  • Stella, are you getting married soon? Congratulations!
  • Hey everyone.... Saskatchewan has mosquito's the size of birds!!!! Don't go there! Haha... we were out in the country where the bugs are always bigger and more plentiful. It was nice to see my cousins but my Granny ended up with a fractured pelvis and with the pain killers and gravol we didn't get to visit much.

Hi & congrats to you Stella I remember how excited I was for my wedding. Don't forget to delegate and make sure you relax and enjoy the day. I was at Niagara in April.. very pretty out there!

Hi and welcome to all of our other newbies

I can't believe the weather you've been having in the east, yuck! I think I'd melt! Today & tomorrow it's supposed to be hot here too (30's) but at least we've been getting breaks into the lower 20's. It actually hasn't been that hot here and it rained almost all of the past month. Good thing I have a treadmill in the basement! Paul from X-Weighted tried to break a world record here for the most people in a bootcamp at one time but on the day he held it we had a rainfall warning for the 2nd day in a row so I don't think it turned out that well.

Hope everyone is doing well, it's hard to get on when there is so much to do outside now as well as inside! Oh.. and Diana Gabaldon's books are awesome!!! I've read and re-read the series LoL. Good stuff.... I think I need to find a Jamie
  • JJ ~ that is sooo funny; cute funny, I mean ... you know, we true northerners had a hoot of laugh when the Harris bunch redrew the lines in Ontario to include the Muskokas and Parry Sound as part of Northern Ontario!!! I see that it caught on in more ways than one. It was really becuz they wanted access to the Northern Heritage Fund for their community development projects. We don't really consider anything below North Bay as in the north; and I think that was where the old lines were too.

Anywho, I live way up north in a small, but pretty little town, near the city of Timmins (probably 400+ hundred miles north of you, depending on where you live in southern Ontario). I was born in the Guelph area and was schooled there, but came up to Timmins to go to college; but ended up residing in the same town my parents lived in at the time. Funny thing is, that they moved back down south (but I stayed).

The only things I miss down there are family, the beaches, and the fact that there are less buggies than here; but I don't relish the heat waves you get these days. We are well-planted here, but sometimes I consider moving back down south -- well, for a few minutes ...

AUNTY ~ sent up some prayers for your granny that she will heal up fast and well; all this heat has been killing off the buggies for us, esp the skitters ... yeah!!!

Congrats, STELLA ~ I bet you are very excited; DH and I just had a small wedding ... us and a few friends. When's the big day? Have a great time at your party!

HI 2B ~ don't envy that crazy schedule; nice to see you drop by, even if it is only once and a while -- we understand, really!

Did all my vacuuming this AM; a great workout. Hope you all have a fantabulous Friday tomorrow; we may go out to our camper if the weather is OK ... Rosebud
  • My wedding is August 28th, so exactly one month away! Very exciting. Approx. 100 guests. It's an evening wedding with cocktails and hors d'ourves.

JJ - I do aqua pilates at my gym two times a week and I absolutely love it! It's a great workout. Check out www.waterart.org for aqua workouts and also in the new issue of Self magazine there is a whole section on water workouts, they might be online too!

It's been rainy and then sunny back and forth all day today and now we're getting thundershowers. Wierd weather. I don't mind because I'm at work until 7pm.
  • Congrats Stella, on your upcoming wedding!! I've been married 14 great years...I still remember the excitement!
I'll have to check out the aquafit article and that site you recommended.
It's a hot one here...whew...I hear the thunder in the distance so anytime now.
Hope the weekend weather is great for your party Stella.

We actually would go to a cottage near North Bay, about 3/4 hr before. We go to arnstien, a small town on the 522. So quite a bit past the muskokas. Too busy there for me to go on a holiday to relax and get away from it all
  • WOW what a thunderstorm we got today. It was so dark here - it was spooky! It didn't really cool things down, still humid and sticky. But the grass is green!

In the past when we have rented a cottage, we have gone up to Parry Sound or Huntsville - but I agree, its getting way too busy there now to be a holiday.

Made a great soup tonight with skim milk, low sodium veg stock, broccoli, cauliflower, salt & pepper and cayenne pepper. Steamed then pureed in a blender. Little bit of part skim chedder sprinkled on top. YUM
  • Your soup sounds Delish! I've got to get checking out the recipes on here. The other night I cut up onions, peppers, mushrooms, and zuchinni...a little olive oil and Clubhouse veggie seasoning and BBQ'd them in a veggie basket!!
Very good I tell you. I could have eaten the whole basket on my own.

Yeah, it was a pretty intense storm. My inlaws called(from niagara) justr as we were getting it and she said they had had the storm about 1/2 hr earlier. My kids nearly fell off the couch with the one CRACK of thunder...it even made me jump
  • Mmmmm BBQ'd veggies. Do you ever BBQ fruit? Like peaches or pineapple?

I had grilled chicken and a salad with sunflower seeds. Not bad. A little bland.

It has cooled down a lot here (finally). I wonder how long it will last!
  • hey all,

BBQ'd fruit? I've never tried it but have seen alot of recipes lately so maybe I should try it. Do you eat that yourself and how do you do it? Any seasonings?
  • Just brush with a bit of olive oil and grill until those beautiful grill marks appear and on a skewer works best. MMMM caramelization. They become so juicy. I've only ever done pineapple, peaches, and pears. But I think you can do just about anything!
  • Have I not even popped into this thread to say hello??? I'm sorry .... Hi everybody!
  • Welcome, eh? Nice to see another canuck here!! I see you are pretty much at the end of your weightloss journey. CONGRATULATIONS!!
  • Hi JJ. Yup, for the third time But I think I'm on to something this time. I've been holding pretty steady since Feb or March ... almost effortlessly. Hey maybe if I added some effort I could hit my goal of hovering under 125!
I've got a bit of mush around the middle, ya know?
  • Hi there Stella...Hope you have a great time at your bacholerette party!!
  • We had a nice day today; cool this morning but it warmed up this afternoon -- a bit hot by dinnertime, but it's cooling off now, thank goodness. Got lots of walking in today while shopping going around in circles trying to find everything on my list; that's great becuz the time just flew by.

SUSANB ~ Congrats again anyways; at least you are sticking to it, and that's what counts.

We're just having a quiet night at home; resting up after a busy week. Hope you all have wonderful weekend ... Rosebud
