  • Our March 1st LION arrived yesterday evening -- "lovely" layer of fresh white snow this morning.
  • So friends, I've been thinking about a plan for a mini-olympics for next January. I for one would enter cross country skiing and maybe biathlon. What would you enter if you were an olympian? I was thinking, work out events and challenge ourselves a bit. I really need a kick in the pants to get exercising more. Any suggestions?
  • I would row and speed walk. Do they have a mini-olympics where you are or should wee all start training now to compete with you next January?
  • I was thinking online stuff. set training goals for ourselves, and get ready to celebrate the olympics here in Canada next year. I am a TERRIBLE one for exercise. I need some inspiration. I don't know how to get it...BUT I LOVE the olmypics. For sure we will order extra channels to get as much coverage as possible next year....I thought, why not. Its a way we Canadian chickees can celebrate our olympians and get in better shape ourselves.
I am thinking setting goals and going for personal bests.
Happy to think and plan for more ideas.....come on everyone!
  • Quote: Hi!
I'm from Hamilton, Ontario. How 'bout you?
    Good luck.
I'm in Hamilton too....east mountain area.
  • Gee . . . nothing but rain, rain, rain today . . . luckily I'm on high ground because down closer to the shore there is a definite threat of flooding. Supposed to freeze up and turn into a skating rink overnight.
  • meowee, looking at the weather reports looks awful for you. blah and then freeze up. stay warm and dry....
its been frigid and arctic here, will be warming up. Hope this is our last deep freeze. I am getting weary of the long cold winter.
at least we have some sun with it.
  • Hey fellow Canucks!
I'm from Orillia (Barrie), Ontario... but I'm in Guelph at uni.
  • Welcome to the Group!!!!! Glad to have you.

  • JELBB . . . Amazing how small the world is . . . my Mother was from Minnesing and I have herds of relatives in the Barrie area. To top it off I spent about ten years in Kitchener before moving down here to Nova Scotia.

Guess Mother Nature decided the ice wasn't enough for people to contend with so she added about 1/2 inch of snow on top. At least we are having sporadic sunshine; but I'm very glad I don't have to go anywhere.

Hope you all have a good day . . .
  • Hi all. New to the forum and looking forward to participating!
I live in the beautiful East Kootenays in BC. The weather for the last few days is inspiring! Spring is on the way!!!

I follow the BFL program and have for the last 2 years off and on. I really like it and I am currently working on my 9th week. I have a ways to go but I am loving the progress that I am making. I have never been athletic and hope to get to a point where I can actually participate in a run or something that will make me a better runner...

    Have a great day all!
  • Hey I'm in Alberta. Where are all the Westerners???? Wow there is lot of people from Ontario on here. My husband and I will be traveling to Ontario by car for holidays. I can't wait.

    Have a exercise filled day

  • I'm new and also from Alberta. Calgary to be exact. Hating the weather today! Cold, windy and snowy. Praying for a chinook.
  • Welcome to all the new Canucks to the group.

  • hope all our newbies enjoy visiting here.
For my part, I did my olympic training today, in fact a bit more! did 10 minutes on the cross country nordictrack, and another 12 of aerobics, and some balance exercises on the wii fit. Also did a pilates class tonight.
My goal is to do another round of skiing or other aerobics at least once more in the next 3 days, and again early next week.

For those who are new, I am hoping we can train to have a little online olympics when we Canadians are hosting the real olympics next year. We each "train" for our favourite winter sport. I enjoy cross country skiing, so I am planning for that, and maybe biathlon if I can find something for the wii that will simulate the shooting part.
I am doing this because I am a fitness wimp, and generally have trouble motivating myself to exercise, especially aerobic stuff.

Otherwise, we seem to do a lot of weather griping!
Today was spring like and very nice, here in southern Ontario
