  • Happy Wicked Wednesday, and I guess in my life it is UN-hump day. lol...trash is out!!

I have been craving cottage cheese lately and have eaten about 2 large cartons in the past 4 days. Weird cause I didn't think I would ever want it again after HAVING to eat is as one of my staples after bariatric surgery.

Chelle...you might have to have several more cups of coffee to stay awake today. Funny when I am this tired as you are now, when I finally get out of bed the first thing I think about is when do I get to sleep next? You be careful going up and down the ladder, you would be surprised what get moved and squashed doing things you don't normally do. You, my friend are a hard one to keep down, but I WILL bring the rolling pin after you.

Happy....the potato cakes might now have been so bad IF you hadn't of put the syrup on them. YIKES!! Watch that blood sugar, I WILL have to come after you with the rolling pin too!! Watching dad's BS is bad enough.

MELLIE...put the fan in front of the heater duct in the house and pretend it is balmy outside. lol. That's it, our commune will be in a year round warm climate, with in ground pool.

Shad...isn't it nice to know at least you have trained one DS how to do housework and it stuck? Maybe he could do the loo's today. lol Maybe I could just shut the closet door and nail it shut to be done with it.

Nurse Laura...waiting on the review of Life as we Know It. That is one I think I might want to see. I think the redecor project is just to keep us off track on the office closing. Who really knows. Could you take Hella for a walk too?

Hey Ceejay, hope your day is going well.

Back to the seminar...thank God it is in the hotel connected to our building. I am loving that part of it.

    Later my chickie friends,

    Love and hugs,
  • Good Morning Ladies.

Shad - Sorry ds2's luggage didn't make it. Hope the courier got it to him safe and sound. Mmm, the food sounds tasty. Hehe, giving Mick the pink doc just for the reaction! You devil.

Mel - I have a feeling the hearts get smaller the higher up the bank management chain you go, but it's still an option if this woman continues to hold you off on your attempts at getting that money back.

Happy - Hmm, haven't eaten potato pancakes that much, but I seem to recall applesauce being the accompaniment when I did. And maybe sour cream? I'm sure the syrup had much to do w/ the blood sugar spike!! Not sure what I might have said that put me in the commune's medic role, but that's perfect - I'd be distributing the drugs too, right?

Michelle - Hope you've gotten enough coffee in you to make it through the day. LOL re that jelly doughnut comparison your PT makes. Kinda makes me want a donut though... Be careful getting up on the ladder!!!

Annie - You know, the movie Life as We Know It was "just okay" for me, but there were some cute moments with the baby, and even teary moments. I guess I was just wishing Katherine Heigl would actually have a different role than her usual, but no. And I was disappointed that Josh Duhamel went through the movie looking like he needed a shower and haircut - but it was part of his character...

    Hi Ceejay!

Nothing much to report - already mentioned the movie last night. Before that, I returned the mittens I'd ordered - one size did not fit all, even though it was just me I wanted them to fit! The saleswoman said they were getting those mittens at the store (I'd order through the catalog). So she thinks I'm going to come in and scrounge through them in hopes that there's a pair that'll fit me?? Uh, no, that just makes me doubt the quality of their manufacturing if the sizes on a one size fits all mitten could vary that much.

I have lunch w/ a friend today and nothing else, including no meetings! Tonight I'll do a dog walk and a BE workout. My left knee is still bugging me, so no squats or lunges!!

    TTFN!
  • Laura...maybe I will wait till it comes out on dvd release and rent it at a redbox for a buck. Hey you get more exercise than I do just walking your dog.

I feel like a big fat mess right now. I just cannot get down back into the 150s, and feel like a cow at 165, my cute jeans don't fit and my belly sticks out. I just keep beating myself up over it, afraid I will gain even more weight back, but seem to only get a grip the healthy eating mode like 3 to 5 days in a row then it is a free for all. Someone come save me from myself. PLEASE. Dude WTF is wrong with my brain?
  • Just popping in to say hello.------2.5 hours until v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n, yipee.

Getting very excited about vacation time. However, I will not be leaving for Springfield, MO until Monday. My sister works Saturday and Sunday. I need some time to myself.

I gave in and stopped at MCD's last night for an Angus burger and fries. It weighed heavy on my stomach. Ugh
Completed only 15 minutes of cardio due to this. But I did walk in Walmart for nearly 10 minutes before I stopped at MCD's . Yes just pushed my buggie. Didn't stop to look until after the 10 minutes was up.

    Time to post.
  • Ceejay - does that mean you went to Walmart and just pushed a trolley for 10 minutes?? Didn't put anything in it?? No shopping??? What will power, what fortitude. What sort of looks did you get when you put the trolley back and left emptyhanded?? Love it.
The 2.5 hours must be nearly up judging by the time of your post. Have a wonderful holiday.

Happy - Potato pancakes! Yum, although I am not sure of the syrup on top. What sort of syrup was it?
As for making the coffee at home - well it just so happens there is a BRU bar downstairs in the courtyard. Real stuff - although since the girls took it over it is not as good as when the young guy had it. The stuff supplied at work is pretty ordinary instant stuff. There are occasions when I bring my ground beans into work along with a one cup plunger and voila, coffee made by and with Joy. As you know, I like my coffee with kick.

Michelle - can understand why you don't want to get out of bed. Work and early hours can take it out of you I know. Good that the proper tranny has arrived and will be installed and working come the weekend.

Annie - hands and knees and in and out of the racks in the server room. Man, that brings back memories of when I was working for a trucking company. Head office put in computers and the truckies went ape. We just want to be truck drivers. So yours truly was the only one in the complex who knew anything much about computers and computing and could pronounce login. Got the system admin job just because of that. Anything that went wrong was my job. When it got fixed and the kudos and congrats were being given out, it wasn't me at the front of the queue!

Laura - I think it was the CPR class that did it - got you voted in as commune medic I mean. I enjoyed those classes. Those dummies we had to work on were hilarious. I remember one session - I had dummy H - H for Harry. The man next to me had G - George. In the middle of the 15 compressions, the man's mobile phone rang. The idiot answered it. I have no idea who was the bigger dummy of the two.
And yes the look on Micks face was priceless. I should sell that pink doco to the highest bidder and donate the money to the breast cancer foundation. Wonder if there are any places around with a strictly female population of maintainers.

Last nights dinner was the last of the pumpkin (this time roasted with morroccan spices) and jazzed up cous cous, with a napolitano sauce. Cous cous is something the boys don't like eating since it is pretty tasteless, however I improved it somewhat with chicken salt (which doesn't by the way contain chicken anything) citrus peel and juice, roasted red peppers, slivered almonds and toasted pumpkin seeds. I was going to put dried fruit in there as well, but it tasted pretty good without it. They ate it without a murmur so it must have been okay. DS2 has announced he does not want to see junk food for at least another five years since he lived on it in Perth. Well hallelujah. We'll see how long that lasts.
Barbeque on Sunday - so far I think there are about 10 turning up - still more to reply. Lets hope it doesn't rain. I'll think about a menu in the next couple of hours or so and start shopping tonight or tomorrow.

Meantime, I'd better go do what I am paid to do - little as it may be.
  • OMG I am so freaked out. Just got home from CVS. So this guy who has been wanting to go out with me that I keep saying no to because he smokes, stops in tonight and says, what time do you get off work? Come have a beer with me. I say, no you smoke, did you quit smoking? Well of course not, so he says I will be waiting outside for you to follow me to have a beer. So I say ok. But what I did was, when he turned at the light to go to the bar, I blew through the light, straight, and raced home into my garage. He will be pissed, cause he smelled of alcohol anyway. The bright side is I don't work at CVS till next week on Wednesday. Hopefully he won't be back. I am so freaked out. and to think, I actually feel badly for blowing him off at the stoplight. YIKES, I am weird.
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MADCAT

DS2'S COMMENT CRACKED ME UP...COULD IT BE HE IS GETTING OLDER AND JUNK FOOD DOESN'T APPEAL TO THE TUMMY ANY LONGER?? HAVE A GREAT BBQ...WISH WE WERE THERE!

GOOD MORNING CHICKS OF THE WORLD.
BEEN UP SINCE 6. NIGHTMARES ALL NIGHT. MUST BE THE SINUS DRUGS. I AM PRAYING THERE IS NO MEETING TONITE. WAITING FOR A CALL BACK. I AM TRULY STUFFED UP. I HAVE NOTHING PLANNED FOR TODAY AND THAT'S OK BY ME. MAYBE I'LL MAKE ANOTHER MENU PLAN FOR NEXT MONTH AND THE SHOPPING LIST TO OG WITH IT.
    SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN
  • LAURA...JEN AND I WERE LAUGHING (more like smirking) AT THE WOMAN IN THE STORE AND THE MITTENS. BUT IT'S SO TRUE OF THE WAY THINGS ARE DONE & MADE NOW!! SOMETIME I HOLD UP ONE TOP AND COMPARE IT TO ANOTHER IN THE SAME SIZE...JUST TO SEE IF I CAN FIND A BIGGER ONE!! lrofl:
  • Me eyes are burning, and I am tired. Played H*LL getting outof bed this morning. Didn't get into work til 8:30 am. Just an hour late. Who freakin cares, not me this morning. Payday tomorrow, it can't get here quick enough, got bills to pay. Really need to hit the lottery, big time. I am just babbling cause I am so tired.

Mellie...I think most things at Trader Joes is overpriced, but dang I do love that place. This coming from a woman who shops at Aldi's. LOL

    Hello to all ya'll...

    Have a Great Thursday/Friday....TGI TH & F, fo sho.
  • Annie
I'm proud of you in ditching that guy. He was rude. I'm ready for pay day myself tomorrow.

    Shad
A son that cleans, wow. You have taught him right.

    Happy
The potato pancakes sounds good. I don't eat pancakes that often mainly because of the spike in the blood sugar.

    Mel
You sound in a chipper mood. Hope some of it rubs off on me.

    Michelle
    Has work slowed down any?

    Laura
Do you have a book club meeting this week end?

Speaking of sugar my neighbor brought over dough nuts while ago. I only took three and they were yummy. I'd hate to see what my blood sugar levels would read.

Spoke to my sister on the phone last night. She's getting things planned for next week. I think she's more excited than I am. and I'm excited. To top this off I had an incoming call while talking to her but didn't answer it. I returned the call after I got home. It was my co-worker who is taking my place next week. She's alway's got this excuse that some one in her family is sick, dying or in the hospital. Supposedly her mil is in the hospital. And I'm stupid enough that I'll say yes to those type of excuses. I told her NO last night and told her I was going out of town on Saturday. I was expecting a phone call from the boss this morning. She ranted on and on about her job. I wish she would quit.

I'm going back to Verizon in a bit to have them check the internet card that I got a couple of weeks ago. It didn't down load properly. Then's it's back home to get things ready for my trip. I may leave tomorrow.

I need to retrack my walking bit in Walmart. Yes I walked for ten minutes but then afterwards I went shopping.
  • Howdy chicks,

Well I'm not sure about this on plan in October theme of the month. I have been going to bed early for the last several weeks to try and get 6 and a half to 7 hours of sleep instead of the 5 or so I was running on. I keep waking up around 4 or 5 am and can't get back to sleep. Not awake enough to get up but not getting a deep sleep either. So I don't feel as rested as I should. And it's not that I'm waking up for potty stops either - I just wake up.

I have noticed no difference in my fasting blood sugar in the morning after cutting way back on sugar this week.

I also thought the sugar might have been making me feel achey but no difference in that either.

So I'm not doing any more Worldly Theme of the Months

Annie - how scary about the stalker dude. I certainly hope someone will be kind enough to make sure you get home ok for a while. He sounds mega creepy. *shudder*. Walk out of CVS with a baseball bat and don't be afraid to use it. I guess if you shopped at Aldi's you would be scared of Trader Joe's prices. I am a sucker for a good grocery store - the bigger the better When I die I'm going to haunt one of those mega stores like they have in Dallas.

Ceejay - yay for not caving into the co-workers whining and changing your vacation plans. Boo on her - sounds like everyone is anticipating a good time and you deserve it. Have fun!

Well I cannot even remember the last time I had potato pancakes - sometime in the 90's I think so I never thought about the potatoes themselves spiking the sugar. Add a drizzle (not a lot) of Log Cabin Maple Syrup and while it didn't go above 106, it did shoot up about 10 points. Done with that one.

Mel - I hate banks. Did I say that before. Shame on them for taking what few pennies you have. Miserable I'm glad Willie is still looking out for you. He will have to take you on a special ride to see the tree colors.

Laura - that's pretty bad when one size fits all mittens don't. I mean they are mittens!!!!! Some of those tiny stretchy gloves look like they'd fit a 3 year old. And when they stretch that much, they don't keep your hands warm. That was the hardest part - keeping the hands warm.

And for those of you planning to winter with me - bear in mind you better come now because I am making plans to get out of here and we are going to a place that everyone says - are you NUTS - it's frigid up that way!!!!! So while it might not be as cold as a Wyoming or Montana winter, it will be cold. Anything to get out of here. A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shad - I have one of those French coffee presses too but it never seems to make as good a cup of coffee as the regular brew pot. I use mine for tea now.

Oh oh - it's Thursday and we haven't heard from Michelle- do you think she's face first on her keyboard sleeping???? Someone go poke her.

Gotta get back to work now. Later chicks.
  • Happy...you bring the french coffee press and Shad can be in charge of the brewing. I am sure if Shad brews it we will ALL stay awake are our jobs. I am having trouble today staying awake. I fell asleep in the break room, my head bobbed back and woke me up. I have found a yummy delite for me and I don't even like soda but I have been freezing Coke Zero in the breakroom fridge and having it as an afternoon snack. Tastes good.

NO NEGATIVE NELLIE IN NOVEMBER FOR THE WORLDLIES

    Come on 4 o'clock....
  • I'm here...and exhausted. I've been literally running (or at least walking fast) ALL OVER the building trying to track down VPs and Senior VPs to have them approve two reports I created that we are trying to get implemented before the 10/29 deadline. Because we do most of our business between Nov. 1 and Jan. 1, we have a "law" that no new applications, reports or anything is implemented during November and December unless God and all his disciples approve it. Needless to say, that means EVERYONE is running around trying to get approvals...and the people who need to approve/sign off on stuff are ALWAYS in meetings. So you literally have to stalk these execs. So I've got all the signatures I need.

I've got an all day training class tomorrow...so I can't work from home. But it's a good class...so I'm looking forward to it.

    Love and hugs to all,
  • Hey everybody! Busy day today, but I'm not getting much accomplished!

Shad - Mmm, the couscous sounds good w/ the citrus. I agree it's boring unless you zip it up w/ seasonings. I'm going to try cooking it with some orange juice next time. Oh I forgot about the cpr class - yep, I've got my card that's good for two years, even though I'll go through training again next year. LOL about the guy taking a call during compressions. Be thankful you never had to rely on his emergency skills.

Ceejay - Enjoy your vacation. Yay for you not changing your plans because your fill-in supposedly had an issue. It's your boss's problem, not yours. Nope, no book club this weekend. The next meeting date hasn't even been determined yet. I'm on my own reading a combination of detective fiction, trashy romance novels, the latest Carl Hiaasen, and now I've reserved the 2nd in the Stieg Larsson trilogy (The Girl Who Played with Fire) and also a book titled "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave. I bet you're sorry you asked, lol. Yum, doughnuts.

Annie - Glad you ditched the pushy smoker. I hope he's gotten the message and won't be a jerk. Sorry you're tired today - hope you get a good night's rest tonight. I think the frozen foods/meals are more expensive at TJ's, but that's also because they never go on sale. Hey, their wine prices are good!

Mel - Sorry about the nightmares!! Hope you don't have a meeting and you can go to bed early tonight and have sweet dreams instead!

Happy - I'm not sure what happened to my plan, but it's sure hasn't been on for me. (Funny how I say that as if I had no control over it.)

    Michelle - WAKE UP!!!

Nothing exciting last night - just a dog walk. No BE workout. Just didn't feel like it, and the knee was still sore. Today, less so. Maybe tomorrow I'll haul the gym gear downtown and get in a cardio workout.

Lunch w/ friends yesterday and today was really nice. In a few minutes there's another fundraising function - a talent show, lol. Nothing going on tonight, and I'll see about doing a BE workout. I've been such a sloth lately!
