  • Annie
that was very sweet of you to take your mother on an outing. Yes, memories were made. cherrish them.
  • Good morning chicks,

Annie - I can understand you getting choked up with your Mom. Bless you for taking her. I feel badly for my Mom too - she also says in a quiet voice how it's so hard to get some things (like 50 pound bags of rock salt) by herself and how it's so hard to have to keep asking people to do things for her. Of course MY reply to that is that is if she lived down here, I would take care of her. You are a good daughter.

Still cold out - will be so all week it seems. I'm eager for winter to be done with. (ok you guys up north - don't punch me )

Can't stay on here - DH has a taste for pancakes and said after we eat we can go shopping for a few items like the faucet replacement I need for my bathroom sink. So a quick wave to the chicks and I'm off
  • Morning all,
Rain, glorious rain, it's at it again. We have had around 2" of rain this weekend. After all the water I have poured on the garden during this week, the rosegarden is a fairly soggy mass at the moment. However all the little plants seem to have happily settled in and are popping their little heads up and looking around.
It's Australia day today and there is much flag waving on the TV and in the streets. There will be fights around by this afternoon. The Aborigines are complaining because the date to them is Survival Day and the Honours list came out with the usual mix of Olympians (what have they actually done for the country apart from not earning too much money so they don't have to pay taxes like the rest of us, and being supported by the States all for the sake of their 'greatness'. The money earned from royalties and advertising is put into trusts and not considered taxable.) There, there Shad your green eyes are showing.

Ceejay - glad to hear that the problem with the car is not too bad. Always happens at the wrong time hey!

Annie - glad to hear that you have had a good day with Mum. That should give you plenty of exercise pushing that wheelchair and her around with it. Good memories.

Happy - happy tap shopping. There is a huge variety out there these days. It can be bewildering trying to work out which one will look good, do the job, and fit the existing pipes. Pancakes for breakfast? Hang on, I'll bring the Maple syrup!!!

DB2 dropped in yesterday. He seems to be reasonably stable and happy at the moment. Maybe the ghost of being stuck in a different country with absolutely no money has given him an insight into the perils of the evil casinos. He's even talking of telling the DS2 to take some money out of his account to repay the money lent. We can only hope.
DS2 has gone away for the weekend. It's made for a quiet time around here, however I have got a fair amount done and will finish off the noisy bits of housework today while he is not here.

I've decided on my next project around the house (for when I have finished all the current ones) and that is to line the roof cavity so I can store some of my junk - er stuff - up there until I decide whether to sell it or keep it. At the moment it is down in a storage shed (the junk, not the roof cavity) and it is costing me to keep it there. So time to get on with the 'niggles' as Ruthxxx would say and get on with the next project while I still have time.
  • STAYING OFF THE COMPUTER IS ACTUALLY WORKING THIS TIME AND I HAVE MADE BETTER PROGRESS. BUT I WON'T BE BACK UNTIL FEBRUARY I THINK. I WANT THIS EYE THING OVER WITH AND THE DR SAYS THIS IS THE ONLY WAY. STRICT DIET, MEDS AND THE LEAST ARTIFICIAL LIGHT. LET ME TELL YOU WITHOUT PC, TV AND BOOKS....LIFE IS BORING! BUT I WANT CLEAR SKIN FOR THE SPRING...WILL BE THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS!
JEN ISN'T HERE SO I AM NOT CAUGHT UP WITH ALL YOUR ANTICS!
STAY WELL AND WILL SEE YOU ALL SOON
  • Good morning chicks,

Just a quick drive by salute this morning - I got side tracked doing a bunch of "only take a minute" things and now I'm running late.

There is a possiblity of an ice storm over the next 3 days but it looks like it will hit Ceejay and maybe just graze us if not outright miss us

I've got a home owners association meeting tonight and I have to figure out how to get a grocery shopping trip in today too. So this might be all I post today. Take care and be good. Sorry about the lack of personals...
  • Oh Monday Morning.....

I have cramps, headache, tummy ache, b*thcy, cold, tired, want to go back to bed...but love the job and at it. Thank God the boss is out of town till Wednesday.

Miss Indiana won the Miss American pagent for the first time in history, confirms the world is coming to a close. haha

Cold and miserable in Indiana today, with a heck of snow storm on it's way. Should make Tuesday morning drive awful. They are predicting anywhere from 1-6 inches, now I am not a weatherperson, but I believe I could call that one. 1-6 inches, what a guess....

Hello to all the chickies today.

    Love and hugs,
  • I'm feeling virtuous here eating my lunch of baked chicken (1 pc with skin removed), steamed broccolli occoli, one half of a sweet potato with 1 pat butter and liberal sprinkling of cinnamon. Dessert is a plum and a clementine orange. I am eating bright colors of orange, green and drippy fruit juices none of which managed to plop on my new white sweater. I think this is proof number 2 that the world is coming to an end tagging along on Annie's comment

Sorry you are feeling yukko girl. Take some aspirin and hope you feel better soon. It's not much consolation I know but be glad for those cramps because they mean 1) no bun in da oven 2) you still have raging homones which means lots of hair on the top of your head and none under your chin - think I'm kidding? Wait... 10+ years from now you will trade female cramps for intestinal ones thus once again proving that life is NOT fair.

I don't know if I can wait until February to hear from Mel Of course at this time next week we will be sitting into February so it's not that long but I do feel badly that Mel has to take breaks from us. Sending you some hugs under the rug my friend

Happy Australia Day Shad. Hope you enjoyed some of the celebrations and stayed far away from the bar fights. I think we all have our Aborigine situations no matter which continent we sit on I saved you 4 pancakes but you didn't show I told DH that perhaps it was because he forced me to put diced peaches in them and you found that disgusting I hope DB2 finally sees the light. I know it's very hard for the family to deal with that.

Ceejay - remember - if you get the cruddy weather DO NOT PUSH IT DOWN SOUTH. I have my fingers crossed for you. Hope you are feeling better.

This whatever I have just does not want to get better. I really cannot deal with it if it comes to round 3.

I am also feeling old. This year I will turn the double nickel (55). For me, that's officially old. Next year I will be married to a 60 year old. I am going to start calling myself a child bride However, last night we were watching TV and sitting on couches opposite each other and during the commercials we were flirting and it didn't involve any popping out of teeth, farting, or rubbing of linament in secret tingly places so I guess until at least April 27, we're still ok.
  • I hope mother nature misses us this time. They are predicting 3/4 inches of ice and then turn into snow on Wednesday. I'd rather have the snow at least there is traction.

Not much to say so I'll just give a
  • Happy Monday ladies -

Sorry I was out of touch most of the weekend. I was pretty tired Saturday night after doing website work all day, so that led to a lazy Saturday evening and Sunday.

I'm hoping to get to the gym tonight for a 1/2 hour strength training class, and maybe a little time on the treddie.

Annie - Glad to hear your DD starts cosmetology school soon! Glad you made some money off the jewelry your ex gave you! So nice of you to take your mom on such an outing! What an adventure! So sorry you're not feeling well. I hope you don't get much snow. That storm must be missing us (at least I hope it will).

Happy - Sorry that the new antibiotic caused you tummy distress. I hope you are feeling better and that your coughing has subsided. As for me, I definitely took your advice and stayed inside during our cold weather weekend. 36 degrees for you (I just checked). Definitely chilly. Bundle up, dress warm....you've got to get better. It's 12 here, but it definitely feels much warmer than it did last week when we had those bitter artic winds. I hope you don't get hit with the ice storm. They are awful. I'd rather have snow than ice. Happy, you are definitely scaring me with the hair on the head versus under the chin and female cramps versus intestinal ones. Not sure I'm looking forward to the change! Hey there young...yes I said young...lady...double nickel isn't old. And as you so subtlely pointed out....you and DH are doing just fine!

Ceejay - I hope you're feeling better. Since I was doing freelance website work and not working for my full-time job, I don't get a day off later in the week. I'm trying to decide if I want to use a vacation day next month or save them....I'm leaning toward saving them for when my DMIL comes back out here. I hope you don't get hit with the ice storm Happy mentioned.

Patty - We've heard that peanut butter dog treats might be affected....so while we have boxes and boxes of them (as they are our pups' favorite), we aren't giving them any until we know for sure that they are safe. Good for you for relaxing over the weekend after a hectic work week!

Shad - I'm so glad you're getting the rain you need! And that your DB2 is doing a little better. Happy Australia Day! I hope the celebrations don't turn violent.

Mel - Not sure if you'll be online to see this, but I hope your eyes are doing better, as well as your skin. :

Well, lots more to get done before the end of the day.

    Love and hugs to all,
  • I don't believe it, I have forgotten to post again. Only excuse is that I was busy on my hands and knees on the floor washing and dusting and cleaning. It rained on and off for most of the day, although the skies are clear now and although it is very pleasant out there at this time of the day, the ozzie mozzie is making his presence felt. Pain!!!

Not much else to report. I'm still steaming through the housework and fixing the little niggles. The painting of the crown moulding is not done. The kitchen window will be finished tomorrow and I can fit the new blind. Then I need to go finish the niggles down the hall. New trim on the wall and ceiling man hole thingy. Also I will get started again on the tiling. I have bought myself a new electric tile cutter and need to go check it out. More housework will follow tomorrow.

I'm not going to do personals now. First thing in the morning I think. I applied for a couple of jobs over the weekend. One recruiter rang me back, but his idea of how SAP works is around the same knowledge level that I have in getting a man to the moon. So I gave up on that one. The other hasn't yet got back to me. WTF.

So have a good day - it must be getting onto day some where in the world since we are getting into night. I'll be back.
  • Morning Gals....

Shad....Great job on the cleaning. I love to clean. I would rather have your rain than this mess of crap we are getting today. Our offices in Louisville, Kentucky are closed due to the weather. That is only 2 hours south of Indianapolis. Hope it stays south. Sorry southern gals. Just as for me, the perfect job will be knocking at your doorstep any moment.

MEL...Hope the eyes are recovering nicely. We miss you around here.

Michelle...Working on the weekend is a sin. hehe....You deserve a break!

Happy....are you kidding, I already have to pluck about 10 random hairs out of my chin. Been doing that since about 28 yrs old. Probably have a full beard by the time I am 60. Wow, how great, you will be 55. It is just a number. Party like a rockstar next month....sounds like you and you lovely groom are "still with it".. Good for you!!

    Howdy Ceejay.

Not much going on here, just trying to stay warm, and avoid snow. High today is 18, shuwee a heatwave. Did a preliminary on taxes. Looks like I will have to pay state taxes about 250.00 and get a return from Federal of 3500.00. Hope Feds come back before I have to pay state. YIKES!!

    Hi to everyone.

    Love and Hugs
  • whew weee, they are predicting 6-12 inches of snow for the Indianapolis area.......
  • Happy Tuesday ladies -

Shad - I wish I could steam through my housecleaning. You are my inspiration! You rock!

Annie - 6-12" of snow? Wow! I'm glad the storm is going south of us. Drive safely. Will your office close if you get a foot of snow?

Ceejay and Happy - I hope the ice storms weren't too bad and that you're safe and warm.

Mel - I hope you're still resting your peepers.

Love and hugs to all my worldly friends!
  • We are hoping so, typically they do is what I hear, however I have not been here in winter before. I think I am going to leave at 3:00 pm today. No need in getting in all that rush hour traffic with the igits that don't know how to drive in snow.
  • Morning all,

Michelle - thanks for the kind words about the steaming housework. I see I made a spelling boo boo on my entry. The painting is now done and not, not done. That's one job off the list. Today will be more housework, mowing the lawns (that is if the rain holds off long enough to dry them out somewhat), trim in the hall, paint on the kitchen window, time out for shopping, and whatever else I can fit in or not as the case maybe.

Annie - hope you don't get sent homefrom work or are not able to attend. It's too early in the new job to take a break yet!!

Mel - if you are reading this, Hope those eyes get better soon.

Happy - are you still feeling under the weather? You didn't post yesterday either.

Hello to Ruthxxx, ceejay, madcat, holly, patty, and ever missing Carla.

PS. It was weigh day today. I finally lost nearly 2kg. About bl**dy time is all I can say.

    See ya
