Grrrrrr! When I came home from the party last night, I left my glasses on the kitchen table. Lucy ate them this morning! That's pair #8 since October 2005!
I don't mind the $$, the worry and the inconvenience as much as having to go back to the optometrist!

I punished her by not taking her to Church!

Feeling a bit punky this a.m. and may be getting a cold so I am planning to NOT visit Harry. I drank very little last night so it's not a hang over. I think I may just be pretty tired so will take it easy today - maybe some painting? Maybe herb tea? Maybe a nap?

Not feeling chatty for a change - maybe later.

Shy Moment 09-16-2007 11:38 AM

Sounds like an interesting group of people in here.

Well, my excitement for the day yesterday was going with my daughter to practice tennis. She on her high school team. Regressing.. why is it mothers never get those awards on banquet night. It seems to me, we are the ones that have earned them. The kids are young, they can jump all over the place. We on the other hand, are not young and still have to be hit by 1,000's of tennis balls and try to keep up with a person at least 28 years younger than we are lol.

Anyway, I tried to do my best and hit, I don't know how many, balls over that stupid net to her. Since I can't stop coughing for more than 15 min this was pretty darn fun for me lol. She of course hit them back AT me. I really think her favorite part of the day is when I go with her to practice. She gets me back for every wall I have made her scrub lol. After an hour I was wiped out and told her that was all I could do. We usually do this for 2 or 3 hours.

I now have beautiful wainscotting. How is this, you might ask. Well, my son decided to curse in front of me. This is NOT allowed. He and a bottle of old English got to be best friends all yesterday afternoon. I have to report, the wood work looks lovely.

I have already gone thru the house and straightened up. My husband of course has yelled about this, I am sick he says and should have told everyone else what I wanted done:club:. He says my " straightening up " is what other people call cleaning. It isn't cleaning. Cleaning is cleaning and straightening up is straightening up lol. Would have taken longer to make everyone do what I wanted than just do it myself. Now mind you, usually I make everyone do their chores even if this means I have to stand over them with a whip. But today I just don't feel like having to beat anyone. I have two loads of laundry left to do and then I am done for the day, he is going to make dinner :), which of course means spaghetti but that is ok I don't feel like cooking. I am going to do nothing harder for the rest of the day than wrap in a nice blanket and watch tv.

You have now had a small peek into the daily life of a Domestic Goddess. Don't you feel better about your own exciting life now ;)

Ruthxxx
Sorry you aren't feeling the thing. Maybe a nice cup of tea and a nap are just the thing.

Happy2bme
Since hubby works out of town and is gone so much, will be so nice when he finds a job in town. He always goes to the store with me. I find this more work than when I had to drag two children under the age of 6 with me lol.

Melody
You know I go on about my son sometimes. That is just an outlet for all the pent up anger I have because of how the world treats him. God gave him me to me and not to someone else because he knew I wouldn't put the child in a barrel and plug up the hole lol. Think my life would be more of a burden without that delightfully child. He does make me laugh. Yesterday was his " kissing mom all over her face " day until I was screaming for him to leave me alone.

Shad
Have always wanted to visit Australia just getting on a plane is the problem lol. Have seen pics and you have a beautiful country.

Shad 09-16-2007 07:28 PM

Morning all,
Another wonderful day in Paradise I see. Don't feel so stressed out today somehow. However probably all that will change when the troops arrive. So far it is just me, a $17 million dollar view and the sunshine. And all of you of course. I did get some work done yesterday in spite of spending a lot of time sorting out photos for you lot. I'd better only charge for half a day I think.

Mel it is not enough to say I'd start with the antlers! Why would you start with the antlers? You have to have a reason for such things. Elucidate.  What's this going to bed with men? I'm amazed and with the grandson in the house as well! :lol3: Rest up and get better.

Happy - are you going out in sympathy with Mel. If she has Mr Sciatica, who are you rummaging about with? That's not grammatical. Enjoy the shopping. *snork* as Ruth would say!!

Ruth - I can't see how the optometrist will mind if Lucy eats the specs. He probably considers you his best customer! That Lucy. She just doesn't get any better does she. I wonder where she gets that 'joie de vivre' from. The nap, cup of tea and painting sound like heaven to me. Not necessarily in that order mind you.

Rennie, so good of you to go to tennis with your daughter even tho' you are sick. And instead of telling you that you are sick, is there a reason he couldn't have taken the daughter to tennis? You could have stayed home and warm and gotten the son to do more cleaning - uh straightening! Sounds like you have a good home life there. All power to you.

Not much new to report on around here. I've obviously sabotaged myself AGAIN over the weekend. This has to stop. I know what is causing it. I just have to do something about it or at the end of the month, I will be reporting no loss again! :nono: :nono:

Enjoy the wildflowers - I'll be back.

happy2bme 09-17-2007 08:51 AM

Good morning ladies,

Another weekend zipped by again. I'm looking forward to this week at work - most of the managers are going to a big, off-site conference which means it should be relatively quiet around the office and I'm hoping to get caught up with things.

I did alot of cooking yesterday. The nicer thing about the cooler weather is that you can make stuff ahead of time and just warm it up. Made 2 soups also. One was a vegetable soup from Rachel Ray's magazine. It's ok. Chock full of vegetables but I've had better tasting soups.

I'm glad you figured out the sabotage Shad - I don't know why I keep falling into the same bad habits over and over.

Don't have much time to post this morning so I'll just say  and be on my way.

Madcat 09-17-2007 09:04 AM

I am also going to have to do a drive-by waving . Busy morning here in The Tower and I am really not feeling that great. But I am here and that is something. Turns out the Dr. found "something" in my blood tests. They called me and "insisted" I book a follow-up appointment... which I had already done, but I called to see if I had to have an earlier one since they sounded so serious on the phone. Meh. Turns out my Dr. is off on vacation this week, and the receptionist thought I was crazy... so I doubt I am in a life-threatening situation here. Gosh. It would be too back to ruin the guy's golf game for a mere health crisis. I suspect that the news will be that I am either close to or have slipped over into the wonderful world of Diabetes. I have no one to blame but myself (and poor genetics) if that turns out to be the problem.

Whatever it is I will deal with it when I have to. K. I have to run off to meeting, meetings and more meetings. I'll come back to comment later.

Greetings, Rennie. Welcome aboard!

September 19: National Butterscotch Pudding Day
September 20: In England, this was traditionally the time for picking hops.

He could have taken her but that is mommy daughter time.

Woke up at 3 am and just couldn't go back to sleep so I cooked lol. Pot of Chile, pot of potato soup. Since I had this wonderfully burst of energy I cleaned house, ironed the sheets and finished the laundry. After finishing all this, I took a nice nap. Now, everything is done and I am sitting here trying to think of something to do.

Melody
The things you find to tell us lol.

Holly
:wave:right back at you.

Madcat
I found out a long time ago. Do NOT worry early to avoid the rush ( this is still one of my big problems ). Could be nothing. Sometimes tests just need to be redone.

Shad
I have a wonderfully home life. This is because I run the roost with a whip lol You can tell my children live in fear of me. You can tell this by the way they roll their eyes at me when I tell them to do something lol.

ceejay52 09-17-2007 03:48 PM

Madcat-don't fret to much over the recall. I've been recalled several times. If it had been urgent he' probably left word with his nurse to inform you.

Shad-Wish we had a 17 million dollar view. Enjoy the solidtude while you can.

Mel--Glad you are feeling better today also.

Ruth--Yikes--Another pair of glasses.

Shy Moment--Welcome to our group. Hope you like it here.

My trip to my uncles was good. Today is flying by but I've got a lot done.

Had to call my boss earlier about upping the dosages. We's slowed down a lot since the rain.

I've found out one thing this week end. I added beef back into my diet and got sick. (IBS) The doctor said there could be a possiblity that I had food allergies. I'm thinking he may be right.

Shad 09-17-2007 07:45 PM

Morning all,
Lovely morning here in Perth. Now watch the rain come and stuff it all up. Guess what! My co-worker from Fiji has finally figured out the word work. He slaved away all day yesterday instead of sloping off under the nearest coconut palm. When I asked - C, what put the rocket up the Khyber Pass, he just said that he always works like this. Talk about a crazy mixed up kid. He has finally got his ticket home for the birth of his baby. I've talked him into 10 days. He was just going to go for the weekend!!!! :yikes: :faint: What happens if the baby doesn't arrive on time? What happens if the baby decides to come early. What happens if....... Ah well she has plenty of family at home to support her. Ever thought she might want the husband there at this time???? I'll make a snag out of this guy yet. I still have 4 months of the project to run!!!
Anyway, if all goes well, I will not need to work this weekend at all. Yaaahooo.

Happy - busy little bee. How's the back and shoulders today.

Madcat - Doctors must be the most obtuse lot on earth. Mine does the same to me. I ring the surgery and the receptionist tells me that she can't divulge information over the phone and that I must speak with the doctor and no she can't put me through - doesn't matter that I am in Perth, Groote or wherever, the doctor wants to see me within 2 weeks. When I get there, having spent an hour or two in the most UNCOMFORTABLE waiting room in the world, I have a raised blood sugar level!!! It's nothing to worry about and everything to be aware about! Pffffffft. The blood sugar levels are up simply because I ate 2 mangoes while waiting to see the doctor - all his fault, if he had seen me straight away, these things wouldn't happen.
Hope your troubles are just as trivial as mine were.

Mel - you always make me feel better about my failures and woes in the weight business. I'm trying hard, but it does get boring from time to time. Motivation slips away and I just lose the plot. Has someone seen my plot?? I must admit I was riveted with the daily information. I'll pass on the 19th, but I've seen the hops drying in the oasthouses of Kent and Sussex. Interesting stuff - stinks but.... and true British beer is NOT THAT EXCITING. There I've said it aloud.

Rennie - I thought kids always did that - isn't it teen talk for "Oh no, she's doing the Mum thing again". One thing I do like about my doctors office is that he has a sign on the wall that says:
LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO AVENGE YOURSELF ON THE KIDS
I have every intention of carrying that out.

Ceejay - there is a marinade for red meat that one of the women here sent around. It is supposed to remove all the additives from the meat. I'll fish it out, but quite frankly, if beef makes you feel like that, you are better off without it, additives, marinade or not. I'd rather go vegetarian than try to eat something I hated and which made me sick.

Okay, time to go and sort out the children. I'll be back later.

Hollyhock 09-17-2007 10:04 PM

Welcome Rennie!!!!

MELODY525 09-18-2007 08:10 AM

RENNIE~ MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST HIRE YOU AS OUR CHEF. WE ALL LOVE SOUPS AND HOMECOOKED MEALS!! YUM!! BUSY DAY YOU HAD AND I BET IT WASN'T EVEN NOON WHEN YOU FINISHED! :faint:

CEEJAY~ BEEF IS MY MEAT OF CHOICE BUT FOR A FEW YEARS NOW I CAN'T SEEM TO DIGEST IT....JUST LAYS LIKE A LUMP IN MY STOMACH. I ALWAYS WONDERED WHY???????

SHAD~ 4 MORE MONTHS??? NEVER REALIZED THIS JOB WAS SO LONG. WHEN THAT GUY GOES HOME I HOPE SHE HAS THE BABY ON TIME....IMAGINE HIM ASKING HER EVERY 5 MINUTES "ARE YOU READY?"....JUST SO HE CAN GET BACK TO WORK. MAYBE HE'S A WORKAHOLIC?! :lol3: AS FAR AS THE WEIGHT IS CONCERNED...I REALLY THINK A BUNCH OF US HAVE A GENETIC PRECLUSION FOR LOSING THOSE LAST POUNDS. I HAVE SEEN THIS IN TOO MANY WOMEN OF OUR STATURE. WISH I WAS WRONG BUT I THINK WE BOTH AGREE IT WOULD TAKE EXTREME DEDICATION TO GET THERE AND WE ARE JUST TOO BUSY -ING TO THE RHYTHM OF LIFE!! :belly:

THERE IS A HUGE CRANE OUTSIDE MY LIVINGROOM WINDOW. WE NEED MAJOR REPAIRS ON OUR CONCRETE ROOF AND THEY ARE BEGINNING THE JOB TODAY. SHOULD BE INTERESTING. THE GRANDSON IS ALREADY DISPLEASED WITH HAVING BEEN WOKEN UP. THE LOVELY SMELL OF FALL MIXED WITH DIESEL FUMES WAS COMING IN SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I SHUT THE WINDOWS.
WE ARE SURROUNDED BY TRUCKS AND IT WILL MAKE FOOD SHOPPING AND GETTING THE BUS NEAR ENOUGH VERY DIFFICULT WITH SO MANY SENIORS GOING SO I CANCELED WITH WILLY. I HAVE PLENTY AND JEN CAN GET SOMETHING IF I NEED IT. I HAVEN'T STOPPED SNEEZING SINCE I GOT UP....AND I AM NOT NORMALLY A SNEEZING KINDA GAL. I'LL RUN THE A/C ON FAN TO GET WHATEVER IS IN HERE OUT! :tantrum: THE PERILS OF MELINE!
HAPPY TUESDAY! :moped:

happy2bme 09-18-2007 08:55 AM

Good morning ladies,

It's September 18. Looks like I still have time to prepare for the upcoming holiday festivities that Mel outlined for the month

The back and shoulders are doing better. Thanks for asking Shad. I am just under alot of duress it seems lately. I came home from work last night (on the late side) giving off a big old rant to the DH. Why is it I have to spend 3 times longer doing something (not that I have the time mind you) so that I can continually catch and point out the sloppiness that others seem to get away with until it's pointed out to them. I guess my frustation is at starting the day behind and getting more behind as the day rolls by instead of making headway. And being stressed stiffens things up so the body hurts and being stressed keeps you fat. :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum: It is not so easy to say - well just let it roll off your back.

Ewww Mel - diesel fumes. I know what you're talking about. Ick, ick, stinky. Stay inside and protect those nostrils. I'm sure the roof work will drag out for days on end. I made meatloaf last night and some rice - thought of you. :D

Shad - hope the weather holds up for you so that you can get outside for a walk or run. You should be entering the change of seasons too, no? Wish you could come work over here too but you'd get frustrated too with the state of things tho it sounds like the frustration is universal.

Ceejay - I never thought about a beef sensitivity. Like most people I've cut back to only eating it once a week for dinner. You bring up an interesting point. Beef too is more fatty than poultry or fish - do you think it might be the fat that is bothering you?

Rennie - you iron the sheets? :yikes: God luv yah woman. I had to drag the ironing board out the other day to press the wrinkles out of a new pair of pants. I even washed them 3 times hoping to get the wrinkles out that way but no luck. Never was fond of ironing - maybe because I'm left handed and it's awkward. I would like to bow gently and tip my hat at you as a parent. I cheer any one who is a bit stern with their kids. Stern but with love because after all, once you grow up life still isn't fair and you don't get everything you want, right? Too many over priviledged kids today - I applaud those who are trying to do the right thing. :cp:

Madcat - hope the diagnosis isn't diabetes. Perhaps you should try the WW core plan for a while. I should do that myself. I have found the sugars to be an issue too - not just the sweet stuff but the carby things that make sugar spikes seem to be a preference of mine. Maybe we're just drawn to stuff that's not good for us? Anyway, hope youfind out what's going on soon. As the others have said those :censored: doctors like to diddle with us all the time.

 & to Carla, Painter, Holly, Ruth, Meadow and the rest of the crew. I should be on my way. Have a good one today.

happy2bme 09-18-2007 08:56 AM

OMG Mel     THAT'S HYSTERICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shy Moment 09-18-2007 09:17 AM

Morning everyone

Not with my daughter. If she doesn't want to do something with me she says so lol.

Am feeling a bit better, didn't try to cough a lung up last night.

Holly
Hello, thank you for the welcome

Melody
I have always loved to cook. Doesn't seem like that big a deal to me. Even when I had this stupid job that I worked 10 hours a day mon-fri and 12 on sat. I still had full meals on the table at dinner time. Was pretty lucky I started work at 5:30 am was still home as the kids were getting off the school bus. Baking on the other hand I have never been thrilled with. I do bake bread every weekend but other than that, cookies and things like that take to much time. I don't have time to stand around until a cookie is done lol. What is wrong with you yum mm diesel fuel and the smell of eggs cooking in the morning. Isn't that your favorite lol.

Happy2bme

Of course I iron sheets and curtains too lol can't stand a wrinkle. I use both hands equally well. Well, almost equally well, since I broke my left hand years ago I can't write with it as well as the right hand now. Other than that I use both of them equally well. My husband laughs, I have everything set up for a left handed person and that makes it hard for anyone to do anything but me. Ummmm dear, turn the iron board around the other way lolol the iron doesn't care which hand you use lol. About my kids, I am their mother not their friend lol. We can be friends again once they have had children lol. Thank you. it means a lot when someone lets you know it is ok to tell your kids no. So many these days have never taught their children that word.

ceejay52 09-18-2007 04:03 PM

Reenie--I'd have more wrinkles in the sheets if I ironed them. The chili sounds good.

Mel--This is the second good laugh I have had today. Thanks. I've been wanting open my windows, but around here the farmers are polluting the air with their defoliants for the cotton and beans. It really bothers my sinuses when they do this. I got a good whiff of the stuff this morning going to the car.

Happy--I'm not sure why the beef did me this way. Yes,stress does cause one to be fat, the cortisol hormone. I know the feeling that you are under now. Everyone seems to get away with it other than me.

Shad--You're co-worker must be on maternity leave!

Hope every one has heard about the lettuce that Dole's is having to recall. It has E-coli.

My first laugh came this morning. I ran a computer virus scan last night and low and behold there was a trojan virus. I called my boss to inform him.
This morning he asked asked me who had been on the trojan web page. Yep he's thinking "the trojans". I told him this was a virus. He doesn't work on computers enough to know better. MEN!

Hi to Holly, Meadow, Carla, Madcat.

happy2bme 09-18-2007 07:35 PM

Searching for a song for today

Then I read Ceejay's post. She does live in the middle of cotton country - those cotton bushes are cool looking from the side of the road driving by but not so nice to have to pick.

In the style of Creedence Clearwater Revival...

Cotton Fields

When I was a little bitty baby
My mama would rock me in the cradle,
In them old cotton fields back home;

CHORUS2:
It was down in Louisiana,
Just about a mile from Texarkana,
In them old cotton fields back home.

CHORUS3:
Oh, when them cotton bolls get rotten
You can't pick very much cotton,
In them old cotton fields back home.

happy2bme 09-18-2007 07:38 PM

Oh no Ceejay - boss man didn't think they were THOSE Trojans, did he? :o :o :o :lol3: What is a defoilant used for?

Yes Rennie - I do know about flipping the ironing board around - but the cord still drags over the item and smushes it up. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

I find that I use my right hand when I need strength - like in bowling or holding the bag of groceries and use my left for dexterity - like unlocking the door while balancing groceries on the right hip.

I love my hubby but when he starts his pool/billiards league it's like having 3 hours to myself to do whatever I please. Guess who's doing the happy dance right now? Eat what I want. Watch whatever I want on TV. Yak on the phone all night long. Too bad I am almost at the limit of my WW points today so we're sticking to the food plan, there's nothing on TV that I want to see and I brought a big pile of work home with me tonight. But I have the option and that's what matters :D

Shad, I am heartbroken. I seem to have lost the necklace you gave me. I don't understand it. It could not have slipped off of my neck and it had a pretty tight hook on it. I wore it last week with a new blouse which went absolutely perfect with it. I was meeting a friend for lunch and I stopped in the restroom before I left and I had it on there because it flipped over and I adjusted it. I met my friend and she's in the middle of this engrossing story at the table when I realize my necklace is no longer on my neck. Must have been rather odd from her perspective as I am listening to her when all of a sudden I looked startled, reached for my neck, started furiously patting my boobs, pulled my shirt away and looked down my bra and then leaned over and looked under the table. She is used to me being odd so she never missed a beat and kept talking. It wasn't until I excused myself and walked to the front door that she stopped talking. I retraced all of my steps but didn't find it. Was hoping that I lost it at work but no sign of it. Now I'll just have to eagle eye the women at work and if I see someone with my necklace on... :chin: anyway I am upset and it was really different and I liked it alot. Something told me that morning not to wear it but as I said it went so nicely with the new shirt. Aw well, at least I have the nice smelling soaps :D

Going to get something for dinner and then a short chat with the Mom before I hit the paper wall. See yah

Shad 09-18-2007 07:47 PM

Morning all,

Yeah Ceejay and if you checked with him, he would say, I KNOW that, I was just testing you. You need firewalls and detectors that will tell you when things are coming your way. My one at home is very cock of the hoop. It tells me about spyware, virus, worms and other nasties and the computer is not even plugged into the internet. I haven't got round to getting the phone line in yet. I have checked. It's telling lies.
My co-worker will be on Paternity leave - yes they do have it here. However you only get paid for 2 weeks off, so they all save to have the month off.

For those of you with beef problems try this and let me know if it does anything for you. This is from our Change Manager:

My naturopath gave me this recipe and it is awesome!

Mix together:

Olive oil
Soy sauce
Fresh garlic, peeled and chopped
Fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
Rosemary (I just use dried, although I've bought some fresh stuff and am growing it at present)
Turmeric

Marinate meat for about 30 mins-1 hour before pan frying. I sometimes don't even wait for 30 mins and just leave it for 5 mins and it seems to be just as good. I usually add the marinade to the pan when cooking and this makes a yummy sauce.

Very tasty and apparently it takes away all the carcinogens in red meat.

Happy eating!

There ya go. Recipe from a naturopath down under. Might I also suggest that you look out for Organic beef or even the Free range stuff. No it's not eggs Shad, you've got the wrong end of the stick again. It's called something like that and it doesn't come from a feed lot. I saw feed lots in Arizona and they aint no better than the ones over here. I feel like going up and shooting the cattle just to put them out of their misery. Miserable animals make for miserable meat.

Happy - It's no problem asking and also, I have the same problem from time to time. It's stress and I am living it as you are. And the frustration of finishing the day more behind than you started must be one of the greatest frustrations of all time. I really don't think I did a stitch of work yesterday apart from bringing the Statisticians bible up to date. They don't care about the problems only the percentages and for my sins I jack them up somewhat to look a bit better than they are. Then I take the whip (I use your whipcracking smilie) and deliver a broadside to my team. The Fijian NZer, laughs and settles back under the tree, the Malaysian girl frets and worries she is not doing well enough, the South African packs her bags and goes down to her other job and I stare out the window at the view, think of you lot and internally giggle myself to sane again. Life's like that.

Rennie - you're not Martha Stewart in another life are you? I hope you don't take offence at us poking a bit of fun. Ironing sheets sounds like my Mother. She was also a demon on the vaccuum cleaner (I can never spell that word) I am in awe of your ironing and cooking skills. Also I must pass on my congrats for the mothering. If more people instilled some loving discipline then we would not be at the place we are now. I was watching an item on the Today Tonight show last night. It was about high school teachers being beaten up in school and the kids behaviour. I was totally disgusted. And then to top all, the mother of a 13yr old boy had the gall to stand there and plead with the school to take her son back - he's done nothing wrong (apart from ride over several kids in the school yard and terrorise the primary school kids next door and swear at the teachers and duck school as often as possible and when he can't, disrupt class continually. No he hasn't done much wrong.) She only wants him at school so he isn't beating her up - well that's my guess. I brought my kids up with the mantra that for every right they had, they had a responsibility not to abuse the right or the rights of others. I've lived by it as well and it doesn't seem to have done any of us any harm. Okay - off my :soapbox:
I'm so glad you are feeling better.

Mel - that's pretty funny about the dog. Don't know where you find all these pictures or dream up the words.   Wonder what Ruth has got to say about that one!
I've been looking on websites for work in Canada or the States - well you never know. Life is sometimes like that. It comes around, things happen and goes around. Put out a few feelers here and there, grab hold of some of my contacts. Anything can happen. We could be neighbours!!!!! It can be frustrating work - as Happy well knows - but I like the lightbulb effect (which usually only comes seconds before the trainers mind snaps and murder is done).

With that, I'm sure I've got other things to do. I will have to kick the father-to-be and wipe up the tears from others, but we must do what we must do.

See ya

Shy Moment 09-18-2007 08:37 PM

Martha Stewart lolol I am more like Maxine look thru my posts and read the one that is titled something about just because we are Christians doesn't mean we cant have fun.

Shad 09-18-2007 09:09 PM

I'm at work and it is now 9.00am and the Malaysian young lady hasn't yet shown. Her time keeping is worse than the roosters ever were.

Mel - you certainly have some far away places in your mind :lol3: :lol3: Go and look at the wildflowers of Perth and get some peace into your tortured mind. It's quite often disappointing looking out the window at the local uniformed mob of builders. Fat, bald, bandy legged, cigarettes dangling from the lip, hard hat askew. They should just pull it down over the face and be done with it.

And I quite enjoy Maxine. She's good for the soul

With that I'm gone :genie:

Shad 09-19-2007 12:18 AM

Happy - I'm sorry if you have lost the necklet. But not to worry, better than losing the friendship I'd say. And it can be replaced, well not the exact one, but similar one. I can't remember the colours in it, but I will look out for one in the markets here.
Talking of soaps, I found a place in Fremantle last week. It's not cheap, but is so clever. Here's the website. Go and have a look at the products/ luscious cakes and remember that they are soap.

If you ever wondered why she is in a wheelchair its because her legs ran out of puff trying to keep up with her mind!!! :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: - oops sorry Mel ================= (splat)

Ruthxxx 09-19-2007 08:24 AM

Quickie! I totally agree with that dog's attitude. I should print it out and stick it on the fridge.

'm still coming to life here although the Girls are at it full steam! It's Day 7 for Lucy and there are no side effects from her chemo so we may have dodged the bullet for a while. Two more weeks before the next one and I do think her breathing is a tad better.

My cold has settled in so I am skipping gym and hoping for a quiet day. I've already cancelled today's sandwich making marathon as they won't want folks with colds contaminating the 450 box lunches that have to be at the Ploughing Match by 10:30. The weather has been wonderful and the crowds are huge. I am trying to avoid going there.

My first quilting class was yesterday and I've already learned lots of things. I did get a new and lighter sewing machine - not as smooth as my old (1975) one but works fine for the classes. I love my old machine but it's way to heavy to carry around! The beginners' project is a table runner. I don't know if I'll use it but it is definitely a candidate for my "giftable" box.

Donna come to clean this morning so I'd best do a bit of tidying. If my cold capsule works and I feel a bit more human, I will go to town to the optometrist. Did I tell you Lucy ate yet another pair of glasses on Sunday? Oy!

happy2bme 09-19-2007 08:45 AM

Morning chicks,

A quilting class sounds like fun Ruth. On behalf of 450 strangers, let me thank you for not making their sandwiches today  The worst illness I ever got was from catered food at a party - most of the guests got terribly, terribly ill and we figured someone who was preparing the food must have contaminated it. So thank you, as Mel would say - it's the thought that counts ;)

Eee gads Holly, my hair is standing on end just reading your post. :yikes: Here's to a quiet hour and a nice cup of coffee once the door closes and they are on the bus :coffee:

Mel, I'm still laughing. I want to press help you "press" your clothes - will you let me borrow a spare chair? Eee gads number 2 - a bunch of people like my mom ticked off and milling about on the bus    Feet's get me movin' outta dat place

Shad the necklace had shimmery blue-greens in it. Not so much the colors as the sentimental value I am mourning. Those soaps are quite interesting. If I had a bath with a big expanse of cabinetry, I would consider some for decorations. However I/we have decided retirement can't come soon enough so I will have to learn to re-evaluate every purchase/expense going forward and try to conserve the funds - so I will have to try and mold the soaps myself. Hard to do when you use liquid body washes  As a school project long ago we were taught to whittle using a bar of soap. I made a mean fish as I recall. Good luck finding jobs in America here - that would be nice for all of us :D :crossed:

The coffee is gone and an early morning meeting awaits me so off I go for another day of thrills and excitement. Will compare notes later with Shad to see who had the more fun day :D

MELODY525 09-19-2007 08:54 AM

MELODY525 09-19-2007 09:08 AM

A WARNING TO ALL UNWARY MEN:
Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties and local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman. Many females use a date rape drug on the market called "Beer."

The drug is found in liquid form and is available anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, or from taps and in large "kegs". Beer is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and sleep with them. A woman needs only to get a guy to consume a few units of Beer and then simply ask him home for no strings attached sex.

Men are rendered helpless against this approach. After several beers, men will often succumb to the desires to sleep with horrific looking women to whom they would never normally be attracted. After drinking beer, men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the night before, often with just a vague feeling that "something bad" occurred.

At other times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's savings, in a familiar scam known as "a relationship." In extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer term form of servitude and punishment referred to as "marriage." Men are much more susceptible to this scam after beer is administered and sex is offered by the predatory females.

Please! Forward this warning to every male you know. If you fall victim to this "Beer" scam and the women administering it, there are male support groups where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter with similarly victimised men. For the support group nearest you, just look up "Golf Courses" in the phone book.

Just popping into say hello--More stuff to do.

Shy Moment 09-19-2007 07:20 PM

Melody
Darn mine didn't drink beer and still doesn't. He made me give him a wedding ring to get sex from him lol.

Shad 09-19-2007 07:38 PM

Morning all, or should that be mourning all,

It's with great sorrow and ineptitude that I declare I have had enough of this challenge and will spend the next week burying it in the back of the closet. Motivation is not there, I'm finding it so difficult to get up in the morning and exercise and food is simply there to be eaten in quantities. I'm not feeling great either which doesn't help. I think I need a dose of sun and whatever in equal quantities. Even the 17 million dollar view is not helping. So today I'm not eating - or at least trying not to eat - much to see if it will help with the plumbing which is acting like an a*sehole - sorry if that was too much info !

And then I will go and get on with the day - more of the same as yesterday which was little achieved and a huge pile of questions and problems on my plate. Yesterdays triumph was that my team had the first fully signed off documentation - signed off by the subject matter experts and the Business. That's an achievement since we started last and are now getting some results that the others are not getting. Must be something to do with the :bomb: I threatened them with the other week or its more likely that the man in power (terribly heavy smoker) took me at my word when I suggested he might like to take some outside and check them out when he went out for a smoke. That way he could stay out longer and clear his desk at the same time. Beats me why he didn't think of it in the first place. Comfy chair, cup of coffee, smokes and my masterpieces - what more could a man want!

Mel - of course we would notice the difference. Sanity, or the lack, of comes in many forms. American accents still stand out round here. Canadian ones are more common. Is that saying that the Canucks are more insane??
Thanks for the beep before the =========<splat>. But I'm getting a bit deaf as well as blind as well as tired and thick.

Rennie - I like Maxine because she is so cynical. She's says what I think a lot of the time. There are times, even in WA, where one has to be a little more politically correct - excuse me, would you mind moving to the left a little - is somewhat better than - shift your middling brown ***!!! Not as satisfying mind you.

Holly - I'll send you over some of the new and more comfortable earplugs - you may never want to take them out!

Happy - I promise to have a good day if you will. Actually the team hasn't been too bad lately. Yesterday I had to suffer a bout of can and can't from the younger two (maybe I'll keep those ear plugs Holly). Then a dose of South African pique at not being able to do something on the system, but other than that, they are pulling together a bit better now. Of course massive doses of chocolate fish smooths the myriad of crossed paths. They are getting the idea that if I call them by their full names and not abbreviating them ie Melody instead of Mel, they have overstepped the mark and should shut up before disaster looms. It's like being back with the kids at home in their teenage years.

Ruth, I'm so glad Lucy is still wending her merry way along life's path. I don't think there is too much that is going to get that dog down. Sorry to hear that you haven't been well, and good on ya for not peeling them darned eggs (aigs). Anyway, it's not as if you don't do enough for the community.
Hope we get to see pictures of the quilting when it is finished.

Okay, better buzz off and see if I can achieve something before the mob arrives. I'll check in on you at various times of the day. Don't say you weren't warned.
