  • Good morning to everybody. I am up early so I can get the laundry done and take it over first thing this morning after I drop off the dog. Fortune jumped on the wrong part of the chair and the screw fell out again so I am going to suggest to Jack he put this stuff in the screw hole that should help. I bought the stuff eons agon and used it to glue the rubber around the headlight on the grand marquis when it came off. It was one of those infommercial type things, but the stuff does work so maybe it will solve the chair issue at least for a little while.

Jean: I have got to get on the ball and email Alicia about Jackson's birthday and what he wants. His birthday is the 10th of June and then Thomas's is the 25th. I cannot believe Jackson is going to be 3 already and Thomas will be 10. We like Perkins for breakfast, but they closed the one over here where we live so we have to drive a bit to get to the one next closest. They also closed the Bob Evans over here so we really only have a choice between IHOP and Cracker Barrel neither of which Jack likes because they have lousy sausage gravy according to him. I don't know, I don't eat the nasty stuff. As for the commissary, I am not sure whether it was under water or not as I just saw on the tv website an aerial picture of the base (here it is below) and you couldn't tell what building was what, but the road was flooded heavily in places to get there and so much of that part of Millington was window high in water that there was no way we could get out there even if they had been open. There is a mobile home park not more than half a mile from the base that the water was up to the top of the trailers. They showed one guy sitting on the roof of his waiting to be rescued.

Susan: I sure wasn't criticizing what you said to me. I hope you didn't think I was. I was just saying you had such a heavy burden and didn't complain and I seem to be whining continually about things going wrong. I have always taken the position that there is always someone else in worse shape than you so suck it up and go on, but have sort of had a pitty party for myself lately and I think part of it is because I am just plain worn out. With the extra weight and not excercising combined with a lot of extra duties, I have just been miserable. So, being on WW all the time now again and getting in some exercise should help. One thing I found out is that for my size I should not be walking in my neighborhood since it is all uphill every directions. It isn't so much because of the strain, but more that it gets my heart rate up too high and then I don't really get the workout I should because I have to slow way down to get it back to just being raised like you should for regular exercise. With that being said, I imagine it will either be get in the car and drive somewhere to walk or get on the treadmill. I have my rope thingy and my weights too, but walking will be my primary way to exercise for sure.

You ladies have a great day and hopefully Susan, you don't get the storm we had. Things are drying out but it is going to take time. Faye

  • Good morning, ladies! Not so hot today but 40% chance of thunderstorms. I started to go out to walk once this morning but it was starting to rain so I came back in and by the time I put a load in the washer, the sun was back out so I did my walk.

Jean, you can get a Weather Channel/NOAA Alert radio for about $40. It automatically comes on to warn you of storms like tornados. Then if you are inside at night you don't need to worry about not hearing the siren. The restaurants around here are serving tomato on sandwich by request. They say the tomato crop in Florida was ruined by the cold weather. I don't like BK anyway. You sure got a lot done at the cabin.

Faye, It seems you were waiting for Jackson to be born only a few days ago and here he is 3 and T was a little thing when I got to know you. Time sure flies. I'm sure you'll feel better when you get some weight off and it sounds like you have a plan so that will be happening soon.

    Maggie, Hi!

I have my last bible study session tonight. We're having a party afterwards.

    Have a great day!
  • MONDAY all day
    GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is another beautiful sunshiney day here in the Heartland. We did get a smattering of rain last evening that didn't amount to much. There is some sort of bug going around that only lasts a day and Will had it yesterday and now I have it today. One just feels lousy and sometimes like chucking up but don't. I made myself a nice cup of chicken noodle soup for lunch and it made me feel a tad bit better. By tonight I should be feeling back to exact. I have a nice roast in the crock pot that I am going to make shredded beef for burritos with. I put an envelope of onion soup mix on it and covered it with salsa and placed it in a crock pot to cook. I will make the burritos with my rice mix, beef and cheese for dinner. A roast of that size makes quite a few burritos. I like to make them up and freeze some. Nothing much going on around here this day. The crew was pulled off the roof next door to go do another job. These contractors do that. They start a big job then other smaller ones come along in the meantime so they quit work on the big job to go make some quick money on the smaller ones. So on a beautiful day like today they aren't here to work.

SUSAN OH, you have humidity. My most unfavorite thing. That was neat you got your walking in between rain drops. You go girl.

JEAN I can imagine how you are enjoying the sunshine there. I love those all cotten sheets but mine come out great. Do you get yours out as soon as they are dry? Even just a little while sitting in the dryer after being dried can wrinkle them up. And, are yours Egyptian cotton? Makes a difference with their process.

DONNA FAYE Has the water begain to subside in your garage? I have been seeing how your area has been hit. Thanks for that picture which really shows it as it was. Good idea of yours to put that goop in the screw hole. Bet it works to keep that screw in where it belongs.

I am beginning to smell that roast. Ummm. Well Magnolias I am feeling somewhat better and will now go do something ~ probably wash our lunch dishes. Will had a brot on a bun for his lunch and like I said, I had soup. But I didn't put the dishes in the dishwisher because I hadn't completely finshed emptying it ~ so there you have it. Type at y'all later.

Oh I ment to ask you ladies if you are on Twitter? If you are can you send me your address you use there by email please and I will add you to those I follow. I even downloaded it to my phone today. I only have Fox news and Twitter downloaded.
  • Good Afternoon, Flowers! The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day in my neighborhood although not very warm. I decided to be "Betty Crocker" today and fix a roast for dinner. Today is recycle day so Bob was out in the garage doing that before he left for work. Meanwhile I'm browning the roast and pulled the pan off the burner to turn the roast over. When I put the pan back on the burner it started to smoke like crazy. I thought maybe some grease had spattered on the burner when I took the lid off. Nope, I had put the pot holder on the hot burner, then set the pan back on top of it. When I lifted the pan off the smoke really went to town! I tried to pull the pot holder off the burner but it was too far gone. Man, what a stinky smell that was! It didn't take long for the area to fill with smoke, but the smoke alarm never went off. Bob came back in and we opened windows then used a couple of box fans to circulate the air. The stove top came clean with a little elbow grease but I still have to work on the bottom of the pan. I've always been so careful with plastic utensils, etc., I still can't believe that I did that. I can understand why people die in their sleep, from smoke fumes. We both coughed alot until we got the fans going.

"Gma" -- I hope the glue will keep the recliner screw in it's place! I'm with you thinking that sausage gravy just sounds nasty! I usually order an omelette because mine never turn out at home, and I end up with everything scrambled together.

Susan -- Congrats on sneaking your walk in after the rain shower. Thanks for the weather channel info; I wonder if it is connected to the weather channel on tv. Enjoy your Bible study tonight -- it's hard to believe that the summer schedules are beginning.

Maggie -- I hope you are feeling much better by now. I don't know what kind of cotton sheets I bought, other than I got them at Penneys. They come out of the washer wrinkled and I pull them out of the dryer when the stitching is still a bit damp . . . wrinkled! Bob at me because I have such a fit about wrinkled clothing. I'm not on Twitter; I have enough trouble with Facebook and don't go there very often either.

Anyhow, I need to get busy and I hope you all are having a marvelous "rest of the day!"

    Jean -- from Iowa!
  • Good morning ladies. It is going to be HOT this week here, near 90 everyday so I think spring has sprung and summer is trying to sneak its way in already.

Maggie: When we lived in New Mexico years and years ago, I worked for a dress shop for a bit. There was this little old Mexican lady who would bring homemade potato and beef burritos into the store to sell. They were the best things. Jack doesn't like burritos very much but he loves enchiladas. I love Mexican food but it is hard not for it to be loaded with calories even making it at home.

Jean: I just got a big chuckle out of you saying you were being Betty Crocker then burning up the potholder! A couple weeks ago I was making spaghetti and turned on the water to boil. I made some garlic toast and set it on the stove to put in the oven. Well, I had turned on the front burner instead of the back for the water and had sat the garlic bread on the front burner. You think your potholder smelled! Man, burned garlic is baddddddddd! I think you get distracted and do stuff like that. I have put nutty stuff in the fridge and stuff that belongs in the fridge in a cupboard.

Susan: Hope you enjoyed your Bible study and party. I imagine the rain has moved off into the atlantic by now. Hope you didn't get what we had though.

Today is Jack's ortho appt to see how things are coming along. Jack thinks he will send him back to work the rest of the week. I would hope they would keep him home until Monday at least then on light duty for another week before having him go back full time to work. He is doing great, but he still limps so it isn't completely back where it should be.

Took Fortune to the vet yesterday and he is all clean and cute again. My groomer does such a good job on him and he really likes her. She has had cancer twice and I am hoping she doesn't ever have to go through it again.

Well gals, I need to go. Have a good Tuesday! Faye
