1) Daily posting - Day 3 complete. 3/3 pauses
2) No fried foods - Day 2. 2/3 pauses
3) No soda - Day 2. 2/3 pauses
4) No real chips or any chips with dip - Day 3. 3/3 pauses
5) Eat 5 servings of fruits/vegetables a day - Day 3. 3/3 pauses
6) Follow exercise plan - Day 3. 3/3 pauses

Despite the pause, I am going to keep going. Struggling to get moving in the right direction again. Don't think the restart would be what I want mentally right now.

So. Gotta run, but have a good day all, and welcome to all the new and returning peeps

Hey Jolly! Remember me from our old thread a long time ago with Red? Nice to see you here. I'm starting back again after some time. Things have not gone well since the beginning of this year, but I am at least trying again. Illness and injury changed things for me. I'm learning how to cope and a whole different way to eat due to diverticulosis.
But, dancing is something I can do for now and I can change my eating.
Today is Day 3 and I plan to dance again!!! Not quite yet, but I will only post back here if something happens and I do not.

SeaWave 11-14-2010 04:38 AM

Nice to see some new faces. :welcome2: augeremt and (welcome back) derrydaughter!

Red - you were holding the thread alone for a while there, and now you're missing in action. Hope everything is ok!

Jolly - I'm struggling too at the moment. Let's struggle together!

1. Keep sodium between 500 and 1500 mg per day - Day 0 (0/0) - Still not wroking, and not giving myself any passes on this one because it affects me so much!
2. Declutter 15 minutes per day - Day 4 (3/3)
3. Eating clean - Day 3 (3/3)

Have a great day everyone!

derrydaughter 11-14-2010 10:55 AM

Today is Day 4 and I danced again. My cat is amused at this activity. He lays there and watches me as if I were from outer space. : )

redballoon 11-14-2010 08:14 PM

Things are just really, really bad with me now. I will try to get back when and if life settles down. I am being stretched beyond my limit. :(

augeremt 11-15-2010 02:03 AM

This thread is almost entirely the only reason I stuck with my goal over the weekend. I thought about skipping breakfast on Saturday but didn't want to break my streak, even if it was only 4 days at the time. That's definitely the most days in a row I've eaten breakfast in 7 years (since I moved out of my parents').

So here it is:
1. Eat breakfast - Day 6 (3/3 Left)

And I'm adding a new one:
2. Stick to the exercise plan - Day 0 (1/1 Left)

augeremt 11-15-2010 02:04 AM

redballoon - So sorry to hear things aren't going very well for you. Your idea for a challenge/support group is amazing and I hope everything works out for you sooner rather than later. ::hugs::

augeremt 11-15-2010 03:07 PM

This thread once again got me to eat breakfast even though I just wanted to sleep a bit longer. It's amazing how a little thing like this can keep me motivated.

So...
1. Eat breakfast - Day 7 (3/3 Left)
2. Stick to the exercise plan - Day 0 (1/1 Left)...skipped the run this morning but plan to make it up tonight. Otherwise I'll be starting over.

derrydaughter 11-15-2010 03:16 PM

Today is day 5 and I danced!
Red, I'm sorry things are not going well. Wish there was something we all could do for you.
Augeremt, great job and great enthusiasm!
I didn't feel like dancing today, I was rushing and busy and wasn't really in the mood, but I made myself and I'm glad.
Super sad today. : ( The holidays are getting me down, lost my mom and dad a couple of years ago and this time of year is just brutal.

redballoon 11-15-2010 09:20 PM

Ok, I'm coming back!!! Will write soon.

But for now, the no-smoking challenge continues (just have to figure the count) and then I'm back on CLEAN EATING. Been pigging on sugar again.... :(

redballoon 11-15-2010 09:33 PM

Well, for the record, the second round is over and I'm continuing on with a third round to really make sure the smoking is dead. I haven't been out drinking and that is always a temptation. I know that just when I think I'm invincible I often get shot down and have to crawl my way back to the wagon.... :^:

No smoking -- Round 2 -- COMPLETED!!!! :encore:

No smoking -- Round 3 -- 1 day completed!!!

Apple Blossom 11-16-2010 07:12 PM

I'm just gonna shake it off and start again....
I think I have come up with a new way to combat my beer challenge issues. I am going to count each beer as 200 calories, and I will bank all the calories that add up from beer. I think I will add other unnecessary calories as well, like the *** I ate today. (Another 200 cal) Then, I have to exercise to deplete the bank. And this exercise has to be IN ADDITION to my normal exercise routine. Which right now is just my 45 min boot camp 3 times a week. So If I started yesterday, I have banked 800 calories already, and I burned 300 cals on the elliptical/bike, so I'm at 500 cals. Yikes. And my bank has to be at zero by the end of the challenge, which I believe is Dec 5th. Call it a modified challenge if you will, but thats what I'm doing. I would also like to add an extra 2000 cals for Thanksgiving and my birthday which are coming up. So The bank is at 2500.
I am also going out of town for a few days this week-end, which will be tough to eat well during. I'll have to add cals for unnecessary food I'm sure. And I'll have to try to make it to the exercise room at the hotel.
I also have been keeping track of my running miles all year, thanks to my ipod, and I'd like to finish the year with 300 miles, I need about 60 more miles, so about 10 a week.
So..
Stick to exercise schedule: Day 1 completed, 2 pauses left
Calorie bank: 2,500
Finally, Hi to Derry! I remember you from long ago. You are a quilter, if I recall. I like your challenge, I might have to try it too.
Hi Red, I am very proud of you! You are doing really well with your no smoking challenge!!:congrat:
Hi Jolly, & Sea Wave, and welcome auger and atrey!

redballoon 11-16-2010 07:20 PM

No smoking -- Round 3 -- 2 day completed!!!

Go, Apple!! Welcome back!
:cheer2:

derrydaughter 11-16-2010 08:29 PM

Day 6 and I danced again. It was a long day and I've been doing my dancing at the beginning vs. the end of the day. I almost decided against it, but did it anyway. I'm proud of myself.

redballoon 11-17-2010 03:07 PM

No smoking -- Round 3 -- 3 days completed!!!

derry, I'm proud of you too!! :bravo: I've been enjoying reading of how you've overcome the temptation not to dance and also enjoyed the picture of you dancing! Joy, fun, (even if it means going through the motions before the feeling...like smiling and hoping we'll feel better afterward) we ALL need more of this in our lives. Thank you!! Oh, and Linda, I'm sorry, I didn't see what you'd written the other day about feeling blue. I am sorry I wasn't there to comment. I know the feeling very, very well. Chin up, girl! Feel the feeling and push on!
