Good morning ladies,
Having a bit of a problem getting the site to respond so I have burned about 10 minutes "waiting" and now don't have much time to post. It's dark and gloomy. We're getting some much needed rain right now. Gray days sure make the pillow and bed more comfy, don't they? ;) Walked out on the porch to toss out some recyclables in the bin and it was actually refreshing outside. The hummingbirds are going to town stoking up for their upcoming journey south. They are emptying feeders within 24 hours. That's alotta sugar! I just bought a 10 pound bag and which will probably only last into next week. Mr. Feral cat survived the 3 days we were gone on the tub of dry cat food I left out but he's sure making up for it now that we're home. He's coming around 3 to 4 times a day to eat. Does he have a tapeworm? Or is he just bulking up for the oncoming winter? Between sugar for the hummers, cat food for 2 cats, seed for the birds - it's like having 2 more people on the grocery bill! Yesterday was a brutal day at work. I'd like to know why others can't be responsible for themselves, yet they can be slackers and but the pressure on us to tidy up their messes **hands on hips, harumph!*** :rollpin: Madcat - congrats on being 3 pounds down! :celebrate: keep up the good work. Hope that the blood tests come out ok. Was going to suggest that you drink lots of water before your blood test but it seems like you're doing it already. I have tiny veins too (the only tiny thing on me besides skinny hair  ) so I consider the mark of a good phlebotomist (sp ??) one who can stab me, get what she needs before I even think enough to say ouch  Shad, I hope you are feeling better. Always a bummer having a cold. I'm proud of you for working out. That's a really funny story about the Elvis girl. Imagine the thrill you've been bringing people - here she was happy in her T-shirt and she runs into you and sees real PICTURES. And let's not forget Miss "HowYouWancherAigs". :D Don't work too hard! Bon Jovi and Kalan in the same week! Holly's in Heaven :D - whistling her way through her chores. Mel - sorry you met the rude people at the mall. Perhaps it was meant to be to protect your money. Kind of hard though when you can't pick and chose where you'd like to go but have to settle for who can get you where. Sounds like the mall closest to me - I just don't go there anymore. Hope you have better days ahead. Hello Meadow-are you discoing through the house? There's worse things you know - I always said that music was good for getting one full of energy :dancer: Mel and Carla - thanks for all those witty sayings. I have several favorites! Hate to cut this short but DH was just talking to me about something and now that I look at the clock it's time to run out of here so off I go. Happy Tuesday! |
The weather is gorgeous. It was 66 degrees this morning. Tomorrow prediction is 57. My body says thanks.
Food yesterday went as planned. Exercise was walking a mile using the pedometer. I can do this. I have to do this to be healthy. My starting weight for Monday was 186 after the binge eating but this morning I’m down to 184.4. I’m going to try to incorporate some of the foods that I have a tendency to binge on duriing the week ends during the week. I’m hoping that this will eliminate those binge eating week ends. We'll see. Madcat--WTG, those 3 pounds lost. :bravo: on a job well done. Happy--I finally broke down and bought a subcription to 3fc. I don't have those long waits any more. Holly--You sure do keep busy. Take some time for yourself. |
Having a good in office/housework day and will every Tues for 9-3. Getting it all figured out. Seems much less impossible. Loving how much hubby is stepping up. Lightens my load( and my heart) considerably.
A little Kalan for this aft! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPA4w8VE9VA Congrats Mrs Mad!!!!!! |
SHAD~ YES THE COUNTRY WOULD BE A FREAT RELIEF BUT PROBABLY BRING ON OTHER PROBLEMS:riofl: GLAD THE HEAD FEELS BETTER AND HOPE THE TROAT STUFF WON'T LAST LONG EITHER. IS IT SUMMER THERE YET????

I THOUGHT THEY SAID THE HURRICANE FIZZLED OUT AND WOULDN'T EVEN DUMP MUCH! THOSE WEATHERMEN LIE! :rain: I THINK IT WASN'T ONLY THE MALL BUT THE 9/11 ANNIVERSARY TODAY THAT GOT THE BETTER OF ME THIS WEEK. I DID TELL THE DRIVER THAT MALL IS OFF MY LIST OF FAVORITES....HE HATES IT TOO FOR THE SAME REASONS AND NOW HE TELLS ME HE WONDERED WHY I LIKED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE! :faint: JEN REFUSES TO GO THERE EVEN WHEN SHE IS WITH RICHIE! I WENT DOWNSTAIRS FOR AWHILE BECAUSE THEY HAD A SMALL CEREMONY BUT LEFT BEFORE IT ENDED. JUST TOO SAD. FAMILIES HERE HAD LOVED ONES WHO VOLUNTEERED WITH THE SEARCHING AND CLEANUP THAT ARE NOW SICK AND HAVE CANCER. THIS STUFF IS GOING TO GO ON FOREVER....UNTIL THE LAST PERSON DIES. THEY'RE SAYING WE SHOULD ALL BE TESTED IN A 3 MILE RADIUS BUT WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL THAT MAKE? I WOULD RATHER NOT KNOW TILL THE END:rofl: NOTHING WILL CHANGE WHAT HAS ALREADY PASSED. JEN AGRESS WITH ME SO WE CAME BACK UP HERE TO GET ON WITH LIFE. :running: :moped: I NEED TO FOOD SHOP LATER IN THE WEEK. DON'T WANT TO RUN OUT AND THEN BEGIN ORDERING CHINESE FOOD! :lol3: HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A GREAT DAY. HAVE A NICE NIGHT TOO :cloud9: |
Morning all,
The throat is much much better and the nose has loosened up enough to be a nuisance and I am sleeping better, so life is looking up. It will be a better day today even if it is windy, raining and cold. Spring might have sprung, but it hasn't landed yet! I was just saying to one of my fellow workers this morning that I don't mind wind, I don't mind rain, and I can live with cold, but not all three at once if you don't mind Mr Weatherman. I have a nice surprise coming up on Saturday. My friend and mentor S is working up in the Pilbara and they have given her a weekend off for good behaviour so she is coming to Perth. This lady taught me just about everything I know about my job. I haven't seen her for a couple of years since I have been working in the boonies and she has been at home and semi retired in Brisbane. How they got her to do six weeks in the back of beyond is a mystery. Maybe Rio Tinto offered to pay off her mortgage or something. The lady doesn't come cheap. So anyway, on Saturday we are going to meet up and spend the day sightseeing in Freemantle and surrounds. I'm about to go hire a car for the day. We were going to use the train, but with the weather supposedly not going to be great, it might be a good idea to have a car handy so we can zip out and about. I'm excited! Madcat - I've had the Gypsy Kings playing away here. Seems like siesta is just around the corner. Pass the Tapas and the sherry please. (Pun intended). Bit congrats on the weight loss. 3lbs is a fine effort and a great start to the challenge. Enzymes???? - like the enzymes in a certain washing powder?? crikey. Hope you get some answers soon. I know exactly what my sinus are allergic too and it is dust. As if I could get away from dust!!!! Ruth - Thoughts are with you for Lucy and yourself today. Hope the vet comes up with some hope for her or something that will slow the progress. Slow down woman, you make me tired. Mind you, keeping up with you would keep me young and spirited for some time to come. Happy - you are right, dark gloomy skies make for an instant reaction to grab a cup of tea, go back to bed, find a book and snuggle for the duration. Unfortunately I have to go to work. Ceejay - your challenge sounds like it is going well. Exercise goals are good. It's strange how we can hold it all in during the week and then have everything hang loose on the weekend. I do it often and swear about it often as well. Maybe we should not do the grocery shopping until Sunday afternoon so we don't have anything to binge on during the weekend!!! Holly is tiptoeing through the tulips and having a great time. Good to see. Looooooooong may this phase last. Mel - I wonder whether the chair would outrun the bull in the paddock! And the smell of new mown hay may well set off the allergies. Not to mention the bitey insects and nosey neighbours. Well it was a bit of a dream probably not to be taken seriously but then it's nice to dream. I presume the bus driver was the other man I met in your building. The one with the dog and the problem? Seems like his memory is down the gurgler as well. It's so sad to hear that 9/11 is still causing so many problems for so many. Just goes to show that not enough research goes into the things we put in our homes and offices and what effects it has on the human physiology. True no one would expect to have a plane parked in the office along with the attendent avgas fuels but that isn't an excuse for putting toxic substances into everyday life and calling it furniture or plates or whatever. Right oh - well my challenge is going fairly well. Once past the aeroplane bloat and the sinus bloat, I'm down about 1.5lb from the beginning of the month. This morning I woke before the alarm and leapt out of bed (lies, lies, lies, staggered is more like it) and straight into 30 minutes with Jillian. Got through it a lot better today, but I'm a real puddle at the end of the workout. I'm going to carry on with this one for the rest of the week, then I'll try her other dvd - shape up back. This one is shape up front. I figure something has to happen as far as the flab goes eventually. Well I hope it will. Better go do something. See ya |
 I SEE YOUR EGG IS LIT MISS SHAD. I JUST GOT OUT OF THE SHOWER AND HEARD MY MAILBOX CLICK WITH ANOTHER EFC POST MESSAGE AND I THOUGHT IT MIGHT JUST BE YOU! I FORGOT TO ANSWER YOUR PREVIOUS QUESTION...SORRY TO SAY THAT NO THE SECOND PARCEL HAS NOT ARRIVED. WHEN I DID QUESTION THE POSTMAN HE HAD NOT SEEN IT AND SAYS THAT TUBULAR PACKAGES SOMETIMES GET HELD UP AND COME VERY LATE SOOOOOOOO...........NOT SURE WHAT TO THING! WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE.
GLAD THE DVDS ARE GOING WELL AND HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON. YOUR CHALLENGE SEEMS TO BE WORKING OUT VERY WELL....CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALSO. EFCHICKS ARE LOSING POUNDS THIS MONTH!! |
oh poop, well okay. We will wait a little longer. Problem is, I don't think I have my receipt anymore, but I'll check next time I go home which is I think in October.
Right - flea in ear of one of the roosters around here, and some 'friendly' advice for another, then I think I might be done for the day. I might even get some work in. Now that will make a change. |
Whodathunkit? I was planning a trip to the gym this morning and the darn car won't start! CAA is on the way but I am astonished to realize I miss my workout. Luckily I can borrow one of Dr. Bob's cars - not the Bentley - to get to my 11 AM appointment in Ottawa.
Lucy and I will see the vet oncologist. (Her name is Dr. Bravo - a good sign, right?) I hope by the end of the day to have all the options to help me make a decision. In the meantime Lucy is carrying on being herself! She's miffed at the moment because she can't have breakfast in case they do bloodwork. We will visit my friend Shirl when we are in town to break the trip a bit and give her some goodies there. Glorious rain last night so it's a fresh morning and I don't need to water the garden. Gotta city up a bit. See you later. |
Good morning ladies,
It's off to the dentist for me this morning - just a cleaning so it shouldn't be bad. I will have to respectively ask Shad to be mindful of what she posts as far as work goes as I am starting to notice that when she gets "snowed under" it means the blizzard is soon headed my way  On more than one occasion you've been innundated with work and within a week or two my hair is standing on end. Such as it is right now. I am so far behind I might as well be in last month. Yesterday about 3pm I just raised my hands and gave it up to the spirits. No matter what I'm working on someone else will be looking for their item of interest. I was up until 1 am today to try and make up some of the time that I'll lose being at the dentist. Not that anyone forced me to work that late, but I did have some things due today. Oh well, things don't get done sitting here, do they? Time to hop in the shower and get ready to face the day. And it's downright chilly outside today. Amazing how quickly the temperatures switch over. But it feels good... Here's to a good day for all of us  - toasting you with an orange juice although it might set the tone better if it were a mimosa (orange juice and CHAMPAGNE  ) |
GOOD MORNING CHICKS!
THIS IS A FLY-BY POST. I AM GOING DOWN TO SIGN FOR MY CHECK:cheer: AND I HAVE A RIDE TO THE BANK/STORE. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY! SHAD~ SORRY ABOUT THE PARCEL...AND I DO HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME WITH S IN PERTH!! WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE!! RUTH HOPE THE CAR STARTS! WELL I AM OFF. BUS IS WAITING. :moped: |
 HELLO MIOSS HAPPY
GOOD LUCK AT THE DENTIST....I THOUGHT I FELT YOUR BREATH ON THE BACK OF MY NECK!!! :lol3: :lol3: |
forgot to watch the Biggest Looser last night.
Oh well. It will be there next week. If you want a good workout--rearrange your furniture. My shoulders are sore this morning. Food yesterday was on plan and I didn’t feel deprived of any food because I incorporated some “bad stuff”.(By that I mean the stuff I usually will binge on) My fat grams were still under 40 grams. Exercise consisted of 1 mile according to the pedometer. Tonight I have plans on going to the gym to walk on the treadmill or use the walking track upstairs for thirty minutes. It should not be as hot up on the track since it’s cooled off outside. I can sleep late in the morning. Speaking of sleep,I could not go to sleep until 1 a.m. this morning. I didn’t have caffiene yesterday either. It was to cool outside for the a.c. to kick on inside. I opened a window (just a crack) last night so the house would cool off. It was 56 on the bank display when I came to work. I stepped on the scale this morning and was shocked to see 181.8. Monday I weighed 186 and now down to 181.8. That’s another 2 pounds. This has to be fluid pounds. This is logical considering my problem wtth fluid. I need to stay on plan this week end as much as possible. It should be easier since I’ll be going to my uncle’s. |
Morning all,
Happy - just for you, I will not discuss work, except for the funny bits at least for today. I'll just get on with it and not whinge, throw wobblies, or get up peoples noses. Just for today anyway. Ceejay - going well there, a bit of bad stuff is not always bad for us. LindaT used to have a square of Dove dark choc every night. Not sure if she still does. Someone in the office brought back some Swiss chocolate from a recent holiday. I had a square of the nut variety but have decided that it is much to sweet for my tastes now. However that didn't stop the chocoholics from demolishing both blocks. Happy - good luck at the dentist. My list has diminished since the last visit and with a bit of luck after one more trip, there will only be cleans and 'advice' on what to do with the temporary filling. I would prefer to have an implant put in when the tooth is removed however, the price is formidable so it probably won't happen. I'd be happy with the Mimosa for breakfast. Could be a nice way to start the day. Ruth - oh dear. A gym junkie at our age!!!!! Surprising how quickly it actually gets under our skin right. Best of luck for Miss Lucy today and I just love the name of the Vet. We have a Dr Bite in our surgery and he doesn't!!!! Have fun in the city. Shame you are not using the Bently. Now wouldn't that be fun! You might like to prod Carla while you are in town? Lucy could give Zen some exercise. Oh no, she's away working somewhere isn't she? Well, that's about it. I've got to go sort out the deadlines for next week for the team and then see if I can meet some of my own. Have a fun filled day. Mel - |
Ouch!! I felt that prod all the way from the wilds of Oz.
I'm not working out of town, although this month there has been (and will be) more work in my life than I really enjoy. And the clean eating challenge has gone totally by the board - as a friend often says, 'I'm just not feeling it'. In fact, I'm not feeling like much of anything except booorrrriiinggg, which is why I think it's time for me to spare you all the daily moaning and take a little break from 3fc. There'll be plenty of lurking, of course... And I'll be back once inspiration hits and I finally have something to say. I'll be thinking of you all. Ruth, I do hope the appointment with the vet went well and you had positive news about treatment for Lucy. Time to feed the furballs. And for now, a big :grouphug: to all the lovely worldly chicks. |
So you didn't meet your challenge, doesn't mean you have to leave and lurk! We could all do with some encouragement from time to time. Specially down this end of town - but I'm not allowed to talk about work.
You can't feel anymore dumb and boring than I do at this point in time. I'm even considering taking the entire weekend off just to get out from under for a while. Don't know what I will do with the time but I'll think of something. Freo on Saturday, Araluen on Sunday maybe. |
Carla, don't you dare stay away! When we are off plan is when we need to be here!
Ceejay, water weight or not, it's a loss! Sorry about the sleeping problems. I hate that! Shad, I giggled get out from under comment. Aren't you always down under? I hope you have a good weekend and a break from all the work crap. MEL, I didn't realize those repercussions of 9/11. We were very sad here too although we sure weren't affected as much as folks in your area. I think that will always be a sad day. Happy, I can see the sparkle of your teeth from here. Madcat, Hollyhock, Roseblush, Meadow - big  Lucy had her first chemo treatment yesterday which is supposed to make her more comfortable. She gets another in three weeks. Don't worry about side effects too much - the dosage is very low. She may be tired, lose a bit of fur and have a digestive upset but the vet says likely not as she has age and her attitude on her side. My aim is to give her as good a time as possible until it's departure time. I'll try to stop going on and on about her. Today I will finally get at the picture boards for the open house (Ontario Doors Open) at the Church this Saturday. Luckily I have tons of photos of the Church and congregation going back to the early 1900's. We are going to supply refreshments but Claire is looking after that - she's a real Betty Baker, worse than me! Saturday night we have a surprise birthday party for Claire so I'll have some cooking to do for that....veggie tray and some dim sum type starters. Whoops! It's Thursday and time to tote the recycle stuff out to the road. I'm still in my robe but to heck with it! Have a lovely day. |
RUTH~ WHY WOULD YOU STOP GOING ON AND ON ABOUT HER....SHE IS PART OF THE MAINSTAY OF YOU LIFE. WE ALL HAVE SAD THINGS TO SHARE AND IF WE CAN'T TELL EACH OTHER WHERE ELSE CAN WE GO? SENDING HUGS TO ALL OF YOU
I WILL BE BACK TO CHAT GOTTA RUN. PATHMARK FOOD SHOPPING. BUT.... SHAD~ ON YOUR POST IT SAYS "MEL- " WAS THERE A FAILURE AS WHAT TO SAY??  REALLY GOTTA RUN NOW :moped: |
Good morning chicks.
I wrote a big long post just before midnight and I don't see it this morning! Must have turned into a pumpkin - boo hoo. I will try to summarize as I am running late as usual... Carla - please don't leave us. I do so much enjoy your sense of humor and perspective - it does wonders for my mental health. Please reconsider and if you feel you must lurk, we appreciate you letting us know what's going on instead of worrying and wondering. Shad - you KNOW I sincerely hope - that I was just teasing you about the work things. Sometimes it reminds me of the chaos theory - a butterfly flaps it's wings in Aus and it creates a wind tunnel that blows papers all over Happy's desk half way around the world  :df: I'm glad you're feeling better tho I do admire your steel courage to do a hard workout even when you're sniffling and coughing. I say go away for the weekend - even if it's to a modest place where you can just walk among nature and get a little peace and quiet. You know that after a series of long, long days eventually the body/brain just gives up in spite of what you'd rather do. Ruth - I wholeheartedly agree with what Mel said. Cripes, Lucy is family and if you can't talk about her here, well then what good are we? I enjoy hearing about her. Someone who eats the crotch out of panties and gives me a good belly laugh is ok in my book. :queen: What do you make for dim sum? Mel - did you get your check cashed and get the last of your money? Better shopping trip I hope? I just got a new set of pots and pans. Come on over and we'll cook up a storm! Shad can ply us with mimosas tho I have to figure out where I'd buy champagne in this goofy land - probably at the liquor store in the wine section. Ceejay - congrats on the pounds down. I fully support moving furniture around - it gives the impression of a whole new look about things. Isn't this cool weather delightful? I'm loving it. Sleeping better too. You brought up a good point about getting a subscription to 3FC to avoid the ads. I forgot about that - it gets really dreadful here, especially late at night. I may try that. Thanks for mentioning it. I had to cut the dental appt short yesterday. It was a new hygeinist - why do they always seem to come and go quickly in a dental office? She was young and sweet and very polite but gosh almighty - she was a little TOO enthusiastic with that scraper too. After several jumps when she hit sensitive points :yikes: it actually got to the point where reflex had me actually pulling away from her. She kept apologizing but never figured out that she was scraping too hard. Man it felt like she was scraping my skull - sorry if I'm giving you the heebee jeebies. I told her to stop, we were done and I wouldn't even let her polish my teeth. I'll do the job myself at home. And thus set in motion a chain of events in which nothing went according to plan yesterday. I am still behind but I am not stressing. Will figure out what the highest priority is, and work my way down from there. And with that, I had better save this and be on my way. Madcat, Meadow, Holly, Painter, Nae    |
I'm right in there with everyone else's comments to Carla. Don't leave all us all alone and unprotected. Baby, it's cold and scary out there alone! Stay and play with us. If you don't feel like keeping with the challenge, so what? We are the last to point fingers and laugh - well, ok, we’ll keep the finger pointing to a minimum. Sometimes it is time to fly and sometimes it's time to turn our attention to other things. Life interferes with our best intensions.
Likewise Shad go ahead and vent as much as you need to about work. Frankly, I find the stories amusing and horrifying at the same time. There is a reason consultants get paid more than full timers… if things weren’t FUBAR’d, they wouldn’t need us. Poor planning and then they throw a boatload of money at it – as if that makes time stand still or something. Happy~ Hey, I’m hoping encouraging Shad to vent really doesn’t have some sort of shadow effect on your workload. So I was going to ask how the new job was going but I guess that is the answer, eh? But are you at least happy you made the switch (even with the workload)? Do you see the light at the end of the tunnel? And Ruth, if you need to tell Lucy’s tale (tail?), we are here to listen. Though I have never met her, I still love Her Virtual Doggieness because I know what she means to you. Heck, if all we are allowed to do is pull happy smiley sunshine out of our a$$es then why wouldn’t we just stay home and talk to ourselves? Hope your Doors Open goes well. How many locations do you guys have opening? And what are you doing for it? It is such a neat program. Mel~ Hope the shopping trip went well and all the rude people got the heck out of your way. Maybe you need to add a big air horn to your traveling equipment. Thar she blows! Maybe a bullhorn? Wow, Ceejay, you managed to add in binge foods but not binge on them?? Good for you! That is so good. I find this fall weather plays havoc with sleep patterns. We come we talk, we don’t talk, sometimes we just throw in the occasional dumb comment, or a joke and there ya go. We are the Worldly Chicks, hear us type!! I’m off to do some work. ‘Cuz really, I get up, I go to the gym, I go to work, I go home. Now THAT is boring. |
Madcat, I spewed coffee over your "happy smiley sunshine out of our a$$es" and am running for a mirror to see if there is any in mine ready to pull out! Too funny! We have the Old Mill in Delta which is a National Historic site and then there's our Church which is on the the heritage tour and also part of the Ontario Doors Open initiative. It'll be a busy weekend and I'm hoping a cool one. My 1811 costume is scratchy fabric - fustian? Well named because I fustian hate it!
Happy, I would have complained loudly to the dentist! No wonder they don't last if all of them are like that. You know, yesterday it was the car; today my furnace refused to turn on. All I wanted was a little shot of warmth while I took my bath! I'll hit reset and hope it was just a glitch! This is not getting those pictures mounted ... outta here! |
Went to bed at a decent hour last night and my body clock woke me at 7 a.m this morning. I felt fully rested.
House work has began. Bathroom and kitchen has been cleaned and one load of laundry is through and another waiting to be put in the dryer. Exercise has been completed for the day in the form of riding the stamina bike for 30 minutes. I’ll be mowing the yard in a about an hour. The weather man has rain in the forecast and depending on the hurricane’s movements we may get torrential down pours later today and tonight with possible flooding. Yesterday was not a total wash out so to speak but I did go over my fat grams and I didn’t wear the pedometer so I don’t know if I completed my mile. Probably not, simply because my stomach didn’t feel right. Infact I think I dozed a couple of times at work. This is kinda unusal for me. I was going to wait until 11 to start mowing but I think I hear the neighbor’s lawn mower. It’s nice and cool this morning. Oh Carla--Don't even think about leaving us. You are not obligated to do a challenge. Ruth--I have always love to hear about Lucy and Hershey. It's time for the furnace, :yikes: Madcat--Your routine sounds exactly like mine except I'm not going to the gym as I should. Happy--I've gotten in the habit of reminding the hygenist, dental assistant, and the dentist that I have sensitive teeth. It's supposed to be on my record but they very seldom review it. Sorry you had a bad experience. I'm going to move the furniture one more time later on today. I've finally figured out that the sectional is "left handed" and I think there is a piece missing. Get ready for some rain from the remnants of the hurricane. Mel--I knew that the Pathmark stores exsisted but didn't know there locations. Way back when I used to work in the factory I printed cases. This was one of the brand names. Time is escaping me this morning. By the time I get the load of clothes out of the dryer it'll be time to get the lawn mower and weed eater to work in the yard. |
I MUST BE THE ONLY ONE TO SAY THIS BUT IT COMES FROM MY HEART...CARLA I KNOW THE FEELING AND IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO PULL AWAY THEN DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO DO THE SAME THING. LIFE GETS TO BE A BIT MUCH TO BE "FUNNY" ALL THE TIME  NOT THAT I WANT YOU TO GO BUT YA KNOW????
I CASHED THE CHECK. ALL THE BOYS ARE HAPPY. PUTTING IT AWAY FOR A RAINY DAY OR CHRISTMAS. WE'RE ALL USING CASH THIS YEAR. DIDN'T GET TO THE MARKET BUT TOMORROW I WILL. THE BUS GOT CALLED FOR SOME MEDICAL APPTS SO I GOT OFF. I STAYED OUT TOO LONG BOTH DAYS AND MY HEAD IS SPLITTING. I DID READ THE POSTS BUT JUST CAN'T ANSWER. I NEED TO TAKE THE ZXYRTEC AND LIE DOWN SO I CAN FOOD SHOP TOMORROW. OR JEN WOULD HAVE TO DO IT AND AT HER WEIGHT SHE BUYS ALL FATTENING FOODS :lol3: :lol3: CHAT MAYBE TOMORROW. NITEY NIGHT :cloud9: |
Morning all,
Carla, I think I came over a bit harsh and grumpy yesterday. Forgive me, I'd had a rotten day. Life goes on and I'll get back to the routine yet. Work and life (not to be confused with each other) goes on and we have to do what we have to do. So lurk away. We love you. Mel - I'd better not leave you out in the cold today. Danged if I know what went wrong yesterday but I'd never just hang you out there and leave you to dry. You know that. It's Friday yeehaa. Had breakfast with the PM project team manager this morning and he is now aware of the problem I had yesterday. I have said I will deal with it, but I just want him to be aware of the situation. I think I'll be trying hard to hang this team together until the end of the project. Time will tell. Glad you got your cheque cashed and put away. I hope those bank fees are not back in your account as well. Wouldn't it be nice if things went back in as fast as they came out!!! Wishful thinking there. Happy - more bad experiences with the dentist. Those hygenists always feel like they are doing more harm than good. I'm sure I don't have enough plaque to cause that much drilling and buffing etc. I knew you were joking about the job. I do understand the American sense of humour mostly even if I can't understand the accent at times. And whatsmore I know that the prevailing wind here goes east and south - I don't have a direct line to Happy's desk so I can't take credit for landing you with all the DW's (user) problems. I have enough DWits of my own to take care of. One of the guys at breakfast this morning was having problems with his UAT (User Acceptance training). Apparently he has a South African in his class who considers the world begins at his right ear and ends at his left and there is little in the middle. As usual this person began complaining at 8.00am in the morning and by lunch G was developing a sad case of swallowed swear words. Finally he said that he was pondering a problem and it was taking forever to find the right words but --- If we configured SAP (computer program) to cater for every F***wit in this company we would have a program that would continually loop in a long oval and would speak with a SA accent. He then calmly continued on with the next UAT test script. I felt like cheering since my problem is also SA. Ruth - I think this board is an 'I Love Lucy' page. We just love to hear of her exploits and misdeeds and adventures. Any dog that chews eyeglasses and knickers is fine by me. It's funny and sad and we want to know how she is doing. We are cheering for her :encore: Not that we don't want to know about Hershey, but Lucy has the same warped sense of humour as I do. Go Lucy! Madcat - FUBAR'ed - gotta love the acronyms. One of the other team leads wondered why I was referring to FRED when I was talking to my computer (as you do) so I explained that no Fred was not the name of my computer - it stood for F*ridiculous electronic device. Oh she said, maybe I should call mine fred as well. Nope - yours is alfred. ALFRED? - yep another lousy one of the above. Ceejay - get into that furniture and get moving. Great for the shoulders, triceps and biceps. Then you clean behind where they were and work out the legs and knees with squats and lunges. Good onya. Right time to round up the herds and get moving. Fair amount of droving to be done today. See you |

HI Ladies!! Life is busy but good. The Rush concert on Wed night was fabulous. They played 3 hours. I got to see tons of old friends before and after. Some I hadn’t seen since before hubby and kids. Felt very Hollyhock-ish to be there. I have walked 3 X’s this week so far.Food has been better but i am very hungry around 10 pm when i get home at night. Getting lots of my fruits and veggies in tho. I am up a bit early to give myself some time to think and sit with a coffee. Having a busy, strange and pleasant week. I have been gone from home most days this week for approx 12 hours a day. On Wed I was out from 9am til 1am. Work has been going incredibly well and it is so much fun.Really, I get to do funky hair and laugh and chat all day and get paid for it. Today is pizza day for the kids so no lunch packing! They dont need to get up til 8am. I said to hubby last night, I have hardly seen my babies, i have been gone 12 hours a day. He replied, that is how it has always been for me. He is pretty much gone 6am-6pm every day. The interesting piece for me is that because i am gone til after 9pm, he is caregiving in the evenings but he is going beyond that and this is very new. He took the kids ti piano lessen last night. He has picked up milk and bread and garbage tags. He arranged an outing for DS with another kids............he has been verbally supportive of me about my avon biz and the time it takes. None on this has ever happened. Not once in 11 years. What ever changes I have made for myself. And really, in the beginning it was to empower myself so that I could be independent so I could leave him; have in turn empowered him some how. It took 9 months.......and it was ****......I am deeply thankful. Mind you i am still carrying the load. I am doing laundry, feeding pets, paying bills around the fringes of my commitments and making meals( love that crock pot) and taking care of all the kids school stuff etc. I am stressed out over money and scheduling and my clothes are in terrible shape and my appearance matters for work and keeping everyone happy. I deeply miss my kids. The kids are doing fine. I will have lots of time on the weekend with them and next week i am only out 1 evening for work.Nothing else. Things will have settled down some. My DD turns 7 next weekend. We will have some festivities for that and we have a wedding, out of town. Looking forward to my BIL’s 40th this weekend. There will be some good long time friends there. Hubby is looking forward to going too. Again.odd but pleasant. Today I work from 9-3 and the shop and then I am working at the fair with Avon from 4-8, home by 9pm. Taking a change of clothes for the fair gig.Hairdressing is so hard on your clothes. Everything has to be washed every time you wear it from the hair so it gets worn fast and perm solution and colour splatter and ruin stuff. I wear an apron but it is sneaky stuff. My clothes are plain and simple but in my former life and a hairstylist-cool chick my clothes were, well, cool. Time for breaky and a shower. |

Morning all,
Sort of bright Saturday here. It is supposed to be the best day of the weekend weatherwise. Just hope it stays sort of like this for the rest of the day. I've come into work to clear up some bits and pieces I didn't manage to get done yesterday and will go down and pick up the car and the friend in a couple of hours. Happy - so sorry you are so far overdue with projects and things. It's a bit pain to have to work so hard for so little understanding. Sleep well and know that I am thinking of you while you are slaving away. Wasn't technology supposed to relieve us of some of the burdens of work? Would someone remind me again of how that works? Mel - I had a quiet word with my new 'friend'. I'd had a chat with the Change Manager earlier in the day and found out a couple of bits and pieces of information I had not been privy to earlier. So I played on the fact that she has two projects on the go and both interact with each other and that she has a conflict of interest and that we needed to come up with a solution that will be of benefit to both projects and result in a harmonious union of the two of them. Jeez I can be diplomatic at times! We have thrashed out a solution - now we have to make it work. And no, I need the tfg like I need another hole in the head. Holly - I'm so happy that things have settled down for you at home. Somehow it doesn't seem to matter if things at work go awry or completely off the track if you can come home to peace, harmony and quiet. I don't know if you will ever get more than 30% out of him on the housework side because men just don't seem to see the dust bunnies under the couch or the pile of dishes that should be in the dishwasher. After all the bench is a very convenient place to put things down, that's why it is made so wide!!!! Okay, time to get on with things. I'm off. Probably be in here again tomorrow so I'll no doubt see you then. |
HELLO SHADDIE~ I AM GLAD THINGS ARE WORKING OUT. YES YOU ARE BEING QUITE THE DIPLOMAT AND I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU!! :cheer: HOPEFULLY THINGS WILL ALL GO WELL AND YOUR WEEKEND WITH YOUR FRIEND WILL BE RELAXING AND LOTS OF FUN AND GOOD LAUGHS.
I HAVE MET A WOMAN, STAY AT HOME MOM, ON A XMAS THREAD I HAD STARTED TO ADVOCATE THE USE OF USING 3FC'S ACCESS TO AMAZON.COM SO THE 3FC WOULD GET CREDIT FOR THE SALES. Mornin'
Having my 2nd java.I am very happy to be home. happy sigh. I have appts booked to sign 4 new reps to my Avon team from the fair last night. Ran into some dear friends while there. Nice. Today is about cleaning the house and organizing stuff and then shuffling kids to sleepovers and then going a bday party with more dear friends. I am loving the cool, sunny fall days!!! Might squeeze in some gardening. Must says Mel's new boyfriend is a keeper!! Yummy. Thanks Shad, my expectations were never really that high, common human kindness works. Good to see you are keeping everyone down under in line. |
Not really a lot to tell about myself.
I am a Christian. Right now I don't work outside of the home. Would love to go back to work but with gas prices who can afford to make under 12 dollars an hour if they have to drive an hour to get to work. Something close to home would be great even if it doesn't pay much. I have two children boy almost 21, has adhd, asberger and tourets. He is 21 going on 17, sometimes going on 13. They tell me he will hopefully catch up to his age in his late 20's. They didn't tell me the meds they were giveing me to stop labor ( he was two months early ) could cause all those problems. They no longer give woman those meds because of all the children who have problems, just like my sons, from the meds. I also have a girl almost 17, going on 40 lol. Have to say when I think I have done nothing good with my life, I look at them and know I have done something wonderfully. I have just started on this journey to lose weight after years of being sick and meds packing the lbs on me. Was very happy the day the doc said everything ( for the time being ) was out of my system and I could TRY to lose weight. Seems everytime they give me a med for my lungs the lbs come along with it. I have done better than TRY, I am doing. Coming off very slowly but it is coming off. I am only averaging about a lb a week but that is 16lbs less to lose today than I had to lose a few weeks ago. I was always naturally thin, never really thought much about it. Doesn't matter if I ate myself to this weight or medications put me at this weight. I can now get this weight off and keep it off. From what I have been told, and the posts I have read here on the site, diets don't work. People go back to the same eating habits they had before they started. I am not on a diet. I am changing the way I think about, look at and eat food. I eat with the family when they are having my favorites, use a lunch plate instead of a dinner plate. When they aren't having my favorites I eat lean cuisines and lean pockets. Just dropping a lot of the fat out of my diet is helping. Portion sizes are my big problem. As I have gotten older I can't eat like I use to. The lean cuisines are really helping me get a good idea of what a real portion size is. As time goes by, I am eating less and less of the lean cuisines and more and more what the family is eating. I saw someone talking about shopping. You know, trying to get a pair of shoes when the kids are doing their back to school shopping is terrible. All that pushing and shoving. If those darn kids would stay out of my way when I am trying to find a pair of shoes ( wear a size 2 in kids tennis shoes ) I wouldn't have pushed so much.:) UPDATE I am never again going to do my weigh in within the first couple of days when my dot is suppose to start. I know I weigh my most during those few days. Had my weigh in on tuesday. I hadn't lost anything, oh maybe 1/2lb but I don't count those. I stick with solid lb lose. Had to take my daughter to the doc today, we both have broncitus. Thought what the heck and she and I did another weigh in. I am down 2lbs :carrot: |
Quick pop in and :welcome: Rennie.
Back from the touristy thing at the Church and out of that darn 1811 outfit! Those pioneers must have had tough skin! We had lots of visitors and the dogs did shifts really well although Doug and I were there for the duration. Lucy had about seven ginger cookies from crumbs! We ran out when it was Hershey's turn. People always want to give the dogs something! I'll remember to bring raw veggies next year. I've just made a big batch of hummus and a veggie platter to take to the BD party tonight. Naturally I've tried it and will be breathing garlic on the world. I put some of my frozen red pepper puree in it and it's fabulous. Two years ago I bought a CRATE of red peppers, roasted them, peeled them and pureed them. They are just great in hummus or swirled in broccoli soup along with yogurt. I'm debating doing that again this year but have left it a bit late. Next week is the IPM (International Ploughing Match) and the village is already busy with people coming in early. It's a huge deal with a tent city, entertainment, demonstrations and even some ploughing! About 30K to 50K peopel are expected. I won't be able to work it much as my damned knee can't handle all the walking over rough ground but will be doing some finance stuff online and also helping make 450 box lunches every morning! That's a heck of a lot of sandwiches at 4 slices of bread per lunch! Imagine peeling 450 boiled eggs. Enough! I'm getting tired thinking of it. Time to change for dinner. It's at Doug and Claire's place - Shad's been there and knows how comfy these people are! |
Hi, Rennie-- I am rather intermittent and currently on vacation in Maine.
DH and I have been in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I've seen both of my grown children... and we don't have to go home till next week. Wheeeeeeee. The other 3FC thread I subscribe to has had so much depressing, sad or just plain bad news. From some of the perusing I've done here, I know this group hasn't been immune to that either. All I can hope is that our hearts feel warmer as the weather gets colder. DH and I visited "Lenny" in Scarborough, Me this afternoon. 1700 lbs of milk chocolate! |
Wow Painter - all that chocolate on the hoof. Tell me, if you wanted to eat something like that, where would you start?
Just as a matter of interest where would anyone start? Please tell me. Rennie, welcome to the nut house and wild life refuge centre. And I am only talking about me! I was debating the other day whether it was intro time again or not. We do it every so often - or at least I usually find something weird and wonderful to say about everyone. I won't try it just now since I am supposed to be working. So I will just have to talk about me. I'm a Kiwi, (New Zealander) who lives in Australia to raise the iq over here. At present I'm living in Perth on the West Coast of the continent. Normally I live in tropical Queensland on the East Coast. I have 2 sons, 31 and 33. One lives in Queensland and the other in South Australia. One repairs crushing machinery and is doing an electrical apprenticeship and the other is in IT and currently changing his job to work in the (no) help desk at the University of SA where he will probably study for another degree at the same time. He holds a pilots licence and speaks Italian. Makes for an interesting resume! The other one is locally known as action man - his time off is spent jet skiing, climbing cliffs and jumping out of perfectly good aeroplanes (however he never tells me about it until he has landed). I work as a workplace trainer. I train in computer programs for large companies, mostly mines and resources. It gives me a good living (although I always whinge about the job when I am doing it) and I get to travel alot. I've just come back from a jaunt around the States and Canada and very nice it was too. I wouldn't mind finding some work over there, but then again I don't have a green card and probably wouldn't win the green card lottery if I applied 10,000,000 times. Enough about me. Ruth - do we get to see photos of the lady in the 1812 Overture - uh sorry, the 1811 outfit. Better not make you younger than you are. Glad that you had a good time at the Open Doors project and naturally enough Lucy would be right in there when the food was being handed out. That red pepper puree sounds so good. If they ever come down in price here, I might do the same. I love roasted red peppers - yum meeeeeeee. 450 lunch boxes!!!! :yikes: 450 boiled egg!!! :yikes: :yikes: Is there enough hens in Delta to provide that many eggs (sorry Happy - aigs!) I though Doug and Claire had a great place. Please pass on my regards and say g'day to the dog!!!! Lovely people. I'm sure you will be well fed. Holly - enjoy the party. Glad the Avon is going so well. I've always found with my kids that if I let them know what I expect of them, then they are more likely to conform and be pleasant. Aren't DH's just big kids??? Gotta go and do some work. I'll be back tomorrow. Lemme see if I can attach a piccy of the wildflowers. Just a moment please. Nah the pictures are too large apparently. I'll try again from webshots. Okay, I have the photos on Webshots. Someone else will need to find the addy because when I do, you lot can't see them. Also, one or two of them are sideways on. I can't rotate them unless I have webshots desktop on my computer and the system won't let me download it. But you can just lean over anyway. |

THERE ARE OFFICES DOWNSTAIRS AND I SOMETIMES WORK FOR THEM AND I AM THE EMERGENCY CONTACT PERSON FOR POLICE, AMBULANCE AND FIRE DEPT FOR THE 100 SENIORS WHO LIVE HERE. MY JOB IS A LONG STORY BUT I AM TRYING VERY HARD TO GET RETIRED! I AM SURE THE OTHERS WILL BE LAUGHING AT THIS POINT IF THEY ARE READING. SHAD WAS JUST ON VACATION IN THE USA AND STAYED WITH EACH OF US WHILE SHE WAS HERE. SO SHE GOT TO MEET US ALL AND SOME OF US FOR A SECOND TIME. THE REST YOU'LL LEARN AS THE DAYS GO BY. SUNDAY IS BRIGHT AND CLEAR. THE WEATHER IS NIPPY. MY OLD FRIEND MR. SCIATICA IS BACK AND WE HAD SO MUCH FUN ALL NIGHT IT'S A WONDER I GOT ANY SLEEP!! BUT I HAD TO LAUGH THIS MORNING. TO SAY NOTHING ABOUT TIG, TEEL AND LINUS. :dunno: I AM OFF TO BREAKFAST. THE GRANDSON IS BUSY WATCHING THOMAS TANK ON PBS.. SOMETIMES I REALLY THINK HE IS MORE HUMAN THAN BIRD. EVEN JEN IS SURPRISED.....BUT THEN SHE RARELY WATCHED KIDS PBS IF EVER WHEN SHE HAD HIM :lol3: :lol3: HAPPY SUNDAY. ENJOY! :moped: |
RENNIE~ I FORGOT TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHTLOSS!! WOW YOU ARE OFF TO A GREAT START! :carrot:
|
Morning chicks,
The fun continues. Back is all stiff and sore - woke up barely able to move yesterday. (Personally I think it's residual stress coming out one spot on my back  ) Anyway if I want DH to help me with the grocery shopping, he insists we go early so I have just enough time to duck in here while pretending to drink my coffee. I'll be back later. WELCOME RENNIE!!!!!! Always nice to have a new hen in the coop! |
