Is there any better song to drop kick you out of bed and get you moving than Walking on Sunshine? Great treadmill song too. I also like Good Morning Starshine from Hair. Just in case you're taking notes Mel :s:
Happy Monday. Already. Can yah believe it? Where did the weekend go? Our hundred degree temps are supposed to break this week. We might even see upper 80's one day - everyone will be out enjoying the refreshing breezes. Mel - that's quite alot of tokens to sell. Better the smell of fresh laundry than old people's pee. Ugh we need a smilie holding it's nose :D I hope you get a nap in today - take some time for me too, will you? Please and thanks. Wishing you a short and quiet day at the office. Laura - has your book club got "The Help" on it's list? The optician was telling me about it and I ordered it from Amazon as it is really backlisted here at the library. Guess it's the on fire book of the summer. Sounds like quite a spread you had. We used to have too much food too so we finally agreed that just the hostess would provide soft drinks/tea and a light snack like cheese and grapes. It worked better that way we all thought. That's how I learned about Laughing Cow Cheese. I had to laugh at your remark about too much chit chat / not alot of book discussion. When our leader moved we had fewer people who actually read the book and there was alot of Mom discussion too. I was about to leave when it finally fizzled out. I would think you could find a group through the library or something. Shad - welcome back home. Hope all creatures behave - furry and otherwise. Sounds like the office is nice - minus the bird poop of course. Michelle - it sounds from FB that you didn't get near the funnin' in that you planned and here we are at the work week again. :( Such is the circle of life - or is that the 9 circles of ****???? So what kind of work did you do on your day off Annie? Hi to Ceejay - call the a/c guy today. I gotta get flying myself - have a good one. |
Loved the song Mellie...what a great way to start out a Monday morning. Yes, I am walking on sunshine...I will be positive, I will have no negative thoughts to crowd my tortured mind. THank you for starting us off right.
Shaddie....THat is a hilarious story about them moving and not telling you where they went...don't they know nothing gets past our Shad? Kind of reminds me of the story where the husband goes out to buy cigarettes and doesn't come back and never heard of agian. LOL.... Laura....Sounds like the book club is no longer a book club, but a bring your information for discussion about any topic, we shall chat about it.... Happy...my day off Saturday...geez I have to think about it. I ran the vacuum, unloaded the dishwasher, laundry, cut grass Friday night. Baby boy FINALLY showed up abotu 7:30 pm with his GF, which by the way is very cute and has a cute personality, talkative and funny. Just worry about baby boy's heart, not sure of her quite yet. BBoy took us to dinner at Red Lobster, by the time we got back from there it was 10:30 and we all crashed. Chelle....How are you feeling, my fine friend? The back, is it this week you get the opionion and 2nd opinion, Wednesday? or did I miss that last week? Sorry I have been in a major fog lately. How is hubby? Ceejay...tell the landlord you want a new AC before you expire from heat exhaustion in that house. Yesterday was one busy day. BB his GF and I were up and at dad's by 8:45 am. Took him to breakfast at Papa's Pancake House. It is a little whole in the wall joint but the best freakin pancakes in the world. I am not kidding. If any of you make it to Indy, beside calling me, you or we shall have to visit Papa's. It is the flour they make it with, they add some kind of other special flour type ingredient, the very best. Dropped dad back at home about 10:00 am, drove home, puked cause the syrup was a little rich for my belly, then was at work at CVS by 11:00 am. Had a major panic attack at CVS, one of the worst ones I have experienced in a very long time. Worked till 7pm, came home and baby boy stopped back by before heading back home. How nice and what a surprise. My car is supposed to be done today. The repair place says they have not yet received the supplement check from the other insurance and therefore will not release my car until they do. I got on the horn Friday and supposedly the inusrance overnighted another check to them. We will see. Gotta get busy, hello to all, have a marvelous Monday. Love and Hugs, |
Hi ladies -
Hope you all had a great weekend. Monday got here WAY too quickly for me. Didn't do much this weekend...a little website work, grocery shopping, cooking make-ahead meals, and lots of relaxing. My back is feeling a bit better. I almost wish I hadn't scheduled the two doc appts for Wednesday...but it will be nice to get a second opinion. Also, I haven't really DONE anything...so I'll see how my back holds up today at work and with walking on my lunch hour. I want to get opinions from the doctors as to the next steps in treatment, what's causing the numbness/tingling and how much exercising I can do. I know that losing weight and tightening my core will put less pressure on my back...just wish I could snap my fingers and get there. The weather here is just perfect finally...the humidity is gone, and temps in the low to mid 80s, and cooling down to 60 or so at night. Perfect sleeping weather! It was wonderful to turn off the A/C, open the windows and enjoy the fresh air. We didn't get any fishing in this weekend....too hot/humid on Saturday and too windy on Sunday. We'll go next weekend, or after work this week. I'm tired of feeling limited in what I can do. I've got a b'day coming up next month...and even though I don't feel like I'm getting older (except for my back), I'm conscious of my chronological age going up. Of course, it didn't help that in the Twilight movies which I watched again this weekend, the main character Bella worries about getting older than her eternally 17 year old vampire boyfriend. Probably also because I'm feeling stuck...not moving forward. Where I'm stuck at isn't bad and I'm not unhappy or anything...but like, in terms of career....I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. And in terms of finances, the progress we're making is very, very slow. See what happens when I'm not busy enough on the weekend? I get way too introspective!  Enough grumbling. I'm very grateful for all that I have! My life is really, really good. :D DH got most of the truck stuff fixed. He still has to change the gear oil in the tranny...but at least he was able to replace the $20 part that caused the truck to pop out of gear. He's so handy to have around...plus he's cute! I think I'll keep him! Laura - Everything in my yard needs weeding. I was putting the dogs out at around 1:30 am, and noticed all these tall weeds around the base of a tree. I hadn't noticed them in the afternoon...but by the look/height of them, they've been there awhile. I wonder if I should just wait until the first frost kills all the weeds. Like you, we have great neighbors all around. But I'm sure they wish we wouldn't let our lawn get as long as it does, etc. As for your BP, 138 over 86 is a little high...but not horrible, and it probably is from the sodium/processed foods. Also, when you're in pain, that increases your BP. I love the grape jelly/chili sauce meatballs! The first time I heard the recipe...I was like "grape jelly on meatballs"?? :dunno: But they ARE delish! Sounds like all the other food and drink was super yummy too! They had an interesting article in our Sunday paper's travel section about touring the Chicago neighborhoods (as opposed to doing the touristy places - Navy Pier, Michigan Ave, Millenium Park). Definitely something DH and I will try out one of these times down there. I got a chuckle out of the Steve Dahl podcast! Since I lived in CA at the time, I don't know much about him...but we did hear about the Disco Demolition out there. Bummer that your book club is more interested in chatting about kids than discussing the books. Your neighbor's daughter's puppy sounds adorable. Glad it got along okay with your doggie. Mel - You were keeping my hours over the weekend. I'm up at 4:30/4:45 during the week. Of course, on the weekends, I try and sleep in until 7. Sorry that you had a lot of people knocking on your door to get laundry tokens, but I guess it's better than the smell of urine and other bodily odors. That sucks that Richie's take home pay was so little! That's insane. Glad to hear you still like your jammies and are getting compliments on them. Hope you got a chance to rest your eyes over the weekend. I hope the big boss feels better soon. Back pain sucks. I haven't tried oxycontin and don't really want to. I don't need any meds to make me silly. I'm hoping the docs tell me there's some miracle treatment that doesn't involve drugs or surgery. I loved your froggy morning graphic!! That's how I felt today. Enjoy your rainy, nappy day. BTW, I love the "Walkin' on Sunshine" song!! It's been one of my faves since I first heard it so many years ago. It still makes me happy and feel like dancing! That does it...no more introspection or feeling stuck. I'm Walking on Sunshine! Thank you SO much for putting that song in my head today! Happy - Glad to hear the drama is over at work. Hope it doesn't pick up today where it left off last week. Monday did come too fast for me....but it was a relaxing weekend, which is what I needed. I just could use a little more relaxing. :lol3: My DSIL and her husband and son are in Bristol, TN this week for the Nascar races. DMIL is worried that it might be really hot and muggy there. DH and I told her that it's TN and the summer, of course it will be hot and muggy. That sucks about the ex-neighbors' pool pump, and worse that the house had 4 BR and might become home to a family with screaming brats. Hope the repairman does make it out to the house so you can have peace and quiet again. Thanks for the mention of "The Help". I looked it up on Amazon and it looks really good. I went to my library's website and placed a hold on the book. I like "Good Morning Starshine" too! Gliddy gloop gloopy, Nibby nobby nooby, La la la lo lo. Sabba sibby sabba, Nooby abba dabba, Le le lo lo. dooby ooby walla, dooby abba dabba, Early morning singing song. Shad - I couldn't agree more with you on the grocery shoppers that park their carts (trolleys) so they take up the entire aisle....or let their kids push. :tantrum: I like to get in and out of the store quickly. Enjoy your new office and the view (just look past the pigeon poop). Silly them for thinking they could run and hide and you not find them. I think that will be my new life mantra... "Enjoy the view that is life...just look past the pigeon poop." Ceejay - Hope you had a wonderful time in Paragould. Hopefully your A/C will last at least until the end of summer, so that you don't have to bake in the Arkansas heat while you wait for it to be fixed/replaced. Annie - Glad to hear you had a nice evening with your DS and you like the GF. You wouldn't be a mom if you didn't worry about your son's heart. Yup, it's this week Wednesday that I see my neurosurgeon and a second neurosurgeon right after. I'm getting my list of questions ready. DH is doing okay. Thanks for asking. BTW, my DH loves pancakes. So far the best pancakes he's ever had were in Kearney, Nebraska when we were moving out here. But we think that place got leveled by a tornado a few years ago. Sorry to hear about your panic attack. Hope you're doing better now. I'm going to go stretch my legs and get some water before I get back to work. My back is feeling a little stiff. Love and hugs to all, |
Happy – LOL about Howard Stern & Steve Dahl. Strangely, I didn’t care for Dahl years back, but now he’s somewhat innocuous. I’ve listened to his podcasts for a while now, and they’re feeling like the same old thing, so I’m actually wanting to find some podcasts that are more informative and educational. I also download Suze Orman and NPR. I agree about Howard Stern – just hate him! Good that the agent’s gotten complaints and is taking action. So did the departed neighbors say anything interesting?? When I first read your comment about The Help, I thought you wrote “blacklisted” and thought “whoa, is this 2010?”. Glad I just misread that. :lol3: I’ve heard about it and it sounds like a good book. I might reserve it from the library.
Mel – That’s a lot of tokens and laundry! Hope you can have a re-do of your Sunday today. I sure have my share of weekends that I’d like to have do-overs of!! Yeh, if I decide to get serious about book club, I’m sure I could find a new one for myself. You’re right, it was really cute seeing my 85-pound Coal running around with that little 4-pound (maybe) puppy. :) Ceejay – I hope your AC hangs in there until the landlord gets to it, or the nicer fall weather comes along, whichever comes sooner! Annie – Sounds like a nice weekend w/ BB!! Sorry you had the panic attack, especially at work. :( I was wondering about the status of your car…there’s always something when dealing w/ insurance!! Good new quotes! Michelle – Yeh, beautiful weather finally arrived - yesss!! Sorry the weekend just “went”. That happens all too much! I’m sure you’re frustrated by this back pain, and the numbness and tingling. I hope the docs provide some useful guidance to get you back to your usual activities. I hear ya about introspection, especially about one’s career – I still have that book from the library (I Don’t Know What I Want, But I Know It’s Not This), and it’s due tomorrow (need to renew it), but I forced myself to start reading it. We’ll see if it’s enlightening. Re the neighborhood tours (or just DIY exploring), I’d like to see more myself – I like the history part of it. And growing up on the northwest side, of Chicago, I know very little about the south side. I’d like to tour the Pullman area, originally a company town for the manufacturing of Pullman passenger railroad cars. Shad – Must have missed reading about your new view! Ewwww, but I guess you’d start to ignore the pigeon poop after a while. :D Nothing to report since I posted late yesterday. Lovely day today. Yay! The train was late, and it made all stops. Got to the office about a half hour late. And I’m still catching up on e-mails from Friday. Sigh. But the good news is that a lot of my big projects are winding up, so I’m signing up for a training session in early September, as well as a volunteer opportunity being offered through work. Okay, time to post and get back to the e-mail. Have a good day everyone! :sunny: |
So far today....fruit and cottage cheese for breakfast.
veggies and cottage cheese and chicken in a can for lunch with a bag of baked lays. Also some nuts. That should be enough for the entire day. Good news...the car is done, the check came through. Be glad to get my car back. Chelle...Doesn't hurt to get the 1st and 2nd opinion on the back for future reference if not for now. Pretty cool you like your DH, he is cute and handy all rolled up into one hunk. WTG Chelle...lol Don't worry so much about the birthday thing, it is just a number. Laura...They can't really blame you for the train being late....unless they want to.... Later chickies.... |
Laura - I also thought Happy wrote that the book was "blacklisted". Our small town wants to "blacklist" several books and have them removed from the Young Adult section because of their content. It got voted down, but the members of the Library Board that voted against the blacklist/ban have been removed from the board...and replaced with closed minded idiots.
Annie - I'm enjoying the fresh veggies from the garden. Lots of tomatoes...and a few cukes. Glad to hear you get your car back! Vroom! I can't wait to be done for the day. I'm debating about whether or not to go to a workshop with a friend on goal setting and making dreams come true. It's inexpensive...and it will be good to see my friend again. But I'm kinda tired. At least it doesn't run late. It will probably be a last minute decision. |
Happy
I'm with you on Howard Stern and Steve Dahl. Glad the agent was called. Mel Yeah she is singing again. And we have had plenty of sunshine to walk on lately. Annie Glad the bb came for his visit and that you took dad out to breakfast. You had a busy day on Saturday. Laura and Michelle  I did call the land lord and the person who answered the phone said now what! I told her the a.c. was making a noise again and I told her I thought it was the fan blade. This time I didn't turn it off either. I"m not going to suffer like I did before. I really don't care if the thing does burn up. |
Morning all,
I'm another who skim read the post and thought Happy said blacklisted. Seems we all need a communal eyecheck. Happy - I'm glad the agent is trying to do something about the pool pump. I'm big on emptying pools when they are not being used simply for the mossie problem. Even if the pump goes on and on, if the pool is not treated then them thar critturs will get in and breed like mad. Ceejay - If the noise the air con is making is the fan, then the problem is simple enough to fix - it needs balancing. They do go out of alignment particularly when you add the age into the equation. I'd send over the DS2 for you but he is psyching himself up for a job interview on Friday. It's one he really wants. You could always sabotage the thing so you have to have a newer and hopefully quieter model. Mel (and Happy), I did know we were moving. Just that it happened while I was away and I had no access to the building and no idea what floor I was on and no way of getting in touch since phone numbers have been changed (to protect both the innocent and the guilty). I just got to the building and hung about in doorways until I found someone I recognised, then walked into the building behind him. (Don't you think I might make a good stalker??) Selling tokens - hope the act and show are good. Is it a firies strip or something. Oh no just read the rest - laundry, bah humbug. Happy - so why did the neighbour call?? Inquiring minds need to imput the infomation. Who knows I may need to stalk them too. Annie - did you hear the one about my Granny who went for a mile walk every day. She's been doing it for five years and I have absolutely no idea where she is now. Glad to hear that BB showed up (dutifully - see the army is good for something) and that the GF is okay. Pancakes sound good. It is years since I had those. Maybe I should make some. I have some aged Maple syrup that I could use. Hollyhock bought it for me when I met up with her and Madcat in Canada. Still lots of it left. I had to chuck the maple sweets since they turned into rock and could only be sucked and not chewed. I'm not much of a sucker. Sorry to hear about the panic attack. I've never had one, but I am told they are very debilitating. Yea on the car coming back. You'll be back to your old self in no time. Michelle - good to hear that the back is coming right. It's taken long enough. Still it is a good idea to have the thing checked out. Backs are difficult and dangerous if left particularly if something is intrinsically wrong with it. Do not worry about the birthday coming up. There is little we can do about the chronological age and unfortunately the world appears obsessed with youth. However exercise, good nutrition and a healthy attitude go a long way to eternal youth. There are some people who will never be old - and it all to do with attitude to life itself. Some folk are old at 30. Laura - it always annoys me that when we go to meetings or clubs or whatever, social chit chat always intervenes. Guess that is why I am a bit of a loner as far as joining things go - I rarely join unless I have a fair amount of autonomy to do my own thing. If I wanted to know what a 4 year old gets up to, I'd join a mothers club. I hear you on trains and go slow etc. It would have been funny to see the big and little of the dog world playing around. Anyway, I'd better go and get started on the day. I have a report to map out in my head and some e-mails on how the training has been going so far. I need to get those done today. Then a report for the man I am working for which will be a lot blunter than the one to the project manager. See I can be diplomatic when required. I'm off. Catch up later. |
SORRY KIDS....NOT FEELING UP TO PAR TODAY. TAKING SOME CHEST MEDS AND GOING BACK TO BED. SMETHING IN THE AIR IS CONGESTING ME. MAYBE CHECK BACK IN LATER. PUT THE SIGN ON THE DOOR AND TURNED OFF THE PHONE AFTER I LEFT 2 MESSAGES.
HAVE A GREAT DAY! |
Morning kids, I am totally screwed up this morning. Will have to get back on later. It's going to be a "is today over with already" kind of day
Feel better Mel  |
Tuesday it is...all day long on this perfect day of 85 degree temps with NO humidity...yep, No humidity......
Got up, heart racing, probably too much caffeine yesterday, hopefully. Anyway I took an extra anxiety pill and a half of a zanny. Cause sometimes that is how an anxiety attack starts out. Things are calm now. Kind of got the sleepy's now. MELLIE...sorry you are feeling badly. All these weather changes and and crap in the air, it is no wonder you are feeling poorly. Feel better, my sweet sista. Shaddie...I think I saw Granny come through my line at CVS about a month ago. Looking pretty ragged but bought herself a bottle of wine! lol Happy...I have a bright idea for the house next door...all us worldlies could go in together, buy the house, and start our worldlie chick commune. Sound good? We have a variety of talents, I think it could work. I get to cook, bake and clean. Ceejay....when the landlord's office answsered NOW WHAT. You should of answered it is still the FN AC you idiot. Rudeness is not acceptable in life. CHELLE...I just love the fresh veggies from the garden too. THis morning was cottage cheese, tomatos, green peppers and banana peppers. Sea salt and tons of black pepper. I also brought in homemade salsa and chips for the office to enjoy. Good morning Laura, hope your day goes well and the train is not late. Much love and many hugs. |
Happy....cheers, here is to FRIDAY!! Hope your day goes better!
|
Good Morning everyone.
Annie - Hope the day stays calm for you. The veggies sound good. We've got a bunch of peppers - serranos I think, but the tomatoes...hmmm. The cherry tomatoes are a different variety than what I'm accustomed to, but are alright. The large tomatoes aren't ready yet. I'm itching to make some salsa, so I might use the cherry tomatoes for it - they're a bit larger than the typical cherry t's. Or I can just visit the farmers market today. Mel - Sorry you're not feeling up to par. Hope the meds and a good day's rest set you right. Shad - Oh, phone numbers changed too? Well at least they were in the same building! GL to DS w/ the job interview. Ceejay - The woman in the landlord's office certainly was rude! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you because that doesn't inspire confidence in the landlord. :crossed: Michelle - Did you go to the workshop? How was it? Funny how several of us read it as "blacklisted". Not funny that blacklisting still happens. Happy - Hope your day gets better an/or that it goes by quickly! Nothing much to report. Didn't walk at lunch yesterday, I was hungry and focused on eating, lol. No between meal snacks all day was a change for me... In the afternoon I was strolling back to my desk from the copy room and it felt like I pulled a groin muscle. BF and I still took doggy for a walk and I did one BE workout, but I took everything slower and gentler. Today it feels okay. Train was on time today. :) The movie selected (before I even got a chance to vote) is Middle Men, which I've heard NOTHING about. Checked out the internet, and it's a movie about one of the early purveyors of "adult entertainment" on the internet. I like Luke Wilson and Giovanni Ribisi well enough, but I didn't see enough positive information to sway me to go see a movie I'm not very interested in to begin with. So I'm skipping it. Well, I think I'm ready to write the check this week for the in-building fitness facility. I was thinking of inquiring if our benefits department might ante up all or part of the fee in the name of a wellness program...but I think the company isn't yet in the position to open the pocketbook for stuff like this. Things are starting to get a bit better, but it's going to be a long road. Time to skeedaddle. Have a good day everyone!! |
Laura,
I think that the land lord is not used to hearing from me this much in one month. I'd called about getting a tree limb cut last week also. But I'm glad that I was not the only one who thought she was rude. Shad Hadn't thought that the fan blade would have become unbalanced. They must have fixed it as it was more quiet last night. I'm refusing to turn it off again during this heat. Wishing the DS good luck on his interview. Mel Take it easy. Happy The day wil fly by. Hang in there. Had a good but busy work day yesterday. Today is a little more calm. I'm liking the less humidity. Actually got a little chilled during the night. |
Happy Tuesday ladies -
I'm really happy. I just came up with a solution to a problem that's needed to get fixed for awhile. My dear doggie's cataract surgery. I was oblivious to the fact that I could take a loan on my 401K. I know, I know...I shouldn't mess with my retirement. But I'm doing so for three reasons. One, I can pay it back via payroll deductions; two, it's a ridiculously low interest rate - much lower than my current credit cards; and three, as long as I don't quit or get terminated...I can pay it back over time with no penalties (other than the miniscule interest). If I do get terminated...then I have to pay it back right away or incur tax consequences. So I'm taking out a loan for the doggie's surgery, plus extra to pay off (and close out) some credit cards. I feel really good about this decision. I've made the initial exam appt for Doppler for two weeks from tomorrow. If he's a good candidate for the surgery (if they don't feel like his vision is too far gone), hopefully they'll get the surgery done in early September so that DMIL will be here to take care of him during his 3-4 weeks of post op care. Stupid me should've checked on the possibility of a loan before. My poor baby's vision has been getting worse and worse. Oh well, at least we can hopefully get him all fixed up before DMIL leaves on Oct. 6. Mel - Feel better very soon! Happy - Here's to your day getting better! Annie - :crossed: for no panic attack. Those suck. The Worldly Chick commune sounds like an awesome idea!! If you cook, bake and clean, I'll mow the lawn and do the yard work. Ceejay - I can't believe your landlord's office answered the phone that way! How :censored: RUDE! I hope that the quietness means it's all fixed. Laura - I'm growing big tomatoes as well as grape tomatoes (bigger and more oblong than cherry tomatoes). Yummm!! I didn't walk at lunch yesterday either. Not sure if I will today as my back is a little sore and I have a migraine. Glad your sore muscles are feeling better today. Good for you for signing up for your in-building fitness facility!! I'd better get back to it. It's hard to concentrate with this migraine...but hopefully the meds will kick in soon. Love and hugs, |
KEwl Chelle on the Commune idea, I love to garden and do flowers Fresh veggies, birdies and butterflies.....it would be so much fun, too bad we can only dream about it.

Shoe shopping is therapy. How perfect a day can be when we think positively. |
Morning all,
Really is a beautiful day out there and the river is sparkling and the city skyline clear and crisp. No humidity here at the moment. It will come but hopefully not for another month or so. Mel - get better soon. Otherwise I will have to come over and dose you up on some real medicine!! Happy - hope the day improves. Maybe it was too much tequila. Michelle - good thinking 99. Sometimes the only way to go is to consolidate debt and pay it back with only one lot of interest coming out. I keep preaching debt management to my friends but they still insist on using those expensive credit cards and loading it to the max. I keep preaching the theory that one pays oneself out of ones wages before anyone else gets paid. I keep telling them these things when they all tell me how lucky I am not to owe anyone anything. Do they listen??? Not likely Annie - your breakfasts sound yummy. I might have to try something similar. My breakfast today was lo fat yoghurt mixed with dried apricots, yummy strawberries and a snack pack of canned fruit - peaches, mango and banana. It was nice. Lunch is some shredded chicked with tomato, marinated artichoke hearts and some mayo. I also have a first of the season mango to eat as well. Oh bliss. These mangos are very early. We don't normally see them until around October. Usually the first case into the fruit and vege wholesalers market is auctioned for charity. Can fetch up to $25K. It's a good cause and the fruiterers enter into the spirit of the thing. If we get a commune - I think you will be a monty for the cooking and cleaning. You can sure do my share of the cleaning. Cooking I can do. I'll put my hand up for renovations, repairs, and gardening. I'll bring along the DS2 for major stuff like electricals, plumbing and concreting. Ceejay - how rude of the receptionist to answer the phone as she did. Personally, I think you were excedingly polite. She wouldn't have gotten an answer like that from me. Laura - too bad the film didn't appeal. Still there will be others no doubt. Good to see you getting out and about with the doggie and doing your exercise. I'm just getting back into it. I have walked from the riverpath for the last couple of days. I'm hoping to do it for the rest of the week. Then I will be at the gym over the weekend. That's about it for the moment. I'll be back whenever I get the time. |
Happy Wednesday ladies,
My migraine eventually went away yesterday, and allowed me to mow the lawn...which I always enjoy. Then, I did some website work, and downloaded some new tunes to my iPod. I think I slept wrong last night...my back is stiff. I'm leaving work at 1:30 today and looking forward to seeing the two neurosurgeons to get their opinions on the next step for treatments. What I want is to be pain free...or at least very little pain...without surgery and without meds, and be able to Zumba and all the stuff I enjoy. The second shot does seem to have eventually kicked in...and I'm only very rarely experiencing the leg numbness/tingling - not nearly as bad as last week. :) Shad - Your morning sounds lovely with a clear, crisp skyline, sparkling river and no humidity. :) After talking to the 401K company...I only wish I'd done this sooner. They will charge me 3% on my loan, where my credit cards are charging up to 29%. We've stopped using the cards and once we get them paid down...we'll use them only for true emergencies. I'm glad your bringing your reno and repair skills to our commune. I'll check back in later. :) Love and hugs to all, |

Hump day and buy a lottery ticket day for tonight's drawing. If I hit, we are getting that commune, all the chickies will NOT work, and we WILL do everything we enjoy.....We will have all the animals we want, a swimming pool, a bowling alley, a disco dance floor with zumba on the side for Chelle, a ginormous garden and a very well equiped kitchen, and about 15 bathrooms so I can still be a girly girl when I wanna. For Mellie we will have firement drop in from time to time also. Happy can do the naked night swim and feel safe, Laura will get her multimedia room with all the movies she can possibly dream, Shad can rennovate all the rooms to her desire and bring DS to do the hard stuff. Ceejay will be in a well air conditioned environment..noiseless AC, we will laugh, drink margaritas or whatever your choice of beverage might be, play cards, work in the yard/fields, hike, dig for stuffs, PLEASE DEAR GOD, DON'T WAKE ME FROM THIS DREAM!!!
Made a delicious steak last night will post the recipe tomorrow as I left it at home. Along with baked potatos and fresh veggies on the grill. Did a little laundry and talked to a few friends. Chelle...hope the doc appts come up with something good that is not too troublesome to accomplish. Shad...the view sounds marvelous. I think it would be hard to go to work when one could go out and enjoy that setting. MELLIE....Understand about the DD not wanting momma. Samantha's BF little girl never wants to go back to her momma either. Truly, her mother is whacked out. SHe is bi-polar and doesn't always take her meds therefore can be irrational most of the time. Everyone have a wonderfully wild Wednesday!! Much love and many many worldlie hugs.... |
Oh, got so caught up in the dreaming in the last post forgot to tell ya...
My SIL, the one I love to death and has been so great with my dad, has been worried about me and my falling apart that she bought me a book that I have NOT started yet but plan to today... "Finding your Own North Star"...claiming the life you were meant to live written by Martha Beck. Google it and see what you think. |
Good morning to yahs,
Yesterday was just a beastly day all around from start to finish. I didn't feel well either. Went to bed at 9:30 and had a good long sleep. Ready to start afresh. Mel - we are getting a bit cooler weather finally and it is refreshing so I'm blowing you a nice breeze your way. Not too cool but just some ahhh weather. How are the eyes doing? Apparently you are the fill in gal at the office for all things???? I would definitely limit my time - let the boss lady find a substitute - that should be her job. You can "forget" to show up too  Michelle - good luck at the doctors today. Hope they can put their heads together and do you some good. That's a good idea with the 401 loan too - just as long as you don't borrow more money than you could pay off at once if you had to because the tax hit would be about 40 percent  We have outstanding credit and even with that the darn banks have raised rates up in the 20 percent range. I wanted to dump all cards and tell them to kiss it but DH said no. For years now we pay off the balance each month so the interest rates don't really affect us. Still makes me mad with what stunts they pull. I think the don't charge more than you can pay off unless it's a true emergency is the route we all need to take. Shad - sounds like you are in that delightful spring weather where it's so nice and refreshing to be outside. Before the summer heat hits. Although hot we are rounding our way to fall - leaves are starting to fall into the pool. So enjoy things while you can. Sounds like you are back to the clean eating again. Fruit and yoghurt - always a good breakfast :D Is your travelling over with for a while? Annie - I said a long time ago that the way the world is headed, we need to get back to the 1960's commune idea again. DH is handy and I can cook and organize and tell people what to do  You can cook too but I'd have to turn down the heat in order to eat your speecy spicy stuff  Ceejay - isn't the cooler weather refreshing? It's still warm in the afternoon but the mornings are at least night. Hey hold your landlord to the repairs. After all that's what you are paying rent for. Laura - I agree with the others on the fitness facility. I think you will be happy with it unless you like a REALLY SWEATY work out. But even to get a good walk in every day will be beneficial. You can supplement it with the BE workouts. And the price is right ;) I'm surprised your tomatoes are doing so well. It sounds as if it's been and up and down temperature summer with lots of rain. Well maybe that's the kind of weather tomatoes like. As for the neighbor's call - didn't say much just that they had a ton of things to do before they left and didn't get them all done and the hubby was supposed to come back and finish up some things. The pool noise has stopped - because after 2 weeks with our excessive heat enough water has evaporated so that the water level dropped below the skimmer line - so no water flow, no pump. That'll damage the pump something good. And someone must have shown the house and left all the outside lights on as well as some inside lights too. That will be a nice electric bill. Which says to me, don't abandon your house to sell unless you really have no other options! Sounds like you saved yourself the price of a movie ticket by skipping this week's selection. It's nice though that you can pick and choose whether to go or not. Do you guys get together afterwards and discuss the movie like a book club - or is it just an outing type of thing? |
Oops hit enter before I should have said - it's on with the day for me. Have a good one everybody. Happy Hump Day as Annie would say :D
|
Mel - Thank you, my friend! I would love nothing more than to be the Zumba Queen again, and to have my doggie's eye fixed, and be out of debt, and....hmmm what else?! Seriously, I hope ALL of the Worldly Chicks wishes come true!
Annie - I really like your dream!! Happy's DH is handy...and mine can fix computers, cars, just about everything. :) The book looks pretty interesting. I went to my library's website and placed a hold on it. It might be worth a read. You have had a lot of stress in your life...and you're burning the candle at both ends and the middle. Happy - That's great that you and DH can pay off your credit cards each month. Please don't start talking about Autumn. I'm not ready for Autumn, much less winter. Sounds like your neighbor will be in for an electric bill shock, and well as pool pump repair. :yikes: |
<-------IN KEEPING WITH THIS MONTH'S THEME....THESE ARE FOR YOU ANNIE!! I KNOW YOU LIKE THEM "HIGH":belly: I HOPE ALL OUR DREAMS COME TRUE TOO! HERE'S TO YOUR DREAM AND THE COMMUNE:cheers:
SAM'S MOTHER SOUNDS LIKE RICHIE'S EX!!! I WILL GO CHECK OUT THE BOOK IN A MINUTE. HAPPY....HOPE YOUR DAY IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN YESTERDAY'S NIGHTMARE. SENDING YOU CALM THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY AHEAD AND HOPE YOU FEEL MUCH BETTER TODAY TOO! MICHELLE...I THINK WE HAVE SIMILAR WISHES!! I WANT TO ZUMBA, BE DEBT FREE AND HAVE MY EYES "FIXED" TOO!   I CRACK MYSELF UP SOMETIMES :lol3: :lol3: :wizard: I TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING SO FAR USING THE PHONE/RADIO!! :cb: NEVER EVEN LEFT THE HOUSE!! NOW IT'S QUIET HERE...HOPING IT STAYS THAT WAY. :cloud9: |
Oh Mellieeeeee.....I would so where those shoes....I love them....Ok, at the commune, we would have to have a huge shoe closet..I mean ROOM. Ok, Shaddie get to rennovating into a shoe room.
|
:book2: Annie...I googled the book and it sounds good. The review also said it's short. When I read her bio, I remember people telling me about her book about the birth of her baby with Downs Syndrome.
One book that helped me get thru life was a book given to me by a well meaning friend. I had bouts of paralyzing anxiety in of all places...only supermarkets. He was so worried about me he bought the book and hopped in a cab from Manhattan. The book was by Dr Wayne Dyer called "Your Erroneous Zones". It was mainly about me taking charge of me. I have come a LONG way from the mouse I used to be. :mouse: My friend thought that rather than try to "preach" to me, he'd give me a book to show me there is a better life out there. It worked and I have been forever grateful for him starting me on MY JOURNEY! I hope this book of yours brings you much needed Happiness....who knows where it will lead!?!?!? |

SHAD...INCASE YOU NEED A VISUAL...I THINK THIS IS WHAT OUR ANNIE HAD IN MIND :lol3: :lol3: THIS CLOSET IS "Mariah Carey's" SHE SAID: "I have about 1,000 pairs of shoes. But lots are in storage," says the Grammy-winning singer. The glamour girl keeps her designer stilettos, wedges and boots uncluttered and artfully on display in her 12,000-square-foot Manhattan triplex. With the help of renowned N.Y.C. decorator Mario Buatta, Carey designed the gold-leaf and bleached-wood floor in the shoe closet. "Like Louis Vuitton luggage," she says, "it will only look better over time." |
Good morning ladies. Just a quick flyby - there was a pedestrian accident on my train line that messed up everyone's commute. Bf always claims these accidents are suicides, but there are plenty of stupid and/or careless people out there too, so who knows. Anyway, I didn't arrive at the office until about 10:15. So far not a good commuting week. I'll catch up on your posts and be back later today.
|
Oh Mellie...that shoe room is perfect...Shaddie...take notes, that is what I want. I only have about 45 pairs of shoes, so I will have to go shopping to fill it up. LOL I have already read Wayne Dyer's book EZ, back in about 1987 or so...probably should re-read.
Laura...sorry about your commute, dang it the stupid people anyways. |
Another good read is "Who Moved My Cheese" by Spencer Johnson
An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life |
I’m back!
Shad – Sounds like a lovely view you enjoyed. You’re right – there are always more movies, so missing a week or two or three doesn’t bug me at all. Michelle – Glad you found a solution re Doppler’s eye surgery. As long as the loan can be paid without the tax penalty, it’ll be nice to take care of the surgery and pay off the other debt. It’s obviously a great thing to get rid of the credit card debt and stay rid of it! I hope the two doc visits go well and they give you some good options for controlling your back pain and getting you Zumba-ing again. Mel – Love the avatar!! LOL about the commune's shoe room plans! Glad you’re feeling more like yourself today. Don’t get too worn out babysitting the office!! It’s so sad that Richie’s dd doesn’t want to go back to her mom. Bf and I are concerned for bf’s niece. One brief stint at living w/ the dad and stepmom as a teen didn’t work because of the step’s rigid discipline, so she was back w/ the mom. The mom had drug/alcohol problems and the niece ended up essentially being the mom for younger siblings and cousins (because the aunt had the same problems as the mom). Now the niece is a single mom struggling financially, and her dad wants to help her get a leg up, but his b*tchy wife controls everything (including $$) and won’t loan money without significant strings. The dad (bf’s brother that we’ve cut ties with because of trouble the wife created) is too weak and materialistic to demand he have a say in the finances and help his dd. Sigh. Annie – Fingers crossed for your lottery ticket – what a nice dream! I’m willing to contribute in all areas of the commune, and can bake a little bit too, BTW. :D That book looks interesting. I think I’ll get it from the library after I’m done with the one I have now. For someone who doesn't (didn't) care for self-help books, working on book #2 for the year and planning #3 is quite a turaround! Happy – Sorry yesterday was beastly for you. Hope today has been better. Glad the pool noise has stopped – too bad the pump may burn out in due time. I hope the house doesn’t sit vacant for too long!! After the movie, we sometimes stand around and chat in the theater lobby or parking lot, but lately not so much. I’d like to be able to talk more afterwards, but usually I have to get home because it’s getting late for a work night. Hi Ceejay!! Getting a chill is a good change of pace during hot summers! Yesterday afternoon I paid my $75 one-time fee and signed the waiver, so I’m now able to use the new fitness center in the building. I created a list of all the stuff I’ll need and now I’m wondering how I’ll schlep it all to work with me, LOL. I’ll certainly stock a bag with stuff I can keep at work, but the clothes and towels will need to be carried to and from. Heck, if I survived bringing my big fitness ball to Jazzercise classes, I can manage this! Last night I took doggy for a walk. It was our normal length walk because it was overcast and cool for a change! I guess the heat and humidity will pick up again in the next day or two, but it’s been a nice break. I didn’t exercise last night because I was rather sore from Monday’s workout, but I’ll get back to it tonight. I think I’ll pack a bag for a workout tomorrow at the fitness center. Happy, I do like good sweaty workouts, but I can’t imagine finishing a vigorous workout and jumping straight into the show before I even get a chance to stop sweating. I’ve always gone home to shower after my Jazzercise classes or gym workouts and by the time I got there, I’d stopped sweating. I guess I’ll have to build in adequate cool-down time. That’s about it! Ciao for now! |
Hi every one. I'm in a bit of a downer mood. Why I do not know! and the front desk told me they started the cut off list today. It's huge. Hopefully the customers have all paid their bill and have been turned back on.

Morning all,
And yes it is still morning - just. Mel - yes I see the rivercats (ferries) going up and down the river and some pleasurecraft. At the moment there is someone's dream boat (probably more than $1M worth judging by size) parked outside the Drift cafe which juts out over the river. Nice place but a bit rich for the wallet at $39 for a 2 course meal for lunch!!! We've also had the Police boats zapping up and down this morning. Don't know what is going on upstream but since a helicopter joined the fray, I suspect someone is doing something stupid. Why does Richie have to pay the ex when he has the kids for all summer just about.? Michelle - hope the Dr's appointments went well and you get some good information to go forward with. I know what you mean about the interest rate on credit cards. I'm like Happy. Mine gets paid off every month - just to hack the bank off. They tell me I am so good and they would like to up the limit. I say what for??? Do I use it that much? Not bleeding likely. DB2 got himself into yards of trouble doing just that. Annie - Don't wake up from the dream. However you better import some eye candy for those of us who are single. They can be quartered somewhere distant so they don't disturb the harmony in the house. I've got the hint re the shoe room. We will have to section it off for each one of us. My area will be very small. I don't have that many shoes. Trust Mel to come up with the graphical design. Laura - commutes can be a real PIA. I know, I do one every morning. Good to hear that you have joined the gym. When I was going to gym close to work, I brought in one complete change of clothes. The clothes went into a carry bag at the end of gym and I left my shoes in the office - full of foot odour powder - for the week. That way I didn't have to cart shoes around too often, only took them home at weekends. Ceejay - sounds like you are about to get a few grumpy phone calls. No wonder you are on a downer. Happy - hope the day sparks up for you today. Hate those frustrating days at work. Speaking of which I had better get back to it. Nearly got one module completely finished - only 6 more to go. It seems that they want to extend me for another month. Fine by me. I hope they get around to telling me what they want me to do sometime before the end of that time. But at least it gives me time to get on with the doco. Oh yes and Chris (ex Japan) is coming over for a visit at the end of September. Yippee - I need to sort out some places to go and things to do. I think the flower festival is on in Toowoomba in September, but not sure when. See ya |
