that keep sweets. My DMIL does that when she's staying with us. It is very difficult and frustrating to stay OP when temptation is all around. Happy - I hope your dental appointment went well. Thanks for posting about your sleep number bed. It's great to hear they last so long. Maybe DH and I should take a look at those too. I was mostly kidding about doing a Zumba marathon...although there are two or three coming up in October, and I would love to do all of them...or at least 1 of them...but when I mentioned that in passing to my PT, he said NO WAY! I told him what you said about starting out with one easy class per week and taking it from there. He said you are very wise and give good advice. To which I replied laughing...you know me, I'm all or nothing. He said that he knows and that's my problem...I push myself way too hard too soon which is why I end up needing steroid injections in my back, along with traction once or twice a week. *Sigh* I guess I'll have to work up slowly to exercise :queen: by starting off as exercise princess or exercise court jester or something! Thanks for asking about my back...the back is doing better, although I'm still experiencing sciatica a few days a week. Overall, I've achieved approx. 65% relief from the two shots plus traction. Hoping the 3rd shot gets me close to 100% relief. Oh, and my hair NEVER bounces or behaves...the best I can hope for is to be able to beat it into submission! :lol3: OMG, you had a neighbor who died of H1N1? Scary! I'm glad it was included in this year's flu shot. As for Halloween, we have LOTS of kids in the neighborhood, so I'll be spending $20 or $30 on candy. I buy the types of candy that I can resist. Then I bring the leftovers to work. Ceejay - I like the idea of setting goals in terms of clothing sizes. Remember, for each minute you hang out with Little Debbie, you're delaying getting into your skinny clothes. Laura - I understand your frustration about the Metra delays, and the doctor delay after that. Why is it that for doc appts, you're supposed to arrive 15-30 min. early, but then they don't see you until 1/2 hour or more after your appt time? But from the little I've used them (when visiting friends in Chicago), I really like them. Bummer that your orthotics are less supportive. That's got to be SUPER frustrating. Are you going to get them re-made? Thanks for the review of "The Town". I'm not a huge fan of bank robber movies...though I did like "Public Enemies". Of course...you could just put Johnny Depp's face on a screen for 2 hours and I'd be happy. Lots of stuff to get done before I leave...so I'll check in after my shot if I'm not too sore...or tomorrow. Lots of love and hugs, |
Oh yes Chelle, Johnny Depp on absolutely anything works for me too! Quite Yummy, I might add. Now why can't we have a little bit of that indulgence hanging around our house...lol Please do take it EASY on getting back into the swing of exercising. We do not want you to digress into complete pain. Maddie will be here this weekend. It will be the first time I get to see her. If I do, I already have some plans for this weekend and also have to work at CVS. She will be 9 weeks old. Doppler will be acting like a bouncy little puppy.
|
I am a fan of Russell Crow also. He is yummy too! Simon Baker on the Mentalist also. See I could go with anyone of them, I don't have to have them all. Just send me one of them.
|
Popping in quick to say hello. Flu shot in 10 min. I haven't had any reaction in the past - hope not with this one either. Mel - I got about as far w/ reading posts just now to see that you and Jen had a bad reaction - so sorry to hear that!! Take care and feel better soon. :hugs:
Be back later to finish reading and hopefully post personals! |
Evening ladies -
Will just "quickly" try to reply to everyone, though please don't take it personal if I forget someone. It's so hard to keep track of everything, I don't know how people do it . Laura - good luck with the flu shot! diyana - glad to hear your back is getting better. Sounds awfully painful :(. Please do take care to not over-extend yourself off the bat! Btw, totally can recommend the Sleep Number beds. I had one when I stayed in the US and it was amazing!!!! annie - nice thinking with the 'emergency' deodorant. I forgot mine last time I went to the gym - it's all I can manage in the morning to roll out of bed and drive over to the gym, not much brain for anything else  . Luckily I also don't smell (too bad :D). Nobody fell off their machines next to me! I loved that story you posted about the wooden bowl! I think I'll steal the bit about how you can learn a lot about a person by how he/she handles kids, lost luggage, etc. as my FB status. It's perfect - and so true! ;-) Melody (and Jen) hope you feel better soon. I can't believe all this from a flu shot!!! happy - good luck at the dentist (hate them, but love the feeling of clean teeth!) Shad - never been in an old mini, but let me tell you: I love mine! It's a 2004, so not really "new" anymore, but it's so much fun to drive - like a go-cart!! I love zipping around the corners with it and of course, not having speed limits on the highways makes it all the more fun :D. I got it up to 240km/h once! :woohoo: Well, not a super exciting day today. Went to the gym and ironed (after the gym, obviously) while watching Boston Legal episodes. I LOVE that show!!! Am really hungry again, so will head to bed soon to forget about it. I feel I'm still retaining a lot of water weight (at least that's what I'm telling myself as I'm not really losing weight despite eating on plan and exercising daily). I made myself drink 3 cups of nettle tea, which is supposed to flush our any excess water. I think it's working - I need a potty break every 30 mins!!! Should be an interesting night. Will check back in tomorrow and will try to find some pics, too! Good night everyone  |
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...04ef/event.png Ten day now is my goal to not have a binge!! I also plan on keeping up with the daily work-out of 30-60 min (Zumba, waling, weights, elliptical..etc) step-by-step I will eat healthy, treat myself kindly, and lose weight in a sane way http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...H5D/weight.png One for every five pounds :sklol::sklol::sklol::sklol::sklol::sklol: (one pound away from thirty actually) |
I'm back!
Shad - Thanks for the wombat pic! No, I can't actually see you lasting until December on this assignment if they can't keep you busy. And I can't imagine 11 people in a Mini either, LOL!! Wow, I hope DS can make it through every step of that looooong process and get that apprenticeship! Michelle - Glad Doppler will be off the leash on Saturday - I'm sure he'll be one happy puppy! I'm hoping this injection does the trick for you. Easing back into the exercise sounds best - hope you'll be able to start back soon. I enjoy movies w/ Johnny Depp, but I just saw a trailer for one w/ him and Angelina Jolie... not a huge fan of her, and it didn't look that great. We'll see. Mel -Sorry about the bad day yesterday and now this bad flu shot reaction - you poor thing! I hope you're having a cozy afternoon under the comforter and the pain subsides lickety split. Not to rub it in...but I didn't even need a bandage, and I can't even see where she injected me. LOL re the bank "they screwed me better than my ex husband". Ya know, I don't know where Ben Affleck has been either. I thought I heard he might have political aspirations. The volunteer project went well, even though it wasn't my cup of tea. More about that later. Annie - Sorry to hear the IN office may close if biz doesn't pick up. Good to get on the hunt now. Nice that bb got to meet your cvs family! Yum for all the veggies you were able to harvest. :hungry: I'm using the last of our tomatoes in a spaghetti sauce this weekend. We have a lot of chili peppers, which BF chose to grow, but he hasn't made good use of them. I'm going to nag him to make some chili this weekend. My version of it isn't good enough for him so last fall he found a special prize winning recipe, so la-ti-da, go right ahead. Our fire drills only require us to relocate a few floors up or down, not a total evacuation of the building, so we only had to go down two floors. Ceejay - Yeh, we're getting our Indian summer this weekend - we'll get to 80 I think. I fully intend to enjoy it. Back out in the yard to harvest what's left of the veggies, pull out the veggie plants, take down the fence around the veggie patch, etc. Happy - Hope the teeth cleaning went well. I had a sensitive spot last week, but it stopped. I suppose it might need a filling at some point. Ugh. I grew up on the north side - 4600 north, 4000 west, and I've used public transportation (CTA) all my life. I just need to keep up with what the fares are up to - and as long as I keep a transit card loaded with some $$ for my occasional CTA trips, I'm good to go. BF and I thought Boston's mass transit was pretty good, but we were just tourists so we didn't get too far afield while we were there. Hi Cincy!! Re the volunteer project: We were at the warehouse of an organization that collects & sorts donated food for distribution to food pantries, shelters, etc. One group of 20 sorted dairy products by the expiration dates - they were given lab coats to stay warm in the coolers, but many were really chilled by the end of the 3 hours. I was glad I wasn't in that group. The group I was in bagged romaine lettuce leaves. It's donated in giant boxes by produce suppliers (say 4 ft cubes), and we had to pick out the good leaves and toss the bad. And the further down in the giant boxes we went, the lettuce had a lot of condensation and had often started to wilt and go bad - doesn't help it may have sat in the supplier's coolers for a few days before being shipped to the food warehouse. You know I didn't want a salad for dinner last night, LOL! I was pooped when I got home - not used to standing for 3 hours straight anymore like I did for jobs in my youth. But we still walked doggy, and I dragged my butt down to the basement and did one BE workout. Sore today from triceps and pushup routines. I had packed my gym bag last night and plum forgot it this morning when I left the house! And I'd made a sandwich for lunch and everything so I could do my workout and eat lunch at my desk. Grrr. I'm way behind on the cardio this week. Ate lunch at my desk and made appts for annual ob-gyn exam, mammo, and allergist. I'm miffed about the orthotics, but I'm not ready to go back just yet. But I won't let much time go by. Boss and the other mgr left for their trip, so this afternoon has been quiet. I finished up the last couple things on a major project yesterday and today - yay. Tomorrow is on to the next thing. Tonight I have nothing planned, but I think we should get to the market. Oh, and I might be returning the raincoat I bought. I'm disappoint that it's tight across the chest. Not sure how one size larger will be, but I might order it and see. I'm just not sure I like the coat enough to bother. Okay, I'll get this posted at long last. TTFN! |
Morning all,
Watched a program on tv last night about Worldly Fatchick. It was only a half hour program but quite entertaining. If it comes your way, have a watch because you will see Worldly in action. At this time he/ she is busy feeding the emerging chicks who are almost big enough to be let loose on the world. They are hungry little critturs too. In case it doesn't come your way, try this link for an update.http://www.abc.net.au/tv/penguinisla...CTV_penguin_au Cin - in case you are wondering - the Worldly Chicks adopted a Penguin when I was in Victoria earlier this year. He is called the Worldly Fatchick and that's him/ her on my avatar. Apart from it being an incentive for some of us to lose weight - it was a surprise until Michelle got to a certain weight - it's a tax concession for me. Maybe we will do it again next year for another endangered animal. Laura - Ugh, can't imagine much worse than slimy lettuce - apart from sour milk maybe, but at least that is in the carton or bottle and can't be smelt unless opened. Good for you doing the workout after all that sorting. Hello Annputation Cin - I often find that if I exercise regularly and eat well and drink the water, the weight does not drop off very fast for quite some time. It is as if the body is just hanging on to everything. I find that measurement helps keep me on track at this time because often the inches slide away but the weight remains static. Annie - Hold off on the Russell Crowe antics for a bit. I'm not sure he could handle you or you him for that matter. You'll find his house just down the road a couple of hours from me. No doubt he will be out mowing the lawns and playing with the kids about now. Still coming over???? Good to hear the BB made it and you had a nice visit. Bah Humbug on the holiday stuff coming in. Makes it hard for everyone having that around so early. There is no fun in having to make last minute dash out for new lights or decorations this way. Thanks for the 'Wooden Bowl'. I did get it on my e-mail yesterday as well. Michelle - When you come for a visit we will find a place for wombats. I know several where they are held in sanctuaries but I've only seen them in the wild in one place - and that is not that far from the penguins. Anyone can come down and live with me - if you can stand it - but if a few decide on the commune, we may have to buy a bigger place. My house is not that big. Mel - Bad news on that reaction to the shot. Rest up, plenty of fluids, stay calm and watch the dvds. Forget the outside world for as long as it takes. Love to Jen too. Happy - Hope the dentist went okay and you are good to go for the next six months or so. Start making some revolting coffee and forget to put dishwash powder in the dishwasher and ensure there are no clean cups for them to use. Make loud un-understandable noises when confronted with the rudeness of talking in a different language and say you were speaking to yourself in Erse and if it is alright for them to do it in one language, then it is alright for you to do it in another. I don't have time for this politically correct crap. Anyway, better get off this internet and start thinking about work again. Maybe today will be the day that someone somewhere finds something I can do. |
This has been a do nothing day except for class. We may not have to go next week. Our "teacher" has covered (litterally read) most of the material in the book in approximately 6 hours worth of actual class room time. I'm not to sure how this would set with the health department. This is suppose to be a 24 hour class. But as long as I get my hours I'm not going to fuss. I just hope the hours are not rejected.
I want to work out in the yard tomorrow. Mel Sorry that you and Jen had a reaction to the flu shots. Feel better soon Michelle hope the injection does take hold. and you are right--little deb should not be welcome in this house or at work. happy how did it go with the dentist? Annie, laura and Cin  may get up in the morning and go to super walmart to the grocery store and stop by Verizon. The card they gave me for the computer didn't take. I'm going to exchange it if I can. I'm wondering if I have to take the one from I had with alltell offline. Night night. |
:cofdate: GOOD MORNING CHICKS.
NOT EXACTLY UP TO PAR JUST YET BUT GETTING THERE. JEN TOO. THE DOC SAID ANOTHER DAY OR TWO SHOULD DO THE TRICK. SOME OF HIS OTHER PATIENTS IN THE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY CLINIC HAD IT MUCH WORSE. WE WERE LUCKY :D THE SUN IS OUT AND WE MIGHT GO OUTSIDE LATER FOR A WALK TO THE STORE. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY. GOING BACK TO READ AND POST LATER. |
Happy FRIDAY!! FINALLY!!
Well let's see.....Good news for me...I actually ate OP all day yesterday for the first time in probably 6 months. Slice of cheese and 20 grapes for breakfast, baked sweet potato w/a bit of butter for lunch, did NOT snack at CVS, plenty of water, ran around CVS unloading totes for exercise, then a huge veggie salad with honey mustard yogurt dressing for dinner. When I say ran around CVS emptying totes, I literally walked extremely fast. For the extra exercising, I left the flat cart with totes at the end of the aisle then went back and forth with armloads to deliver to shelves. It took more time that way, but got the extra movement. Day one down, now on to day two. So far today...canteloupe, hard boiled egg and slice of cheese. Lunch is a huge veggie salad I brought from home. Baby boy was not home when I got home from CVS last night, but heard him come in around 1:30 am, so I got up to visit with him for a bit and of course,,,scratch his back. He had gone to the movies with his cousin to see what I thought he said was called "Other" or something like that, anyway said it was hilarious. Cincy...might want to drink your tea in the morning rather than afternoon and evening, you were probably up all night in the loo. Laura...mmmmm Chili, I might make some of my famous chili this weekend too. Sound good, but it is supposed to me sunny 85 Sat and 86 on Sunday. Won't feel much like chili then. Working 3 hours on your feet, now you know how I feel when I work at CVS 8 hour shifts on my feet. Only I do not have the feetie stuff going on like you do. Yikes. Shad....wilted lettuce, skanky milk and molded cheese...yik. I know blue cheese is made of mold but yuk. Now I KNOW I will be down to visit. Russell Crowe out in his yard, heck I would even cut his grass for him if he would sit out there so I could look at him. lol Chelle...hope the back is feeling ok today, hugs sista. At least Doppler can lay around with you....right! Ceejay...to bad the teach wasn't reading some trashy novels to you all instead of the boring stuff...lol MELLIE....hope you are feeling better today, maybe a personal visit by the firemen would perk you up...wink. Happy....hope your day is going well. I am going to a Octoberfest themed party with an actual beer garden on Saturday. It is being held at someone's house. This is also a cover for my friend, Dan's birthday, who turns 50. It is going to be a blast. It starts at 4pm....kind of early for a beer garden and all night drinking. Then I have to be at work on Sunday at 11 to 7pm. Should be interesting. At least I get to wear Colts jersey to work on Sunday. Manager allows it when there is a game. How cool!! A now friend of mine, used to be a BF, is flying in from Oregon tonight. I won't see him til tomorrow, but I think he is going to the party with me. This too shall be interesting. That about covers it for me....have a marvelous Friday everyone! Loves and hugs, |
MELLIE...you little sneaker inner...you and Jen take it easy and rest. Sending loves and hugs and good feelers.

Happy Friday -
I'm working from home and super crazy busy!! I'll try and post more later. The back shot yesterday was EXCRUCIATING! He got really close to a nerve and it felt like 10,000 volts going down my leg to my toes. It hurt so bad that I lurched and jerked nearly off the table, not too bright with the needle very close to my spinal cord. Luckily the doc got the needle out quickly enough. Thank heavens he has good reflexes. Anyway, then he had to wait for me to calm down and stop bawling (by then it was more out of fear/shock more than pain) and then start the procedure over. Anyway, after all that, I hope the dang thing takes and I don't have to go through it again for at least a year or two (or hopefully never). I am definitely gonna get this weight off and strengthen my core ASAP. I'll still be doing traction at PT to hopefully get my bulging disks sucked back into place. I'm a little sore today, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Mel - I hope you and Jen are feeling better soon. Stay snuggled under the comforter and watch some good TV. Annie - Have a wonderful time with Miss Maddie. Congrats on the lottery ticket winnings. I've got to get back to work. I'll write more later. Love and hugs, |
popping in to say hello------
Back later. The day is getting away from me. |
Hello all. The day got away from me. I brought my gym gear today, took a shorter lunch and left the office a bit early to do my cardio workout before catching my train home.
In the future, if I ever mention I plan to do that again, please remind me NOT TO. First off, I didn't leave my desk quite early enough, so I only got about 20 minutes on the elliptical. Then I was rushing to get out of there to get my train, so I took a quicky shower - just rinsed off, no soap. Then, like the last time I did this, I was going full speed for the 4 blocks to the train station lugging my purse, backpack, and gym bag and barely made the last express train. After taking a seat I needed to pull out my towel to wipe off the sweat - as least I got to finish my cardio workout, LOL. :lol3: Bf had a wake to attend for a friend's mother tonight, and then a work thing. I took doggy for a short walk. What a nice evening. We ate pizza for dinner (I know, not so good - thank goodness at least the rest of the day's food was alright) and then bf left. I watched the original 1974 version of "The Taking of Pelham 123" on DVD from Netflix. I enjoyed it. I liked the 1970's New York City flavor - references to its financial and crime problems back then. I probably enjoyed it more than I will enjoy the remake w/ Travolta. Shad - Sorry you're twiddling your thumbs again. Thanks for the update on Worldly Fatchick and the link. Ceejay - At least you're getting your hours for licensing. Does a lot change from year to year? Did you get to do any yard work today? (or was that yesterday?) Annie - Congrats on being OP and getting the activity (while being paid!). Keep it going kiddo. :) Enjoy that Octoberfest aka Dan's 50th, and have a nice visit w/ your Oregon pal. Yee-ha for the lottery win. Mel - Hope you're feeling better today. Did you get outside today? We're having gorgeous weather here. :sunny: Michelle - I'm sorry the shot was so painful. Sounds just awful. I'm sure having known how it would be from your last two injections made it just that much more difficult. Take it easy and have a good weekend, okay? Hellos to Happy and Cincy!! Well, I thought I had an entirely free weekend, but I forgot we were going to bf's mom's for a pork roast dinner. And now bf tells me he invited his mother to come here instead with all the fixings so we don't have to worry about getting home to feed and walk Coal. Aaargh. Some cleaning will be necessary tomorrow morning, but it'll be nicer to be at home. It'll be worth getting the 3-season room in shape since we'll be able to eat our meal out there. :) That's about it for me. I'll get this posted and get ready for bed. Everyone have a lovely weekend. |
Well it's been one of those days. I've worked myself to a standstill but the house looks clean and tidy and loved and dusted. Now I have two more things to do. Empty 2 more boxes and do some document work for my mate Mick. A couple of hours on that tonight will see a big difference to a very so-so document. People might actually read it.
Not doing personals today. I want to sit in front of the telly for an hour or so with a glass of wine and not think too hard. I took the vaccuum cleaner to pieces this morning and have finally got that sorted. It is under threat to perform or go the same way as the last non working properly cleaner. It took heed of the warning and is sucking away madly again. Annie - so pleased for the $10.00 win. Spend it on something nice for you. |
HAPPY SATURDAY CHICKS.

Happy Saturday ladies -
Sounds like yesterday was a runaway day for most of us. After work, I mowed the lawn, went to the grocery store and then had to log back into my work computer to check on some reports which took 2 hours. Finally got to relax at 10 and fell right asleep. Some Friday night party animal I am, huh? NOT  I had hoped to feel well enough to go to a beginner Zumba class today. My back hesitated at the thought, and my lungs, which for some reason are a bit congested today, said NO WAY. So I'll do some website work and watch some telly before it warms up, then spend the rest of the day in the yard with the doggies. Doppler has had his first taste of being off leash and he's frollicking - running, bouncing (like a little lamb) and just generally having a great time! Cin - Good for you for getting to the gym and getting your ironing done. I hate to iron. I used to watch Boston Legal a lot. Now there are so many other shows that I DVR, I had to let that one slip. I didn't know that about nettle tea. How does it taste? Annputation - Welcome! I saw your post about daily exercise and Zumba. *sigh* I used to be the Zumba :queen: around here. I used to Zumba nearly every day for at least 30 minutes. I haven't done Zumba'ed in about 3 months since my chronic back issue flared up very badly. I miss Zumba so much. I hope to get back to one or two Zumba Gold classes this week. Zumba Gold is less intense than a regular Zumba. Laura - I really like Angelina Jolie's acting, so I'm sure I'll see the movie with her and Johnny Depp. I think you're right about Indian Summer this weekend. It's going to be in the mid-70s! :dancer: Good for you for your volunteering!! :bravo: I know my back would NOT allow me to stand for 1/2 hour, much less 3 hours. Chili sounds really good...but maybe not this warm weekend. Shad - Thanks for posting (and sending me) the link about Worldly!! Such a cutie!! I can't wait until DH and I get to Australia and go there. Glad to hear that the wombats are near the penguins, making it very convenient for our trip in a few years. Watching Russell Crowe mow the lawns...talk about eye candy!! Ceejay - Hope your class went well. I hope your training hours aren't rejected. Annie - Good for you for getting all that exercise with the totes!! Getting paid to exercise! :bravo: Have a great time at the Octoberfest party!! Mel - Not another word about my mistake. It worked out best for both of us! Enjoy!! I'd best get on with it before today gets away from me Love and hugs to all, |

Hello all,
Sorry I have been away. Made it to the dentist Thursday - she was extra gentle so that was good. I have a broken crown (kah-ching). I have an overbite and my bottom two teeth are wearing out my two front teeth that will need to be crowned. (kah-ching, kah-ching). And I have weird teeth - tiny teeth on one side of my mouth and bigger teeth on the other (thanks Mom and Dad). It's not really obvious unless you look for it. But it does make for large gaps and shifting in my mouth. So the small tooth next to the front tooth should be crowned two and bonded next to the front teeth (kah-ching, kah-ching, kah-ching). You can actually rock my front teeth they are hitting so hard. I do not have either the cash ($3,000) or the insurance to do this right now. So it will have to be carefully planned with next year's insurance. My mouth is costing me a fortune and I do NOT have a brilliant set of pearly whites like the young kids, let me tell you. If I added it all up was probably the same cost as my first 4Runner! We got my car tuned up before we went on vacation - it was at a mileage point of major maintenance so that was $1300. Brought that home and DH was driving me to work and noticed his car was overheating. Had to get towed to the dealer and a part replaced - another $400. The garage door opener broke this week. And despite jumping through hoops on DH's part - he still can't get a job. So after the dentist I was just down the street from home and I went home to work for a few hours. DH wanted my SUV to go pick up some building supplies and a new motor for the garage door so he dropped me off at the office. I was going to an afternoon class at one of the other offices - the one 4 minutes from my house. I got out of the car, stepped up on the sidewalk and the next thing I know I was going down hard. I tried to right myself but it happened so fast I couldn't catch my balance. I twisted and slammed down full force on the cement on my right knee. I scraped both of my hands and slammed my left hand as I put that out straight to keep my head elevated and break the fall. I laid on the sidewalk and could not get up. DH didn't notice at first and almost drove away. Then someone noticed and came running by me which caught his attention. I was stunned and embarrased (always feel like the old cow took a tumble :o ) but I truly felt I could not stand up. The knee was hurting like crazy. I had scraped my knee badly but did not rip my pants if you can figure that one out. We had gotten hollered at before for not following procedure if someone gets injured so I just sat on the sidewalk. The security guard did not know what to do. I am not from that building so I don't know anyone. He said to call HR - I didn't know who HR was nor did I have the number of our HR person with me as I was not planning on having an accident that day. He also told me to call 911 for an ambulance. Me call? Does it look like I am ready to take charge here? Neither DH or I knew how to call 911 from our cell phone - is it just 911???? Finally someone got the HR person who started asking me questions. They wanted to know if there was a witness. There was one service guy in a big truck who was mad that we were blocking the area but he drove away. There were 2 girls who come to water the plants but they were not facing me when I fell. I said to the guard - don't you have a security camera as this was right at the front entrance? He went and looked but the camera does a wide sweep so it did not catch my fall. Some security, huh? :dunno: Another reason not to be at ANY of the office buildings after dark. I finally told DH to go into the lobby, use the guest phone and call 911 for an ambulance. My leg hurt like it did when I fell at work a long time ago and tore the tendon and broke my leg. Still the questions continued. I almost felt like they were acusing me of faking it  Finally I pulled up my pants leg, showed them the growing bruise on my shin and the scraped leg and said - I REALLY DID get hurt. I wanted to say that maybe because I was white I was just supposed to dust myself off and limp in and go back to work but I bit my tongue. It took forever before a big old firetruck showed up. (Mel you would have been proud). Since I fell in the city limits I had to wait for the Memphis fire department to show up. The firemen were very very nice although one guy had a real hard time taking the report - I guess my accent is so bad that I had to keep repeating myself  They took vitals and finally the ambulance came. I thought to myself - thank God I am not bleeding or having a heart attack! The ambulance driver was also very nice but the EMT who was young was a jerk and a half. I was ready to pop him one. Very rude. He seemed to act as if I was wasting their time. They could not take me to the hospital I wanted but instead took me to a nearby one. The nurses there were very good. I got an xray - nothing broken on my hand or leg - just soft tissue injuries. I was also given a tetanus shot. I was given a knee immobilizer which truly immobilizes you - especially when you are short! I didn't quite know how to get up into the truck  What an ordeal! The immobilzer kept sliding down my leg and digging into my ankle very painfully. So I took that off and spent a good part of Thursday night and Friday in a recliner with an ice pack. I am doing ok. Was hurting much more yesterday than Thursday but I will be ok. They called my boss who was in the doctor's office herself at the time - not so sure she was happy about that. I'm sure they all just think I am old and fat and feeble. :( So that's why I have been away. While I have been typing this, DH is out in the garage trying to fix the door. He has asked for my help several times so I'd better get off the computer and go stand at the ready. Forgive my lack of personals. Will try and get on this evening to catch up. Have a good weekend chicks. |
Michelle - it was GREAT chatting with you on FB this morning. :D
Mel - I have already hollered at her for both of us :nono: Your Pepper soup sounds very close to what DH made this week. Except we used spaghetti noodles instead of rice. I did not care for it at all but DH loved it. Of course steak and peppers is not even close to being near to the 1,000 things I'd like to eat list  |
Busy working on doco and the dining room is maybe not the place for this. For some reason the back is becoming quite sore. I'm about to have a rest.
Nothing much new here. Mel - recipe sounds nice Happy - ouch on the knee and wrist. Silly billy you are. Why did you decide to fall over the kerb?? Michelle - slow and steady will do the trick. Probably at this time of healing you should be walking steadily to get get exercise, not twist and bend and dance. Shame but there it is. I add my voice to the chorus above DS1 should be on his way north now. I look forward to seeing him when he arrives about Tuesday. I shall ring him later tonight for an update. Hope the weather warms up and improves before he gets here. Today has been quite cool. In fact I am wearing a jersey because I got so cold sitting here. Should get up and go for a walk or something. Haven't heard from DS2 so he must be enjoying himself as well. Aaah pain. I must get back to this doco. See you |

JUST TAKING IT EASY YESTERDAY MADE ME FEEL ALMOST LIKE MY OLD SELF AGAIN. I AM GLAD WE HAVE THE 3 DAY WEEKEND. HAVE A WONDERFUL SUNDAY/MONDAY! :moped: |
Good morning all,
Yesterday I was soooooo mad I was swearing a blue streak and throwing myself about. The end of this month is sign up for medical and dental benefits for next year's plan. Those #()%&&@#&@*&%$%$+(#)* :rollpin: :rollpin: :censored: :censored: :censored:  insurance companies are a piece of CRAP. My medical insurance premium is going up $175 a MONTH. it is now TWICE what it was when I first signed up after DH got dumped from his job in 2009. The insurance companies are blaming Obamacare BUT the fact is that they have to now drop the lifetime maximum clause on insurance. Before if you got cancer or some devastating disease, they could drop you for costing them too much. Funny how they never complain about TAKING your money, only about paying claims. Now they are jumping on the bandwagon saying this will cost them billions so they are GOUGING us on premiums. Go to any insurance companies main headquarters and you will see the most beautiful buildings - built with your money. Yet they cry poor poor poor. I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES - they are the scourge of this earth. :rollpin: This means our retirement insurance will almost be unaffordable. I refuse to pay that much money. Refuse. I went to the doctor alot this year and got my money's worth - simply because I had good insurance and was paying alot for it. Told DH that we have to rethink things - will probably go to the high deductible plan and take the money that we would have paid in premiums and stick in in a savings account to pay for medical expenses as they occur. And I just won't go to the doctor for anything other than what I absolutely need - like thyroid pills. Forget the boob squeezes - no history of cancer on my side - forget the annual check ups. This country is in a sad, sad state. A kid signs a contract and gets $300,000 per episode to read 10 lines in a 30 minute weekly comedy yet half the country is struggling. Someone like Mel routinely get audited and messed up, DH can't find a job and what little we have, they are squeezing us to death. Yet the rich get richer. It is becoming like England of old with royalty and serfs. Got myself all worked up again. Got to calm down. Focus on what I want in life. I also need to get off the expensive metformin for the blood sugar - losing weight and changing the eating habits have to be a priority. HAVE TO. Can't afford medical and medicine if we want to retire and I don't want to stay in this horrid town a minute more than I have to. Sorry to be such a crabber today. I'm just fed up. Guess I'll take this anger and put it to good use scrubbing the floor  Hope you all have a good day. Thanks for the good thoughts Mel. I'm glad you are feeling like the Mel of the good old days. Try to keep that feeling. Shad - did you get the doco done? How nice to see DS1 again - is he the one in NZ? How long of a visit? I need to make some phone calls - talk to you later... |
oh and last bit about the insurance - it's either single or family plan. Some genuis figured that one out - I have to pay 2 and a half times my rate to cover DH. Someone with 5 kids and a spouse pays exactly what I do. So I get gouged for adding one person while the more people you add, the cheaper it gets. And they are really sticking it to the people who cover domestic partners - they pay the family rate AND a premium on top of that. I don't see how that can be legal. I told DH we are just going to adopt 2 families and we will all split the premium amongst us - much cheaper that way. ;)

HAPPY....I'M SORRY TO HEAR YOUR NEWS ABOUT MEDICAL COSTS. THAT'S TERRIBLE! WHY IS IT ALWAYS SUCH A PROBLEM IN ONE OF THE RICHEST COUNTRIES TO GET MEDICAL HELP AT A DECENT COST? THE PRICES IN THE HOSPITALS FOR AN ASPIRIN ARE OUTRAGEOUS. MEDICAL CARE IN THE USA IS A JOKE. BUT....YOU CAN ADOPT ME & JEN AND THEN RICHIE...WE'LL BE THE 2 FAMILIES YOU NEED TO LOWER THE INS. PREMIUMS. BUT LET ME GO OUT AND FIND ALL OF US A JOB FIRST SO WE CAN HELP OUT!!
|
Hey everybody.
Mel - Glad you're feeling better today. Sorry the alarms seem to be happening more frequently. Are the people in your building setting them off by reading steamy novels? Michelle - I third the opinion of everyone (or is that 4th?) - just take it easy! Get that pedometer clipped on and start back into exercise with some walking. :rollpin: Happy - So sorry to hear about your fall!! I'm glad it wasn't serious like the last fall you mentioned. And sorry about the expensive dental problems AND the whopping insurance costs. When it rains it pours! Now I'm nervous about what's in store during my employer's open enrollment for health benefits. They've been trying to encourage us to enroll in the high deductible plan the past couple years. I imagine that will continue with even stronger "encouragement" this year. Hope they're still trying the carrot approach and don't move to sticks. Shad - I always get uncomfortable when working at home - not as ergonomically correct of a setup at home. Hope ds1 has good weather for his visit. When will ds2 be back for this little family reunion? Hellos to annie, ceejay & cincy! :) Yesterday was spent cleaning and then bf's mum arrived around 3 pm just as we finished walking doggy. Bf did all the cooking - it was great. :). Lovely day so we sat outside for a bit and then in the 3-season room until dinner was ready. Dinner was a pork roast, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Yum. After bf's mom had gone home, we looked at some old home videos - footage taken 11 years ago during the inspection of the house we live in now (we still laugh at the previous owner's decor), during our first Christmas in the house, at one of our first parties here, and at the zoo. That was fun viewing. Not up to much today. I read most of the morning both indoors and out, harvesting some more garden veggies, and I just returned the raincoat at the Land's End outlet, not too far from home (more convenient than shipping it back). I didn't re-order the coat in a larger size because I tried on the same coat at the outlet in one size larger and of course it was too big - sleeves too long, body of it too baggy. I did order a pair of convertible mittens (fingerless gloves w/ a mitten flap over them). They must have known I wanted mittens - last year they only had gloves. :D Well, it's past lunchtime and I'm getting hungry. Have to get bf's a$$ in gear and get something. Also better tune in to the Bears-Carolina Panthers game and see how that's going. Oh how I wish I had Columbus Day as a holiday!! Bye for now ladies! |
Morning all,
Well we have the worst weather in many years at the moment. I have decided to stay home today since the creeks are swollen and flooding across roads and the local river that they feed is now 3 metres above normal. Water is lying down the side of the house and on the back lawn. It is draining into the next door yard and that poor man has water coming into one part of his house. As I said to the work people, I may get out but I may not get home so I am not going. I'll try to get in touch with DS1 today - he is driving up from Adelaide and tell him to be careful of all the water around. I'll probably get told to stop fussing, but how does one stop. I haven't finished Micks doco yet. Ran into a few problems and then had to fight Microsoft for formatting problems and finally threw my hands up in the air and rewrote parts without formatting and slotted it in where I could. Sometimes I could strangle Microsoft. I will be getting onto it today. Should get it done by days end. But I will be moving around more today instead of just sitting here working. Happy - so sorry to hear about the Medical insurance fiasco. What a pain. Makes me so pleased that I don't have to face things like that and that I set up my own savings for medical stuff years ago. Insurance has always been a tricky thing. On one hand the insurance company tries hard not to pay out and on the other, people try to get money out of insurance for some very nefarious injuries, losses and burglaries. It's a catch 22 and as with most of those, the people who try to play fair, who don't try to rort the system or only take enough to get them through the worst, and those who don't have choices are the ones who seem to end up paying. Bet the floors are sparkling now! Mel - I swear those alarms are getting more and more sensitive and I find it ridiculous that I can go to Brisbane Airport and put my bag through the x-ray machine and nothing happens. Then I get to Melbourne Airport and they want to see what's inside because they think I have something dangerous. Same bag, same contents, what gives? Chris brought in a swiss army knife in the bottom of her hand luggage through Sydney. They put the bag through the x-ray twice and moved it around a bit and then let it go. Obviously she looks harmless enough. She had forgotten it was there. She had only been saying a while back that she couldn't find it and must have lost it. Don't they know that this is one very dangerous woman??? Laura - DS1 lives in Adelaide in South Australia. He is coming up for 3 weeks and DS2 will be back next weekend. Man that pork roast sounded good. Pity DS1 is vegetarian otherwise I might have one for his homecoming. Right since I am home and it is still raining I had better get on with the job. Ha Ha just watching the news and looking at the flooded bits of the city. One street has a sign out - Caution, Water over Road - trouble is that the water is 2/3rds of the way up the sign and the only words visible are - Caution Water - Yesterday we had 4 inches of rain, overnight another 8 near enough and we haven't quite seen the worst yet apparently although it is supposed to ease tomorrow. See ya |
:turkey:HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY!!

Good morning folks,
Got to bed way too late last night, slept a little bit longer to try and make up for it (not really) so I'm tired and running behind today. Catch you later... |
Hi ladies -
I took all of your advice and did not Zumba. I did a bit of walking and lots of playing with the dogs. Yesterday, I had a bout of numbness down my leg and got very frustrated. This :censored: shot had better :censored: work! I'm not going to give up hope though. I'm still going to do traction at PT, which pulls my vertebrae apart so the disks can get sucked back into place. And I'm going to continue with my core strengthening exercises. And eat healthy. DH and I were driving around looking at the lovely fall colors, and it really made me wish we could've gone hiking on the beautiful, colorful wooded trails rather than drive by them. I'm so not done doing fun stuff like that!! Anyway, I've got to get back to work. I'll check in later. Love and hugs to all, |
Happy Monday everyone! That's my impression of perky.
Shad - Wow, that's a lot of rain - I'm sure the reservoirs have their fill now. :rain: Hope it stops soon and that ds1 has a safe drive up. Re the security at the airport - when I traveled last year, I had my mace confiscated from my purse. BF's mother had given it to me a few months prior to that and I totally forgot I had it in there. Doh! I still haven't replaced it yet, but its pink case is sitting around somewhere. Mel - LOL re zero tolerance for anything! :D Actually, yesterday's late lunch/early dinner was just a beef pot roast sandwich and soup from Culver's. I suppose that can be considered a fast food restaurant (so I'm not exactly ON PLAN), but the sandwich is actually quite lean (and tasty), but it was the soup that turned out to be not so great nutritionwise...Post TOM weigh-in today showed me down a pound, but I need to get on the ball with the food logging or I'll just keep fluctuating up and down the same couple pounds. Happy - Not such a good start to your Monday! Hope your knee is feeling better today. Make sure you get to bed at a reasonable time tonight!! Michelle - Glad you took it easy this weekend. I drove past a forest preserve yesterday and the colors are beautiful, but not at their peak yet. Some gorgeous colors in our neighborhood too! So what do your doctors think about one of those home inversion contraptions that turn you upside down and are supposed to take pressure off your spine? Wonder if doing that for a short time each day would be helpful. Hellos to Annie, Cincy & Ceejay! Nothing much to report. Bf and I watched part of the original Wall Street movie last night. I was sort of bored actually, but it was funny seeing the trappings of the 80's. We'll probably finish watching the rest of it tonight. Wait, I think we're going to have to go grocery shopping instead. I dunno. Pretty quiet here today since 2 dept members are out of the office and there are no meetings today. It's a nice day today so I'll definitely get out at lunch. Okay, back to the salt mines! |
Hey all,
Back again, hopefully people will leave me alone so I can post - yah think? Michelle - if you are getting numbness from just walking I have to believe that it was very wise of you to skip the jumbling Zumba class - even if it does make you sad. I think that's one of the hardest things to accept about getting older - things will take their sweet time to heal, even if we are eager to get on with stuff. I do hope this last shot takes. My SIL from WI called yesterday to find out what was going on and after we chatted we talked about the fall colors. She said because you had such a rainy summer, the colors are just brilliant this year. I think because we are darn near in drought conditions here, our colors will be very blah this season. Leaves are turning brown and falling here with just a hint of yellow here and there. I'm glad Doppler at least had a good time being frisky :D Laura - oh the joys of a pot roast sandwich :hungry: You've got me drooling now - was looking for something different to have for dinner this week- I think you just helped me out! What fun to look at old videos of your house. I sort of wish we had kept more pictures and journals of time passing. It's neat to revisit that. As long as YOU haven't kept the same decorations  Isn't it frustrating about the coat not fitting and the next size being too large? I think the quality of the clothing is going downhill. I buy things from Coldwater Creek (on sale) and have found the quality is really getting bad. Some shells and sweaters start to fray after only 2 washings. Mel - did you find that troublesome motor yet? "Get your motor running... head out on the highway... looking for adventure... in whatever comes our way - BORN TO BE WILD!!!!" Get them wheels of fire going and find that pesky asthmatic. I'll bet that sometimes you just laugh at the foolishness of what they ask you. No better feeling that flipping the pillow and getting a few extra zzzzz's on a rainy day. Doze if you can't go puddle jumping! Mel said the c-word. :rolf: Notice how easily she worked it in :s: Ok, so WHY are we celebrating Columbus Day? Yay -so old Chris decided that hey - there's land yonder. So there it say from 1492 until the 1600's when the English dissidents were looking for a place to relocate... Meanwhile they were loading up Australia with convicts (from where I might ask). Shad - it is almost incomprehensible to me that you are under the great flood waters considering the parched land of just a few years back. I have to believe this is highly unusual. Hope you don't have to sandbag the house. The weather is getting more goofy - who says there's no global warming? So how long is DS1 staying to visit? That is IF he can get in. Might have to borrow a dingy to go get him. Well 1 minute after I started this note and said maybe no one will bother me, my phone rang and it was the boss following up on my fall. I think I would have been better off just rolling off the pavement and into my class for all the commotion this is causing. I have some other comments but will keep them in my head. I need to get back on my monthly reports. Hello to Annie, Cinci, Ceejay and Patty. |
Happy
I fully understand about the insurance problems. One thing I found out from my insurance is that each different doctor you see there's a 1000 deductible. I usually end up paying for my dr's visit's. The insurance company paid next to nothing on the sinus surgery but to my luck the NEA hospital wrote off the biggest part of it. Insurance companies are a big rip off. Hope you are feeling better. Michelle I hope you didn't get on the lawn mower. Your back is not ready for that. More later. I'm needing to back wash a filter. And I have the stand by for water/sewer plus electric stand by person out. I just got back from having class but I'm still not liking the fact that I feel cheated in some way's. |
Morning all,
Lordy but I am tired. Just plain bone weary and I don't know why and it is driving me crazy. Woke up with a stinking headache this morning and although it has now gone away, I am left with the numb feeling. I do not want to feel numb. Happy - I did notice Mel's reference to the C-word. She is wishing a white one on me. I can do without you know. As for the English loading up Australia with convicts - many of them came from Ireland. And they were transported for such minor offences as stealing a piece of bread or casting aspertions on the local lords wife or something equally silly. The British were determined to 'tame' Ireland. They still haven't managed that yet. We have heavy rainfalls during the summer. It's tropical weather, however this is unseasonal because it is early spring. All up we have had over 300mm of rain in Brisbane - that is 1 foot of water. All our dams are now full - from 17% to over 100% in less than a month. Strangely enough the dams at Toowoomba are still very low and we are pumping water up there rather than sending it over the spillway. This is the first time in over a decade that water has been allowed to escape over the spillway. People flocked to the dams to see the phenomonem (sp??) But please Lord, we have had enough for the time being. The entire normal summer rainfall has fallen in 3 days. Mel - I do hope Jen gets better soon. To have such an extreme reaction is really bad news. Meantime go put a sign on the building stating that anyone with an iq of more than 127 and who has any bright ideas is not allowed in. Then you need another one leaving off the iq. Stupidity abounds. Laura - A quiet day in the office - not to be sneezed at, unless you have nothing to do. Pot roast sandwiches. oooooh yum. Michelle - good for you on taking the advice so nicely given by your worldly sisters. Glad to hear Dop is doing so well. Just think, if you set a slow but steady goal to be at a weight that will take the stress off your back by next fall, you too could be tramping in the woods come next autumn. I rung DS1 yesterday to see how far he had got, but he was just leaving Adelaide. He has a drive of 2550km (rough maths = 1600 miles) I told him about the flooding and he said he would be careful and stay on the high ground. I asked him to ring me last night to tell me where he was. I didn't get a call. He seems to think he will be here today. I wish him luck, but then he is a lot younger than me. I did the 1750km from Mellbourne in 2 days and was wiped out for another two. If he does get in today then he will just have to sit and wait for me to get home because we hadn't organised a place for the keys or the remote for the gate. I feel like I am rambling, so I will remove myself from here and get on with studying my nails or something. Maybe another coffee will help. Have a good day. |
