Evening all
This will be short since I don't know how this modem is going. I've had it back to the shop every day since I bought it and it appears to blown up the battery on this computer. I have had to take the battery out to allow the computer to work. It's taken an awful lot of swear words to connect to the internet. The system at Kincora is better than that at Yellowbank and about 200% better than Rolleston. However it can be frail at times like today when it decided to kick some of us off the network. Half managed to find the goods in the store and the other half including the trainer didn't. Difficult to teach if you have to talk through the moves instead of demonstrating on the big screen. Michelle - sorry to hear you are still in pain. Annie, beautiful children. Here's a couple of Carnarvon pics. |

And another couple. But it's getting dodgy out here.
By the way I'm learning mud driving. It's really FUN (not) when the car slides all over the road and all you can see is the tree to the left getting closer. Or it's really fun (not) when you start to drive Lake Kincora and hope that the road is still under there somewhere. You might gather it has been piddling down. |
SORRY THIS IS A QUICKIE POST. LOTS OF ALARMS LAST NIGHT AND THIS MORNING. I NEED TO MEET IN THE OFFICE EARLY. A MEDICAL TEAM WAS CRANKY AND REFUSED ME INFORMATION. I REFUSED TO LET THEM IN THE BLDG. Shad - Happy Hump Day ladies -
Last night, we discovered that our cable box/DVR got fried and died during Sunday night's power outage/surge. The cable company is coming out today between noon and 4 to repair/replace it. Luckily, my boss is letting me leave before noon and work from home in the afternoon. :) Yesterday after work, DMIL was REALLY funny. as soon as I got home, I changed into shorts and a t-shirt to mow the lawn. She told me that DH told her to NOT let me mow the lawn under any circumstances. He was worried that all the bouncing on the riding mower would make my back worse. He told her to forcibly hold me down if necessary, which is hysterical since DMIL is probably 4'10" tall and weighs 120 lbs (if that). I told her that I was feeling well enough to mow...and I didn't want DH to have to...plus I really ENJOY riding the mower (and doing donuts on the lawn). I told her that I would face DH's wrath when he got home. She immediately called DH and left a voice mail tattling on me.  Anyway, my back actually felt better after I mowed...I think the movement and a little turning/twisting helped. And DH wasn't that mad. He appreciated not having to mow. We're going to get storms on and off today...though I think the worst ones will hit to the north and south of us (watch out, Laura). This evening, I'm taking DMIL to the salon to get her hair cut. If tonight's Zumba wasn't one of the Super Intense Advanced classes, I'd probably go to Zumba while she's getting her hair done. Maybe I'll get to the gym and try a beginner Zumba Gold class tomorrow night. This weekend, DH wants to go fishing...and I'm looking forward to having a relaxing day on the water - catching a fish or two would be an added bonus. Ceejay - I'm glad to hear that you're obeying the doc. Heat and heavy lifting are definitely things you should be avoided. Glad to hear your nose is feeling better. Isn't it a weird feeling when it's kind of numb for so long 'till the nerves get knitted back together? Happy - Thanks so much for your kind words of wisdom. I think you're right....I think the walking in Chicago put me over the edge. Hope DH gets some answers from all those tests. You're right about the long term effects of meds. And goodness knows I take enough of them for BP and cholesterol, I'd like to be able to cut back or eliminate the pain meds. I'm gonna give a low level Zumba class a try, and also get back to some core exercises. The wet weather has produced a bumper crop of mosquitos...and dragonflies. DH said that the same wet, muggy conditions that promote mosquito breeding, also promote dragonfly breeding. Speaking of mossies, I had bought some natural mosquito repellent made from Catmint oil at the Fair last weekend. I thought it might be phony...but it said 10x better than Cutter brand repellant. And yesterday was the true test...I was out in the yard picking up the dog toys prior to mowing and getting eaten alive by the mosquitos. I went inside got the spray and went back outside to apply it to my legs, arms, face and neck (all the while the mosquitos were swarming around me). Once I had all my parts covered, I didn't get a SINGLE BITE! And mowing our yard really kicks up the mosquitos and makes 'em wanna bite back. But not a bite! And I didn't feel all chemically like when I have Cutter on. I'm sold!! This stuff is excellent! Hopefully we have a clear night on Thursday so that we can see the Perseids. Shad - Thanks for the lovely photos of Carvaron! I can definitely relate to your description mud driving. It sounds very much like snow/ice driving. Not fun at all. You're either slip-sliding all over...or worried about getting STUCK! Had a great laugh about taking a lot of swear words to connect to the Internet. That IS the mantra of IT. And in my case, it has taken a never-ending stream of swear words to get the two beastly projects I've been working on even close to done. Mel - Sorry to hear about all the alarms, and the cranky medical team! If they would have cooperated they could've gotten to the pateient faster. Glad to hear the cops stuck up for you and said you did the right thing. Laura - How was the meeting and dinner afterwards? I hope it wasn't too dull or too late a night. Annie - Hope you have a great day!! Did you brown bag any more yummy garden veggies? I'd better get some work done. Love and hugs, |
Howdy All......
Spent yesterday in Casey, Illinois attending the funeral of my dear friend Tami's mother. Her momma and my momma took a turn for the worse about the same time. I felt so badly for her. We just hugged and hugged and hugged and cried and cried and cried. So sad. So when you eat fresh corns on the cob...you poo corns. WOWSER!! Baby boy should be home this weekend, he had better be as I have not seen him since he got home from bootcamp, the little turd. Dad is doing well, we no longer have to stay the night, just check on him daily which we are taking turns at doing. It is much more easy to do that. Shaddie....be sure to wear boots in case you get stuck in the mud and have to walk. My son would love to be with you for that, he goes 4 wheelin muddin on purpose. Chelle...so sorry the shot is not working as well as it should. Definitely get a second opinion and get it taken care of. I don't think chiropractic tactics do anything for nerve stuff. MELLIE...good for you for sticking to your guns and getting the proper ID. You never know these days who is for real or gonna kill ya. Happy...Hope all is good in your corner of the world. Laura...can't wait to get my hands on the new niece, she is so tiny. Not much else going on. Hello to all Love and hugs, |
Annie - So nice of you to be there to support your friend Tami. You are a good friend, but then we all knew that already! As for corn...with me it doesn't matter if it's canned, frozen or on the cob...same end (pardon the pun) result. Just the on the cob tastes so much better. I'm so very happy for you that you'll get to see your son this weekend! As for chiropractic...if it comes down to between that and surgery...I'd give it a try. But only as a last, or next to last resort. The reports I've read on it's effectiveness for my back problems aren't that promising.

Morning.
Shad - Thanks for the photos - looks lovely. But then I don't see mud in the photos, LOL. Sounds like a scary driving situation! Sorry about the system and internet connection problems - and the blown laptop battery! Swearing and technology go hand in hand, that's for sure!! Michelle - Good you made the doc appointments and not too far off! I agree you should get some movement in - but very gentle! I haven't done any exercise since last week and I feel like I need some good stretching. I'm definitely doing something tonight. LOL re MIL's tattling. :D Catmint oil, huh? If it doesn't smell like bug spray and works better, I'm interested! I've complained about the heat, humidity, and cicada noise, but none of those compare to the hassle of the mosquitos! Annie - Another funeral. Very sad. Glad your dad is doing well, and I hope the check-ins are enough. Bet you're looking forward to this weekend and seeing BB. Mel - Aaargh, sorry you had to deal w/ the surly medical folks in the middle of the night. Get those reports done and then take it easy!! Ceejay - Glad your nose is starting to work properly again! Sniff sniff. Happy - No issues with fleas, thankfully. We do, however, need to apply doggy's monthly dose of Frontline. I think bf has been holding off because doggy's fur is still so nice and shiny from his bath last month... Yesterday was mixed. We had a 2 pm meeting that left me in a crummy mood - it was a waste of time and I was majorly po'd. The 3 pm meeting was fine, and dinner was fine too. I had a Caprese salad (tomato/basil/mozz cheese) and shrimp risotto. Three of us left before desserts to catch our 7:30 trains. I caught a cab to the train station, sure I had a fiver in my wallet. Oops, just two singles. I had to charge a $4 cab ride! At least I had the tip in cash, lol. More important, I made the train on time! Bf got in touch w/ his dds yesterday and found out they were NOT going to put him under for his wisdom teeth removal. Remove 4 teeth with just novocaine? :yikes: And he hadn't told me this before, but novocaine doesn't agree with him to begin with, so to have them keep giving him shots of it would not have worked at all. He cancelled the appointment and found another doc to do it next week. I'm still taking this Friday off work though! I've been tired all week - this !@#$% TOM is part of the reason. But I think some movement tonight will do me some good. And our building is having an ice cream social this afternoon, so that should help too. Okay, time to quit rambling and get this posted. |
Hey Laura - Bummer about yesterday's 2 pm meeting, but glad the other meeting and dinner went well. Here's the link to where you can get the Catnip (not catmint - my mistake) bug repellant:
http://www.goodearthsoap.com/squito-...repellent.html |
Michelle - Thanks for posting the link!
|
HAPPY...SENDING LOVE AND HUGS BACK TO YA
MICHELLE...GLAD TO HEAR THE BACK WAS OK AND NO SKEETER BITES AFTER THE CATNIP. HAD A LAUGH AT THE MIL TATTLING:rofl: ANNIE...HOPE YOU SEE THE BB AND GIVE HIM A SMACK!! :lol3: OLIVIA IS JUST SO ADORABLE AND GAVE ME A SMILE THIS MORNING. :D GLAD DAD IS OK AND I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FRIEND'S MOTHER'S PASSING SENDING YOU ALL HUGS  LAURA..YIKES ON THE BF'S DDS :yikes  GLAD TO HEAR HE FOUND ANOTHER DENTIST!!! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY OFF TOMORROW AND ENJOY THE WEEKEND. I HEAR YA ON THE CRUMMY MOOD AFTER THE MEETING ( I HAD A SIMILAR DAY) BUT I AM GLAD THE DAY ENDED BETTER EVEN WITH THE CHARGED TAXI RIDE! SHAD....HAVING A HARD TIME PICKING MY DESK TOP FOR THE WEEK. THE PICTURES ARE BEAUTIFUL!! HAS THE CUSSING STOPPED YET??? :cofdate: TAKING TODAY OFF FROM LIFE. MAYBE GO TO THE SUPERMARKET TOMORROW AND GET SOME BLUEBERRIES. NOTHING PLANNED FOR TODAY. JUST REST AND PUTTING AWAY THE LOADS OF LAUNDRY I'VE BEEN DOING. THEY ARE SITTING ON MY CEDAR CHEST ALL NICE AND FOLDED. HAVE A GREAT DAY :moped: |
Good Morning.....Nothing new on this front. 951-100 degrees and humidity. Skin feels like it's melting walking into work. YUCK!!
MELLIE...good for you to take a day off for you. I really don't know why people have to be jerks. The emergency dude should of thanked you for verifying rather than getting huffy. If people would just learn "you get more from sugar than you do vinegar". That is my motto and I am sticking to it. Now I really guess you didn't let him in right away cause he wasn't all that good looking...you know there was no "MELLIE EYE CANDY" lol Chelle..hope the back is feeling better and you can get to exercising. I would get a second opinion too, if I were you. Sometimes one docs guesstimate is not as good as the next doc's guesstimate. I say guesstimate cause sometime that is all it is.....a big guess. Thank you for the nice friendship comp., I appreciate that. Shaddie...what's hanging in the outback? I have always loved that saying, "Outback". Like my outback could use a little less cottage cheese on it. LOL Laura...the caprese salad sounds wonderful. All the great things I like. I am a fool for salads. I just love salads. Great choice too, I am proud of you!! Baby boy informed me he is bringing his new GF with him this weekend. I really don't want to share him, but I guess I have no choice in the matter if I want to see him. Her name is Bailey. From the picture, she looks pretty cute. I will let you know if she meets my standards, probably not, cause there is no one good enough for my babies. Will check back later....hello to all..... Loves and Hugs |
Happy Thursday ladies -
I really can't wait for the weekend! I've got lots of work to get done today, so I'll have to keep this short and sweet (like me) Laura - Can't believe the dds would remove ALL 4 wisdom teeth with just novacaine. Glad to hear your BF got a new appt with a different dds. Hope your workday goes quickly and your long weekend is fun and relaxing. Mel - Enjoy your relaxing day off. Annie - It's gonna be a hot one here too...with both a heat and an air advisory...which is unusual for here. I've got way too much stuff in my "outback", girlfriend! So your BB has a new GF...I hope she's good enough for him! A big  and  to all! Love, |

Got this off another thread, I thought is was hilarious.
Dear wife, I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you forever. I've been a good man to you for 7 years & I have nothing to show for it. These last 2 weeks have been ****. Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today & that was the last straw. Last week, you came home & didn't even notice I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal & even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in 2 minutes, & went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell me you love me anymore; you don't want sex or anything that connects us as husband & wife. Either you're cheating on me or you don't love me anymore; whatever the case, I'm gone. Your EX-Husband P.S. don't try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life! --- Dear Ex-Husband, Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It's true you & I have been married for 7 years, although a good man is a far cry from what you've been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining & griping. Too bad that doesn't work. I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the 1st thing that came to mind was 'You look just like a right tit!' Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can't say something nice, I didn't comment. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork 7 years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the £49.99 price tag was still on them, and I prayed it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed £50 from me that morning. After all of this, I still loved you & felt we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for 10 million pounds, I quit my job & bought us 2 tickets to Jamaica But when I got home you were gone. Everything happens for a reason, I guess. I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won't get a penny from me. So take care. Signed, Your EX-Wife, Rich As ****, Freeeee! P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. I hope that's not a problem for you! |
Annie - As for the fattening gross stuff....the WI State Fair did have the Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger (where the bun is replaced with Krispy Kreme donuts). I was not even interested in trying it. Got a great laugh out of the Husband/Wife letters!
|
Happy Thursday everyone!
Mel - Enjoy your day off from life. :) I forgot to mention this, but I think the dds would have also given bf some sort of mild sedative, but bf didn't want anything to do with the novocaine/sedative plan. Annie - Yeh, it's hot as heck here too. There's no shade where I wait for my train, so I thought I might melt before it arrived! And there was no breeze either. I need one of those mini fans that also mist water. Might have to see if CVS sells those! LOL at the husb/wife letters. That food link had some pretty awful stuff, but I confess the soul roll sounded sort of tasty... Michelle - Have a great weekend and stay cool! Hellos to Happy, Ceejay & Shad!! Nothing much to report. I left the budget stuff on the boss's chair before I went home last night. Hopefully it's good to go to the next level. We took the dog for a walk yesterday - a bit earlier than usual because I wanted to avoid the mosquitos. But they still find you if you stop moving! After that I did one of my BE workouts - doggie cooled off on the basement floor while I exercised. Looking forward to my day off work, but I have to prep for the book club I'm hosting on Saturday evening. Aside from house cleaning, I need to figure out my snack (everyone brings something), and the host usually provides some beverages. Aside from wine and soft drinks, what other liquor do you ladies think might be good to have on hand? We're a beer and wine household, so we don't have much else sitting around. In fact, all that comes to mind is a bottle of pineapple rum sitting in the fridge. I thought to make it easy on myself, I'd just get a bottle of vodka and have some mixers - orange and pineapple juices and maybe some lemonade. Other women have had flavored vodkas (hated the vanilla vodka/vanilla coke combos), buckets of frozen slushy stuff (too sweet), and (rather weak) margaritas. Okay, better get my arse in gear. Have a good day/evening everyone. :) :) :) |
Laura - Enjoy your day off tomorrow, even though you have to clean and prep for the book club. I would suggest also getting cranberry juice to mix with the vodka. So if BF doesn't want novacaine OR sedation...what is it that he wants? Nitrous?
|
Laura....You have to have Jose Cuervo Margarita (tequila already added) on hand. He is my favorite man and everybody loves him. lol I put up plenty of salsa if you want some of that to serve.
Chelle..yeah our state fair has that Krispy Kreme cheeseburger also. It also has FRIED BUTTER....I do not know what the entails, but I'd imagine it is pretty fattening and rich. Sounds yuck to me. Speaking of fattening...I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fat. How fat am I??? I was 164 on the scale to day. Holy SH*T that is 20 lbs more than my lowest from surgery. I am giving myself till this coming Monday then it is better eating and maybe hoola hooping time for me. It makes me depressed that my clothes are getting too tight. I no longer fit in 4s, 6s are ok sorta kinda, and 8s are not as baggy as they used to be. Granted 143/44 is a bit too low and I look sick. I would really like to be at 150. SO ALL YOUSE need to kick my arse and be mean to me, I have got to lose this weight before I go postal. Get what I am saying??? Later my Gaters |
I had a dream last night...see what you think...
I was walking down this dirt road surrounded by trees and greenery, kind of dark. I turned off into the forrest and see this light. I head toward the light and as I get closer the light gets more prominent. I keep walking until I am consumed by the light. The light I am following is going up toward the heavens. When I get closer to the light it is more like the sun. Once I reach the core of the light it burst open like a fireball of light and sucks me in . Then I woke up.....what do you think about that? I sat on the bed for about 10 minutes thinking about it. |
Can this day be over yet?! I've gotten one of my sporadic TOM headaches. This one is in my right ear, but I know it's not an earache/infection because I occasionally feel the more typical pain on the side and back of my skull. Ugh. I'm gonna take some ibuprofen.
My desk is a horrible mess, and since I don't have any fires to put out, I think I'll spend some time straightening it out. It's gotten so bad, I might be able to be ruthless about clearing it. I'm usually so indecisive and wishy-washy about getting rid of desk files (even those I haven't needed to open for a year or two), they just sit there forever. Which is how my desk has gotten to be such a mess.... Michelle - I'd forgotten cranberry juice - definitely need that. And someone else mentioned grapefruit juice too. Usually I find that too bitter, but with something sweet, it's good. Re the oral surgery - when I had mine done, they put me under - don't recall how, but I was out. Didn't feel a thing, then I came out of it and they put me in a room for a bit to wake up some more and that was it - sent me off with my prescriptions. That's what bf wants. Annie - I never had the pre-mixed JC Margarita - sounds good (and easy). Watch out, I may show up on your doorstep for that salsa! I have to get back on board with the weight loss as well - so maybe we need to form a chain for the arse kicking. :kickbutt: I'm within two pounds up and down of where I was when I hopped on this thread around a year ago. In other words, no consistent progress. As for your dream - from dreammoods.com: Light To see light in your dream, represents illumination, clarity, guidance, plain understanding, and insight. Light is being shed on a once cloudy situation or problem. You have found the truth to a situation or an answer to a problem. Also consider the color of the light for additional significance. If the light is particularly bright, then it indicates that you need to move toward a higher level of awareness and feeling. Bright light dreams are sometimes common for those who are near death. To see soft or shadowy lighting in your dreams, indicates feelings and thoughts from the primal aspects and less developed parts of your unconscious. To dream that you cannot turn on the light, indicates a lack of insight and perspective on a situation. Lots of possibilities there... |

It's Friday 13th downunder. I did a post here last night but somepart of my computer is in conflict with some other part of it, possibly another close internet wireless connection which is trying to tell me I need it. Anyway it got very slow last night and finally told me it was offline. Nothing I did fixed the problem. Grrrrrr.
Anyway - the boss out in the mud rung last night to state that we don't have a class today so I am slowly getting myself into gear and will go out and remove the computers and take them back to the store in Roma. Tomorrow I get on a plane and go home. That'll be good. Then DS1 rung to say that he had to take some leave so he thought he might come home. So I will be back at a later time. I might go shopping this afternoon, not that there is much to buy or anything I need. A book might be fun. I'll leave you with a couple more photos |
Shad
The pictures are beautiful. I'm thinking that mud driving would no be fun. and it's been my motto when it comes to having water on the roads is to turn around don't drown, especially if the water is very deep. Enjoy your week end. Laura hope the head ache/ear ache clears up soon. and that the bf does well duriing his oral surgery. Annie That must have been a frightning dream. The websight that laura shared gave a good explanation. and speaking of size 4's 6's and 8's,all I can say is wow. I'd like to see a size 12 again but the mood i'm in concerning weight loss it will not happen any time soon. I can't even get in to the mood to work towards raising my good cholesterol. Mel Are you taking tomorrow off too? I'm sticking close to the house with it being Friday the 13th. one can not be to safe letting others in to a building. hi to happy I have been lazy today. I'm wanting to get out side to do some simple yard work. The lawn finally was mowed earlier this week May try in the morning before 9 a.m. It's been almost 2 months since the surgery. |

Happy Friday everyone!
Even if it is Friday the 13th...it's a Friday so I'm ecstatic!! I really need a weekend. I'm exhausted...and I haven't even done much this week because of my back. I have a lot of website work to do this weekend, which I'll probably do tomorrow morning since it will be rainy. At least I'll get paid extra for the work...as opposed to when I have to put in a bunch of extra hours for my salaried job. I'm not complaining though...I have a good job, with a great company...and if I occasionally or rarely have to put in 70 hour weeks...so be it. Like Happy says...out with the grumbling, in with the gratitude. We're hoping to go fishing on Sunday...but DH has to get a part to fix the truck before we can take the boat out. Hopefully, he'll be able to find the part today and replace it tomorrow. If we don't go fishing on Sunday, I plan to spent at least part of the day in my backyard in the shade laying on my chaise lounge and reading. Ahhhhhh. How wonderfully blissful that sounds! :cloud9: The back pain seems a little better this morning. I still haven't tried exercising, and I'm avoiding all heavy lifting (even though DH's knee doesn't like bringing the laundry up from the basement). I just wish the leg numbness would ease up. Oh well, just a few more days 'till I see not one, but TWO specialists. Shad - Thanks for the gorgeous photos! I'll bet you're looking forward to getting back home...and as an added bonus, you'll get to see your son soon. Annie - Speaking of DS...I'll bet you're excited to see him this weekend. Do you have to work at CVS much this weekend?? That's great to hear that Dad is doing better and only needs checking in rather than supervision. Laura - I hate TOM headaches!! I hope your head/ear ache is gone today. You deserve to enjoy your day off. Have fun tonight with the Book Club. Your mention of your messy desk reminds me of mine. I've been just too busy the last few weeks to take a minute and at least stack all the papers neatly. So that's my task for today. Recycle the non-essential and file the essential. I'm with Mel...if anyone tried to take 4 of my teeth out at once...knock me completely out and give me good drugs for later! :dizzy: Mel - I'm doing the end of week dance with ya', girlfriend!! I'm so looking forward to seeing the building in my rearview mirror at 3:30! Those medical teams should KNOW better than to send someone FUGLY and expect them to get through the front door. Sheesh! Rude and FUGLY? What an awful combination! Ceejay - I hope you didn't overdo it on the yardwork. Stay inside and have a relaxing Friday the 13th. So your b'day is coming up? Yup, I just checked it on FB. So you're a Virgo too, huh? Are you making any fun plans yet for your b'day? I'm gonna get some work done, but I'll be back to check on y'all later. A big Good Morning toast to everyone! :coffee: Love and hugs, |
Geez O Pete, can you say TGIF, my word this week has been h*ll. Today is too, but I just keep thinking there is an end to the nonsense.
Laura....well the info on the dreams was "enlightening". Thank you for googling it. I have weird dreams like that all the time. This one dream I have had since I was a child is of me and my brother, we are Bonnie and Clyde driving a black VW bug, it flips on the side and we get behind it and shoot at the cops. lol. I bet I have had that dream 50 times over my lifetime. Shaddie...great pix. Enjoy your time at home and with DS. Man when you say a change of scenery, you really get that. Chelle....you need to still take it easy with your back if it is not 100%. We don't want you down and out on the couch for any lengthy time. Are you listening sista? Relaxing in the backyard with a book and iced tea sounds wonderful. I am off Saturday but work Sunday at CVS. Not too bad. MELLIE....stay home and stay outta trouble, relax and enjoy your weekend. Even if you get bored, do not pull the fire alarm just so you can see the "boys" lol Ceejay...the dream wasn't really frightening, I was actually at peace with it. But like I told Laura, I have weird dreams all the time. Happy....how's the pool water....naked swimming yet??? lololol Everyone have a marvelous Friday and terrific weekend. Love and hugs |
Howdy chicks,
Friday at last even if it is the 13th. I went to bed at the ungodly hour of 9:30 which I generally can only do if I'm very sick. But I wanted to get up before dawn to sneak a peek at the meteor shower which was a complete bust. I did get some extra sleep which did feel wonderful I must admit. So I am ready to take on yet another hot hot day. The next door neighbors packed up and left without so much as a goodbye - like a bunch of deadbeats leaving in the middle of the night. And they left some problems behind. If they think that's the end of it because they moved to Denver for good - they are in for some unpleasant surprises. Among other things there are some drainage issues they promised to complete but didn't and something wrong with their pool pump and it makes an ungodly buzzing racket throughout the night. They have it set on a timer so it runs at night. I thought when they first moved in they were going to be nice neighbors but they turned out to be as ignorant as the very people they complained about here! They bought a fixer upper and then I guess decided they did not have the time or money to fix it up. At least this time with them putting it on the market they finally put some money into the house so it looks better than all the time they have been living here. I am so behind on catching up with yahs but I will try. Annie - the pool water was a bit cooler this week but the heat cranked up the last 2 days and it's back to bath-ish water again. Now that the neighbors left I was tempted with the naked swim but the water was too cool and I was shy - lots of planes fly overhead at night  The Bonnie & Clyde dream was very funny. Especially since it is so frequent with you. Glad to hear you have at least one day to yourself. Hope you take Saturday for yourself. You deserve a break. And speaking of resting - the same to you Michelle. Glad the back is a tiny bit better but that means to continue to rest up. Hope you get some fishing in this weekend. Will it be dry enough to go out? I found that when I had back issues, I'd put the laundry in the basket, put it up on 2 stairs. then slowly move it up 2 stairs, etc till I got to the top of the stairs and then I'd push it with my foot across the floor. We lived on a single level ranch house in Arlington Heights so it was easy to get it put away from there. But I know DH - like mine - can't take the easy way - they just want to lift and tote even if it is very hard on the back or knees. That's why we are the smarter sex ;) Enjoy your well deserved weekend. Mel - you are more than halfway to 4pm and skipping out of school for the day! Did you have a quiet day yesterday? Get those blueberries - they are especially good right now and the season should be about to end. I love snacking on the big fat ones  Ceejay - doesn't seem like 2 months have passed already. Are you finally feeling you will recover from this? I'm sure the schmutzy weather doesn't help to tell if this made a difference. Is it thick and muggy up your way too? Laura - sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope the pain reliever works. I hear you on the desk papers. Yesterday they had to re-do my new laptop and I had nothing to work with so decided to clean the desk off. Like you I keep stuff for way longer than I need it. Hope you got some tidying done. As for your drinks question the other day - I like amaretto. Amaretto and lemonade or orange juice is really tasty and easy to make. I had a recipe for an amaretto punch with maraschino cherries that was just fabulous but you have to freeze it so you need to have a big area in the freezer in order to make it. And if you don't use all the amaretto in drinking I have some fabulous recipes for it - including a fantastic chicken / orange juice / honey / amaretto recipe that smells sooooo good while you're cooking it and tastes wonderful too. Also since they mentioned it - the TGIF bottled mixes are good too - Mudslide / Creamsicle/Dreamsicle. They are calorie bombs but just put them in the blender with ice and blend and easy to make mixed drinks. Happy hosting! Shad - thank you for posting all the gorgeous pictures. The yellow stuff looks like forsynthia here which is abundant in the spring but yours looks fluffier and prettier. So it's goodbye to the bush for you? Safe travels. Hope you get to spend some time with the DS. I'm sure Sunday will be happy to see you (in her own way). Our kitty managed to avoid the shots and teeth cleaning she was scheduled for today because DH forgot to take up her treat bowl last night and found her munching at 2am. She does not know what she missed but will find out next week :s Anyway I need to get back to work. Have a good weekend all. |
Mel - not sure what I like more - your new avatar or your saying underneath - both gave me a big smile :D
|
i did work outside this morning for about an hour. I have cut back an over grown bush that was drving me insane. I still want to shorten it. It's way taller than I am and hard to get to. After the sun went behind a cloud yesterday, there was actually a brief "cool" down. It was nice enough for me to trim two hedge before it got dark. This morning wasn't tooooo bad. The humidity wasn't bad at all. I did take a couple of breaks. The ENT didn't want me in the heat at all while I was healing and I am a little more leary about staying in the heat since I've had all those nose bleed's. I still want to weed eat. My lawn care person only weed eats around the house-not the sidewalks and driveway.
Michelle Glad to hear that your back is a little bit better. more later. |
Hello ladies.
Shad - Safe travels. Thanks for the lovely photos! Nice that DS will be visiting. Mel - Hope your weekend is nice and quiet and no alarms and fugly medical types being rude and expecting entrance to the building. Michelle - Hope you have a nice restful weekend, and don't do anything for too long that'll stress the back! Annie - Enjoy your Saturday off both jobs!! Have a nice visit w/ your son, and be nice to the gf...unless she's just horrible, lol. Wow, that Bonnie & Clyde dream is a funny one! I have a lot of dreams involving water. Need to go back to that site and see what kind of interpretations there are for that. I also have dreams that involve bugs, but I know I have those just because I hate them so much! Ceejay - Your yardwork is making me feel guilty. Everything needs weeding, and it ain't happening any time soon!! So my book club wil be seeing tall weeds in the beds in front of the house. Oh well, I'll just tell them I'm waiting for the garden fairy to show up. :D Happy - Are there new neighbors on the horizon? Hope they're better than the old ones. I've been blessed with good neighbors - we're the ones that our neighbors probably wish kept up with the yardwork instead of always letting it go a bit more than it should... I'm glad we just have only one set of stairs to schlep the laundry up. This time of year I'm fine with spending time in the basement. Well, my day off hasn't been all that exciting. It was nice sleeping in until 8:00 though. I read and watched tv for a couple hours, then I decided to finish cleaning the fridge (the night before I cleaned a couple shelves). I also dusted, tossed some newspapers and did general tidying. My ear pain from yesterday didn't go away, so I decided to call the doc. She got me in at 4:15. Of course, a couple hours before that, the pain eased up. But I still have my TOM headache, albeit intermittently. Bah. But at least this is the only time of the month it strikes. Bf and I lunched at Steak & Shake, so that was totally unhealthy. And of course we went just after 2 pm, when we saw that shakes are half price. Yup, dessert was a strawberry shake. At least we shared it. The doc didn't find a sign of an ear infection, but some minor irritation. She suggested ibuprofen and prescribed an ear drop. My blood pressure was up - 138 over 86 I think - and I wasn't happy about that, but the doc nailed it - too much sodium, especially from meals eaten out and processed foods (where one can't control it). That and getting exercise. Good motivator to get more exercise and to stop eating out so darn much. Well, I've got my shopping list mostly done, so I'll get out and drop off my rx at the pharmacy and take care of the shopping tonight. Tomorrow I'll vac and wash the floors and just tidy up. The house isn't in that bad of shape, so I won't have to kill myself. Have a good weekend everyone! |
Laura
Don't be to alarmed on the rise of your bp. My bp always goes up when i'm in a panic mode, upset even a doctor's visit. Enjoy your book club tonight and don't worry about the weeds.I'm sure they will not be noticed. |

Much love |
I'm getting ready to drive to Paragould. My 3 uncles are getting together for lunch today. I have much to do before i leave.
mel What would they do with out you! Every one else have a good week end. |
Good morning kids,
Shouldn't have been but it feels like the end to a very long week for some reason. Our drama episode at work is over and done with - perhaps that contributed to it being long as we were all just ready to have things draw to a close and move on. Going to be another hot weekend with highs of 100 degrees. I'll be in the pool for sure, hopefully in the sunshine. My neighbor's pool filter got even louder than it was earlier in the week. It's a very loud electrical humming sort of sound that you can hear clear through the house even with the windows closed. I am torn between wishing it would just up and die already (the way it sounds it must be near to that) but if it does, the pool will lay untouched, turn green, then black and become a huge mosquito farm  DH will never be able to leave the house as they are loving him this year  Anyone want to move next door to me for a few years? You can probably get the house for a good deal. With 4 bedrooms I am really concerned we will get someone with screaming brats. This is still a neighborhood of mostly middle aged and senior folks and it's kind of nice and quiet. I need to tackle some things inside the house and really focus this weekend. I think I'll make a list - that helps. I spoke briefly to Shad on FB last night - she was packing to go home. Hopefully she is back safe and sound. Mel that is just horrid about Richie. I have seen other cases like his where they take everything from the guy - I'm all for support BUT when people ARE doing their part and the government just comes in and takes everything and leaves you less than 20 bucks - that's ridiculous. People really need to think hard before they take their pants off :s: Ceejay - have a good time with the family Are you enjoying your one day off a month Annie? Hope so! Laura - hope the book club goes well tonight - what did your menu wind up looking like? Michelle - watch that back - hope you get some fishing in tomorrow. Is the DS coming to visit Shad? Guess I'd better get off my duff and get something done before the morning escapes me, especially if I want to get in the pool this afternoon. Have a good weekend peoples. |
Morning all
Just a short note to say I am home and rested. It's a beautiful day out there and the hired help is here to tidy up the yard and fill in the trenches made when we shifted water pipes around and added new ones etc. It's nice to be home, but when I went into the supermarket yesterday afternoon it was like dementia revisited. Why ae people so stroppy in a confined space?? Just park your trolley across the aisle. Too bad for anyone who wants to get on with their shopping at speed. Why let the kids push the trolley when they aren't big enough to see where they are going and who they are hitting. Why, why, why. Maybe the mud wasn't so bad. Anyway today is the day where I will clean up some of the house and find a home for the myriad of books I have scattered around. I really need to get some books on line so I don't have the physical thing cluttering up my house. So, it's on to the washing machine and then the dining room and then the yard. That's the plan anyway. I'll be back to do personals. |

HAPPY SUNDAY/MONDAY MORNING! I WOKE UP AT 4:31 AM....I THOUGHT I HEARD THE DOORBELL. YESTERDAY IT WAS 4:44AM!! NOW EITHER I AM GOING CRAZY OR SOMEONE HERE IS WANDERING THE HALLS UNAWARE OF THE TIME. I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED IF IT'S MY OWN DEMENTIA CREEPING IN!! :dizzy: YESTERDAY ALL I DID WAS SELL TOKENS, ANSWER ALARMS, PLAY PC GAMES AND WATCH TV. I WAS SO EXHAUSTED DOING IT THAT I FELL ASLEEP BY 9:30 LAST NIGHT. :lol3: :lol3: IT REALLY WAS AN EASY DAY. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY. :welcome: HOME SHADDIE....I HEAR YA ON THE STROPPY PEOPLE IN SUPERMARKETS....OR ANY STORE FOR THAT MATTER. THEY DON'T EVEN RESPECT THE WHEELCHAIR! THEY'RE ALL FOOKING NUTS. HOPE YOU REALLY DO FEEL RESTED AND THE YARD HELP DID A GOOD JOB. WILL YOU BE HOME FOR AWHILE NOW?? HAPPY...I HAVE BEEN MEANING TO TELL YOU THAT I LOVE THAT AVATAR OF YOURS TOO...WHERE IS IT FROM?? IT'S ALMOST LIKE A TINTED NEGATIVE. SINCE DAY ONE I HAVE BEEN INTRIGUED AND KEPT FORGETTING TO SAY SOMETHING. I AM GLAD THE WORK DRAMA IS OVER. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT IT. GOD I REALLY HATE ANY KIND OF DRAMA NOW!! I WAS ALSO GOING TO TELL YOU TO PULL THE PLUG ON THE NEIGHBORS PUMP...BUT FORGOT ABOUT THE SKEETERS!! COME UP HERE....THERE'S SO MUCH NOISE AND SIRENS GOING OFF OUTSIDE THAT YOU WON'T EVEN HEAR THE PUMP!!  CEEJAY...HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT DAY WITH THE UNCLES. BET THEY MISSED YOU TONS!! I TELL THE SENIORS ALL THE TIME THAT WHEN I DIE, THEY ARE SCREWED! :lol3: :lol3: ANNIE...LOVE THE NEW PIC!!! HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT WEEKEND AS WELL  |
New week, new office. While I was away, the project team moved. Did they think I wouldn't find them again or something? No such luck guys.
Anyway, I now have a nice view of the river and the city skyline. I'd take a picture but the pidgeons have pooped down the windows and I guess the window cleaner is on strike. So you will just have to take my work for it. The view is soothing and nice, if somewhat warm. Some idiot must have turned up the heat on this floor because it is like summer in here. Can't do much in the way of personals I'm afraid. I'm flat out busy. Annie - I hear you on the weight. I'm similar to you but I don't have the height to carry it off. Therefore I am short and fat. We need to get the cattle prod back into action and challenge ourselves to a Christmas target. Gotta go. Back soon. |
Hello everyone.
Ceejay - Hope you had a pleasant trip to Paragould. I hope the bp reading was an aberration. The doc told me to check it with the free bp machines the pharmacies have. When I had my last physical in 2008, I think it was a tad high too, so I better watch it so I don't find myself in the high bp category and on meds. Shad - Welcome home. I can empathize re the supermarket. There's one in our area w/ an excellent deli and I avoid it on the weekends because it's a madhouse - and it's a small place so the carts (and their drivers) really cause problems in the narrow aisles. Happy - I was thinking like Mel - disable the neighbor's pool pump to get some peace - but you're right, it would become one heck of a mosquito breeding ground. Bah. Book club went just fine. I didn't have a menu per se because it's a potluck type thing - I just stuck with my original idea of buying a big bottle of vodka and the juices for mixers. We also had a variety of leftover/left behind beers & Mike's Hard whatevers from bf's bday gathering the previous Saturday. I had a crockpot with the old standby meatballs in grape jelly/chili sauce, a bowl of Swedish fish gummy candy (my theme item, since the book was authored by a Swede and set in Sweden) and a bag of bbq chips (just because). Food others brought: fresh fruit w/ a vanilla yogurt/pudding dip, boiled shrimp, pita/hummus, sushi, 7-layer taco dip, french silk pie, almond cake, pasta salad, and I think that was about it. There's always way too much food, and yesterday was no different. Mel - Wow, that's an early wakeup! Hope you get back to a regular sleeping schedule and the person ringing the bell gets their watch fixed, LOL! Book club was good. It's good to have company and do a good house cleaning, although the bedroom wing of the house doesn't benefit! I had my iPod and was listening to some podcasts while I worked. (Happy - remember Steve Dahl of Disco Demolition fame/infamy? He's off the radio, but podcasting from his basement. He's now sober and 55 y.o. and he's trying to lose weight like the rest of us, LOL.) Hellos to Annie & Michelle!! Hope you both had a good weekend. Back to book club. I expected 10-12 people, but there were 9 of us, which was good because I was running out of space in the living room for extra chairs! There wasn't enough book talk for my liking, but at least some between the moms talking about the coming school year. Sigh. Sometimes I think I need to abandon this book club and join one that's more interested in talking about the books... My neighbor came over and it was good to see her because she's gone through a super awful time this year and hasn't been going to the movies. She brought her daughter's puppy over (she was dogsitting) - a tiny little 3 month old Chihuahua-Dachshund mix. Very cute! Things started off shaky between puppy and my doggy, but ended up fine. Didn't do anything special today, just read the paper, did a couple loads of laundry, pulled a few weeds, walked the dog. Just turned off the AC and opened the windows - a nice few days coming up. :) Enough rambling, I want to get ready for bed and read my book. Good night! |
I've heard the a.c.making noise again so I've turned it up but not off. After 40 years, I have a gut feeling that this may be it for this a.c.
Happy could you call the listing agent and have them to come out to check on the pool pump next door? i suppose it is time to start getting ready for bed. |
